well, this is my big dwaxi fic. by far, this is my wip who's almost completed and it goes through their history: how they met, dwight slowly falling in love with maxi, the yearning and finally, them being a couple. in this fic, i also explore their friendship with jalen and how he's the one to help them to confess their feelings for each other.

the title is inspired by harry styles' song, with the same name as the fic, and how they always seem to orbit around each other at all times because if you see maxi, you see dwight right next to him and i actually love this song (it's my favourite from Harry's House) so it fits them very well.

so here's my favourite snippets from the fic:

1. this is at the start of the fic and dwight gets nervous about the new guy so he decides to google who this player may be:

“I need you to meet me and Dirk here tomorrow, at 10. I need your help with something”, Rick says with his hands behind him as he slightly balances on his feet and as soon as he finishes his sentence, he leaves. He doesn’t wait for an “okay” or “I can’t come because I have stuff to do” — which would be a lie because Dwight doesn’t — so Dwight just mutters a “yep, gotcha” and gets into his car. During the drive home, he remembers what Doe said earlier. So the German guy isn’t just a rumor. He drives a bit faster than he’s used to and gets home. He needs to see who this guy is. After a few searches like “basketball players from Germany”, “Wurzburg basketball” and all variations of that he could think of, he finds him. Or potential him. Maxi Kleber. He’s the same age as Dwight and plays for Bayern Munchen. He’s cute, Dwight thinks as he sees his pictures on Google. And then, he plays a video in which he’s talking on the phone. He thought it was a nice idea, to get the players to do this type of content and be closer to their fans. After the automatic translation captions are on, he pays attention to Maxi. How he speaks, how well German flows out of his mouth and how Dwight’s stomach flips when he laughs. Shit, I hope this doesn’t turn into something else, he thinks as he closes the YouTube app.

2. baby boy has a crush and it's getting into his dreams

He already had a dozen dreams with Maxi — most of them were a flash: Maxi grabbing his hand while walking, Dwight rubbing Maxi's beard while sitting on the couch together — but the last one was more detailed. Like every single time, they were walking next to each other to their cars parked at AAC. Maxi always parked on the left and Dwight right next to him. This time, Dwight grabbed his key to get into his car and Maxi, out of the blue, turned him around and kissed him. A full one, one hand in the nape of his neck and the other on his lower back, pulling him even closer to his body. His beard tickled Dwight a little bit but the kiss was so good the tickles wouldn't stop him. When they were apart, Maxi gave him a little smile and said "see you tomorrow” and went to his car, leaving Dwight breathless and light headed in the middle of the parking lot. He looked around to see if anyone saw it but they were alone. Suddenly, a weird song was coming out of his car, strangely familiar with his alarm tune and when he went to open the door, he woke up.  

3. and lastly, a jalen appearance:

As the season goes on, Dwight finds a friend in Jalen. He still isn't safe to come out to everyone, but if he had to choose someone right now, it'd be Jalen. He thinks he knows already because every single time Rick says “team up for 1-on-1 practice”, Jalen glances at him and says “Maxi, Dwight!” And finds someone else to train with. One day, Jalen said he could use “Dwight's Dallas knowledge” to take him out and said “why don't you take Maxi with us?” in a very suggestive tone. Dwight couldn't even talk back when Maxi popped up and said “It'd be a delight”.

i have 12 pages of this so it'll be a longfic... i call it the dwaxi wikipedia or the dwaxi bible so i'm really looking forward to end this one 🤍
