my attempt at sorting through the kakashi timeline. (i now realize my other post had a small mistake)

5: enters the academy along with everyone else. matriculation is more like the official enrollment into attending an academy/university rather than yearly orientation. seems we can assume this was the point that the students were first accepted into the academy

later at 5: graduates the academy and becomes known as a prodigy

6: becomes a chunin all while the rest of his generation are still in the academy

7/8: sakumo dies

9: is put on team minato with genin his age. meets obito and rin (also 9) but theyve just freshly graduated the academy. im not actually sure if 9 is the graduation age cause i dont have confirmation panels but thats what ive heard. its kinda irrelevant anyways i guess as long as its before the chunin exams.

…11/12..? (look to obitos age below for a more accurate estimate): takes chunin exams with team 7. now THIS is where the issue is. that stupid fucking panel of him holding up his chunin paper that shows after he beats guy. i originally mistook this for a flashback to him becoming chunin before realizing what the order of the panels was suggesting so thats the mistake. there are a couple ways to fix this

1. pretend it was a reinstation for whatever reason.

ideas:

- because he was made chunin super young and the rank needed a renewal due to his young age at the time

- he didnt actually take the exams at 6 since he didnt have an official team and was given the rank based on skill so it was kinda unofficial and this was his official exam

- he needed to get reinstated because he had a new team and the exams were supposed to in part measure the teams compatibility

- something else thats better thought out than my ideas

2. pretend that panel doesnt exist 👌

3. some other excuse

basically directly addressing this panel instead of deaging him fucks less with the timeline and portrayals and should fix the inconsistency as well. i mostly see people headcanon the age difference as 2-5 years but if were going with this, the age difference should be roughly 5-7 years- obito was 12/13 when he got crushed and had just become a chunin because in that same scene, rin whispers to him about meeting up and that meet up is to discuss kakashis present for becoming jonin. they give kakashi his gifts on the way to the bridge. chunin exams are held biannually during fall and spring. he got whooped by guy in the 1 on 1s and promptly failed in what we can assume was fall.

hes shown training during winter and retakes the exam in the spring so less than a year passes in between obito failing and becoming chunin (those are flower buds btw. i thought they were leaves but theyre not). if obito was 12/13 when he got smooshed, he was 11/12 at absolute minimum when he failed and kakashi became chunin (6)

and that age difference of 5-7years makes no sense because hes taller than rin and the same height and age appearance wise as the rest of his grade. if that really was their age difference, kakashi would look a LOT younger during orientation. as crazy as his chunin at age 6 feat is, its very difficult for me to suspend my belief and imagine him enrolling in the academy at 0 to -2 years old. it would also make rin pretty creepy and as confrontational as obito is, i feel like he would not beg to be rivals with someone 5-7 years younger than him. that would hurt his pride too much

12/13: becomes jonin when obito becomes chunin. kannabi bridge mission. chaos ensues

i only really looked into the info from chapter 599 and 240 and whatever else i linked so if there are any other relevant timeline drops that totally breaks my case then ive totally missed them so lmk

i don't see him as a heavy drinker, btw. he indulges socially or if he's really upset. but he isn't inclined to drink a beer over a soda, for example.

i think he'd be a little concerned tbh - like, are my hands shaky? or weak? am i feeling ok? ( i usually actively want to peel my own oranges, because my sensory needs are very specific when it comes to fruit ) but he would definitely do it! and he'd make it as clean as possible, peeling off all the white bits and stingy parts, since he knows it's hard for me to have inconsistent textures in my mouth ♡♡

he loovves the big light lolol i think he likes a room to be as brightly lit as possible. "what's the use of a room you can't see everything in?" type of thinking. he would have the big light and all the lamps on in a room at once ... if he didn't have to worry about the electrical bill, that is.

( honestly i suspect having light shining on everything helps him see, since he's vision impaired and has to decipher everything through a very red color filter. but he doesn't want to admit it. )

🍏 - if you have any queer headcanons for your f/o, how did they realize they were queer?

i headcanon him as a bisexual trans man!

i think he knew he was a boy from a very early age, but didn't put it into words until professor xavier took him in. and of course, xavier was extremely supportive. i see him transitioning pretty fast and early on. like, it wasn't even a big discussion? he was very certain of it all.

being bisexual came on slower for him, i think. maybe mostly because he didn't realize it was odd to find your male friends so handsome? of course he was head over heels in love with jean right from the start. but honestly i think he would get crushes on boys at school pretty easily and frequently ( sliding in that i also headcanon him as very polyamorous lmao ) maybe he was talking to bobby about how being gay feels? and he realized "ah. i also feel this way... hmm."

