I must speak about my ocs
I’m going with the easiest one first, my courier. They’d go for a horse, and with the way I write courier into things, I also write that horses exist in the fallout games (excluding 1 because that game features a mule which invites the implication of horses).
For my lone wanderer, Helena Smith, I’d have to say foot. There’s just something about how much time it takes to walk on foot, and not much time is offered to get lost in your agonizing thoughts. Though if I had to pick one, I’d give her a dinky little bike with a basket and streamers.
For my sole survivor (I have two, one is the canonical spouse, and the second is the canonical spouse’s sister in law), Dean Davis (the canonical spouse) I’d say car. Not out of convenience, I see him finding a way to fixing up a Chrysalis Sedan, a car he never would’ve been able to afford before the war. This being said, he’d probably become comically obsessed with the car and never even drive her anywhere.
For my other sole survivor (the sister in law), Emma Macleod, I see her finding someway of making and/or fixing a sailboat, probably finding a way to incorporate advanced science and technology into the small boat.
For my vault dweller, Natalya Markova, I’d definitely say a motorcycle. For a sort of fast and aggressive character that I’ve written Natalya to be, the motorcycle would be perfect (plus the road leathers she’s usually wearing).
And for pretty much most chosen one characters, the highwayman is used (including for mine).
ok ok with all the talks of vehicles and horses yesterday, i got to thinking.... what mode of transportation would your fallout ocs use? trains? horses? cars? motorcycles, bikes, chariots, carriages??

More synaesthesia song art: Fallout classic edition!
If there are any songs- Fallout-linked or not- that you’d like to see either scribbled in this style or turned into an association board, lemme know!
-
City of the Dead (Necropolis- also heard in Nipton and Camp Searchlight):
City of Lost Angels (Boneyard- sometimes plays in the Fort):
Acolytes of the New God (The Cathedral- Joshua Graham’s theme):
Moribund World (world map in 1, Klamath in 2):
Gold Slouch (Redding- plays in NV near to the Highwayman):
Many Contrasts (San Francisco):
My Chrysalis Highwayman:
Van Buren demo track:
Those background colours are, as my brain eloquently puts it, ‘flesh grey and flesh purple’. Yes, I know that ‘flesh grey’ is very much salmon pink and not at all grey...
Of course the VB track ended up including purple hgfdgh
#the main takeaway from this is that 'bwaaaaam' noises = red zigzags lol#and fallout 2 = blue#synesthesia#synaesthesia#drawing#please excuse my use of ms paint#didn't fancy using krita because it has a habit of making me close all my other windows and I have like 10 research tabs open atm#can't represent much with paint brush types so we got a lot of scribbling and spray#long post

My Chrysalis Highwayman csak egy perc de anno rongyosra hallgattam. És amúgyis Fallout 2, szóval ha már rendes dal, akkor A Kiss to Build a Dream On
I can’t include them all so here’s a combo of ‘came to mind first,’ ‘talked about positively most often by fans,’ and ‘stuck in my head’.

ASKS: What’s your favorite song from the Fallout games?
jay-leno-incarnate said to falloutconfessions: Personally a fan of The Wanderer from Fallout 4. But that doesn't mean you won't catch me singing along to every song anytime I play fallout 3, NV or 4
That song is such a good tune. Just recently, within the last week or two it randomly popped in to my head and I turned up the speakers at my desk and jammed out. When it was done, I exclaimed AGAIN! And promptly played it again. Then I told my coworkers, “I’m sorry about the Dion but I just HAD to.”
- Ruckus
More asks under the cut!
khazaiargos said to falloutconfessions: The best song of the series is My Chrysalis Highwayman from Fallout 2. No other song has the same feeling - the tribal undertones of beats reminding of your home village; the upbeat tunes of hope; the midtempo flow of travelling through the desert… The song is perfect and has been part of my travelling mix for almost two decades now.
Damn... That’s giving me goosebumps for some reason. It reminds me of something, a song or another game. I can’t place it. It’s definitely got that kind of free spirit, lone wolf, type of feel to it. Thanks for sharing. I own both of the games, and I’ve only played part of the first game but it is on my list of things that I really do want to complete.

chefpief said to falloutconfessions: Stars of the Midnight Range for new vegas, but for fallout 3 its Way Back Home. Fallout 3 got me a lot into music from the 30s-50s, Nat King Cole, Patsy Cline, Fats Domino, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Carl Butler, Tennessee Earl Ford, Marty Robbins, list goes on for far to long. Nv reintroduced me to classic country, which was a great thing imo.
It’s got a different feel to it, it seems (this is not a slight against modern music at all) like there’s more of a connection with the music and the vocals and everything. Music has always been for entertainment, but even in the days when radio was really big. People listened to the radio to get news, to hear stories, to listen to music. No one could see you so you had to have the energy reall infused into the songs. I’m probably just making shit up here but... It always surprises people when I talk about that type of music and enjoying it. When I was in college I was working part time at the college radio station and we had an older gentleman come to use who wanted to do an afternoon show playing music from that genre. Reluctantly we let him, only for a short time (that part of the story isn’t relevant) but during his show it was almost like flipping on the radio in Fallout 3. I ended up requesting him to play the ink spots, I don’t want to set the world on fire and my coworkers were like “Wait, what? You know this song, you know this music?” And I’m like, “Yeah, Duh...”

Okay ideal car for the post apocalypse. Do you have diffo cars for each? Is the zombie car unlike the mad max car? Etc.
There are a lot of great post-apocalypse cars, and the easy answer might be just about all of them from Fury Road -- especially as imagined in Peter Pound’s production design drawings.
But my answer may have to be my one true automotive love; the Chrysalis Highwayman from Fallout 2.

Lobby & Results 1:
I LOVE the everything, I don't know how to describe my favorite parts! I love the fact that the voice is just going "do do" over and over, I love the cymbal in the background, I love the vibe of early morning it seems to give off where the sky is just starting to brighten a bit, I LOVE the pure nostalgia that is sent over me when I hear it, there is just so much to love!
