.
It began to rain as soon as Amy arrived at the Resistance. It has been a long day, she had a new job that required most of her night time. It was busy around the day but not as busy at night. She was adjusting well to her night shifts but she had to admit that not sleeping properly got the best of her.
She had to wake up early tomorrow too, she needed the extra cash, so she took on more shifts.
She didn't get enough time to tell Shadow that there was no way she was going to accept the restaurant he gave her.
Even if he asked her to take it as a favor, she was going to deny it.
She finished showering, brushing her teeth and hair and finally, she was going to get some sleep. She closed her eyes, expecting her to fall asleep immediately.
But that didn't happen, her mind was still trapped by that memory.
.
"So you are Maria, good thing you are here so I can-"
Amy was cut off as she felt a strong hand being placed on her right shoulder. Shadow wasn't looking at her directly but his eyes were aimed at the attractive blonde hedgehog. Amy knew it right there and then ... Shadow's eyes had a soft look, one that she had never seen. The fire in them had revived the moment their eyes met and Amy was terrified at the thought that Shadow was right.
He still loved her.
"Leave us," Shadow softly said. His voice sounded soft but at the same time firm. His message was clear, he was demanding for Amy to leave, but he didn't want to be rude about it either.
Amy couldn't do much, there were so many things that she wanted to say ... but she needed to save all of her thoughts for later.
She pushed Shadow's hand away, a bit hurt that he had to take Maria's side. She didn't take it personally, she knew that the couple needed to talk but it still pained her see the look that Shadow gave her.
"I'll see you later,"
And she left.
.
It has been a week now and she hasn't seen Shadow at all. She asked Rouge and Omega, but they said that since that day; they haven't seen him.
Amy went as far as to ask G.U.N's Commander if he knew information about her black hedgehog friend.
"He is taking a small break."
That's all he said to her. She looked for him everywhere, his house, which was empty. The park, restaurants, and places he had been seen at. Amy began to worry and it angered her that nobody really cared to know about his whereabouts either.
"Don't worry too much about him," Rouge added, "Shadow tends to disappear from time to time ... He just needs to cool off after what happened,"
Amy was at Rouge's house, thinking the one she could go to was the bat. She knew Shadow for the longest time, and if anyone knew about his weird behaviors, it was her.
"Will he come back?" Amy said as she looked at her cup of tea, her reflection showed her sadness.
"Of course, he left his favorite bike here ... Shadow would never leave forever without his bike." Rouge added, "Which reminds me, yesterday, we received the bike you gave Shadow."
"What? But Maria had it last time."
Rouge, who was sitting on the couch looked over at the small stand next to her. She opened a small box that was on top of it and she showed her DR's keys.
"Yes... strangely, it was back on G.U.N's vehicle parking. We don't know who left it but..." Rouge threw the keys at Amy as she caught them immediately. "There's not enough room in my garage, do you mind taking it with you?"
.
Now she drove DR without any restrictions. She wasn't going anywhere specifically, she was driving just to steam off some feelings.
She drove around the park, through the city, through hills and even the beach.
She felt pathetic at knowing she wasn't capable of doing anything when Shadow was in a dark place.
Her heart ached in pain at the thought of Shadow's suffering, there was a feeling inside of her; telling her that he must find him. She had grown attached to the hedgehog. She could admit that much. He was stubborn and selfish but he was incredibly sweet.
She found herself enjoying the company of the black hedgehog, to the extent she couldn't imagine a day without him. She adored seeing him try new things for her, the tender look on his eyes when would offer her his protection.
And the angelic laugh he shared with her.
Amy shook her head as she stopped her motorcycle with a sudden halt.
Was she? No, she couldn't be.
Her heart belonged to Sonic and him alone.
Shadow just a close friend.
A really close ...close friend that she cared for deeply.
Amy sighed as she mentally convinced herself that Shadow was nothing but a close friend. She turned on her bike again and went back to the Resistance before the night trapped her in it's darkness.
.
The next day, Amy ended her day shift at the restaurant. She was in a happier mood since she received a message from Rouge saying that Shadow was back at his apartment.
She couldn't wait to see him. She was excited to his angry face, his beautiful ruby eyes and warm smile-
Amy stopped herself again.
She was just glad he was back.
.
Amy clicked on the doorbell and she found herself nervous as she heard footsteps coming closer to the door.
She touched her quills to soften them, just to make sure Shadow wouldn't see them all frizzled. She hoped she didn't look bad after a long day at work.
She was looking down at the floor until she heard the apartment door open.
She looked up and green eyes met blue, the subside anger that was within Amy began to merge again.
"What are you doing here?", Amy hissed at her as Maria took a soft stand, enjoying her anger.
"I live here pinky."
Amy didn't think too much about it, she didn't pull out her hammer. Instead, she wanted to enjoy the feeling of her fist impacting Maria's face.
She was strong and Maria was caught by surprise. She found herself on the floor, bleeding from her nose.
Amy entered the apartment kinda surprised at her reaction. She didn't know if she was furious because Maria called her 'pinky' or because she implied that she was living under the same roof as Shadow.
"What do you think you are doing?!" Shadow came out of his room, storming to the living room where the two were.
"I am getting rid of the trash for you," Amy added as she got close to Maria.
"She hit me, Shady!" Maria whined. Although she wasn't too much in pain, she pretended to be so she could have Shadow's attention.
"What the fuck is your problem?" Shadow bent down towards Maria, making sure she was alright.
Again, Amy noticed those eyes.
Now she understood everything. It was the first time Shadow had actually cursed at her and she swore she could feel her heart shattered the moment the word escaped his lips. Shadow was hostile but he had never been this rude to her.
His eyes only showed concern towards Maria and to her... disappointment and angered.
He was siding with her. Maria who hurt Shadow in ways she didn't think it was possible. Maria who left him for another man while Shadow was at the hospital. She, who cheated on him multiple. All of the people he could side with, he took her side. Given her all attention, his tenderness, his affection.
And it hurt more because deep down... Amy wanted to be her.
"Are you siding with her?" Amy asked. She held her fists tightly, trying to contain herself.
"I think that's obvious." He replied.
"Why?"
Their eyes met, for a second Shadow felt embarrassment fill his body as he knew that his friend's intentions only meant good. He shouldn't have spoken to her like that. He should be with her right now, trying to explain about the decision he has taken.
