(Set right before season 4)
Steve rushes over to the Henderson house after an ominous call from Dustin saying, "Come over as soon as you can, it's an emergency," before hanging up dramatically.
He can hear his nail bat rolling around in his trunk every turn he takes as he gets there in record time. He grabs the bat out of the trunk and rushes to the door, not bothering to knock before he barges in.
He's met with the sight of Eddie Munson staring at him with wide eyes as Dustin yells, "No! No! Don't swing! Not a code red!"
Steve sets down the bat and lets out a deep breath. "What the hell, Henderson?! I could've seriously taken you out with this thing!" He hears Dustin give him a half-assed apology as he tries to get his heartbeat to slow down. "Next time, don't leave such a cryptic message, okay?"
"Okay," Dustin says, holding his hands up.
"What the fuck is that?" Munson asks, staring at the bat.
Steve points at him and says, "Language," before turning to Dustin and asking, "What's he doing here?"
Dustin sighs and gestures them toward his couch. Steve shoots Eddie a look before taking a seat right against the arm of the couch. It's not that he hates him, hell, he's pretty sure he's gotten weed from him before. It's just that he doesn't like sharing this older brother role with another guy - especially one who likes to make dramatic speeches on top of lunch tables.
Based on the way Eddie is similarly leaning away from him and uncomfortably fidgeting with his rings, he can tell there's a mutual tension between them. Dustin doesn't pick up on it as he sits across from them, acting like he's about to deliver the worst news ever.
Steve leans forward a little trying to get Dustin to finally spill and tries not to lean back immediately when he sees that Eddie is doing the same thing.
"Okay, Suzie and I were talking, and her family is considering visiting Hawkins."
Steve smiles. "That's great, but why-"
"Why are you acting like that's bad news?" Eddie asks, finishing Steve's sentence. The two glance at each other, and Steve tries not to size him up.
Dustin groans, "Because I need to take her on a proper date! We weren't able to go on dates during science camp, so I want this to be special. Of course, this is all contingent on whether she can convince her dad to give us alone time..."
"I could be your chaperone, but I'd ditch you once you got to the movie theater," Steve offers.
Eddie scoffs, "Yeah, a date with Suzie will not be at a movie theater."
Steve crosses his legs and turns toward Eddie. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know you knew something about dating. Wait a minute." He directs his attention back to Dustin, utterly horrified. "You asked me and Munson for girl help?"
"Don't sound so shocked," Eddie says, but Steve ignores him.
"Yes," Dustin states simply. He sighs and gestures between the two of them. "Steve, you're a lady's man and you know exactly what to say and where the best date spots are, but you pick up the worst girls. Except Robin who you refuse to date." Steve doesn't have time to argue before Dustin points at Eddie, "And Eddie understands all the cool nerd stuff that Suzie and I like, and he's super charismatic. So, I thought we could combine your abilities to create the most epic date in the history of dates."
"No," Steve and Eddie both say at once.
"Guys-"
Steve turns to Eddie and raises an eyebrow. "Why are you protesting my help?"
"Because try as he might, Dustin can't convince me that you aren't an asshole that has never actually wooed a girl. You get by with your pretty looks and think that's enough."
Steve's mind lingers a bit on the "pretty looks" for some reason, but he pushes past it to say, "Please, you're telling me you know a single thing about wooing a girl?"
Eddie leans in with a bright smile. "You heard it from Henderson, I'm charming."
"Charismatic," Steve corrects him, "But I haven't seen a shred of that yet."
Eddie tosses an arm over the back of the couch and scoots in until Steve is trapped against the arm of the couch. Steve tries not to show Eddie how much the sudden closeness is affecting him.
"I could easily charm your pants off, big boy," Eddie says with a wink.
Steve's eyes betray him and flicker down to Eddie's lips. "Please, I'd easily beat you to it."
Eddie tilts his head and looks at him through his lashes. "Are you saying you want to charm my pants off, Harrington? I'm flattered, but I'm not that kind of girl."
Steve raises his eyebrows. "Is that a bet?"
"Do you want it to be? Because it kind of sounds like it."
Steve blames his series of bad dates, the meaningless sex with girls with no substance, and the weird tension between them for his response. "It's a date, Munson."
"So, I'm going to assume that was the weirdest way of you two agreeing to help me," Dustin says, startling Steve away from Eddie who he was definitely not just about to kiss.
"Jesus H. Christ," Eddie mumbles under his breath as he moves away, seeming to have also forgotten where they were.
"Sure, we'll create a date for you two and trial-run it for issues," Steve says.
Dustin smiles wide and giggles, "See, I knew you two would help if you just put your dumb differences aside!"
"Something like that," Eddie mutters. "But hey, what does your gut say? Where do you want to take her?"
Dustin shrugs. "I like the idea of the movies."
Steve slowly looks over at Eddie and gives him a cocky smile. Eddie's mouth twitches momentarily into a frown, but he ignores him. "I'll think of something special to do after, but Harrington can fill you in on a movie date."
"I thought you were the expert on wooing," Steve snarkily replies.
Eddie huffs, "Movie dates just aren't my thing."
If they're actually trial-running this, Steve will make it a point to make movie dates Eddie's thing.
"That sounds great. Thank you both!" Dustin says, still ignoring the obvious tension.
"Well, I've got to head out, but it was good seeing you," Eddie says with a genuine smile that Steve thinks he would like to see more often.
"I do, too. Hey, I'm glad I could help. Next time maybe don't make it sound like a nail-bat emergency though," Steve says lowering his voice before grabbing the bat.
He follows Eddie toward the front, but they both stop and turn to mess up Dustin's hair simultaneously. Steve pulls his hand back when Eddie's hand runs on top of his. He looks at him with his eyebrows furrowed.
"I told you you guys are similar."
Steve thinks that Dustin's right, but maybe they're only similar in the way they both obviously care for him.
They finish their goodbyes and head out into the cold January weather. Steve clutches his jacket tighter around himself - he had forgotten to grab a heavier coat in his rush over. He turns to Eddie and says, "Hey."
Eddie turns to him and raises his eyebrows.
"Want to trial-run that date tonight?"
Eddie frowns at him. "I thought you were joking."
With that, Steve should take the clear out given to him and agree. Yes, it was just a joke. Instead, he says, "It doesn't have to be."
It's a long few seconds of Eddie staring at him before he gets a quiet response of, "Yeah, sure. Uh, let's go to my place though. I don't want your reputation to be tainted if you're seen in public with me."
"I wouldn't mind," Steve says sincerely. He's not sure why he's so adamant about this date, but maybe he just wants to see where that moment on the couch could truly lead. "But hey, your reputation would also be tainted if you're associating with me."
"And we wouldn't want that," Eddie says with a small smile. "The freak and the king. What would people say?"
This surprises a laugh out of Steve before he says, "I think your place would probably be a little more intimate than a movie theater."
He can't tell if Eddie's cheeks suddenly flush a little pinker from the cold or a blush. "I told you, I'm not that kind of guy."
"More intimate doesn't always mean sex. You know this."
Eddie laughs and shakes his head. "Why don't we continue this conversation at my place so you don't freeze to death?"
"I like the sound of that," Steve says, making his way to his car and trying to hide the huge smile that's trying to split across his face all because of Eddie Munson.
He rushes to shove his bat into the trunk, hoping that he won't have to further explain that to Eddie. But based on the way his eyes linger on it, he's thinking he won't get away from questioning too easily.
Luckily, he has prepared his Harrington charm for this moment. And boy, he's going to be using it as often as he can to prove Eddie wrong.

showing your 🍒 during an argument (maknae line)
here's the maknae line! i feel like each one is a little all over the place, but i think it's still pretty cute 🫢 so, please enjoy! 🩷
Han Jisung
Jisung gives you the silent treatment the whole way home. You have a hard time understanding what he's so upset about. You thought the two of you were having a good time.
You watch him closely as the two of you walk through your apartment door. You cross your arms over your chest after slipping your heels off, gently setting them beside the door.
“Do you have any clue why I'm so upset?” He asks you, turning around to face you. Jisung combs his fingers through his hair, breathing heavily.
“I'm going to be honest, no,” you shake your head, tentatively stepping towards him.
Jisung rubs his face, releasing a quick sigh. He moves from where he's standing and sits down on the couch. “I overheard you talking to Yeji,” he mentions, hoping it'll refresh your memory. “It was right after I told you I was getting drinks. I had forgotten my wallet, so I went back to get it when you told her that you weren't happy.”
You frown. “Baby, I wasn't talking about you,” you reassure him, staying in your spot by the door.
He scoffs, rolling his eyes. “It sounded pretty convincing from my point of view,” Jisung mutters, keeping his eyes on his feet.
“I told Yeji that I wasn't happy about how her partner treated her,” you say to him, hoping he'll at least hear you out. “I promise you. Baby, I'm so happy with you, you have no idea!”
Your boyfriend lifts his head, eyeing you from his seat. You can tell he's having an internal battle with himself. You take a few steps closer to him, wanting to reach your hand out.
“You're a hundred percent sure?” He asks you, causing you to giggle softly.
“Of course, Hanji. I love you so much,” you smile. You bite your lip slightly, trying to think of a way that'll make him feel better.
You push your jacket off, letting the article of clothing drop to the floor. Jisung's eyes glance towards you, furrowing slightly as he attempts to figure out what's happening.
“Plus, would I willingly do this if I wasn't happy?” You ask while lifting your shirt.
Jisung's jaw drops, his hands clutching the edge of the couch. “I– Wow,” he mumbles, pushing himself up from his seat.
You smile widely as your cute boyfriend stumbles towards you. “Be careful, baby,” you giggle.
He catches himself and now stands in front of you. His hands rest on your waist, stroking his thumbs along your bare skin. “I love you so much, too,” Jisung whispers, keeping his eyes on your chest.
“Are you saying that to me or my breasts?” You laugh, caressing his cheek with your hand.
“You, silly,” Jisung laughs as well, trailing his fingers up your torso. Your breath hitches in your throat when his fingertip brushes your nipple. “I'm sorry for how I acted. I should've just talked to you.”
You shake your head, moving some hair out of his face. “It's okay, baby. Just know that I'd never be unhappy with you, okay? I love you,” you mutter to him, pressing a sweet kiss on his lips.
Lee Felix
You furrow your brows at the sound of your boyfriend screaming. You stop what you're doing and stand up from your spot on the couch.
Felix has been gaming with Seungmin and Jeongin for a few hours now. He comes out every once in a while, but it's been over an hour since you've seen him last.
You slowly walk towards his gaming room, gently knocking on the door before opening it. You peek your head inside, seeing Felix gripping his hair. “Baby, everything okay?” You ask, and he turns around to face you.
“I'm fine. Can you leave?” He mutters, shocking you a little.
“Uh, yeah, of course,” you stumble over your words, not expecting Felix to speak to you that way. “I ordered dinner. It should be here soon, okay?”
He grunts in response, waving a hand while swiveling around to face the computer screens.
A tiny sigh comes from your lips as you gently shut the door. You tuck some hair behind your ear, wondering if there's something you can do to cheer him up a smidge.
You walk into the kitchen, grabbing his favorite drink. You're not particularly fond of how angry he gets when he loses. Before you're able to deliver his drink, there's a knock at your door.
You set the drink down on the table, heading towards the front door. You open it to see the food you ordered, almost squealing in excitement.
“Thank you so much!” You say to the delivery guy, taking the bag from his hands.
After shutting the door, you bring the delivery to your kitchen table. You separate your food from Felix's before setting his drink into the bag. You grab the bag and make your way back to his game room.
“Baby, I got your food and a drink,” you say while walking into the room.
Felix is currently in the middle of a match, the sounds of his mouse and keyboard echoing off the walls.
He curses at his teammates under his breath as you set the food down. You watch him silently for a minute, not wanting to interrupt his match.
“Seungmin! I'm fucking dying over here. Can one of you help me?!” Felix almost screams, halting his game movements to slam his fist on the desk.
You jump a bit, not expecting him to get so loud. “Baby,” you try to warn him, not wanting to get any complaints from the neighbors.
Felix does it again when his character dies. “I'm dead. I'm fucking done,” he says into his headset before fligging it off his head.
His dark eyes meet yours, and you feel more nervous than you've ever felt with him. “I brought dinner and your favorite drink,” you mutter softly, pushing the bag towards him.
“I'm not in the mood. I'll eat it later,” Felix mentions, his eyes dancing from you to the bag of delivery.
“But, you haven't eaten all day,” you frown, knowing that he hasn't eaten a full meal once today. “It's almost nine, you need to eat.”
Felix closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. “Y/N, I said not now. I'm pissed off, and I don't need you babying me,” he almost snaps, glaring at you.
You shake your head and decide to do something bold. You lift your shirt, exposing your naked chest to him. You watch as his eyes shift to your chest, the anger in them dissipating.
“Shit,” he whispers to himself, reaching a hand out to touch them. Felix stands up from his chair as well, getting closer to you. “If this is a new way to get me to shut up, use it more.”
A giggle leaves your lips, and his eyes meet yours again. “They'll bring back the Felix I know,” you joke with him, bringing a hand to his face.
You bite your lip when his finger brushes your nipples. “Thank you for dinner, baby,” he mutters after placing a kiss on your lips. “I can have you for dessert, right?”
Your breath hitches in your throat as Felix wraps an arm around your waist. You rest your hands on his chest, gently gripping the shirt he's wearing. “Yeah, of course,” you whisper to him, kissing him once again.
Kim Seungmin
A hand wraps around your wrist before they tug you away from the person you're speaking with “Wait‐” you cut yourself off, realizing the person who dragged you away was Seungmin.
“You wait,” he mutters, hearing the annoyance in his voice.
He drags you towards the restrooms, shoving you into the girls' room. You stumble a bit and catch yourself on the sink. Seungmin locks the door before facing you, crossing his arms over his chest.
“What's wrong?” You ask him, reaching a hand out to him.
Seungmin evades your touch, and it breaks your heart a little. “You're supposed to be here with me,” he tells you, raising an eyebrow. “Yet, you've spent the past forty-five minutes talking to some dude.”
You frown, pressing your lips together for a second. “I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was that long,” you apologize, not wanting to argue in a nightclub's bathroom.
“Did you even try to leave? Do you want to be here with me?” Seungmin questions you, his hands dropping to his sides.
“Of course!” You say with no hesitation, taking a step forward. “I've been wanting to go out with you for years, Seungmin.”
He sighs, feeling the tips of his ears heating up. “You don't act like it, Y/N,” he says with a frown. “Maybe I should just bring you home.”
You shake your head, putting your hands on his chest. “No, wait! Seungmin–"
Your date pushes your hands away from you, moving to unlock the door. You run your hands through your hair and block his path again, staring up at him.
“Y/N,” he sighs, rubbing his face.
You lift your shirt, exposing your naked chest. Seungmin's eyes widen at the sudden action, his cheeks blushing and attempts to not look at you.
“Can I talk now?” You ask him, ducking a bit so you can look in his eyes. He swallows thickly, nodding his head. “I tried so hard to get out of talking to him. Believe me, okay? I wanted to get back to you and spend my time with you.”
He parts his lips, wanting to say something, but nothing comes out. His gaze dips to your chest, not believing that they're still out. “Uhm, I–” Seungmin pauses, wiping his hands on his jeans.
“Are they distracting you?” You ask in a whisper, chuckling softly. He nods his head while meeting your gaze.
You giggle some more, reaching forward to grab one of his hands. “If you are willing to stay and continue our date…” you trail off, placing his hand on one of your breasts. “Then you'll be able to do this more often.”
“You're cruel,” he mutters, shaking his head. He squeezes your breast, and you gently bite your lip. “But you're so pretty.”
It's your turn to blush, diverting your gaze away from him. “Thank you, Seungmin,” you whisper loud enough for him to hear. You fiddle with your fingers, looking back at him after a minute of silence. “Do you still want to take me home?”
“No, no, we can continue,” he tells you, squeezing you again. “Now, cover up. Those are mine.”
A gasp escapes your lips, not expecting him to say that to you. You lick your lips and lower your shirt down, covering yourself up. “Kim Seungmin, you dog,” you laugh, slapping his arm playfully before he leads you out of the bathroom.
Yang Jeongin
“Why did we leave the party?” You ask Jeongin, your voice slurring with intoxication.
He shifts his eyes to you, not saying anything before continuing to open the hotel room door. Your boyfriend drags you into the room and plants you down on the edge of the bed.
“It's pretty obvious why we left,” he says bluntly, toeing his dress shoes off.
You furrow your brows, trying to think, but your foggy brain comes up with nothing. “We were having a good time,” you point out, getting up to head to the mini fridge.
Jeongin stops you, his large hands gripping your arms. You stumble into him, resting your hands on his chest. “You were having a good time, Y/N,” he calls you by your name, causing your chest to clench a smidge.
“You told me I could,” you mutter.
“Yeah, one or two! I didn't expect you to get fucking drunk,” he huffs, sitting you back down. “You were embarrassing me.”
You scoff, shaking your head before crossing your arms. “I was hyping you up, Innie. I knew how nervous you were, so I tried to make it easier for you,” you confess to him.
“Baby, you told them about our sex lives,” Jeongin sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. “They certainly didn't need to know about that.”
You giggle, covering your mouth with your hand. “Oops, sorry about that, baby,” you pout, looking up at him.
He's still glaring at you, but in your drunken haze, you can see his eyes starting to soften. “You don't look very sorry,” Jeongin mutters, grabbing water from the table.
“I love it when you get flushed just by looking at me,” you say while exposing your chest to him.
Jeongin choked on his water, covering his mouth with the back of his hand. He groans, tilting his head to the side. “Jesus, baby. You can't just do that,” he coughs a bit, his gaze settled on your breasts.
You smile at his reaction and stand up from your spot. Jeongin twists the cap, closing the bottle of water. “Why? When that is the reaction, I love to see so much!” You smirk, reducing the distance between you.
“You're cheating to win the argument,” he whines before chuckling, his hands touching your bare skin.
“Why argue when we could be doing something else?” You offer, standing on your toes to kiss him.
He wraps an arm around your waist, tugging your body closer to him. Your breasts are pressed against his pecs and your forehead against his.
“I'm truly sorry about tonight. My nerves and alcohol don't mix,” you whisper, pressing a light kiss on him.
“It's okay. I love you,” he mumbles, returning your kiss. Jeongin lays you on the bed as his lips trail down to your chest. “You looked scrumptious tonight.”
You run your fingers through his hair, smiling softly. “I love you, too.”

{Previous Chapter} - {Next Chapter}
Prepare to meet my plot device lol
Chapter Three - Third wheel
You're sitting at your piano in the empty theater mindlessly playing notes. The melody is new, something no one had ever heard before. You had taken the opportunity of no one being here to come to your familiar friend and play the tune in your heart.
You were so lost in the melody that you hadn't heard the door open and close. Nor did you hear the footsteps coming down the aisle of chairs.
The call of your name as your music ending shortly, unfinished. You sigh and look up to see the manager of the theater waiting for your attention.
“Yes?”
“I hadn't heard that one before,” he says, smiling at you.
You sigh again. “Of course not. It's new. That's not why you came in here is it?” You ask.
He laughs. “No. It isn't. I want to introduce you to someone.”
You can feel yourself wanting to groan. He knew how much you hated actually talking to people, but you wanted to keep him happy. He was, after all, your only chance to perform.
You stand from the piano and hop down from the stage. Jack, the manager, rolls his eyes at you. He often tells you off for doing that during rehearsals.
You now take notice of the man behind Jack. He's about your age, sandy brown hair, green eyes. You look from him to Jack.
“This is Noah. He's a singer.” Jack states.
You nod and look between them both wondering why he wanted you to meet this man. Plenty of people come and go from this theater, you don't usually meet them all personally.
“Noah has a request and I think it's a fabulous idea,” Jack goes on. “How would you feel about playing for him while he sings? You could be a duo!”
You stare at Jack. Noah is smiling softly from behind him. He takes a step forward and you turn your attention to him.
“I adore your talent. I have seen you perform several times and every time I hear you play I feel like all my worries melt away. I want you to play while I sing. I think we could go quite far together, perhaps even be good enough to see the world.”
Those were some strong words.
“I play solo,” you say.
“Hey now, give him a chance,” Jack says. “Look, you're our best performer here. Most of our audience come to see you play your piano. I think it's time to switch things up and try something new.”
“I don't want to try something new. I want to do what makes me happy,” you tell him.
He says your name with a smile, but you don't hang about to listen. You flee the theater and seek refuge in your dressing room.
You're alone in your dressing room for a good few minutes before you hear a knock on your door. You expect it to be Amelie perhaps seeing if you're in here, but usually she just comes in. You don't say anything for a while, preferring to stay alone if it isn't her. However, the door opens and someone comes in. You turn and find yourself face to face with Noah.
You frown.
“I'm sorry, but I couldn't leave knowing I'd offended you. Please just hear me out.”
You sigh softly and turn around in your stool. Noah takes a seat on the table behind him. “I know music is your passion. I've seen you perform many times. To be able to sing while you play… that would be a dream.”
“I play solo.”
“I know… you said that. I just… I think we could be good together. Imagine what magic we could create together. How many people would come to see us?” He smiles wide, excited by the thought.
It is clear popularity is important to him.
“I don't care. Music is all I care about.” And making Lestat happy with your music, of course. After that evening with him, he has been on your mind a lot.
“You can still play your music, just allow me to sing over it. Let me voice meld with your melody.” He speaks sweetly. Almost too sweetly.
“No.”
Noah sighs and then nods. “I understand. I'm sorry I disturbed you.”
Noah takes his leave. You sigh and slump down at your dressing table.
That following Friday you're waiting to get onto the stage to play your beloved piano, especially knowing Lestat would be watching. Perhaps he would permit you to go to his house again to play a duet with him. You certainly hoped so.
While waiting for your name to be called Noah comes up beside you. He adjusts his cufflinks mindlessly in the corner of your eye. You do not spare him a glance, keeping your eyes focused on your favorite instrument ahead of you.
“Good luck tonight,” he says.
You didn't need luck. You just needed your music.
“I'm sure you'll amaze the crowd tonight.”
You once again don't respond to him. Noah chuckles. You hear your name being called and you take a deep breath before walking out onto the stage.
Upon reaching the piano you turn to the crowd, but you're not really looking at them. You're only looking for one face. You spot him up in the boxes. You smile softly when your eyes land on him. He must notice your smile because he smiles too. Knowing Lestat was there was a comfort to you.
Lestat appreciated your music. He understood it. He understood you.
You take a seat at the bench and take another deep breath. Your fingers hover the keys. You imagine for just a moment that Lestat is beside you on the bench. You think about that night in his house when you made music together and how happy you felt in that moment.
Lestat knows.
You begin to play, a smile on your face. You're so ready to give a performance to be proud of, to make this a night to remember, not only for yourself, but for your admirer too. You wanted Lestat to enjoy your gift.
However, this would be a night to remember for all the wrong reasons. As you get into it, you're interrupted by a deep voice singing behind you. Not once missing a note you glance behind you to see Noah enter the stage. He walks to the center and sings with all his might. You stare at him with pure confusion. You did not agree to this.
