Oh I am having an EVENING. I just got back to school, spent the last 2 days amazingly productive and prepping for finals, and an hour ago I tested positive for COVID.

So then I had to email my students over the Learning Management App (which doesn't keep the formatting of the email site) that class is going be asynchronous tomorrow. At the end of the email, I tried to copy and paste my usual signature. I pasted and hit send too quickly for me to realize it did not copy.

Do you think Dream ever tells Hob something, or shows Hob something, or even gives him something, and sometimes, for a second, thinks, "Roderick Burgess would be so pissed to see this"

If the immortality wasn't enough to send the bastard into a screaming fit, then it would certainly be bow favored Hob is to a being such as Dream of the Endless, much less fucking Death of the Endless just by being... normal? And cocky about it at the right time and right place and what does he do?

600 years of mundane ambitions, nothing vaguely grabbing at any real power, no study of the occult or even interactions or demands for more

Burgess sacrifice so much time, energy wasted at bargaining with a void until his death, Hob just got everything he wished for by just being lucky enough to end up as two universal forces /joke/

While Burgess rots in hell, Dream of the Endless shows Hob the Dreaming's Library and, yes, Dream revels in how much the old man would have frothed at the mouth to get his stained hands on such books, such knowledge and here was Hob, a peasant now every day professor, who mostly asked for a bit of Dream's time, not even for his benefit, mostly Dream is the one being given wines and teas and whatever foods Hob tries to sway Dream into trying.

Maybe sometimes hell shows Burgess the scenes of Hob tucking Dream of the Endless, a being that survived a century of airless imprisonment like he was the most fragile creature in the world before a movie night

Burgess had to use an entire ritual, a whole cult and countless workers to force the Endless presence, all Hob has to do it smile and shly look away while tugging at an ear to get a visit, a promise, a /deal/

Hob gets to have all the time imaginable and gets to now spend it lovingly close to the most beautiful creature ever conceive while Burgess rots for being the wrong kind of idiot

A scene of Hob being given a dreamstone, something Burgess would have literally killed for, just to let Hob spend even more lucid time in the Dreaming, to protect him from the ever increasing enemies of both the man and the Endless

I thought a lot about Hob meeting Death for the first time and of course they’re hitting it off straight away … but what if instead of Dream it’s Hob who accompanies Death while she’s working? Just because he’s a curious brother-in-law and none of the Endless can say no to his pleading cow eyes.

He witnesses how calm and peaceful it can be to leave the living world behind with someone as gentle as Dreams sister to guide someone’s soul.

It scares Dream; what if Hob decides he wants to end his life after all?

But in reality it heals a part of Hob that he never was able to piece back together before.

Eleanor. Robyn. The baby that never got the chance to take its first breath. His memories are still painful, still make him tear up.

But seeing Death do her job makes him feel … grateful. Knowing that she was with them at the end of their days, smiling at them, taking their hands, holding them in her arms.

It also makes him appreciate life even more and he promises to enjoy every single day as much as humanly possible.

Because I enjoy making myself sad apparently I've decided to headcanon that Dream's whole "making it rain when he's sad" thing started out as a self-soothing gesture.

Like when he was young (or, y'know, young for an Endless) he would get upset and unconsciously make it rain because he loves the rain. He would listen to it patter against the palace walls, or go outside and enjoy the cold, clean air and the water against his face, maybe splash in a puddle or two if no one was looking, and it would help him clear his head and center him and then he felt better.

But then, he overheard and/or maybe someone said to his face something like "oh thank GOD you're feeling better so the rain's finally gone, it was so dreary/depressing/inconvenient/annoying/etc" and Dream was like. Oh. I did something Wrong. I'm being a bad ruler. It doesn't matter if it makes me feel better it's more important to take care of my subjects and make sure they're happy.

So Dream tries his very very best to metaphorically sit on his hands when he's feeling bad but it's hard, it's not something he's fully in control of, and it actually gets worse because now instead of enjoying the rain and feeling better fairly quickly, he feels guilty and frustrated and ashamed which makes him feel even worse which makes it rain more and it turns into a vicious cycle.

I'm not sure if he tells Hob all this or if Hob just puts the pieces together himself, but I think he starts being very open to Dream about how much he loves the rain too (and he's not lying or anything, he really does love the rain, he's just a little louder about it when Dream is around). I think he also gives an impromptu lecture about the value of stimming and how people should respect it (under the guise of something with a student or something idk) and maybe Lucienne and Matthew get recruited to help too, and I haven't figured out how it ends but it ends with Dream learning to enjoy the rain again and wait shit oh goddammit now I have another wip fuck me

Through cataloguing the estate Robert begins to know Morpheus and to piece together the last months of his life, particularly the late man’s obsession with something called the “the ancient order of mysteries”.

What does this order have to do with Lord Endelas , late son Orpheus Endelas and Lord Endelas own disappearance?

More importantly why can’t Robert stop having dreams about this man he’s never met before?”

He's 5'10. That's not short. I mean maybe for a guy...but he's taller than me by 2 inches.

I don't mind it, I just sort of wondered at that.

They fight each other in the middle of a Wendy's parking lot. Kit as almost drowned Tails three times. Tails has electrocuted Kit at last ten. It's an uneven fight with Tails' gadgets. Despite this, the only one sustaining any serious injuries is Tails.

Whisper and Tangle manage to pull them apart. Kit goes home and promptly cooks Surge the best meal she's had all week.

Tails goes home to Sonic to lick his wounds. Only one of them left the confrontation happy. And Sonic is here to praise Tails all night for his successes. Surge merely does her best with comforting the still raging fennec.

They run into one another the next day. Kit glares. Tails smiles. They get ice cream in the park.

Are they healthy? No. Of course not. But by Gaia, Tails is happy. For once, he gets to have a proper rival. And isn't all that really matters at the end of the day?
