a/n: ngl, this one is a little difficult because almost all of edward's life in the orphanage was awful asfkaskfj but I'll try! this is more edward centric than x reader bc I wasn't sure if that's what you wanted. these headcanons jump around from childhood to when eddie is a teenager.

I like to think edward always had really severe bedhead which he would not take care of at all

the exception being if it was for mass, but this used to get him in trouble with the wardens a lot

until one year he just buzzed it all off bc he was sick of getting yelled at about it all the time.... except all the wardens were DEVASTATED

"your hair fit you so well :(((" "why would you do that? it looked really nice when you combed it"

the wardens were rarely ever nice to him so he was very taken aback by this

so he eventually let it grow out again and started. kinda taking pride in his hair?

there wasn't a lot he could do with what little the orphanage had to go around, but sometimes with the money he'd get from his delivery job, he'd buy some nice hair gel and do his hair really neat before leaving for the day. eventually he would get compliments about how nice and soft it was and sometimes pretty people at school would ask to touch it which used to send his little heart into OVERDRIVE

tried growing it down to his shoulders ONE time but he eventually had to invest in hair ties and that was just way too much work

I can't remember if his hobbies are ever mentioned in the before the batman novel but since paul dano is a movie buff in real life, I think it would be cute if eddie was too

when he would get some money, he'd cut class to go to matinee showings and have the time of his life

it was nice bc it was somewhere he could be alone for a few hours and he could always afford a little escapism

the nights where his mind was still fresh with a movie he'd seen earlier in the day were some of the easier ones

sometimes he'd lay up in bed replaying them over and over in his head until he conked out for the night

and sometimes, when the really young kids couldn't fall asleep at night, he'd recite the plot of the movies he saw as bedtime stories

the older kids are awful to him but the younger kids? they love his bedtime stories

(he also might've gotten reported to the wardens about cutting class to see movies but his grades are so good that if they call about him skipping out on a class every now and then, some of the teachers will just straight up lie for him)

(and I mean, he gets really good grades. as long as he passes his classes and isn't getting into anything bad, they couldn't care less)

ironically, his time as a choir boy made him want to join a rock band as a kid

edward probably had a cheap little cd player he kept close to his heart and a secret stash of cds hidden in one of the ceiling tiles in the boys' bathroom that he'd pull out when he was alone and just lose himself in the music

I also like to think he's a fan of math rock and midwest emo because why wouldn't he be

once he got too old to be a choir boy, he started taking lessons from the organist just so he could do something with his hands

but you know what he'd really love to play if he could? the bass

if he'd had the money (and the assurance no one would destroy it), he would've loved to get a bass and just shred on it all hours of the night

(I'd like to think older eddie puts some of that accountant money toward one and it's one of his prized possessions. he may not be the best at it, but he can play his favorite songs and that's much better than nearer my god to thee)

(he definitely sings under his breath too while he plays, partly because his neighbors would complain if he sang any louder and partly because he hasn't really gotten used to losing that choir boy voice)

very eloquent writer!! he used to write poems and songs as a kid that he'd run by his english teacher after class to get advice on

he's written a few secret admirer love letters to crushes over the years with that skill. he never had the guts to reveal he was the one behind them, but he preferred the reveals in his head where they at least could never go wrong

truth was, he'd slip in some riddles from time to time and it almost surely gave him away, but none of his crushes ever outed him on it and that was a small victory

used to take naps in church when he could get away with it but his snore would always give him away

(can you imagine that being why no one liked him. no edward, the orphanage kids didn't hate you because you liked riddles, they hated you because you snore too loud)

near insatiable sweet tooth which he carries into adulthood

teachers would sneak him bags of candy on his birthday that he'd guard with his LIFE so the other kids wouldn't steal any

the wardens would also have to save money on birthday cakes so sometimes all the kids born in a month would all share one cake, but sometimes one of the wardens would save him an extra slice without the other kids knowing if he helped her with her crossword puzzles or filing her taxes

if this takes place in the first snow universe, I'd also like to think that tween-age eddie would sneak out at night to come see you at your place

you'd wait for the tell-tale sign he was there—a small pebble at your window, followed by two more just to be clear, and then you'd rush downstairs to let him slip in through the backdoor

you'd share the leftovers from dinner in your room, laughing under the sheets as you shoot "would you rather"s at each other for as long as you have breath in your giggling little lungs