Catching Jack’s eye off to the left side of the stage you can see him shaking his head at you. He doesn't look the least bit sorry. You turn your eyes back to the piano and try and focus on the music. However, that attention grabbing voice is making it difficult for you to enjoy your music.
Noah was owning the stage. People weren't listening to your music any more. They all had their eyes on Noah. Now, a crowd watching you wasn't your desire, but it was the thought that they were paying mkre attention to him than your magic that irritated you.
When you finished the piece you expected him to leave, but he didn't. He accepted the applause and then looked at you, urging you to keep on playing.
You stared at him with a frown.
“Play,” he says quietly.
You grit your teeth and begin playing the next piece. He smiled back at the crowd and then began to sing. For the next half house he sang though every piece of magic you played. He had taken your moment for his own and you hated it.
Up in his box, Lestat glared at the man. He gripped his arm rest so hard it began to splinter. Who was this fool who dared take away from your beautiful melody?
Lestat could read your thoughts. This was not something you wanted. You were upset that this man had taken it upon himself to perform with you without your consent.
That would not do.
The half hour of your performance felt so much longer to Lestat. He was eager to leave his box and go down to your dressing room, however, you were still playing and he didn't want to miss a moment to lay his eyes upon you, no matter how grating that voice was. Could this even be considered singing?
As soon as the show was over Lestat left his box quickly.
You hurried down to your dressing room as soon as you were free from the stage. You began to pace around the space of the room quickly. Amelie was first to enter. She was quickly to start chatting.
“I had no idea he was going to do that. I know you said no to his request, so I knew you had no intention of that happening. I am so sorry I didn't stop him, but it was too late. When I realised what he was doing I couldn't stop him, not without making a scene.”
You don't reply, just continue pacing.
The next one to enter is Noah, followed by Jack. You glare at Jack. “What was that?”
“That was me showing you how good we could be together,” Noah says.
“I wasn't asking you!” You glare at him and turn back to Jack. “I play solo.”
“I know, but surely it wasn't so bad to give it a chance.”
“You humiliated me!”
“You two work so well together,” Jack argues.
“No. No we don't.”
Jack calla your name softly, but it's Noah who speaks up. “Look, sweetheart, do you have any idea how adored we were? We had then on the edge of their seat.”
“They were on the edge of their seat because they were straining to hear the piano!” You bite back.
Noah laughs.
Amelie steps forward and rubs your arms with comfort. You lean into her embrace and let her soothe you.
“We could go global,” Noah comments.
“No. No, I refuse to let you spoil my moment. It's my music.”
“Look, that was the most popular you had been since you started performing here,” Jack tells you. “You need to let Noah worl with you. Surely you don't want to be stuck here all your life.”
“I like it here…”
Silence fills the room as they all look at you. Amelie is still trying to comfort you. Noah and Jack are staring you down. They want you to cave in.
There's a knock at your door and then a familiar voice. “If I may interrupt.”
You feel relief when you see Lestat slink into the room. He instantly makes his way over to you, pushing past Noah to reach you. You smile as he comes over. Lestat stands in front of you and uses his finger to tilt your chin up. He smiles.
“Are you alright?” He asks.
You nod your head slightly.
Lestat smiles and drops his hand. He joins you at your side. Amelie is shocked to see him here but doesn't say anything. You feel Lestat place his hand on your lower back.
“Who are you?” Jack asks.
“Ah, I apologise.” Lestat grins. “Lestat De Lioncourt. The sponsor for this pure talent in the room.”
“I've never met you,” Noah says, looking him up and down with a deep frown.
“I said for the talent,” Lestat retorts. He then turns to you with a smile. “Shall we go, mon chéri?”
You simply nod your head which makes him smile. Just as you're both about to make your exit, Noah steps forward. “I'm sorry, but who are you? Where are you going?”
“I don't think that's your business. Come, dear, let us go.” Lestat guides you out of the room.
As you leave the theater he puts his coat over your shoulders and walks with you down the street. There's silence between you for a little while, but then Lestat breaks it.
“Who was that man?”
“I don't really know. Jack, the manager, introduced him to me earlier in the week. He's called Noah. Claims he's a fan of my music and wants to sing to it. I tried to tell Jack I play solo… but Noah took it upon himself to join the performance tonight.”
Lestat looks displeased.
“Are you alright?” You ask softly.
He turns to you and smiles. “Yes. Do not fret. I shall not let that man take away your sparkle.”
“You told Jack you were my sponsor. I don't have a sponsor.”
He grins again. “You do now.”
You look at him in wonder. “Why?”
He chuckles. “Is it not obvious?” You shake your head. He chuckles again. “I want you to bloom.”
A warmth floods your chest as the thought that this man you have only known a short while cared so much about your passion. The smile on his face almost made you believe he knew just how happy hearing those words had made you.
“Thank you.”
“There is no need to thank me,” he tells you. “This is my gift to you.”
Lestat walked you home and did not leave until he was certain you were safe inside. Even then, he took his time heading back. He was not about to let some pathetic human man ruin your beauty.

Back To You - Steve Rogers
Summary: You've always been there for Steve, and now you're watching him go back to the girl he always wanted.
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Warnings: Angst. Maybe language. Fluff. My poor attempts at being funny.
Word Count: 2.5K
A/N: This was supposed to be a Reader x Steve story, but I was too tempted to make reader end up with Bucky. So I decided to make two separate endings, the original with Steve and an alternate one where she ends with Bucky, if only for @ordelixx who gave me the idea. I'd also like to thank @mrsbuckybarnes1917 for the idea and for helping me write about other characters.
Masterlist
You know what’s about to happen. You know he’s gonna leave, you know he’s not gonna come back, you know you’ll never see him again.
You know he’s gonna try to have the life he always wanted with the girl he always wanted. The girl he loves.
And that girl is not you.
You watch him as he says goodbye to Bucky, you know he knows as well as you do that his best friend isn’t coming back.
Then Steve turns to you and you try your best to smile.
“I wish I had met you earlier.” he whispers as he kisses you on the forehead and you know in that instant this is really goodbye.
You smile and nod, not being able to get a word out, willing yourself not to cry.
He walks onto the platform and soon he’s gone.
You’ve been by Steve’s side ever since he came back from the ice. You were the agent assigned to watch over him, you were there when he woke up and had to run after him when he freaked out.
You were there during the battle of New York, during the fall of Shield in DC, during the whole Ultron incident and in Lagos.
You were on his side for the Accords, and you were by his side in London as he said goodbye to the love of his life.
You were there with him and Sam in Romania to try and help Bucky, you were arrested with them and then helped fight the Winter Soldier, yet again.
You were on his side to fight against Tony and the rest of the Avengers, you got arrested again and were broken out of the Raft by him.
You spent two years on the run with him, and fought next to him in Wakanda.
You watched his dumb ass try to fight Thanos barehanded and you were quickly knocked down when you tried to help him.
You snapped like half the universe and apparently lost 5 years of your life. You came back, thanks to him, and fought against Thanos one last time.
And now you're watching him leave.
You were there to help him get accustomed to the 21st century, you were there for him on sleepless nights.
You were there for him as he cried for his lost friends, his lost love and his lost life. He always came to you when he needed to talk, to be held, help sleeping and even advise.
And you were always there for him, falling in love little by little against your better judgement.
You’re brought back to the present as you hear Sam freaking out on Bruce because Steve missed his mark and didn’t come back.
You look at Bucky and you both know what this means. He gives you a sympathetic smile and you try to give a smile back but fail.
You look away from him and take a deep breath. You turn around and start walking away.
You’re done here, and about to break down. Something you never allowed yourself to do in front of anybody, with the exception of Steve.
And now he’s gone.
You get in your car and quickly drive away, not looking back. You drive straight to Steve’s apartment.
You’ve been staying there since you came back while the compound gets fixed since your old apartment has been someone else’s home for the past 5 years.
Five years. That’s how long you’ve been gone. That’s how much of life you’ve missed.
And now you’re left to pick up the pieces of your life by yourself, along with your broken heart.
If you were completely honest with yourself you always knew it wouldn’t have worked with Steve. You’ve never thought you were remotely good enough for him, and that was before even comparing yourself to Peggy.
There was no doubt in your mind that she was Steve’s soulmate, and you’ve talked about her enough times to know he thought the same.
- Original Ending -
You’re taken out of your thoughts by a knock on your door. You frown and cautiously walk to it, picking up your gun from its hiding place under the coffee table.
It’s probably nothing but better safe than sorry, right?
You take a peek from the peephole and frown even more when you see that whoever’s on the other side of the door covered it.
You ready your gun and take a deep breath, your hand on the doorknob. You open and lose no time pointing right in front of you, but you almost drop your gun along with your jaw when you see who’s standing there.
You almost feel like you’re dreaming so you pinch yourself, which makes him laugh and when that sound hits your ears you know you’re not hallucinating either.
Steve Rogers, the same face you’ve always known, standing right in front of you.
For a moment neither of you say anything, then he decides that maybe you’re too in shock to talk so he breaks the silence.
“I’ve never knocked on my own door before. That was a wild ride.” He laughs again and at the sound you can’t help but let the tears you’ve been trying so hard to keep in fall.
The moment he sees the first tear Steve’s face falls and then he’s wrapping his arms around you, your face buried in his chest.
You slowly bring your own arms to wrap around his waist, almost worried that if you make any sudden moves he’s gonna disappear.
Once your arms are around him too, you realize it’s all real and he’s actually there and you let yourself go, crying your eyes out and clinging to him.
Suddenly, he picks you up and you hang onto him for dear life as he carries you back inside the apartment, closing the front door and then goes to sit on the couch with a still crying you on his lap.
He does nothing more than run his hand through your hair, rubbing your back with the other and letting you get it all out.
After a few minutes you start to calm down and finally get your voice back. “I thought you were gone forever.”
Of all the reactions he could’ve had, he surprises you with the only one you don't expect by chuckling. “You never were very patient, were you, sweetheart?”
You look up at him and frown, sniffling and softly say “What do you mean? You were gone… Bruce said you missed your mark.”
He nods and wipes away the rest of your tears while he talks. “I did. I put the wrong time by mistake. You know me and technology.”
“But… You and Peggy…” your frown is still in place, just not being able to believe that he came back.
Did you read the signs wrong? Was he always planning on coming back? Almost like he can read your mind, he starts giving you some answers, his eyes never leaving yours.
“Once I was done returning the stones, I knew I had a chance to go back to the 40s and I was gonna take it. I thought I wanted to take it. But I couldn’t.”
“Why not?” You ask in a whisper.
“Because of you, doll.” He says without missing a beat with a sweet smile. “All I could think about was you. Your smile, your laugh, your strength. The way you tried so hard to be happy for me even though you thought I was leaving forever. The mere thought of not seeing you, not talking to you, not having you by my side, it killed me.”
You’re almost crying again, but you make yourself talk, needing clarification, your voice still quiet. “What are you saying, Steve?”
“I’m saying, there is no me and Peggy. It’s me and you. It’s been me and you from day one.” He takes your face in his hands and leans in more, your faces only inches apart. “And I’m an idiot for taking this long to figure it out. I’m sorry, sweetheart. Can you forgive me?”
You swallow down the tears threatening to fall again and waste no time before nodding, maybe a little too eagerly but you don’t really care, and he doesn’t seem to mind either judging by his smile.
“I forgive you, Steve.” The words are barely out of your mouth before Steve is leaning in the rest of the way and kissing you.
You kiss back without thinking twice about it and after a few seconds you pull back, big goofy smiles on both your faces.
You spent the rest of the afternoon like this, cuddling and talking and just enjoying each other’s company.
You didn’t do much, it wasn’t much different from the endless number of days you spent together, but you couldn’t help but feel like this was the best day of your life.
And even if you didn’t know it, Steve was thinking the exact same thing.
After all, what is better than spending the day cuddling with the girl he always needed? The girl he loves.
And that girl is you.
- Alternative Ending -
You’re taken out of your thoughts by a knock on your door. You frown and cautiously walk to it, picking up your gun from its hiding place under the coffee table.
It’s probably nothing but better safe than sorry, right?
You take a peek from the peephole and immediately roll your eyes, lowering your gun while opening the door.
“I guess you weren’t expecting company.” Bucky says, more amused than anything when he sees the gun in your hand.
You make no attempt to try and hide your annoyance as you roll your eyes again. “What are you doing here, Barnes?”
It’s not that you don’t like Bucky, you just don’t know him all that well if not only thanks to the stories Steve shared of him in the 40s.
“I thought I’d make sure you were okay. You ran out of there pretty fast.”
“Yeah, well, he’s gone. It’s a done deal, don’t see why I had to stick around.” You say crossing your arms defensively.
Bucky doesn’t seem to mind your response as he simply leans on the doorway and keeps talking. “He was disappointed not to see you.”
You frown, beyond confused by a single and simple sentence. Bucky smiles and elaborates. “He lived a life. And he’s old now, but still alive.”
“Oh.” is all you can say. Steve old? You can’t even imagine it.
“He gave the shield to Sam.” Bucky continues, just making conversation.
“Really? I would’ve thought he’d give it to you if he had to choose.” Bucky frowns a little and tilts his head, seeming genuinely confused.
“Why would he give it to me?”
You shrug. “I don’t know, you were his best friend, you’re a supersoldier. I guess I just assumed.”
“None of that matters, Sam is a good man. He deserves it.” He argues, then quickly adds. “Don’t tell him I said that.”
You grin and nod, then say. “For what it’s worth you’re a good man too, Bucky. Steve thought the world of you, trust me. He never stopped thinking highly of you.”
That was nothing more than a simple reassurance for you, but for Bucky it was so much more than that.
He knew you were talking about his time as the Winter Soldier. You were telling him that, even knowing about all that, Steve never let that influence his opinion of his former best friend. He still knew who Bucky was, deep down.
Bucky never heard words like that coming from anyone that’s not Steve, and you said it so casually, like you really believe it and to you it’s no big deal to just say it.
But for him, it was everything.
You didn’t know it then, but that was the moment Bucky started falling for you.
“Why are you checking up on me, Bucky? Really?” You say after a moment, breaking the silence that fell between you.
“Steve made me promise to take care of you before he left.” He said simply.
Bucky didn’t know it then, but that was the moment your heart broke completely.
You managed to keep yourself from breaking right then and there, but Bucky could see that something was wrong.
He didn’t push it though, making conversation a little more before saying goodbye with the promise that he’d be back the next day.
And that’s what he did.
In fact, he came back everyday, no matter what, to check on you.
It started out as quick visits where he wouldn’t even enter the door, then you started inviting him in for coffee because you felt bad he came to Steve’s apartment everyday, always refusing to let you meet him somewhere else.
After a while you started inviting him for meals, to watch a movie or just to hang out.
You almost didn’t know how, but at one point you started to really look forward to Bucky’s visits everyday, getting excited every time he knocked on the door.
It was the best part of your day, really.
You knew Bucky felt the same, it was like you both knew what was slowly happening between you and you had a silent understanding not to discuss it.
You also never discussed your feelings for Steve, but you felt like Bucky somehow knew nonetheless.
But the more time you spent with Bucky the more those feelings seemed to fade.
You still loved Steve, still missed him, you could feel yourself letting go of him with every time you spent time with Bucky, every time he made you laugh, every time your hands would accidentally touch.
You could feel yourself falling in love with Bucky and, this time, it felt right. This time you didn’t even try to stop it.
And it seemed like Bucky felt the same way.
Time after time he became more bold with his flirting, with physical touch, until eventually he was shamelessly hitting on you and cuddling you every time he could.
And, when you made no attempt whatsoever to stop him, it was the only signal he needed to keep going.
One day, after about a year of his daily visits, he couldn’t hold back anymore and kissed you, overjoyed when you kissed him back. He asked you out right after and you didn’t hesitate to say yes.
It was the best first date of your life, but to be fair you’d been hanging out and basically dating for almost a year, so it felt simple. Effortless and uncomplicated.
It was everything both of you needed. Your feelings for Steve were almost gone now, which is why you couldn’t even begin to explain what happened yesterday.
You were out with Bucky, hand in hand as you walked around the park, just enjoying the sunshine, when you could swear you saw Steve, not old Steve but your Steve, just standing there, looking at you and Bucky.
It was for a second, you merely glanced in his direction and by the time you turned back he was gone.
Bucky didn’t notice anything, if not only the way you tensed and stopped in your tracks.
You thought about telling him what you thought you saw, but even you knew how crazy you would’ve sounded. So you said nothing and shrugged it off.
Because it was nothing.
Right?

Believe
Pairing: Loki x female reader (Y/N) - established relationship
Summary: Your relationship with Loki hangs by a thread after he said things to you he regrets during an argument. He is desperate to apologize and find out if you still believe in your relationship.
Warnings: angst, possible end of a relationship, feeling unloved, things said in anger, regret, arguing
A/N: I know I'm supposed to be writing something but this song got stuck in my head and the story practically wrote itself... I'm sorry in advance for the angst but it will be okay, I promise 🥺
You lay on the couch and press your face to the pillow, letting your tears flow freely as you cling to the soft fabric tightly. Your chest tightens and your heart physically aches as if it is shattering into a million pieces. Loki's last words to you replay over and over in your mind.
Your apartment is silent except for the sound of your sobs until there is a short series of knocks on your door. Sitting up slowly, you wipe your eyes and look towards the door, shaking your head lightly. You sit motionless, unable to force yourself to get, unable to answer the door, unable to let Loki in. The tears continue to flow down your cheeks and he knocks again moments later.
It takes all the energy you can gather to push yourself up from the couch and walk to the door. You reach for the knob, the metal feels cool in your hand but you can't turn it. Letting go, you take a small step back and cross your arms against your chest.
Loki knocks a third time and you sniffle, wiping your eyes with the back of your hand then you cross your arms again. "You have said all you needed to say," you tell him through the closed door.
"Y/N, please," he responds softly, his hand resting on the wooden door. "Let me in."
"No," you say, shaking your head as if he can see you.
He is silent for a moment but you know he hasn't left. "I am still trying to figure out how to tell you I was wrong," he breaks the long silence, his heart pounding in his chest as he fears you will never open your door to him again. "Y/N, darling, I will do anything to prove to you how sorry I am. Please believe me, I did not mean what I said."
You don't answer, your mind and your heart instantly at odds as to how you should react. A part of you desperately wants to accept Loki's apology, to believe him when he says he never wanted to hurt you. That part wants nothing more than for everything to go back to the way it was only an hour ago, when you never doubted how much Loki loves you. The other part of you doesn't know if you can truly believe him. You had both said things in anger tonight but his words cut you so deeply, you couldn't help but fear they were true.
He gives you a few moments to respond but when you don't, he continues to talk to you through the closed door. "I said things that I didn't mean but you should've known me by now," he says and you turn, leaning your back against the door as you listen to him. "If you believed when I said 'I'd be better off without you' then you never really knew me at all. If you believed when I said that I wouldn't be thinking about you... you thought you knew the truth but you're wrong."
You close your eyes, sinking to the floor as you remember the moment those words left Loki's lips. Covering your face with your hands, you feel the tears you had been fighting to hold back since he arrived break free.
"Y/N," he says softly when he hears your sobs through the door. "I love you, you know I love you. I am so sorry."
I love you too, your heart screams but you don't let the words out. You squeeze your eyes closed tight, picturing the look on Loki's face when he realized what he had said to you. He instantly moved towards you but you backed away from him, keeping him at arms length. His eyes filled with regret, the anger you felt during the argument vanished and was swiftly replaced by a much more painful feeling in your chest.
"You're all that I need," he says, still hoping you are listening to him. "Please, just tell me that you still believe in us," he pleads.
You open your eyes and wipe your tears away, trying to taking a deep breath as your thoughts begin to race. You feel a wave of nausea as you can't help but wonder if this is the end of your relationship. Can you trust him? Do you believe him? You don't question if you love him, knowing the answer will always be yes.
"I know I can't undo the things that led us to this place," he adds, his tears trail down his cheek as he looks at the still closed door. "But I know there's something more to us than our mistakes. I know I'm so blind when we don't agree..." his voice trails off and he shakes his head, regretting every syllable of the words he said to you. "I swear to you, on everything in the nine realms, I will never again make you feel unloved or hurt so long as I live. Please, Y/N, let me in."
You stand slowly, wiping your face as you turn to face the door, your decision made.
"You're all that I want," he says, you can hear the pain in his voice, "You're all that I need. Just tell me that you still believe in us."
Loki stands motionless before you when you finally open your door, his eyes are red and only hold your gaze for a moment before he looks down. You step out of your apartment and touch his cheek lightly, lifting his head to see the tears he has shed.
"Y/N..." he says quietly, his eyes desperately searching yours to know what you are thinking. "Please believe me, I never meant to hurt you."
You wipe his fallen tears with your thumb then remove your hand from his soft skin. His breath catches at the loss of contact but you take his hand and his heart skips a beat. He slowly reaches for you with his other hand, wiping away your tears as you had done for him.
"I still believe in us, Loki," you tell him and the corner of his mouth curls up into a small, hopeful smile.

The inadequate act - Mr Reca
Gender neutral reader, Mr Reca may be out of character but screw it I thought this up. Happy ending I promise. Kind of suggestive at the end?
--
Being Mr Recas partner was difficult at times.
Specifically, it was difficult whenever someone fell in love with him to the point they would keep approaching him. You got with him as he was your best friend and you owed him a favour. He was fed up with people asking him out and not taking no for an answer.
So, you start dating, and you land up beginning to fall in love with each other. A pleasant surprise, you'd find out that he was a really good lover!
Unfortunately, one person who was an actor on a film Mr Reca directed also thought of him fondly.
A little too well. The actor thought Mr Reca loved them, to the point that during filming they found out your address to send flowers and gifts to. Your boyfriend brushed it off as an admirer at first, but you were uncomfortable with the idea of some stranger knowing where you lived.
And that's before the letters start - the gushy ones, the ones that rip your character apart, the ones that talk about how supposedly miserable Mr Reca was since your relationship started.
"What do you mean, 'it will stop soon'? This person keeps remarking on how I'm holding you back!" You huff, Mr Reca letting you speak your mind. "And why are you okay with this person continuously sending threatening letters to my - our - home?"
"Don't worry, darling. This is all going according to my plan." Mr Reca reassures you.
"Your plan for what? Breaking up with me?" You huff, Mr Reca unsure how to respond. "If you wanted to break up with me you could have at least told me yourself instead of getting an actor-"
"That's not what I was talking about!" Mr Reca roars, causing you to flinch. "I can't reassure you without ruining this plan. You'll just have to trust me."
"Relationships are about communication. If you can't even tell me of this plan of yours, how can I know you're not just trying to extravagantly break my heart?" You cross your arms, Mr Reca furrowing his brows before shaking his head.
"I would never embarrass you like that!" Mr Reca tuts, walking towards the door.
"You're leaving?" You ask, wincing after saying it as you realise you did create an uncomfortable house space via argument.
"We'll talk later." Mr Reca sighs, uncharacteristically quiet.
--
Hearing a knock on your door, you think it's your boyfriend. Opening the door, you're horrified to see the actor.
"I heard things haven't been too good between you and that director boy toy of yours?"
