I want to start writing letters again and I am trying to think of people who wouldn't find that a weird overture, who'd actively enjoy getting something in the post from me, and whether my young cousins would be among their number. I don't get to see them a lot, so I don't want to just have No relationship with them, but I also don't know what to write to them about.

They do both have a lot of hobbies and extracurriculars, so I could ask about what they are doing for fun, I suppose, but I don't want to create the obligation of replying to me if they are too shy. My cousin J is (or was) very into origami and I recently got a book about flexagons, so maybe I could write to him about that.

I've been seeing a lot of posts lately talking about how no one comments/reblogs/replies/etc anymore, and, as someone who comments regularly on a lot of fanworks, it sometimes makes me wonder if my efforts are worth anything. Then I remember how much happiness I get from comments on my own work/posts and how much the community of fandom can matter, and I remember the power that can be found in spreading joy instead of disappointment.

So -- to everyone who comments on fanfiction: thank you. You make the writing process worthwhile and so very rewarding. You make people happy every day.

To all the people who reblog art and gifsets and meta and anything else with enthusiastic tags: thank you. You make people smile and promote interesting conversations and make being on Tumblr so much more fun.

To anyone who sends people asks about their works, whether it's unprompted or part of an ask game: thank you. You give people reasons to talk about things they love and feel like a part of a community.

can you explain the cube hostage theory you talked about in your post about aaravos?

ok! so CHET (cube hostage exchange theory) is a theory in the tdp fandom that can essentially be boiled down to 2 things!

(slight spoilers be ahead)

"The Key Of Aaravos" (the cube with elemental runes on it) is important to aaravos somehow, and is something he wants back.

Rayllum are mutually going to save & doom eachother

The foundation of the theory is that aaravos will somehow take rayla (or ezran, but most likely rayla) hostage, and demand that callum brings him the cube in exchange for her.

this idea of a hostage exchange is evidenced by 5x08 when finnegrin takes rayla captive and demands that callum give him the ingredients required for a spell in exchange for her.

it's also backed up by rayllum's whole "i would do anything for you"/"if you have to chose between me and the greater good"/"i need you to kill me" shebang of being helplessly devoted to eachother, callum doing dark magic for rayla, while rayla gives up her own wants and needs for callum, etc.

we clearly see that the cube has some significance, given that it is literally named the key of aaravos. also, no matter where you are in the world, it always rolls towards the sea of the castout. (Callum's spell book, 6x02) in 6x09, it also appears in a flashback with aaravos.

it's more complex than that, but if you want to learn about CHET, go to @raayllum ! they've been spearheading the theory for a while now, and know the most about it.