(you'd almost been caught a few times, and as eddie got older and as he eventually started climbing through your window when his legs got long enough, the rush of hiding under your bed while your father asked what all the noise was about would get him a little lightheaded)

sometimes you two would even lay in bed with the bedroom door locked (when you were old enough to get away with doing that), sharing your fears and worries and ambitions for the future

and you'd always fall asleep first

and he would just lay there, content, facing you, watching your smushed face in the pillow and your hand still half gripping at his wrist over something funny he'd said ten minutes earlier

he'd always tuck you back in tight and sneak out the back door bc he didn't want to leave the window open in the winter, and he surely didn't want to wake you to close it

your mother sometimes saw, but she never said a thing about it to you, and you and edward were both too confidently stupid and young to think you'd been caught

and if you noticed that she always made just a little too much extra at dinner these days... well, nothing really needed to be said about that

hey, found your blog by accident. i see that you have many opinions on chess. what are your thoughts on freddie's arc in the obc? ngl, i kind of love that he never improves. he's a hysteric diva to the end. i think that's so fun but it's also so interesting how he gets a weird sort of redemption arc in every single revival i've read the summary of lol. florence vassy you just haven't got the instincts of a winner!!!!!!!!!!

okay first of all we need to understand two things. 1) I received a CD of the original concept album for christmas, which I promptly loaded into my car's CD player, and 2) it took me a really long time to guess what OBC might stand for. I'm still not totally convinced it isn't Original British Concert, but enough about Chess in Concert! enough, I say! I don't care what Tim Rice said in 2009, Chess in Concert is the coward's way out!

Original Broadway Cast Freddie is a great Freddie because he sucks so bad. it is so important that Freddie sucks. it is, I would argue, fundamental to his character that he sucks like crazy and is generally unpleasant to be around. Broadway Freddie is so weird and dramatic and pathetic. he throws a big fit about the yogurt, he ditches Mountain Duet to do One Night in Bangkok, he's Walter's babygirl who is so so easy to manipulate. they don't let him in on the big plot to get Anatoly back to Russia, they don't even let him win at chess on his own merits!! Anatoly has to outright throw the match for Freddie to finally become world champion, which I find a very funny choice for the American version of the musical.

within the swirling multiverse of Whatever Chess Is Supposed To Be, I like Freddie a lot. I like when he acts weird and bad, because the point of him is to be a flawed human being whose faults reflect on himself rather than the material success of his country/capitalist ideology. Freddie gets to be annoying and misogynistic and hurtful and childish all out in the open because he is Anatoly's mirror, because Anatoly is not a paragon of Russian ideology/communist superiority, he is also just some guy who sucks and is hurtful and misogynistic and childish. Anatoly fighting for his right to be judged as an individual invites this comparison by default - as rivals, they are the only truly "equal" characters in the story - so when Anatoly becomes a man who is not the Representative of Everything Russian, it makes the viewer aware that Freddie is not just a boiled down extraction of what it means to be American. and therefore, when Freddie does something lame and bad, we know this is because he is lame and bad as an individual, and that Anatoly is also lame and bad on his own merits.

I don't think Freddie needs a redemption ("redemption" or maybe, like, "minor improvement") arc to be an interesting character, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything from the Broadway version of him where he doesn't really grow or change as a person. the MOST important thing about Freddie is his positioning relative to Anatoly (men will hurt every woman who comes into their life because their real [NARRATIVE PARALLEL] is another man), so as long as that's interesting, I'm having a great time. in the original Broadway production Freddie is unaltered by the events of the plot, and therefore Anatoly is pulled, magnetically, back to his starting position. the board resets, same as it ever was, with Anatoly back in Russia, Freddie chasing fame as the American champion, and Florence alone, with nobody on her side.

1. How does your character sleep? Peacefully, fitfully? What position do they sleep in? What is their typical bedding like?