"Don't refer to my boyfriend like that. Besides, as an actor shouldn't you be able to maintain professionalism?" You retort.
"Well, just giving you a heads up, he's leaving you tonight. For me." The actor smirks. "I'm just here to get you to pack your bags. I'd help you, but I don't want to dirty my hands with your clothes."
"I want my boyfriend to-"
"Ex-boyfriend!" The actor corrects.
"To tell me himself. Not the homewrecker." You finish, closing the door before another word can be uttered.
--
Your boyfriend texted you, telling you to turn the TV to a channel. Taking a deep breath, you expect it to be a bit on your break up. He seemed rushed to test it to you, so it was obvious that this was running live.
"And today we have the honour of interviewing the one and only Mr Reca!" The interviewer smiles, the audience cheering and applauding.
"Mr Reca, I do hope I'm not intruding too much on your personal life, but can we get an update on your romance?" The interviewer starts. "You never confirmed publicly who it is you're dating, but there have been speculations online about an actor!"
You hear a series of ooh's in the audience, and you're reminding yourself to keep breathing as you watch on.
"Well, I am still happily in a relationship. With that being said, there has been a certain someone who's changed that." Mr Reca hums, waving for someone to be brought on stage.
To your understanding, it's the actor. They take a seat across from Mr Reca, and the way they're practically staring hearts at him makes you feel sick.
"It's so lovely for my boyfriend to make things official!" The actor giggles, the camera panning to Mr Reca who holds the most disgusted loom you've seen from him.
"And who is this boyfriend you speak of?" Mr Reca spits. "I've brought you here to address a concern."
"Thats right, Mr Reca!" The interviewer nods, turning to the camera. "This is not an interview like viewers will think. This is a PSA for those who cross both professional and personal boundaries."
"What is the meaning of this?" The actor chuckles, looking st Mr Reca as if they were innocent.
"My dear lover - not you, by the way - has been bombarded with horrible letters from you." Mr Reca sighs, the actor being cuffed. "The threats were serious enough, but to hear that you visited my partner to make them think I'm leaving them? For YOU?"
"How did you know about that?" The actor protests, the audience gasping.
"An admission of guilt. What a shame, I was hoping I could break your character down, however you are doing this all by yourself." Mr Reca laughs out. "Take them away, I'm filing a restraining order and therefore barring them from starring in any of my films."
"No, please, wait!"
"One final question." The interviewer asks, everyone on board as the screaming of the actor was far enough that it wasn't causing a big disruption. "Will we ever find out your lovers name?"
"The name I call them behind closed doors, or their real name?" Mr Reca jokes, before shrugging. "I'm afraid you'd have to ask them. I like having them to myself, after all."
"It was worth a try." The interviewer runs the back of their head before standing up to address the audience. "Thank you all for being here. Please enjoy the rest of your evening. Next up-"
You turn off the TV, the tears you only now realised were running down your face intensifying as you processed your boyfriend wasn't being dismissive, but rather taking things more seriously than you seemingly did. He got the law inforcement involved!
You think of how you could possibly apologise to him for being so harsh to him, for not trusting him, and you think a start would be by preparing a nice home cooked meal for him to enjoy when - if - he decides to come home tonight.
Before you can, however, you hear another knock on the door. Reluctantly opening the door, you see your boyfriend with a bouquet of flowers. He pushes the door open the rest of the way, eyes softening as he realises you've been crying, and he pulls you in for a hug before entering the home, closing the door.
Neither of you say anything, both of you just enjoying each others warmth as you begin to finally relax into him. You finally felt like you could relax, knowing the actor was not involved with your boyfriend at all.
"I thought about taking you out for dinner, but I think we can have much more fun at home." Mr Reca starts, caressing your face as you makes direct eye contact with you.
"Plus, I think actions speak louder than words for apologies."

I kept seeing glimpses of vigilantes after that night. Every Gothamite had a couple stories about seeing Masks, but five sightings in a week was weird, even after a villain prison break! So considering most of the major villains were behind bars or at Arkham at the time, and that most of these sightings were during the day, I was starting to get really weirded out. Signal made an amount of sense, but the rest of them were never seen during the day! And all of them just sort of standing around on rooftops and in alleys? Something was definitely up with the Gotham vigilantes.
I mentioned it to Jason once. Only once. I had seen Nightwing and Robin whispering together in the alley behind my work. The looks on their faces when they saw me was too funny, and Nightwing's gravely “we were never here” before they grappling-hooked away had me wheezing. But the look on Jason's face told me just how unfunny he found it; for a minute I was concerned that he might try to fight them. I decided it was best to keep the sightings to myself after that; they weren't hurting anyone, most of the time they didn't even talk to me, and I didn't want him doing something stupid. Jason was so protective, and I wouldn't have him get hurt because of me.
Our relationship confused me a bit; in some ways we were moving very fast, but in others it was like we were at a standstill. Every day started with a good morning text, and ended with a good night call. Soon he was coming over every few days; sometimes we would cook together, but usually he brought takeout with him. We would eat and discuss the books we'd selected on our mall date. He would sit next to me on the couch; our knees would touch when we turned to face each other. Our hands would touch when I passed him a plate or a glass. Sometimes he would set his hand next to mine on the couch, and I'd rest my fingers over his. Every night on his way out he hovered by the door, and every night I thought he might lean in for a kiss, or a hug, or something. Instead, he'd stare for a minute, his face would turn pink and he'd mumble out a ‘g’night Doll’ and duck out. It would have been cute if it wasn't so frustrating.
I thought I was putting out all the right signals; I turned toward him when he spoke, didn't pull away when our hands touched, scooted closer when he sat next to me, leaned forward just a bit at the door. I wasn't sure if he was shy or uncomfortable, but I certainly didn't want to make it worse, so I wasn't sure how to get things moving.
Finally, after two months of this, I decided it was probably best just to ask him about it. I told him not to bring dinner, got everything to make one of his favorite comfort foods, and made sure it was ready when he arrived. His knock was quieter than usual, I almost didn't realize he had arrived. When I opened the door he had an unusually blank look on his face, like he'd put on a Halloween mask of himself.
“Hey Jay, … you alright?” I frowned slightly, moving to let him in. He hesitated before stepping inside.
“Yeah, I'm alright. How ’bout you?”
I led him to the dining room where the food was laid out. “I had a good day. I made that chili you like, and I- … are you sure you're ok? You look a bit tense.”
I had turned back to see him staring at the table, like he wasn't sure what he was looking at. “... You … cooked?”
“Um, yeah? … I know we usually cook together if we're not getting takeout, but the chili takes a few hours and I didn't think we’d want to wait until midnight to eat … is that ok?”
“... Y- yeah, that's ok … sorry, I … I thought …” he frowned, like his thoughts were a particularly complex puzzle he was trying to put together. “... I usually bring food, so … when you said not to I guess I assumed the worst.”
“Oh… oh! Did you think I didn't want to have dinner together?” He nodded awkwardly, staring at the table. “Oh Jason! I'm so sorry; I just wanted to surprise you with the chili. I love getting to eat together, promise!”
I smiled gently, holding my hand out to him. He slowly reached out and took it, squeezing a bit. “Me too… you … you're too nice to me, Doll.”
“No such thing. You feel ok now?” he nodded, smiling a little, and we sat to eat. The tension slowly eased out of his back as he ate. I tried not to stare too much, it seemed to make him a bit nervous, but I loved the look on his face when he was enjoying a meal.
“... Jason, can I ask you something?”
“Sure?”
“... Is there a reason you haven't kissed me yet?”
He froze, looking over at me slowly. His cheeks were bright pink. “... W- was I supposed to?”
“Well, not necessarily supposed to, you don’t have to of course, but you could. … I just … Sometimes I think you will, but then it's like … you stop yourself? Is that right?”
“... I just … I don't …” he set his spoon down, chewing on his lower lip. “I'm … I don't want you to get hurt.”
I tilted my head a bit, confused. “... You're worried about hurting me?”
“Doll, I … you know who I am, right?” I nodded. “Do you … remember a few years back, I … was in the news alot?”
I nodded again; “yeah, … you were dead, and then you weren't.”
“... Yeah. I … I didn't … look like this before. … I was dead, and then I was back, and … I was suddenly in this body. I … I should be used to it by now, but I'm not. I still bump into things because I forget how big I am. I still break things when I think I'm being gentle. … I … I could seriously hurt you, and I don't want to, but … I don't know how to do any of this. I was a crime alley kid, and then I was learning to navigate life at Wayne Manor, and then I was dead. I've never done anything like this before, and I …” he took a deep breath, whispering; “I'm so worried I'm going to do something wrong, and you won't be able to forgive me…”
I slowly reached over, setting my hand next to his on the table. I hoped he’d take it, but I didn’t want to push. “... It sounds like you’ve been through a lot … too much.” He flinched a bit, looking away. “You had to figure out how to survive, and it sounds like you had to do it alone most of the time. … But you don’t have to figure this stuff out alone.”
His head jerked slightly, turning toward me but not looking up yet. “I don’t have a whole lot of experience either, but I think relationships are about figuring out life together.”
“... Most people don’t have so much they have to figure out though. You deserve better …” He whispered it, as if he was afraid I would agree with him.
I slid my fingers a bit closer to his, letting them rest against his just a bit. He didn’t pull away, but he didn’t take my hand either. “I would take this with you over anything else with anyone else.”
“... What if I can’t give you what you want?”
“What I want is for us to keep spending time together. Can we do that?” He nodded. “Then nothing else matters. We’ll do things as we’re ready for them. And if we’re never ready for something, if you’re never ready, it will not matter to me nearly as much as getting to keep this. Ok?”
He nodded slowly, looking at our hands on the table. He slowly flipped his hand over, finally letting mine slide against his palm. His thumb gently stroked my knuckles. “... I still don’t know how to do this though… What if I do something wrong?”
“What kind of ‘doing something wrong’ are you worried about?”
“.... What if I want something you don’t?”
“Then we’ll talk about it, just like this.”
“... I’m not good at talking things out.”
“You’re doing pretty good so far. And I’ll learn to read your body language for those days where you can’t find words for your thoughts. We’ll just have to be patient with each other. Ok?”
“... Ok.” He continued to stare at my hand in his, running his thumb over my knuckles delicately. “... Can … next time, can you tell me if you have a surprise for me? This was really nice, but … most surprises in my life haven't been good ones.”
I nodded. “Of course. No more surprises without some kind of warning.”
“Thanks ... I … I do want to kiss you, Doll …”
“I’d like that too.” His eyes slowly met mine, and for a brief moment I saw through the imposing man to the little boy he used to be; he wanted to love and be loved, wanted the easy touches and simple intimacies of normal life. But something between childhood and adulthood had obviously gone very, very wrong, and he had locked away those wishes to protect himself. The look in his eyes, like a dying man in the desert stumbling upon an oasis, broke my heart; being nervous in a new relationship was to be expected, but this was something else. Someone had hurt him, and if I ever found out who … I wasn’t entirely sure what I’d do, but I had a feeling I would end that day in handcuffs.
As quick as I saw it, that broken look in his eyes was replaced by a small glimmer of hope, and he slowly brought my knuckles to his lips. I could feel my face heating up as I watched his face; he seemed to be looking for something in my eyes.
“... M- my turn?”
He slowly nodded, letting me lean forward a bit. I guided his hand to my lips and, starting with the pinky, pressed a gentle kiss to the second knuckle of each finger. Jason stared me down, and with each kiss his face got pinker and pinker. When I placed the final kiss on his thumb his lips parted, releasing an almost inaudible high pitched whine.
In the next instant he had one hand in mine, and the other pressed firmly to his face to hide his bright red cheeks. I chuckled softly, offering him a coy smile; “that was a very pretty sound~”

Remember when I said I was going to sleep?
I lied
---
He banged on the door, not bothering with the doorbell or even knocking like a normal person. It had taken him a minute to wrap his head around what Tommy had said, and yes he had let him walk out the door, but damn it the conversation wasn't over.
"Tommy I know you're in there, your car is in the driveway!"
He waited a minute before banging again. Part of him was a little satisfied seeing the stained glass window above the door rattling in its frame.
"Tommy! The least you can do is hear me out!"
He debated going round the back and trying his luck there when the door opened.
Tommy's eyes were red and he looked about as good as Buck felt.
"Ev- Buck... What are you doing here?"
"Don't call me Buck." he pushed past Tommy into the house.
"Everyone calls you Buck."
"You don't. You've never called me that and you know how much that means to me."
Tommy sighed and sat down at his dining table.
"Please don't make this any harder than it has to be."
"Why? So you can just cut me out of your life? Pretend the last six months didn't happen? Is that what you want?"
He was angry and he started pacing up and down Tommy's living room
"No. That is the last thing I want... But I'm a realist."
"No, you're a coward. You got scared and you ran."
Tommy didn't say anything, just stared at his shoes.
"Maybe I am too impulsive, maybe suggesting moving in after 6 months was too much too soon. But I know how I feel. How I feel about you."
"Evan... You came out six months ago. I can't expect you to... Settle for me. There is a whole world out there for you to explore."
"Trust me, I've done plenty of exploring. I told you about the time I spent travelling around, working every job I could find... I didn't always sleep alone during that time. And even when I first started at the 118... I explored plenty."
"Maybe. But not with a man. I can't ask that of you. And... I don't think I can handle saying goodbye to you when you realise you want more from life than me. My heart is breaking now but it would destroy me having to let you go in six months or a year, or maybe even a few years if we're lucky. "
"So you just give up? You decide I'm not worth fighting for? That I don't know that I want forever with you just because I only discovered I'm bi six months ago?"
"That... That's not what I'm saying. Don't you think I want this? Want this with you?"
"Considering you dumped me about two hours ago... I don't know what to think." Buck crossed his arms in front of his chest and gave Tommy an expectant look. "I thought things were good between us."
"They were."
"Then what is the problem?!"
"I got scared ok?! I've been here before, and I don't mean Abby. I was in a serious relationship with a guy and... I was crazy about him. Things were good. So good. I thought it was forever."
Buck sat down on the other side of the table.
"What happened?"
"He... Didn't think we were forever. More like for now." Tommy shook his head. "He... He told me he couldn't be my first and my last. That we both had to see what was out there. He broke my heart."
"But I'm not the same person as your ex." Buck reached across the table, silently asking Tommy to take his hand. "I'm me. I know what I want and I want you. I don't know what the future holds for me and you... But I'd like to find out with you."
"Evan... I want that too but... I have to protect my heart. I mean it. I don't think I could handle losing you if having you in my life for only six months makes me feel like this."
"I'm not going anywhere." Buck told him resolutely. "These past six months have been some of the best of my life. We have fun together. You indulged me with that curse, you're friends with Eddie and Chim, you get the job, you get the lifestyle that comes with it... You get me."
Tommy turned to face him.
"Evan... I... I want to believe this so bad but... I don't know if I can."
"Don't you want to try? Give us both a real shot at happiness?" Buck asked. "I'm usually the one that gets scared and does something stupid... But I can be the sensible and reasonable one out of the two of us if that's what you need."
"You shouldn't have to change for me."
"But I have changed. For the better. You made me feel... Like me."
Tommy shook his head.
"You did that all by yourself."
"Maybe. But you helped. Having you by my side helped. You make me feel secure. You make me happy Tommy."
"You make me happy too." Tommy admitted, finally reaching out and covering Buck's hand with his own.
"Then don't throw this away because you got scared. I promise not to mention moving in together again for at least another six months." Buck joked, happy to get a small laugh from Tommy.
"Ok." Tommy said after a minute. "Ok." he repeated more confidently. "I guess I can be brave if you are."
Buck smiled and bought Tommy's hand to his lips and brushed a kiss over the knuckles.
"I was hoping you'd say that." he got up and rounded the table, stopping in front of Tommy. "Now we missed the movie again... But maybe we can just hang out here and watch something?"
"Yeah. Yeah I'd like that." Tommy said and met him halfway when Buck leaned down to kiss him.

Could you rank the TBP boys ( Ghost crew + Finney ) in a x render type of way , wich who will be more and less faster in proposing to their partner in a future ? Than you for reading, your writing inspires me <]
I’m so glad my writing inspires you!! This was absolutely a blast to write!! ‼️🫶 I did it as headcanons and x reader vibes!! It's a bit easier for me, but I will fix it when I get done with all my requests!! (I promise just pls remind me if I forget :( )
TBP BOYS AND WHO IS MORE OR LESS LIKELY TO PROPOSE IN A FUTURE!
BRUCE YAMADA
out of all the boys, I'd think Bruce would be the first one to propose to his partner!
He'd probably do it at once of his games after his team wins
Like those sappy marriage videos you'd see on your fyp
definitely made it a surprise for months.
Hell, he'd do it with a ring pop if it made you happy
literally asked you if you'd say yes if he married you one day
Silence lingered the field as Bruce and Y/N laid underneath the clouds. On a blanket that the ravenette had brought, a sudden questioned popped out of him. "Hey, Y/N? " He started, earning a hum in response from the other. "Do you think.. if one day in the future would you marry me? Or say yes?" He then asked, sitting up properly to face the other.
"Marriage? I never thought about it." Y/N responded, sitting up slightly, using their arms to hold themself up. It took them a couple seconds, but a smile formed on their face as they thought about it "I mean, yeah. You're sweet, kind, caring. Who wouldn't say yes to marrying you?" They then asked, tilting their head at Bruce.
Of course, Bruce smiled at the answer, nodding his head to it. Then it was official. He'd marry them one day. Whether with a ring pop or with an official ring. One day. He swore.
ROBIN ARELLANO
Robin, out of all the boys, was probably the 2nd one to even think of marriage.
Definetly plans it ahead with Finney or one of the other boys
no way did he plan it all on his own.
He'd be a bi nervous asking you about it, probably fidgeting or something
He knows his family isn't exactly on the richer side, so he's more nervous about getting an actual ring
since he wanted to join the war for his dad, he'd propose to you before he left for war.
Robin sat quietly in the park, tossing what looked like a ball in the air. He'd stole it from Bruce, well, more so found the ball near the baseball fields and claimed it as his own. Y/N Sat besides him, reading whatever sorts of book they had. Though they looked to Robin when hearing the boy speak to them.
"You ever think about marriage?" He'd ask them, no longer tossing the ball in the air and now looking to meet Y/N's eyes. He could see the slight look of confusion on their face, but tilted his head only. The gears were turning slowly in Y/N's mind as they fished for an answer.
Placing their book down into their lap and gently taking a hold of Robin's hands, they'd merely smile. "If this is your way of asking if we'll ever get married in the future, the answer's yes." Now that gave Robin the answer and motivation he needed to even think about the whole ring situation he'd been in.
BILLY SHOWALTER
Bily's a bit iffy on the whole marriage thing, but he'd eventually succumb to it!
He wants it to be perfect when he decides to marry you in the future
He'd try and ask earlier in the day, during one of the days he does his paper routes!
He writes the question down on a sticky note and puts said note in the paper
Look, he's nervous okay? he's trying his best.
Gets Griffin to try and help him out, when that don't work he goes to the others.
Placing his bike down gently on your yard, Billy made his way towards the comforting house you resigned in. He enjoyed it. Rover sat by the bike, waiting patiently as the dirty blonde made his way up to your steps. A small smile was on his face as he eventually knocked on the door, his smile widening more when you opened the door.
"Hey sunshine.” He’d greet. Sunshine was your nickname he’d given you after seeing you in the sunlight, specifically in his mother’s camera. So he stuck with the nickname Sunshine. Going into his bag and grabbing a newspaper, he held it out to you, smile remaining as he spoke again. “Here’s your pape for the day.” He spoke, faking a New York accent. Just for fun!!
He took a couple seconds before he would leave, smiling when he soon realized you had read exactly what he'd written on the sticky note. "Of course I'll marry you, Moonlight." You two were basically the sun and moon, and Billy knew exactly what kind of rings to get you two.
FINNEY BLAKE
Finney's a bit more cautious to get married, but he really wants to
He's just super nervous about it and doesn't know the exact way to approach
He tries to use anything you've told him to his advantage
He's one of the boys who has to read off of something, he's that shaky and nervous.
But when it comes to asking you about it during childhood, he asks you in the confinement of his room
You and Finney were currently sitting together in his bedroom, doing different homework for different classes. He was doing work for science, you were doing work for {subject}. Out of nowhere, in what sounded like a shaky tone, Finney spoke up. "Y/N? If we're still together in the future, and I asked you to marry me, would you say yes?"
The question was sudden, but it made a small smile form on Y/N's face as they placed their pencil down and sat up properly to look at Finney. "Yes. Yes I would." They spoke softly, reassuring the brunette boy. Of course he was nervous, gently taking their parents hands into their own.
"Of course I'd marry you."
GRIFFIN STAGG
Griffin's seen what marriage can do to a person.
So he's actually really fucking nervous to marry anyone,
He doesn't want it to end up like his parents marriage so he's super cautious to even think about marriage
Though he uses words in books to ask you if you would one day
you just gotta give him the time to not be so nervous and think about it
The library was you and Griffin's favorite place to go, or the cafe just outside of Denver. Anyone who knew Griffin knew how much the kid loved to read. In his hands now was a normal sized book. It was paperback, not being hardcover. The name of the book was "Blackmoore", the artist being "Julianne Donaldson". He had a calm look on his face as you read whatever you had chosen to grab, whether it was horror, drama, romance, etc.
After a couple seconds, Griffin gently tapped the table, trying to get y/n attention, and when he did, he slid the book over, his index finger pointing to what he wanted y/n to pay attention to. A quote stated, "“You are brave and loyal and true. You have such a good heart." He held my hand close to his chest and covered it with his other hand. "It is only afraid. But I would take such good care of it, love, if you would give it to me."
Just seeing how he was hinting about something including marriage, it made y/n chuckle as they watched Griffin mess with his hands. Gently tapping the table and catching Griffin's attention, Y/N would sign(ASL) "I'd marry you if it meant you were always smiling."
VANCE HOPPER
Vance saw what marriage did to his parents, so he's not really excited to think about it
His parents aren't even divorced yet, but he still is nervous
He doesn't want his marriage to end up like his parents
he also doesn't trust his parents to show up if they ever got married
asks you while at the grab n'go
"Hey, babe." Vance was first to speak, even if all of his attention was focused on the pinball machine he'd love. A soft hum escaped Y/N as they looked at Vance, their brow raised and head tilted. "If I beat my high-score, you think one day you'd marry me?" He questioned.
Which resulted in soft chuckles escaping Y/N. They weren't laughing at Vance, no. They were laughing at the fact Vance was willing his high score for it. A soft hum escaped before they answered the blonde's question.
"If you can beat it by the time we're adults, babe." They replied, letting out even more soft laughs and nodding their head. "Then yeah, if you can, I'll say yes."

my masterlist
Cw: mentions reader's grandparents' health issues, mentions the situation with McLaren and Daniel, insomnia
Tag list: @myloverjk-blog
"Hey, Y/N!", James called you once he saw you walk by his classroom, "hey", you greeted back, adjusting your books on your arms.
"There is a new kid, I'm sure you know, Oscar Piastri his name is, and apparently he's staying the long weekend too, like you", he trailed off, not knowing if he was stepping further than he should.