Shadow's thoughts were abruptly interrupted as he felt Maria's lips touch his. She deepened the kiss the moment Shadow opened his mouth to protest. It was for a few seconds, after that they parted and Maria looked intensely at Amy.
"I think it is pretty obvious as well."
She wanted to take her hammer out and beat the hell out of the blonde one.
But she didn't. She walked away, containing the tears that pleaded to get out her eyes. She was stronger than this, she had gone through worse and she knew that no matter what... everyone left.
And that was just meant to happen.
Her agents, Cream, Knuckles, Tails, Sonic and now Shadow.
Everyone seemed to want to disappear from her life and eventually she learned that no matter how hard she tried... Everyone would leave her.
She didn't need anyone, she didn't need their good deeds. She was better by herself ... alone.
She exited the apartment and immediately went towards DR, she turned on the bike and was about to leave when suddenly; Shadow stood in front of her.
Shadow saw her glossy eyes, he noticed she was fighting the need to cry and Shadow regretted everything immediately.
From the time he had known Amy, he had never seen her shed a single tear. She was the strongest individual he knows and to see her almost break ...
It completely made his heart stop.
A few seconds passed, in which Amy and Shadow didn't share a word. She was starting to feel irritated.
She looked down at the bike, she laughed sarcastically as she stepped down from the bike.
"Of course," She threw the keys at Shadow and out of instinct he caught them. "It's your bike, keep it."
But that wasn't what Shadow meant. He was just lost at words, he couldn't stop thinking about the look on Amy's face.
He could handle the disappointment of everyone, their hate.
But he couldn't think of a single day he could live with Amy's disappointment on him.
"She has changed!" Shadow screamed at Amy making her stop in her tracks.
"This past week ... We went away together and she swore to me-"
"I don't want to hear it," Amy said, her back still facing Shadow.
"Can't you just be happy for me?" The sentence came out of Shadow's mouth. He didn't mean for it to sound rude, but his desperation at not making Amy feel better overtook him.
"Why should I be happy when I know you are just going to end up hurting yourself?" Amy's voice cracked as she found it more difficult to keep her composure.
"Because that's what friends do ... don't they?"
"I would have supported you Shadow," Amy added, "Anyone but her."
"You better than anyone should understand." Shadow walked towards Amy, he wanted to have contact with her but restrain himself from touching her. "I would have been happy for you if you were to date Sonic ... even if I despise that bastard."
Amy was quiet as if she wanted him to continue.
"Can't you understand? ... If you could, you would drop everything and go away with him. Wouldn't you?" Shadow added, he placed his hand on Amy's shoulder as he tried to look at her reaction. "It's the same for me-"
Amy turned around and slapped his hand away from her shoulder.
Finally, angry tears came out of her eyes and Shadow could 't handle it. It seemed like magic almost. That even when with tears dropping from her eyes, Amy was still holding up together.
While watching her cry only made Shadow break.
"No ... I wouldn't...I did stay for you Shadow." Amy gave one last look at the black hedgehog. "Think about that."
.
It must have passed a while since Shadow was left standing on the parking lot.
The sun was already setting and he was still there and would have stayed if it wasn't because Maria went to check on him.
"So, she gave you the bike," Maria said as she broke Shadow's trance. "Even after you practically beg me to give it back."
Shadow looked at Maria leaning on the bike's seat and Shadow felt the urge to move her away.
He secretly didn't want anyone but him and Amy on the bike but he wasn't going to say that to his girlfriend.
"I am hungry ..." Maria interrupted again, "Can you get us something to eat?"
.
Amy didn't feel like doing anything. It was already night time and wanted to go to the Resistance already and sleep.
She finished her night shift at the new restaurant she was working at. She left the restaurant tired and was about to walk away until she noticed the blue bur waiting for her outside the restaurant.
Sonic got closer to the pink one and so did she. It was a bit chilly and Amy covered her arms, trying to protect herself from the cold.
Sonic noticed this and he took out his blue and white jacket and put it on Amy. She gladly accepted the gesture.
She looked at him in the eyes, and he immediately knew that she wasn't feeling the best.
"Do you want to go for a walk?" He asked and smiled at her. She nodded, she loved the way he could understand her without her having to say much.
.
She had to admit that she loved the safety he gave her whenever he carried her.
They ended up walking down the city, just chatting and talking about themselves. It was a relief for Amy however. She had a few hours she didn't have to think about Shadow.
They were now outside the Resistance, Sonic wanted to make sure that Amy returned home safe.
"We are here."
"Yes..."
Sonic hated the sad look Amy had in her eyes. He wanted to restrain himself from asking but he wanted to help her in any way possible.
"You know you can tell me anything ... Right?" Sonic softly asked as he grabbed Amy's hand. It was quiet but the sound of passing cars and the chatter of the people interrupted that.
"Shadow..."
Sonic stopped breathing for a second. The way she uttered Shadow's name made him freeze. Her tone was hurt but loving as well.
Sonic waited for Amy to continue, waiting for the whole story.
"He is just so stupid,"
Sonic sighed, relieved that they both agreed on something. He sighed heavily, for a slight moment he was scared that Amy was going to confess her intimate feelings about Shadow.
He didn't know what he had done, and right now he didn't care. He just cared about the pink hedgehog who was standing in front of him.
Although she looked tired, her beauty still made a presence. The moonlight only made her shine, almost goddess-like and Sonic found himself chanting love songs in his head.
However, he took into consideration Amy's feelings as well. "I know Shadow most have done something to upset you but Amy..."
Amy looked into Sonic's eyes and it was that moment that Sonic knew he couldn't stop himself from asking.
"We can talk about that later ... I know this is going to be selfish of me." Sonic added, "But I am scared I am going to lose my courage if I let this moment go."
"What are you talking about?" asked Amy.
Her confusion was extremely cute to Sonic and he placed his face closer to Amy, closing his eyes as he did so.
"Can I ... kiss you?"
Sonic waited for Amy to respond and a few seconds passed and Sonic felt embarrased. He was about to pull away from her face but Amy surprised him with her lips touching his. They were small kisses and Sonic thought that it was the most adorable thing he could ever experience. This was probably Amy's first kiss and Sonic smiled between the kisses at the realization of it.
When Amy pulled away and saw Sonic's dumb look on his face; she felt warmness raise to her cheeks.
Sonic came back to reality as he held Amy's hand. "Now, do you want to talk about what's bothering you?"
