Fictober Day 2: "it's been a long time"
That '70s Show Fanfiction
Eric and Donna flipped through a new cook book his mom had bought. They were seated at the kitchen table of his childhood home. Jack-o'-lantern lights adorned the walls of the breakfast area, which Mom had probably put up yesterday. She was really getting into the spooky season, including the Haunting Treats cookbook. Edible "bloody fingers" and "eyeballs" were among the first disgusting delicacies inside.
"My mom sure started early this year," he said and turned the page. "She usually puts off preparing for Halloween until Halloween Eve."
"Not always. Not when we were kids, but maybe you don't remember since that was almost two decades ago." She was obviously teasing him and nudged his shoulder.
Eric studied the vivid picture of "brain souffle" in the cookbook. The page was earmarked, and his stomach tingled. October second, and Mom was already planning the menu for the Halloween party. "You know, I'm actually excited for it this year."
"The party?"
"Halloween. It's been a long time."
Donna leaned her forehead against his temple, rubbed his back affectionately, and said, "I'm glad. It used to be your favorite holiday when we were kids. And now I'm pregnant with our own kid -- " she straightened up -- "maybe that's why you're looking forward to it again."
His eyes widened, and he pointed at her. "That's it! That's why my parents are so into Halloween this year. Why my dad roped Hyde into helping with a 'secret project' yesterday."
She laughed. "Yeah, Jackie gave me a hint. Apparently, my dad's involved somehow, too. Speaking of, when do you think we should tell him about Robert the Second? He'll be hurt we kept this news from him, but the moment he learns he's having a grandchild, everyone in town'll hear it -- including our friends. It's still early."
"Hell, I can't believe my mom's kept her mouth shut about it. I expected her to make a full-page announcement in the newspaper."
"I can't believe my mom's kept her mouth shut about it."
"To be fair, she does live in California."
"She has a phone, but point taken." Donna closed the cookbook. "And you don't give your mom enough credit. She's a nurse after all. She understands how delicate the first trimester is."
Eric also understood. But surrounding his wife in bubble wrap, while fun, wouldn't actually be helpful.
Donna placed her hand on her abdomen, wedding ring gleaming orange under the jack-o'-lantern lights. "Despite her excitement, your mom always -- well, almost always -- respects our wishes about the important stuff. Besides ... I promised she could announce the pregnancy at the party if she didn't blab to anyone before then."
Eric covered Donna's hand over her belly. "You sneaky, sneaky woman. Marrying you was the best choice I ever made ... hold on. Robert the Second? What if we're having a girl?"
"The name defies gender. We can call our daughter Bobbie."
"Okay, I love your dad, but I want our kid to have a name that's their own."
She stroked his cheek. "I'm kidding. I'm kidding. We'll talk about names seriously when we're closer to the time. But no comic-book names or Star Wars names."
Eric clenched his jaw. Maybe if they waited until Donna was in labor, she'd agree to any name because of the pain, but he couldn't do that to her. "What about Frankenstein? You didn't rule out classic movie monsters."
"Eric!" She slapped his cheek lightly; it didn't sting. "No. And Frankenstein is the scientist who created Frankenstein's monster. Everyone gets that wrong."
"You don't." He pecked her lips, and she pulled him into an embrace. This Halloween would be the second best ever. The first best was yet to come -- to be followed by many other bests. He was a lucky man.

Randomly thinking about how weird it is that Jake and Amy are by far my favorite sitcom couple when I never like the main couple in a sitcom the most and while a lot of that is just personal taste I think there are a couple of things B99 does very well just like structurally with their relationship.
For one they don't start off in love. While they start hinting pretty earlier that there might be something more to the relationships then the friendly rivalry both present S1 its not until the end of the season that Jake acknowledges or becomes aware of any interest in her "romantic styles" and Amy doesn't clearly show interest in him until she breaks up with Teddy. This is critical because it gives them time to build a dynamic and establish chemistry that feels authentic instead of the we open on one or both parties having some interest or crush on the other and almost all the chemistry comes from this supposed interest and/or history which mostly works but often leaves the relationship without a core of genuine compatibility which can make it hard to understand why the relationship is worth it when sitcom drama inevitably occurs. IMO Ross and Rachel and Lenard and Penny both suffer from this quite badly and Eric and Donna get it a little bit. The other thing I think B99 does quite well is Jake and Amy have relatively little drama directly with each other. They struggle with timing as one is dating someone else then the other and they have some concerns about potential fallout at work but direct fights with each other about things they do to each other a few and far between. This is one where I think Donna and Eric struggle, That 70s Show gets some leeway because part of the point is it's a teen relationship and they are figuring out some of this dating stuff and messing it up on the way but still so much of the drama is just Donna and Eric disagree about something and fight about it which is fine and reasonable, things happen in a relationship but so much of the drama and plot especially in the early seasons is just them so they fight episode after episode to a point where it can start to feel like do these two even actually get along? By comparison B99 does a good job of having enough other stuff going on that the relationship drama doesn't take up too much screen time and the couple can just like be convincingly in love instead of fighting all the time.