"Yes, I am staying, it's okay to talk about it", you gave him tight lipped smile, "well, I was hoping you'd keep him company - he's a bit shy, but he's very fun to be around and the teacher also thought it would be good since you're both staying", he reasoned as you nodded.
You had to stay back because your grandparents didn't live in England, and because of their old age and problems that naturally arose with that, your parents had to fly out and spend sometime with them, meaning you didn't have anyone back home, so you stayed. As for Oscar, you found out that he was staying back because his family was in Melbourne.
"At first, I just had online schooling, but it got trickier to manage and my dad needed to go back to work so I had to stay back", he explained when you asked him why he was there, "and I hope I can focus on racing, but you already know that", he scoffed softly.
"I don't think I do, I'm sorry", you narrowed your eyes, genuinely unaware of what he was talking about.
After he told you all about his career until that moment, as well as his hopes and dreams, he chuckled, "you really didn't know?", he wondered.
"I didn't! The girls said something about you moving here but I didn't listen much, I'm not that into gossip and my memory is like Dory's, I can never keep up with the latest who likes who and who flirted with what's his face", you earnestly replied.
For the first time since he arrived at the school, he felt like he could really trust someone and he could hope for new friendships on this side of the world.
You were there for his final race in F4, clapping at him on the podium, and even F3 and F2 despite your university deadlines, always making sure you could support him in every way you could.
"Hey, Osc", you said over the phone, setting your pen down the desk and swivelling in the chair. You wanted to get as much knowledge and experience as possible, so you applied to do a internship in a physiotherapy clinic near your apartment during the summer.
"Hey, Y/N, how are you doing?", he asked as you could notice the antsyness on his voice.
"I'm good, it's a bit of a slow day here, my supervisor said I could read up on a few articles", you mused, "is everything okay?", you asked.
"I was wondering if you wanted to have dinner tonight", he began, "you can come to my flat if that's okay, I'll order something in since I can't be trusted in the kitchen", he suggested.
"Fine by me, I'd like that, sounds really nice", you smiled, "I'll see you soon, then", you added, not wanting to dwell much on the fact that he didn't answer your question.
When you left the clinic, you walked to Oscar's place since the sun had graced you for the day and it was still nice to be out. Knocking on the door, you waited for him to open it, "I'm still in my scrubs as I didn't see the need to change", you said as you walked inside, hugging Oscar after dropping your backpack on the floor.
"Hey, you look nice, don't worry about it", he smiled as he led you to the living room, "I had to go and get the take out myself, but it's still warm", he said as you sat at the dining table.
"Now can you tell me if there's something wrong?", you wondered as you poured some of the wine he kept for you at his place on your glass.
"I have something to tell you actually", he played with his glass while he fought the smile on his lips, "this weekend I finally had some conversations with McLaren", he began.
"McLaren?", you asked as you served yourself of the food in front of you, taking some bimi brocoli and then some of the warm noodles.
"Yes, McLaren. We finally spoke about contracts and, this morning, I signed the official driver contract for next season", he stated as if he was saying that the sun had been out today.
"You did what? Since when has this been in the works?", you gasped, dropping the kitchen utensils and looking at him intently, "you're driving for McLaren next season?", he nodded, "like, driving on track? Oh my Goodness, Oscar! That's amazing!", you got up and hugged him, "why didn't you lead with that?", you pinched the nape of his neck playfully as you kept the tears from falling from your eyes. This was his dream and he was getting to live it as early as the end of the year when pre season preparations began.
"I didn't want to tell you over the phone", he shrugged his shoulders.
"But how? This is huge, Oscar!", you smiled, your teeth showing and eyes squinting with how high your cheeks rose.
"There were a lot of conversations about it, specially the last few weeks", Oscar explained, "they still want to keep it quiet", he warned.
"So you're driving alongside Lando?", you wondered. You only followed motorsport and the Formula series because of your bestfriend, so the assumption you made was based on what you had seen and read.
"Yes, hence why they want to keep it quiet, I've only told you and my family", he mentioned, "my manager knows that, obviously, but I really need you to keep quiet about it", he smiled.
"Absolutely, don't worry!", you assured, "this is so amazing Oscar! You're going to drive in Formula One! Aren't you amazed?", you beamed.
"I put in the work too, you know?", he dramatically feigned offense as you hugged him tighter, "this is your dream, Osc", you cooed, letting the tears fall freely down your cheeks as you swayed you both around, "I'm so proud of you", you hiccuped, holding his head close to your lips so you could kiss his forehead.
"Let's eat, this is getting cold", your best friend urged as the situation for more intimate and brought you closer and closer to the thing he had been avoiding for nearly a year.
The feelings he had been arbouring for you weren't just friendship. How could he keep himself from being in love with you? You had been there with him and for him when he was alone in a new country, being the other shy kid that spent the long weekend im boarding school, and since then you had been attached by the hip. You were kind, caring, intelligent, beautiful inside and outside and anyone would be a fool to not see why Oscar felt the way he did about you.
.
"I'm just going to a training camp, Y/N, I do these every year!", Oscar reasoned as you groaned.
"Who am I going to complain to about university? Or how noisy my neighbours are? I'm going to die of boredom", you stated, "when you come back, I will have ceased to exist because of boredom and lack of attention", you exaggeratedly threw yourself on your sofa.
"You won't, silly", he chuckled, pulling you up since his trainer was picking him up soon, "you're going to go out and enjoy yourself, okay? You'll barely notice I'm gone", he tried as you helped him with his suitcases down to the door.
"I'll miss you", you muttered as you hugged him, "enjoy your training camp!", you smiled as you pulled away, waving at him before you made your way to your place.
Getting on with the project you had to hand in at the end of the week, you got it all through to the end, leaving time to proofread later.
You clicked on the folder where you kept your photos and videos, looking through them and reliving all of the memories you had in there.
Most of them had Oscar somehow, wether it was a screen grab from one of your FaceTime calls when he was at races, picnics in the park and lazy days at your place.
You had to admit it, for your sake and Oscar's sake as your friendship was on the line. At first you thought it was just the fact that a boy seemed to want to spend time with you, so you put it to that. Recently, however, things changed perspective and you felt stronger feelings and emotions when you thought about him.
You loved spending time with him and cherished every single hour he chose to spend with you whenever he didn't have racing related duties. Every time he hugged you, you clung just a little longer to feel hia body against yours and his arms enveloping you.
Whenever someone approached you in the rare times you went out clubbing with your friends, "I have a boyfriend" became more a wish and a need rather than some made up excuse to get guys to leave you alone.
So, to sum it up, you either had an honest conversation with him or continued to dwell on feelings you couldn't keep to yourself.
.
"Y/N just sent me a picture of her notes, can you believe they ask them to know all of that?", he showed his trainer Kim while they had lunch after a strenuous workout.
"I had to learn most of that, too", he said nonchalantly, not necessarily diminishing your competences and intelligence but letting Oscar know that maybe his infatuation with you had a source elsewhere.
"Y/N is very smart, I'm sure she'll do really well - oh, she sent me a picture, she's all dressed up!", he said as he inspected the mirror picture. He assumed it was a requirement for your presentation, as you usually preferred comfy attire, since you had a pair of trousers and a shirt, some small heels on your feet and your bright smile that left him feeling butterflies in his stomach every single time, "she looks gorgeous", he said as he texted you the same words along with wishes of good luck.
"Something you'd like to say?", Oscar quesioned when he felt Kim's eyes on him as he put the phone back on the table, screen down.
"I'm just here wondering why you're not together", the trainer offered simply after he wiped his mouth on the napkin.
"No, we are not together, at least not yet", he mused. The thought had crossed his mind, admitting how he felt about you before the season began. If everything went belly up and you didn't feel the same and didn't see him that way, he would occupy his time and channel all of his energy into racing; if you did feel the same, he would have been worrying for nothing and would have a extra spring up his step for his first season in Formula One.
"Good to know you're working on it", Kim waved his fork at Oscar, "now we need to finish this and we'll do some recovery stretches", he announced as Oscar groaned, prolonging his meal as long as he could.
.
Today, Oscar was coming back from Lanzarote and you couldn't wait to speak to him. Lately, it all dawned on you.
It happened a couple of nights ago, a slight insomnia episode keeping you up when you thought about what things would be like from now on. Oscar would travel a lot more, and he would be in a much public role compared to his previous one. It would seem stupid to other people, but a lot more people would know him, and you were sure they would fall in love with him. How could they not? Hence why you wanted to quit those thoughts while you were ahead of them.
I'm on the cab to your place, it should take another 10 minutes and Can't wait to see you, Oscar texted you just as you finished tidying your living room.
You missed him dearly, so when you threw yourself into his arms, you didn't let go as he kicked his suitcases into your apartment while still holding close to him, "I kind of need to get my backpack off my back, and I can't do that if I don't set you somewhere - only for a bit at the very least", Oscar suggested after trying to balance you against his body with one arm but he didn't feel safe enough to let you go without you falling.
Reluctantly, you got back down, feet back on the floor as he discarded his backpack before he tapped your hip twice, "up again, I want a proper hug", he mumbled as you jumped back, his hands protectively holding your thighs up as he nuzzled his face on your neck, "I need you so, so much", he sighed.
"I missed you too", you replied back, "and I don't ever want to miss you like this when I don't know how to feel about you", you forwarded. Now or never, you thought as you jumped out of his hold and faced him.
"I missed you like I have never missed you before, not even when you go a visit your family or when you went away for triple headers - and I've been trying to understand why and I finally realised what it was. I like you, more than friends like eachother - for Goodness' sake, I'm in love with you", you chuckled nervously as you admitted it out loud to him, "and everyone else will love you too - I just know it -, so soon enough you won't be my Osc anymore and I couldn't not tell you. People - and these gorgeous girls all over the world - are going to like you so much and I won't be able to compete with them, so I'm just telling you how I feel. You can leave if you want or we'll just stay here in silence of that works too, but I needed to admit my feelings", you let out in one go.
Oscar smiled, a big teeth and gums showing smile as his eyes crinkled at your words, "I'm not leaving, and we are not going to be silent - at least immediately - because I want to tell you how I feel", he began, "I'm in love with you too; I have been for about two years and only realised it a year ago, and I don't want to pretend anymore. I want to be able to kiss you, to hug you, to take you with me wherever possible, to sleep next to you, to argue with you, I want all of it. With you", he said, hand cupping your cheek as his eyes asked for consent to kiss your lips.
It was as you dreamed it would be, soft, gentle and caring, lips moving in sync as you held him by his waist, pulling him closer to you.
"I thought I was loosing you to the whole F1 fandom", you chuckled, looking up at him once you pulled away.
"Of course you won't, you're my best girl", he winked, "this is just the beggining for us", he added as he pulled you to cuddle on the sofa, sharing his stories of the past days as you revelled in the feeling of being in his arms.

You stood at the entrance of Suga's run-down, yet aesthetically-looking office in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown.
After an abundance of incidents, you begun working as his assistant and right-hand woman in his underground operations to take down Asia Pacific Police Detective Agust D, who moonlights as a mafia leader on the down low. A mafia leader who looks exactly like him. Someone you used to be acquainted with at some point.
As you pushed open the ornate wooden door slightly, you found Suga lying down on the sofa, engrossed in an erotic women's magazine. His face adorned with his signature mischievous smirk as he turned a few pages. Men, you thought to yourself while trying to prevent a scoff from coming out your lips.
"Yoongi," you called out, your voice cutting through the silence of the room. Since you two were closer compared to his other men, you called out to him by his real name often.
Startled, Yoongi quickly closed the magazine and tossed it aside, his expression shifting to one of mild annoyance. "Hey doll, can't you knock? I was in the middle of something." Doll, his endearing nickname for you always made you feel some type of way.
You raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence as you crossed my arms. "Oh, I'm sorry, Boss. I didn't know reading Playboy magazines was part of your daily agenda." you commented sarcastically, rolling your eyes in the process.
Yoongi's cheeks flushed slightly, caught red-handed by his sharp-witted assistant. He cleared his throat, attempting to regain his composure. "It's...research. Yeah, research on...current trends."
You couldn't help but chuckle at his unusually flustered response. You sauntered closer, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Well, Boss, if you're done 'researching,' perhaps we can focus on more pressing matters?"
Yoongi let out a deep sigh, realizing he had been caught in his moment of leisure. "You're right, doll. Let's get down to business.” He moved from his position and straightened up his posture, all business-mode Suga once again. “What's the latest update on Agust?"
As you provided a detailed report on Agust D’s actions, you couldn't help but notice a twinkle of amusement in Yoongi's eyes. He had always been a man of few words, but his gaze held a silent appreciation for your wit and fearlessness in this line of work. Since meeting Yoongi, your professional relationship with him had always been one of mutual respect and trust, despite the dark world you both inhabited.
"You've done well, doll," Yoongi finally acknowledged at the end of your report, his voice laced with admiration. "I appreciate your dedication in doing this. This isn’t easy work, especially with so many eyes and ears working for Agust."
Your heart swelled with pride, knowing that your efforts were recognized by your boss, your leader. However, you know you can’t be feeling a certain type of way over his innocent comments. You took a step closer, your voice lowering to a whisper. "Boss, may I remind you that there are eyes and ears on you too? It's crucial to maintain a certain level of decorum and professionalism."
Yoongi's lips curled into a sly side smile, his gaze locking with yours. "You're absolutely right. We should be more careful, especially when it comes to our private activities."
Your eyes widened in realization, understanding the underlying meaning in Yoongi's words. He can’t be trying to insinuate something, right? Being the brat you are, you decided to play along with his statement . A playful grin spread across your face as you sat on the opposite side of the sofa, crossing your arms once again.
"Well, Boss, if you're looking for some 'private activities,' you could always start by hiring a proper assistant to keep you entertained."
Yoongi's eyebrows shot up, surprised by your audacity. A flicker of amusement danced in his eyes as he leaned back on the sofa. "Is that so? And who would you recommend for the position?"
You pretended to ponder for a moment, "Perhaps someone who knows your every move, can anticipate your needs, and can effortlessly keep you on your toes…”
“Someone like… you?" Yoongi smirked as he leaned closer, his voice filled with mischief. Your cheeks flushed with a mix of shyness and shock that he played this far into your game. "Well, in that case, I suppose I'll have to interview you for the position."
Damn, he got you cornered. Was this a dream, you thought to yourself. Usually when you’d have playful banter with Yoongi, he’d edge you on with his words and then immediately move onto business. But right now you’re left speechless.
“Cat got your tongue?” He chuckled. Funny words coming from the same man who looked and acted like a cat himself at times.
“N-No..just.. dumbfounded.” You stumbled on your nervous response before giggling, “You got me good, Yoongi.” And this is where the game ended, or so you thought.
Yoongi locked eyes with you as he reached out and gently grasped your trembling hand. His touch sent a jolt of electricity through you, causing your breath to hitch. He tugged your hand gently, coaxing you to move closer to him.
"Doll," he said softly, his tone laced with a mix of authority and tenderness. "There's no need to get so shy around me all of a sudden."
Feeling a mixture of panic and excitement, you allowed Yoongi to guide you closer until you stood right in front of him. In a swift yet gentle motion, Yoongi pulled you onto his lap, your legs straddled him. Your heart pounded in your chest as you found yourself nestled against him, his arms wrapped protectively around your waist.
Yoongi's voice, now filled with a soothing warmth, resonated in your ear. "You may act bratty and shy, doll, but I can see through your facade. I know you're into this” He used one hand to brush a strand of hair behind your ear, “And I'm more than happy to oblige."
Your eyes widened, breath catching in your throat at his bold words. Yet, you couldn't deny the exhilarating truth behind them. A mix of embarrassment and desire coursed through your veins as you looked into Yoongi's eyes, your own filled with a mix of uncertainty and longing. You’ve been waiting for a moment like this for so long, but it felt silly to even believe it could happen one day. Let alone on a day where you catch Yoongi looking at porn. Sounds too good to be true.
In that moment, Yoongi tightened his hold on you and gently lifted you up a little. He glanced at you wholly, taking in the sight before him. He had always thought you were beautiful since the first day you encountered him in the night market while he was being chased by Agust D’s men. He too, didn’t imagine he’d have you to himself, but somehow the sexual frustration of not having time to pleasure himself pushed a button in him to try to make a move.
He continued his movements by sliding his hands above your waist, approaching the peaks of your breasts. The soft touch sent shivers down your spine, and a blush crept across your cheeks. He looked at you to see if you were okay with moving further, to which you locked eyes with him and nodded your confirmation.
He began fondling your breasts slowly, tracing patterns of desire along your trembling flesh. His large hands on you felt so good it elicited soft gasps of pleasure from your lips. But you craved more. You wanted to feel him closer, and it seemed that he felt the same. He moved his hands to unbutton your sleeveless button front shirt from the top to bottom and then removed the garment completely.
Under the shirt revealed a white floral lace bra with a cute pink ribbon in the center. "You know, doll," he murmured, his voice husky with desire, "Your bra is surprisingly cute." The sudden comment from Yoongi made your cheeks flush even more with a mix of embarrassment and pride. “It contrasts your workaholic demeanor. It’s nice to see a new side to you.”
Flushed and with a playful glint in your eyes, you mustered the courage to break free from your momentary shyness. With a teasing smile, you looked at Yoongi and whispered, “Shut up and just keep going,”
To which he smirked up at you and did just as you commanded. He went ahead and removed your bra, exposing your breasts to the slightly colder room temperature causing your nipples to pebble slowly. Yoongi groaned, squeezing your breasts together, and sucked a nipple between his lips.
Mesmerizing sounds left your mouth when he flicked your nipple with his tongue and gently bit down. His tongue swirled around your sensitive areola, teasing it to a stiff peak as he cupped and massaged your other breast with one hand. Holding yourself steady with your fingers weaved through his pretty, long dark hair, you leaned back and arched your chest in toward his face.
You craved more besides these touches to your delicate breasts, but fearing changes in your ‘boss and right-hand man’ relationship with Yoongi had you hesitating further. You moved your hands to the top of his shoulders to push him away from your chest. “Maybe we shouldn’t keep going, Yoongi.” You looked at him, before deciding to look away and continue speaking, “We’ve been focused on taking down Agust D, and if we do this… it might get in the way of our goals.”
Yoongi let out a deep chuckle, “You know goals are one thing, but you think I haven’t noticed the way your body language radiates when you’re around me.”
Your eyes widened, “W-What do you mean?” You weren’t being that obvious about these underlying work crush feelings, have you?
“The way you carry yourself when we tease each other? When you sway your ass in your little skirts to get me riled up?” He lifted a brow up inquisitively, hands drawing circles on your thighs to carry his point home. “I know you too well to know you want this too.”
You scoffed, “Hah? Yoongi, I think all the porn mags and hentai mangas you’ve read during your free time has gotten to your head.” You cupped his face with your small palms (in comparison to his large hands) and looked at him intently. “Maybe it’s time to ease up on that, sir.”
“I’m serious, doll.” He grabbed your hands away from his face and stared harshly, “I'd rather have you in my arms, feeling your warmth against me, than flipping through those Playboy magazines during my free time."
Literally, no words could release from your lips. You’re just awestruck that this carefree man who threw witty and sarcastic remarks on a daily basis could have conjured such a confession to you. You found it endearing in a way, knowing his exterior is just a facade and inside lies a compassionate soul named Min Yoongi.
At this moment, you decided to surrender, allowing yourself to be consumed by the passion growing between the two of you. Embraced in the untamed fire that blazed in Yoongi's eyes. “Then, keep going. Waiting to see how you’ll keep me entertained.”
Quickly, Yoongi's lips descended upon yours, the kiss ignited an unknown sensation inside of you. The taste of anticipation lingered in the air as your mouths melded together in a fervent fight. His lips, soft yet demanding, explored every contour of yours, coaxing forth sighs of pleasure that escaped each others’ entwined breaths.
Feeling a bit assertive, you gently bit his lips as a signal for him to allow your tongue to intertwined with his, to which he smiled and let you in. Both your movements synchronized, a blend of dominance and tenderness. However, which each stroke of his tongue, he claimed your mouth, marking you as his own in a surge of possessiveness that sent shivers cascading down your spine.
As your bodies pressed closer, the intensity and eagerness to have him inside you grew. You once again let your fingers find solace in the soft strands of Yoongi's hair, tugging a bit which he responded to with a groan. Breaths mingling with the heady mix of desire that filled the room. Your hips meet Yoongi’s hard cock, visibly straining against his demin jeans, as you begin lightly grinding against him, needing to relieve yourself of this feeling blooming in your abdomen.
However, unbeknownst to you, Yoongi had other plans in mind. He suddenly held down your thighs to prevent you from moving further. You whine at him, frustrated.
“Doll, I’m not gonna fully give you what you want right now.” The mischievous glint in his gaze betrayed his desire for retribution. He saw an opportunity to playfully punish you for catching him indulging in the guilty pleasure of his magazine. “Since you interrupted me earlier, I’m only going to let you sit on my cock as punishment. No riding.”
“Are you serious right now–” You paused, Yoongi lifting an inquisitive brow up in response. If you kept arguing with him, his stubborn self will deprive you of everything at this moment, his desires be damned. The thing you didn’t need right now was for him to command you to watch him jerk off or leave the room and go find someone else to fulfill his needs. “...Fine, Boss. Your wish is…my command.” You sighed, gripping his shoulders.
“Condom?”
“No, it’s okay. I take birth control.” He eyed you intently. “NOT for what you think. I take it to regulate my cycle.” You responded, annoyed while he chuckled. Not like you had the time to be fucking people left and right in this high stakes job you had. You take your role very seriously, mind him.
He lifted you so he’s able to lift his own hips up to pull his pants down. He pulled his dick out and you stared at how it sprung up against his stomach, almost to full hardness already. It’s so thick and fat, you thought to yourself. You had imagined how he’d look underneath his clothes, but your thoughts never compared to the [reality of his] pale pink dick with small drops of precum at the top of the head. Yoongi took note of your glances and exhaled harshly. He slid his hands up your thighs to the hem of your skirt and pulled it to where your pink striped panties came into his sight.
“You’re seriously so cute, you know that?” You mumbled a shut up as your cheeks reddened from his continued compliments. He pushed your panties to the side, placing two fingers teasingly at your entrance, collecting the wetness that you already displayed. "Do you need to be prepped more? Or can you take my cock without it?" He locked eyes with you as he slipped his two fingers easily in, quickly causing your walls to tighten around his digits.
“I-It’s fine, Yoongi,” You moaned his name quietly. You knew you were wet enough from the previous motions that you could do without it. “Just put your dick inside me already so we can call it a day.." He raised his eyebrows at your commanding attitude. "P-Please..”
Chuckling, he pulled his fingers out and grabbed your hips again. He took his throbbing dick in his hand and lined it up to your entrance. He sunk you down, slowly taking him in inch by inch, the thickness stretched you out more than you expected. You moaned out as quietly as you could, still struggling to fit all of him inside you. Yoongi kept a hand on your hips to guide you down, while the other caressed your back in reassurance.
"Keep going, love." Love? A new nickname? "You’re doing great." He praised, while trying his best to hold in beautiful sounds of his own.
