“ i swear to god i’m going to scream at the top of my lungs. “

“I swear to god, it’s like babysitting a child.” That was a little rich coming from Hana considering she acted like one almost 24/7 and she was a couple of years younger than him.

But that had always been how their friendship was and she wouldn’t have it any other way–he was the closest person to her, her best friend who knew every single detail about her and she (thought she) knew every single detail about him but he had been harbouring a deep secret for many years now. As he opened his mouth to begin his tirade of screams, she quickly shuffled over to him with lightning reflexes and covered his mouth with her hand which was engulfed in the sleeve of his oversized hoodie she had stolen that morning.

“Don’t even think about it, Einstein.” Pulling her hand away, she shoved a snack in his mouth to pacify him for the time being. Was she this much hard work when she was being needy and wanted attention? To be fair, she was probably even worse yet that look on his face made her melt and she hate him for it, why did he have so much power over her?

He had been a lot more affectionate than usually lately and he seemed like a lost puppy (if only she knew). The feeling of his hands placing themselves against her slender hips and hoisting her closer to him made her blush as she looked over her shoulder, cheeks burning a delicate rosy hue. So, this was what he was wanting? To get her as close as physically possible? It was normal for them at the end of the day.

Leaning against him, she closed her eyes and smiled as the warmth of the sun shone down on them but there was still a nice breeze to keep everything cool. From an outsiders point of view, she knew they probably looked like a couple but that wasn’t the case. They were just extremely comfortable with one another. The feeling of his arms wrapping snuggly around her abdomen and pulling her close made her smile. “So, if I stay like this, you’ll keep quiet?” He nodded his head and laughed which had her smiling in return.

“I know you do, thank you for being the bestest friend in the whole world!”

With that, she was gripping onto him like a koala, her arms wrapped around his torso from behind and her head coming to rest against his shoulder as she closed her eyes--pure elation overcoming her. Just knowing that he was there with her meant so much, she didn’t know what she would do without him in her life--he had become her everything. He was always there when she was down, just one phone call and he would be with her in seconds. 

There had not been a day that went by where they didn’t talk unless they physically couldn’t such as when he went to ‘visit his family’ for a week every so often. He had been with her through break ups, through promotions, through the hard times and the good times and he had become her rock. The only person she could truly count on when she needed it. “I love you too, I don’t think you realise how much.”

Shyness suddenly overwhelmed her--they had gone for lunch at the park and she had felt uneasy around him all morning. He had stayed over that evening because she didn’t want to be alone. They always shared each others bed, it was nothing new but last night she ended up having a bit of a risqué dream. All would have been fine and she probably would have laughed it off if it wasn’t for the fact it was him that was the other person.

She had woken up in a hot flush, the sweat pretty much dripping off of her as she went into the bathroom for a cold shower. She didn’t have those dreams often and if she did, it was with some random person who she wouldn’t even remember when she woke up. So why was she thinking back to this so vividly? Every time she closed her eyes, visions of him in questionable positions would flood her mind and she ended up staying up for the rest of the night trying to distract herself with video games.

The morning had been uneventful--she had tried to stay out of his way, unable to look him in the eyes but when he asked her to go for lunch, she couldn’t deny it.

The second she heard what he had to say, she felt the knot tighten uncomfortable in her stomach and she tried to laugh it off as best she could but it was clear her anxiety and nerves were showing through. He had slept beside her hundreds of times and he had never said that to her before. So, why would he start now? Unless something had piqued his interest in the middle of the night. “I-I’m sure I don’t, you were probably just dreaming!” 

Shit. What had she said? So much for getting it out of her mind. How deep of a hole had she dug herself into this time. The anxiety pooled in her stomach and through her laughter, she wanted to cry but she knew he would see right through her and question it. He knew her better than anybody else. “It’s a beautiful day, right?!” Smooth, Hana.

The male hadn’t stopped bothering her all night and she was beginning to get pretty sick and tired of the whole thing as he came up to her for the umpteenth time asking if she was sure she didn’t want to go out on a date with him. He kept showering her with what he clearly assumed were compliments but being told she was ‘hot as fuck’ wasn’t the most flattering thing she had heard that day. Rolling her eyes, she sat and nursed her drink trying her hardest to ignore him while she waited for her best friend to arrive.

Hopefully the second he showed up, then the creep who was now just staring at her with the weirdest smile on his face would leave her alone. Looking at her phone, she quickly opened up her chat with him before typing out that he needed to hurry his ass up otherwise she was going to order for him and eat all his food.

A small smile graced her lips when she noticed her phone light up and saw in the preview him telling her to follow his lead when he arrived. He clearly had a plan up his sleeve and she trusted him fully. As the male opposite the bar ordered her a drink, she politely declined and told the bartender that she didn’t want it before the sound of somebody entering caught her attention. A sigh of relief escaping the gamer when she saw the familiar face as he wandered over to her, pressed a kiss against her cheek (which was a common occurrence between the two of them anyway) and wrapped an arm protectively around her waist. 