🥥 - what hobbies does your f/o have? is there any hobby they would like to get into that they haven't tried out yet? what is it?

one of my favorite things about scott is that he has to be very careful in picking hobbies, because he becomes obsessive so quickly and easily. he once played horseshoes for 27 hours and only stopped because bobby pulled the stake out of the ground. me n scott share so many diagnoses honestly . . .

that being said, he loves puzzles of all kinds! jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, logic puzzles, number puzzles... anything that can stump him for a while! things that are intentionally time consuming.

he also likes board games, billiards, and things that are strategic and competitive at the same time. he likes to show off. and win things.

🌶️ - does your f/o have any remedies they follow when they get sick? like taking a shot of whiskey to get rid of a fever?

i don't think he has any personal home remedies. honestly no one was around enough in his childhood to pass any down to him (ノдヽ) and once he settled in with xavier and the team, i don't think any of them suggest anything other than medicine. but i'm sure if anyone suggested something enthusiastically enough, he'd be willing to try it! i, for one, definitely convince him to gargle salt water anytime he has a sore throat.

🥬 - what are some beige flags your f/o has? so, not bad, but not nessecarily good either. just. "oh. you do This."

uhhh basically everything he does, lmaooo ♡♡ where do i even start. he eats cereal and soup constantly. he keeps all of his clothes and drawers meticulously organized. he used to he a radio announcer. he never deletes notes from his phone or throws away sticky notes ( he's worried he'll need them again later?? ) he's a funny lil guy, for sure . . . ♡

🍄‍🟫 - if your f/o could be any mythological species, what would they be? if your f/o is already a mythological species, would they ever want to be human?

well, most fitting would be either a giant or ( ironically ) a phoenix, i think! but as for what he would choose, hmm... tbh i think he would choose a sasquatch. he would like the idea of still having human-like intelligence, but being enough of an animal to live in nature. and he relates to the idea of cryptids being mysterious and powerful, but still hiding from hunters.

I DID MATH TO TRY TO GUESS HOW OLD ARE THE MAIN 6 AND HOW THE TIMELINE WORKS

Soooo, I already made a post explaining my toughts about Julian's and Lucio's age, and I said I wanted to make another post explaining my guesses for the rest of the cast, so here I am. (WARNING: THERE ARE SOME MINOR SPOILERS!! And this is going to be looong, so if you want to jump to the conclusions go ahead).

I recommend reading at least a part of the other post, since it has important info that I won't be explaining here, but to sum up what I think it's the most important fact: Many people believe that Lucio loosing his arm and Asra's parents being imprisioned happened 20 years ago, but I think the game gives us enough hints to know that that “roughly 20 years ago” actually means 17 or 18 years ago. So, my guesses are made having that in mind.

Please, have in mind that, since there are no canon ages, there is no way to know who is right or who is wrong, all we can do is try to guess, but I think we can all agree that the game has some inconsistencies with the timeline and that, at the end of the day, everyone can have their own headcanons, so it's okay if we disagree. And, also, english is not my first language, so I'm sorry if I wrote anything wrong!!

I'm going to start from the youngest to oldest (Asra-Portia-Muriel-Julian-Lucio-Nadia) and mark in blue the facts that are canon:

Asra

• We know he became an orphan when we has a kid. The game says it was roughly 20 years ago, I already explained on my other post why I think it's practically canon that the exact date is 17/18 years ago, so Im not going to repeat myself.

• He met Muriel 17 years ago.

• He met the apprentice 9 years ago.

• He revived them 3 years ago

• We know he had a thing with Julian before the whole revival thing. If the apprentice died 3 years ago and they were brought back from dead less than a year after, then that had to happen 3 years ago too.

• We do not know exactly how old was he when he met Muriel, but my guess is that he had to be between 6-10, maybe 11, but I would not put him as more than that because I honestly think he looks too young and too short for a 12 year old kid. It's true malnutrition could have been a problem on his growth, but he ended up being of average height and Muriel, who was also homeless, ended up being over 2 meters tall so... I do not think it really stoped them?

