You might ask yourself: what sport, exactly, are sports cars playing? It's a valid question, and one that academics have brought up from time to time, before being punished for their heresy by being torn apart by gangs of feral Chevrolets as they slept. Coincidence? Well, you asked the question, so let me know how it all turns out for you as you go to bed tonight.

When cars were first invented, around the year 1886, they weren't very good at any sports. In fact, the twin Olympic events of "running over pedestrians" and "scaring horses" were still over a hundred years from being invented. Polo was right out. So these were just cars. Normal, boring ones. Things picked up a little (ha ha) when the first trucks were invented, but again the etymology has escaped these early pioneers.

Around the year 1920, a guy named Rudolf Sports invented what we now know as the modern-day sports car. He got really excited after watching a Steve McQueen movie one night in his garage and decided to cut all the parts off of his gently-dinged Model T that didn't contribute to going fast. Then, he went fast. It wasn't enough: it wasn't as fast as a race car, but it was still quick enough to be thrillingly dangerous. Soon, he crashed into a field and the tires came flying out from the wreckage. Some nearby children threw the tires around, creating the sport now known as disc golf. Posthumously, both sports and the sports car were named after Herr Sports, once he was identified from dental remains.

Every time I pass a sports car in my rickety, smoking mess, I tip my hat a little to this hero of modern street racing. Sometimes the owners take this as an invitation to race, at which point they shoot past me at high speed and obliterate themselves against the nearest hard or semi-hard structure, such as a tree. I have to also give a lot of big "ups" to his cousin, Alessandro Mid-Engine, who came up with the idea of putting the motor in the back of the car, where it would be less likely to be destroyed during an enormous crash, and much easier to be pulled out and thrown into the backseat by yours truly in the scant few minutes he has available before emergency services turn up.

He's referring to a photo set done in my twenties over at one of my best buddies apartment. He and I were excellent friends. I spent the night at his place and in the morning he and his girlfriend had to leave for a bit which meant I had the apartment to myself.

Already in my underwear, as my friends know I don't wear pants in the morning, I got curious about his undies. In middle and high school he had a mix of colored briefs and boxers. So I wondered if he still wore briefs.

After looking in the normal places one would look for underwear, sadly he had switched to strictly loose, long legged, boxers. Not wanting to waste the moment, I decided to try them on and one thing led to another.

Jongho + Firsts

First Date: Chill and active, of course! Jongho and you go to the park, giving you the option to bike, play a round of disc golf, play with dogs in the dog park, and of course end the day with a peaceful walk down the beautiful blossom trail, catching stray petals as they fall upon you.

First Time Holding Hands: The two of you are on the way to your next destination, taking a simple shopping day as a no-pressure date. It’s a nice day, a light breeze ruffling your hair and waving leaves on the trees planted in intervals along the sidewalk. You make to cross the street, head to the next section where the trees had white blossoms… “(y/n), look out!” A hand wraps around yours, anchoring you back to reality, and as your reverie fades you see a car running the red light. “Be careful, ok?” Jongho is looking into your eyes, a spike of panic coloring his usually calm expression. “Ok,” you nod, “thank you. I’m sorry, I was distracted looking at the trees.” “Looking at the trees, huh?” He shakes his head fondly, exasperatedly, his hand not letting yours go. You say nothing, just smile. You don’t mind, after all.

First Kiss: Neither of you knew it was coming! One thing you knew Jongho was singing, sweet words of a love song entrancing you, and the moment he stopped you moved forward as if possessed, yanking him into a kiss he eagerly returned. His mouth formed an ‘o’ as you pulled away, your own expression one of lovestruck joy. “Well, I guess you liked the song,” he teased drily, a smile playing on his lips.

First ‘I Love You’: Jongho could never be bored when he’s with you. You’ve just said the same of him and the words struck like an arrow as you hiked, finally reaching the clearing you sought. As soon as your eyes hit the flower-dusted grass, you were tugging him along into it, both of you laughing without a care in the world. Jongho felt like he was floating and nothing could strike him down. Nothing but cupid’s arrow, that same jolt to his heart as he watched you gather a tiny bouquet for yourself and show it off to him. Before he knows it, the words are flying out of his mouth without his usual considerate planning. Guess you had that effect on him. “I love you.”

