ran a 7:01 mile today, after two and a half weeks of not running (but doing a lot of hiking). i didn't feel great going into the run though because it's been raining and dreary the last few days which tanks my energy levels, so i think i can do even better. i set a goal of 6:30 by the end of june and i was starting to feel doubtful about being able to hit it, but i think i got this.
#the hawk speaks#running#my PR in high school was 5:45 but i typically ran around 6 flat because i had mental issues lol#fact that i'm only a minute slower than i was at my peak... while having not run in a decade and currently not training#training being the whole nine yards of varied run structures weight lifting other cardio etc#i am purely just doing 3 mile runs a couple times a week and going hiking once or twice on the weekends and that is ALL for exercise#no cardio no weightlifting or cross training nothing#no super long runs or mile repeats or 400 sprints or any of that crap#and i'm already closing in on my peak-athlete-6-days-a-week-training past self's times#amazing#yes i know a minute is a lot in the mile but when i say i feel so incredibly different running now than i did back then i really mean it#my energy levels are more than ready to beat my old PRs it's just a matter of getting the muscles back in shape#thank you carnivore diet for showing me i can enjoy a sport i was always good at but never loved#it turns out i hated it at the time because i was sick. and now that i'm healthy i can fall in love with it completely