Chills were sent down her spine as she leaned against him realising that he was playing the act of her boyfriend just so this creep would leave. A rosy hue dusted the apples of her cheeks however when Niko dug his fingers into her side before sliding down to her hip and tugging her a little closer--anything to make it believable. One glare was sent the others way before he was downing his pint and scurrying out of there as though it was on fire.

Laughter escaped the two of them as the male let her go and sat down on the stool next to her--shaking his head in amusement. “I honestly can’t believe that worked!”

‘ i had a bad dream. is it okay if i sleep in here? ’

When she heard the shuffling in her room, she hadn’t been completely awake but as soon as her bedside light was switched on, dark optics flickered open and adjusted to the brightness before she inclined her head to the side and noticed him squatting down beside her bed, those doe like hues glistening slightly at her, the small nose and those pouty lips. His messy hair even more messier than usual and for a moment she felt butterflies in her stomach at being awoken to such a sight. She could get used to th–no, Hana. You’re sleepy, stop it.

The feeling of him picking up one of her plushies and holding it out to her almost as though it was a peace offering made her smile as she she shifted over and pulled back the covers allowing him to join her in bed. The feeling of the mattress dipping as he got in made her extremely aware of how close he was but it wasn’t like they hadn’t done this before. Taking a hold of her pikachu as he leaned over to switch the light back off, they laid in the moonlit room in comfortable silence before she turned her head to look at him, the silver lighting creating an ethereal glow upon his skin.

At first she was going to ask him about his dream but the last thing she wanted was for him to relive it, so she stopped herself before watching him momentarily, her eyes slowly coming to a close. “Hopefully you’ll sleep better this time round. If you have another one, just wake me up--” and she was gone.

NIKO falls asleep on HANA. // DESTROY ME CUJFJCJS

Hana didn’t know how long she had been playing for all she knew is she was determined to complete Until Dawn that evening without ANY of them dying. She had lost count how many times she had played through but she wanted to perfect it. They were all going to get out of there if it killed her. While she wasn’t as much as a fan of interactive games such as this, she was hooked on the story line and she often enjoyed to play it if she wanted something easy and not competitive. Despite being horror based, it was rather relaxing for her.

Niko had joined her part way through and ALMOST made her pick an option which she knew would be the end for one of the characters. She narrowly missed it which in turn made him narrowly miss the controller being thrown at his head. In turn he sat down beside her and had been watching her play. Every so often jumping at certain things on screen turning it into a comedy for her more than anything.

The feeling of him slouching into her as the night went on had her raising a brow and every so often, she would incline her head to make sure his eyes were still open but just as she was about to call it a night, she gazed down to see his eyes shut, long eyelashes fluttering against his cheeks and she couldn’t help but smile. He had looked rather exhausted when he had come in earlier on. 

Not having the heart to move him and disrupt his peaceful slumber, she carefully placed the controller down before shifting slowly and carefully so she was able to wrap her arms around him and hold him close to her. Being able to be so close to him meant the world to her, just knowing that he was always there was something more special than she could even begin to imagine.

“Goodnight pup, sleep well.” She whispered softly, combing her fingers through his hair before placing her head against the back of the couch and trying to get herself as comfortable as she could so she could drift off and join him in the land of nod.

‘ c’mon, lazybones. you’ve slept enough. ’

“Noooo, it’s the day of rest.” It wasn’t, that was Sunday and it was Wednesday today but she would give it her best shot if it meant it would get him off of her back. Why was he wanting her to get out of bed. Something about it being a beautiful day outside and they should spend it together but she had a date with her duvet. Snacks and netflix being invited to the party later on. A groan escaped her as he tried to tug her out of bed and she shook her head stubbornly before pulling him down so he had no choice but to fall beside her.

When he stayed put and didn’t even attempt to move, she smiled with glee before grabbing the remote and turning on the television so she could go to her apps and put on netflix. “We exercise all the time.” That was a lie, the most exercise she did was lifting her arm up to put food into her mouth. Snuffling a little, she pulled open the covers for him and patted the spot next to her. “This side will be cold if you don’t occupy it and when I want to roll over later on tonight, I’ll get chilly.” She was talking nonsense but it was all a plan to distract him into staying and letting her have a lazy day.

“you’re a horrible liar. i’ve known you far too long to be able to tell.”

“M’not...” she mumbled under her breath, grumbling a little that he had caught her out. So what if she had stolen his favourite hoodie and gotten it a little dirty? Shouldn’t have been raining and muddy that day, should it? Yes, that’s right, Hana. Blame the weather and not the fact that you’re in the wrong. But within seconds, she was already smiling and she cursed herself for being unable to keep serious even under such circumstances.

