I find it fascinating seeing the use of tone indicators circle around so much back to a similar way that my mom used them in early AOL message board days. Tone indicators are useful to us because they help people read how we are talking and the tone we intend so as to not alarm people when talking online. We don't have the ability to tell if anyone is serious by playful manner of facial and physical expression so they're useful to us online even now!

But the fact that they evolve and change is fun to watch even as I watch it circle around.

So here's some examples of American tone indicators and outside influences to them that I've seen since first being online:

My mom's age- AOL users/early message board system used a fabulously straightforward way of indicating tone:

::::begin sarcasm now::::, ::::laughing::::, ::::shaking my head::::

The usage of colons was an easy way to identify a tone indicator was coming. There was a very limited way of creating text and often message boards did not come equipped with rich text formatting so this was a perfect way to show what you meant. They tended to have indicators fully worded with no short/chatspeak.

Then two things happened near each other- cellphones and rich text formatting being more prominent in online spaces.

Starting with cellphones- when they became a more accessible thing, tone indicators changed and abbreviations of the sayings became prominent, originally known as "chat speak" which began to form much more readily in texts and online. These indicators tended to be indecipherable unless told what they meant and the indicators had to be memorized:

Rofl, lol, smh, istg, wtf, ruok,

These tone indicators persist today, but part of their legacy was the limitation on character counts. Most places had a 140 character limit, meaning you had to get your message across fairly quickly. A way to indicate tone was either go the abbreviation route, or use the rich text editing.

Rich text allowed for italics, bonding and underlining so people could use these tools to indicate tone. These also had to be learned, because not everyone read them the same way and sometimes different places online would have different etiquette on what each tone meant. Freeboards would often have one board to specify what each one was for:

Sarcasm was popularly italicized

Anger was often bolded

Underlining was used often for seriousness

CAPSLOCK WAS YELLING!!!!

BOLDED CAPSLOCK WAS REALLY FUCKING ANGRY!!!

ITALICIZED BOLDED CAPSLOCK WAS A CATACLISMIC EVENT EVEN WITH A PERIOD.

If you had the ability to strike through, it was a whisper or afterthought.

Doubling your rich text with different punctuation could change the tone.

But the internet also let people in America see other people's cultures more readily. We are notoriously bad for teaching about other cultures here but the internet did allow us something fun! An exchange of faces if you will.

In the West, we were using emoticons with other things (note that this was dependent on if it would not work if your HTML or CSS confused the brackets and parentheses etc. as coding):

:), :(, :O, >:(, =), =D, D8, D:<, O_O, ( • )( • ), >.>, 8===D~~~, [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅1̲̅0̲̅)̲̅$̲̅], ಠ__ಠ, ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ,

But now we could see that other people were making faces in different ways and the anime crowd caught on very quickly:

Boy do I LOVE emoticon indicators! A lot of them are still used today as well.

And then things shifted again when cellphones gave us emojis! Now tone indicators were colourful!

But they were not accessible as easily to PC users so there becomes a nice little divide between who is and isn't using them. Also there are so many now sometimes it's hard to figure out what the intended emotion is, considering they look different on different devices! But the younger age groups of my students are trained on emojis! So much so that if I ask them to draw happiness, they draw the happy emoji.

I'm sure I'm missing a few but right now we've been back to a combined group of tone indicators! Here on tumblr we are using the slash to indicate tone much like the original AOL message board users used the colon and we are shortening the words AND using abbreviations and some write out the whole thing! Its FASCINATING seeing it come full circle.

