Just found out that a celeb in my country bought jewelry that was made from desecrated burial sites. Like wtf 😭😭😭 disrespectful.
instagram
Absolute disrespect of artifacts and ancestors there.
Basically these death masks are gold jewelry in places like Surigao and Butuan made for the dead so they could bring them to their afterlife.
Source: thepinaywriter on IG, I recommend following her if you want to learn about Filipino culture especially from pre-colonial era
#txt#this is giving kim kardashian wearing marilyn monroe's skin tight dress#man beauty could've gone for like remake of the death mask pieces but nooo it has to be the pieces from.the ancient burial sites#either leave them be or put the masks in the musuem#Instagram

Random question:
I see something in common here...
In the left we have: big woman, Goddess of death
And in the other side we have: big man, Grim reaper
I think Phil has a type, what do you think? 😆
LITERALLY CANON.
I suffer as a crow every time when he goes into the musuem because he always mentions Big Missa.

I went to the anarchist/abolitionist healthcare conference this weekend, and it was really a beautiful experience that I don't even have words for. Being able to share resources, knowledge, dreams, and joy together with other people invested in this work was so special, and I gained a ton of hope by seeing the many ways that other people are actively engaged in resisting these fucked up systems and building care into our communities. I gave a presentation about psych abolition, talked about resistance within the psych ward, and got a standing ovation from a room filled with 50 people, many of whom were mental health professionals looking to build solidarity. I legitimately almost cried because of being to have that experience with my mad comrades. I met so many beautiful crazy people who intimately understand what it means to survive as a mad person, and just gained so much knowledge from people actively putting their abolitionist values into practice. I want to share a few of my favorite resources that I became aware of at this conference, and I'll make another post later with some of my key takeaways.
Mutual Aid Self/Social Therapy: This is a support framework designed by one of my friends that provides an intentional structure for providing therapetuic support within communities, especially organizing communities where there's a lot of burnout. It offers so many resources for skills training to allow anyone, whether you have a background in emotional support or not, to set this up within your community. The framework is purposefully not hierarchial or transactional, and allows for actually addressing people's material conditions as well as providing space for emotional processing.
Of Unsound Mind: Incredible archive and research on psychiatric history. Mostly focused around America, but also has some info on other countries. The author of the website will be coming out with a book later this year, which I think is mostly going to be about the Trieste, Basaglia, and that history of psych resistance in Italy.
Power makes us Sick: Collective that focuses on autonomous healthcare and emotional support, especially in terms of autonomous trans healthcare. Has some fabulous zines and resources.
A Corpse among Corpses: Incredible documentary about asylum graveyards in the Midwest and the trade of graverobbing for experimentation in medical schools, and how this connects to settler colonialism, slavery, eugenics, and modern gentrification. Really do want to emphasize a trigger warning for genocide, eugenics, medical violence, self harm, antiblack racism, instituionalization, and lots of discussion of death. I talked a lot with the filmmakers, and really appreciated their care and intent in making this film as a way of bearing witness rather than exploiting atrocity in the name of art, but do want to be very clear that this film is incredibly heavy to watch and might be something worth doing with other people. It was deeply impactful for me, and made me tear up many times.
The Living Museum: Through transforming the old Creedmoor hospital grounds into a musuem and workspace for current patients to showcase their art, this space celebrates psychiatric resistance, transformation, struggle, and joy. I really want to go visit and share in that space, as it seems just so fucking cool. It seems like you might need to contact directly to schedule a visit.
Cahoots Crisis Response Model: This is one model for crisi intervention teams that respond instead of police. They are not perfect, still have some enagement with police, but are an interesting example of how to try to implement these types of programs. Since theyv'e been around for 25 years, they have a lot of knoweldeg and could be a good first group to reach out to if you're trying to create this in your community.
Overall this whole weekend was a beautiful example of how to put our values into practice, and really just wanted to share these projects with you all!

