One thing I'm starting to realise is how Barou might be one the top players in my "misunderstood characters" diary. He's always so stuck up on being a "King", it's just very annoying to me. Like yeah, yeah. Self proclaimed bitch 🙄 why is he so sure about that, huh? 🤨 What's so special about that him that he's the "KING" even in front of other ABSOLUTELY TALENTED players like Isagi, Kaiser, Rin, Nagi. And it's not like he's always winning, so what's all that bark no bite for?

That was until I rewatched ep 18-19 and realised how his brain works. I think I'm starting to understand how it is.

I always used to think he keep saying that because he really believes he is some sort of king and it's fine to assert that ideal on someone else and force them to follow it. I mean, that's what it looks like at first sight you know? He's always forcing others to pass to him in S1 for what bruh? If you deserve it, win the pass like Isagi does. But then that whole 3 vs 3 match with Nagi and Isagi that he played and how he dealt with being "dethroned" made me realise that it isn't some stuck up belief of his but rather THE TALENT, THE SHINE TO BE THE BRIGHTEST ON THE FIELD, THE SKILL TO BE NOT BE PUSHED TO SIDE ROLE is what he actually values.

To him, he isn't the "king" or the only one deserving to be a king. To him, King is a throne - a position - that only the most talented on the field can take.

He so easily accepted and went "I was never the king" in ep 18, it just shook me a little, because usually he's usually so stubborn about it?!?!? And Isagi made him pass once and he just....had a breakdown? And (mentally) gave up on his throne? Huh? This reaction didn't fit my perception of him?!

And that's when I realised, HIS SKILL ISN'T DRIVEN FROM HIS CONFIDENCE, HIS CONFIDENCE IS DRIVEN FROM HIS SKILLS. He values this throne of "king" and that's why he works hard to keep up with the tag he proclaims - to be the best on the field ; ALWAYS.

This "Viola!" Moment that i had was also justified when called Isagi by his name rather than calling him a "donkey" after the match. That's because he respected his skills back from the moment that he made him pass. He isn't stubborn, he is just confident. And also ... desperate? In ways? But definitely not stuck up or stubborn. No. Because he immediately recognises and bows down to talent when he sees it.

Damn. This realisation really made my respect for Barou go 📈📈📈📈