She nodded and held his hand tightly with hers. The Resistance's doors opened. As they walked in, Amy smiled at Sonic, happy at the kindness and tenderness he was showing her.
Even if it was just a temporary thing, Amy felt happy that she didn't have to be alone tonight.
.
Shadow never thought that he did find himself racing motorcycles again. His mind was clouded with anger, as he threw into the trash the red roses he had boughten for Amy.
He texted Maria that he was going to be late and to order some Chinese food to be delivered at the apartment.
Now, he was racing some guys that took interest in his bike.
The deal was simple, whoever gets out of the forest first wins.
Whoever wins, would take the bike of the loser as a prize.
Now, Shadow's talents were to the test. This wasn't a simple race through the park. Now there were multiple obstacles he had to evade to win. Pine trees everywhere, bushes, holes in the ground, bumps; without mentioning that he was racing guys who spent all their lives in motorcycles.
Shadow liked the challenge and right now it was what he needed. Just to forget what he saw before.
But he just couldn't.
He couldn't forget the tender kisses Amy gave Sonic as he passed by the Resistance.
He wanted to ask her for forgiveness, but she was too busy giving affection to Sonic that she didn't realize he was there. With red roses in his hands, ready to talk things out.
He accelerated more as he noticed that one of the motorcyclists was ahead of him.
He began to worry as more approached behind him, quickly gaining more speed.
He couldn't afford to lose his bike. Not this bike, not DR. He had already lost Amy ... he couldn't afford to lose the only thing that attached him to her.
He kept speeding and successfully went ahead of the motorcyclists but his mistake was that he looked back.
His mistake ... was to look back.
He crashed against a pine tree and the pain that came with it reminded him of memories.
Looking back brought him pain, taking into consideration past things that shouldn't have been involved in his future pained him.
He was bleeding and he swore he had broken a rib or two.
It was exactly what he wanted. To feel this pain again.
But he began to growl the moment he realized that the pain he was feeling couldn't compare to the pain he felt when he saw Amy with Sonic, entering the Resistance with the most loving look in their eyes.
He lied to himself and to Amy. He had told her, he would be happy if she was with Sonic.
So why couldn't he?
Shadow sighed as he heard the motorcyclists go past him, a few minutes went by and he realized that the situation he was in was different from the ones he had been in before.
The first time he crashed was because he saw Maria with someone else.
And someone was there for him.
The second time he crashed, Amy was there for him.
And now Shadow found himself completely alone.

‌ ‌ ‌   ‌It’s‌ ‌only‌ ‌been‌ ‌a‌ ‌minute‌ ‌since‌ ‌John‌ ‌had‌ ‌gone‌ ‌into‌ ‌the‌ ‌kitchen,‌ ‌but‌ ‌that‌ ‌minute‌ ‌had‌ ‌felt‌ ‌like‌ ‌hours.‌ ‌Why‌ ‌are‌ ‌you‌ ‌feeling‌ ‌this‌ ‌way?‌ ‌Why‌ ‌is‌ ‌every‌ ‌worry‌ ‌going‌ ‌through‌ ‌your‌ ‌head‌ ‌like‌ ‌there‌ ‌are‌ ‌many‌ ‌reasons‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌in‌ ‌this‌ ‌state‌ ‌of‌ ‌matter?‌ ‌Your‌ ‌breathing‌ ‌becomes‌ ‌heavier.‌ ‌Horrific‌ ‌sobs‌ ‌escape‌ ‌your‌ ‌mouth‌ ‌as‌ ‌you‌ ‌start‌ ‌to‌ ‌feel‌ ‌overwhelmed‌ ‌with‌ ‌thoughts‌ ‌about‌ ‌your‌ ‌loved‌ ‌ones‌ ‌being‌ ‌hurt,‌ ‌or‌ ‌even‌ ‌worse,‌ ‌dead.‌ ‌

hey jemma, would really love some tips about how you've been figuring yourself out, would love to get to that place but difficult to know where to start
ahh hi!
i should probably preface this by saying that this has been a hella long process that’s taken place over the past 2 years.
a lot of this post is gonna be me talking about my experiences bc i’m not really good at the whole second person advice thing. so i hope this is helpful in some way!! also lol sorry this got really long, i just had lots of thoughts
*tw mention of eating disorders, nothing too in depth but just like talk about anorexia and such things*
i kinda started this journey in fall of 2017 when i realized i had lost myself and was struggling severely with an eating disorder and went to see the therapist at my uni who specializes in eating disorders. she diagnosed me with anorexia which was like a major wake up call and i was like jfc who am i what am i doing to myself how did i get this way. i had lost over 20 pounds and was completely focused on how i looked and i felt so out of control of my life and my desires and ambitions that i coped with it through controlling my weight and how i looked. long story short, saw this therapist through fall of 2017 and at the beginning of december had a breakthrough, which was when i said “i don’t want to be thin, i want the things i think being thin will get me”, thus the start of my recovery began.
i then spent 8 months of 2018 studying abroad in london and traveling around europe and met the most amazing people and had some of the best experiences of my life (shout out to my girls matilde @timobeechalamet and megan @blxckisthecolor) and because i was so focused on traveling and school i didn’t really have any sense of self, which actually was quite beneficial because i was trying to recover from this traumatic thing and the distraction of travel and school were very helpful.
went back to the states in dec and graduated from uni this may. spent my last semester focused on myself and finishing my degree and spending lots of time with my friends. and here’s where i really started to work on myself.
i’ve always had lots of anxiety around school and perfection (which is why i initially started seeing a therapist 4 years ago) and it took me a lil while but i’ve realized that i don’t feel these kinds of pressures anymore because i’m out of this environment which was stifling and stressful, i’m able to be myself more. which brings us up to the present day where i now feel like i have the time and comfortable environment to enjoy myself and explore new things.
1. focus on your passions. what do you love? what do you love to do? are there classes you can take to learn more? books you can read? my big love is acting so i got a degree in it and then went to LA this summer for a month and a half to go to a film acting school and through that program learned SO much about what i want from myself as an artist. i watch lots of movies and series. find way to incorporate what you love into your daily life. take just 30 minutes for it and just focus on it. i find that keeping a tag on here of things that inspire me artistically can be really helpful bc if i’m ever feeling uninspired or stuck i can go back and look through the posts and get mentally back on track with my passion.
