Ace first hears you talking about your crush when he’s rounding the corner, and see’s you talking to Marco who looks amused at the conversation topic.

“Just my little, Matchstick.” You sigh dreamily, having had a crush on Ace for what seemed like months.

He squinted as he stuffed his mouth at the dinner table when you talked to Izou this time about ‘Matchstick’ and what he’d apparently done that was so ‘wonderful’ and it was pissing him off.

Ace had no idea it was your nickname for him, everyone else knew and just watched as Ace stumbled around in jealous obliviousness.

Seemed you had to step up your game, whenever you knew he was in earshot you would test nicknames, more pointed than the last.

It wasn’t until ‘Flaming freckles’ did it click with him.

Others had been this close to grabbing Ace and shaking him, screaming in his face that you had a crush on him.

You both ended up skirting around one another for about a week before Pops burst the bubble and was basically like ‘now kish’

Marco

At first you try a subtle name because you aren’t sure you want Marco to know about your all-consuming crush just yet and Marco is very astute.

You swear with each smirk on his lips and raise eyebrow whenever he is near you that he just knows.

You wanna play it cool at first. Only talking about him vaguely. Calling him ‘Pina Colada’ when mentioning him in conversation.

He hears you and Jozu walking past his office window, hearing you gush about how ‘cute’ this Pina Colada was and for a good week he has no idea.

This gives you time to decide you want the good doctor to know you want to give his face kisses and hold his hand.

You and Ace are sitting outside his window one day and Ace hands you a slice of pineapple from his stack of fruit he’d acquired from the kitchen.

Every time you mention him in passing with others it’s always some bread-related pun or name which makes everyone side-eye you. You used all the puns you can, mentioned his ‘bread rolls’ and get Marco to snort coffee up and out his nose.

Thatch has no idea but can’t help feeling jealous at all the attention this person is getting from you.

It’s a little annoying and he feels his eyebrow twitch when you mention ‘My lovely baguette man’ and he’s very close to shaking Marco and Ace down for information, or rather lay at their feet and whine till either one of them gives in.

You thought he would have gotten it by now with how obvious and frankly obnoxious you are about the whole thing.

Marco and Ace just want the dance to be over.

One day you step into the kitchen with Ace, talking about this and that before you decide to make a very clear point “I really like his smile, his wonderful warm smile that’s as soft as the bread he’s baking.”

Ace drops his plate on the floor, a face that looks aghast at your bombshell subtly as Thatch whirls around, the biggest grin on his face.

MLP Mane 6 - 2024 Human Designs

I've been wanting to re-design my MLP FIM Human designs for a while now, as the previous versions were from 2021-2022, and I really don't like those old designs now. They can still be found on my page, and I won't delete them, but I thought it was about time for an upgrade! (Also in that original batch I did, I never drew AJ, so I'm also making up for that :/ )

And, just to get it out of the way: This is MY own interpretation of the characters. I'm not going against anyone else's designs, and I would hope that no-one would do that for me. They are ponies without specified race or ethnicity, an artist is allowed to interpret them however they want.

Anyway, as for the designs themselves I wanted to include small details about the characters, mostly head canon stuff. I'll run through each of them and give my small commentary on my designs.

Quick Note: Each of the mane 6 are wearing Friendship bracelets, and each matches a specific other character, but that doesn't mean that they value their overall friendships any less. I simply chose the combinations from the episodes I remember those specific two (or more) being in together. But, for the sake of harmony, let's say that they all have bracelets of each other, and simply chose just two to wear to their photo shoot.

Rainbow Dash: I wanted a very tom-boyish/partly sporty look for her. Baggy shirt (probably wearing a sports bra?), athletic shorts, bandages & scrapes (from falling, etc.) and some very nice sneakers. (One of her most prized possessions)

Pinkie Pie: Fun colors and fashion, I wanted her hair to be as wonderfully fluffy and curly as it could be. Also her sandals were so fun to design, I imagine she calls them her "cake shoes".

Twilight Sparkle: Far more subtle in design and colors, but I figure that's what she'd want. Also her hair shape is so fun, I'm so proud of it.