With his encouraging words, you took a deep breath and moved down until your pussy had swallowed him whole, his head right against your cervix. "Just right…you did it," Yoongi cooed. He cupped your cheeks and made you look at him. "How does this feel?"
You’re starting to lose composure already, "I-It feels g-good…" you stammered, dragging out the last word while letting your eyes roll to the back of your head.
"Great, but..” He stretched out to grab the D-Grayman vol 22 manga lying around on the table “Don’t you dare move. I’m gonna read."
“I can’t believe you… you sick, sick man.” His laughter rolled through him, which involuntarily created a ripple of pleasure building within your cunt, a warmth growing again and spreading through your every nerves. Besides the fact that his warm cock was snug within you, filling you more completely than a dildo of yours could ever, you couldn't recall another moment where you’ve felt so content. While at first you were scared of crossing a line in your relationship, you can’t deny this feels just right.
He wrapped his right around your waist, while using his left to hold his book and flip the pages. Perks of having big hands, you wonder what else they could do. You laid your head on his right shoulder, eyes slowly squeezing shut. Maybe you should take a nap.
However, while Yoongi seemed to be nonchalant and relaxed, he was struggling a lot more than you to not say fuck this and fuck you roughly in a cowgirl position. Because just as you were relaxing, suddenly his cock fucking twitched. You gasped, your cunt clenching involuntarily and wrapping tighter around his length. A shiver shot up your spine as you instinctively pushed back on him, taking him even deeper into you from a higher angle.
“Yoongi, I swear..”
“Sorry. That was on me, doll.” He went back to reading before adding on a few minutes later, “I’m tempted to fuck you, but I’ll save it for another time. If I give in now, I’ll probably want to fuck you everywhere and anywhere we go. Want to teach you a lesson.”
“Yoongi!” Your eyes widened and you smacked his back. He chuckled lowly. Pisces men really are lowkey sex freaks. You don’t know what you’d do if this man asks you if he can tie you up with ropes or vice versa. Let’s hope he’s just into vanilla shit for the sake of your sanity,
For the rest of the time, he stayed true to his word and remained resilient. At some point, you drifted off to dreamland, feeling so comfortable and cozy sitting on his dick. You faintly felt a kiss on your temple, though you’re not sure if you dreamed it, or if Yoongi actually did it. You didn’t bother thinking too much about it now.
The next thing you know, you woke up later that afternoon, laying down on the sofa with a blanket covering you. You glanced around to find Yoongi, but he was nowhere in sight. You checked your phone on the table and saw text messages from 35 minutes ago
Yoongi: Hey doll, got a call from joon saying he found the drug operation Agust D is hiding above that one good noodle shop in chinatown. I had to go with him and some of the guys ready to bust it down. I’ll be sure to to get you a bowl of noodles when I’m done.
Yoongi: Extra beef and very spicy, right?
God, you’re actually gonna fall in love with this man. He really does pay attention to the little details about you more than you realized.
You text back knowing he’s probably not going to be back for a bit longer.
Y/N: Yes pls! Don’t forget to bring some chopsticks.
Yoongi: 👍
Not long after, before the sun sunk underneath the horizon, he arrived back to the office holding a bag of take-out food from Asian Beef Noodle shop. “Sorry to keep you waiting. We got everything taken care of.”
Your eyes lit up with admiration as you sat up on the couch, your lips curling into a grateful smile. "Great job, boss."
Yoongi's gaze softened as he placed the tray of noodles on the coffee table in front of you. He took a seat beside you, his shoulder brushing against yours. "I appreciate your support, doll. So, I brought these noodles as a small peace offering."
"You're forgiven, I suppose,” You chuckled, voice filled with soft warmth. “Noodles are easily the best way to my heart."
Your playful comment sent a spark of anticipation through Yoongi. He grinned, a glint of mischief dancing in his eyes. "Well, I’ll make it up to you later, for being so good. Look forward to tonight," he whispered, his voice laced with a sultry tone.
Your cheeks flushed at the promise in his words, your gaze meeting his with a mixture of desire and excitement. “You’re making me embarrassed,” you sighed, replying further with a sultry voice with anticipation. “But, you better not disappoint. I’ll leave your side!” You joked, both of you laughing at the silliness of this conversation
Despite the fluttering emotions from earlier reawakening from his words, you two continued to share a comfortable silence, the aroma of the noodles filling the air. With a newfound sense of closeness, you two dug into the delicious meal, savoring the flavors and basking in the afterglow of their earlier passion. It was a moment of shared contentment, where the chaos of both your lives momentarily faded away, leaving only the warmth of connection and comfort of each other's presence.

❛❛ In which; Dottore got turned into a kid... ❜❜
✎ ❛❛ How's the weather down there, doc? ❜❜
Pairing(s): Dottore x GN!Reader
Genre/Format: Crackfic (oneshot)
Warning(s): Use of Dottore's (speculated) real name
wc: ~1.2k
Notes: Just something random I wrote lol. Saw some art on Pinterest and omg KID DOTTORE IS SO FREAKING ADORABLE AHAKDSHAJAKSJDDOS
During nights where Dottore would get held up in his lab, you'd sit on the bed and read one of your favorite books as you wait for him to come back. However, today seemed to be… different.
You just finished reading your book and when you looked at the time, it was already way past when Dottore would usually come back. You knew he's a genius man, whatever happened he could easily defuse the problem. But even so, you couldn't help but worry about him sometimes.
Getting up from your bed, you decided to put on a coat before making a trip to where you thought he'd be. As you made your way down to the hallway that leads you to his lab, you could hear a bunch of people arguing, among them a voice higher than the rest stood out.
"What do you mean you can't fix it?!"
"I've read every piece of research paper and I couldn't find anything!"
"Skill issue."
"Oh my Tsaritsa, all of you shut your damn mouths! You're giving me a headache!"
"You're a goddamn clone you can't even get a headache!"
All the voices quickly disappeared when you knocked on the door. Not waiting for a response, you grabbed the door handle and entered the lab.
"Dear? Is everything alright—"
You stopped talking as soon as you saw the mess in his lab. Papers and books were scattered across the room; vials that held unknown liquids were hastily put on the counter; shards of glass were shattered on the floor.
And the very person you were looking for was nowhere in sight.
What caught your attention the most were Dottore's segments that now had their gaze on you, gathering around in a circle in the middle of the room. They were standing pretty close to one another to the point where their shoulders touched so you weren't able to see past what their towering figures were blocking from your view.
After a few minutes of staring, you managed to mutter out, "Uh, what… happened here?"
One of the younger segments—Delta, who wore a black and white mask spoke up, "Nothing to worry about, darling! Aren't you supposed to be in your room right now? What brings you here?"
"Well, Prime is taking longer than usual to come back so I decided I'd come to check on him. Speaking of which, where is he anyway?" You asked, getting a bit closer to the group.
Upon the mention of Prime, all of the segments looked a bit more visibly stressed.
Before you got too close, Theta (another younger segment), who was reading through some papers nearby, stepped in front of you with a smile.
"Oh, you know, Prime is doing his usual, um, Prime… things…?" His sentence ended with a nervous chuckle.
"Oh really?" You crossed your arms.
They were definitely hiding something.
Walking around Theta, you attempted to approach the group once more. Before you could do that, Theta stepped in front of you again.
"Why- Why don't I escort you back to your room, dear? It's two in the morning and I'm pretty sure you're tired."
"I will go back when I make sure Prime is alright."
"He is—"
You gently pushed past Theta while the other segments were trying to convince you to not get close to them.
But to their horror, you managed to squeeze through their bodies and look at what they were hiding.
You gasped.
In the middle, there sat a kid who looked to be ten with short blue fluffy hair and a pair of huge red eyes. His arms were crossed and he looked grumpy.
He looked almost exactly like the other younger segments, albeit his obviously smaller size and had a rounder face.
As far as you'd know, Dottore never had a child segment of himself, maybe this was the first one?
"Aww, who's this little guy?" You asked while picking who you assumed to be a segment, flailing his arms.
"That's um—"
"Who's the cutest boy? Yes you are! Yes you areee~" You cooed, holding him with one arm while the other was pinching his cheek as he whined.
"Stahp. Pwinching. Me!" His words slurred a little due to you squishing his face.
As you were too busy focusing on the boy, Omega came over to you and blurted out:
"That's Prime, dear."
"...huh?" Upon hearing what he said, your eyes widened and all of your movements ceased.
"Gah! Finally, now let me talk!" The boy exclaimed.
But before he could say anything, you turned your head back to him.
"...Zandik?"
"Yes, that's me, (Y/n)."
Silence filled the air as the both of you stared at each other. Only for it to be broken when you laughed.
"What— BWAHAHAHA WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!"
"I— Stop laughing!"
But how could you take him seriously when he sounded so cute? His usually deep voice and intimidating demeanor was completely gone.
And that was something that happened two hours ago, you were now back at your room as you watched Dottore doodle on a piece of paper with his crayons.
He had explained that he was still himself. But since he was now a kid, it didn't come as a surprise that he'd also have the mindset of one too.
"We couldn't find a way to turn him back immediately, we'll have to wait it out."
"For how long?"
"No idea."
You closed your eyes as you sighed, recalling the conversation you had with the segments earlier. God knows how long it'd be before Dottore would turn back to his regular self.
Someone tugged on one of your sleeves and you opened your eyes, Dottore was holding up a piece of paper, proudly showing you what he had drawn.
"Oh wow! That's a nice drawing, love! Is that… um, someone strapped to a… table?" You squint your eyes, trying to make out what these messy lines depicted.
"An operation table, to be exact! This is what will happen to those stupid asses of clones when I turn back to my adult self!"
"Hey, watch your language, mister."
"I'm not a kid!"
"Are you sure about that?"
---
As time passed, you were now reading Dottore a story and tucked him to bed.
"—and so, the prince defeated the evil dragon and saved the princess! Then they lived happily ever after. The end."
"That's lame."
"You'll take what you can get, dear." You told him.
"I could've done a better job at defeating the dragon! With how advanced my creations are, it could literally be destroyed in seconds!" He exclaimed as he put his arms in the air.
"Yes, of course. Now, go to sleep, okay?" You stood up, walking over to the couch.
"Wait!"
You turned back to him and raised a brow.
"Um, sleep with me, please?"
Oh my god those puppy eyes. You thought, trying not to squeal at how freaking adorable he looked. How could you refuse when he was looking at you like that?
Giving him a soft smile in response, you walked over and got into the bed with him. As you laid down next to him, he scooted closer to you and tucked himself into your chest.
"Give me a goodnight kiss too?"
Chuckling at his request, you pressed a little kiss on his forehead, ruffling his hair as you did so.
"Sleep tight now, dear."
"Night night…"
---
Bonus:
Some time during the hours as you were still asleep. You weren't sure if it was a dream or not, but you could've sworn you felt the familiar warmth of someone's arm hugging you close...

{Weather} Reader x Azriel
Hello people! My name is Ally and I am proud to enter the ACOTAR world with a bang. I've been writing for years and years now and thought eh fuck it why not start posting it.
So here I am. 100% not expecting this to go anywhere but if it does, come give me a shout! I'd love to hear what y'all have to say about it or hear your ideas for fic recommendations.
There isn't a whole lot of plot, just a thought that turned into another and I connected them. Enjoy!
Word Count ~ 7,523
Warnings ~ Language, blood, hurt/comfort, fluff, violence/fighting, lets all pretend that you can winnow inside the House of Wind for a sec pls.
Summary ~ You have been encompassed into the Inner Circle after the Spring Court went to shit. During a dry stead between the Queens and Hybern, Azriel was sent on a mission to the Mortal Lands to see what was going on. There is little he can do to hide his rather harsh expedition. Set during ACOWAR, you provide a level of comfort for the shadowsinger that no one else is capable of.
~~~~~
All of us are sitting around the House of Wind, relaxing after another brutal day of training. I had been with Cassian, Mor with Rhysand and Feyre, Amren off doing Amren things. Azriel was… nowhere to be found.
It’s been a few days since anyone has heard from him. We know he’s been spying in the Queen’s territory, but to not have a check in or for him to not come home to rest for days on end is concerning.
But what makes my gut churn is the smell of blood coming from upstairs.
Azriel’s blood.
Rhys and Cass get a whiff of their brothers' carnage and exchange a worried look with me. The three of us winnow up to his room and knock on his door.
“Az?” Cass says softly.
No response.
“Azriel, it’s Rhys, open the door,” Rhysand knocks a little harsher than Cassian had.
No response. They can hear his labored breathing and groans, and the smell of blood. They didn’t bother to knock a third time. When his door unlocked on a phantom wind, the sight was horrifying. Az peered over his shoulder at the curse coming from Cass, and shook his head.
“I don’t want visitors,” he mumbled, trying to stand, but failing to do so. Rhys and Cassian rushed to his side, helping him sit back down. I remained in the doorway. Staring at his wings.
They were a little mangled to say the least. Cuts and scratches littered the delicate leather, some puncture wounds oozed trickles of blood and puss.
“What in the name of the Cauldron happened?” Cassian demanded from the shadowsinger.
“Tree snare, Mortal lands are littered with them,” He groaned. “I’m fine, please just- please leave.”
He never begged quite like that before. The desperation was a foreign thing to his tongue. He tried to straighten his spine, but it did no such thing. He hissed at the jarring of his wings, and settled into the curves of his hunched over position.
He looked awful.
“Az, we can’t just leave you like this. We can get Madja in here-”
“No,” he plead again, tone more harsh than the last. “No… leave. I don’t want any help.”
Typical of Az to say such a thing. The quiet, reserved male was always so adamant about doing things on his own he forgot that sometimes it’s better to ask for help than to suffer in silence. Especially when it comes to such a delicate and sensitive body part.
But alas, the two brothers nodded, stepping around the third and heading to the door. I moved out of their way, but not with them. I just continue to stare at his toned, berated back.
“Yn…” he called out. “Don’t make me beg you too.”
I stiffened.
I knew how hard this must be for him. To turn down his friends, to turn down aid. I don’t know Azriel very well, not like the others did after spending five centuries with him. But maybe that would… I don’t know
“I won’t say anything,” I promised. “Just let me clean you up, is all I’m asking.”
He sighed heavily, hanging his head in his hands, but he nodded. I quickly shut the door behind me and moved to the bathroom. Under his sink there was a little brown pouch with all kinds of medical supplies. I grabbed some towels and a bowl of hot water appeared by his feet. When I walked back into the main area, he had his chin fastened on his fist, looking out the big window.
I stood next to him laying the open bag next to him so I could rummage through it. There were some wipes, some bandages and some thick cloth pads. I ripped open as many as I thought I needed and began to apply pressure to the wounds on his arms and shoulders.
Az held a few while I drenched a cloth with the warm water and began to clean off the dirt and sap.
He didn’t even seem to breathe, to even blink as I ran the cloth up and down his right arm, ditching it on the floor when it was too dirty to continue. I repeated my steps until the majority of him was clean. The bleeding had stopped for the most part and I applied an adhesive pad to the area to keep it covered. I couldn’t smell any infection on them so it was okay to conceal the wounds. Had there been a sticky, yellow goo then they would need to drain.
Then I looked at his wings.
They weren’t shredded, but they were not in good condition by any means. They looked so painful.
I silently moved to the opposite side of the bed, kneeling into the mattress and spreading out more supplies.
“I-” he started, “please be gentle…”
“Of course,” I nodded, resting my hand on his shoulder to try and get them to relax. They sagged a bit, but didn’t stay there long. The second my fingers grazed the smooth flesh, he jumped.
“Sorry, sorry,” I mumbled, retracting my hands. “What hurts?”
“No, no it’s not painful, just very sensitive, I’ll try to hold still,” he apologized, displaying his wings, stretching them out all the way as if to brace them against the bed. They were massive. And most of the small cuts and snags littered the top and middle of the span, not towards the bottom.
“This might sting a little, if it’s too much, tell me, and I’ll stop.”
He nodded, clutching the tops of his knees. His breathing was hard as I dabbed the first cotton ball to the sore area. It had been rubbed raw from Mother knows what.
There had to be hundreds of them, if not a thousand scrapes and scratches. But they all didn’t need tending to, they would heal just fine. There were a few that I was concerned about and applied something to keep the bacteria from spreading.
I gently slid my hand to his shoulder, pressing it down from his ear, telling him it was okay, that he was alright.
He listened, settling down. I knew he must be in a lot of pain. There wasn’t much that I could’ve done beside what I did, but I did as much as I could to ease the tension. I summoned another rag and gently cleaned the skin on his back, wiping the mud baked onto his skin. Az relaxed more at that.
“I know it’s not really my place to ask, but if you would like to share what happened, I will patiently listen, Azriel. If not, I’ll enjoy the silence with you,” I offered, my hands coming to his shoulders, massaging the thick muscle.
He groaned in satisfaction, dipping his head forward and sagging downward. His arms slumped to his side as I drove my knuckle between the fibrous strands. Az ground his teeth, breathing with every knot I worked from his body. I drove my thumb in and around the base of his wings, careful not to brush against them.
Cassian had once told how sensitive Illyrian wings were. Why they were so sensitive. It made my cheeks blush, which I was taunted for endlessly.
Azriel sucked in a breath.
I had been too busy thinking about all the things Cass and Rhys had teased me with and my thumb slipped, brushing the delicate nerves at the base of his spine. I could see the goosebumps etch his bronze skin.
“S-Sorry,” I stuttered, fingers trembling, struggling to resume. “Do you need anything else? Can I get you something to drink or eat?”
I stood before he had a chance to say otherwise. I didn’t, truly didn’t, mean to brush over the hyper-sensitive area.
Azriel just looked up at me with full eyes. They looked like strangers, not the deep, fierce set of hazel that I had come to know. They were like the shadows that whispered in his ear. There hadn’t been a glimpse of them in the hour or so that I’d been here tending to him. It’s as if they’ve vanished.
His eyes were bright, filled with his pupils in a way that made him seem feline. Like a true predator hunting in the pit of night.
“I…” Az started, swallowing hard before his eyes darted between mine. “Will you stay? Please?”
He reached his hand to grab mine, and I let him, his warm, scarred hands engulfing mine. I nodded precisely, a smile playing on my lips. He seemed to deflate then, a weight being lifted off his shoulders and he dragged me closer, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his head against my stomach.
I let my arms fall over his shoulders, the strands of his inky black hair finding its way into my fingers. I tangled it between my digits gently, letting the soft curls form as I brushed them away, repeating the process.
I had no idea how long we stayed there for, but enough for the once dimly lit room to ignite with fae light as the sun set over the Sidra.
Azriel began to tug me closer. I had no choice but to crawl into his lap, letting my weight rest over one of his legs as he clung to me.
I didn’t dare try and break this moment.
I nestled into the dip between his shoulder and neck, letting my eyes lull shut as his warm body did the same. I let my thumbs brush against the smooth skin on the back of his shoulder, wanting to press a kiss there, but… not my place, I reminded myself.
I had always cared for the Illyrian more than the others had. Was always the one wondering if what his shadows were whispering were things to him or about him. I knew he had a traumatic pass, and I knew he suffered a great deal during the early years of his immortal life, but things were… they weren’t great, but we were in a lull. With Hybern. Things were stalled so we took this time to cut back.
Not Az. He was always spying somewhere, reporting on new territories siding with us or the King, but nothing more. We all knew he needed a break, but never took one. It was frustrating.
He shifted on the bed, then I felt a gust of wind encase my body.
His wings enveloped me entirely.
I had not expected it. I was shocked to say the least. I tensed for a moment, and he must have sensed it because he began to retreat.
“No, no” I said, adjusting myself on his muscular thigh for a moment. “Put them back.”
He answered with the leathery wings covering us completely. I settled into the warmth, the soft scent they admitted. I had never felt so safe in my entire life, so completely safe and comforted.
I didn’t know a lot about Illyrian tradition since I had been encompassed into the inner circle, but I knew enough that it was a great honor to see a pair of wings up close, let alone touch them. If he had let me do that, gods only knew what this meant.
I felt a tear hit my shirt. I heard him sniffle, then hiccup in a breath.
“Azriel…” I breathed out slowly, gripping him tighter as he clung to me, the sobs wracking through his body. He gasped for a breath every now and then, the tears falling faster with every breath.
He cried for a long while. I wasn’t even sure if he knew how to do that. To cry, to be vulnerable with anyone.
“It’s okay, Az, I’m here, I’m right here Az it’s okay,” I soothed, twisting his hair around my fingers once again. His breathing seemed to even out at that, sobs reduced to trickling tears and sniffles.
I didn’t know what to do.
I didn’t know what to say.
Thankfully, he spoke. “I don’t know what you did, Yn… but you made the shadows go away. It is so quiet without their roar in my ear. In my bones… everything is silent. There are no whispers, no murmurs of potential threat. It is all quiet.”
My heart thundered in my chest so hard I thought it might break my rib cage. There were no words to describe the feeling in my body. I gripped him even tighter.
His hands stroked up and down my sides, gently nudging me to pull off. I did, meeting his glossy eyes and tear stained cheeks. His hand ever so gently came up to my face, fingers barely touching the surface of my skin as he looked into my eyes. So deep I thought he might see my thoughts.
“Thank you,” was all he said. I nodded and smiled, tucking the hair behind his ears. “Besides Madja and my own mother, I have never let anyone touch my wings. Not even Rhys or Cassian. They are… my entire world. The most prized possession any Illyrian could hoist. They are my ticket to anywhere in the world and I let you touch them without a second thought.”
My eyes had widened at that.
“In 500 years,” I gaped, “you’ve never let either of them touch your wings? Once?”
He shook his head, “Never. It is a privilege that few get to experience. Typically just mothers to their newborns, but once you learn to fly, you’re old enough to take care of them on your own. It becomes our responsibility to keep them safe and keep them clean. Of course there may be a medical need, but other than that, they are not to be touched. Only mates have that sacred right.”
My heart clenched.
I’ve only been a part of this group since the middle of the war. I had left the Spring Court when Feyre had planted those lies. They spread to my territory and we all went our separate way. For the better. I chose to come and fight for what we all knew was right. I can’t say the same for the rest of my family.
I had managed to hitch a few rides to Summer, right before Adrita was attacked. I fought alongside them, and none of them knew that I was from Spring besides Feyre. She had recognized me for the Tithe. We instantly connected and she offered me sanctuary with them while we fought against Hybern. I had exceptional knowledge of the Spring Court and The Wall, of who was going where and when.
When we came back to Velaris, I was introduced to Amren, who just briefly looked up from that book, took a sip from a gauntlet, gave me a cold once-over, and went right back to the book.
Nesta was much the same.
Elain hadn’t said much either, just asked me if I knew anything about the human lands. I was later informed on her betrothed. It made my heart hurt.
Mor was undoubtedly my best friend. She really helped me get settled here in Velaris. She was the one to pick me up time and time again when I didn’t think I could go on.
Rhysand was more of a gentleman than anyone painted him to be, especially all those years Under The Mountain. He was not a hostile homicidal maniac like Amarantha had painted for him. He was gentle, and kind, only being capable of those horrible things when he needed to be.