2. writing. i’ve been keeping a journal since i was about 15. i don’t really make diary entries in it but i love lists and making lists about concepts or themes or aesthetics. i recently made a list of all of my favorite meals this way in case i don’t know what to make, i have a basis to go back to of things i know my body loves. some nights i just come up with an idea and i take out my journal and just write and don’t edit myself. just keep the ideas going. no detail is too small. it’s just really nice to have a place with all my thoughts and ideas and feelings. writing is really cathartic for me.
3. bullet journaling. my bullet journal is separate from my other journal and in it i keep my month and mind in check. i draw out each month and write down thoughts and goals of things i want to do for the month. i have pages about the law of attraction and new things i want to try and quotes about acting and being an artist. it’s such a great way for me to customize my life in a sense and have a book of my current life and thoughts to refer to.
4. your space. i am that girl who always has clothes on her bedroom floor, and everything is typically very messy. but that shit stresses me out so much. and so in an effort to try to have more peace in my life, i’m trying to do better about it. literally yesterday i deep cleaned and redecorated half of my bedroom and put in a bookshelf from my dad’s office and put lots of plants and books on it and wow it really transformed my room. it was SUCH a simple thing that took like an hour but really changed the whole vibe of my room. your room is you lil home in ur apartment or house and it needs to be your happy, chill space where you feel comfortable. putting in effort in your room seriously changes so much about your mental attitude. i’m trying to get in the habit of making my bed each morning and it’s been v helpful!!
5. ya body. i think taking care of your body is so incredibly important in your self discovery journey because it affects how your brain works and your outlook on yourself and the greater world. bc of my ed my sense of body has been real fucked for so long (i’m talking like 10 years :))))) ). here’s how i got to a better place with it 1. lots of therapy lol. 2. reminding myself that my body is a living, breathing animal that requires food to function and movement to feel good. breaking the idea of movement (i.e. working out) away from the idea of being skinny has been hard but intensely helpful and effective in the way i view my body. i focus on movement. not working out, not burning calories. things like walking, biking, dancing, ice skating are all physical activities i really enjoy that don’t feel like working out. food is a whole other beast. i totally still struggle with food sometimes but it’s getting better. i’ve been focusing a lot on intuitive eating over the past couple months (these posts by @heavyweightheart have been so incredibly helpful in teaching me about this) and that food list i made a few days ago is also really helpful. my advice would be eat what feels good to your body and makes you have energy and feel good. stay active in your life and move in ways that also feel good. the more i take care of my body, the better my mind feels and the more in touch with myself i am.
6. back off instagram. that shit is... not great. i mean, it def has its moments (and memes) but overall i just feel like insta is a place where people post photos of their “perfect life moments” and want their friends to validate it. and then there’s all those influencers on there and so many insta stories and it’s just really overwhelming. if you really like instagram and don’t feel like it’s anxiety inducing then def keep it! but also know that it’s okay to step back from it for a lil bit. it really helped me to feel more present and not continuously compare myself to others and feel a need to post if a cool thing happened. it’s been nice to be more private and keep things for myself.
7. patience. remembering that things take time and what you want is achievable you just have to keep goings. try new things. change your approach, allow yourself to fail. learn from the failure and do better next time.
8. kindness. towards yourself and others. really putting in the effort to be kind to people in your everyday life makes SUCH a difference and really brightens their day and yours as well. putting out good vibes brings back good vibes, which then allows you to feel better about yourself and more in tune with others around you.
i’m going to stop this here bc this is so fucking long at this point lol i’m so sorry for that but i hope some of this was helpful pls let me know!!

Stray Bird
By: SassyShoulderAngel319
Fandom/Character(s): DC, BatFam - Jason Todd/Red Hood
Rating: PG-11/T- (minor violence)
Original Idea: I dunno. Nothing in particular.
Notes: (Masterlist)(By Character)(About Me) This one’s been sitting in my drafts for ages along with a bunch of others that I’ve been sitting on. I’m gonna try to get some of them posted ‘XD @jason-todd-squad @welovegroot @batboys-and-other-messes
^^^^^
Thud! Thwack! Pow! Crack!
Grunting and the sounds of blows and bones breaking filled my ears. I curled up tighter against the wall in the shadows, desperately wishing not to be noticed.
Just as quickly as it begun, it stopped.
One man stood victorious over the others. He was tall and strong powerfully built. There was a gleaming red helmet over his head and a red bat symbol on his chest.
Red Hood. I recognized him from news reports.
He approached me carefully, holding out a hand. “Are you alright, miss?” he asked. I shrunk away from him as much as I could, pressing my side against the bricks even harder. I whimpered. If he’d taken three men down in fifteen seconds, what was he going to do to me when he realized what I was?
He noticed that I was absolutely terrified, because he dropped his hand, but put both of them up, palms out.
“It’s okay, miss. I'm not going to hurt you,” he said. When I didn’t reply, he sighed and lifted his hands. I yelped. “Don’t worry. Just taking this off.” He pressed the jawline of his helmet. Something on the back of it released, allowing him to pull it off.
He was handsome, but intimidating. Strong jawline, intense gunmetal blue eyes, black hair with a streak of white at the front. He knelt in front of me and offered me his hand again.
“C’mon, little one. I'm not going to hurt you. We’ll get you somewhere safe before these bozos wake up,” he entreated.
Steeling my courage, I reached one hand out and took his. He helped me up.
^^^^^
As the girl stepped into the light, Jason almost gasped.
She had wings. Huge and strong. Under the grime and dirt covering them, they might have been white. She held them so tightly to her back Jason was surprised that she didn’t break the joints.
He shook his head to clear it. “Yeah. We’re going to take you somewhere safe. Come with me,” he said, popping his helmet back on. “I promise I won’t hurt you. No one will ever again.” He kept a loose but comforting grip on her hand as they crept out of the alley and onto the abandoned street. It was nearly four in the morning—it was a wonder that there were still lights on in the city. Why wasn’t everyone asleep?
Jason slung his leg over his bike. “Do you know how to ride?” he asked.
She nodded tentatively.
He patted the seat behind him. “Hold onto me tightly. Keep your wings in,” he said.
“You don’t… you don’t think I'm a freak?” the girl asked quietly.