First Fight: It hadn’t started as all that, in fact you were just feeling a bit snippy over what happened, but Jongho’s words set you off the moment you started to voice that. “You’re being unreasonable,” he said. “Oh, so I’m not allowed to be upset? I’m sorry you’re so stoic all the time, but we can’t all be like that, ok? Well, I’ll just quit bothering you with all my annoying emotions then!” Sure, maybe a bit much, but you’d experienced being written off before and you were done with it- no more taking it for anybody. As soon as you turned around, though, you felt your boyfriend’s hand around your wrist. “(y/n), wait! We should just take a deep breath and talk about this. I shouldn’t have said that, we’re both just frustrated. But we shouldn’t leave angry.” “Fine.” He fixes you with a look. “Alright, maybe you should start. You are better at cooling off than me.”

First Anniversary: Jongho is much more of a romantic than the others give him credit for- he just saves that all for you, not his bandmates. All the sweetness he can muster goes into your hundred days, the most beautiful flowers he picked just for you, a gift of just the thing you’ve been eyeing, his undivided attention all day as you speak of whatever your heart desires, his steps matching yours on the way to the reservation he made. He has the rings, too, you just don’t know it yet- that’s for after dessert.

First Pet: Jongho teases you about how much you whine for a pet, but of course he can’t resist the idea of coming home to a fluffy bundle of joy either, melting the moment you take him to the rescue shelter. It’s so hard to choose just one-in fact Jongho has to repeatedly remind you that one is a good starting point and you can’t take five home because they’re all cute- but in the end you guys head home with a border collie mix because Jongho read up on how smart and loyal they are! “Just like you!” You beam. He vetoes the name “Jongho Jr.” though so you call him Einstein instead. Jongho shakes his head but what can he do when he loves you so much?

super late this week cuz well I've been out and about with the hubby all weekend cuz it was his bday so I've been out in the wonderful weather all weekend - jazz festival all day yesterday - complete with "been outside all day crazy curls festival hair" on my part (tho not as cute as TZP festival hair lolz) and hiking and park hanging out walking, a lil disc golf today, and so much sun and fresh air over the entirety of the weekend and I am exhausted from it

anyway the important not me rambling stuffs - i did absolutely no writing this weekend, but i did do some during the week so i guess some of those words will do these words are from the same room that lil piece of art above that i've been working on (also still a wip) shows but a later in the story wedding day kiss

Prince Alex is fifteen, not even a whole day when he is kissed for the first time by someone not his family. He comes from a family that has always been very demonstrative in their love, so kisses on foreheads and cheeks are not new to him. They have always been sprinkled throughout his day, through his young life; they are nothing out of the ordinary. This kiss, however, was not like any of those kisses. For one, it was from the prince's best friend after they had slipped off during his birthday party, in the green room of the palace in Claremont, where they used to sometimes play on rainy days when they were younger. Prince Henry, the kissing best friend, is also the same prince who ran from him after it happened, and now he can’t find him. He’ll think about the other reasons why this kiss is different than the others later because right now, he’s still stuck on the fact that his best friend in the entirety of the world kissed him right on the lips and – well, luckily for the prince those other thoughts can wait for later as he stumbles upon said best friend sitting by the small pond in the garden. Prince Alex plops down next to Prince Henry, and they sit silently. Alex waits for an explanation of why his best friend kissed him and then ran away. Thoughts consume the young prince: Was he a bad kisser? Wait, did he want his best friend to think he was a good kisser? More thoughts for later. Future Prince Alex was going to have a lot of thoughts to process.

sort of, indirectly! I share a name with a band, who apparently named themselves after a person one of the members met once. I only learned of this a couple years ago

When was the last time you cried?

uhhhh probably a few months ago? it's not super frequent these days and I don't really keep track or anything but it does hit from time to time

Do you have kids?

I don't, and I expect that I never will

What sports do/have you played?

I'm counting skateboarding as a sport, of course, but for more traditional sports I've done everything from (american) football to baseball to basketball to tennis. a bit of disc golf with friends in the past. I enjoy sports! I just don't get to play them a whole lot

idk man maybe. I try to at least change the inflection of my voice to make it more obvious tho so it doesn't just fly over people's heads

1) Are you named after anyone? Nope, but, fun fact, my mom pushed to make me a junior. Dad wasn't having it.

2) Do you have any kids? Nope, no heirs and no progeny. My bloodline, mercifully, ends with me. (Ignoring that I have a younger sister with kids already).

3) Do you use sarcasm a lot? Absolutely! It's a great defense and coping mechanism.

4) When was the last time you cried? I teared up a lot on a long call with a good, special friend yesterday.

5) What's the first thing you notice about people? Faces in general. Eyes and smile, specifically. Hair probably, too.

6) Eye colour? Brown. I think they've been lightening up that last several years, though. Used to be very, very dark brown, but now it's pretty medium.

7) What sports do you/have you played? I was a band nerd, so closest I came to sports was doing marching band in high school and college. When I was in shape, I would bike a lot and play disc golf.

