Eddie walks through Washington Square Park on his way to work, basking at the chill in the air even though it’s only early September. Soon the leaves will turn yellow and orange and red, littering the sidewalks and grass with color. The air will cool in earnest, and he can bring out his favorite flannels as all the NYU students pull on their beanies and puffy coats and polar fleece.

In his most private thoughts, Eddie believes that New York City is at its most warm and welcoming in the fall; that the scent of coffee and roasted apples and cinnamon lingers in the air, that the yellow lights of warm apartments and the slow creep of fake spiderwebs and carved pumpkins calm the hearts and minds of scared tourists and jaded New Yorkers alike.

Eddie has this thing about fall in the city, right, but if you were to ask him his feelings about leaf peeping, or what-the-fuck-ever, he’d laugh in your face. Not that anyone ever asked him. He wasn’t the sort of man that gave the impression he cared about seasons. Honestly, his closest friends would probably express doubt Eddie even knew what the seasons were. 

He stops at a coffee shop, picking up drinks and pastries, before walking the remaining few blocks to his store.

He unlocks the security awning and the door, and as he pushes it wide, he takes the same deep breath he’s taken since the moment he stepped inside five years ago, inhaling the scent of paper, ink, dust, and patchouli, letting it fill his lungs and level him out.

God, he loves this place. He doesn’t know shit about books or running a business, but this place is his place, even before he owned it. He loves the built-in hardwood shelves, the polished floors, the crown moldings, the soft blue paint of the walls; the too-fancy crystal light fixtures; the solid wood chunk of the front counter, barely big enough for two people to stand behind; the way the smaller store front opens into a wide, inviting space; the swinging half-door into the tiny office that’s cluttered on a good day and a beloved disaster zone normally.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense, in the chronology of his life and interests, that he’d find himself owning a queer, new age bookstore in New York City at the ripe old age of twenty-five, but here he is. Making it work. Mostly.

ONE OF MY FIRST EVER HSR MOOTS AND ONE OF THE WRITERS I LOOK UP TO THE MOST. her writing style is very scenic?? if i were to describe it, it's very dreamy and whimsical and it's like reading a fantasy book. very descriptive but not so descriptive that you're eating fancy words. she's jing yuan centric but occasionally writes for others such as dan heng and sunday! she's honestly very very silly when it comes to interaction, like in an older sister way <33 she talks like an aesthetic if that makes sense

BUT THEY'RE SO SWEET. her writing is literally sunlight put into literary terms, if that makes sense. it's warm, comfy, and cozy (except when she kills you in the arms of your favorite character. which she has done) and i highly recommend her writing for a comfy read <3

q has a very pretty vibe if that makes sense, i haven't read much from them but i can definitely say that their writing style is beautiful, like a meadow full of flowers or a quiet stream. they've always been kind to me in that sort of older sibling way, and they're someone that i would trust as an emergency contact. lots of genshin and hsr from what i've seen on my dash, so definitely go check them out!

avery's on the more reserved side, at least from my point of view, or maybe that's because when i first met them they had a ferminet pfp. they're pretty chill and casual, and can i just say? their writing is very easy to read, it has great flow and i can just lose myself in the fic. like i don't see the words i see what the words are saying, if that makes sense. avery also focuses on platonic writing, although they have been writing some romance with furina!! my personal favorite work of theirs was that fic of arlecchino comforting her crying child because it made me feel so much better about my life at 9 am when i just woke up.

I started following them on tiktok a few months ago (like May??) and started officially stanning them last month (I even got their YouTube membership lmao, I’ve never done that before).

They’ll debut next year and currently there are four members but they’ll likely add one or two more. The current members are Hyuk (‘00, North Korean), Seok (‘00, North Korean), Kenny (‘02, Chinese-American), and Aito (‘05, Japanese-Korean)!

Reasons to stan: they’re fucking hilarious for starters (their TT and “Kenny’s Cooking Show” on YT), they’re super talented (check out Hyuk’s song “Ordinary Person” and their covers on YT and TT), and also their company Singing Beetle is (seemingly) taking a very different (quote: “wholesome”) approach to managing a kpop group and I love it (and I hope they don’t suck behind the scenes or I’ll commit arson)
