Hello again, desk issue girl (couldn't think of a better name ๐Ÿ˜‚).... i hear you. Furniture I can afford is rubbish and I make do. I literally ended up using a camping table I brought from a hardware store as a desk under my windows so it would fit in my room with my bed rather then placing elsewhere. Things you have to do......
But anyways enough whining, I really came to say those pics of the shelf inspo are so pretty. Trends pffff what ever. If you love them, they look pretty and do the job just go for gold using your dads tools and buy a load of straps if you need to strap them on the roof of your car ๐Ÿ˜† (Clark Griswold style).
hahahaha listen, driving on the interstate with furniture strapped to my roof feels like BEGGING fate to strike me down. I don't know if I'm THAT bold!
furniture is such a curse, honestly! I just want stuff made of solid wood, but that apparently costs thousands of dollars these days (๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ) so it's not really in the realm of feasibility, especially if you have multiple pieces you're looking to replace.
ergo... turning to my recently-retired father for use of his power tools, haha. he and I made two sideboards together over the last few years, one of which was designed for my apartment (where it currently is! right next to me!) and he also made me a really nice plant stand as a birthday gift! it's great because the lumber we get usually isn't too pricey, and we don't need a ton of stain, so they're relatively economical as far as furniture goes, especially custom furniture.
the downside is we haven't really ventured into the realm of making drawers and such, so while we've got side tables and sideboards and plant stands down pat, I don't think we'll be making me a new dresser anytime soon, lol
