watched i saw the tv glow
#this movie is incredible and is altering my brain chemistry as we speak#it is beautiful and soul crushing and inspiring and agonizing#its too relatable#spoilers incoming#i cannot stop thinking about the scene at the end where owen/isabelle is at work#screaming IM DYING HELP ME and everyone shuts down#just to apologize later and get ignored#and the chalk drawing with THERE IS STILL TIME written on it gave me chills#there is still time isabelle i promise there is still time#as i got to the final scene i thought please dont end here#and it ended there#this movie is a tragedy#and i dont remember the last time a film stuck with me like this#i wish i couldve punched through the screen and grabbed isabelles hand and guided her back to the pink opaque#its just such a good trans allegory and i wish i could have seen her thrive#i saw the tv glow#is probably one of my favorite movies now

i actually can't deal with characters who objectively MUST have fucked up and weird relationships with their bodies. five hargreeves... chase davenport... echo bad batch... jason todd????... wade wilson?!?!?!?... link loz?!?!?!!?... ZELDA LOZ?!?!!?!?!?

underfell is actually a really cool concept, the reason i hate it is how everyone focuses on edgy sans instead of everyone else. pacifist flowey sounds so cool!! and i also just love the idea of frisk having scary dog privilege lol. and frisk challenging the ways of the underground in a much more intense way... so fucking cool. but when you go in the tag it is basically ALL sans. disappointment at its finest but that's every undertale au so
YEAH its soo so fun to explore with the worldbuilding and how the characters’ different motivations would affect the overall story but there is NOTHING its all the short sweaty guy :( yea he has his moments of cool shit but other characters can too!! just give ‘em a chance!!!

my favorite thing about nimona is that they didn't give her a backstory to why she was a shapeshifter. just that she was. it was her normal reality that she had lived for over a thousand years. that despite doing nothing wrong she was labeled as a monster from the beginning of time. the entire kingdom was only built to protect the world from her just wanting to exist free to be whatever she wanted.
this movie isn't even a trans allegory at this point, it is The transgender movie.

Idk if this has been asked before but anything you wanna say about Lycion? like I love how he's basically a trans allegory
I love it too! I love Lycion so much, all the canaries to be honest, they're my favorite gender.
Here's his extra from the adventurer's Bible for those who haven't seen it
I think people smarter than me have made great analysis of his character and how it relates to being trans/body dysmorphia. But I'm really happy he got a body where he feels more comfortable in, and I love the bit from the beastmen monster tidbit where Laios judges him for not being an accurate furry and Lycion calls him an wannabe lmao. Get his ass Lycion
I am also completely in love with his friendship with Fleki. Makes me really happy to see an intense friendship between opposite genders cause it's so rare. And they're both so precious.
Getting a little off topic but I can't with the canaries... Did you know Otta is Butch/Masc presenting? I couldn't tell because the Elves are all so androgynous I assumed the short hair was normal but apparently its an active choice for her to look more masculine I love it.

one of my favorite parts of nimona is that she never explains her backstory to ballister. the audience sees all of it, but nimona is never put in the position of having to beg for ballister’s trust back by baring all of her past and her reasons.
in fact, bal is seen as in the wrong for failing to hold up the truths of who she is in the present over whatever her past was rumored to be.
just. what a good choice for a movie that’s a trans allegory, but also in general as a commentary on people growing and changing.