I don't know I'm sure this stuff isn't unique to B99 and Jake and Amy, as I said at the top a lot of my appreciation for the relationship is just that I'm personally really fond of their dynamic. Nor do I hate the counter examples I used I like the big bang theory, friends and that 70s show and I can appreciate all of the mentioned relationships they all have their moments even if none of them are my personal favorites but I'd never really thought about how the structure of B99 really helps to make Jake and Amy more compelling and I thought that was interesting

Hide and Seek
*****
January 5, 1980
Point Place, Wisconsin
11:30 am
It's felt like an eternity, since he basked in the sunshine.
His arms were wrapped around hers, and she lit the word up like a rainbow.
The tentative rainbow leaves the room, nervously sashaying away, leaving two young men. Two brothers, two nobodies.
At least, that's what Steven Hyde tries to tell himself, but Eric Forman's on his way to being somebody.
And he's…fucking nothing. Without her, his glass is half empty. At best. At worst, he's drowning himself in half empty beers.
He's trying not to think about her. He sets his beer down on the spool. Her calling him pathetic isn't like that shitty game of charades they've been playing for the past few months.
"You're pathetic, St…Hyde." She quickly corrects herself. "You've always said you don't want to be like Bud and Edna, but here you are."
Instead, she's worried about him, and she's giving him a wake up call.
Stinging clear, he still hears those words. Ringing, ringing, ringing. Like a phone that won't shut the fuck up. Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic.
After a particularly awkward silence, Eric nervously clears his throat, making an obvious proclamation. "You still miss her."
Hyde is quick to confirm the truth. Again, and again. "I do."
But there's a problem. An elephant in the room, that she's distracting herself with. "But she's with Fez, now."
"It's just a distraction, Forman."
Eric nods, well aware of the situation at hand. Fez is a sloppy third of sorts, when desperate times call for desperate measures. Her first was the worst, her second was the best, and frankly? He and Jackie don't want to know if Fez has a hairy chest.
It's painfully obvious. She doesn't want to be intimate with him, beyond a polite kiss. And maybe a bit of hesitant butt grabbing. First base, second base. Nothing more.
The somebody and the nobody are watching television, but it's just background noise. Sort of, until a new show comes on. It's The Price Is Right.
Hyde angrily turns the television off. "Damn it, that crap's worse than the Star Wars Christmas special."
Eric opens his mouth to defend his favorite franchise, but he falls flat. "Yeah, that was pretty bad. I heard that The Empire Strikes Back is going to be way, way…"
Hyde set himself up for this, on purpose. Eric can babble sometimes, kinda like Jackie. He can just tune out, and slowly escape. Like usual…
"Hey, I know you're distracting me." Eric unexpectedly stops after a couple of sentences, leaving Hyde flabbergasted. "You're distracting yourself. Instead of hiding, why don't you seek?"
Still a bit floored, Hyde sputters. Like a leaky faucet. "Seek what?"
"A purpose in life," He clarifies, "Y'know, more than hiding in this basement."
Pot, kettle. "You did that for a year."
"Then I had an epiphany, after a year of contemplation. I just don't want to be some comic book guy living with my mom." Eric shutters for a moment, just thinking about it. "I can't dwell just on Star Wars and Donna for the rest of my life. I have to be somebody, and make a difference in this crazy, crazy world."
"You need Donna, though." This time, Hyde's the one stating the obvious. "She needs you."
"I kinda need Star Wars, too, but that's just a hobby," He notably adds, "I can't be, like, a professor of Star Wars or something. Or be a comic book guy, or play with toys for a living. I need to make a difference. A mark on the world, no matter how small. So I found that teaching does that. And I'm teaching you, trying to help you…"
Hyde's tempted to smack that pompous, nervous smile off of Eric's face, but he notably refrains.
Instead, he stands up, heading towards his hovel. His bunker, cot and all, to withstand the apocalypse. "I'm not your fucking student."
"Hyde, I'm sorry for saying that…the wrong way." He stutters, like usual, quickly attempting to make brotherly amends. By patting him on the shoulder, like a supportive brother. And a pretentious asshole. "It's what I do, but I'm learning. You need to learn, too."
"I got my dojo of coolness. I'm fine."
Notably irritated, he enters the bunker. There's no door, but there's a shower curtain he recently installed. To shut out the world.
But he still sees Eric's willowy figure in the shadows, and he barges into this hellhole. "Didn't you bring Jackie into that dojo of coolness? And I remember, once, when you were cuddling with Jackie in here. You never cuddled with anyone else. I remember you thought me and Donna were lame, but yet, there you were. And now, you're alone…"
"You're alone, too."
"I've got a path." Face to face, man to man, they verbally spar. "How about you?"