Cassian was… well, Cassian. Big, strong, charming as ever. Dumber than a pile of rocks but a brute of a man nonetheless. He was my other best friend. My go-to drinking buddy and my favorite person to beat at cards. I would come with him and Nesta to Windhaven. He was not merciful.
And then there was Azriel. He rarely spoke when he wasn’t prompted. He kept to himself, to those shadows, and wasn’t one for conversation. I had only spoken to him three or four times. Most of them during the war, once during Solstice to give him his gift. It was usually just… so, between us.
Until now.
Until he let me touch his wings.
Could it have been a possibility that-
As if he knew what I was thinking, “I didn’t know how to bring it up to you, Yn. I didn’t want to at first, cause I didn’t think you felt anything. Any type of bond. And I certainly didn’t want to bring it up right in the middle of the war, risk death, and then leave you alone forever. I couldn’t bring myself to leave you with that type of pain.”
My eyes stung. My heart thundered. Every fiber in my body became aware of just how close I was to him. I took in a deep breath, eyes blinking rapidly.
“If you… I don’t know if that is what you want,” he hesitated. “If I am what you want, but you are everything I’ve ever needed, Yn. You are the sunshine to my dark and hazy life. The only thing that can make my deep, roaring shadows disappear. Completely. It is calm and utterly silent when you are near. And when I get to hold you… Cauldron Yn, it is like a fresh breath of air. Like a torrential rain to my wildfire. It hasn’t been this quiet inside my body since the day I was born.”
There was nothing I could do to stop the tears from flowing. They hit the clothing between us, saturating the fabric and then drying. I didn’t know what to say. And I could tell that was killing him, my silence. He tensed beside me, gripping my arms a little tighter.
“Yn” he breathes, so softly. So gently than anyone ever had.
I looked into his eyes, finding them to be so much more breathtaking than I did a little while ago.
“I don’t know what to say, Azriel,” I chuckled lightly. “I’m shocked, I just thought that you and Mor…”
“No,” he shook his head adamantly, “Not us. Not ever, I’m afraid. I spent a long time trying to… coax her, but she never budged. I decided I needed to look for someone else. For you.”
I smiled greatly.
“Stay with me, tonight,” he grabbed both of my hands, placing kisses to each of them before folding them against his heart. “Let me give this to you, slowly, at your own pace. It is yours, Yn. It always has been. Let it be yours, if you choose.”
His eyes, glowing and begging me to say something. When he pressed his lips to my hands, I could feel my chest tighten in a way it hadn’t before, constrict around itself until it let loose and erupted from within. Everything I had hoped for, spent countless hours dreaming of, pestering my mother about stories of when she found out my father was her mate, came true at that moment.
An unrelenting pull in his direction, a deceptively overwhelming feeling of trust and sureness that seemed to never end crashed through me. It was like I was looking at him for the first time. Like I opened my eyes and the first images I was blessed with seeing were of him, of Azriel, this shadowsinger and spymaster of the Night Court.
A piece of a puzzle locked into place, one that I hadn’t even known existed yet. And here it was, front and center in my mind, so clear it almost blinded me.
All I could do was smile. Smile and nod my head as I watched his teeth flash before he wrapped me up in his arms. He giggled, tossing me over his shoulder and rolling me around on his enormous bed. I laughed and laughed, letting him pepper my skin with kisses.
“You have no idea how long I have waited for this, Yn,” He sighed, propping himself up on one elbow, clutching my fingers in the other. “How long I have needed a mate.”
“I think I might have an idea,” I smiled, tucking some hair behind his ear. He rolled his eyes, scooping me up and laying me on top of his chest.
Cauldron knows how long we stayed like that for, just talking and smiling at each other, kissing every now and then. When I grew too tired to keep my head up, his wings encased me again, that soft, musky scent circling around me.
“Rest, my Yn,” he whispered, his arms coming around my waist. “We can talk all day tomorrow.”
+++++++
The sun made him look like the most perfect shade of bronze. His dark, inky hair was a mess over his eyes, his tattoos swirling across his shoulders. His wings were still folded around me, keeping my body pressed to his all night long.
Azriel slept, another thing I wasn’t sure he actually knew how to do.
I shifted my legs around, detangling them from his. He groaned, but let them go, only tightening his grip around my torso.
“Az,” I whispered, "we need to get up, training is in an hour.”
“Five more minutes,” he grumbled, tucking his head beneath my chin. The hair on his head smelled like the Sidra; salty and lemony. So calming and soothing. I let him, and myself, have a few more minutes, just basking in each other. But I eventually did have to be the fun killer.
“I’m sure Cassian will understand if you don’t want to train today, but I unfortunately don’t have any excuse. I have to get ready and go eat before I go. Let me up, please.”
He let go reluctantly, making a big huff as I climbed away from him.
I laughed, “You know I’ll be back in a couple of hours.”
“Yes, but I wanted to spend this morning with you. I want to spend all my time with you.”
My heart swooned. “Come to breakfast with me. Even if you don’t want to train you can still come and watch.”
Azriel rolled his eyes, but followed me nonetheless. I got changed into my fighting leathers, and Az strolled behind me to the dining room. I greeted everyone like I normally would, as did Azriel. They could instantly tell, because he wore a smile on his lips the entire meal, taking up the empty seat next to me, which normally was Mor’s.
When she strolled in, she gave him a high eyebrow and he shrugged. She looked at me and I had to suck my lips into my mouth to keep from cackling out. I mouthed ‘I'll tell you later’.
When I rose from my seat, so did Azriel, following me into the kitchen.
“When will you be back?” He asked softly, cradling me close.
“By noon, Mor and I have some work we need to do at Rita’s,” I responded, falling into his warmth. “Are you going to be alright here?”
He nodded against my shoulder, “I just don’t want you to go, is all. I’m enjoying the peace and quiet.”
My heart sank at that. I was just happy to offer him at least some moments of rest in his utterly chaotic life. If I was able to give him any sort of relief, I’d stop at nothing to make sure that he has access to it whenever he pleases. Who was I to deny him of that?
He stepped away, pressing his lips into my forehead a few times.
“Have a good training session, please don’t get beat up too bad, I have plans for later,” he smiled, rubbing the sides of my arms.
“Oh?” I tilted my head.
“It’s a surprise, now get going, Cass is waiting for you.”
“Don’t blow a gasket when I come back with bruises from him,” I chuckled.
He straightened, real concern coming into his eyes. “Maybe I should come-”
“No, no I’ll be okay,” I explained. “Cassian has beat my ass more times than I could count and you were able to hold it in. I’ll be fine, it’s never anything too bad anyway, nothing I can’t handle. I'd really rather not see you bash his face in because he got in a couple of good shots.”
That didn’t make it any better. His grip tightened, his eyes narrowed, and his jaw clenched.
“Hey!” Cassian called from down the hall. “Put your lover's quarrel on hold, we gotta go, Yn. If you’re not out here in 30 seconds I’ll make you go up and down the steps every second you’re late.”
I rolled my eyes, impatient bastard.
“I need to go,” I said, removing his hands from my body. “I will come find you when I’m back. Try and relax, okay? I’ll be fine, you know that.”
He just nods briefly before stepping out of the way to let me pass. He caught my elbow at the last second, kissing me so intensely I thought I might fall over. When he let me go, he was smirking like a cat.
++++++
The bond must have already been slipping into place because I could feel this agonizing pull back to the House of Wind. But it also felt like he was right here with me. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was spying from the shadows, something for him and I to talk about later.
Cassian and I had gone through our normal workouts, doing footwork drills and some strength training. But of course, even after almost collapsing to the floor himself, he wanted to spar.
“Can’t we just skip it for today?” I begged, rolling my head to look at him.
“Nope,” he said with a grin. “You need more practice, and I know it’ll come in handy against Hybern. If you ever find yourself without a weapon, all you’ll have is your fists. And seeing the look on Az’s face will be priceless.”
“You know,” it wasn’t really a question.
“I’ve known before he has,” Cassian huffed. “I pointed it out to him after about three times of you being near him. His shadows always disappeared and I found him staring at you. He didn’t even realize, said that he hadn’t even noticed things were quiet because he was too busy thinking of you.”
My heart lurched in my chest, filling with pride and triumph. “I don’t know what it is that I do.”
“Nothing,” he shrugged. “That is the whole point of being a mate, things just simply work.”
“I have given it a ton of thought in the past, about what it would feel like to have a mate, to have a bond with someone. It’s… so much different than I expected it to be. I miss him so much more than I thought I would. I thought I’d be able to ignore it, but I can’t.”
“Welcome to having a mate,” Cassian snickered, taking up a fighting stance. I followed suit, circling around him and dodging his blows. I wasn’t lucky enough to escape them all, one particularly hard kick sent me to my knees, and then Cassian was on top of me.
He flatten me like a bug and flipped me on my back. His forearm pressed into my throat, cutting off oxygen. I coughed, blood rushing to my face, my vision darkening.
“Come on, Yn, what have I taught you to do?” he pressed further into my esophagus. I drove my knee as hard as I could into his crotch, causing him to hiss, loosening his grip, faltering.
I smacked him as hard as I could in the face, sending him toppling to the ground. It had been hard, harder than I really meant to. I could see his eyes darken as he rose to his feet, really wanting a challenge now. He started to run towards me, and I braced myself for the impact, but it never came.
I saw a shadow blurr by and Cassian was vaulted 12 feet in the air. He made a dent in the earth as he drove through the soil. In seconds, he was encased in tendril like smoke. One that I recognized all too well.
“Az-”
“I am going to kill you,” the voice was so foreign. Azriel straddled Cassian as he held him up by the collar of his shirt. “How dare you put your hands on my mate.”
I climbed through the ropes of the ring as fast as I could, jumping down and off the platform. I sprinted the distance between us as fast as I could. I screamed his name, but couldn’t hear me over the roar of the shadows.
Before I could get there, Cassian had thrown him off and was ready to fight. The two went at each other so hard I was genuinely worried that Azriel was going to hurt him. I didn’t know what else to do, so I took off towards the townhouse.
I barged in the door, huffing puffing, and red faced as the door smacked off the wall.
“Cauldron alive, Cassian, how many times have I told you not- Yn?” Rhysand’s eyes immediately softened. “Are you alright?” “I was sparring with Cassian and Azriel came out of nowhere,” I rushed, barely able to speak over my labored breathing. “Last night he told me I’m his mate and I think he might actually kill-”
“Oh shit,” Rhys cursed, grabbing my arm and winnowing us both to the sight. They were still scrapping, both bleeding from the face. Azriel looked like an animal, and Cass looked like he was genuinely afraid. I haven’t ever seen him look like this, either of them.
Rhys threw himself in the middle, trying to get Azriel’s attention. He paid no mind to his High Lord, throwing him off his back as he lunged for Cassian again. I went to step in, to try and get his attention but-
“Yn no,” Rhysand shouted from a few feet away. That caught Azriel’s attention quickly. He looked up from where he had Cassian in a chokehold, eyes locking with mine. In a second, he vanished from Cass and appeared behind me. His arms were strong and tight around my middle. A snarl ripped from his chest as Cassian rose to his shaky feet.
His shadows encased us, creating a shield. He took staggering steps back, inhaling and exhaling so hard I thought he might pass out. Rhysand moved to check on his brother, Cassian battering him away as he wiped his nose with the back of his hand.
“Azriel,” I said through a hurried breath. “Az it’s me, it’s me.”
He inhaled deep, scenting the air, letting out a deep breath. His grip loosened and he said my name like an old forgotten prayer.
The shadows vanished immediately, his heavy body leaning against mine.
“Yn…” he breathed, turning me around. I shrugged his hands off of me, more than pissed at him for barging and attempting to kill his brother.
“Go inside,” I said, turning away from him.
“Yn please-” “I don’t wanna hear it from you,” I shouted, eyes blazing. He took a small step back, ears flattening back against his head, wings tucking in tightly to his body.
“That’s right, shadowsinger, go back-”
“Not another word from you either,” I snarled at Cassian. He, too, jumped in his skin. “You have nothing to brag about either. Don’t you dare put your hands on my mate like that again.”
Silence rippled around us. Rhys lifted his hand, opened his mouth to say something, but the glare I sent him had him scratching the back of his head quickly.
“I swear to the Mother that if anything happens while I’m with Mor at Rita’s, I’ll kick all of your asses myself. And don’t think for a second that I won’t drag Feyre into this either.”
That was more than enough to get the Illyrians to look the other way, words forgotten in their minds. I turned on my heel and grabbed my water from the corner before stalking off down the street to find Mor.
++++++
“He just appeared out of thin air?” Mor’s eyes were wide.
I nodded, “It was like he was waiting for something to happen. He would have killed Cassian, I’m sure of it, if Rhys hadn’t been there, and said my name to snap Az out of it.”
“Sounds like someone needs a little time alone with their new mate,” Mor’s eyebrows waggled on her forehead. I smacked her arm and she boomed a laugh. “I’m just suggesting.”
“It hasn’t even been a day since he told me, Mor, and he’s acting like he owns me. Rhys didn’t dare do this with Feyre,” I shook my head.
“Well,” she countered. “Rhys did almost kill Cassian once.”
“I know, I’ve heard the story a million times,” I sighed. “But that was after the Weaver and all that. They had mated and had time for the bond to be in place. There weren’t any problems until that and Az and I have barely kissed a handful of times. That’s it. How can he be this… territorial?”
“Az is unexplainably protective. Of all of us. Before you came along he was like that with all of us. In a different way, but… he’d never let any of us volunteer before he looked into it or did it himself. It is rooted deep within him, in a way none of us will understand.” “Even so, it doesn’t make it okay for him to do what he did.” “I don’t disagree,” she added, “but just try and understand where he is coming from. Yn, you are the only one who he has come across that can make his head silent. To stop the shadows and the constant whispers. I don’t know about you, but if that were me, I’m sure I’d do everything in my power to make sure nothing ever happens to my peace and quiet.”
+++++
When I came back with More, she bid me good luck before Winnowing herself back down to the Townhouse.
I came to the main dining room, Cassian, Rhysand and Feyre all sitting at the table.
“Okay, what the hell happened today?” Feyre demanded, noticing the bruises on my neck.
“I’m surprised you don’t already know,” I snorted, letting down my shields so she could see it all. She flinched slightly when Az landed a particularly brutal blow to Cassian’s face. It sent blood spewing from his mouth.
“Has anyone seen him?” I asked with a sigh. No one answered, but I heard something. I whipped my head from side to side, this deafening roar in my ears.
“What?” Rhysand asked.
“You all don’t hear that?” I asked, eyes wide as I searched for the thunderous sound. I listened deeper and deeper, not hearing any words. I suddenly felt a chill in my bones so cold I thought I’d freeze right there. There were so many voices and whispers.
I looked up to the set of grand stirs and noticed the shadows lurking at the top.
Azriel…
I sprinted up the stairs, the tendrils leading me down the hall and to his room. When I opened the door, the room was almost pitch black, shadows swirling around and around like an endless storm over the Sidra.
I tried to push my way through, but I rebound off of it like a shield. I tried again, screaming his name. He was in the center. And I had no way of getting to him. I began to panic, shouting for him louder and louder.
Nothing, no response from my shadowshinger. I took a deep breath and shoved my body against the wall, bouncing off of it immediately. I slammed hard against the floor, back groaning as I pushed myself to all fours. I tried to crawl, but it was no use, it flung me back and into the hallway where Ryhs, Cassian, and Feyre were all standing, Mor popping up next to her.
“What the fuck-” Mor gasped, seeing it for herself.
“He’s in there,” I heaved, “Mor I can’t get to him what do I do?”
She was at a loss for words and Rhys slid beside her, taking it all in. He did nothing to hide his wide eyes and frantic look. His own shadows rose and tried to comfort the tempest, but failed. The roar in my ears grew so loud I couldn’t hear whatever Rhysand said to me. I tried to read his lips, follow the bond.
I felt deep inside, it was so cold. If I didn’t know any better I wouldn’t have known anything was there at all. I pulled and pulled and pulled and pulled. I must have screamed because everyone around me flinched. I went slack against the wall and covered my ears, calling out for Azriel. Begging for him to come to me.
A flicker. I felt a flicker of warmth in my chest. Against my soul, I felt a tug, as if he too was pulling on the same thread that ties us together. I pulled faster and faster until I slammed into something so hard I gasped.
It was rock solid, something so impenetrable, like magic itself. I beat on it with everything I had, prying at it with my whole being until it began to give away. I tore this wall apart, it grew warmer and warmer-
She doesn’t want a mate, she doesn’t want me…
There is no meaning if I do not have her to protect, she doesn’t want me to protect her.
Useless, dumb, bastard born Illyrian filth.
Rhysand and Cassian should have left you in that acid bath and left you to dissolve into nothing. They should not have saved someone so vain and cowardly.
These were not my thoughts, but they sure felt like it. I looked towards the swirling wind and shadow, finally seeing Azriel at the center, crumbled to the floor, hands over his ears.
“Azriel,” I shouted. He didn’t move.
“What’s happening?” Rhysand asked, helping me to stand on my feet.
“I-I don’t know I just felt this rush of thoughts and now I can see him but he can’t hear me,” I felt the tears in my eyes. He looked around, as if searching for his own thoughts, but then he stood rigid, throwing a glance at Cassian. They seemed to share a thought before Rhys turned back to me.
“Speak in your mind,” he said hurriedly. “You have to talk to him in your mind.”
“Wha-”
“Just do it,” he urged, and I turned back to face the raging storm.
Azriel… I whispered.
I watched him flinch, hand bracing on the corner of his bed. His eyes and cheeks were wet with tears when they met mine.
Yn…
Az you have to take this down so I can get to you, I begged, it’s too strong for me to get through let me in.
He went silent.
Az please let me in. I can make the shadows go away, remember? I can make all of this go away, you just have to calm it down enough for me to get to you.
I can’t.
Why?
I am the shadows, and they are me.
“What is he saying?” Rhysand asked.
“He just said he can't tame them, that he is the shadows and they are him,” I shook my head, threading my fingers in my hair. “I can help him but I can’t get to him.”
“Do you trust me?” he asked, eyes wary.
“With my life, High Lord,” I said, because it was true.
He grabbed my hand and the familiar hollowness of winnowing encased me. He tried to drop me right next to Az, but it seemed to be warded. I was instantly flung away from him and hit the wall so hard I saw stars. Feyre came to my side immediately as the bright light in the hallway dimmed.
I forced myself up and boiled with rage. How dare he, my mate, keep me from him. I trudged forward, a small limp to my gate but I kept on pressing, despite the protests from behind me. I came to the whirling wind and shadow, staring at it.
I placed my palm against it and closed my eyes.
I know this is you, shadowsinger. These shadows, this wall… but it is not Azriel, not my mate. He would never keep me away. He’d want me right next to him, holding him as we weather this storm together. I know you are one in the same, and I know I make you go away and you are angry. He is the shadows, and you are him. I am his mate, meaning he is a part of me. I am the sun that casts the shadows you need. I am the maker of your shadows. Without one there cannot be another, without my mate there is no one to harness your strength. Let me in, let me cast the sunshine so that your shadows may sing once again.
There was almost a noise of discontent before the roar in my ear withered away. It disbanded like fog in the early spring mornings. The wind and shadows misted away, the room and hallway no longer swirling in a veil of darkness.
In the center of the room shook Azriel, arms trembling as he looked around at the sudden brightness.
I didn’t know I even gave my feet permission to move until I was collapsing into his lap. I hiccuped a sob so hard I thought my lungs burst open.
Azriel buried his face into my neck, breath just as ragged. I cried uncontrollably, crushing him with my arms, I’m sure.
I felt warmth and tenderness encase my body. I felt a tap against my shields and I let them down, welcoming Az’s shadows without a second thought. His thoughts became mine, and vice versa. There wasn’t a part of us in that moment that wasn’t connected. Our minds, our hearts, our souls seemed to tangle in each other.
It must’ve been a long while before we detangled because everyone had left.
I, begrudgingly, pulled myself from him, sitting up to look at his tear stained face.
“Don’t you dare do something like that ever again,” I breathed, resting my forehead against his.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be that harsh with Cassian-”
“What?” I asked, brows knitting together. “No no no, not that, whatever the hell that shadow wall was.”
“You’re not mad at me for beating the shit out of Cassian?” He asked, equally as confused.
“Well,” I sighed. “I’m not happy about it, but for the love of the Mother if you ever shut me out like that again, when I break through, I will kill you.”
It was a promise so deep even he knew it was true. He just nodded, kissing both of my cheeks before my lips.
“I’m sorry, Yn,” a tear trickled down my face. “I saw Cassian choking you and on top of you and it blinded me with a rage so unexplainable. I don’t even remember doing it. It was an afterthought by the time I came out of it. And you looked so infuriated at me I just- I panicked. It had been so quiet for a good while it was like I forgot about the shadows entirely and they took over my being. It was so foreign and strange and they rained down upon me with such vengeance-”
“I know, I know,” I said, combing his hair with my fingers. “We… had a talk. We came to an agreement.”
“Agreement? A bargain?” he asked, a little concerned.
I shook my head, “no, not a bargain. We just saw eye to eye on things. A favor, I guess you could call it.” I let the words I had once spoken filter into his mind. Azriel had this starry look in his eyes when the words were over with.
“You talked to the shadows…” he said, a smile tugging at the corner of his lip. “H-How did you-”
“Rhys tried to winnow me to you but it must’ve been warded because the next thing that I knew was the wall against my back,” I hissed as his hands crept up my shoulder. His touch was featherlight as he examined, lifting up my shirt to reveal the bruises forming along my spine.
“Yn… Yn I am so sorry I hurt you…” his eyes feel so dark, I worried for a second that another tempest was coming.
“No, Azriel look at me,” I grabbed his face between my hands and made him look up at me. “This was not your fault. You and the shadows are not the same thing. You two, like I said, may share the same being, but you are not your shadows. You are Azriel, my Azriel.”
The color came back to his eyes almost instantly. There was a new set of tears in his face as he landed on my chest, arms tightening around my waist.
“Thank you, Yn… for seeing me, not just the shadows.”
The moment I first laid eyes on Rutger McGroarty, I knew we were destined to clash. He was arrogant, with a smug grin that seemed permanently etched on his face, and I, well, I wasn’t one to back down from a challenge.
We met during freshman orientation at the University of Michigan. As I was walking to my first class, he nearly knocked me over with his oversized hockey bag.
"Watch where you're going!" I snapped, glaring at him.
He smirked, looking me up and down. "Maybe you should watch where you're walking."
From that day on, our interactions were a constant battle of wits and snarky comments. Whether it was in the cafeteria, the library, or even in the hallway between classes, we couldn’t seem to be in the same vicinity without exchanging harsh words.
Library encounter -
I was deep in thought, trying to concentrate on my studies when I heard someone loudly discussing last night's hockey game. Annoyed, I turned to find Rutger sitting at a nearby table, clearly trying to distract me.
"Could you keep it down? Some of us are actually trying to study," I said, shooting him a glare.
He looked up, feigning innocence. "Oh, sorry. I was just celebrating our latest victory. Maybe if you came to a game once in a while, you'd understand."
Rolling my eyes, I replied, "I'd rather not waste my time watching a bunch of guys chase a puck around."
