Crystal Snow (Seokjin ver.) - Snow White
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jin x OC Genre: Romance, encounters with beautiful idols, impromptu dates, Christmas kisses--no mistletoe necessary, koi no yokan, love and its possibilities Words: 4788 Summary: Being stuck in Narita International Airport leads to a magical Christmas Eve with Kim Seokjin. And maybe, possibly, hopefully, something more in the future.
Crystal Snow (Christmas with hyung line) Seokjin ver. | Yoongi ver. | Hoseok ver. | Namjoon ver.
(2017 December 24)
"What do you mean overbooked?" Saren cried.
The female ground staff member bowed at her. "It means the tickets sold exceeded the capacity of the--"
"I know what it means in literal terms," she retorted icily. She gestured at the empty rows of seats at the all-but deserted departures area. "I'm saying how you could do this when it's Christmas Eve."
"I'm sorry, Miss."
"If you're sorry, you'll get me on that plane," Saren demanded, but it came out more like a plea. She could feel the tears welling up, but held it in by glaring.
"I'm sorry, I can't do that..." the staffer apologized.
Saren felt sorry for the poor girl, who was obviously new at the job and had yet to cultivate the snootiness of a typical airline staffer, but she felt even sorrier for herself. "I have somewhere to be!" she yelled.
"So does everyone else on that plane," a man's voice interjected.
Saren rounded at the busybody, but was stunned into silence. He towered over her and was exceptionally good-looking. And rather familiar. Kim Seokjin! The burly bodyguard standing a few feet away was all the confirmation she needed that this sparkling young man was indeed a celebrity, and a part of a group she liked at that. It was only when she gasped that she realized that she had held her breath in awe. Stifling the urge to run away in her mortification, she tilted her chin up and raised an eyebrow at him. "I don't care about them! It's important that I get out of here!"
"Well if it's so important, you should've arrived earlier..." the staffer mumbled.
"What was that? I was working--doing my actual job!" she cried, in a tone that very much conveyed that she thought the other woman wasn't doing a good job of hers, and immediately regretted it.
"Listen, it's not her fault they replaced the aircraft at last minute, and it's not the fault of the engineers either, there was a safety issue. Taking your anger isn't part of her job description." Seokjin rebuked, making her feel ten times worse. "You yelling at this lovely lady isn't going to make anything better--it's not even making you feel better." He smiled then at the lovely staffer, who smiled back at him in delight. Fantastic, I run into the most prince-like idol in the world, and it's because he came to the rescue of this nice damsel that I really shouldn't be throwing my frustrations at.
"What do you know?" Saren snapped, hiding her remorse. But she did turn around and flounce away.
Behind her, the staffer called in a patronizing voice: "Have a good day, princess."
She could hear Seokjin and the staffer talking--flirting--and the other woman saying she was used to snooty young misses making impossible demands, him saying she was a fine young lady herself and shouldn't take the words of a spoiled brat ice princess to heart. Sulking, Saren tuned them out and pressed call on her phone.
***
Seokjin continued chatting with the staffer for a few minutes, thanking her as she gushed about the upcoming movie he filmed with a top actress, Mirai. He took a photograph with her and they made plans to meet after her shift, since he would most likely still be stuck in the airport by then. He started to head for the business lounge, but he spied the difficult customer from earlier, huddled in a corner of the departures area. The way she carried herself moments ago had made her seem taller than she actually was, but now she looked positively tiny. And in utter distress. Despite himself, he walked towards her.
"Yeah, I'm stuck here, I don't think I'll be able to get there in time... I'm sorry," she said into her phone, her small voice a striking contrast from the cold, haughty tone she had been using. "I miss you, you know? I'm still waiting for another flight. Of course, I'll see you there! Alright... byeeee!" She made kissing noises then ended the call.
"Your boyfriend?" Seokjin asked, belatedly realizing how creepy it must be for a small woman to suddenly hear a man's voice over her head, when she shrieked.
"Kyaaaaa!" She whirled around with her little fists raised; when she saw him, she sighed in both relief and exasperation, and shook her head. "No, that was my best friend."
"So... your husband?" he prodded, not wanting any misunderstandings.
"No, that was a girl," she pointed out.
"Your girlfriend then...?"
"Yes--no--not in that sense." She had relaxed then, and clasped the elbow of her other arm as she leaned against the wall to look up at him with more ease. "She's a girl, who's also my friend, actually the best one I have."