Tbh I don’t know him well enough yet to know if he sleeps peacefully, or be a 100% certain on his position. But he strikes me as someone that sleeps either on his back, or on his side. Tho I do know for sure that his bed is a nice big one, and it’s a mess of pillows and blankets. Some of the covers are soft, akin to silk. It’s just him in his bed but that doesn’t stop him from surrounding himself with pillows, with at least 4 by his head.

 10. How is your oc about medical care? Do they avoid any form of healthcare that they can, do they seek it out over every little scrape? Do they treat their injuries/illness all by themselves?

He usually treats his injuries and illnesses by himself, unless it’s something pretty serious, then he seeks out a doctor.

 16. If your oc could only eat one thing for the rest of their life (while miraculously not suffering from malnutrition), what would it be? Does this match their favourite food?

Oof this is another one that Idk him well enough for. But I know he likes meat, so probably steak? Well seasoned, maybe with some sauce on it. I think he rarely eats things plain, like JUST a steak with nothing on it.

 7. How would you describe your oc’s voice? Do they have an accent? Do you have any voice claims for them?

He’s p new but also I suck at describing voices. I don’t THINK he has an accent? Definitely no voice claim. His voice is…idk. Gravely??? I feel like that’s not the right term. Like Idk gravely but more high pitched??? IDK

I feel like it’d be him tapping his foot and going from grinning to a lil frown.

Tbh I feel like Storm’s the kind of person to just leave random garbage on the floor and watch people be like ‘hmm’ at it like it’s modern art. Or he’d put in a bit more effort and crush something metal or a soda can in some weird impossible-ish way and just leave it there.

 13. What is your oc’s immune system like? Are they invincible to illness, or are they compromised completely from the slightest of dirt?

He’s somewhere in the middle, honestly? He’s usually relatively okay, but is prone to falling ill when it’s cold/flu season around winter, though when he does get sick he rides it out pretty fast.

 20. Does your oc have any pleasure that embarrasses them so they keep it secret? Or are they open about all the things they enjoy?

He doesn’t have anything that embarrasses him as far as things he enjoys go. Though there are things that he’ll keep secret for the sake of the safety of his friends. He won’t reveal that he lives in a big mansion (the fact that it’s a mansion doesn’t matter to him, just that he has a roof over his head), or just how much he enjoys Zee’s company, unless he’s really close to someone.

 7. How would you describe your oc’s voice? Do they have an accent? Do you have any voice claims for them?

Storm’s actually one of my few OCs that has a voice claim! Kind of. The voice from Mugen from Samurai Champloo, but a tad more high pitched. He has a southern accent, though he fakes it. Whether it’s convincingly or not depends entirely on how funny it’d be for it to be obvious it’s fake in the moment HSGDHSGDSH

He’d play around with his artificial arm by making crackles of electricity.

I feel like it’s not easy to annoy him if you’re a stranger, at least as long as you’re trying to annoy him just by jabs at his own person. He’d get more annoyed if jabs aimed at his brother start happening. But otherwise he either brushes off annoyances, or fires back at the people trying to annoy him by trying to annoy them in turn.

 14. Does your oc do anything “just for the aesthetic”? Or are they completely practical in everything?

Tbh 90% of his look is ‘just for the aesthetic’. There are practical uses in the things he uses, such as things that conduct electricity and/or will amplify the power of his element based hits. But there’s also no practicality in the back of his shoes being able to draw from his power and light up and leave an electric trail behind him. It’s all just shiny zappy aesthetics SHDGSHGD

 22.How long can your oc stay focused on one task before they get bored? Do they constantly have to switch things up or do they hyperfocus? What sort of things is it the opposite for?

Unless he’s in some sort of danger where he definitely has to 100% focus on the task at hand and getting out of trouble, he can get pretty bored if what he’s doing isn’t interesting to him. Like he could mess around with the zircon for hours, trying to figure things out about it. But give him, idk, a rubiks cube, and he’ll mess around with it for like 5 minutes before going ‘uGH I cant do it this is boring’ and trying to find something else to do.