and the lead up too!!!!! the days up until you leave, he's sending you texts throughout the work day, things like "these consults driving me insane, can't wait until it's just you and me" "so excited to get away with you sweetheart" or he's texting you links of things to do while you the two of you are there - tourist places, maybe a wine tour, boat tours, maybe a beach or two. he's just so excited for that much needed break he's too stubborn to give himself, and most importantly he's excited to just be with you <3 🥰

and buying aaron clothes for him to wear 🤭 like of course you know what he looks the sexiest in, and of course he wants to please you hehe 🤭 so he doesn't argue against those tight polos showing off that strong torso of his, a tight button-up and almost looks like it's going to pop - again just exhibiting that hot dad bod and showing off his muscles in alllllll the right places <333333 🤤🤤🤤 and the shorts!!!!!!! the man has a hot pair of calves that he doesn't nearly show off enough thanks to the dress slacks he always wears - so those need to come out to play too

anddd he definitely does shopping of his own for you too 🤭 things for you to wear out and in the bedroom hehe 🥰😵‍💫

and it takes the two of you foreverrrrr to get ready in the morning, or to get ready for dinner, to go out, because either one of you just pounces the other because of how good they look 😵‍💫 the second aaron put on one of those sexy polos, you were a goner. you put on such a pretty dress, and within moments aaron already has it on the floor hehe <3333

but UGH just throughout the days the two of you are there - his eye bags nearly disappear, the tension in his shoulders are long gone, he's smiling and laughing more 🥹 he's just sooo carefree and even a bit giddy <3 walking around your vacation spot, both your hands are joined and he's swinging them back an forth lightly, bringing your hand to his lips, and simply kissing you no matter where with no hesitation 🥹

going on a boat tour with him 🩷💓💞💞🩷 he's standing behind you as you're taking in all the sights, his arms are wrapped around your waist, and he keeps presses kisses to your neck and UGH he's so happy to be in such a beautiful place with someone who's even more beautiful <3333

I think Lloyd would be 100% on board to try a sex machine. Princess, on the other hand, would require some convincing. 

As for where the notion of a sex machine originated, it’s definitely Lloyd’s idea. Being the more experienced of the two, I can see him wanting to have a “first” with Princess, and experiment in a way that he didn’t have a chance to with the casual partners he had in the past. (Casual sex has been the entirety of his adult sex life, so… yeah. Not a lot of chances to develop the trust necessary for an element like a sex machine.) 

Lloyd’s enthusiasm for trying a sex machine probably wouldn’t be matched by Princess- at least, not initially. I can’t imagine Princess not being at least a bit shocked by the idea. Has she watched porn with sex machines before? Sure, of course. Did she find those videos exciting? Absolutely- but reality is different from fantasy. 

Princess’ main objection to using a sex machine is that it feels cold and unemotional. Having spent a lot of time getting off on her own, she’s very aware that a huge part of what turns her on (and helps her finish) is the connection she feels with Lloyd. Her other concern is that a sex machine would be repetitive and wouldn’t have any variation to keep her engaged in the experience. Fortunately, Lloyd would’ve already taken these objections into account, especially the first one. 

For Lloyd, the benefit of the sex machine is that he gets to concentrate on Princess’ reactions and pleasing her completely. He wouldn’t be passive at all. Quite the contrary- he’d be touching her, teasing her, kissing her, talking her through it, making sure the scene was mentally stimulating for her. As for the machine being repetitive, Lloyd would remind her that was by design. Steady and consistent isn’t a flaw in a sex machine, it’s a benefit. She’ll love it, he swears. 

After some consideration, Princess would be on board with the sex machine. Lloyd would take his time, lingering over the foreplay and probably blindfolding her to help her forget that the machine was there at all. okay so, hope is this really loud and outspoken girl, she speaks out about anything that she deems to be wrong. she’s also extremely intelligent. it’s the fifties but she manages to get into university at 18, she’s the only girl in the class and she’s studying classical literature. during the first lecture, no one is sitting next to her, looking down on her for both her age and gender, until a 21 year old lyall walks up to the desk asking if the seat next to her is taken. after that they’re sitting next to each other every lecture, they’re both flirting with the other but are oblivious that their feelings are returned

one lecture, hope is arguing with the professor about the reading list and lyall is just simping over her. it’s in that moment where he decides he’s gonna ask her out, it’s better to try and fail than never try and not know. except, in true holyall fashion, hope beats him to it by mere minutes asking him out first