"Ah... I guess no man yet is lucky enough to have you do whatever it takes to follow them to the other side of the world," he quipped.
"Lucky enough to have a spoiled brat ice princess chase after him?" She raised an eyebrow at him, making it clear that she had heard his less-than-flattering description of her earlier.
Instead of showing chagrin, he simply acknowledged it with a laugh. "You've got to admit, you were acting rather like a brat."
At his words, she stood straight and tensed; he almost visibly saw her defenses go up again, concealing her momentary vulnerability. So he told her in a gentle voice: "I'm sorry, that was overly familiar of me... we haven't even been introduced. I'm Kim Seokjin." He held out a hand, both in introduction and as a conciliatory token.
Wary, she clasped his hand for but a moment, yet responded in kind. "Sakurazura Saren. I know who you are... I don't live under a rock. If not for your group's songs, I'd know you for your movie... a lot of people are looking forward to it."
"I'm honored," he said, sincerely. "Why were you so insistent on going on that flight, Saren?"
"It's just... I really need to go," she whispered.
"Hyejoon," he pointed at the staffer, "told me the situation. You even booked this flight to Seoul for the connecting flight, because you couldn't get a direct flight. Why is it so urgent for you to get to Madrid?"
"If I had left on my original flight, even with the connection, I would've been in Madrid by noon today, and if I had taken the train, I'd be in Seville by now, and I'd still have time to cook a simple Christmas dinner... But I got stuck at work." she explained. "I wasn't even supposed to come in yesterday, but I ended up coming in today too. And now..."
"And your best friend is waiting for you in Seville," he finished.
"Yes. Alone. On Christmas Eve. Oh, who am I kidding?" She sighed. "She'll be fine. She always is. Even if she seems to be too cool, she's the type to find connections anywhere she goes. I'm sure she's having an awesome time by now. It's me... I'm the one who's alone."
She looked so forlorn, that in an effort to lighten the conversation, he bantered: "Don't women usually spend Christmas Eve with their boyfriends instead of their best friends?"
"If they have boyfriends," she snickered--Seokjin would've inwardly beaten up himself for putting his foot in his mouth, if it weren't for her good humor. "Which... we never do. Not her at this season. And me... well, regardless of the season is more like it."
"I can't imagine that many men could pass a princess's standards." He backpedaled when she gave him a withering look. "What--too much?"
"Too much, but thank you just the same," she said. "Anyway, we end up spending it together, because her family is far away and mine is--well, we just end up spending it together." Biting her lip, she looked up at him with wide, clear eyes.
Seokjin couldn't help but feel concern for her, this woman who was like a kitten trying to keep a fierce face but was just a lost puppy inside. "Well, better a best friend than some dumb boyfriend, right?"
As she smiled, a dimple flashed upon her cheek, disappearing too fast that Seokjin could feel an unreasonably intense determination to make her smile again rise in his chest. "If it makes you feel any better, I'm stuck here too."
"Yeah... how did that happen?"
"Well, that overbooked flight to Seoul, I was supposed to be there too. I had a schedule with the youngest members of my group, and it ran late. There were only a few seats by the time we arrived. It made sense to let them go ahead with a couple of guards... Everyone else from the company went back to the hotel to wait this out, but hyung and I need to follow soon so we're waiting." Several paces away, the bodyguard loomed silently but nodded.
"That was generous of you, " she commented. "As their elder, you could've demanded the seat."
"As their elder, I wanted to take care of them," he clarified. "They're just big kids, so they're still excited about going home for Christmas." He noticed she was fixated on him, her entire demeanor suffused with tenderness. "What, did that touch you so much? Just now you were thinking, how sweet and kind-hearted of this man, to look out for the younger members that way, weren't you?"
Her cheeks flushed pink, confirming his assumptions, and she attempted to cover her bashfulness by turning her gaze stern. "If I did, the moment has passed."
He resisted the urge to continue teasing her, deciding not to push his luck. "Anyway, Christmas gets less exciting as you get older, so I'm letting the kids have this one."
"That's true," she agreed. "But you can still make it fun for yourself."
"Is that so? What do you usually do for Christmas Eve, then?"
"I usually start cooking the night before, so I can just heat up the food… chicken is the best main course for Christmas, so I usually make honey-garlic chicken. My best friend gets the cake--strawberry shortcake--and we have an early dinner, so we can go to this park..." She was practically bouncing on her toes in excitement. "You see, there's a lot of Christmas light installations around Tokyo, but this park... the trees shine gold, illuminating the roads in warmth... then there are fireworks--hundreds of them! Red comets and blue stars; yellow chrysanthemums and pink peonies, green willows and white palms and dazzling falling leaves..."