I find it very interesting that one person said that “Most Native Americans are dead, so there’s nothing that can be done about American colonisation.” Like, isn’t that one of the people oldest tricks to use to avoid talking about the lasting impacts of colonialism ??
Dear anon,
shocker this is how some europeans (polish) and arabs talk about genociding all their Jews
well they're dead no need to give reparations to refugees or creat musuems
but ALSO it's such an american scapegoat tactic 'my complicity in genocide is excusable but Jewish ones is punishable by death'
I wish the indigenous people of whatever state/province they live one will send them a strongly worded ask but after their post got hijacked by the minority they so hate that would kicking them why they're down
yours,

Knight of time
The Knight of Time [symbols: shield, gear]
The Knight class has its basis in the classic knight from Arthurian legend. An example would be Lancelot.
The Time aspect’s main themes are endings and destruction. You can find its official description here.
A Knight of Time is among those who use physical existence. This is the “classpect group” they belong to. Members include: the Knight, Page, Thief, and Rogue of Space/Time. These classes are all opposites or inverses of each other that use the Space/Time dichotomy (physical existence). A description of classpect groupings can be found here.
The Knight of Time actively utilizes the Time aspect. Active classes tell themselves what to do and do so for their own benefit. They are more likely to stand up for themselves, but more likely to be cruel. Knights and Pages use their aspect and everything it symbolizes as a tool. Simplified, the Knight of Time is motivated by themselves to utilize endings and destruction.
In personality, the Knight of Time puts on a front to hide an insecurity and has a strong desire for closure. Personality descriptions can be found here.
Their archetype is the Defender Harbinger, defined by guarded endings and destruction. Archetypes are explained here.
Their opposite is the Page of Space, who passively utilizes creation and beginnings.
Their inverse is the Rogue of Space, who passively steals creation and beginnings.
A classpect or “god tier” is an individual’s best self. All classpects go through a journey from unrealized, to struggle, to realized. When a character is unrealized, they neutrally exist as their inverse. On their struggle, they will wildly flip back and forth between their inverse and true classpect. In their worst moments they will act as their inverse, in their best their true classpect. When realized, they will stabilize as their true classpect. They will still have room to grow, but will become happier, more successful people.
This means that the Knight of Time begins life motivated by others to steal creation and beginnings. When their struggle arrives and they are at their worst, they will continue this behavior in negative extremes. However, when at their best, they will find purpose in instead utilizing endings and destruction for themselves. When realized, they will stabilize and continue to utilize the Time aspect actively, in a positive way.
They share their archetype with the Witch of Doom, the Harbinger Defender.
The Knight of Time would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Haze [Knight] and Time [Aspect]. An example would be the Land of Ash and Graveyards. An explanation of planet naming conventions can be found here.
Two possible gods, or denizens, to reign over their planet would be Chronos (God of Time) or Hephaestus (God of the Forge). Other Time aspect denizens can be found here.
When the Knight of Time completes their planet quests and dies on their quest bed, they would rise to ascension on the wings of crows (symbols of death). A list of soul animals can be found here.
The characters that I have currently classpected as Knights of Time are: Dave Strider from Homestuck [canon example], Dave Strider (post-scratch) from Homestuck [canon example], the Third Doctor from Doctor Who, Cable from X-Men, Nicholas Daley from Night at the Musuem, and Mac McDonald from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
If any of the links not connected to my blog break, the content can be found on my Google Drive.