”I don’t even know how it ended up that way!” Folding her arms over her chest, she stuck her nose up in the air, she was going to try and keep up this damned facade that she was clueless. “Maybe you should figure out better ways to wash it. It was probably like that because you’re bad at laundry!” 

Keep digging, Hana. Keep at it. It was definitely going to come round and bite her where it hurts. As he kept staring her down, she could feel herself slowly crumbling before she groaned and stomped her foot like a child. “Oh my god, fine! I stole it because all mine were in the wash and I was gonna put it back before you noticed but... I had a bit of an accident.” A pause, “you just peer-pressured me into the truth.”

“ please , let me listen to celine dion in the dark in peace. “

“You’re not coming over, are you?” She spoke quietly into the phone--the pout forming on her lips when he said no. Why had he been so distant with her that week? Had she done something wrong? The pure panic and fear that she had done was set off within her before she heard his excuse and she felt her stomach drop uncomfortably. “You don’t even like Celine Dion...” her voice was sad under the realisation that he was clearly avoiding her. He could have at least come up with a better excuse.

Her heart twisted in her chest and she felt the phone drop a little out of her hands before gripping onto it once more and nodding her head even though she knew he couldn’t see it. He was silent and if it wasn’t for the slight static (which made her even more suspicious) she would have assumed he’d just hung up. “It’s okay, Niko. I understand.”

NIKO braids/brushes/plays with HANA’s hair.

The feeling of her best friend running his fingers through her hair was making her feel extremely sleepy--he had just gotten back from his weeks disappearance but she chose not to ask him about it anymore. The last thing she wished was to make him upset with her. She knew he must have been having a hard time and it was clear that he was unable to tell her so she respected his privacy.

Looking up at him when she felt his gaze on her, she felt her stomach flutter slightly as she tilted her head to the side and gave him a questioning glance before his long fingers gently made a braid in her hair. No words needed to be spoken between the two of them as she simply wrapped her arms around him and buried her head against his chest allowing him to know how much she had missed him through her actions--his hands still tangling through her hair making it clear on how he felt also.

‘ time for bed. no ifs, ands, or buts. ’

“Now listen here, Mr. You are not the boss of me! If I wanna stay up and play games then I will do so--” she was cut off by a yawn, her eyes closing momentarily as the sleepiness overtook her entire being and she wobbled a little on the spot. Perhaps she should have stayed sat down. She was way too stubborn for her own good though and she wanted to stay awake to finish this level. She hoped the extravagant rise to her feet and dramatic tone to her voice would have convinced him otherwise but when he stood there before her with his hands folded across his chest, that disapproving expression tainting his features, she stomped her foot like the child she was and grazed past him. “FINE!”

‘ are you listening to anything i’m saying? ’

Too engrossed in her anime and eating her noodles, she hadn’t really been paying much attention to anything the male had been saying. Putting in a little too much for her mouth to handle, she slurped them all up in the most unladylike manner before she caught his judging gaze in her peripheral vision. Glancing at him, she huffed, sauce all around her chops. “You’ve known me for god knows how long, don’t start with the judgy stares now.” 

Turning her attention back to her show, she grumbled when he kept talking and she had to pause it. “This is a really big storyline, Niko… we get to find out if Team Rocket were responsible this time or if it’s something else. Jessie and James aren’t ALWAYS the bad guys, in some episodes they can be pretty damn helpful!” Jeez, everyone knows that.

Watching him just stare at her as though she had two heads, she ate another load of noodles before looking back at the screen. This was important stuff.

“you’re freezing. come here.”

“I’m okay… really.” She spoke between her teeth chattering making it very clear that she wasn’t. She had been invited to an after con party with a lot of officials from gaming companies and others that wanted to hire her and she had been asked to bring a plus one–naturally she brought her best friend which she noticed most of the girls in the room fawning over him. Was that a slight pang of jealousy there, Hana? No. She would be head over heels if he got himself a partner who actually loved him for him, she simply didn’t like the way these women were looking at him like a piece of meat, that was all.

Having decided to make a bit more of an effort than she usually did because of the amount of business people around, she was dressed in heels and a very short dress but it meant she was feeling the cold a lot more and she could see his concern for her all evening.

As she sat on one of the fancy leather couches while everybody else mingled, she felt him sit down next to her and she shuffled closer for body heat but when he put a hand on her arm, he raised his brow before wrapping his arm around the back of her, hand resting carefully on the curve of her hip before pulling her flush against him. A rosy hue dusted the apples of her cheeks–while this was normal for them to do at home, she knew it must have looked a little differently towards the average eye. She could see people whispering already but Niko’s hand refused to move.

‘D.Va’s new beau’, she could see it now in all of the gaming news articles–people gossiped and twisted stories with the slightest thing. He was forever showing up in her streams and despite telling people that he was only her best friend–this question was getting more and more frequent. Yet the warmth his body was radiating had her comforted so she wasn’t about to move just because people couldn’t mind their own business.