they meet in september and by december of the same year they’re engaged, but they’re slower to get married because i am a strong believer in (ethnically) jewish hope and lyall who was born and raised atheist. her parents are approving of her engagement, in a “but daddy i love him” (by taylor swift) way. she doesn’t care for whether or not he’s jewish (although since she was a kid she’d always imagined marrying someone who was) but he wants to do everything correctly and he ends up converting to judaism out of his own choice. they’re married in early 1959 and in spring of the year after remus is born

i am a very large supporter of #stophopeandlyallhate i believe they were good parents and i will not take anyone’s word against that 😋

i also need to mention that they are both tall, hope is around 178cm/5’10” and lyall is around 189cm/6’2” but hope is definitely the type of person to always be wearing heels so she ends up being more or less the same height as lyall most days

they both have larger than life personalities. both of them are extroverts which was always a stark contrast to remus who was always very much an introvert

I went to my first munch last night, which is a type of casual social event that started off as a BDSM community thing, but which now has some overlap in the general kink and polyamory communities. They are completely vanilla events, just a way to meet other people in the local community. I found the event through FetLife, which I am not very active on but happened to log into while battling insomnia in the early hours of Saturday morning.

To be clear, the game store was hosting a normal, vanilla game night, and the FetLife group chose it as the location for the munch. The store had nothing to do with the munch itself and likely didn't even know that the group was anything but a normal friend group playing games.

I initially wanted to go because my husband has been having a really rough time connecting with anyone on dating apps, so I was hoping that an in-person event might work out better, but I ended up being the only femme person there 🙃

It definitely felt kinda awkward sitting there as the only female-presenting person in this group of dudes who could, if they hadn't already, look up my FetLife profile from the list of attendees at any time and find out what gets my rocks off 😣

It wasn't a bad experience per se, but it also wasn't what either of us was hoping for. We may try a different one next month which is a little further away distance-wise but seems to draw a larger crowd. That one's also at a coffee shop, which we both think is a better setting for chatting and getting to know people than playing a competitive game at a larger vanilla game event.

(To make things even more awkward and uncomfortable, and because I never get to have fun reactions to anything, the dude sitting next to me was wearing this really cloying fragrance, and by the end of the night I felt like I couldn't get a full breath because my chest was so damned tight 😭 No reaction in my nose whatsoever. It's like the universe said, "You wanted sneezing? Oh, we thought you said wheezing. Sorry, no takebacksies.")

Be yourself.

I see too many kids transform themselves from sweet children who barely did anything wrong in class, to those mean and stuck up ones who constantly disrupt and are rude to teachers. I recognise that some people are just like this, but i’ve literally witnessed first hand people changing completely to get into/join that group. I was also one of those people and I was quickly humbled before things progressed too far 😭.

Here are some lessons I’ve learned from surviving a British public secondary school + other gained knowledge

1) You will find your group of people as long as you keep remaining yourself, these friends will be the friends you can be authentically you around

2) Don’t change yourself to be anything your not, this will not end well and invite company that you don’t even fit into

3) Keep being yourself and you will find like minded people, once you get to yr10 your friend groups will finalise and will most likely be smaller. The less friends you have, the more easier it is to connect and be yourself with

4) Look into possibilities of hobbies and interests to understand yourself better. Join clubs/extracurricular activities (in school or out of school). Research at home things you might possibly be into, learn new things online

5) Who cares if people look at you weirdly? Honestly if your having fun being yourself and people look at you strange for doing so then that is their problem (obviously within reason because sometimes ppl are just weird fr)

6) Care about your future, focus on what you want to achieve in the years to come. Don’t dumb yourself down for anybody, listen to your teachers when they are genuinely just trying to teach, don’t be difficult and stop others in the class from learning just because you don’t want to, don’t skip class (from year 9ish to 10 onwards, those years contain important content for your GCSE’s and missing out on those will impact your grades) don’t be like the kids from my school who celebrate having 1s (a grade one is a ‘U’ or ungraded, you need a 4 to pass)…

7) Have aspirations, don’t just aspire to do the lowest of jobs for simplicity or out of laziness. Strive to work towards your goals, have dreams! Keep motivated to do well, study and always aim high

8) Don’t do what you know you wouldn’t actually do if you didn’t feel pressured or influenced.