GOD HE’S SO COMPETITIVE. If you give him ANYTHING and tell him it’s a competition, he HAS to come out on top. Doesn’t matter who he’s up against, especially if you introduce him to it like ‘this is a competition and this other person is SO good at this, I bet they’re better than you at it’ he’ll go fuckin. Feral. SHDGSHDG. He HAS to win and prove that he’s better or at the very least worthy

 23. What is the most annoying sound to your oc? What’s the most pleasant? Is there any reason?

Tones of voice that sound even the littlest bit condescending to him while someone is talking to him HSGDHS He hates being looked down upon, or made to feel like he hasn’t tried his best even though he knows he has. He really really hates the type of talk that makes him feel like the person talking is basically saying they know him better than he does himself.

He loves the sound of rain. He loves rain in general, and if it’s not an outright windy storm, he’ll go out in it. Being out in the rain is connected to him getting to relax and calm down at this point.

 31. What time of day is your oc most awake? What about most tired? Do they get up at the same time every morning without need of an alarm, or is their sleep schedule all over the place?

The morning is when he’s most tired, and the afternoon is when he’s most awake. His sleep schedule is all over the place when it comes to waking up. Sometimes he gets up in the morning without being prompted to, other times he sleeps in. Winter is when his schedule leans more towars “sleeps in” 90% of the time because he’d rather stay snuggled up in bed than get up.

I ACTUALLY FIGURED THIS OUT RECENTLY AND I HATED HOW IT HAPPENED SHDGSHDGSH

Ok so I had like a clear type of voice for him in my head for months, but no examples of it or ways to describe it. And then a week or so ago there was a video on my dash. You know the purple scientist dude from OK KO? Well evidently he’s voiced by a VA that also voices a character in GTA.

So the video was voice clips from his character in GTA, synced to clips from the dude from OK KO. It had some types of profanities bc ofc it did its GTA, the types that’d normally cause me to stop a video and move along. But I didn’t because the goddamn voice was *perfect* for Sharp. ESPECIALLY how he sounds like when he yells. There’s this one bit where he yells “rrgghHHHH ASSHOLE!!!! EVERYBODY!!!! ASSHOLES!!!!” and it’s goddamn peak Sharp both in the line and in the voice and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. So I just sat there listening to this continuously like ‘wow! I hate when certain things are mentioned but this is Sharp’s voice!!’

Something like that except instead of occasional foot tapping Sharp’s muttering things like ‘c’mon play the game’. And he progressively gets shoutier like ‘play the game…just…just. PicK UP. THE CONTROLLER!! AND PLAY THE GAME!!!! PLAY THE GAME ALREADY!!!!’ until he finally has enough and lunges at the screen like “juST FUCKIN GO ALREADY GIVE ME THAT CONTROLLER!!!!” shdgHSGDHSGDHS

What color was the last swimsuit you wore? I only have a black one. Is your dream job attainable? I mean define “dream job.” I’d ideally be a meerkat biologist if I was willing to live in Africa and could handle even mild heat, but I can’t/won’t do either of those, so it’s not obtainable to me. I’d also love to be a paleontologist if I could travel and handle heat once more, but again, I can’t. My only *attainable* dream job is being a photographer, which I am aiming for. I’d LIKE to focus on nature/wildlife photography, but that’s unlikely to be able to support me, so. Do you have to go to school or work tomorrow? N/A Have you slept for longer than usual today? Yes, but only because of my nightmares. ngl im too excited abt this au to not post anything so here’s a lil sneak peak from my brady/quinn ballet au bc im having sm fun writing this :)

Brady hears the hum of the stage lights before he sees them, a low buzzing that pierces the peace he had worked himself back into, weaving his movement into the harmony of the building. He watches through the window, spray paint still in the corners of the glass from what he’d heard described as 2010’s biggest afterparty. A boy, no older than him, appears in the wing, clutching what looks to be a CD as he strides forward, messenger bag slung over his shoulder.

The boy walks with a graceful, confident posture, setting his things down near the front of the stage, where the nine hundred year old resident CD player resides, still crackling out a radio broadcast when first turned on. A sweet, slow melody swims through the seats, brushing its fingers over the high ceilings of the theater, as the boy moves to the center of the stage.