It's arguably one of the most famous sequences in an already famous movie. Trapped on a mysterious island, the beautiful actress Ann Darrow (played by Fay Wray) is menaced by a gigantic predatory dinosaur. Her only hope of survival comes in the form of King Kong, the massive titular ape that battles the carnivore in a brutal fight to the death that ends with the ruler of Skull Island dispatching the tyrant via breaking its jaw.
Time and again, this battle has been homaged and parodied by many knock offs and media throughout the years. The image of a gorilla battling a dinosaur may as well be ingrained in pop culture, all the way up to 2021 with the release of Godzilla vs. Kong.
Throughout it all, a single burning question remains:
Just what the heck is this guy?
While general consensus and history has described it as a Tyrannosaurus, there's another popular theory that it might actually be an Allosaurus due to the three fingers instead of the more traditional two associated with T. rex.
Now obviously when discussing stuff like this it's good to look at the words of the creators...except even the creators are divided on what it is. According to King Kong: The History of a Movie Icon from Fay Wray to Peter Jackson by Ray Morton, director Merian C. Cooper referred to it as an Allosaurus. By contrast, stop motion animators Willis O'Brien and Marcel Delgado describe it as a Tyrannosaurus. The script itself doesn't help since it only refers to as a Meat-Eater, a title which was adopted on its page by Wikizilla.
Feel free to take a look at the script with this link if you're interested:
In short, we've got conflicting ideas one what it is, and it's up to the viewer to decide. Personally, I do think it's possible to come up with a definitive answer when you consider the general perception of theropod dinosaurs at the time as well as the real inspiration that went into what we'll refer to as the Carnosaur for now.
These days when you look at a depiction of a Tyrannosaurus and Allosaurus side by side, you can tell them apart. Back then though when dinosaurs were still new and were still being properly classified, it was believed that the two species were closely related. This is reflected in contemporary depictions, where the two were depicted as looking a lot like one another.
As seen above in a pair of beautiful paintings done by the legendary Charles R. Knight, both look very similar to one another. There are some key differences of course, particularly with the slimmer build of the Allosaurus and the stubbier arms of the Tyrannosaurus, but to an untrained eye they do look very similar to each other. So, the confusion between the two can be understandable.
What helps us was that these paintings helped inspire Willis O'Brien with his depiction of both species in The Lost World (1925). While the Allosaurus was the primary big carnivore, a Tyrannosaurus DID make an appearance hunting and killing an Agathaumas (a ceratopsid that's now considered a dubious genus).
Again, we can see the difference here. The Allosaurus is a bit slimmer and has longer arms. While admittedly I couldn't find a clearer image of the Tyrannosaurus model, we do see that it is a bit bigger and has much shorter arms.
If we compare these two images side by side, we can see that the Carnosaur from King Kong resembles the Tyrannosaurus from The Lost World. Both have a bulkier build than the Allosaurus, and both have shorter arms. Admittedly they are being depicted with three fingers which has led to some confusion, but this is also easily explained since T. rex was believed to have three fingers at the time. The very first mounted skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex at the American Musuem of Natural History (AMNH 5027), featured the three fingers.
This particular specimen in my mind helps cinch the view that the Carnosaur is in fact a Tyrannosaurus. According to Ray Morton again, this display at the American Museum of Natural History, this was the display that served as a model for the animal seen in King Kong. All the evidence, from a look at the models to how predatory dinosaurs were depicted during the time all points to the animal being a T. rex.
That being said, the confusion between the two species is understandable. They weren't depicted as being as distinct as they are nowadays. But it is important to remember how dinosaurs were depicted back then by the scientific community to better understand how they were depicted in movies and popular culture released at the same time.
A big thanks to Wikizilla for providing a bit of a roadmap for this post.

My weirdest dream was when I dreamed that L was an actual real detective and historical figure in the past. He was a very famous detective around 19th century. No one knows his identity until his death. I went to a musuem about him. It was a library full of books and explanation about cases he solved in the past. There's even a wax figure on the second floor of him and watari, and his biography. I wish I could go to that museum again. 10/10 experience.
Dang I wish I could go to that museum too!