Hyde collapses onto his cot, with a defeated groan. "Guess I've gotta find a path, too."

Hello! Would you write a (season five Michael Kelso scenario where he and reader broke up on good terms for some reason and they are still friends (but they still love each other) So say the group goes to some event with each other (like a dinner or something for a school event) and there’s live music and like an hour or so after being there Kelso Excuses himself to go the the “restroom” and a few minutes later he’s on stage embarrassing himself singing the readers favorite song to win them back and it’s just super awkward and stuff but he thinks it’s the best way because he’s Kelso 💀 thank you!!
Take a Chance on Me (Michael Kelso X Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: Senior year had been full of ups and downs for the gang. After having to convince some of your friends, you all go to the last dance of the year. Your ex-boyfriend Michael Kelso has a secret plan to get you back.
***
It was just another day in Eric Forman’s basement. Everyone sat in their unassigned assigned spots watching cartoons, wondering what to do for the weekend.
“We could go to the Hub,” Eric suggested, absentmindedly playing with Donna’s hair.
“Nah, we go there too much,” Hyde said. He tapped a random beat with his foot, trying to think. “We could go to the drive-in.”
“We have no money.” Fez countered. It was true; besides Jackie, the group was pretty broke.
“And all the movies there suck anyway,” Donna added.
“We could go to Spring Fling.” Kelso shrugged like he didn’t care about his own idea.
“Ew, I don’t wanna go to a stupid dance,” Hyde said with a sneer. You lit up, thinking about Kelso’s suggestion.
“You know, I bet it wouldn’t be that bad. It might be fun.” The others didn’t look too convinced. “Come on, guys. Spring Fling is the last event of the school year; we should go!” Jackie gasped, suddenly interested in the conversation. She turned in Hyde’s lap to face him, arms hooking around his neck.
“Oh, please, Steven, let’s go!”
“No, I don’t wanna.”
“Please.”
“Jackie, I don’t wanna go to a stupid dance.” Jackie pouted, staring down at him. After a moment, he broke, letting out a long sigh. “Fine.” She clapped with glee.
“See, guys, if Hyde’s gonna go, then it can’t be that bad.” You said. After a minute of thought, everyone agreed. Jackie jumped from Hyde’s lap, grabbing your and Donna’s wrists.
“Come on! You guys gotta help me pick out what to wear!”
***
After looking through her closet, Jackie decided she didn’t like any of her clothes enough to wear to Spring Fling. So the three of you loaded into your car and went to the mall.
“Oh my gosh, Y/n, you should get this. It’s totally your color.” Jackie said, holding a dress up to your view.
“Jackie, we’re here because you wanted to shop.”
“I know, but it’s so cute.” She held the dress against your body, and even though you didn’t necessarily need it, you did agree. “Michael would absolutely die.” You immediately pushed the dress away.
“No, he wouldn’t.”
“Yes, he would,” Donna interjected. “The entire ride to and from California, all he did was talk about you.” Now that surprised you.
Before he and Donna ran away to California in the summer, you and Michael Kelso had been dating for almost two years. But you had accidentally scared him off from talks of the future, your future together in particular. It broke your heart when he left without even a note. But miraculously, when he and Donna were brought back by Eric, you two remained good friends.
So the fact that the man who was supposed to love you and then abandoned you apparently only thought about you when he was gone was utterly baffling.
“Well, either way, I don’t care.” You responded. But you did care. And Donna and Jackie knew it too. Jackie held the dress to you again.
“At least try it on, Y/n. You’d look hot.”
“Fine.” You yanked the hanger out of her hand and stalked off to the fitting rooms. “But I’m not doing it for Kelso!”
***
You didn’t try the dress on for him, but Kelso was definitely part of the reason why you bought it. You and the girls got ready at your house while you waited for the guys to come pick you up. Part of you wanted to just go in your own car and meet them at the dance, but everyone insisted they go together.
A few honks alerted you and the girls that the boys were in the driveway waiting. You all rushed down the stairs and walked out to see Kelso’s van. He rolled down the window, sticking his head out.
“Y/n, you can come sit up front.” Jackie and Donna smirked, pushing you toward the front while they went to sit in the back. Kelso reached over to open the door for you, and you climbed in. Music played as he drove, everyone talking in the back. “You look pretty.” You were taken off guard by how shy he sounded. He glanced at you, borderline staring whenever you were at a stoplight.
“Thanks.” You looked at him, clearing your throat. “You look pretty too.” You wanted to slap yourself. You tried to compliment him back but didn’t know what to say. Before you could correct yourself, he grinned. He grinned the way he did when you complimented him when you were dating, equally shy and prideful from your attention.
“Thanks.”
The gym was filled by the time you got to the school. You were honestly surprised that this many people had come to a school event that wasn’t prom. But it seemed like everyone was having fun, especially with the live music. It seemed to be a group of underclassmen that didn’t have anything better to do.
“When can we leave?” Hyde immediately asked. Jackie slapped his arm, telling him to behave.