• This is gonna sound so dumb but I tried to calculate how tall he was when he was a kid lol (yes, I was very frustrated, yes, I needed help). I used this image they posted as a reference to see how tall they were besides each other, and my guess is that he's around 1'20 meters, which is a normal height for a kid that young, maybe a bit short but not too much (btw, I know Lucio's height is 1'77, but I added 8 cm more because he wears heels).

So, having all that in mind, I'd say Asra is between 24-28 years old. I personally can't see him as older than 28 because as I said I think he was too young on his tale, but it all depends on how you see it, of course.

According to my guess, that would mean he was 6-11 when he lost his parents (which I think it makes sense, since he as an adult is able to remember that Lucio imprisioned them, and it's pretty normal to be able to remember things from that age) 15-19 when he met the apprentice (so, it was a young love, maybe his first one, and that would explain why he was so attached), 21-25 when he had a thing with Julian (to make sure he was an adult) and that same age when the whole revival thing happened (and I personally think it makes sense that he was so young when he made shuch a desesperate decision).

Portia

•We know there is a big age gap between her and Julian:

-She can't remember the shipwreck, Julian does

-She was still a kid when Julian left to become a doctor

-She seems to remember him, but vaguely

•She started working on the palace one year ago

•Since she can't remember loosing her parents, I think it's safe to assume she was still a baby

•I honestly do not remember much from Portia's route, but if I recall correctly, there's this paid option that lets you help her remember a lost memory. I personally see her very very young, and it has to be a memory from after she lost her parents and before Julian left to become a doctor, so I'd say she was 3-5.I remember it was mentioned that in the memory Julian had a big growth spurt, so, since I like to think there is an 7-9 year gape between them, that would put him at 10-14.

I think it's an age range that makes sense, it is possible to remember things from when you were 3-5 (I personally do remember some things, mostly things that had an impact on me), and Portia had visual help to be able to remember it, so it would make sense that she had this memory hidden on her mind and then she was able to remember it correctly with help.

So, having all this in mind, I would say Portia is between 25-30 years old. Maybe you could give her an extra year, but I would not make her younger than 24 because then, if we follow my guesses, she would be younger than Asra (and it's canon that she's older) and I also think the age gap between her and Julian would be too big, and if it was, then maybe she could not remember him before he left. She had to be a kid, but not so young to not be able to remember how they played.

This would mean she was 24-28 when she started working on the palace.

Muriel

(Warning: This is goning to get long.)

I've seen some confusion about Muriel's age, mostly because it seems there are some inconsistencies about his past. I will try to make it make sense, but yeah, have that in mind please.

This man has been my hyperfixation for 2 whole years and at this point I am basically his own personal wikipedia, so I hope I do not leave anything behind, and Im sorry in advance for how long this is gonna be:

•We know he had to leave his home when he was still a kid.

•In his tale, he seems to vaguely remember how he arrived to vesuvia (so, not younger than 3 when he left?)

•He met Asra 17 years ago

•We do not know the exact age gap between him an Asra, but tbh I do not think at all than he's more than 3 years older, because in his tale he says that asra only seems “a couple years younger”, and they both seem to be on very close stages of their lifes even as kids. Muriel's just a big boy.

•We do not know how much time he worked as Lucio's gladiator, but he had to break free at least 3 years ago (since 3 years ago was when Lucio “died”).

•This is all me making theories and trying to make a guess with every tiny detail of info I remember, so take it with a grain of salt because I could be completly wrong, but I personally think that what makes more sense is that he left the Kokhuri when he was 3-7 years old. The reasons:

-I know it's pretty normal to not be able to remember much from when you were that young, and the trauma could also have made an impact on his memory, but I think he had to be very very young when he left because he's not even sure if he's from the south (in the scene where they get a room on the inn, the MC asks him how he can't be sure and he says it happened a long time ago). He does not seem to remembe his parents, his language (I am assuming the kokhuri have a different language than vesuvians) and in general he does not seem to remember his home practically at all. I personally think that if he was older than 8 it would be more strange, but maybe it's just me.