Jason shook his head. “Princess, my two best friends are a wayward Amazon and a faulty Superman clone. My two best friends before that were a recovering alcoholic and an alien princess who had hair that was literally on fire. A girl with wings is not the strangest thing I’ve ever seen,” he said.
The girl carefully got on the back of his motorcycle, wrapping her arms around his middle and burying her face in the back of his jacket. “Drive careful,” she muttered.
“Of course,” Jason said.
He drove them back to his safehouse—the old bunker under Police Plaza.
Familiar figures were waiting for them.
“Gee. I thought it was Batman’s thing to pick up strays, Hood,” Nightwing said.
^^^^^
I stared. Red Robin, Nightwing, Robin, and Batman were all standing in the bunker where Red Hood had brought me. I could barely see them in the darkness. I wondered if they could see my wings or if it was too dark. I was huddled slightly behind Red Hood.
“She was being attacked, meathead,” Hood snapped at Nightwing. “I took the dudes out.” He turned to look at me, removing his helmet again. “Let’s get you cleaned up, okay? I’ll show you to the shower and then deal with these guys,” he said. I nodded and followed him past Batman and the other vigilantes. I heard Nightwing gasp as I ducked under a spotlight. The other three were silent.
Red Hood took me to the end of the bunker to a small, cramped space with a concrete shower.
“Need a hand washing your wings or anything?” he asked.
I shook my head. “I'm used to doing it alone,” I said.
He nodded. “Holler if you need anything,” he remarked before ducking out of the small room.
“Thank you!” I said as he shut the door.
I stripped out of my clothes and turned on the shower.
^^^^^
“What are you doing here anyway?” Jason asked Bruce, Dick, Tim, and Damian. “I haven’t been causing any more problems than usual.”
“So that explosion yesterday had nothing to do with you?” Tim demanded.
Jason scrunched his eyebrows. “No I wasn’t even in that area of Gotham yesterday. You can check security cameras in the theatre district and see I was there all day. Honestly keeping me in line doesn’t require all four of you to turn up. You coulda just called,” Jason said, keeping his temper in check for the sake of the flighty bird-girl through the other door.
“And what about the stray?” Bruce asked.
“Like I said, she was being attacked. I took out the men who were hurting her—they’re alive—and brought her here to clean up and be safe,” Jason said. “She was terrified and injured and I figured I should give her a hand.”
“She has wings,” Tim said.
“Astute observation, Sherlock,” Jason snapped.
“Jason,” Bruce warned.
“What? You gonna tell me to play nice with my brothers? C’mon, B. You know me better than that.” Jason took a deep breath, trying to calm down. “Now, if you don’t mind, I’d like to ask you all politely to get out. I got stuff to attend to and that girl with wings is at the top of the list. I gotta figure out where she’s from and what help she needs. So, thanks for dropping by. Hope I don’t see you again soon.” He started pushing Dick and Damian toward the door, causing them to bump into Tim and Bruce.
The rest of Jason’s family filed out. Jason slammed the heavy metal door and locked it. He rolled his eyes and turned back to the rest of the bunker.
The shower was still going, so he strolled over to his giant computer and whistled while he set about seeing what he could find on this new girl. She’d shed a feather on the floor just outside the bathroom that Jason scooped up to run through a DNA scan, looking for a name. He also took her fingerprints off his leather jacket.
Was that weirdly invasive considering she was showering in the next room over? Probably. But if he could find out more information, he could find some way to help her.
An Instant Message popped up on his screen.
Nightwing: Good to see you playing nice.
Red Hood: Shut up.
Nightwing: I'm serious, J. You act like you don’t care about anyone or anything. But when we’re out of the frying pan and into the fire, you always give us a hand. Always. I know you care about innocents. Protecting civilians. It’s just good to see you offering the same care to someone as unusual as we are.
Red Hood: Bold of you to assume she’s not innocent just because she has wings.
He quit out of the IM program and went back to running his tests.
Nothing. She didn’t have a name. Nor any DNA in any database he could access. He grunted in frustration—
And quickly closed all the windows he had open as she emerged from the bathroom. Her hair, skin, and wings were all clean, but she was still wearing her filthy clothes. Jason would have to fix that… “Is… everything okay?” she asked timidly, massaging the end of one of her wings between her hands.
“Everything’s fine,” he replied. “You feeling any better?”
“Yes. Thank you for being so kind to me.”
“Of course.”
“I, uh, I don’t have any way to repay you…”
Jason spun around in his chair to look at her. “Kid. You don’t have to repay me for a shower and a ride away from thugs who were trying to hurt you.” He paused. “I never caught your name,” he said.
She shook her head. “I don’t… I don’t have one,” she said. She pushed up her filthy sleeve to reveal a 00319 branded into the muscle of her left deltoid. “I was three-nineteen.”
“Where are you from?”
She shook her head. “A terrible place,” she said.
“If you’re another one of CADMUS’ creations I'm going to level that building and destroy everything underneath it,” Jason muttered. He met her eyes again. “You wanna stay here for a little while? I’ll keep an eye on you till you figure out what you want to do.”
“I don’t want to intrude—”
“You’re not intruding. There’s a cot in the corner. Feel free to crash. And, uh, before you do, here.” He got up and went over to a storage bin. He pulled out a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt. “These’ll probably be a little big on you, but they’re clean. If you need to cut holes in the back, feel free.” Jason pulled a pocketknife out of a drawer and passed it to her with the clothes. She accepted them and looked up at him.
“Thank you,” she offered.
“It’s no problem,” he replied.
She slipped into the bathroom.
^^^^^
The sweatpants were way too long on me and the sweatshirt the same. It bagged on my short torso but the holes for my wings were perfectly sized in a way I didn’t usually get with normal clothing that fit me.
The clothes were comfortable though. Soft and warm. The clothes I’d worn with the doctors were stiff and scratchy. I’d gotten used to the feeling, but these clothes made me want to fall asleep.
I went back out into the rest of the bunker. Red Hood was still sitting at his computer, typing away. I didn’t say anything to him, just walked over to a cot in the corner. It looked different from the cot I used to sleep on in my room—my cell. That one was mesh suspended between the metal frame. This one had a… what was the word? Mat? Matter…? Mattress! This one had a mattress on it. I glanced back at Red Hood as I put my old clothes at the foot of the cot.
“I never got your name,” I said. “I know you’re Red Hood but that’s all.”
He turned and just looked at me for a moment. “I'm Jason,” he finally said.