“We can’t leave yet hide.” Fez rolled his eyes as if Hyde had forgotten an important part of the night that would be happening at this dance. “We have to stay for when Kelso-”
“Hey, Fez, there’s a snack table. Go nuts.” Kelso interrupted, pushing his friend away. The rest of the group dispersed, leaving you and Kelso to dance, which was really just shifting your weight from foot to foot in time to the music.
“What was Fez talking about?” You asked. Kelso laughed nervously, waving his hand.
“Oh, nothing. We gave him some chocolate before we left, and you know how he gets.” Sensing he didn’t want to talk about it anymore, you nodded and pointed behind him.
“I think I’m gonna get some punch.”
“I’ll go with you.”
Like a shadow, Kelso stayed close to you for the rest of the night. But not in a weird way. In fact, it comforted you that he was near you like he used to be. He only left you to go to the bathroom, so now you waited for him in the crowd of friends and strangers. You were talking to Donna about something when she nudged your shoulder and pointed behind you towards the makeshift stage. You turned around confused but soon became horrified.
Michael Kelso was standing on stage, staring at you while he adjusted the height on the microphone stand, and the band behind him started playing a familiar tune.
“I’d like to dedicate this song to Y/n L/n.” He announced quickly before he ran out of intro music. He then went on to sing Take a Chance on Me from ABBA, smiling dumbly at you the entire time. For some verses, he would do little dances or act out the lyrics. He wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t necessarily good either. Everyone laughed, including the gang, but he didn’t care.
While Michael sang, you were hit with a flood of memories. This song played on the jukebox during your first date at the Hub. He was so nervous, which made you giggly because he had never acted so scared around you. That night, he walked you home and kissed you at the door; the rest was history.
It was a history that you wanted to keep buried. He had left you because he was scared about having a future with you, throwing away the good years between you when he ran to California.
But along with that history was your love for Michael Kelso. And everything was starting to come up to the surface.
Suddenly, he was standing in front of you. The song was over, and the band was now playing something else, distracting everyone around you, so you could only focus on each other.
“I want you back.” The statement hit you like a ton of bricks as if he hadn’t just dedicated a serenation to you of what you considered to be your song. “Please, Y/n. I want another chance.”
“You left me.” You don’t know why you said that. You wanted to say, ‘Yes, Michael Kelso, I’ll give you another chance because I never stopped loving you.’ But you guessed that your brain overrode your heart because it was supposed to know better.
“I know.” He sounded so sad and full of regret. “I freaked out.”
“You ran over 2,000 miles away.”
“I know.” Kelso started to sound defeated, which broke your heart. “I, I was scared. I didn’t think I was ready for anything after graduation. So when you started talking about life after high school, I realized I had no idea what to do.”
“Micah, please tell me there’s a ‘but.’” Calling him by the nickname only you would call him felt so natural, and he almost melted at the name like he used to. But he had to focus.
“But, when I was in California, I would try thinking about what I wanted to do if and when I came back to Point Place. And every time I had an idea, you were there. Every single time.”
You were speechless. In all the years you had known Michael, he was never this articulate or romantically outspoken with his feelings. Based on your expression, he knew you didn’t know what to say but would allow him to keep talking. So he did.
“I’m not going anywhere this time. I swear. I’ll get on my knees and beg you if I have to, Y/n. Please, all I need is one more chance.” He started to get nervous because you were still silent. You just stared at him. “Say something.”
“Okay.” It was quiet, and he shouldn’t have been able to catch it because of how loud and crowded the gym was, but he did. He grinned.
“Okay?” You nodded in confirmation.
“Okay.” You stood on your toes and threw yourself on him, arms around his neck and head buried in his shoulder. On instinct, Kelso wrapped his arms around your waist, slightly lifting you off the ground. You pulled your head up to look at him, noses bumping. “But just one chance.”
“That’s all I need, Baby.” He leaned forward and kissed you while you still dangled in the air. Your friends were probably freaking out at the sight, and other Spring Fling participants probably wished you would move because you were borderline making out on the dance floor. But none of that mattered. In your head, it was just you, Michael Kelso, and a new chance.

I've had so much fun talking to you!! Here are some That 70s Show asks if you feel like answering: 1. Five favorite characters - in order! 2. Three favorite romantic ships 3. Three or four favorite family relationships/friendships 4. Five unpopular opinions you have about the series. The more unpopular, the better!
Ofc, I always feel like procrastinating on Tumblr and avoiding my real life responsibilities so here it is:
Top 5 characters:
1. Red - I am ranking him first only because I feel like he is the character that the writers ruined the least as the time went on
2. Jackie- she had the best development up until season 8
3. Hyde - same as Jackie, he was a jerk at times but had a more or less consistent character development until they flushed it down the toilet in season 8
4. Eric - definitely the most relatable character, too bad they didn't give him more ambition
5. Donna - she was my favorite when I first started watching but what the writers did with her pissed me off so much (having her not go to college and want to move into a van???)