Seokjin watched her speak; her face glowed as if by that very same light and he was almost certain that the fireworks were reflected in her eyes. "That sounds amazing. I wish I could see it."
"You should!" she enthused. "It's sunset. If we leave now, we'll be there at the perfect time to enjoy the park."
To Seokjin's surprise, she grabbed his hand. It was only when he looked down at their clasped hands that she seemed to realize what she had done. She attempted to pull away, but he held fast and tugged her hand--and her--closer. "Let's go."
"Really?" Shock, hope, and apprehension all fleeted across her face. She glanced at the imposing bodyguard standing not three feet away.
"Really... right, hyung?" He grinned at the other man.
The bodyguard only shrugged his bulky shoulders, and gruffed: "It's not like I could stop you."
"Hyejoon!" He raised his hand and the ground staff member from earlier approached them. "I'll go ahead after all."
"Wait... did you make plans with her?" Saren snatched her hand away from him and started to leave. "If you did, you should go--"
"No, princess," Hyejoon said, but it sounded like a friendly nickname this time. She grasped Saren's wrist to stop her. "Me and some of the other ground staff were thinking of chancing on a flight to Shanghai. And based on the seat availability, we can go. I think... Seokjin-oppa should take you to wherever it is you're planning to go. Get out of here for a while." She handed them a couple of passes. "For the express train." Seokjin's bodyguard coughed pointedly, and she handed him a pass too. "And you too, bodyguard sir."
Saren started to say something, but Seokjin drew her to his side with an arm on her shoulder and told Hyejoon: "Have fun!"
"You too, oppa, princess." Hyejoon gave them her best customer service bow, then returned to her post.
Seokjin started preparing, grabbing his coat and carry-on. "Come on where's your luggage? Let's have hyung send these to baggage storage." He grabbed the pink suitcase and hatbox she pointed at, and deposited the baggage to his bodyguard's care. Seokjin shook out the white coat that had been hanging on her suitcase, but as he made to put it on her, he was confronted with a pouting Saren, her arms crossed over her chest.
"Well, she was certainly very sweet on you." She tried--and failed--to sound nonchalant about it.
Grinning, Seokjin wrapped the coat around her shoulders. "Not at all. She was being sweet to you."
"I don't think so…" she disagreed, but cooperated and slipped her arms into the sleeves.
"Yes, that's what it was. She felt bad that you got stuck here."
"I could've sworn she did that for her oppa." She stressed the last word, eyes narrowed as she looked at him over her shoulder.
"What's with that glare?" he scoffed. "I am an oppa to her. It's only right."
She sniffed. "Guys like you are the worst."
"Guys like me?" He repeated. His tone switched back to teasing. "By that, do you mean handsome or charming or magnetic?"
"All of the above..." she muttered under her breath, looking away and forward.
Staring at the back of her head, he nearly reached over to pat it, but put down his hand. He didn't want to treat her like a child--nor thought of her as one. "You're not used to being so honest, are you?"
"Because even when you're honest with them--especially when you're honest with them--people can disappoint you. But that's hardly surprising."
"So you'd rather hide behind that ice princess facade then?" he questioned. "People can also surprise you... if you'd give them a chance."
"I guess that's true," she admitted, so quietly he wasn't sure he heard it.
Seokjin stepped around so he was in front of her and offered his hand. "Are you ready for more surprises then?"
She took it.
***
Saren would've thought riding the trains with a too-beautiful man who was essentially a stranger would be awkward, but Seokjin was so amiable and winsome that she found herself more and more comfortable in his company with each passing minute. By the time they reached the park, she dropped all pretense of indifference and squealed with delight.
Standing at the end of a pathway lined with shining trees, she snapped a photo with her phone.
"Is this for Instagram?" Seokjin mocked playfully.
"Yeah, but for a friend to see."
"The one in Seville?"
"Nope! This one is... Kind of a digital pen pal. She lives waaaaay south, so she can only dream of a white Christmas, but... snow melts fast in Tokyo, so I can't show her how that looks. At least I can show her a pretty picture." She skipped down the lane, beckoning him to follow. "Let's go!"