Apple Jack: Actually one of the more detailed designs, but I just had to include everything I thought of. I imagine she's very tanned from her work, but it follows the line of her clothes, and her freckles most often appear there. (I'm not actually sure if that's how freckles work, I'm just assuming :/ ) Also my dad gave me the idea to put her cutie mark on her belt buckle. (I was just gonna do trees or smth, but this is far better)

Rarity: Lots of little details, and attention to detail. Looking at it now, I could've added more white into her design than I did, but I'm okay with her palette. Her hair was my favorite to color :)

Fluttershy: (My favorite) Was a simpler design, like Twilight, but again I think she'd appreciate that. There are some scars on her legs, hands and parts of her face, and I added those as she works with animals, and I'd figure that, although they do listen to her, they are still animals and can get rowdy without warning. And they are fully-healed scars, she's not in pain, her skin just has a lot of story to it. (And you know me, I had to add a bit of Discord's influence in there! I imagine that he made the necklace for her, and although it's strange and doesn't seem to go with any outfit, she loves it dearly.)

here's all the second iteration of my mane 6 gorls, except Twi who I didn't change at all. Also I've started drawing w/out bases again bc I am back in the habit now, the only downside is that whenever I start drawing humanoids again I will be very out of practice XD the Rarity and Rainbow Dash are the ones with no base, I sketched them in pencil b4 transferring the design to my phone to color. those each have their own post on this page, while the rest are only on this post, but their first iteration posts are still up. They look pretty similar to the finals, but I made a few changes so if you click for quality you will see that these drawings are much more polished.

The two earrings in her visible ear are also blue and gold.

Pinkie Pie appears to be running or skipping across the page, but looking towards the viewer. she has a light pink coat with a very pastel pink, very poofy mane and tail. her mane is secured into space buns that resemble a buttercream rosette, while her tail is decorated halfway down by a blue scrunchie. Her cutie mark is a blue foil balloon, and it's yellow string continues around her leg. she has a white heart-shaped patch on her chest, and is wearing a yellow and blue rock candy necklace. her visible ear has two blue earrings and one yellow.

Fluttershy head is downturned and she's looking upwards shyly, her wings only partially unfolded. She has a thicker and more rounded body type, with long ears. She has a yellow coat and long, shaggy green hair with a tail that drags along the ground and back hooves covered in mud. her cutie mark has two pink butterflies and one brown pawprint. her necklace pendant is also a pink butterfly, with a green chain that matches her two green bracelets. She has bat-like wings, but also pink and green feathers around the outskirts of them.

Twilight is a unicorn, she appears to be walking across the screen, looking at something above her rather than the viewer or even where she is going. She has an almost cat-like body type, with legs that taper inwards towards small hooves and visible amounts of fluff around her legs and face. She has a light purple coat, which is sparkly in the area near her cutie mark of an elongated six-pointed magenta star-shaped gem. She has navy blue hair and a navy gradient at the ends of her limbs, ears and horn. her mane and tail have straight texture but are quite poofy, and taper inwards at the ends, ending in a curl. Twilight has facial markings which resemble bat-wing eyeliner and a sparkly black stripe from her eye to her chin. her semicircle glasses have thin hold frames with an equally understated frame, but are counterweighted by a gem that matches her cutie mark.

Rainbow Dash is a pegasus who is floating in the center of the picture, in a casual sprawling pose with one front hoof confidently raised up. She has a light blue coat and her tail and bangs are streaked with rainbow colors. her tail is in a half-bun while her mane is cut into a floofy, spiky version of a modern mullet, with the back part dyed stormy gray. Her cutie mark has a cloud with a rainbow lightning bolt. her visible ear features one earring for each of the six colors of the rainbow.

cutest is cherry. he has no competition really. no matter the verse, no matter the time or place he hasn't ever not been sweet as pie. most likely to put his hand in a dragons mouth to help pull something out from between it's teeth. naïve? yes. but its kept him safe so far because even big nasties can't help but fall for that cute face!

cory next. on par with cherry on dumb-dumb cute only... he's a bit of a nympho. chubby cheeks, belly rolls and squishy thighs! omg i just want to e a t him he's so deliciously adorable. only where as to cherry a kiss on the cheek would bring out a blush, cory like to give blow jobs, so i have to knock off some points for being a bit of a slut.