9) Don’t change yourself or stress about boys. The wrong ones are a waste of time and extra stress. Don’t force yourself onto anyone and I mean this because there are people who honestly are too obsessed for their own good with men and do not care if they are relationships or not 😭(you can tell I am a witness of this one). Honestly pray for the right one to come to you, no matter how long it takes, I promise one will just slide into your life just like that 😣 (Speaking from experience). Just be normal around them and if they don’t like you for letting out the side you only share when comfortable then they are not the one, trust

10) Find and invest in a unique personal style. This helps define you as a person, knowing what you truly like that isn’t sculpted by social media or heavily influenced by others around you (although it is perfectly fine to like those styles too! You can merge them to make them more you). This does take time though, break out of those aesthetic boxes and just wear whatever you like. Get Pinterest and put everything in a board so it’s easier to look at.

okay !! i’ll tell you a plot for a yuji story i (sadly) don’t think i’ll ever get around to posting and came up with 2 years ago. when it comes to my fics, i’m only ever rlly motivated for canonverse and this one takes place during ww2 times. it’s also loosely based on a movie i watched years ago :)

(this is also long i typed a lot more than i thought i would ahhh prepare for the errors too 😣)

okay so the name i came up for it at the time was amor necat (love kills). so basically, like i said, it takes during ww2 times at a boarding school in the middle of nowhere. the few students at the school are selected by the headmaster, a certain woman with stitches across her head ;) kenny’s made plenty of connections, so ordinary people see the school as prestigious and if you’re invited, you’re extremely lucky

when yn enters the school she learns that everyone is given a number. when a previous student leaves, whoever is the new student will take the number. yn is assigned #1 when she arrives to the (only) class. the one who tells her about the # system and everything else she needed to know was yuji (#5)

here are the students when yn enrolls: megumi (#4), yuji (#5), riko (#6), yuta (#7), nobara (#8), junpei (#10), inumaki (#11), maki (#12), mai (#13), miwa (#14), kokichi (#15)

theres a bunch of introductory stuff ofc to the school system. most important thing to note is that at the end of every month, the best student is chosen to be sent to an even better school

riko and megumi caught yns eye from the start. riko is the bigger eye-catcher though because she always seemed so afraid, and whenever headmaster kenny visited she was sweating profusely and refused to make eye contact. megumi catches her attention because he’s so reluctant to accept some of the rules set in place (early curfew, weekly shots, daily medicine to keep students health amazing)

a week after yn is at the school, there is the monthly “moving up” announcement. junpei is the one to go. the next month, riko was announced to be the student being sent off to a better school, and at the news she freaks out and throws up. yn and yuji offer to take her to the nurse, and when they leave kenny walks in

another week passes and things go as normal. while they had gym class outside, yn went inside to go to the bathroom. she saw a trail of water and followed it to find a soaking wet riko dressed in a hospital gown. riko gives yn a note before she tells yn she had to leave. yn reads the note, which basically says that the school was not what it seemed and she needed to leave asap. yn promised to come back the next morning and when she did, riko was not there

the first person yn shows the note to is yuji, who’s reluctant to believe it. megumi, listening in, grabbed the note and read it. he asks yn if it was only riko she saw. after some back and forth questioning, megumi tells yn that tsumiki (former #9) was also chosen and sent away to a better school. but since students can get mail and megumi received none, he’s afraid something happened to her and the school is behind it