Three romantic ships:
1. Obviously Zenmasters (Jackie and Hyde)
2. Donneric - they were my first ship in this show and I loved them until they started fighting over stupid stuff in every episode
3. Red and Kitty - they are what zenmasters would have been in another universe where they ended up married
Family relationships: I haven't really thought about it until now but I love Eric and Red's dynamic, then Eric and Laurie have a very realistic sibling bickering/ love-hate relationship, and in fact all three Forman siblings if we count Hyde have that together, that's why I enjoyed the episodes in season 2 where they were all living under one roof. And last but not least, while Midge was not great and in the end left Donna, I still liked the moments in which she offered motherly wisdom to her. It seems like the kind of relationship I would love to have with my mother where you are not scared to tell her anything. So to sum up:
1. Red and Eric
2. Eric, Laurie and Hyde
3. Midge and Donna
I will make a separate one for friendships:
1. Jackie and Donna
2. Jackie and Eric
3. All of the guys together
Hmm I am not sure if I have any about this particular show, so I will just say 5 random opinions:
1. Bob was annoying and kind of unnecessary
2. They should have kept Kelso as he was in season 1- a bit clueless about life but secretly very good at math and technology
3. Laurie is a terrible person and that's what makes her fun. There's no need to redeem or humanize her as some fans try to do.
4. People complain that Donna was ruined in the later seasons by giving up on her ambitions but no one talks about how Eric was too. They both should have gone to college. Hyde could have easily taken care of Red and the Forman house after the heart attack.
5. People that complain about the jokes on this show being offensive and having aged badly need to grow a pair.

Hello! I saw a comment you made where you said one can be a critic of Hyde’s character when deserved but also a big fan at the same time. I would love to read that meta! Something that tends to frustrate me about Hyde discourse is that ppl write off his worst moments as being ‘OOC’. But truthfully he could be petty, vindictive, wasn’t always a great friend, and so on. Like all of the characters ofc.
I do think his worst moments after season 1 are OOC, a character manipulation to serve plot and punchline. But despite the fact I don't believe an in-character Hyde would make certain choices, I've analyzed them nevertheless as choices he's made.
I'll link metas I've already written about Hyde's less than stellar behavior after this one. 😂
First, I'm writing this based on Hyde's new core characterization developed in "Prom Night" (1x19). Once his main role as Eric's antagonistic non-competition competition for Donna's romantic feelings, he needed to be overhauled and was transformed into a nearly different character, outside of facts about his upbringing and more superficial traits.
Second, I'll be discussing negative aspects of his character. I've written plenty about both those and his positive aspects, but I haven't often focused exclusively on the negative.
Hyde is depicted in the show as having internalized his mother's aggressiveness but externalizes it in a much milder form -- until season 5 when the writers ramp up that trait to serve the story arc they came up with and the season 5 cliffhanger.
Before season 5, however, Hyde derives pleasure from screwing over Eric with Red but not in any way that's dangerous to Eric's physical or emotional well-being. More impish, mischievous, and obnoxious.
Hyde can be arrogant. He closes himself to other points of view unless someone touches an emotional truth or an aspect of himself he's unsure about.
Hyde can be lazy. He doesn't enjoy working harder than he believes is necessary. This fact applies to emotional work as well as schoolwork and work to earn money.
Hyde has trouble owning his mistakes (but isn't incapable of it).
Hyde has addictive tendencies. Before season 7, Bud is canonically Hyde's biological father. Bud and Edna are both alcoholics. Hyde clearly inherited the alcoholism gene and shouldn't touch alcohol at all. He narcotizes himself against emotional pain with beer and pot.
Hyde can be thoughtless about and dismissive of other people's feelings, a trait his parents passed on through their thoughtless treatment of him. He's also uncomfortable being present to his own feelings and has trouble processing them. This creates a double whammy, and his thoughtlessness and discomfort is often expressed through sarcasm and humor.
At least once, Hyde uses Fez's naivete and lack of U.S. teen cultural knowledge to manipulate him when Hyde believes it will benefit himself. (Fortunately, it leads to Hyde's comeuppance and actually benefits Fez.)
Hyde has low self-esteem and big trust issues. These are simply facts, not judgments. But they explain most of his bad behavior. He's a survivor of childhood abuse and neglect, the child of two alcoholics, and is ultimately abandoned both parents before he's eighteen.
With the support of Red, Kitty, Eric, Donna, Leo, and (eventually) Jackie, he's able to overcome much of the hurtful, destructive ways his emotional wounds manifest in his behavior. While people grow and change in layers, they generally don't do a personality 180 after major growth. When Hyde acts against his nature and character development -- without a foundation for it being substantively built over many episodes, as it is for Donna in season 4 -- it is what's called in writing character drift or, as many of us say, OOC.
Now, links to other metas. ☺️
Links to many, many metas I've written about Hyde.