(he also loses cuteness points if anyone looked in to what he was like before and just couldn't do the mental gymnastics of how that 6ft+ behemoth of a sun god because this itsy witsy little freckle faced cutie!)

bunny boy next. elias. a literal bunny so he has to be on the list. only reason he's down here is because he doesn't want to be cute... but he is. because he's 5ft nothing and a b u n n y! he's scrappy and he'll fight, he knows what he wants and wont let anyone think they're the boss of him... but also he wants nothing more than to have a bonded warlock and sleep curled up in their pocket all day as they walk around and go on adventures together! so.. he is kinda adorable and has to live with it.

lastly nixus and honey - they're all pretty little things but i think they're more pretty then cute but its all subjective! honey, street kid kinda cute looking for a home and nixus, sweet book nerd type... they got cute kudos too!

These are the designs of the mane six while the show was taking place in my next gen, so these are not their mom designs. Also many things play out different in this universe than in the show, so keep that in mind :D

First off with Rainbow Dash:

I like many others made Dash short. The shortest of the group to be exact. Someone that's so short with a Rainbow Dash level of confidence is endearing to me. Dash is second most physically fit, being in the wonderbolts and all. Kept her long hair, because she's rocking it. She has pretty big wings that help her with flight and being one of the fastest pegasi.

Fluttershy:

She is the most slender of the mane 6, but not the tallest. She's third tallest actually. Taller than Rarity but shorter than Twilight. She has very long hair, and it's all natural. Fluttershy has a little bit of a fluffy/feathery chest. Overall she is a little fluffy and cozy. I didn't end up changing much for Fluttershy, since I already really love her design.

Pinkie Pie:

Pinkie is the second shortest of the group and is also a little chubby(man, I need to get better at conveying body types). She has some dense curly parts of her coat to reflect her mane. Pinkie has some small spots scattered over parts of her body, even on her ears! Pinkie also has a little bit of fluff near her hooves.

Applejack:

She is the second tallest of the mane 6, only because one of them is an alicorn. Applejack was definitely the tallest before Twi became one. She is definitely the most strong and bulky, since she does a lot of manual labor in her day-to-day life. Applejack has a lot of freckles most noticeably on her face, shoulders and lower back. She has the same hoof design thing as her brother Big Mac, and the brown on her legs is actually the color of her coat, not dirt! I made a lot of changes to AJ, because once I filled her in with the canon colors I just thought she looked so boring. I wanted to change that so I gave her a bunch of details, and made her colors even more earthy.

Rarity:

She is about the average height of a pony mare(a little ironic, huh). Rarity has a more curved figure with small legs and thicker body. Changed up her mane quite a bit from the show. I actually spent some time drawing her mane so I knew how it worked. I wanted to do her justice. I gave her the body markings to make her look more regal, and in a blue-gray hue to go with her eyes and cutie mark.

Twilight Sparkle:

Twilight is the tallest being that she is an alicorn and thus has long legs, horn and neck. Before she ascended, Twilight was pretty uniform in her features. She was slightly shorter than Rarity, but had a longer horn. Pretty much the only design change I had for Twi is the slight tweaks I made to her mane. I think she looks very cute.

When I upload their mother design, I'll share my headcanons for their personalities and what they have accomplished. I'm not sure if their markings will all be passed down into their children. I'll have to make that decision, hmmm, but at least the very least they look nice in them! I didn't want to go too ham with the design changes for this universe, since the overall theme of it is that I've become too attached~ I plan to a different redesign of them at a later date and go crazy with it! Also I don't usually add hair shine to characters, but I wanted to add a little bit of spice, since most of them just have hair with one color. I think it looks nice though!

"sayuuu," tadashi whines, rolling over so that his head is now resting against her shoulder. if she were turn just right she could see the faded freckles right around his eyes, lighter than the ones scattered across his cheeks.