He smirked, leaning back in his chair. "You don't know what you're missing."
Cafeteria Encounter -
I was waiting in line to grab a coffee when Rutger stepped in front of me, cutting in line.
"Excuse me, I was here first," I said, tapping him on the shoulder.
He turned around, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Well, maybe if you were faster, you wouldn't have this problem."
I crossed my arms, trying to hide the smile tugging at my lips. "You're unbelievable."
He winked, grinning cheekily. "I know."
Post-Game Banter -
After a particularly intense game, I found myself walking past Rutger, who was surrounded by his teammates, celebrating their win.
"Nice game," I said, trying to sound indifferent.
He looked over, smirking. "Thanks. I guess you enjoyed watching us win, didn't you?"
I rolled my eyes, trying to keep the playful tone out of my voice. "Don't flatter yourself. I was just there for the free snacks."
He chuckled, stepping closer. "Sure, whatever you say."
The Encounter That Changed It All -
We found ourselves in the library again, our usual battleground for our heated debates and arguments.
"If my team wins the championship this year," Rutger started, a confident smirk playing on his lips, "you have to come to every home game next season and wear our team jersey."
I raised an eyebrow, challenging him. "And if they lose?"
His grin widened, the mischievous glint in his eyes unmistakable. "Then you never have to speak to me again."
I hesitated for a moment, contemplating the stakes. But the competitive side of me couldn't resist the challenge. "Fine, you're on."
Rutger extended his hand towards me, sealing the deal. "Deal. Prepare to become a hockey fan, Y/N."
As the season progressed, the bet became the center of our playful banter. Rutger would often tease me about how much I was going to enjoy the games, while I would brush off his comments with sarcastic remarks.
"Can't wait to see you in that jersey," he would say with a wink.
"Don't get too excited," I would reply, trying to hide the smile tugging at my lips. "I'm only doing this because I'm confident your team will lose."
But deep down, I was starting to enjoy our banter and secretly looked forward to attending the games, even if it was just to prove Rutger wrong.
The championship game was the climax of our bet. The tension was palpable as both teams fought fiercely for the win. In the final moments, with the score tied, Rutger managed to score the winning goal, securing the championship for his team.
I watched in disbelief as Rutger celebrated with his teammates, realizing that I had lost the bet. I would have to honor our agreement and attend every home game the following season, wearing the team jersey.
The stadium was buzzing with excitement after the intense championship game. Rutger, sweaty and exhilarated from the win, found me waiting near the exit.
"So, what did you think?" he asked, a smug grin on his face as he approached me.
I crossed my arms, trying to maintain a composed expression. "It was a good game, I'll give you that."
He chuckled, clearly enjoying my reluctant admission. "Just good? Come on, it was amazing! Admit it, you enjoyed watching us win."
I sighed, unable to hide the smile tugging at my lips. "Fine, it was more than just good. You played really well."
Rutger's grin widened, and he leaned in closer, the playful tension between us palpable. "I knew you'd come around eventually. So, are you looking forward to wearing our team jersey at every home game next season?"
I rolled my eyes, trying to maintain my defiant stance. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I still have a whole season of hockey to endure."
He chuckled, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. "Trust me, you're going to love it. And who knows, maybe you'll become a hockey fan after all."
I smirked, shaking my head in disbelief at how much our relationship had evolved since our first encounter. "We'll see about that, McGroarty."
Rutger winked, leaning in to whisper in my ear. "I'm looking forward to our next bet."
It was a chilly evening, and the university campus was buzzing with excitement for the upcoming hockey season. Rutger had invited me to a pre-season team event, and despite my initial reluctance, I decided to go.
The atmosphere was lively, with music playing and teammates mingling with friends and family. Rutger greeted me with a warm smile as I arrived.
"Thanks for coming," he said, handing me a drink. "I promise, you'll have a great time tonight."
I looked around, feeling slightly out of place among the hockey players and their friends. "I'll believe it when I see it."
Rutger chuckled, taking my hand and leading me towards the dance floor. "Come on, let's have some fun."
As we danced, I couldn't help but notice how different Rutger was outside of our usual bickering. He was kind, attentive, and surprisingly charming. The tension between us was undeniable, and I found myself drawn to him more than I cared to admit.
After a few songs, Rutger pulled me aside, his eyes searching mine. "Y/N, I have a proposition for you."
I raised an eyebrow, curious about what he was about to say. "What kind of proposition?"
He took a deep breath, his expression serious yet playful. "How about another bet?"
I laughed, intrigued by his proposal. "Another bet? What are the stakes this time?"
Rutger grinned, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "If my team wins the season opener, you have to go on a date with me. And if they lose, I'll leave you alone for good."
I considered his offer, the competitive side of me tempted by the challenge, but still reluctant to admit my growing feelings for him. "I don't know, Rutger. What's in it for you?"
He chuckled, leaning in to press his lips against mine in a soft, lingering kiss. It was a kiss filled with all the pent-up emotions and tension that had been building between us.
Pulling away slightly, Rutger looked into my eyes, searching for a response. "So, do we have a deal?"
I sighed, feeling a warmth spread through me at his words, despite my reservations. "Alright, Rutger, we have a deal. But don't get too confident."
He grinned, his eyes shining with excitement. "I look forward to winning this bet."
The day of the season opener had arrived, and the excitement on campus was palpable. Rutger had been training hard, and the team was in high spirits. Despite my initial reluctance, I found myself drawn into the anticipation of the game.
The stadium was packed with enthusiastic fans, and the atmosphere was electric as the game began. I watched nervously from the stands, cheering for Rutger and his team, even though I was still trying to maintain my competitive edge.
The game was intense, with both teams giving it their all. As the final minutes ticked away, the score remained close, and the tension in the stadium was palpable.
Then, in the last moments of the game, Rutger managed to break away from the defense and score the winning goal. The crowd erupted in cheers, and the team celebrated on the ice.
I watched in disbelief as Rutger skated towards the sidelines, his eyes searching for me. He winked and blew me a kiss, his grin wide and triumphant.
After the game, I waited for Rutger outside the locker room, still processing the outcome of the bet. When he emerged, sweaty and exhilarated from the win, he greeted me with a triumphant smile.
"So, about that bet," he said, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me close.
I sighed, trying to maintain my composure, but the smile on my face betrayed me. "Yes, you won fair and square. I'll honor our deal."
Rutger grinned, leaning in to press his lips against mine in a passionate kiss. It was a kiss filled with victory and the realization of our growing feelings for each other.
Pulling away slightly, Rutger looked into my eyes, his expression soft and sincere. "I'm looking forward to our date, Y/N."
I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me at his words. "Me too, Rutger. Me too."
*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·..·:*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·..·:*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·..·:*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·..·:*¨¨*
A few days after the season opener, Rutger and I were both still basking in the excitement of the win and the outcome of our bet. The tension between us had shifted from competitive to flirtatious, and I found myself looking forward to our upcoming date.
Rutger had planned a special evening for our date, and he was determined to make it memorable. He picked me up from my dorm, looking dashing in a crisp shirt and jacket.
"You look amazing," he complimented as I stepped into his car.
"Thank you," I replied, blushing slightly at his words.
Our first stop was a cozy little Italian restaurant in town. The ambiance was perfect, with soft lighting and romantic music playing in the background. We enjoyed a delicious meal and shared stories and laughter, getting to know each other better outside of our usual banter.
After dinner, Rutger surprised me with tickets to a local art exhibit. He knew I loved art, and he had taken the time to plan a thoughtful and meaningful date.
As we walked through the exhibit, Rutger took my hand, leading me from one artwork to another. We shared whispered conversations about our favorite pieces, and I could feel the connection between us growing stronger with each passing moment.
Finally, as we stood in front of a beautiful painting depicting a serene landscape, Rutger turned to me, his eyes filled with sincerity.
"Y/N, tonight has been amazing," he began, taking a deep breath. "I've come to realize that I want more than just a bet or a casual fling. I want us to be together, officially."
I looked into his eyes, seeing the genuine emotion and vulnerability in his gaze. "Rutger..."
He gently cupped my face, leaning in to press his lips against mine in a tender and heartfelt kiss. It was a kiss filled with love, commitment, and the promise of a future together.
Pulling away slightly, Rutger looked into my eyes, his expression soft and sincere. "Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?"
I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me at his words. "Yes, Rutger, I will."
Rutger grinned, pulling me close and wrapping me in a tight embrace. "I'm the luckiest guy in the world.
Let Me Be Yours-Noah Sebastian.
Pairings: Noah Sebastian x Reader
Warnings: abusive/cheating ex, swearing, angst, fluff, smut.
Summary: Reader was in an abusive relationship, and she ended up pushing away the one guy who never did her wrong. Noah refused to let her feel as if she wasn't worthy of love; especially when he had so much to give her.
Authors Note: This was requested by @themodern-daywednesday! I really hope you like it. Since there are talks of abusive exes, please read with caution. I used my own experience with my own abusive ex-boyfriend as a way to express myself. Oh, the reader's nickname is Angel in this as well but no correlation to Miracle!
Also, this is during long hair Noah era because he will always be my favorite.
The music vibrated through the house as I leaned against the living room wall, staring down into the red solo cup in my hand. At one point there was cold beer in it but now, it was more like room temp and untouched. When Jolly poured me the beer over an hour ago, it sounded good, though now I'd much rather toss it into the sink and crawl upstairs to my room; well, the guest room.
I pushed my way through the crowd of people that filled the house for this little party and threw the cup into the garbage. Hugging my hoodie closer to my chest, I went to maneuver my way past a couple that was making out against the fridge but halted when I noticed the long brown hair pulled back into a low bun. It could have been anyone, but I knew that hair, I also knew the snake tattoo that coiled around the guy's neck.
"No," I muttered while backing up into the kitchen island, accidentally knocking over the array of alcohol.
The sound of glasses falling gained the attention of those close by and when he finally pulled away from attacking the girl's lips, my tired eyes met with his cold blue ones and I shuddered.
"Y/N?"
"Jared, wh-wha-what are you doing here?" The words stumbled over my tongue.
Who the hell invited my ex to the party?
Jared shrugged. "I heard through the grapevine that this was happening so I figured I'd stop by."
Even with the ice-cold fear filling my veins and harsh memories of us creeping back into my mind, I stood tall against him. I refused to let him know how seeing him again was affecting me.
With my arms over my chest, I raised a brow. "You know this is Jolly's and Noah's house, right?"
At the mention of the latter, Jared's jaw ticked as he stalked away from the girl he was making out with moments ago and over towards me.
"That would explain why you're here," his voice was filled with hate.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm staying with them since I let you have the apartment, even though you were the unfaithful one."
My ex-boyfriend, scratch that; asshole, dickhead, piece of shit ex-boyfriend stood there in front of me with that stupid, smug smile. I hated that smile. And him.
I wasted a year of my life with this guy and the entire relationship; he made me feel unworthy and was only good for one thing; sex. I never gave it to him but that never stopped him from trying. And when I continued to deny him, Jared found other girls to beg for a quick fuck.
He wasn't only a cheating prick, but he also was an abusive piece of shit; more mentally and emotionally than physically. The way he manipulated me into thinking that I needed him in order to survive or sometimes even pulled the typical 'if you leave, I'll kill myself' bullshit. Jared made me believe I wasn't pretty enough and forced me to wear baggy shirts or sweaters and pants. I could never dress up because he would claim I was dressing up for someone else. I never did my hair or makeup for these reasons as well. I began pushing all of my friends away because it made me believe that all I needed was Jared.
The mental and emotional abuse was the worst, but that didn't mean he never raised a hand to me. One time, in front of my group of friends, Jared thought it would be hilarious to choke me out to see how long I could last. Another time, I was talking to him about how I was depressed and afraid of doing something to myself.
His response?
Jared said I was too much of a pussy to do anything and to prove that, he took a mechanical pencil and dug it into my wrist leaving half an inch of a scar.
Maybe that's why Noah hates him so much.
At the thought of my best friend, I quickly scanned the packed house wondering if he noticed Jared was here.
"Looking for lover boy? Think he'll save you again?"
I snapped my eyes over to Jared and almost spat in his face. "Fuck you, Jared! You need to leave."
"What are you going to do, Y/N?" he stepped closer to me with a raised brow. "Noah isn't here to protect you from me. Did you scare him off yet? It's only a matter of time until he realizes what a pain in the ass you are. I mean, if you never put out for me, why would you for him? You're a virgin, Y/N. Girls are always throwing themselves at him and why would he waste his time with someone as inexperienced as you?"
"Screw you!" I stepped up in his face. "Noah is nothing like you; he would never do the things to me you did. He actually cares."
Jared raised a hand to brush over his jaw but out of instinct, I reeled back and prepared for the hit to come, though it never did. All I heard over the music was his dark laughter.
"You're pathetic. You couldn't even dress up for a party?" Jared motioned to my sweater and leggings. "What the fuck did I ever see in you?"
With his hand linked with the girl from earlier, who was too drunk to realize what was going on, Jared threw his shoulder into me as he walked past. I stumbled over my feet but could save myself from falling. Tears burned in the corners of my eyes and I decided I was over this party. The bed upstairs sounded way better than being anywhere Jared might be.
"No," I told myself, worrying Jared might have been right. "Noah would never do that to you. He's the one that offered you a place to stay."
When I found Jared cheating on me yet again, I couldn't take the pain anymore so I packed a few bags and showed up on Noah's doorstep: seeing him for the first time in three months.
"I don't have anywhere else to go," I cried, tears slipping from my eyes.
Noah sighed and wrapped an arm around my shoulder to pull me inside, letting the door close behind us.
That was two days ago and after telling me I could stay in the guest room for as long as I needed, I took that literally and held up in the guest room for the last two days. Noah tried texting me when I was with Jared but I never responded. Another thing Jared didn't like, me talking to my best friends. The fact that Noah and Jolly were still willing to let me stay with them showed how big their hearts were.
Speaking of hearts, mine throbbed in the cage in my chest as I thought about how Noah looked when I showed up the other day. His long hair was pulled back messily with a claw clip and his gold round glasses perched on his nose looking absolutely breathtaking. I always was attracted to Noah but never acted on it because he never felt the same way. We'd been good friends for so long, we didn't want to risk loosing that because of feelings.
Noah never said that, but I always assumed that because he gave no indication that he felt something more than just friends with me.
"Hey, you alright?"
A soft voice pulled me from my thoughts and I noticed Nick Ruflio leaning against the wall beside me. His eyes were filled with concern as he looked me over.
Noah wasn't the only one that knew about Jared and our toxic relationship; the rest of the guys did as well. We all were incredibly close for years while they knew certain things Jared had done to me, Noah was the only one that knows how bad my mind was fucked up.
The first night here, I stayed up with Noah and told him everything. To say he was furious was an understatement. I had to talk him down multiple times for finding Jared and kicking his ass.
Hearing my name called, I shook out the thoughts and gave my best fake smile to Nick.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I assured him.
"Really? Because Folio said he saw Jared out back," Nick said.
I cursed while running my sweaty palms against my thighs. "Did Noah see him?"
"No," Nick shook his head. "But it's only a matter of time. Folio is trying to get Jared to leave."
"Fuck you! Piece of shit!"
Oh no, I know that voice. I dream of that ethereal voice.
Nick and I both pushed past the now-growing group of people that gathered outside in the backyard. The party was long forgotten, and guilt ate away at me knowing it was my fault. This party was a going away party for Bad Omens because they leave for tour tomorrow. At first, I was nervous that I would have to leave and find somewhere else to stay but both Jolly and Noah reassured me I could stay here while they were gone.
There was a loud sound of skin hitting skin and what I saw made me halt in my footsteps. Folio had a hand on Noah's chest to keep him back from Jared, who was sporting a bloody lip.
Well, it was safe to say Noah knew Jared was here.
"That's all you got, lover boy? I've hit Y/N harder than that," Jared spit.
Noah pushed passed Folio to grab Jared by the collar of his shirt and lay a fist into his jaw, this time knocking him to the ground. I was still in my frozen state watching this all play out while both Nicks were holding Noah back and Jolly stepped in front of me when Jared glared up at me.
He spit into the grass before pointing at me. "You're wasting your time with her, Noah. She doesn't put out; bitch is still a virgin. Why do you think I cheated on her?"
Noah stiffened before his gaze finally landed on me, realizing for the first time I was watching.
Okay, maybe I didn't tell Noah everything about my relationship with Jared. I hid the fact that I was a virgin from him, something that seemed to shock him because Noah's lips were parted slightly. Now I knew any chance with him was nonexistent because of his one rule: He doesn't do virgins.
"It has nothing to do with them not knowing what to do. It's from personal experience. They might get too attached and I'm not looking for a relationship like that." His words echoed in my brain.
I cast my gaze down at my feet with the attention of everyone on me and tears burned at the corners of my eyes before they fell. Seeing me cry made Noah clench his fists and was fast on Jared, pinning him down to lay fist after fist into his face. The sound made me cringe as I tried to look away but couldn't. The muscles in Noah's back tensed as he laid a bone breaking punch to Jareds nose.
Finding this to be so attractive and hot is wrong but the way my pussy clenched, I knew I enjoyed being wrong.
People were whispering under their breath wondering if Noah was going to stop and fearing the worst, I stepped out from behind Jolly and over to Noah. There was blood from Jared splattered over the front of his sweater and the sight of Jared's mangled nose and mouth made me almost puke but I kept my eyes straight on Noah.
His name fell from my lips as I laid my hand on his shoulder. When he felt my gentle touch, Noah's body shook as he let out a breath.
"Come on," I urged him off of Jared. "He's not worth it."
Noah's eyes bounced from me to Jared before he rose off of him, giving him one last kick to his gut for the final blow.
"If you come near her again; if you even think of her again, I'll break every single one of your fingers," Noah threatened.
"Alright, I think the party is over," Jolly's voice carried as he dismissed the party goers.
As they slowly dissipated from the yard and house, I laid a hand on Noah's chest and felt the erratic pace of his heart. I then grabbed his hand and hissed when I saw the cuts and blood across his knuckles.
"I'm fine," Noah said while trying to pull his hand away.
But I gripped it tighter. "Let's get you cleaned up."
With a sigh, Noah agreed and as we walked back into the house, Jared's voice called after me.
"You'll come crawling back to me, bitch. You're nothing without me!"
Noah turned to lunge back at him but I was faster as I stalked back to Jared's crumpled body on the grass. Without a second thought, I pulled my foot back before sending it right into his face. I was only wearing socks so the hit of bone on bone made me gasp out in pain as I hobbled on my good foot.
"I'd say go to hell, but it looks like you're already there," I spat, motioning to the constant wounds that covered his face.
I tried to turn on my heels but the action made me fall to my knees and clutch my foot. But before I could hit the ground, Noah scooped me up into his arms and carried me inside.
"Noah," I protested.
He ignored me and walked through the now empty house and up the stairs. He passed the guest room and headed straight to his, kicking the door shut behind us.
"What are you doing?" I asked as he set me on the bed.
Instantly, I felt out of place. I've been to his house many times but never in his bedroom. I've seen what it looked like while he streamed but now actually seeing it with my own eyes, made me feel as if I was intruding in his personal space.
With be on the edge of the bed, Noah pulled over his computer chair and sat down while grabbing my injured foot. He carefully removed the sock and looked at the bruising skin.
"It's not that bad," I said.
He peered up at me through his lashes. "You could have broken your foot, angel."
My heart hammered in my chest at the nickname. Noah's called me that a few times throughout the years and every single time, it made my skin tingle. There was a soft knock at his door and we both saw Jolly peer his head in while holding an ice pack.
"Thought you might need this," he tossed it to Noah.
I smiled sweetly at him. "Thank you."
As the door closed again, I winced in pain when Noah pressed the ice pack to the top of my foot. Neither of us said anything for the next while, letting the silence fill the air, until the guilt for ruining the party ate away at me.
"I'm sorry about the party," I apologized quietly.
Noah let the ice pack fall to the floor as he leaned back in his chair with raised brows.
"Why the fuck are you apologizing?"
I shrugged while playing with my fingers in my lap. "I should have made him leave the first time I saw him tonight."
Now he tensed as his elbows rested on his knees. "When did you see him? What did he say to you?"
"Nothing, it's not important, Noah. Can we forget this even happened?" I begged.
The last thing I wanted was to repeat those hurtful things Jared spewed to me, especially to Noah. He was already angry, who's to say he won't find Jared and beat his ass. Again.
"Angel," Noah warned.
"Fine," I groaned. "I ran into him in the kitchen earlier tonight and he said the same shit he usually did. How I was pathetic and wondered what he ever saw in me. He also said that I'll push you away eventually because I'm-."
My voice broke off, not wanting to repeat those words. Although Noah already knew, I knew he would want me to say it.
"Because you what?" He pressed with a slight edge to his voice.
I knew it wasn't because of me but that did nothing to ease the slight fear in my gut. I had to keep reminding myself that Noah wasn't Jared. He wouldn't hurt me. But with everything Jared put me through, it fucked up my brain so that I couldn't tell the difference between someone that actually cared to one that only wanted to cause me pain.
I was so fucked up that I felt the need to lie to Noah about things because I was afraid of how he would react.
Jared was so controlling that I pushed all of my friends away, both the Nicks, Jolly, and Noah. And when I came crawling back after not listening to their warnings of Jared, they still took me in without a second thought.
I always knew, deep down, that I had strong feelings for Noah. I never said it out loud but as much as I tried to deny it, I knew that what I was feeling was that scary four letter word. But knowing that he didn't feel the same pushed me into the first man's arms that showed me a hint of attention.
"Angel," Noah's soft grip on my chin brought me out of my thoughts. "What else did he say to you?"
My bottom lip trembled as I let out a broken breath. Just this small gesture of kindness made my heart sore into my throat.
"He said that you won't waste your time with me because I'm a virgin. You have girls throwing themselves at you all the time, why would you waste your time with someone like me?"
My eyes squeezed shut for a moment to keep the tears away but when I opened them, Noah's gaze was burning deep into me, almost down to the core of my existence. I became nervous and tried to move his grasp from my face but it only made him grip my chin tighter.
"I'm going to kick his ass; again," He pushed himself away from me before rising to his feet.
"Noah," I reached for him but he moved too fast. "Just leave him alone, he's been through enough."
"Stop defending him!" he spun on his heels to point a finger at me.
I flinched at the sudden raise of his voice and Noah's face fell, guilt filling his eyes.
"Shit, I'm sorry angel," He ran a hand over his face. "I just hate hearing you defend him."
"I'm not," I stated with a shaky voice. "He's not worth it anymore, alright? I want to try to forget everything he put me through."
Noah eventually nodded and came back over to me except now he sat on the bed next to me. There was something radiating off of him and his fingers twitched in his lap. There'd been many times we were in closed proximity but something about right this moment made my palms sweat and belly burn with a rousing desire. I could smell his cologne as it engulfed my senses while his body heat wrapped around me like a safety net, letting me know Noah will do anything and everything to keep me safe.
"I should go-."
"Are you really a virgin?"
We both spoke at the same time but hearing his question made my cheeks burn with embarrassment.