-In his tale he already says that he's starting to forget his parents, and he's still a young kid. I think that can be a hint to let us know he was really really young when he left, I think it would be weird otherwise

-I am not sure about this because maybe it could be understood in other way, but he seems to remember Lucio's voice from his nightmares? And I guess that means Lucio had to be there when the Scourage of the South attacked the Kokhuri. That, or maybe his voice appears on his nightmares just because, or he recognizes that his way of speaking is similar to other people from the South or idk. But I think it has to mean that Muriel had to be at least 3 to be able to remember Lucio's voice(even if it's vaguely and had to hear it again) or the way the people from the Scourage talked. If it's the first case, it also means that Lucio had to be there, so it had to happen before he was 18 (remember that in Lucio's tale he just became 18 and that's when he left his home). That's why I think their age gap has to be big but can't be bigger than 14, because 3+14= 17. Ok this is starting to sound dumb, right? But in my mind it makes sense, I swear

-I also think he could not be younger than 3 because he had to at least be able to walk, talk and well, try to survive on his own. I know 3 is still super young, but, I mean, if I had a vision where all my family died I would also send my 3 year old kid to live on his own lol, better having a little chance than dying my boy! And we see on his tale that the orphans work together to get food so maybe some older orphans helped him and the other younger kids until he grow ? Look, listen, some weeks ago I discovered there is a japanese show in which they film 2 year old kids going to the store and shopping on their own so it's possible! I am just trying to give the lowest age possible so we know where to start from :') and to try to make it make sense, because in his route it sometimes seems like he was practically a toddler (or directly one) when he left.

To sum up, I think he had to be around 3-7 years oldwhen he left his home so everything makes sense. It would make sense that he could remember some little things, but very vaguely and had to fill the blanks with his own guesses, it would also make sense if Lucio was there when the Scourage attacked the Kokhuris and that he recognizes his voice, it would make sense that he has trouble remembering even the most crucial things (his parents, his language...) and it would be plausible that he could survive being homeless if he at leasts knew how to walk and communicatte on his own.

•I personally can't see him older than 14 on his tale. I find it already a bit hard to believe he could be 14, because I personally think he still looks prepubescent, and tbh I think that Muriel would have been already as tall or taller than Lucio if he was older. I know malnutrition is a thing, but everyone seems impressed with his height, even Lucio, so idk his genes are just that strong I guess. Maybe his parents were over 2,15 and he's the short one of the family lol. I also think it would be a streatch if the game told us that this kid is huge and then the kid in question was 15 years old and around 1.50 meters. I'm gonna use the same images as before:

He seems to be slouching a bit, so maybe we could add 3-8 cm more. But my guess is that he was 10-12 on his tale, give or take a few years if you want, at the end of the day, it's all about you own perception.

•I think it's safe to assume that, if Lucio became count 17 or 18 years ago, that means Muriel had to leave his home approximately 20 years ago, probably a bit more, depends if you see him younger or older.

So, having all this in mind (finally!!!), I would say that Muriel is around 26-31 years old.

That would mean he was very young when he arrived to Vesuvia (and it would make sense that it happened 20 years ago or more), he met Asra when he was 9-14, he left the coliseum minimum when he was 23-28, and that his age gap with Lucio and Asra makes sense. If he was younger I think it would be more difficult to make the age gaps and his past as a gladiator plausible, and as I said before I honestly can't see him older than 14 on his tale. But again, this is all a headcanon.

Julian

I already explained Julian's age on my other post, so I won't repeat it, but my guess is taht he has to be between 33-40 (or maybe one or two years older, as long as his age gap with Portia makes sense and he's still younger than Lucio)

Lucio

I explained Lucio too. My guess is he's between 37-44. I would not put him any younger or older because then the age gaps would not make sense and neither his past.

Nadia

Im going to be short with Nadia because there are not many pieces of info and since she's the oldest one there is more freedom, because any kind of age gap would make sense.

•We know she arrived to Vesuvia 9 years ago

•She was married to Lucio for 6 years. Since Lucio has been “dead” for 3 years, that means they married 9 years ago

•She's the youngest of all her siblings. We do not know the age gap between them, but I'd say they are pretty close in age, since their parents are still alive and do not look too old, and Nadia has to be older than 37 for this to make sense. I mention this because maybe it would be plausible for Nadia to be 50, but, I mean, there has to be a limit haha.