I nodded. “Thank you, again, Jason. For everything.”
“You’re welcome. Get some rest. We’ll get you a name and anything else you need in the morning,” he said.
I crawled under the blankets covering the cot. It was softer and more comfortable than anything I’d ever slept on. I sighed with pleasure and relaxed for the first time in… a long time. I released the tension in my wings and let them relax too. No one was going to hurt me in the middle of the night.
I wasn’t sure why I trusted this Red Hood—Jason—as much as I did, but I couldn’t help it. Something about how genuine he seemed made me believe that I really was safe. I hadn’t felt safe since Dr. Evans left. She used to keep the other doctors from pushing me too hard.
With a sense of security, I pulled the blankets up over my shoulder, and fell into the deepest sleep I’d ever had.

Fly Away |Two|
Tumblr media
Warnings: None
Words: 1857
Pairing: Peter Parker x Reader
A/N: I’m so glad people are enjoying the story so far and I can’t wait to keep on writing it. This chapter we’ll get to see our main character really interacting with Peter. Enjoy!
I’ll be posting part three super soon seeing that it’s already done.
|Masterlist|
|Prologue| |Part One| |Part Three|
My head tiredly leans into my hand. It takes so much energy to even keep my eyes open to understand what our Algebra two teacher is teaching us. Not that I even care at this point in terms of this class or in general. I’ll just look up online videos online. The rest of me, however, is seemingly in shambles.
This morning I was forced to put on a stained sweatshirt and loose jeans that smelt the way that all dirty clothes do when they lie around for too long. I had just sprayed the whole outfit with the most pungent perfume in my room. Not even waking up on time to catch the train I was forced to ride my bike most of the way which let the rain that I hadn’t even noticed until stepping outside drench me.
I can say pretty confidently that our main janitor hates me now after I walked into school dripping wet. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was out to get me. Especially after I slipped and fell into one of the recently repainted walls, leaving a weird wet splatter.
“Y/N,” someone next to me whispers for my attention. I barely turn my head enough to see all of Peter’s face.
“Hmm,” I hum with an annoyed tone.
“Are you okay,” he asks me with a nervous and unfamiliar, worried smile. I cock an eyebrow at him. My head begins to nod unsurely and I glance back up to the board when I hear Mr. Tiller coughs loudly. I wait to see if he’s pointedly glaring me and Parker down before returning my attention back to the shy boy.
“Really,” Peter laughs and lifts his pencil a little to point at my still wet sweatshirt, “because you’re soaked and look like you haven’t slept in forever.” I stare numbly down at my clothing before shrugging.
“I had a tiring day yesterday, so I woke up really late and had to ride my bike in the rain.” I turn myself all the way back to the lessons. “No biggie.” Next to me Peter shuffles and twists in his chair the most awkward and distracting way possible. I sigh and turn my head towards him again since he’s obviously still seeking a conversation with me.
“Oh- uh- did you hear about that huge fight yesterday?” he asks while pushing back his hair. My eyes immediately narrow at him as I try and figure out what he’s doing. It makes sense that it would be on the news, but why is he bringing it up to me about it. Ned is right by him. Usually, they’re the ones who talk about all the crazy things that happen in New York. Maybe MJ, but other than that he doesn’t go up to anyone else.
I look past him and glare at Ned who seems to have been watching me for god knows how long. Suddenly. Peter plops his elbow down on his desk, leaning on it an ruining my view of his friend.
“Pretty- pretty wild huh?” Peter manages to even make me feel awkward from what he says, and it isn’t because of the topic. “I guess someone got a video of what went down and there’s this super cool girl who like save a kid and…,” his voice drops off for a second as his eyes concentrate on me completely. “Stopped the guys since Spider-Man wasn’t there yet.” Peter quickly shakes himself from whatever trance he was in and finishes his sentence.
“Yeah…” I murmur. “Wild.” The bell abruptly rings overhead, dismissing the class. As quickly as possible I grab my notebook, throw on my backpack, and rush outside of the classroom.
Someone got the fight on video? Does it show my face?
Hastily I yank my phone out of my sweatshirt’s front pocket and begin typing something into the search engine. Immediately, the video of me pops up over everything else. My body moves into the lockers so that people go around me. I tap on the play button and watch the fight like I’m seeing it for the very first time. Surprisingly enough, it really does feel like this is my first time.
The girl in the video moves around and flies off the ground like a graceful dancer. When she throws out the golden blades in her hands and controls them to fly towards each of the criminals it’s captivating. I gasp at the sight of her hovering like an angel in the air, controlling her magic perfectly. The only thing that isn’t in the video is a clear image of her face.
I don’t even remember this. Doing this. Of course I know that I had the fight and I know the basics of what I did, but I had no idea I did them so well.
“She’s pretty cool, don’t you think?” My head twists around, showing my shock, and I find myself nose to nose with Peter. A startled expression spreads across his face from the closeness of our bodies. Even feeling uncomfortable in the situation myself I back away a little bit.
“Yeah,” I mumble.
“Everyone’s trying to figure out who she is. There have even been rumors that the Avengers are trying to find her identity.” I have to look away from him and down at my water filled boots to hide the sudden fear in my eyes. “Her powers are amazing.” When I look up at him Peter’s eyes show an intensity I’ve never seen anyone ever look at me with. His dark brown irises are soft though.
“Do you-,” he stops as if he’s thinking if he’ll be wording this next phrase right. “Do you believe in magic Y/N?” My heart stalls for a second in my chest. The only time any person ever asked me that question was on the playground when I was young and my friends and I were playing stupid, pretend games with moms and dads and annoying teenage sisters that pretended to have a giant wad of gum in their mouth.
That was fun though. Just them purely being curious and not motivated to ask because of videos of sorcerers. I hope that for a second Peter may admit to being joking and just drop the topic. He’s not though. His eyes are glued to mine and he wants to hear my answer. An honest answer.
I swallow and look at the clock telling me we still have three minutes of passing period left. My father would tell me to keep it vague. To not let Peter know the truth about my magic and just say that maybe it is.
The thing is the world is changing though. I saw the sanctions falling on the news and felt the change when the Sorcerer Supreme passed away. Then Strange began fighting alongside the Avengers. People with enough sense should know by now that there is magic in this universe just as there is magic in others.