"hm?" she asks, continuing to scroll through her phone. she brings her free hand up to play with his hair and he practically purrs, pushing his head a bit harder into her palm.

"m' tired," he groans.

she glances away from her phone, then shifts until she's facing him, noses brushing against each other.

"it's 2pm in a saturday, take a little nap then," sayu giggles.

"can't," tadashi complains, pouty deepening.

"why not?"

"cause, i gotta cuddle you. and i can't cuddle you if your attention is on your phone."

she lets out a laugh at this, then places her.phone on the nightstand, watching her lover's face light up. quickly, so she doesn't change her mind he wraps his arms around her and pulls her as close as humanly possible.

"much better," he sighs happily.

"yeah yeah, sleep well dashi," she says with a smile.

“D-dere, alright! I’m Izuku- wait,”

The poor thing covers his face in embarrassment while turning swiftly away from her expression, too scared to see what he could only assume to be the look of absolute regret at how awkward he is.

“Alright, let’s just… ignore that. I’ll uh, I better get going,” izuku’s little blush still dances across his cheeks, smiling bashfully at dere as he waves one last time, the little izuku in his head kicking around at having to leave her when he obviously has no intention to.

Izuku walks about silently into the night, notebook in hand while he waits for the last bus to arrive at the station, he doesn’t trust himself to wait till he gets home- already sketching anything and everything about her that crossed his mind. He stills while drawing out her features, smiling goofily at the papers before snapping back into reality when the bus arrives to take him home.

His eyes glow in glee while his pencil traces out all the technologies that seem to adorn dere, admiration tickling him when he realizes she didn’t even need to use her quirk to get them.

“What a woman,”

The woman now known as Dere's expression was actually quite the opposite to what he was expecting. Her smile was beaming after he reintroduced himself to her. It was funny, it was cute, and completely understandable too. As he cradles his ego and offers her one last wave, she waves back, bidding him goodnight.

It wasn't often she met people like him. People that seemed so... bright? In a way... She didn't know what it was about him. But a part of her now found herself wishing she actually would meet him again. She wasn't doing anything else right now. There were others coming to get those people chasing Izuku. She did want to make sure he made it home safe...

It was a small thought in the very back of her mind before, but now she thought maybe she would see to it he made it there after all.

This wasn't personal it was just... a part of her job. If she so happened to learn a little more about him along the way, it was just an afterthought.

Exiting the alleyway, the men stare the two down evilly, there were three, at least that’s Izuku can see— they adorned themselves in dark attire to hide themselves in the shadows, and the freckled man’s ears perk up at the sound of metal clinking with their movements, weapons probably hidden in their attire.

He unfortunately doesn’t recognize any of them when they show themselves, assuming their intentions are probably unknown even to themselves, he knows this part of town, people hurt to hurt, there was no malicious intent, no reason to cause harm— they just see blood and want to spill it. Thats why Izuku rarely makes it to these parts, especially at this time of night, but he couldn’t help himself, caught in starstruck at the thought of witnessing a new hero’s debut close by— just for it to bite him in the ass.

Despite how his figure towers over hers, Izuku remains stuck standing behind the girl, eyes flickering over her figure and blinking astonished at her attire.

Gadgets of all shapes adorned her while she stood firmly in place, her belt beeping with every tap of her fingers along the buttons implemented on it. A gasp escapes him when all three charge at once, none making an effort to answer her question as they pull out their weapons, knives and guns catching the moonlight while izuku squeals out in fear.

Alas, his worries die down when he watches how calm the woman has been all this time, not moving a single inch despite the men’s rapidly approaching figures, the bottom of her shoes light up— and suddenly he’s reminded of the ones he had when he was a toddler, running around just to watch the colors bounce on the walls of his home. Except, these were nothing like them— she pulls out a sphere from the pouch installed on her hip, dragging her feet back while dropping it only to kick it with a force izuku didn’t know anyone could muster, she aims for the three, the ball soaring in incredible speed before exploding right in front of their horrified faces.

“W-woah,” he mutters the only thing he’s able to say, blinking almost stupidly as the explosion flutters his clothes and hair around, yet he doesn’t budge, eyes never leaving her as she stood proud waiting to study the damage she so proudly caused.