Having all this in mind, I would say that Nadia is between 37-45~years old, but it could be a bit more. This would mean she arrived to Vesuvia and married Lucio at 28-36, she was 34-42 when Lucio “died”, and her siblings would be on their 30s, 40s or maybe 50s, which I think makes sense.

So, my conclusion is:

Asra: 24-28

Portia: 25-30

Muriel: 26-31

Julian: 33-40~

Lucio: 37-44~

Nadia: 37-45~

And if you are interested on knowing how I hc them:

Asra: 26

Portia: 27

idk the bit about Rodney being misogynistic bc he got taken advantage of by an older woman feels kinda uncomfy. like it veers too close to a justification for his misogyny. first of all, you don't have to apologize. I get harsh anons sometimes, and they don't often feel the need to explain themselves lmao. also, I love getting asks like this; they make me all thinky :)

and you're absolutely entitled to your feelings of discomfort! while we're talking about fictional characters (which are vehicles for all the nasty or complicated thoughts & feelings that would get us shunned in polite society), discourse surrounding them still reflect a lot of things outside fandom (i.e. in the 'real' world). there is still that responsibility to be careful with the beliefs and ideas we promote.

having said all that, Rodney McKay is definitely the epitome of a 'problematic fave'. while he is a protagonist in the narrative sense, some of his more obvious flaws can make him a difficult character to like (or in my case, to justify liking heh).

as for the whole backstory headcanon, I can understand why it wouldn't sit well with many people. it does seem a bit shoe-horned and, having seen the same kind of justification for other Favorite White Male Characters' terrible behavior in other fandoms, I can definitely see where you're coming from.

(btw, I can't speak for OP but I'm glad you sent this ask, so at least I'm afforded the opportunity to reclaim my honor explain myself haha)

any kind of abuse should never justify horrible actions or behavior that one has been given a chance to change or rectify. in this case, if Rodney had been a victim of an older, female sexual predator in his youth, then that still doesn't excuse his misogynistic tendencies (and outright sexist comments & actions). it can certainly explain it, though, which is what I find so compelling about the idea.

the thing about Rodney ( & Stargate + all its characters) is that he's very much a product of his time. while today's media still exhibit a lot of backward tropes and tasteless stereotyping, we've started to find more and more artists & creators who are willing to apply nuance and care to their writing / art. though I'm sure pioneer Stargate fans have made their metas and criticism of Rodney already, his flaws as a character are even more easily brought into sharp relief now because he is not the kind of character that ages well.

if you've been following me for quite some time now, you probably have an idea why I like him. it's not the easiest thing to be, a Rodney fan, but I always make it a point to not excuse any of his bad traits. however, it's also no fun if all I do is bend over backwards to justify why I enjoy his character so much, which is why (since his writing is so inconsistent and there are so many gaps to his backstory) fans like OP and I, whenever we're given the opportunity, try to come up with bits of headcanon to tie a few loose ends together.

I certainly won't fight anyone about it, and I'm very much welcome to arguments that would debunk these ideas, but I'm acknowledging it to be a pretty neat concept. do I think real people (or even fictional characters) who are as terrible with women as Rodney is must have been abused by women when they were younger? hell no. does the headcanon make some kind of sense for why he is the way he is (which, again, is more a product of bad writing than any deliberate characterization)? I think it does.

so it's really more, 'if Rodney had been sexually abused by an older woman when he was younger, then that contributed to his misogyny,' and less, "if Rodney is misogynistic, then he must have been sexually abused by an older woman when he was younger'. there's an important difference that (I'm not even gonna euphemize this because it is rampant) so many fans defending their faves often miss.

I love Rodney for all the bits that I love about him, and I try to appropriately handle all the rest that I don't. what I wouldn't give for Rodney to have had better and consistent writing (one that, while not necessarily erased, at least properly addressed his flaws). that's why I like Trinity a lot even though he messed up so much in that episode. it had been an opportunity for growth.

Hi anon! And of COURSE!!