time passes and eventually the three come up with a plan to go to the headmaster’s office and find any strange documents. megumi is basically watching out as yuji n yn go into the office. they find files of previous students, and all of their files say “sent to the basement” besides three, gojo (former #1), geto (former #2) and shoko (former #3)

before they can open a drawer with a red sticker, the door opens and in walks kenny and mahito. yn and yuji hid under the desk as they discuss at the coffee table across the office. yn and yuji overhear kenny talking about preparing sorcerers for ww2 since it’s a huge advantage on their end. mahito talks about how smart she is for disguising a human experimentation lab as a boarding school, and being able to find sorcerers who only need to awake their dormant potential. there was a knock on the door, so they leave and a fee moments later megumi walks in and tells them they have to leave immediately

they group in an empty room and talk about what they heard and found out. yuji mentions the basement everyone was sent to, including tsumiki. megumi brings up the door all the people “moving up” would go into. they were told it was the garage, but it didn’t make sense since the road in the front of the school didn’t go towards the side nor the back

during their talk they hear commotion in the hall and look out to see mai and kokichi being dragged somewhere by men in uniform. this prompts them to decide to go to the door megumi was talking about, which they thought (and were right about) was the basement

a few days pass when yn and yuji go together to the basement since the headmaster was meant to be out. they see multiple operating tables and other medical equipment in the main space. but as they went into the back section of the basement, they’re horrified to see three bodies (gojo, geto n shoko) frozen in separate tanks. while they were alive they also realized something was wrong and got caught investigating in the basement

yn stumbles back and yuji helps her up when he realized the tank she stood in front of held a frozen tsumiki they both looked around the entire area to find the previous students frozen (except riko who died during operation)

yn and yuji are found and knocked out by kenny. they wake up tied up to operating tables by themselves. yn and yuji tip their tables over so they could knock over a cart and cut themselves out of the rope. a nurse comes in and tries to stop them, but yuji holds him bsck while yn runs

yn and yuji wrre knocked out so they didn’t realize it had been a day. megumi, who roped in yuta, maki, and inumaki, lights the school on fire because he assumed yn and yuji got killed (and also fuck the school anyway).

yn makes her way through the school in the fire as she searches for megumi. maki got burnt by a fallen beam but megumi saved her. yuta also found yuji, and they searched for yn. when they found yn, she and yuji hugged, but kenny shot yuji three times in the back (yuta was busy with a soldier)

yuji and yn fight kenny (mostly yuji doing the fighting). yuji holds kenny back from attacking yn and tells her to run. she refused until yuta dragged her away. outside, yn, yuta, megumi and maki watched the school explode. i imagine the final scene to be yuji in tears as he finds relief in the fact that yn escaped before he dies in the explosion

7. tell us about the plot of the first fanfic you ever wrote.

oh my god, it's so embarrassing. i was 12 years old and i was obsessed with the Dolan twins. they were huge back then on vine and YouTube. i was using wattpad at the time. and the fic i created was "the dolan twins are my bullies" 😭 IT'S EMBARRASSING EVEN THINKING ABOUT IT. i was so new to writing, so my writing was fucking horrid (bad spelling, bad punctuation, horrible plots, etc.) and it got a few hundred thousand views. i refuse to read it again now that i'm almost 22 years old 😭

10. at what point in the process do you come up with titles, and how easy or hard is that for you?

funny enough, titles are the second biggest thing i struggle with in story-building (summaries are #1). i try to build around titles to get a feel of how i want the fic to go, but then i get so obsessive over trying to come up with a title that matches the energy and vibes i want to convey. like, it's extremely hard and exhausting. because also, the title won't match the plot and then the fic won't match the title, so it gets really messy. i WANT to try writing first and then creating the title after, but my friggin' brain won't let me use that technique 💔

16. where is your favorite place to write?

in a moving vehicle 🩷 i'm a huge lover of long rides, so the gentle rocking motions of the car/bus/train calms me down and puts me in a state of tranquility and creativity. also, being out in nature helps me shut my brain off and focus on what needs to be done. i usually write in bed, alone. i've soon realized that isolation is what negatively impacts my creative processes 🥺

20. what is your favorite trope to write?

oooooo, that's a tricky one. THERE'S SO MANY TROPES I LOVE TO WRITE AND WANT TO WRITE. enemies to lovers is just *chef's kiss* 😚🤌🏼 delicious. add in some angst and slow burn ??? that is top fucking TIER. a close second is definitely husband x wife fics. especially protective, guard dog husband fics. that's a good oomph.