Considering the fact that he spends a good amount of his life at this theater, observing the constant string of rehearsals, Brady has witnessed plenty of ballet dancers honing their craft, performing long and intricate routines, but none of them even come close this dancer. He can’t seem to look away from the way he appears to melt gravity into putty in his hands to accommodate each move, leaping in spanning arcs and twirling enough to make Brady’s own head spin and moving his body in a way that shouldn’t be possible. He lifts up onto his toes, every muscle in his legs on full display through his thin athletic tights, grace dripping from his fingertips. Brady forgets how to breathe.

The boy finishes his piece on the tips of his ballet shoes, raising a leg behind him, his arms outstretched towards the invisible audience. Brady grips the clipboard to refrain from clapping. The mystery dancer reaches down to press repeat on the CD player, and he does the routine all over again, rewinding a couple of times to perfect a move that Brady had already thought was flawless, but somehow he does it impossibly better, even more graceful, than before.

Eventually, the dancer collects his belongings and disappears into the wing, dimming the stage lights as he goes, and it feels like he takes all of the air in the theater with him. Brady is left stuck to the edge of seat, unable to focus on his notes for the rest of the night.

i can’t believe that today is the day taylor’s debut album turns 11 years old

i used to have one of these in pink and all i had on it was tim mcgraw, teardrops on my guitar, mary’s song, picture to burn and our song. that’s all i listened to of taylor’s because i couldn’t afford to buy her CD. 

i really became invested in taylor when fearless came out (i listened to it illegally ngl) and then my best friend gave me the platinum edition for christmas (in which i remember dropping to my knees and crying). i then BEGGED my parents to buy me a really cheap CD player and shitty headphones and just listened to the album on repeat for MONTHS.

it’s amazing and absolutely inspiring how far taylor has come, going from this up and coming country artist to a chart topping pop princess. i can’t believe i’ve been there to witness it all. i may not have been to every tour, i may not have been as active on social media as some other fans, but i’ve watched this beautiful woman grow and have supported all her music and everything that she does.

she is the one person in my life who has yet to let me down and i know whenever i’m feel bad about myself and feel absolutely alone, i have taylor. i went through my middle school awkward phase, finding out who i was in high school through all the drama and heartbreak and transitioned into adulthood by finding my passion and graduating with an associate’s degree from a two year photography school with her by my side. she is the one thing that has been constant since i was 10 years old and i feel like she’s a big part of me growing up into the hard-working and confident 21 year old that i am now.

thank you @taylorswift for the past 11 years, you have no idea how much you mean to me and how much you’ve impacted my life. i can’t wait for this new album to come out so i can feel the same way i felt when i heard tim mcgraw for the first time.

8 pm is just such a prime time to lay down and take a break but it really depends on what the day is. if it’s a weekend id say 8 am is a prime time because i can just do nothing but the weekdays is 8 pm because im usually done with my homework by then.

every since i saw a choreography video of shape of you by ed sheeran i really wanted to learn how to dance. the only dance experience i have is ballet when i was little but i quit. i like hip hop way more now and i think it would be fun to learn a kpop dance with other friends that can’t dance for heck either

as in do whatever do you mean like do whatever without a price ?? i would totally spend the first half of my birthday in south korea and hang out with my besties,, we’d get sushi and mess around and then i would fly back to america (timezones) and spend the whole day with my friend in north carolina and finally get to meet her after years !! we’d cuddle and watch movies or go on walks

What does your dream bedroom look like?

everything with white with soft colors (and lots of brown). there would be fairy lights up around the room and the curtains would let just enough light in in the morning. my bed would be small and against the wall. walk in closet with all my clothes organized. a cute lil rug for me to lay on when i need to lay on the ground. an organized desk against the wall as well with a bookshelf and a cd player that actually matches the room aesthetic

Why'd ya say 50 then 10 goofy anon? Ahaha10-CDs or VinylGotta say vinyl, as I've owned a record player longer then a diskman. Sadly my old reliable went out of commission so my parents got me a turntable for my late grad gift and I bought some fantastic speakers.