Favorite thing about them: I love how relatable she is! Candace being overwhelmed with life and feeling stuck/discouraged and frustrated is just, a big ‘ol mood, especially as I’ve gotten older. “The Universe is Against Me” is very therapeutic to sing for those reasons! I also love the moments when she is genuinely a kind older sister, like in “Dude We’re Getting the Band Back Together” or the end of “Summer Belongs To You.” I also love her friendship with Isabella (especially in the later seasons), it’s just really sweet! Candace helping Isabella out with her crush on Phineas (or just reacting to it in a deadpan way) is so so soooo so great! (Basically big sister Candace. Yes.) Candace is also just, SO FUNNY. Both with her dialogue and physical comedy. She’s a great character. (On a personal note, I also relate to her struggle with not wanting to drive right away! I was the same way, and thinking about Candace made me feel better about my own struggles!) Also her SINGING. YES. I love Ashley Tisdale. ...Ok, now that I’ve said lots of nice things about Candace...onto the next question😅

least favorite thing about them: sometimes Candace is just, very unkind. Like, I KNOW she has her own struggles and I’d never want to invalidate those.....but she is just so MEAN to Phineas and Ferb sometimes for no real reason (particularly in earlier episodes). Like, in the Christmas special for instance, she continuously laughs off Phineas and Ferb’s desire to write letters to Santa (but then USES this idea in a scheme to figure out what gift Jeremy wants, so it’s hypocritical on her part) (EDIT: i wouldn’t change the “letters to Santa??” bit, btw, it’s pretty funny!! but it illustrates my point) and THEN puts the thought in Phineas’s head that he might be the reason all of Danville was deemed naughty, which DEVASTATES him. I think the saddest part is that, 95% of the time, Phineas and Ferb are nothing but kind to her. It makes her occasional spitefulness towards them seem so JARRING. (And again I KNOW she struggles with her own issues and feeling inferior, CATU especially made that apparent, and I get it! But that doesn’t make it okay for her to be mean to her brothers, you know?). Also scenes where she says something nice to Jeremy and then rude to her brothers...idk, it just rubs me the wrong way. (I also dislike it STRONGLY when she is condescending to Isabella. I think this only happens, like, twice...but Isabella is my fave so I’ll never forget, LOL)

Favorite line: oh MAN how do I CHOOSE??? She’s got so many iconic lines. Maybeeee: “It’s SO not fair! I mean why am I still on sock detail when Gladys from accounting got promoted to commander and she doesn’t even know hold to hold a blaster!!! No I mean, really, she failed that part of the exam three times, she held it backwards AND upside down but she’s a second cousin to some mid-level darth and so SHE gets the promotion?? What about ME??? If they would just open their eyes, they’d see that I’ve got everything it takes, I COULD BE THE STORMIEST STORM TROOPER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!” Oh i also like (in reference to lumpy tables) “it’s the new hip-thing, it’s so European!!!” And also “Though I’ve often thought of you as just a nuisance and a bother, today I can’t imagine havin’ better little brothers!”

BrOTP: Candace and Stacy, 100%!! I love them and their friendship SO much, it really feels genuine (especially as their characters develop more). Their subplot in “Canderemy” is one of my favorite Candace plot lines in the show, it’s so funny and so sweet at the end (and a welcome distraction from a certain OTHER subplot in that episode.....yes I’m still mad about the ending🙃)

OTP: CANDEREMY! I’ll be honest, when I was younger, Canderemy kind of annoyed me because Phinabella was my fave and I always got mad when Candace had better luck with love than Isabella (because Candace was mean and Isabella wasn’t and I identified with Isabella and like, I’m just trying to give y’all a picture of younger me😂). But now that Phinabella is canon and I’ve gotten older, I really, REALLY appreciate Candace and Jeremy. Candace doesn’t have to act a certain way for Jeremy to like her: he likes her just the way she is and actively DISCOURAGES her from changing her identity just to appeal to him more. That’s so refreshing and wonderful to see in media aimed at kids/teens. I love that, for the majority of the show, they’re either “talking” or in a relationship and it’s just, a healthy relationship! No multi-episode arcs about them breaking up, no love triangles, no petty arguments (sometimes the show leans into these tropes for an episode, but that’s it. And it’s always resolved). They genuinely care about one another, and I think it’s really sweet. (Plus a Canderemy wedding is RIFE with possibility for pre-relationship Phinabella moments👀)

nOTP: I don’t have any specific nOTPS for Candace, so I’ll just say I’m fine with any ship between her and someone her age (that she isn’t related to, obviously. AND THAT GOES FOR ALL MY SHIPS. I don’t want to say that on every one of these character posts so like, just know. That is where i stand.)