Fic authors, self-rec! When you get this ask, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written; then pass this ask on to at least five other writers. Let's spread the self-love! 🩷
Thank you for the ask @those70scomics! It's an honor to get asked this by one of my favorite That '70s Show fanfic authors!
(Since this is my That '70s Show blog, I'll specifically share my 5 favorite T7S fics that I've written.)
1.) Let's Grow Up Together (FF.net/AO3)
Summary: When one day Jackie receives a certain letter in the mail, she finds her life quickly beginning to change. Suddenly she is a grown-up navigating life on her own, drifting away from the sleepy little town of Point Place...and from her friends who can't seem to find the courage to discover life outside the Forman basement. Will her friends catch up, or will Jackie be all on her own? (Rated: T)
Comments: This is my season 7 'fix-it fic' and is my favorite T7S fic that I've ever written. Spoiler alert - everyone gets a happy and fulfilling ending, rich in growth and possibility (you know, unlike s8)!
2.) It Takes Time to Fall in Love (FF.net/AO3)
Summary: Jackie can't wait to meet her soulmate, but a dire mistake on her part leads her to mistakenly identify him as Michael, while Hyde watches his soulmate clock hit zero and immediately knows that it's Jackie. Years pass, Jackie with Michael, Hyde saying nothing as he knowingly watches from the side. Will this dynamic be permanent or will destiny bring the true soulmates together? (Rated: T)
Comments: This is the fic that I wrote for the 2017 Zenmasters Anthology project! That was the very first year of ZMA, and I was so honored to be a part of it. This was such a fun fic to write, and I really enjoyed weaving the soulmate clock concept into the timeline of the show. Plus, as part of ZMA, (I believe now former) tumblr user @/hydejackies made some gorgeous artwork for my story: Part 1 and Part 2.
3.) Between the Scenes (FF.net/AO3)
Summary: Little missing moments/one-shots from the show that serve to further develop the characters and/or plot. These scenes take place between the scenes of certain episodes. (Rated: T)
Comments: This is an open-ended project that I add stand-alone one-shots to whenever I watch an episode of T7S and feel like there was a missing moment that we didn't get to see. Stories that fit within the show (and into canon, to a degree) are my favorite to write, especially if I get to add context to a concept or plot point from the show that maybe wasn't fully realized. I love finding a seed of something from the show and growing a garden with it, which is what I try to do here.
4.) The Speech (FF.net/AO3)
Summary: When Jackie's friends all blow off her graduation party, she decides that maybe they're not her real friends after all. So when a week passes with no sign of Jackie, they all begin to wonder if they've lost her for good this time. Can amends be made? (One-shot.) (Rated: T)
Comments: I hate the way the episode "Gimme Shelter" (7.20) ends with Jackie just shrugging off the way her friends treated her, and this fic is my way of making up for it. Plus, @those70scomics adapted this one-shot into a comic back in 2015 which is the coolest thing ever!
5.) The Renewal (FF.net/AO3)
Summary: Kelso and Donna are away in California. Eric spends his days sleeping in a stupor of self-loathing and depression. Fez meets a new foe, named Fenton. This leaves Steven Hyde and Jackie Burkhart together all summer in the Forman basement. One of many things Jackie and Hyde fans have never gotten is a story for what led up to that fateful kiss on that seemingly normal day. Well... (Rated: T)
Comments: I debated whether I wanted to include this fic here, because it sometimes makes me cringe when I read what I wrote 10+ years ago as a teenager. Plus, it was my first attempt at fanfic writing and there is sooo much I would change about it if I were to write it now. (I've toyed with the idea of re-writing it, but I just don't have the time these days.) But all that being said...it was the first piece of fanfiction I ever wrote, so in that respect, I'm proud of it. I discovered my passion for fanfic writing with this fic and discovered the wonderful community of T7S fanfic writers, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.
I believe all the fanfic writers that I know here on tumblr have already answered this ask. However, if you haven't, consider yourself now tagged! :)

Donna and Nikki pls <3
Donna:
First Impression: I loved her from the very start. She was cute and pretty and when she said “I see that everyday” and walked away, I knew she was going to be my favorite
Impression now: I still love her, she’s still my favorite
Favorite moment: there are several, but the first one that comes to mind is the one mentioned above. Also anytime she’s drunk or high- girl can’t hold her liquor or her weed!
Idea for a story: a story based off seven, by Taylor Swift. She and Jackie are besties who help each other through the hard times
Unpopular opinion: Donna wouldn’t call Kitty Mrs. F or Mom. It’s out of character for her. She also wouldn’t put up with the slut shaming
Favorite relationship: Formciotti of course 😍
Favorite headcanon: while she hates frills and things on a daily basis, she likes wearing dresses and “pretty things” on her dates with Eric
Nikki:
First impression: I was really interested in the character. Based off the commercial, I was hoping she’d be a somewhat mini Donna. She is and she isn’t
Impression now: she’s my favorite of the new gang.