The woman could tell long before Izuku had realized that the people following had weapons. It was in the way they moved as they exited the alleyway. Subtle hints in their movement that seemed inhibited. She had been trained to have an eye for even the most minute details in seconds.

She couldn’t control the sneer that took over her expression once she saw that particular craziness in the eyes of them once they were on the offensive. Seemed to be a thing she came across often on this side of town. Maybe it was something in the air? She hadn’t the slightest clue, but had never really liked it around here.

A flick of her wrist and her shoes are glowing, vibrating now, trying to synchronize with the orb she gathers from her pouch and drops to the ground. There’s a minute click the moment she kicks it. In the air it begins to glow before expanding (though to the untrained eye, it probably looks as if it hadn’t changed at all).

The moment it collided with one of the attacker’s chest it combusts into a wide cloud of light. It looks like your average explosion, but Izuku would be able to tell as the blowback blew his clothes that it emitted no heat? Peculiar…

The woman waited for said explosion to clear. She had expected at least one of them to still be coming at her, but they all seemed to have gone down.

After a few moments of silence, waiting to see if any of them would get up, she would lower her arm in front of Izuku when none did.

She’d murmur something into her wrist before tossing what looked like a coin onto each unconscious body. Said coins would seemingly dissolve after a few moments, and she would turn to him.

“You’re okay, right? Did they hurt you?”

The pure black of the night is comforting. It is that pure black that makes the moon so beautiful, that makes a stage for it to stand upon, that gives the stars their beauty, and provides all with that false sense of safety.

In the alleyway Izuku stretches his arms and touches the buildings on both sides, these walls built so very long ago. They are not the straight perfection of the modern buildings in the newer areas, but each curve and flaw renders them more beautiful still. His fingers dance along the curves and imperfections, he feels the cracks and the pits made by so many seasons of hail and rain while desperately trying to calm his breath at the echoing footsteps that follow his own. He makes a sharp turn to the right —after cursing at himself for staying out late— when he exists the alleyway and runs, only to meet his fate when he collides with another person.

“Ah— s-sorry,” he shuffles a few inches back, blinking at who stands before him, he lets her voice soak in -despite not registering a single word she said- the way her lips form over the words, the way her eyes meets his and never turns away regardless of the steps coming closer to the two. Suddenly he’s stuck in his spot, fingers twitching to hold onto her hand and help her run away with him, except she didn’t react at the figures exiting the alleyway, her melting chocolate for eyes narrowing at them.

Said girl was out minding her business tonight, not necessarily on duty, but still keeping an eye out for suspicious folks. There wasn’t much to do as things in Musutafu had been slow. Which, was technically good. But it always seemed to bother her for some reason when they were.

When things were calm around here it almost always felt too calm. Which normally meant big trouble was coming.

Call it an obsession, but she was always looking for something secret, for some hints of a master plan, for something bad. There always has to be some dark inklings lingering in a society and world riddled with quirks, right? Why wouldn’t there be when anyone could do anything?

Well, anyone with a quirk could do anything. Those without, including herself, not so much. Maybe her need to do good stemmed from a lack of control? From her feeling like she wasn’t enough? From her being tired of the quirkless being seen as less than and not as appreciated?

Yeah, it was probably all of those. It’s why she wanted to become her own hero she never had. Show the world and children without innate power that normal people like them could be amazing too.

Short autobiography aside, she was just about ready to call a colleague and head home. That is, until she heard the sound of quickened breathing and feet scraping pavement behind her. Before she knew it someone had bumped into her.

She would turn around to quite a tall man. He seemed panicked.

“Ah— s-sorry.”

He backs away and seems to freeze up as more echoing steps rush behind him. She can already feel the scowl forming on her face as she steps around him awaiting his assailants’ arrival, an arm raising to her side as if to shield him.

She murmurs to him, “Don’t move, okay?”

There’s an implied I’ve got you there. Though the air may have seemed tense, to him she tried to convey complete calm.

She eyes those that were chasing him, “What do you want?”

