From this post I made earlier. I'll start with Where First, When Fess, Who Final, Why Fandom, and What Favorite. I'll expand the 'W's from that if I can and can focus it.
Where First
I think the first setting I made was Zavax, the Land of the Dead or Necromancers' Country. Zavax's first "king" started life out as a gravedigger whose name I haven't decided on. He does do an enemies to lovers thing with an adventuring party's lady knight leader from another kingdom prior to his own crowning. They don't marry? I think? They do get accused of having a kid when they both disappear conveniently at the same time during a long-running war (while they're adventurers and not otherwise important), but they're just looking after a kid. Their relationship gets angsty once they attain titles and shit. I don't recall if I decided for certain that their arranged spouses make arrangements and relieve the angst in favor of political intrigue and shenanigans and letting them be happy (as determined by an idol-bound deity of love).
When Fess
I have an Infinite Loops derived AU. At the core of it is Senai Orathi, formerly a resident of Zavax. Now he manages a widely branching creation that is the whole multiverse of "things I write." It also happens to form the foundation of similar creations managed by his neighbors. It's all well and good until something storms the mansion and fucks things up, at which point the authorities get involved, and they hate that the mansion makes them bipedal and fleshy for Senai's health. Also, they don't feel like Senai is a person having come from one of the worlds he manages. Really, the only reason they let him be is because all of the documentation for whatxs broken is written in Senai's language. Also because he has like one friend who actually enjoys Senai's company (and cooking) or maybe she (they?) knew his predecessor and promised to look after things.
Time in the Overworld is referenced by cosmic events a few times. I think specifically by stars bursting. That said, there's not much that makes Senai or anyone around him feel multiple universe-rebootingly (Big Bang and Singularity shenanigans, not time loopingly) old. A pity that.
Who Final
The latest character I've thought about is Stray. He's a thief, twice caught, and he gets roped into a challenge to shorten his and his teammates' sentences. They're not much of a team, and that's not the important part (even if he's a tiebreaker). The important part is that he keeps Witch (that's literally what she introduces herself as) and her team from reducing their sentences and ends up going free early.
Only he's not free. Witch invites him to her house in the woods. The invitation is misconstrued by everyone to mean "fuck you, you're my bitch now," only worded nicer. This leads into a sort of slice of life story where Stray cleans up Witch's neglected house and garden (miraculously standing after many wars and years of overgrowth and no one living there) and accidentally becomes a witch himself.
It's a better life than going back out on the street and potentially getting caught stealing again, but it's a huge stress living up to expectations that exist in the minds of everyone except the person that matters. The city is thankful for the potions he brews once he figures out how to make them (and read and garden and a slew of other skills).
Why Fandom
This is a weird combination. Reasoning/purpose and media… I know I've pulled concepts, but I don't think I've ever touched purpose beyond "fun" and that's not something I need a show or something to draw from. There's an argument to be made for the Locke-r Arcade drawing from Homestuck's "remote friends are real friends" idea, but I don't know.
What Favorite
Magic I think might be my favorite thing across everything, but that's pretty broad. Necromancy is probably my favorite brand of magic (I do play BG graveyard shenanigans in MtG), though my early ideas were less about raising the dead and more the aesthetic of dead things being involved in more conventional blasty magic.
This leads into Nuemin Tilus/Dodger Stone. He literally harness the power of souls, his own and others, and uses it to shoot concentrated fire.