“Well, of course I believe in magic. Haven’t you seen the stuff that Doctor Strange does?” For a moment Peter smiles at me, but then it turns into a frown when I finish my thought. “Why are you asking me this stuff anyways? Aren’t you and Ned supposed to be best buds or something?” I begin walking down the hall again before I risk being late to another class like this morning. Peter automatically starts following.
“Yeah, but I don’t really talk to you much,” he replies, tucking his hands into his pockets.
“That’s exactly my point Peter,” I clutch my books to my chest. “You don’t socialize with me at all. The only time we ever talk ever is when we’re paired up for projects, and even then we are barely talking-talking to each other. I’m pretty sure you even rush to finish early so we don’t have to spend any time together after school.” The hallways have cleared up except for the few students who are jogging to their classes on the other side of the school. Peter grimaces a little.
“I have stuff I’m always doing after schools, that’s why,” he explains. I roll my eyes and step in front of our class’s door.
“Like what?” I retort. Peter lifts his hands defensively and moves closer.
“Like the Stark internship,” he answers after making an incomprehensible noise. I scoff and open the door. We both walk into chemistry together, ignoring how our peers glare at us. My body loosens a little when I see that our teacher hasn’t come in yet.
“I thought you lost the internship,” I scoff. I remember that day vividly. For the first time in weeks, he had actually been focused on school, but that didn’t change the fact that I could tell that he was devastated. He dedicated a ton of time to Stark.
“I- I got it back,” Peter stutters. “I just thought- you know- maybe we should spend more time together since we both have the same classes.” I twist my body around so that I can stare him down. That’s not the only reason he wants to hang out with me. I know it, but a part of me tells me just to go along with him.
Defeated, I sigh and rub my eyes. “Fine Peter,” I say begrudgingly. A wide smile spreads across his lips as Peter pulls his hands out of the pockets they were once hidden in. The whole class looks over at us as he claps them together excitedly. With a laugh, I roll my eyes.
“Peter, Y/N, can you please take your seats,” our teach asserts to us as she enters. I look back at Peter’s smiling face.
“Wanna hang out after school?” he wonders.
“I thought this was only going to be a during school thing?” I question curiously. Peter shrugs off his bag and throws it next to his stool.
“I only ever said I wanted to get to know you. I never said how.” Before I get the chance to turn down the offer or even ask how I’m going to know where to go he walks away from me and goes to his seat.
“Y/N,” the teacher shouts at me. I mutter a quiet apology and take a seat. Even though I somehow have regained my energy I can’t focus on the lesson. My eyes are still caught on Peter. Luckily he hasn’t noticed my confused staring.
I groan to myself and drop my head. My soft hair drops in front of my face, caging my eyes and keeping me from studying him anymore. The only time I look through the strands is when someone quickly places something on my desk.
A little rectangle piece of paper sits patiently by my calloused fingers. Hesitantly, I pick it up by the corner and inspect it. On the front is a phone number with Peter’s name messily written at the bottom. I glance back really quickly and catch him staring at me as he grabs a tissue from the box lazily before tossing it in the trash without using it. My hand goes up to my mouth to cover up the grin as I pocket the paper.

Chapter 8
It was the next day at training that Hayden went off on me. The boys, Kira and I were training for Lacrosse while Hayden was training for her football. Everyone else was watching from the bleachers, Malia of course stuffing her face with some kind of food. I remember being slightly sad that Brett hadn’t come yet when I looked over at the bleachers and later I would be even more disappointed that he hadn’t come earlier.
“Okay, Reign your go.” Scott called out.
So with stick in hand, with my sports bra and nike shorts I went for the goalie, but before I could reach a ball hit my temple with such force I wobbled and my head snapped to the left.
“Shit, you okay?” Stiles came running.
“Yeah, no biggie.”
I looked over and Hayden was standing there asking for the ball back. And at first thinking it was an accident I just threw it back. And I went back into position to try again, so I picked up the ball with my stick and went for the goalie again. But I felt the same ball hit my temple, with a bit more force this time. This time it was Liam throwing the ball back saying something a long the lines of ‘be careful’ or something I couldn’t really hear, as my ears were ringing. But again I stood up and tried again, stick in front of me and focusing on the goal and getting past Scott and Stiles as we did 2 on 1s. And as I began to run I felt another force hit my neck forcing my head forward. And that time was it.
I turned to Hayden as she stood there with a smirk and her eyes glaring at me.
“Look Hayden, if you have a problem with me just say it instead of trying to give me a football induced concussion.” I said half-joking, half-serious.
She just kept glaring at me with a scoff, the atmosphere getting a lot more intense than anyone expected.
“Uhm, did I do something-”
“I know what happened yesterday, in the locker room with Liam.”
“Oh. Good, I expected he told you everything. Did you guys figure things out for his heat?” I asked worried he actually hadn’t and that another wave was coming.
“I know what you did, Reign. Real slutty you know.”
“What? Are you talking about the comment I made-”
“Yeah the comment you made practically asking Liam to fuck you like some, some-”
“Hey I was only joking, It really isn’t that big of a deal. Me and Liam are friends it was a small joke.”
“You lured him during his heat and then seducing him to take you in front of Scott and Stiles! Making him look into your eyes and all that bullshit, making his heat take over something you knew would happen! You tried to take advantage of his heat so you could get him for yourself. Was Brett not enough for your slutty satisfaction?!”
“What-”
“And who knows what happened between you and Deputy Parrish, you made him light up on purpose didn’t you? What did you do to him in the spare room at the lake house huh? Probably blew him thats what!” Hayden screamed at me pointing an accusing finger pushing my finger as she did. And I was furious but I knew if I didn’t get my anger under control things would get bad even worse than things were already, So I tired my best.
“You know Hayden, its girls like you that slut shame other girls for their sexuality that it gives men the feeling of entitlement to a girls sexuality. But away from that, I didn’t do anything-”
“You’re just some slut from Hell-” and from that I retaliated back with my words.
“It’s not my fault the boy you pushed away felt attracted to me during his heat! You pushed him away, you didn’t want him. I was the one that helped him, I was there for him during the full moon and I was the one there during his heat!”
And at that she punched straight across my jaw, my head snapping the right as the stinging began. I tasted blood in my mouth. And you could hear the gasps of the others.
“You’re just a whore like you demon mother.”
And that was it. Something in me snapped. I spat out the blood in my mouth and swiped my mouth with the back of my arm, smearing blood all over my fore arm.