Random headcanon: Candace and Jeremy adopted Fred. I just think it’s a sweet headcanon 🥺. Alsooooo ok this doesn’t specifically revolve around Candace, but when she and Jeremy got married, Isabella and Phineas were both a part of the wedding party and Candace made SURE they were paired together to walk down the isle💕. And Candace continues collecting Ducky Momo memerobilia well into adulthood!

Unpopular opinion: Candace isn’t a terrible, irredeemable character.....but she’s not a purely amazing character who can do no wrong either. I feel like some fans either despise her fully or love everything about her. I’m in the middle. I see her as a flawed character who was written by numerous people and thus is somewhat inconsistent in her characterization. I like it when she is characterized as kindhearted but easily overwhelmed and longing for validation, so that is how I choose to portray her in my own writing/headcanons.

Song I associate with them: look Candace sings so many FANTASTIC songs in the show that I can’t associate her with any other music. Like I guess Ashley Tisdale’s “Kiss the Girl” because there’s fics of her singing that to Phineas and Isabella and I think that’s adorable? (I know I wrote one of those waaaaaaay back in the day, LOL). But in general, every Candace song is great. “The Universe is Against Me” ESPECIALLY.

Mapping La Sirena

Welcome one and all to the Mapping La Sirena Project!

If you are a fan of Star Trek: Picard and you would like to know more about the show’s most prominent ship, to check out floor plans and screencaps, and to discuss theories about the layout of this magnificent vessel, this is will be the place for you!

(Long, slightly rambly introduction and masterpost after the cut ;] )

Hi! My name is Lili and I’ve been a fan of pretty much all things Star Trek ever since I started watching Voyager at the tender age of 6. Besides the sometimes goofy, often brilliant storytelling and the wonderful characters, I always loved the worldbuilding of these shows - and in particularly the starships.

When Star Trek: Picard started airing a  few months ago, I was immediately drawn to the main ship, La Sirena. The mixture of the monumental physical set, judiciously used CGI, and sheer attention to detail made me fall madly in love with this little mermaid, and I wanted to find out every little thing about her that I possibly could. And since I imagine, I’m not the only one who feels this way, I decided to take you all on this journey with me!

What am I doing here?

As a reader and writer of fanfic, I know how helpful it can be to have a clear sense of the location your story is set in. When I realized that a good month after the final episode of ST:PIC season one aired, there still was no floor plan of La Sirena easily found on the web (easily = using my very limited googling-skills), I figured somebody had to sit down and do it. And apparently, that somebody was me. (May the gods help us all =D)

So, I sat myself down, and over the course of a few long days screencapped every single last scrap of Sirena that appears on the show. I now have a library of reference images and will post my progress as I work through them, trying to determine questions about the general layout of this ship, the details of its architecture and furnishings and all the questions that still remain. By the end of it, I am pretty confident that I will have a mostly accurate floorplan of the set that was used on the show (at least the parts of it that were shown to us thus far). We might even end up with the basis for a plan of the ship as it would exist in-universe (more on the movie set vs. “real place” issue later).

Tv Set vs . Starship

The set of La Sirena is just that, a tv set. When building a set, there are many constraints of time, budget, and practicality that will force the creatives to make decisions that will not always make sense when mapped onto a “real” starship. Take, for example, the fact that the Captain’s Quarters and the Conference Room were likely filmed in the same physical set, just redressed for the occasion.

Of course, there can always be Watsonian explanations for these kinds of incongruities and I’d love to hear people’s takes or read fics about them (after all, the entirety of La Sirena is apparently equipped with holoemitters, so I suppose technically, anything is possible).

But I am sticking with the Doylian “it’s a movie set” approach and will generally ignore these kinds of problems when trying to draft an in-universe-accurate floorplan of what we can know of the ship so far. I will be very diligent about pointing out whenever I handwave anything, though, so if you want to stick as closely to what we actually see on the whoe, you’ll know which parts of my analysis/headcanon to disregard ;)

Questions about “silly little details”

I have spend a ridiculous amount of time on this little project so far and in the course of it have gotten pretty familiar with a lot of aspects of the interior and exterior of this amazing starship. If you have any questions regarding details about what we can see of La Sirena on the show, please ask me and I will do my best to help! I absolutely love digging into the really nitpicky, tiny little scraps of information, and at this point, I can probably tell you straight away which scene might provide the info you’re looking for or whether there likely is no answer and you’ll have to get creative. So if you don’t feel like scrubbing through the entire 10 episodes of Picard to find out, say, the colour of the plates produced by Sirena’s replicators, please shoot me an ask, I’m always utterly delighted to help! (They’re white, btw.)