22. describe your writing process from scratch to finish.

- develop inspiration from a song, gif, moodboard, movie scene, etc.

- write it down in the notes app

- listen to a playlist to create a vibe of whatever fic i want to write

- write a brief summary and warning tags i want to include in the fic (this helps me build around it)

- write one paragraph

- procrastinate for a few days

- go on pinterest and create a board for inspiration

- write the next few paragraphs until i reach mental exhaustion

- don't write for another few days

- procrastinate and talk about my fic ideas to my fiancé rather than sit and write

- listen to music to get in the mood

IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE MOOD I'M IN. when i'm so excited about a new fic i want to write, i'm an over-writer. i go overboard and don't realize that i wrote well over 10k words. when i'm in a depressive, mentally exhausted state, i lose care in my writing and write just to write, not really enjoying myself, so that causes me to be an under-writer. i'm one or the other. there's no in between, unfortunately 😣

If dancing counts as a sport then I danced for about fifteen years quite intensely! Otherwise, no. I dislike sports so much actually 😣 I used to pretend to be sick to get out of PE at school. I don't like the physicality and conflict and outside-ness of many sports. I am a squishy little indoors person!

Do you use sarcasm?

Yes! It is why writing in Sasuke's voice is easier for me than writing in Naruto's.

What is the first thing you notice about people?

Hmm, I don't meet new people often actually. I think in general, I am not very good at reading people and it takes me a while to properly make friends. I think both online and IRL, I notice someone's way of speaking/writing/communicating. Their tone and voice and word choice etc.

What's your eye colour?

Very dark brown.

Scary movies or happy endings?

I can't do scary movies eeek. Thrillers, I can do, and I enjoy watching people play scary games sometimes, but horror is too much for me. In general movies are kind of overwhelming for me, I don't watch many of them!

So by default, I guess I like happy endings? I do think for me to enjoy them they have to be purposeful and earned (not necessarily by the characters but by the story).

Any talent?

Writing! While it has ebbed and flowed in its presence over the course of my life, it has always been with me in some form and I am proud of how I have grown with it, especially in the last two years. I am a pretty fast reader as well so I guess that's another one?

What are your hobbies?

Writing, reading, board games, and occasionally crafting things (sewing, crochet, painting miniatures).

I am honestly quite happy with my current job (board game adjacent, relatively not stressful, lets me play with spreadsheets lol). I will say, I wouldn't want to do any of the creative hobbies I love dearly, especially writing, as a job as I strongly believe it would ruin my love for them.

rambling (a.k.a. why i don't want to write as a job)

Even if I worked for myself and got to create the things I wanted, I don't believe I would enjoy it, perhaps simply because it would be a job and it would become something I had to do instead of chose to do. I also believe that whatever I created wouldn't feel truly mine. I think part of the joy of a hobby is getting to do it whenever, however, whyever you want - I value that freedom highly.

For example, if I were to write a novel, even if I wrote it for myself, I would need to, eventually, pitch it to agents/publishers etc and it would always be in the back of my mind that 'this needs to be something that an agent/publisher believes would sell'. Even if I wrote it exactly as I wanted, perhaps someone further down the publishing line would ask for changes to improve its commercial value because, hey, they have to make money too, no? (And perhaps this view is jaded from working in a retail/sales environment for a couple years but if anything, I am even more sure of it now.)