"These are ginkgo trees." She waved a hand at the luminous trees. "They rain gold in autumn days, but blaze gold in winter nights."
"Beautiful," Seokjin observed.
"Yes..." she murmured, entranced by how his profile was illuminated by the light. He turned, catching her staring, and smiled knowingly. To mask how flustered she was, she pointed at a lit structure at the end of the pathway. "Look at that fountain, isn't it pretty?" She started to escape, but she felt him catch her hand--twirling her as if in a dance--and then she was pressed against his chest. She stared up at him, blushing and blinking and even more flustered.
"We have to wait for hyung," he chided mildly.
"Ah, um, of course," she stammered. "Where is he, anyway?"
"I'm back." The deep, rumbling voice behind her made her squeak and hide against Seokjin's chest. She felt his laughter thrum against her heated cheek.
"Good job, hyung." Seokjin took a couple of steaming bags of takeout from him, but Saren could tell that wasn't what the compliment was for. "Thanks. This one is for you, Saren."
"Oh, thank you." She bowed at the bodyguard as well, who grunted, but in a far less rough tone. "What's this?"
"Chicken burgers and strawberry waffles," Seokjin replied sheepishly. "I know that's hardly proper Christmas food, but you mentioned you always had honey-roasted chicken and strawberry shortcake for Christmas, and this has honey mustard dressing and at least the crepe has strawberries and..." He was almost wincing when she took a bite. "Well?"
"It's good," she smiled, less for the food and more for the way he showed such concern for her opinion.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked.
She shook her head. "I'm just... surprised."
"Oh? I'm glad," he said, biting his own burger.
As they continued walking, Saren was now able to tear her gaze from the dazzling decorations to notice how many people were not only staring at her tall and handsome companion, but also at his imposing human shadow. "I'm not even the one they're staring at and I feel uncomfortable, how do you deal with this?"
"I've been handsome my whole life after all." Smirking, he threw an arm around her and took their selfie with his phone. He showed her the result--he did look picture-perfect. "I'm used to it."
She rolled her eyes, but was unable to refute his words that rang with truth.
"But if it makes you so uncomfortable... " he stage-whispered and glanced over his shoulder at his bodyguard, "we can run away."
She wagged a finger close at his face. "Kim Seokjin, that's such a cliché. Besides, I don't want to be responsible if something happens to you."
"Who said anything about you being responsible for me? I'll take responsibility of you." he declared so loudly, she was sure the entire park heard.
Flushed again, she winced at him. "You're seriously... so embarrassing, you know that?"
"I know well enough, my fellow members tell me so all the time." He blew her a kiss. "But isn't it only because I'm heart-flutteringly flustering?"
"Please." She almost fanned herself with a hand, but caught herself in time and willed herself to ignore the warmth that chased away the chill on her skin. "It's December and yet I--"
"You're all warm and tingly because of me? How cute, you turn pink at the slightest provocation." He laughed when she started walking faster, and he caught up easily. "Were my words too much for you to handle?"
"No! We have to hurry, the fireworks are about to start." she insisted.
Of course she only said that to have a reprieve from his nonstop teasing, and they spent more than thirty minutes sitting on a bench, finishing their food and continuing the conversation that had started on the train. Saren talked about how she spent most of her free time at home, cooking or playing video games, if not at bookstores or going out with her best friend. Seokjin must've had 10000% more interesting experiences in his daily life as a top idol, but still he listened to her and asked questions and commiserated with how she spent her free time. And rather than talk about all the excitement of stardom, he talked to her about his pets, the games and recipes he recently tried, and life with his fellow members in one apartment. They sounded more like brothers than colleagues, and Saren cooed when he described how the youngest member, Jungkook, would sometimes squeeze in bed with him, like an actual baby.
She clutched at her heart. "He's adorable."
He scowled at her. "Yah, don't call another man adorable when Kim Seokjin is right in front of you."
"I wouldn't call you adorable," she said.
He pouted, further emphasizing his plump lips. "Why not?"
"You're too enticing for that..." she found herself admitting.
The childish act dropped and his eyes shifted as he focused on her, sending a shiver up her spine even as she grew uncomfortably warm. Luckily, the first tell-tale pops signaled the start of the fireworks show, and she clasped her hands together when red and green blossoms, and starry silvery trails filled the sky.
"Red comets and blue stars; yellow chrysanthemums and pink peonies, green willows and white palms and dazzling falling leaves..." Seokjin recited. "So this is the sparkling sight of your most cherished Christmases?"