And just to make clear what I mean by “tiny little details”: in the course of writing some of my stories, I have collected answers to such important questions as

On which side of the desk does Rios have his chair? (Both)

How many cups are on the shelf next to the replicators? (4, even when one of them is currently in use)

Could a football roll under the railing on the upper deck and fall down into the mess hall anywhere but where the stairs go down? (No, there is a raised edge all around the rim that would catch it. Bouncing would work, though, since the space between the railing bars is large enough.)

Could I just say “Fuck it, I’ll just write it however, because it really doesn’t matter at all?” Yes. Would it be better for my sanity? Probably. Will I still keep trying to figure out as much about this crazy little ship as I possibly can at every turn? You betcha! So, no question is too silly, please ask away!!

A Quick Thought on Fanfic and “Accuracy”

This whole project started because whenever I write fanfic or make up stories set on La Sirena, my brain keeps insisting that we need to know which side of the mess hall the replicators are on! We need to know where exactly the holodeck is located and whether a football could fall to the lower deck through the railing. I would never hold anyone to these standards of “accuracy” - in fact I frequently don’t hold myself to these standards. Fic is for creative expression, so if in your imagination, La Sirena is twice the size of what we see in the show and has a ton of additional rooms and features, I would love to read that story! I want to create a resource for anyone looking for Sirena references to get inspired, not to point out inconsistencies or canon-divergence in lovingly created fanworks. I hope it comes across that way =)

favorite thing about them - Something I love about the show is we got to see him grow up! I love how far this kid has come and how his kindness has grown and matured with him! 

least favorite thing about them- I don’t have much to dislike? I guess I didn’t like how lightly he took things in early seasons, but now I kinda wish he did......I dunno. It’s hard for me to dislike characters like him X’D 

favorite line- Man why is this here, I’m so bad at remembering lines...ummmm: “Because dad, I can't stay a kid forever, when Connie grows up and becomes president what is that gonna make me? First Boy?!” aishfiuwehufi I just ran across this looking it up, CUTE. Also the porkchops> hotdogs line. Because yes. Profound and cute.

least favorite thing about them- His very very very inconsistent writing, and how his development always gets like....rewound before it can get too far. It SUCKS. It’s what fanfic is for.

It’s a cool combo. Soft voice and iron will and all that.I did not know she was like that before playing. KH didn’t really get that across at all...?? (Then again I did play Crisis Core, but that was so long ago I guess I forgot)

least favorite thing about them- How she doesn’t have that personality much post-death or in KH! What’s with that?? 

favorite line- "Mine is special. It's good for absolutely nothing!" (referring to her White Materia) This girl, oh my goodness. (I’m looking these up btw)

he’s also quite close with kiki. Natia and Kiki are the only two that he met before their great space adventure

she was friends w natia and alvaro from before, but it is akio she becomes closest with the fastest. in some ways, she feels more distant from natia/alvaro bc of how close they are with each other and  bc all of them have known each other for so long while akio is someone she got to know recently: he has no preconceptions about who she used to be, and she has none about him

plus, she and akio relate on many levels: both trans, both gay, both autistic, both theorists, and both loyal to a fault. she finds a real blood brother in akio :D

he’s a bit awkward, and doesn’t totally understand all social cues/jokes. because of this, he stays away from memes, and is very guarded when meeting new people, especially after experiences with light bullying for not only his social ineptitude, but his upbringing.

considering that, his first meeting with alvaro was supremely awkward, and akio accidentally fought with him multiple times before they established a solid friendship

he’s loyal af and is always the first one to take action. akio is a “do something. do anything, but do it fast before we lose a chance to do something” kind of guy

the general public sees him as the fiery one: he’s the one with the fanciest footwork in a fight, and he’s very good with battle tactics. he can come thru with that strategy at the perfect times

he's a low-key emo. for sure. he loves MCR, but strangely dislikes other similar artists like p!atd and fob.

basically, a slightly guarded boy with a real talent for defending the universe and his friends, but also an emo cowboy mess who is in love with alvaro and loves everyone :’)
