Y'know here in the bsd fandom we like to talk a lot about our favorite duos.

But I'd like to see more enthusiasm around people's favorite trios.

Without colors or context, this simple and stupid comic of mine feels so, so tense; It's ominous. The difference from the tone of my last doodle is low-key hilarious though. watching two dozen interviews of wes ball talk about how he made the maze runner movies is genuinely such a pleasure to watch. it's so so clear that he deeply loves the content of the maze runner books while still understanding that they're fucking insane and makes next to no sense. the vision he has for the movies are unparalleled, the way he slims down the books while still upping the character moments is so impressive!! he was able to capture the heart of the series while still making it really accessible to a general audience. it has a clear trilogy feel to it, which a lot of trilogies do NOT have. and the best part is the cast LOVES him, you can tell just by the way they describe and poke fun of wes that this project would NOT work without him. also the way the cast NEVER talks about dashner is so fucking good. they're like 'omg there's wes, the genius, doing a one man show haha so silly, ily wes' and then it hard cuts to someone being like 'james is on set a lot.'

devilsoupe's characterization of shi mei in to love without consuming is absolutely fabulous because i didn't realize how funny shi mei could be when he's not masking.

but it's also devastating because at that means that this is how shi mei would have been able to live had he just had someone he could confide in. shi mei didn't have to live in disgust and fear, feeling increasingly cornered with the only tools his mother left him before dying in the same grotesque, tragic way that every butterfly boned beauty had. and will. and will. unless he does something.

there are a lot of circumstances affecting this. i still don't quite like hua bin'an. but thinking about it, the one difference that stands out the most to me in that canon divergence is this:

chu wanning knew.

xue zhengyong knew.

sisheng peak knew.

and of these people who did know, they chose to reach out. they chose to defy tianyin pavilion's "will of heaven" because heaven has got to be bullshit if it really does excuse the genocide and rape and trafficking of an entire fucking species.

they chose to help shi mei. and the thing is, the thing is, in canon, they probably would have too.

we can't blame shi mei for never telling them, not when we know how afraid he must have been.

but at the same time - oh. shi mei did not have to be alone in this world. shi mei did not have to slowly and increasingly chip away at his own morality, despite being a doctor, despite wanting to help people, because he could have had a choice.

he could have had a choice.

it didn't have to turn out the way it did.

but everyone in erha is a product of their circumstances and the abuse they have gone through, and isn't that the message? things could have been different - but the world has hurt itself for so long that these people have forgotten they could have been different at all.

Actually full disclosure, not to be a fake Mochijun fan, but the reread I finished this week was the first time I've read Pandora Hearts in its entirety since I was a teenager, and MAN it hits different now that I'm not fourteen.

I don't have the brain capacity to get into all of it now, but man. man. Experiencing the back half of Pandora Hearts with adult eyes and comparing that to your teenage half-memories is a wild time.

It's also very funny that my favorite character went from Oz to Gilbert given that I started reading this series for the first time when I was a year or two younger than Oz, and now I'm Gil's exact age.

it is absolutely caused by my love for the trope where a character becomes inseperable from a dead loved one's item but i think don should have been able to keep little bunny as a comfort item. its not about how feasible it would be for don to sneak into that room a second time n take it without isabella noticing its about how. well he simply deserved to have it i think

favorite underrated tddkbk dynamic is when Izuku and katsuki are getting along, mending their friendship so they can be the childhood friends they were meant to be if katsuki wasn't emotionally constipated at age 4 and Shouto looks at them from a distance like 'I'm so glad they get along c: why do I feel bad tho :/? maybe I want what they have, having a childhood friend would have been nice' and the three of them go like this for MONTHS until the feelings realization slaps the three of them in the face at the same time
