I think part of what makes this show so special is the way they handle conflict and conflict resolution.

Like the situation with Gun’s mom’s health has been building up over the course of the series but when it finally came to a head, it was resolved within the course of one episode. The miscommunication between Gun and Tinn surrounding it was resolved almost immediately and they sat and talked about the situation.

We didn’t get any extended fighting or silent treatment or breakup or anything that usually makes conflicts in the later episodes of a BL so frustrating to watch. The way Tinn and Gun are so young but they understand each other and their relationship so well is just so refreshing and makes everything about them so much more enjoyable to watch.

And I have the same hope that this will continue with Tinn’s mom finding out about Tinn and Gun which seems to be coming to a head in the next episode or so.

God I just LOVE this show so much.

i kind of like how they didn’t win hot wave. of course, i would have loved it if they did, but it just felt... right with how this series is?

the thing is, chinzilla’s story was never really about winning hot wave to me, even if that was their dream. i always felt it was about finding a place for these guys to play music together happily. even from the start, with the flashback to when they first joined the music club, it gave a hint to the fact that they weren’t the most talented (not being able to join orchestra), something that is repeated a bunch in the first half of the series. 

but what they lacked in skills they made up for in passion. and that passion was really what got them to where they were in the competition, because they genuinely had fun on stage playing music together. 

in general, i just love how realistic and mature my school president is. it wasn’t all sunshine and happiness throughout, but also didn’t have overly exaggerated conflict or drama. thinking back, it really just portrayed a high schoolers life so well. even in this episode, that one part where their teacher asked anyone who got into a university yet to write their name down, and only two people got up from chinzilla... that got me so bad. just... everything about this drama was so well thought out and i’m so glad i gave it a try and get to see this magic happen.

I loved that they showed us realistic homophobia. The teacher didn't just yell at them faggots and left, he was joking around with a friend. Then he actually came to apologize, but continued being homophobic but as if it's no big deal with the excuse of being "shocked" bc he thought gun was manly.

One thing I loved about My School President was Sound's character. Not only did he have one of the biggest developments in the show, but when he first came in he was introduced as "Tinn's biggest rival", making everyone think that we were about to get a show filled with ways Sound wanted to ruin Tinn's life. Instead, we got a boy who was just annoyed with a kid and....lived his life normally? Like it wasn't these long series of events to tear Tinn down, it was just him spitefully joining a club and then not really messing with him anymore? Idk I'm so used to these unnecessary dramatic plots that it was so nice seeing someone just not like a character and ignore them like a normal human being LOL.

My School President Ep 12 thought dump (there are spoilers)

- The relief that Tinn's mom didn't force him to come out is astronomical. There is a very clear difference in Gun's comfort with his mom, and Tinn's reservation with his own parents. It's so so so important for him to come out on his own terms and a very big step for her to realize that when she saw how nervous he was.

- Tinn's mom forever. I'm actually glad we meet her as his mom in MSP before MLC because I have a feeling we really won't like her in MLC.

- That honest conversation queer youth has about knowing not everyone is accepting. So important coming from Gunn, to support Tinn after Tinn has supported him all this tim

- I don't know if I can watch this because Tiw's faces are too funny

- That's right Tiw take the credit you deserve

- The girlies returned!! Sob they're so cute

- Tinn entering his angry at the world arc in the last episode is wild. Now that he doesn't have Gun's success to focus on, I imagine he's going to dismantle the government.