So... It's been a while. I've finally finished the mane 6, like actually finished them this time, and I want you to see them in full! I also want to walk y'all through the process and the differences made between the roughies and these ones.

First up, we have Fluttershy!

After revising a tiny bit, I decided to get her hair back to a warmer pink, like how it is in the actual show, and lightened it up a little bit. I even gave her eyelashes a raspberry color to match the darkest part of her hair, which is something you'll find I do for everyone here because it's a nice touch.

I gave her blush and a few moles too, 5 to be exact (can you spot them all?) but aside from that, nothing's really changed much with Fluttershy.

Now I don't like to get into this too much, but my alter does (But the parasites in me want the candy)

-she's trans <3

-she's disabled (broken wing that never healed right, technically she can fly but it's very painful and she can't go far without needing to rest)

-she also has misophonia

-she's very passionate about biodiversity and ecosystem management and... Hate's a strong word, so she uses it very rarely. But she uses it for lawns. That, and abusers, are the ONLY exception to the 'never say hate' rule.

-speaking of which, and this may contradict canon because I've only watched up to season 4, but I don't care because I'm taking more of a Mariolore-esque approach to this anyway, but she doesn't have any family featured in the show from what I remember. So I'm gonna say her dad abused her for her femininity. He wanted her to be more rough and tumble, more aggressive, like the other boys. she was picked on at school too, her main nickname was 'chicken' because of her disability... Caused by her father. So she left. And that's why she lives alone. Also why she doesn't raise her voice, because she was yelled at as a child.

-she's a homesteader, so she's able to live off of what she grows in her garden for the most part. She saves a lot of money like this, and by living in a house that's actually abandoned and doesn't technically belong to her. So no bills to pay!

-her actual job is working retail at Rarity's boutique, the whole animal rehab thing is something she does as a volunteer because she doesn't want a profit motive to spoil her intentions. This of course means she's subjected to a fair bit of verbal and sexual harassment, but Rarity's a good boss, she treats her well and kicks out the customers who give her shit.

Next one, Pinkie Pie!

I gave her way more charms. Like... WAY more. If you'll notice, that lollipop is actually the same as Rainbow's old eyes, I just couldn't let those beautiful swirls go to waste! I worked so hard on the ice cream one, y'all wouldn't BELIEVE- anyway.

Pink eyelashes to match her hair, blue and pink gradient eyes instead of the blue from the show, and that I gave her originally, because I really wanted to give more characters unnaturally colored eyes. I even added these little bubbles to her eyes in the colors on her cutie mark because I still didn't feel like it was extra enough. I got the rainbow sprinkle freckles too, these aren't natural by the way, they're drawn on. I added both face paint and stickers, and I honestly can't believe I used to think my first design was extra. Looking back in it, it looks somehow... Plain? Like. Compared to this one at least.

Anyway, fun fact section because I guess I'm doing this now.

-She's pansexual and pangender<3

-Plus size too <3

-Cupcake and Carrot Cake are basically parents to her, she left her family's mine (no it's not a rock farm, you can't farm rocks, call it what it is. It's a mine.) without much, and was totally lost with nothing but her calling to guide her. In this society, you're an adult the minute you get your cutie mark, so it's not like she was expecting anyone to take her in. But they did, taught her all they know, and she's happier than she's ever been

-Her cartoon powers are actually because despite not being a unicorn, she was born able to wield magic, due to some unicorn ancestor. She's the only one in her family with this ability, and in fact, the only one in her entire community. Now, the town she grew up in was never named in the show from what I remember, so I'm giving it one; Roughshod*

*In case you didn't know, Roughshod is an actual word. You may recognize it from the idiom 'running (alternatively, riding) roughshod', which basically means 'to act without regard for others' feelings, opinions, personhood, wellbeing, or even safety.' It came from the practice of 'roughshodding' a horse's shoes, meaning to have the nails sticking out a bit in order to get a better grip on rough terrain. This made getting trampled by a roughshodden horse especially painful and injurious, hence the idiom. I thought it suited the bleak and conformist atmosphere of her hometown very well, and honestly, with how abundant rocks apparently are there, a lot of them probably did roughshod their shoes so they wouldn't slip and fall. it has a Watsonian AND Doylist explanation, so that's why I went with it. Also it just sounds appropriate from a phonological perspective. Anyway, done ranting about Roughshod… For now.