From my time in uni studying creative writing (in which we got some experience pitching short pieces/essays to journals/student publications), I saw the level of ambition needed to succeed in a career like this and I just…don't want that kind of stress to be tied to my finances and living situation. I don't want my ability to be creative (which can wax and wane with the moon, it feels) to be what my paycheck hinges on. Perhaps this is because my creativity is so personal and sacred to me - it is the channel via which my soul interacts with the world - but perhaps it is to everyone? Maybe I am simply very sensitive about it, as I am with many things.

Studying creative writing made me fall out of love with the craft for a couple years, constantly overthinking my words and weighing them against form, content, industry, moral and message. I distinctly remember writing an memoir/essay I was quite proud of part way through my third year (within which I was quite vulnerable about myself) and being disappointed with my final grade on it, as it was so detached from my own personal pride in it. (To be fair though, looking back, it was not as technically sound as I had believed it at the time.)

To be clear, it is not that I wish to create completely void of external input and influence, and I do understand the importance of assessment and external feedback when it comes to developing technical skill! But for the point where I am in my life now, where I have done some formal learning and am starting to realise the infinity and freedom of informal learning, I just think there is a sweet spot where the amount and type of external input/influence is nuturing and kind and motivating and authentic. Too little influence and it can feel like screaming into the void - no resonance. Too much and . . . well, you get the above experience, where it feels like the thing you created as well as the process of creation becomes no longer wholly yours.

For me and what I have learned thus far in my life, my writing is best as this weird wildspace. That's what works for me! And I share my writing online in the purest sense of that word - share - because I want to show this small community something that means something to me, with no kind of transaction behind it. It's just out there, and you're also out there, and if you stumble upon it (or go looking for it) I hope this thing that means something to me means something to you too. I hope it creates resonance with you in this incomprehensible vastness of life.

July 🕶 2023 Monthly - Aquarius

Whole of your energy: The Hermit

Well…you’re just not going to like me much this month 😆 That’s okay, it happens with every sign periodically. This whole reading is rooted in healing trauma (probably) and unconscious impulses or behaviors inside of you that cause you to sabotage yourself and your relationships. I’m being told to be honest about this, so ok…I did a first reading for you, laid everything out, and scoffed at it, because it was too good, with a lot of confusion from you, because you were suspicious, and nothing in this reading made any sense. Very romantic, very fairy tale, happily ever after. No numbers connected everything, the oracles were off, it didn’t flow like my readings normally do - or at all. You were completely not into it, suspicious, confused. Zero flow, a surface level reflection with no depth. My guides know how I work bear with me lol, it mirrors you 💯 I heard “now put it back and redo it”. Which I don’t do, ever, I never try to force or manipulate anything, I just read what I get. So I was so bothereddddd, but did it, because “control” or something, and then this reading came out, coming for you directly and flowing as it normally does. It describes the exact same energy, in a different way so that now I can tell how you’re the sabotager, because your person is madly in love with you and plans on forever, period.

Your lack of trust or being overly suspicious of GOOD things is a problem, not a strength. Well. It’s a strength if you’re surrounded by thieves, liars, stalkers and crazy people, but you’re not. You have someone genuinely crazy about you, and you’re pushing them away. The Hermit is an energy of going inside of yourself to work these issues out, you’ll be needing to. 5 Swords is conflicts, mind games, proving a point, needing to be right, no matter what damage it costs others. You’re having to figure out what you want, but you project that on other people like they don’t know what they want, and then wound them in some way before they can do it to you. You’re safer alone, in your mind, and that’s a trauma response to something deeper that needs healing. I’m not a counselor so…that is someone that could really help you work through this better than me, I just read cards & energy 🧡 They’re online and everything these days, it’s easier. 4 Wands:

Either you had a very serious relationship in the past that ended, or this may be some level of family trauma and abandonment. I say something with so much depth & pain in such a textbook sort of way, I know, I’m sorry 😣 You do too… You have healed from this situation, in your conscious mind, but the responses from you in emotional situations seem to mirror this one, like you expect all relationships to operate or end like this one has, and that’s not the case. It’s a repeated message here that whatever your experience is - it’s moot with this person. Throw it out, you’re starting from scratch. Easier said than done right, but pretend you’ve never done this before and you may be pleasantly surprised, is more where Spirit is going with it.