8) Any special talent? Nope, nothing that I can think of.

9) Where were you born? Houston. Still here, actually. Mostly because at this point I'm too lazy to learn a whole new set of streets and where things are.

Are you named after anyone? My first name, no. My mom heard Garth Brooks named his daughter Taylor (after James Taylor) and she loved it as a girls' name. My middle name is also my mom's middle name, my paternal great grandma's first name, and my maternal great great aunt's first name.

When was the last you cried? Lmao yesterday

Do you have kids? Absolutely the fuck not

What sports do you play/have you played? I played basketball for 2 or 3 years in grade school, played softball my freshman year, did golf for one summer in middle school, and i really enjoy disc golf now. However, my body rejects and makes me pay for even the most unassuming of activities, so I can't really do much at all without being in a tremendous amount of pain. I've also never been athletic and never enjoyed sports; my parents used to make me do one sport a year until I permanently injured both of my feet playing softball that I was allowed to just do extracurriculars instead.

Do you use sarcasm? No, never 😒

What is the first thing you notice about people? Honestly, probably what they're wearing and then their expression, which comes from working retail for so long. Sometimes you can just tell when someone's going to be a cunt.

What is your eye color? Blue

Scary movies or happy endings? Both tbh. I love horror (even though I'm fairly picky about it) and while a fair amount of horror does have happy endings, it definitely doesn't have to for me to enjoy it. But I love a feel good movie too.

Any talents? Um. I can wiggle my ears together and my right one on its own. I do handlettering, though with how shaky I've gotten, I'm definitely not as good as I used to be. And I think I can sing passably well.

For the AU game: Semi-ridiculous Sports!AU e.g. pickleball, competitive tag, etc.

My first thought is Steve, Lucas and Max play disc golf at the park. They've been playing for a couple months. Same time, same place. They have a whole group and that's THEIR time and THEIR park. But suddenly they show up at their normal Saturday time and what's this? Eddie, Dustin, Will, Mike and their LARP group have TAKEN OVER the park! Who are these freaks and how do they get rid of them? (This would be an AU where they don't already know each other.)

1) When Steve confronts Eddie, Eddie is very much you don't own the park. We got here first so suck it up buttercup. Which means each week the groups are showing up earlier and earlier to stake their claim, trading off on who gets there first.

2) One week when disc golf gets there first, the LARPers stick around to heckle them. Mostly by chanting insults from Monty Python. "Your mother was a hamster. Your father smelt of elderberries." etc. 

3) In retaliation the disc golfers invade the LARP, taking part in the battle by running around beaning as many people as they can with frisbees.

4) Eddie and Steve meet up for a peace summit when Dustin gets a bloody nose from taking a frisbee to the face.

5) They reach an uneasy detente that includes competitive, one-uppy type make-outs and dick touching that eventually turns into... Wait, I think maybe I actually like you? Are we sort of friends? Are we dating?

Bonus) They are dating. And once a month the two groups meet up for a free for all frisbee battle where they all dress up in elaborate historical costumes and throw frisbees at each other until somebody gets hurt or somebody calls the cops. (One of these people goes on to create the tv show Xena.)

Literally over a tik tok a few hours ago, a dad was brushing his older daughter's hair (like older teens I think?) and telling her that she's beautiful because she was saying her hairline looked weird and it was just so sweet

I do not, but I do want to have at least one! I'm stressed about being pregnant though, and the economy is not kid or house friendly rn, so that's a couple years in the future

I played little league baseball, and then dabbled in tennis, and now I play disc golf just casually with friends and family. I really want to get into pickle ball though.

Two days ago, when I had a ridiculous breakdown over something that should not have turned a hair. I'm doing okay now, though.

I loved softball in high school (I was a decent pitcher and excellent close fielder, at least as far as school girls teams go lol). Likewise table tennis, though it hardly took a great deal of skill to be on the girls team. I used to play soccer, but I doubt that I shall ever play it again for a variety of reasons not least of which is because of my back. Did a little bit of disc golf but I don't really have the stamina for it.

5'7" or so.

There it is. Instead of using funds to create a third category open to anyone who identifies differently than their bio sex TRAs just wore down an organization to let men bully their way into women's sports.

The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) has been forced to drop their new regulations on men who want to participate in women’s competitions after being sued by a trans-identified male player. The lawsuit was launched earlier this year by Natalie Ryan, who had been dominating women’s competitions prior to the PDGA attempting to rein in male competitors.

Ryan first filed a suit against the PDGA in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California this past February. In his complaint, he argued that a recently-adopted PDGA policy prohibiting trans-identified males from competing with women if they had undergone a “male puberty” violated his civil rights and California laws against discrimination.