"Yes, this sight that exists for but a moment, a special moment to share with a special person," she murmured. "It's so, so beautiful."
"So are you," he said.
She swiveled her head towards him, about to roll her eyes at his overt flirtatiousness, but instead of a cocky grin, he gazed at her with a soft smile. She straightened in her seat, back rigid and hands clasped on her knees. Her mind drew a blank as she tried to think of some comeback, so she kept silent.
"You're pretty... as pretty as Snow White, or any other princess," he continued. "And behind those cold walls you've put up, instead of an icy heart is one soft and pure like snow, and as fragile." He chuckled when she adjusted her coat tighter around herself. "You're surprised again, because I've seen how you truly are."
"I'm not... like that..." she objected.
"You've hidden it from everyone, even from yourself," he supposed. "But you can be honest with me."
The sky erupted with the final burst of fireworks, brilliant as a thousand falling stars but she could only stare at him. He leaned closer and she held her breath at the unbelievable possibility that he would kiss her.
"Seokjin."
Saren sprang away from Seokjin and glanced at the bodyguard guiltily, but he didn't even look at her, and said: "There's one ticket for Seoul. The company's buying it for you."
Heart caught in her throat, Saren watched helplessly as he nodded and said: "Thanks, hyung. I'll forward the details." He tapped his phone for a few seconds, then stowed it away. "We should go back to the airport."
"Yeah... of course..."
***
They stood before the row of check-in counters, facing each other. Saren looked up at him, and with a forced flippant manner, said: "Well, this is goodbye, Kim Seokjin."
"No. This is goodbye, Sakurazura Saren." He handed her a ticket and then another. "This will take you to Seoul. And this will take you to Madrid." He nodded at the bodyguard, who pushed her luggage right beside her.
"Huh?" She blinked at him.
"Christmas Eve may be almost over, but at least you'll have Christmas Day with your best friend."
She gawked at him, then the tickets, then back at him. "Seokjin... if you take this flight, it'll practically still be Christmas Eve when you reach Seoul. Well, very early morning is still kind of midnight, and your fellow members would still want to celebrate with you for sure..."
He shrugged. "It's fine. I'm sure they're asleep by now, we have a show tomorrow night so they need rest."
She pushed the tickets at him. "Then all the more that you should take this--"
"Saren." He grasped her hands, tightening them around the tickets. "Please take it. I want to do this for you."
She shuddered for breath, heart aching, and her eyes filled with tears, but she smiled. "Thank you."
"Go." he requested.
Her eyes strayed upon his lips as she stared at him and it took some moments for her to compose herself and nod. "Goodbye."
She took a few steps, paused, then spun back around. "You know you said, I should try to be more honest so--"
She drew close, but before she could reach for him, he cradled her face in his hands and kissed her. Her lips parted slightly in surprise, but rather than take the chance to deepen the kiss, he brushed a few feather light kisses on the corner of her mouth, her cheek, and just beside her ear. He whispered: "Of all the things that happened tonight, this should've surprised you the least."
She gaped as he pulled away. "Seokjin, why...?"
"Why? Because I wanted to kiss you as much as you wanted to kiss me. Still want to kiss you." He leaned down slowly, and this time she stood on her tiptoes to meet his kiss, clutching on his shoulders for balance. When they parted, she could feel her face hot and flushed, but she couldn't help but giggle. He chucked as well, and said: "Check the back of your Seoul-bound ticket."
The world still seemed pink and hazy, tinted by his tender kisses, but she could make out a February date, time and what looked like a flight code.
"I'll be flying back here several times before then, but those days will be too busy and that time... I'll be staying for Valentine's day," he explained. "If you have the time, maybe you could...?"
"Maybe," she said, with definite agreement. This wasn’t love--not yet--but it was a possibility.
"See you then." He gave her a small salute.
She waved at him and headed for the counter, texting on her phone: "I'm on my way... and I have the most incredible story to tell you."
***
(2018 February 13)
If Saren had any doubts that she was at the wrong place and time, they were dispelled by the throngs of excited fans at one section of the arrivals area, holding up signs dedicated to Seokjin and the youngest members. "Look at all these cute girls," she murmured, self-consciously patting her hair and adjusting the jeweled headband that held it in place. "Would he even remember...?"