"I'm humiliated enough with it being brought up in front of everyone tonight, please don't get me shit for it," I grumbled while crossing my arms over my chest.
Noah shook his head, his knee brushing against mine. A shot of electricity shot through me and I yearned to feel more of his touch.
"I'm not," there was something in his tone of voice that made me read the soft features of his face.
"It doesn't matter. It's not like a guy would find me attractive enough to want to sleep with me. I'm nothing special," I shrugged.
A muscle in Noah's jaw ticked. "Stop talking like that."
"It's true, Noah. No one wants a girl as damaged as me, especially a virgin," I stood slowly to my feet, not wanting too much pressure my bad foot. "I'm going to go."
As I tentatively walked past Noah, his hand gripped my wrist and pulled me into his lap, both of my knees landing on either side of him. His large hands gripped my hips to keep me in place as I fought against him, all while my heart was thundering in my chest. We were so close now, that I could feel his warm breath fan over my lips.
"That's bullshit," he spoke.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "You said it yourself, Noah. You don't do virgins. What makes any other guy different?"
One hand left my hip to cup my cheek. "You're different."
"Right," I scoffed. "You're just saying that to make me feel better."
Noah's eyes searched mine deeply, a slight frown pulling at his lips.
"He really fucked you up, huh?"
With both of my hands on his chest, I pushed him away. "I'm not worth it."
A squeal erupted from my throat when I felt myself being tossed onto the bed, Noah towering over me. Strands of his long hair cascaded around my face and without thinking, I brushed it back while running my nails along his scalp. Noah made a noise in the back of his throat when his eyes fluttered shut.
"You're worth everything, angel," he buried his face into the crook of my neck. "I'd get on my knees for you."
My breath caught in my throat at his words. Surely he didn't mean that. We never talked like this with each other.
"I have a lot of regrets," Noah now brushed his nose over mine. "One of them being not telling you how I felt earlier."
I gulped as my heart pounded loudly in my ears. No, he didn't mean what I thought he did. There was no way he felt the same.
"Noah," I breathed. "What are you saying?"
My fingers were still tangled in his hair as our eyes locked with each other.
"Let me prove to you that you're worth it, angel." His eyes sparkled as he almost begged me.
"Won't this-what about-," my words stammered over my tongue.
I was beyond nervous for what he was asking and I was afraid of what the outcome would be afterwards.
Noah's lips brushed along my jawline. "Let me be yours. I'll worship you and make you feel wanted and loved. Would you let me do that for you?"
Oh. Shit.
Every single part of me buzzed with so many emotions; shock, excitement, anticipation for what this meant, and the one that outweighed all of them was want.
I drank in the entire sight of Noah as he leaned over me. His hips hovered over mine while his lips continued to lightly brush across the skin of my jaw all the way down my neck. The small amount of facial hair that covered his face tickled with every brush and his long hair that fell out from the clip he used to keep it away from his face felt like silk against my fingers. Noah took off his sweater when we first came up to his room and now the colors of his various tattoos on his arms stood out in stark contrast to his white shirt.
"Yes," I finally said.
Quickly, his lips were on mine in a fiery, starving kiss and I moaned into it, never in my life experienced this amount of desire from someone. Noah wanted me, fucked up brain and all. His tongue molded with mine and our teeth smacked together, trying to devour every inch of my mouth.
When his hips pressed hard against mine, I broke apart the kiss to lean my head deeper into the mattress below. It felt so good when the outline of his cock brushed against my heated core, and I wanted needed more.
"Noah, please," I begged while raising my hips up into him.
"What do you want, angel?"
His mouth bit and sucked at the spot of skin beneath my ear, and I shuddered underneath him.
"Anything. I just need to feel something good," I admitted.
Noah leaned back onto his knees and motioned to my sweater. "Take it off."
I hesitated because I was only wearing a bra underneath and the thought of him seeing it made me suddenly nervous. He noticed because he leaned down to leave a tender kiss on my lips.
"Trust me. I've been wanting to see you like this for a long time. Take it off, angel."
With a nod, I sat up off of the bed and shed my sweater and to the ground. Noah's eyes darkened as he drank in the sight of my black lace bra and he licked his lips as he reached behind me to unclip it. It fell away from me onto the bed and immediately, his hands cupped my left breast, fingers pinching my nipples.
"Shit," I gasped, the feeling shooting straight down to my core.
"So perfect," Noah murmured while his free hand slid down my stomach to brush across the waistband of my leggings.
Without even asking, I raised my hips off the bed to help his slide them off of me. Now I lay in front of him in only a black thong and could faintly make out the outline of his cock in his jeans. Noah's eyes darted from my body up to my face, eyes holding mine steady.
"How far do you want to go?"
My mouth ran dry realizing what he meant. If we went through with this, Noah would be my first. And knowing how he felt about virgins gave me pause. He reassured me I was different but what would that mean for our friendship?
"Would this make things weird between us?" I asked biting my lip.
Noah groaned at the sight and left a kiss right where my lip was caught between my teeth.
"I thought I told you I'm yours, angel. I've wanted you for so long and now that I have you, I'm not letting you go."
For the hundredth time that night, my heart warmed at his words so I gave him his answer in a heated kiss and took off my panties myself.
"I'm yours, Noah." I repeated his words back to him.
Seeing me naked in front of him lit a fire under his ass because he scrambled off the bed and took off his shirt then pants and briefs in one go. I stared hungrily at the way his thick cock sprung free and slapped against the inside of his thigh.
Fuck, he looked absolutely gorgeous with his tattoos.
"I'm going to work you up before, alright? Spread your legs for me."
I did what he said, and when he saw the wetness between my legs, Noah groaned. "Just a taste."
Although, I never had sex I did fool around with Jared; oral and hand stuff. But nothing, absolutely nothing, compared to Noah and the way his tongue licked up my dripping arousal before rubbing small circles over my clit.
"Shit," I panted. "So good."
A finger slid over my entrance, up and down, before slipping inside of me. Noah worked his fingers in a slow rhythm while his tongue worked fast. Then another finger slipped inside and now, his fingers and tongue matched in pace as he brought me closer to the brink. My orgasm was cresting higher to its crescendo and my moans of pleasure echoed through the small room as my nails dug deep into the blanket. I arched off the bed while my knees shook, the wave of pleasure about to yank me in to drown me.
"Cum for me, angel. I want to taste every part of you," Noah breathed against my clit as his fingers speared inside of me.
His name rolled off of my lips in an earth shattering whine, the power behind this orgasm like nothing I've ever experienced.
"Good girl," he mused as he crawled up closer to my face.
I felt heat rush from my heart straight to my pussy at hearing his praise and nearly lost it when his lips met mine, forcing his tongue in my mouth so I could taste myself on him. My nails dug into the skin of his back to pull him closer to me. He had his cock held steady at my slick entrance and my mouth salivated seeing the pre-cum at the slit.
"Are you on anything or should I grab a condom?"
I nodded. "I'm on the pill. Even though I've never had sex, I still wanted to be safe."
"Okay, let me know if you want me to stop," Noah said.
When I nodded again, Noah slowly sunk the head past my lips and I tensed immediately which made him pull back when he was less than halfway in.
"Don't tense, just breathe with me."
Noah let out a deep breath along with me as he pressed deeper inside of me and I screwed my eyes shut when he met some resistance.
"Eyes on me, angel," he demanded with his hand wrapped around my throat.
Oh shit.
Noah's eyes were black now, filled with lust as he finally pushed past that resistance and sunk completely into me.
"Fuck, you're so tight." Noah leaned his forehead against mine.
His pace was slow, almost as if he was holding back, and while it hurt at first, now the pain subsided and all I felt was pure euphoric bliss when he slid his cock all the way out before pressing deep back inside.
"Oh, god," I raised my hips up to meet every one of his thrusts. "Faster, please."
Noah made a low noise in his chest as he lifted my leg over his hip so he could get a better angle and it made my eyes flutter shut when the head of his cock hit that perfect spot. His face bent low to my left nipple and ran his tongue over it in small circles before he did the same thing to the other one. My neck arched back, exposing the skin to him to beg for his tongue there. Noah obliged by biting down hard over the skin of my pulse point and I cried out his name.
"Say it again," he panted, his thrusts now going faster and deeper.
His name fell from my lips like a prayer with his of his thrusts and when the pad of his thumb stroked my clit, I spasmed against him. The familiar heat bubbled low in my belly and every cell inside ignited with that burning sensation that I desperately craved.
"I'm going to cum," I moaned.
"You look so beautiful taking my cock like this," Noah praised. "Such a good fucking girl. All mine; so fucking beautiful."
His sweet, affectionate words were exactly what I needed to grasp my orgasm. I came hard on his cock, my arousal coating every inch of him, and to keep my screams quiet I pressed kisses over the tattoos on his chest. Noah's fingers gripped me in a bruising grasp around my hips as his pace stilled for half a moment before he attacked my lips in a hungry kiss.
"Angel," Noah pressed deep inside me one last time, his cum filling my insides.
As we both came down from our shared highs, he pulled out of me and rolled onto his back while pulling me into his chest. I laid my head against it as he covered us with the blanket and left a tender kiss on my forehead.
"Are you alright?" Noah asked.
"Yeah, a bit sore but I'm okay," I laid my chin on his chest so I can look into his eyes. "Thank you, Noah."
He pursed his lips. "For what?"
"Everything. From earlier at the party to what we did. You made me feel wanted for the first time in a long time. I know you had that rule of 'no virgins'-."
"Hey," he cut me off. "I told you, you were different. I have every intention of making this a serious thing, angel."
We shared another kiss and when I pulled away, Noah cupped my cheek so I had no choice but to look in his eyes.
"If you let me, I'd spend the next handful of years making you realize your worth."
For once, the smile that spread across my face was genuine and bright, feeling the love course through me. "There's no way I'm letting you go, Noah."
I Will [Finnick Odair x Reader]
Pairing: Finnick Odair x Reader Song Inspo: Meet Me At Our Spot by The Anxiety Word Count: 2,713 Series: 1 | 2 | ? Summary: it's been years since Finnick was reaped. He came out victorious, as you'd prayed he would, but then disappeared from the public eye. It wasn't long before the Capital revisited District 4 for its next competitor. Fast-forward, you're the winner of the 75th Hunger Games, and can barely sleep. When the Capitol unveils its next phase for the Games, you're thrusted back into survival as old habits return... as do old friends. Warnings: cuts, use of blades, surveillance, depression, female rage, mentions of prostitution, mentions of murder, making out, mentions of sex Masterlist: see fandoms (pc-friendly)
You've been back for three weeks now. It feels like three years. You are the victor of the 75th Hunger Games. Your life is even worse than it was before your games, which was not meant to be part of the deal. Your entire family was dead. When you refused Snow's offer to make you a prostitute he killed them all. You thought he was bluffing. You thought he was bluffing. You thought he was bluffing. Now, you spend your days perched on your windowsill looking down onto the bottom floor, watching the other victors live. It provides minimal comfort knowing just because your life has taken a giant halt no one else's has. The only time you move from this spot is to go to the bathroom. Your legs are so stiff from minimal movement that you must hang onto the wall to steady yourself. You haven't showered. You've barely eaten, discounting canned foods. You're still in the clothes you wore when you arrived back. The only difference was a massive woolly blanket, providing some warmth in your cold, depressing room.
Someone comes over twice a day. You don't know who it is because you never actually look at them, eyes glued on the window. It's not because you're purposely ignoring them, but because you're lost in your own empty nothingness. And, as hard as you try, you can't fight your way back to reality. Whoever it is delivers your food.
Today was different though.
You hear them come in and remove their shoes. You hear them ramble through the kitchen for omething. After a while, their footsteps come towards you. You feel them put a hand on your slump, left shoulder. This is unusual but the difference is that you feel the urge to see who it is. You want to know who has been taking care of me. You want to know. So you find out.
"Welcome back to Earth, my dear." They say seductively with, face blurred by your unused vision.
"Finnick?" My voice all scratchy from no use.
"Wow," the blonde man said, "way to thank your mentor. But, fawn away, my dear!"
A wipe of the eyes reveals their true identity. A blonde man, indeed, but not yours. You've seen him on television during the 74th Hunger Games, often at the hip of its victors Katniss and Peeta.
"I know you."
"I'd sure hope so." Haymitch chuckles, stepping away to some stuff on your bed, his back to you.
"You... you've been helping me?"
"Of course. I couldn't let a pretty, little trainee like yourself starve, now could I?"
"Train for what?"
Haymitch paused. "You didn't see the news, did you?" You slowly shook your head, clutching your blanket. "Oh, jeez." The older man sighed. He grasped his mouth and stood silently, contemplating his next words. Having found them, he knelt in front of you as if you were a goner. "I'm sorry, kid... you're up next."
[ time skip - an hour later ]
An hour. That's how long Haymitch gave you to have a meltdown. You exploded with the pain, anger, and power of a thousand nukes. You obliterated your room - never careing for it anyways. You would've destroyed the building had physics not failed you. While you finished off your rampage with a primal scream, Haymitch waited outside the door and checked his watch.
Then he knocked. "Uh, kid. Time to go." You flung your door open and glared at him, eyes low and insides dead. "Hope you saved some of that rage for your combat."
The two of you head to the bottom floor. The elevator ride is quiet, and anyone who hops on ogles at you. Your hair sticks to your sweaty face. Your eyes are sunken and baggy. Your adrenaline is falling but you're still shivering. You look like a wild cat in captivity; tired, bitter, and vengeful. But worst of all, trapped.
You get to the ground floor and follow Haymitch to god-knows-where. Passing by training victors and their mentors doesn't faze you. You've played this game before. You won. You weren't confident you'd do it again, you just didn't care.
"Let's test out that fire on a target." Haymitch brought you to an assortment table of knives, spears, swords, and blades. He waved a finger across them. "Take your pick."
You grabbed the mezzaluna knife and peeked at your reflection. Your eyes... you'd be scared of you too.
You used to be so sweet and naive. You cared about others, maybe too much. You were selfless, self-conscious, and spineless. Killing people in an arena will take that from you. In a way, one of those victims was the old you.
'Rest in peace,' you thought.
"O-kaaay." Haymitch side-eyed you. "You ough to warm up before-" Your knife hit the bullseye with a sharp thud. "...Or not."
You threw the knife over, and over, and over until your palm sliced open. By Haymitch's advice, you took a breather and sought bandage. First aid wasn't a priority in the training hall, so you had to wander to find some proper wrappings. You didn't care if looking around made you appear clueness, or crazy, or weak.
A permanent "vacation" didn't sound so bad.
On your search, you saw Katniss Everdeen talking to someone by the rope stand. All you could see was his back and blonde hair. 'Peeta looks taller than on tv.' You thought to yourself.
Katniss looked over his shoulder, straight at you. You nodded, and she nodded back, a semblance of respect established. Her boyfriend watched her stare for a moment before turning around. By then you'd already looked away.
As you think about heading back, something within you begs you to stay. To look again, for whatever reason. Having nothing to lose or gain, you turn your head, which takes a lot of energy, and actually look and see who it is. You nearly faint as it's the person you never expected to see.
Finnick Odair.
He's squinting as if to make sure it's you. Then his eyes widen. At the same time, you both start for each other. The announcement feedback rings out, stopping you and him in your tracks. You step back and idle by, moving eye contact to the cement ground.
"Attention, victors. Let me be the first to welcome you," you didn't care to listen to the rest. All your mind could think about was Finnick. You hadn't seen him in almost 6 years, when he was torn from you and reaped. Just when he'd learned you two shared a soul mark. You pulled your sleeve down to hide it, paranoid a councilperson will see and tie you to Finnick. "but most of all, make your districts proud. Happy training! And may the odds be ever in your favor."
You try not to cry as the speaker ceases. Biting your lip, you peek back at Finnick's spot. His chest rises as he's huffing and staring at you, begging to be reunited. He looks so much older and buffer. His tan only complimented his gorgeousness. You had to have him.
But you couldn't, breaking your gaze. Not without drawing suspicion. So you bury alive your longing, conjure the numb beast born in your Hunger Game, and march over.
"Either of you know where to find wrappings?" You said, indirectly talking to Finnick but looking at Katniss. This was your way of tricking the cameras.
"I wouldn't, no." Katniss replied, scanning your body for the injury.
"I would." The man of your dreams said. Katniss looked at him, but you kept staring at her. "There's a kit cabinet, corner-east of the elevator. Should hold you down till the day's over."
You swallow the frog in your throat. It would be the first time you'd spoken to him since the day you lost him... You'd pictured that very moment countless times. The worst of circumstances had delivered. You couldn't even look into his eyes. Those beautiful, sea-foam eyes. You couldn't feel his eyes on you either. President Snow had control of you both, despite being nowhere nearby. It was no secret that man loved two things: using people as pawns and tearing people apart. You'd die before you let him do that to you and Finnick. Not again.
"And what if..." you cleared your throat, "what if I need another wrapping later on today?"
Finnick got quiet, picking up your breadcrumb. "There's a storage closet on the second floor. End of the hallway on the left. No one goes up there. Shouldn't be any eyes on you."
Eyes being cameras or guards, you understood. "Thanks."
Finnick started to say something else, but you walked away. Had you'd stayed any longer, you surely would've broken character and gotten the two of you killed.
[ time skip - later that night ]
Night fell and you were longing for Finnick's touch. Haymitch had finally fallen asleep, proved by his obnoxious snoring across the hall. You threw off your covers, revealing your blue, silk pajamas, and creaked open the door. Left, no one. Right no one. Empty hall. 'Thank God,' you sighed and tiptoed down it. The elevator button dinged and you jumped. You checked behind you, expecting your mentor or a guard. Empty hall still.
The elevator ride felt slower than usual. You lived on the 8th floor, so the 2nd floor shouldn't have taken that long. Then you remembered, making your face freeze and heart stop. There were cameras in the elevators. You curse yourself but evade looking at it. You should've taken the stairs. You hoped Finnick had.
'Finnick...'
The doors opened on the second floor. You walked out, almost robotically, and turned to the hall's end. 'End of the hallway on the left. Storage closet.' Finnick's words echoed in your head. You repeated it like a mantra as you headed that way. You finally got the storage closet door, no sign of entry. You reached for the handle when a dangerous feeling invaded you. You hadn't seen this man in nearly 6 years. You weren't the same, and perhaps so was he.
What if Finnick was deceiving you? 'No.'
What if guards are waiting behind the door?' No, he'd-'
What if Finnick was working with Snow? 'No, he'd never.'
How could you be sure? 'I'll prove it.'
You threw open the door and dove inside. Had you Finnick not caught you, you would've crashed into him. It was dark and dimly lit by a dying lightbulb. You saw illuminated Finnick's outline - his shape, really - but that was all. Not ideal circumstances, but they'd do.
"Y/N..." He was still holding you by the forearms. "Were you followed?" His voice read as serious, edging on emotionless.
"No." You said, hiding your dismay. For a moment, you regretted not bringing your knife. He had a hold of you, ambushed in a dark, small closet, in the middle of the night, and towered over you like Goliath.
Then a flashlight turned on under you. Once you saw his face, all the fear and paranoia dissolved.
"Good." He said charmingly with a sweet, gentle smile resting on his tan, god-like face. Suddenly he drops his Capitol self and you see another person not Finnick Odair but just Finnick. "I missed you s-"
You hugged him like you've never hugged anyone before. He rocked you side-to-side and you squeezed him tighter. You both chuckle as you break apart and look at each other.
"Gosh, Finn. You look so different." You gawked at his, well, everything.
"So do you, Y/NN." Finnick observed you with a sweet smile of disbelief. "Guess running for your life will do that to you." He joked, making you giggle.
Then it grew quiet as cruel reality set in.
You were both murderers. Both slaves to the Capitol. Both stuck inside a world you hate. Both surrounded by people you don't like. Even if he hadn't said it, his face told you. It had affected him too.
Your hands caress his cheeks as you mutter, "I wish things were different."
"I know what you're going through. I understand. And I felt terrible that I left without telling what," he sighed, "what you meant to me. I couldn't help you during your games because the Capitol wanted me to… take care of other business and Mags helped me a lot when I came home. So I should've looked for you, should've helped you, should've tried, because you deserve it."
You were too exhausted to cry. You contemplated aplogizing for not telling him about the soul mark. It happened so long ago that you couldn't recall if you'd said sorry then. When he was reaped and ripped away from you. So, you changed the subject. "You know why he killed my family, right?"
"Yes. Yes, I know why".
"You're a prostitute?"
"...Yes."
"To protect your family?"
"At first like you I refused then he killed my mother. The only family I had that was blood. Then he threatened to kill Mags. So I did it."
"I thought he was bluffing."
"I did too." Then Finnick's eyes fell to the ground, riddled with shame and uncertainty. "So... you don't mind? That I, uh..." his brows furrowed in angered remembrance, "that I'm... what Snow makes me do?"
You finally muster the courage to kiss him. His lips are salty and oh so plump. They mesh with yours perfectly. He grabs your face and deepens the kiss. You pull away to breath, eyes still closed and smiling. You licks your lips, relishing his citrus taste before being pulled into another kiss. Your heads move as your mouths devour each other. Your hands explore his back, sometimes tugging at his tanktop. He slides his tongue across your teeth, begging for permission. You open your mouth wide and let him slip it inside you. You suck on his long tongue and listen to his moans. As you suck and savor his slippery glossa, the idea of sex claws as you. You didn't want to soil the moment by [redacted]-ing Finnick.
Plus, you didn't have any condoms.
You let go of his tongue, which he rolled back into his smirking mouth. He dove in for another kiss but you caught his chest.
"I don't want to do it right away." You told him. You watched his face of arousal disappear, replaced by calm, and an understanding nod.
"I get it." He tucked your hair behind your ear. "We can stop here if you want."
Tears you resented stung your eyes. You bore into his chest, thoughts distant. "I don't think we can."
"Hey, hey," Finnick lifted your face, "what's wrong?"
"We're both victors, Finnick." You sniffled. "Do you really think they're gonna let two victors win again?"
It was true. Peeta and Katniss had gotten lucky. You and Finnick wouldn't be so, not if the Capitol could help it. The love you had would be destroyed, killed in the 76th Hunger Games. Not just the love between you, but one of you... one of you had to die.
"We'll find a way. Listen, listen to me. We will find a way. There's 59 days till the Games. We'll come up with a way to survive. Hide till it's over, fake our deaths, escape - whatever it takes. O-okay?" He plastered a weak yet hopeful smile. He brought your foreheads together. "I'm not losing you again. We just have to have faith. Okay?"
"We can't-"
"Promise me, Y/N. Please." Finnick begged, speaking and breathing softly. "Promise me you'll have faith in me. In us. Promise you will."
Every fiber of your being ignites. Faith didn't exist in the Hunger Games. Precision. Skill. Wit. Violence. Vigilance. Survival. That's what reigned. That's what would get you through the day. You hated doing it that way, but it had worked in the past. What Finnick was asking you was to basically abandon the protocol. To go against logic and defy the future, pretty much ensuring your demise. Could you trust what he was saying, or were your prior suspicions accurate? Could you use that against him, trick him as well? You just knew this wasn't going to end well, whatever happened. But for now, you'd play pretend.
"I will."