-She actually met Rarity through the cake couple commissioning custom aprons for their employees, and they've been besties ever since

-Autism and ADHD, most of these characters have either one or the other, in fact autism is actually very normalized in this universe as, well, most of the time, your special interest is literally MAGICALLY TATTOOED on your BUTT

Ok, Rarity next!

There really wasn't anything to change with her, except adding more jewelry, nixing the gold scrunchie in favor of just more locs holding her hair up so it looks more like a bun than a ponytail because looking back, the old design definitely looks like a ponytail. I DID change the eyelash color and undercut color just to make more sense with her design. I also shifted the blue streak to more of a mint green, since I know there's a possibility I'll be doing the other three princesses later and I don't want her to look too much like Luna color-scheme-wise. Also redid the iridescent finish on her horn because I didn't like the way i did it the first time.

Fun facts!

-She's mixed afro-arabic <3 Grew up hijabi, but isn't anymore. Her mom still is though

-Parents split, mom moved to whatever the hell equivalent of the UK is in this universe, I'm calling it the HA (Horseshoe Archipelago) for now, if anyone's got a better name, or knows if there's a canon UK equivalent, comment! But anyway, that's why she has the accent when literally nobody else does.

-Lipstick Lesbian

Ok, next we have Rainbow Dash!

I made some tweaks to the face shape, added bobby pins, switched her hair up a little bit, and even gave her new eyes! It thought the rainbow swirl was too much, and I was going to give her the magenta eyes she had in the show, but I wanted to deviate more since this was supposed to be, y'know... A redesign. Inspired by those old 3D glasses and chromatic aberration, I gave her these ones, which if you'll notice, have this transparent outline of cyan and red, and are themselves a gradient of cyan and red, but with magenta as the mother color, in order for the middle to look less gray.

Other than that, I just reshaped the bridge piercing and switched the white fields in the checkerboard bandage to magenta.

Fun facts about her, this is more fun than I thought.

-Butch, genderqueer lesbian

-She's had top surgery, she didn't like her boobs much and they were getting in the way

-Grew up with a single mom, named Slap Dash, because I thought it'd be funny. She was broke coming up, though, and pegasus culture is very hyper-individualistic and machismo, placing value on physical prowess and aggression more than anything else, so relying on others or being vulnerable is highly frowned upon. Meaning they were basically on their own.

-ADHD

Next up, we have Applejack!

I'd say, out of everyone else, she's gone through the least changes. Really, she just needed just a more desaturated color palette and a bow for the ribbon. I know it's sacrelige to leave her without her little hat, but I mean... The illustration's so big already.

Anyway, gave her better freckles too. So, fun fact time!

-She's aroace!

-She's dyslexic

-Not much else to say for her honestly, nothing that isn't canonical, like in the show... But yeah!

Ok, final one: Twilight Sparkle!

No previous designs to compare her too, so let's just go over my thought process while designing her;

I wanted to make her look chunky and blocky, so lots of straight lines. in fact, the only round shapes are her eye, and her barrette. But her barrette isn't actually hers, it's Luna's. Celestia gave it to her back when Luna was still banished, as a gesture of affection.

Hey so... Literal YEARS after leaving the mlp fandom, as in, long before I even had tumblr, I've recently uh... Gotten back in, a little bit?

It's all @meepmoopmaap's fault, he made a FANTASTIC infection AU, it's on AO3. Actually no, it's also my alter's fault (don't @ me ok I get that most ppl use headmate but alter is just more natural for me) since he's a fictive from the show and has been VERY active recently, but I digress. Point is, I kind of wanted to... How do I say this?

I wanted to make them centaurs, thought it could be cool to add a human skin tone for the top half and then their old ones, also add some necessity for clothes.

I also just wanted to redesign them overall.