She was of half a mind to leave, but before she could make a move, she felt someone seize her arm and she jerked in alarm. "Princess!" Hyejoon squealed at her. The younger woman looked fresh and polished in her uniform, though she wore glittery dangling crystal earrings shaped like hearts that Saren was sure wasn't regulation-approved. "Have you forgotten me?"
Saren relaxed, but immediately started tugging at her blush pink lace dress, second-guessing her choice of clothing. "Hyejoon. Of course I haven't forgotten. What are you doing here?"
"I work here after all." Hyejoon winked. "My shift is just starting. Hey, I heard that Seokjin-oppa and a few other members will be here for promotions, and he's here to promote his movie. Too bad Hoseok won't be here... Ah!" She gasped and grinned, grabbing Saren with both shoulders this time. "That's why you're here, aren't you?"
"I mean, I..." Saren stuttered, hesitating to admit it, but unwilling to lie. "Um..." Cheers from the fans saved her from making up an answer and she saw four tall young men emerge from a gate. Even the air around them seemed to sparkle, and Kim Seokjin, who led the way, shone the brightest in her eyes.
She felt Hyejoon shake her. "Seokjin-oppa's here! Princess, go say hi!"
Frozen in place, Saren could only watch him stride confidently and greet their fans, as if the whole world were his runway. Just before she could pluck up enough courage to approach, a vision in white fluttered right past her, and she felt her feet turn leaden.
"Mirai!" Hyejoon shrieked. "Ohmigod, ohmigod, ohmigod--it's Mirai! She's so pretty!"
Saren watched with mounting dread as the beautiful actress, looking ethereal in a white dress overlaid with the finest Chantilly lace, swanned closer to Seokjin. Mirai stopped right in front of him and threw her arms around his neck, in an intimate embrace. Saren's breath left her in one sharp gasp.
"So the rumors were true?" Hyejoon guessed, tilting her head thoughtfully at the sight of Seokjin and Mirai whispering to each other in hushed tones. "They'd be one perfect couple after all."
And much as Saren wanted to protest, she couldn't help but agree. "Why an ice princess when such a perfect princess exists?"
"Huh?" Hyejoon was still transfixed upon the movie-perfect couple. "Of course, we don't know if this is just to promote their movie, you could never tell with idols. They live such different lives from us ordinary people, don't they? Seokjin-oppa did ask to meet you. Didn't he? Princess? Miss Saren!"
Saren could hear Hyejoon looking for her, but she had slipped between the thickening crowd of people that had gathered to gawk at Seokjin and Mirai. "This is why you shouldn't be honest with your feelings," she mused to herself. A dreamy prince, a sweet look, a nice gesture, a breathtaking kiss, and a single night, and you feel like you're someone special. But you're just one snowflake in an endless flurry, and Seokjin... well, he's priceless crystal, after all. What were you thinking would happen?
Heavy with disappointment, she wrapped herself in her snow white coat and walked out of the airport. Icy walls rose again, to insulate a heart of melting snow.
***
Seokjin had paraded into the airport, meaning to exude charisma, with the hope that he would see her in the waiting crowd. Then he would take her hand as he had before...
But she hadn't been there and Mirai had showed up, unannounced. Before he could react, his co-star had hugged him. Despite the show of intimacy, she whispered: "Our companies have an agreement. They decided we should extend our romance to outside the screen. Wholly for the public, of course." She released him from the embrace, but didn't step away.
He frowned at her. "What? I-I can't--"
She shook her head slightly, but simpered at him coquettishly for the crowd. "They did say you weren't the type to agree to this. But you have to. It will be good for both of us."
"You don't understand... I, I was supposed to meet someone..." He glanced away, distracted by a glimmer of petal-soft pink, like the shade of blushing cheeks, but it was lost in the crowds and he still couldn't find who he was looking for. He did see Hyejoon wave at him, and he waved back.
Looking over her shoulder, Mirai raised her eyebrow at Hyejoon. "Oh really? Is that her?"
"No!" he sighed, frustrated. "Listen, it was an honor to work with you, but this isn't something that we should toy with--"
She tinkled with laughter, and tapped his nose with a finger. "You're so innocent for an adult man. Don't you worry, I'll take care of explaining to your girlfriend so you don't get in trouble."
Seokjin looked around the airport again, his worry increasing. Still, she was nowhere in the crowd, and Seokjin could only limply follow Mirai when she linked their arms and led with through the adoring crowd.
Where are you? Did I lose you in the largest city in the world, like a single snowflake melting into the slush?
I really want to see you again... but how?