Favorite moment: when she and Gwen accidentally become friends, when she’s reading the paper at the breakfast table and impresses Red, and when she’s drinking the Slurpee in Nate’s van looking between him and Jay. She’s clearly thinking what idiots.
Idea for a story: She and Nate break up, not over the kiss with Leia, but because he clearly doesn’t respect or love her. She can do so much better, but she doesn’t yet. She finished school, gets the highest score on the SATS, and can get into literally any college she wants
Unpopular opinion: I’m not sure if this is unpopular or not, but I don’t think she should date anyone within the gang. It worked originally, but now it’s a copy-and-paste. And a bad one at that
Favorite relationship: her friendship Gwen. Also love how she looks out for Leia
Favorite headcanon: she dumps Nate

Hiya, Poorni ❤️! This ask game for Eric, Laurie, and Red?
Tumblr media
Eric Forman
First impression: He’s sweet. Why is he shat on?
Impression now: #1 Blorbo, protect him at all costs
Favorite moment: When he was like “I made you bald? You made me skinny!” I love their dynamic.
Idea for a story: Eric coming to terms with being bisexual and demiromantic.
Unpopular opinion: Him and Donna get too much hate for their reaction of JH. I mean, it was fucked up don’t get me wrong, but they got over it episodes later and the way it’s talked about as if they were *never* supportive and that that automatically defines them as bad friends is not great imo. They made a mistake and learned from it.
Favorite relationship: Formciotti is #1 but in terms of Eric ships, Beric.
Favorite headcanon: Eric is bisexual
Donna Pinciotti
First impression: Angel
Impression now: My flawed bby girl
Favorite moment: How happy she was when starting the radio job. I just hate the whole “Hot Donna” stint the writers pulled.
Idea for a story: Donna having sisters!
Unpopular opinion: Listed one of them on the Eric one. But also I don’t think Donna is a bad friend to Jackie. She made her fair share of mistakes but for the most part, Donna is a good friend. If anyone was the bad friend in that relationship, I’d say Jackie. But both of them made mistakes.
Favorite relationship: Formciotti
Favorite headcanon: She’s a demiromantic pansexual
Laurie Forman
First impression: Annoying. I hate her.
Impression now: The loml who’s done no wrong (jkjk). But seriously, I think she’s a great character with loads of potential.
Favorite moment: “I cannot believe that you’re being such a—“ “Bitch? Duh!”
Idea for a story: Just seeing Laurie’s college life.
Unpopular opinion: I don’t think she’s a horrible person. I think she’s done fucked up things and is morally grey, but has potential to grow and be better
Favorite relationship: Fez (if he 18 tho)
Favorite headcanon: She has a daughter :)

Fictober Day 30: "I won't let you down"
That '70s Show Fanfiction
Kitty wiped sweat from her brow after her and Red's second check of their property. The decorations, mechanized and otherwise, were in place and functioning. Their Halloween party tomorrow would be a festival of fright, as Fez called it. Full of unexpected sights and sounds and, for many people, news.
In the kitchen at dinner, Red stopped eating the Spaghetti Bolognese she'd cooked for them.
"No good?" she said. Past him, through the patio's glass door, she caught a glimpse of their car. Laurie had turned it into a monster, but Kitty feared the years might have made herself into one.
"You've been on edge all day. You're stabbing at your food like it killed your favorite aunt."
Kitty tried to laugh, but she only sighed. "Red, this party we're having tomorrow was supposed to be about announcing Donna's pregnancy. I dived into it because I'm just so excited to become a grandmother, but plans made only thirty days ago changed so much. I'm ... I'm afraid I've become a fool."
Red reached toward her and rubbed her arm. "I had Steven help me build a skeleton out of old car parts. It's lording over our backyard. If you're a fool, then so am I."
She gazed at him warmly. "You're the sweetest man I've ever known. I'm a she-beast from -- from wherever she-beasts come from."
He snorted and resumed eating. "You've been around Eric too much lately."
"Donna."
"Donna?"
"She shouldn't have had to bribe me to keep my mouth shut, to make her pregnancy about my excitement." She twirled spaghetti onto her fork. "What kind of grandmother am I going to be, Red? What kind of mother am I?"
Red blotted his mouth with a napkin then scooted his chair closer to hers. He slid his arm around her shoulders and said, "The kind who realizes her mistakes. You gave up announcing Donna's pregnancy at all, remember? No one's perfect, and expecting perfection from yourself is pointless." He gave her shoulders a squeeze. "We raised three happy, healthy kids. We must've done something right."
She leaned her head against his temple. "Maybe I got so caught up with this Halloween party to avoid thinking about my mistakes as a mother. But it forced me to confront them. I want to do better, Red."
"I'm gonna kick the ass of whoever made you doubt how good a mother you are." He sounded angry, and she cupped his knee under the table. "All parents make mistakes. Our kids're gonna learn that soon, and mark my words, Kitty: each of them will apologize to us in time."