“The policy adopted by the PDGA and [Disc Golf Pro Tour] is arbitrary and capricious and in violation of Plaintiff’s right to be free from discrimination based on her gender,” the suit said, arguing that policies restricting widespread male participation in women’s sport “denied [Ryan] and other transgender women, who in the eyes of California law are women, full and equal access to the accommodations, advantages, facilities, privileges, and/or services of [PDGA] organizations.”

Yesterday, a settlement between Ryan and PDGA was announced. While the full terms are not available for public consumption, part of the agreement included PDGA dropping the policy which banned males from competing with women unless they had begun transitioning prior to puberty. This change means that all males who had undergone at least two years of hormone therapy are able to compete with women once again.

In a statement, PDGA revealed that a lack of funds was part of the reason why they were unable to fight against Ryan’s litigation onslaught, with Ryan having filed suits against them in two separate states.

“The PDGA is not financially or logistically in a position to take the lead in multi-state litigation on this topic,” wrote the organization in their statement. “For the first time in recent memory, the PDGA will end the year with a net operating loss, and it is not in the best interest of our members to continue to allocate resources to further litigation.”

The rule revision is set to go into effect on January 1, 2024, and will be in place through at least the end of the 2025 season.

Following the settlement agreement, Ryan boasted of his victory on Instagram.

“All trans women will be equals at the elite level again. This is my victory. I had to be ruthless to get them to listen. I’m glad I can put that side of myself away,” he said.

Ryan has already signed up for a 2024 Tour Card and intends to play at most Disc Golf Pro Tour and Major events. 

The now-quashed PDGA policy is widely believed to have been proposed in response to Ryan’s performance in the female category, with the male athlete rapidly rising through the ranks and beating out elite female competitors.

In September of 2022 at the Disc Golf Pro Tour, Ryan easily defeated the world’s number 1 ranked female competitor, Kristin Tattar, taking home $9,000 in prize money. Months prior, at the Great Lakes Open in Milford, Michigan, Ryan walked away with $6,000 for a first-place performance, beating out the world’s current number 2 ranked female player.

Despite having only participated in women’s Disc Golf for a short few years, Ryan is currently ranked amongst the best “female” players in the world. Last year, after topping the Disc Golf Pro Tour, Ryan ranked into the top 5. Despite not participating in some major events this year due to his lawsuit, Ryan still ranks in the top 15.

Last year, two anonymous female disc golf players spoke with Quillette‘s Jon Kay and stated that Ryan’s biological sex was undoubtedly bolstering his success in the sport.

“I would say that one of the biggest advantages of the [male-bodied] players is their ability to scramble in tight situations when a disc goes off the fairway, to just stand there and blast a shot through the woods,” one of the women said. “I’ve seen both [trans player] Chloe [Alice] and Natalie [Ryan] do this. They’re just standing still and throw the kind of [forehand shot] that I’ve never seen a female throw even under perfect conditions.”

The other female player added: “What makes it worse is that Ryan’s form isn’t even that good. If it were, [he’d] be out-throwing us by even more. So while the rest of us spend years refining our form, trying to keep up and get more distance, [he’s] been in the sport only—what?—three years or something.”

Another female disc golf player, Jennifer Castro, revealed that she was aware of female athletes refusing to join tournaments where transgender players were enrolled due to the stark performance advantage.

“I personally know of women who refuse to sign up for events if a transgender is playing, not because we hate them but because we feel we have zero chance, so what is the point of wasting our money on registration fees?”

Speaking to Reduxx, Marshi Smith of the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS) condemned the PDGA and DGPT for buckling under pressure.

And I got to talk about some old shows that i used to watch when i was young with someone in my group who also watched it and I took my sketchbook with me and i got to draw and we had to write stuff for school but I did basically the bare minimum and its not like the teachers can like take us back there sooo all of us are going to get full credit as long as you turn it in which I did and then now I'm home and Spider-Man across the spider verse is out now so i can watch it now but my dad hasn't even watched the first one so we're trying to set that up now

A player on one side must toss their balloon to their teammate on the other side without breaking it. If the balloon breaks the two players must step out of the game and leave the remaining people. Tug of war is a test of physical strength and requires teamwork, strategy, and coordination among team members. Divide the players into two teams if you haven't already. Each team holds a specific end of the rope. The players usually stand side by side, with their feet braced and their bodies leaning back, using their combined strength to pull the rope. The team that successfully pulls the other team across the center line wins. Tug of War can be played in multiple rounds or as part of a larger team-building competition.