So, obviously, we HAD to do Flutters first, and I thought this was gonna suck but it didn't and I'm actually kind of proud of it?

This is just the head and hair, and a pretty rough draft too, but here.

So, I wanted to give her a big nose, because big noses are cute, so I did. The strands in her face are since she's, y'know. Shy. I worked VERY hard to ensure there were as few straight lines or sharp corners in the design as possible, because I wanted it to be gentle and soft-looking. I even gave her beaded lashes to help with this, and they kind of look like teardrops which is oddly appropriate?

About the eye color, I... I completely ditched the teal eyes in her original design, in favor of olive green ones. I was planning on giving her more pops of olive green, but since this was just a profile head shot, I couldn't do much.

The teal eyes always bothered me, even when I was a kid, since I felt that it shifted her color scheme too much in the 'pastel primaries' direction occupied by Pinkie Pie which, if y'all like, we can do next. Also just the fact that half the cast had blue eyes really bothered me for some reason?

anyway. The olive green seems to suit her more anyway, and I've shifted the hair more to purple... Which may have been a mistake?

Ace

Ace first hears you talking about your crush when he’s rounding the corner, and see’s you talking to Marco who looks amused at the conversation topic.

“Just my little, Matchstick.” You sigh dreamily, having had a crush on Ace for what seemed like months.

He squinted as he stuffed his mouth at the dinner table when you talked to Izou this time about ‘Matchstick’ and what he’d apparently done that was so ‘wonderful’ and it was pissing him off.

Ace had no idea it was your nickname for him, everyone else knew and just watched as Ace stumbled around in jealous obliviousness.

Seemed you had to step up your game, whenever you knew he was in earshot you would test nicknames, more pointed than the last.

It wasn’t until ‘Flaming freckles’ did it click with him.

Others had been this close to grabbing Ace and shaking him, screaming in his face that you had a crush on him.

You both ended up skirting around one another for about a week before Pops burst the bubble and was basically like ‘now kish’

Marco

At first you try a subtle name because you aren’t sure you want Marco to know about your all-consuming crush just yet and Marco is very astute.

You swear with each smirk on his lips and raise eyebrow whenever he is near you that he just knows.

You wanna play it cool at first. Only talking about him vaguely. Calling him ‘Pina Colada’ when mentioning him in conversation.

He hears you and Jozu walking past his office window, hearing you gush about how ‘cute’ this Pina Colada was and for a good week he has no idea.

This gives you time to decide you want the good doctor to know you want to give his face kisses and hold his hand.

You and Ace are sitting outside his window one day and Ace hands you a slice of pineapple from his stack of fruit he’d acquired from the kitchen.

“I love pineapple, reminds me of my cute bluebird.” You hum happily and Ace just grimaces “Oh gross, shut up.” He huffed, nudging you.

“Oh, is that so?” you both look up at the window, seeing Marco peering down over the edge, amusement on his face, half-lidded eyes focused on you.  “Maybe the ‘bluebird’ like you too, yoi.”

“Oh, gross.” Ace repeats and stuffs an apple in his mouth wishing he wasn’t there.

Thatch

Every time you mention him in passing with others it’s always some bread-related pun or name which makes everyone side-eye you. You used all the puns you can, mentioned his ‘bread rolls’ and get Marco to snort coffee up and out his nose.

Thatch has no idea but can’t help feeling jealous at all the attention this person is getting from you.

It’s a little annoying and he feels his eyebrow twitch when you mention ‘My lovely baguette man’ and he’s very close to shaking Marco and Ace down for information, or rather lay at their feet and whine till either one of them gives in.

You thought he would have gotten it by now with how obvious and frankly obnoxious you are about the whole thing.

Marco and Ace just want the dance to be over.

One day you step into the kitchen with Ace, talking about this and that before you decide to make a very clear point “I really like his smile, his wonderful warm smile that’s as soft as the bread he’s baking.”

Ace drops his plate on the floor, a face that looks aghast at your bombshell subtly as Thatch whirls around, the biggest grin on his face.

“An’ I like yours darlin’!”

“Oh, thank fuuuck.” Ace groans as he collects the food off the floor.