She finally laughed, and Red laughed with her.
"You promise me," she said, looking at him, "promise that you'll live long enough for Eric and Laurie's children to become teenagers. Because I want to bask in that satisfaction with you."
"I won't let you down," he said and kissed her on the lips. "And if the worst were to happen, I'd crawl out of my grave to enjoy that moment. God owes me a couple of favors."
She caressed his cheek and nodded. She believed him.

That '90s Show Episodes (part1)
Things I know (tapings, photos inside scoops, etc) and predictions I'm making.
1.) That '90s Pilot- It takes place on the 4th of July, Eric and Donna appear. It's a wonderfully fun episode that really does feel like a family reunion. (I've seen a edited version of it, probably just missing the last 5 minutes with Jackie and Kelso and maybe a few moments in between scenes)
Tumblr media
2) Free Leia- I think this is a play on the movie title 'Free Willy' and maybe the new 90s gang is trying to help Leia either maybe fit in in Point Place or spend time outside of Red and Kitty's home. This is also the episode that we will probably see the new gang in Red and Kitty's room, looking through their closet-my guess is they're looking through Red's flannels lol
Tumblr media
3.)Lip Smackers- In this episode we meet Sherri, Gwen and Nates Mom and we also see Fez again and find out that the two are dating. In this episode passed off the title and this photo from the episode, I say Leia and Jay will have their first kiss on the new Forman's new car.
Tumblr media
4.) Rave- MY Episode!! Okay, it's not mine but it hold a very special place in my heart. It's the first time I ever saw a TV show being filmed and I had the best time. And had some wonderful memories with Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith. It's kind a filler episode but, honestly filler episodes are my favorite. I love this episode.
Tumblr media
5.) Step by Step- Leia deals with the aftermath of Rave. We see the character played by Olivia Sanabia-possibly one of Jay's exes, I really don't know. This is also probably the episode that we see Red and Kitty take on the home computer and I am EXCITED!!!

Part 2 (episodes 6-10 coming soon!)

Eric Forman!
First impression: He's an adorable little nerd. :)
Impression now: He's an adorable little nerd, but he can be an ass sometimes. He's still my favorite, though.
Favorite moment: When he told Red to "wear a hat," after Red was iffy about supporting Kitty through her supposed pregnancy.
Idea for a story: An AU where Eric is ten years older, and Red and Eric's relationship is much more tense. They have a bit of a fallout, since Eric doesn't support 'Nam.
Unpopular opinion: He really needs to shut the fuck up about Star Wars, sometimes. He slowly realized that, too, in season 7.
Thus, that character arc of him finding himself beyond his geeky hobbies and Donna is so, so important for him. Like he can love his geeky hobbies, but he needs something that stimulates his desire to help others. And teaching does just that.
Favorite relationship: Eric and Donna.
Favorite headcanon(s):
Big one: He becomes a history teacher.
Little ones:
*He's a huge fan of Genesis.
*He's a huge fan of To Kill a Mockingbird. He thinks Atticus Finch is so badass.

Hi! Hru? Just curious but do you take any drabble requests? Oh and what are your t7s and t9s (if you watched) ships?
Hiya there, I was (still) busy with my work and friends but I'm alright! Thank you for reaching out to me. I usually do not drabble or general requests since I’m uncertain about my writing skill. Someday, I would post the fanfic that I have been writing. (Psst- It's about That 70 Shows…)
To answer your question,
That's 70 Show's favorite ship:
Canon ship:
Jackie/Hyde
Kitty/Red
Brooke/Michael
Donna/Eric
Fez/Candy (I mean I’m ok with him dating girls or guys but I’m not engrossed in his dating life.)
Non-canon ship
Jackie/Eric
Jackie/Donna
Caroline/Eric (because reading fanfiction about them is damn good, how I can resist it-)
That's 90 Show’s favorite ship:
Canon ships:
Kitty/Red
Donna/Eric
Non-canon ships (hope they could make it happen):
Leia/Gwen
Gwen/Nikki (They give me a bizarre similar to Jackie/Hyde dynamic. Can't wait for the turn of season two out.)
I'm still waiting for more seasons and episodes of That's 90 shows. So I can conclude my favorite individual ship.
Fun facts: I loathe Jackie and Hyde together from the beginning even their first prom together. I do think they are so creepy and unnatural relationship because Hyde and Jackie are completely opposite. Burnout and princess. Stoner and cheerleader. ‘I don't care and don't trust the government’ guy and ‘Give me attention or I will scream’ girl. And Jackie and Kelso are my used to my favorites. Ew. Until they captured my heart moment when Hyde and Jackie slept together without sexual interaction after Jackie’s home started to downhill. I start to realize that Jackie and Hyde do have in lot common that I would expect it.
Thank you for your message! Hope this answers your question! 💕