“You want a fight. Then you’ll get one.”
With my words, she came running at me teeth and claws out with yellow eyes. It was a miracle no one was around us and it was just the pack.
She clawed at me, which I easily dodged all. She was still new to combat, something I had been trained for my whole life. She was strong with her chimera genes but she was slow. And advantage for me as her slow movements gave me open moments. As she reached out again to claw at me, I dropped to kick out her feet and stood back up as she feel forward to kick the front of her throat. She went back, flying back to land on her back on the ground.
“Get up. You wanted this fight Hayden.” I said to her calmly. Obviously in her rage my composure was surely hitting her nerves.
Again she came running roaring but again she was too slow, I stood waiting for her to reach me and just as she was about to I jumped and flipped over her head landing right behind her and using my left forearm to hit her in her ribcage to which she landed on her side, skidding through the grass. With her face down and her hair covering her face. I walked over to her tired out body and lifted her face up with her wavy locks just to shove her face right back down, stopping just as her face came less than inches from the ground.
“I don’t why you have such hatred for me, but try something like this again and I won’t hesitate to stop nor go easy on you like today.”
With my final and warning words I dropped her hair. I turned back around to the others and without looking up,
“Get her to Deaton and make sure she gets cleaned up, and figure your shit out with her Liam.” No one moved.
“Now, Dunbar!” My venomous shout finally getting Liam to move and rush to Hayden’s side. I swallowed hard and as I looked up there was Brett, looking at me in pure shock and then that shifted to what I hated most coming from him.
“What the hell was that Reign?!” Scott came to me more than mad.
“She was out of control.” I said calmly looking up at the alpha who was struggling to keep his own cool.
“That doesn’t mean you have to fight like that, you could’ve killed her!”
“But did I?” At that Scott was speechless.
“You know what, maybe on somethings Hayden was right. She warned me about how you could be dangerous. Maybe the demon side in you is the real you.”
My eyes widened slightly as he spoke. I knew Scott was still wary of me but I didn’t think he’d think of me like that. The words hurt, but most of all I couldn’t bring myself to deny them.
“Is that what you all think of me?” I said without looking at anyone but the ground.
As I turned to look at everyone else they all said nothing no words of “no, you’re better than that, Scott’s wrong, Haydens wrong’ none of that came to my ears, they all either looked at me with wide eyes or looked away from me. And the one thing that all had in common was that in their auras all of them had disappointment and guilt hovering over each and every on of them. I finally looked to Brett as my last hope, but his eyes were filled with what I feared most. It would’ve been better if he was just angry but no all I saw on his face was disgust and disappointment.
With that I walked to grab my sports bag and walked away from the field and everyone.
I slid down my door as I closed it with my back, Seraph was instantly standing in front of me looking down at me with pity. I just stared at my knees, everyone was either scared or hated me, even Brett. Hearing my thoughts, Seraph kneeled next to me cradling my head to his chest, as silent tears fell from my frozen eyes.
After what felt like hours but was probably only about 15 minutes I stood up, Seraph watching me carefully as he stood with me.
“I think they’re right Seraph. I’m dangerous. Them being around me will get them killed, it’ll be like New York all over again. I need to leave while they still hate me.”
“Whatever keeps you safe, Reign. That’s my priority.” Seraph looked at me.
“We leave now.”
As Seraph continued to fill our black van with the last of my belongings. I sat on my bike thinking about the pack but mostly Brett. I convinced myself that leaving was for the best, they were all in potential danger around me.
And amidst my thoughts there was a flash of black smoke as there was the woman with the scar and long black hair like me.
“Eve.”
“Ah, my Aiko.”
“What are you up to now, aunty Eve?”
“I’m just giving you a warning, I want to get to your mother but what better way than to get to her through you. But Of course then wheres the fun in just that? Those beta wolves really are so adorable but too bad big, old alpha doesn’t trust you.”
“Don’t you dare touch them!”
“Oh ho look who’s getting all worked up. It like Jonathan all over again, so sweet.”
“How dare you say his name!” Seraph had to step in front of me to make sure I didn’t run at her.
“What are you doing here Eve?” Seraph said glaring at her.
“I’m here to destroy you, Reign. The Aiko.”
After that all I remember was Seraph falling paralysed in front of me as Eve threw a purple lighting bolt dagger through my chest. And after that waking up in someone arms as they walked towards a tree stump that was surrounded by hundreds of dead bodies. I weakly looked up to see Deputy Parrish and as he looked down at me,
“Don’t worry Reign, you’ll be okay. I remember you, the Hellhound in me was the one your parents had given you as a child.”
And then i felt him putting me down on something hard and then the blue and white fire engulfed me around the tree stump, which I knew then was a Nemeton. I knew what I had to do then.
3rd POV
Seraph had finally got up from the paralysis and knew he had to find the rest of the pack to find you. Although he was literally on you most of your life but in human form he couldn’t find you alone. He went to the one place he could and that was to Scott who was incidentally with most of the others at the animal clinic.
“How is she?” Liam asked as everyone else looked on worried too.
“She’s actually perfectly fine, just needs sleep. She doesn’t have any wounds. All the hits must’ve been extremely precise not to actually hurt her, its like they were all done on purpose. She’ll be up and walking perfectly in less than half an hour, she’s literally just tired.”
“It was Reign.” Scott said, leaning onto the metal table with his arms.
“Reign? The half demon half angel girl?”
“Yes, her.”
“Well you guys are lucky it was her, she made sure Hayden wasn’t actually hurt.”
At that no one had anything to say considering they all pretty much just treated her like she were some dangerous animal.
As Deaton walked out Hayden sat up groaning.
“Hey, hey you need to rest.” Liam worried.
“No I feel fine, I’m just tired... I made a mistake.”
“What are you talking about Hayden.”
“Reign absorbed my energy, she was tiring me out. I didn’t feel any pain, because every time she hit me it wasn’t just my energy but she was absorbing my pain. She didn’t hurt me at all.”
“Then why’d she keep encouraging you?”
“I don’t know, but most likely she knew I needed the rage out of my system so I could figure things out. She was beating herself, just so I could.”
And as Hayden said that Seraph rushed into the room.
“Who are you?” Stiles said.
“The snake you were all afraid of being fed to.”
Ayeayeayeeeeeee a little angsty but wo doesn’t love some angst. heh
Next chapter will be up right after. :D