You could have literally moved away from a toxic family situation, 6 Swords is your energy and can indicate moving homes, states, countries, or just emotionally moving on. The person in this card packs their swords (lessons), and their family on board this boat, moving from choppy waters and 5 Swords pain/conflict, to smoother waters, peace, and calm. Both Aquarius energies. 8 Cups in the row before is similar, and also connected to this 4 Wands, a home, family, relationship. Either you left or someone else did, but it’s changed your life…for the better. Eventually. After the pain, mourning, heartbreak, healing, you’ve moved on. Taking that step to move on has changed everything for you and has put you on a path to your destiny 😎, where The Magician shows you being able to create anything you want for yourself.

Ace of Pentacles:

This opportunity comes in the form of a person that’s coming towards you now, however you meet them idk. King of Wands, this is someone that’s going to help you heal, they could be a soulmate. They wholeheartedly choose YOU, there are no other options…or they probably do have options, being Wands, but they don’t even pay them any mind because they’re crazy in love with you, period. Being this King, they’ll come to you, they act first, they chase what they want. You only have to be open to what they’re offering you, and 2 Cups shows you love them too. But. You’re messing it up! With your isms. Isms may vary 🙏 Which I don’t see scaring them off by any means, it’s just making a lovely situation more chaotic and mind gamey, harsh words possibly being said from a place of trauma or redirected past bs, like why? What does that benefit you? That’s why you’re needing to be in Hermit this month. Spirit is like Aqua, go to your room and think about what you’ve done. Or are doing*

Knight of Cups:

This person is asking you out, taking you out, doing whatever they can to show you that you mean a lot to them. And you’re like “meh”. Why are you like “meh”? You don’t believe them! You’re reading the situation from a brain space, not a heart space, they’re full of passion and love for you and you’re over here analyzing every action to death, looking for a flaw. What’s the catch? That was what your whole first reading was. Perfect relationship, full of love, and you were like what’s the catch? When are they going to flip the script and play me for a fool? They’re just going to hurt me. Stop that 🛑, it may have applied in the past, but with this person, there is no catch. They’re the catch 😁

4 Cups:

You still haven’t figured it out through July, but this card is a minor arcana, most of them are, so you can decide to learn or heal this whenever you do. 4 Cups is apathy, dissatisfaction, not really believing this person, not taking their offers, just in your chair like “hmph” while they’re offering you a boba tea 🧋And you love boba tea so it’s just flat out stubbornness really. Apply to whatever you do love, they’re offering it. The Empress clarifies, showing this situation is cause for you to grow, but first you have to accept…love. 8 Swords is the advice I pulled…release yourself from this self sabotaging attitude and situation. Sure, you could be alone. Forever. Or, 2 Cups, you love this person too. Whaaat are you doing? Take the tea, thank them, and let them know it! Maybe make them some tea too, they’re being awfully patient about this for anyone that would come up as Wands 😆 More time does need to be spent in this Hermit energy, so you can sort your feelings and place them appropriately. What about this person has caused doubt in you? I think you’ll find most of what your feeling isn’t even about them, it’s just existing in you & you’re projecting on them. Because The Empress shows up, these could be deep family wounds, needing to break generational curses and traumas. Needing to choose yourself, how do you think, how do you react, how do you WANT to be or what would you change in your family dynamic if you could? What feels like a repeat in your life that you feel doomed to live? You can choose to consciously NOT do that. I think this person only wants to help you with this, or they’re being sent to you to trigger it so you will do it on your own, either way. You both show up as Kings, it can be romantic or platonic and you both just love each other, could also be someone in the family that totally gets it and you in a way most people couldn’t fathom.
