Headcanon: Whenever Rook addresses Spite when he’s not possessing Lucanis , they try to look where they think he may be, based on cues the Crow gives. They want to be polite to Spite, but are worried that they will look stupid trying to talk to Spite, while facing in the wrong direction.

Lucanis assures them that they always guess correctly, but neglects to tell them that even when they are looking the wrong direction, Spite always moves to wherever they think he might be.

That Ring that Caterina uses to alert the Crows she's alive and kicking? The one that she originally gave to Lucanis's mother, in order to show her favour?

What if when attempting to return the ring to her, she insists that Lucanis keeps it, to give to someone he shows favour to?

And Lucanis wants to, he has the exact person in mind (and I suspect Caterina knows exactly who), but he cannot bring himself to do it.

Imagine him sitting on his cot after Tearstone Island, twisting the ring between his fingers, regretting that he kept putting it off.

A headcanon about Lucanis before he and Rook actually get together. He dozes off, and after a suspiciously deep nap, he awakes with a piece of the Lighthouse chess set clenched in his hand.

It's the Rook Piece.

And no matter how many times he returns it, he wakes up with him holding it.

Rook Ingellvar keeping the embalmed heart of Emmrich with them after he passes, only finally consenting to it being interred it when they are buried beside him.

Or Lich Emmrich keeping Ingellvar's embalmed heart with him.

Post Tearstone Island, Lucanis falls asleep in the pantry...

But keeps waking up in Rook's room.

It happens over and over and over again.

He eventually gives up and just sleeps in Rook's room. Strangely, his sleep is much more peaceful after that.

Headcanon that Tav, knowing Astarion was once a magistrate, asks him to marry them and their chosen romance. BONUS HEADCANON: They ask while in the middle of a life or death battle, with Astarion being

A scene I have in my head. Solas, who romanced the inquisitor, is taking a momentary breather from the battle of Minrathous, alongside Rook and Co. (This would take place where your party members have banter with him)

He sees Rook and Emmrich standing close together, the latter (which is the only party member who he has a respectful conversation with) healing a cut on Rook’s forehead, while offering soft assurances that he will be by their side until the end.

And then Solas hears Emmrich call Rook ‘My heart’, and his thoughts go back to his own vhenan, who is most likely in the ‘safer’ south. It reminds him that these mortals are not to different from him. They have love and loss, and the determination to persevere no matter what.

And he knows his betrayal will kill them both.

And when Rook looks at him, he realizes they KNOW he will betray them. That hurts even more than if they trusted him.

My personal headcanon is that De Riva Rook, upon seeing Viago panicking over a ‘threat’ the Dellemortes have sent in the form of a dagger, decides ‘waste not want not’ and keeps the dagger for themselves. They tuck it under their shirt, for an emergency.

They manage to put the pieces together much later during the events of Veilguard, but decide not to cause drama, so they remain silent. The dagger is now close to their chest, right over their heart.

Cue later on, during a particularly taxing fight, Lucanis finds Rooks unconscious body, alongside an enemy’s body, which has a very familiar dagger embedded into its skull.

In the Appendix of Lord of the Rings, there’s a scene where at Aragorn’s deathbed, the once immortal elf Arwen admits that she used to think mortal humans were idiots to fear the ‘gift of men’ (AKA Death). But now, about to see her mortal human husband peacefully pass away , she gets it. Why humans fear and despise death. Because it really hurts to be left behind, even under the best circumstances.

Anyways, I’d like to think a similar thing happens to Rook far into the future when Emmrich passes away. They remember the argument they had waaay back before Tearstone island. Emmrich’s fear of leaving Rook behind, and the pain that they will suffer when he dies.

Rook insists that it doesn’t matter, they love Emmrich too much to let his fears affect them. But now, with Emmrich’s body laying there, as if he’s simply sleeping, Rook finally gets it. Because the pain is nearly unbearable.

Imagine that both Lil'Dante and Lil'Vergil absolutely HATE having to share their birthday with the most annoying person on the planet. Imagine that on their eighth birthday, they both blow out their candles wishing they would NEVER have to share their birthday again. Now imagine on their ninth birthday... they both wish they could take that birthday wish back.

Thinking about a Mourn Watch Rook who is very badly injured in the field, to the point that they will bleed out before they get to safety. So the group decides to cauterize the wound.

Unfortunately Rook, delirious from pain (and possibly Elfroot) takes one look at the torch being used to heat up the metal to preform the procedure and starts screaming.

It takes the team a while to realize that Rook's not afraid of the cauterization, it's just that in their mental state, they think they're already dead and going to be cremated.

A quick idea:

Lil' Emmrich about to be crushed in the house collapse, when a figure in a hood and a mask appears out of nowhere to save him, holding up the beam that would have smashed his tiny body until he gets out of the way, and he and the mysterious saviour are covered by less lethal debris

He begs the masked figure to save his parents, but they can only give him a soft shake of their head, their eyes obviously remorseful. The best they can do is hold him, helping him maintain calm as rescuers go through the masonry.

Eventually, there's a chink of light and Emmrich takes the chance to reveal who his saviour is by ripping off the mask. He sees their face, and doesn't recognize them at all....

.... and then they vanish.

He commits their face to memory, searching for them, but never finding them.

And then, one of his academic correspondants, a lovely girl name Bellara Lutare pays him a visit, asking for his aid with something in the Fade.

And accompanying her is a face he has never forgotten.

Post game, Dorian who occasionally dabbles in time travel research, accidentally sends Rook into the past. He's terrified at what he may have inadvertently messed up with in the timeline, but Emmrich assures him that it will be fine.