I was very nervous about today. My redo of my workshop that I had to cancel because I was so sick. But I was also excited. It was going to be a good day.
I didn't sleep great. It got really cold over night and the window next to me was open and my skin was super dry when I woke up. And my hair felt weird. I would braid it and try to moisturize my face. Mixed results on both fronts. But it was still a good day.
James drove us to the museum. We stopped for breakfast. And they would help me bring everything inside. Because they are the best.
I got everything set up. Stanley helped me out. We would chat for a bit as well. He's so sweet. His granddaughter was coming to the class today and I was looking forward to having her.
While I was mostly focused on setting up I would go check with James a few times about stuff. Eventually I was just sitting there while they ran to do something before the musuem opened. Where I got to meet the new security guard. Who is very much 'into' conspiracy theories. Not like me and Jordan are though. This guy like actually believes it.
So I decided to put crazy him. Oh there's chemicals in the water? Well all water used to be dinosaur pee. Oh the are poisoning is through the melting glaciers? Well did you know everyone who goes to Antarctica has to get their appendix removed? And that we have a new organ that was discovered in 2017??? Did not let this man get a word in edge wise, just absolutely info dumped on him. It tickled me to death. Bob the blacksmith was there too and was also giggling at me.
Soon though the museum was open and my workshop students were slowly trickling in. I have a great group!! A mom, grandma, and grandson. A mom and daughter and a grandmother and granddaughter. Two sets of couples. And the a single woman around my age and Stanley's granddaughter. And it was so fun.
There was a lot happening in the musuem today. Two different kinds of tours, blacksmith, photography, bread drop off in the parking lot, and a oyster cage workshop on the dock. So Auni was there but pulled all over. She would come and give me a little intro and then I was just in it. A full explanation of the museum and the history and the project. I ran through the tools and supplies. I was a little all over the place because I was so excited. But it was great.
I had gone and grabbed a lamp from the cannery when the first couple participants got there. They had said it was going to be hard to see their needle and with the lamp it wasn't so stupid in there. And that made everyone's lives easier. And when I was showing the first steps. Laying the pattern, Cutting the fabric, sewing a while stitch. Making sure your fabric was facing the right way. And then I had them get started. They jumped right in. And they did great.
I was surprised that a few people didn't want to use the sewing machine. That it totally fine. I did insist on Stanley's granddaughter trying again when she said she couldn't when I was actively watching her do it. I think she was just afraid of the machine. I wasn't going to force anyone though so I asked if she just wanted to hand sew and then I left her to it. She did great in the end.
The two little girls in the class has their own sewing machines so they didn't need much instruction. And it was fun just jumping around and checking on everyone.
When I would start someone on the sewing machine I think everyone though I was silly because I always take my boot off. I see better barefoot. Because I can feel the peddle better. And in the end we didn't break any needles at all.
The program lasted two hours. And I really just had lovely conversations with everyone. It was a beautiful day.
People would slowly leave as they finished their bears. I got pictures of almost all of them. And then it was time to clean up. The little girls had helped collect all my fabric. And I tried to find all my needles. I was in a great mood.
When I went up to the front to bring my machine and bags I saw that it was snowing!! It wasnt sticking but it was beautiful. I know it's going to be March but I wish it would snow. Not having snow this season made me sad.
But this was beautiful. And after I was done putting away the chairs and tables I stood at the window wall and watched it for a while.
Then all of a sudden the fire alarm went off. And there was a lot of people inr the museum today and they all started trying to evacuate!! It was scary cause James made an announcement but we couldn't understand them. But I went to the front and they weren't there. Which is when I realized it wasn't our building it was happening next door. Everything was fine. We got everyone back inside. James came back. It was a false alarm and everything was safe. Startling though!!
I finished getting my stuff together and took it to the car. And then went up to the education office to sit with James for a few minutes. They were exhausted. I gave them many hugs and then I headed home.
It was still flurrying on my drive. And it was so pretty. I love the snow.
I got back here and I was happy to be home. I was a little tired. Eating lunch helped. I also did some cleaning. I vacuumed and did a partial water change on the aquariums. I put some stuff away. I made some outfits. And then I would chill on the couch and decided to jump back into my sticker idea.
I changed into warmer clothes and then I was able to really focus. I want to design stickers sheets. So I started drawing bears and accessories. And it was a fun way to spend the afternoon.
James got home and they were kind of a mess. Coughing and red in the face and sneezing. They were really exhausted and didn't feel great.
They would sit on the couch with me and we brain stormed and came up with a great idea about making the stickers clear so you can design them yourself. And they are going to research that for me. Cost and stuff.
But because they still didn't feel good I encouraged them to take a shower and put on something cozy. And once they did they didn't look so rough.
James would make some bread. Somehow it got off kilter and knocked a whole bunch of stuff off the counter and scared us all. But it was okay. James made us breakfast for dinner and we ate it in bed. And I felt really happy.
I was going to wash my hair tonight but I decided I will do that tomorrow morning. But I still took a shower and now we are in bed. I am feeling good. But man am I tired.
I hope you all had a good day. I have no plans for tomorrow and that feels nice. Sleep well everyone. Take care of each other!!

The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center is the leading destination for Black arts, culture, research, and education in Chicago. I am so glad I took the time to travel across the city during my visit to experience this gem thronged with Black greatness.
The DuSable is the nation's oldest independent African American Museum, and holds over 15,000 pieces dedicated to Black culture and education. I have been wanting to visit this musuem for quite some time, and it was one of many stops I had to make during my visit to Chicago.
For over 60 years, the mission of the museum has been to empower people with knowledge provided in the form of visual art, lectures, live performances, and workshops. Located on the city's south side, the museum is one of many noteworthy places on Chicago's south side.
I took my time appreciating this cultural treasure. I wondered if I would have been a key contributor to civil rights and community empowerment and education like the Black Panthers. Or would I have been a pioneer of Black storytelling like John Johnson, founder of the Johnson Publishing Company? Or would I have had the courage of Kathryn Magnolia Johnson who served as an educator, activist, and secretary with the YMCA during World War I? I didn't have to wonder for long before I realized that I too, am a vessel for truth.
Racial violence is a tried and true part of the history of the world. Throughout Europe and the Americas, racial violence towards people of African descent was and still is prevalent to this day. Those who refused to be led to their death, rather choosing to lead various revolutions of sorts, were persecuted. When I read about these people, I'm inspired to make the most of the opportunities I've been given. I'm inspired to continue being the change I want to see in the world.

#finishedbooks Ozu Art by various. Picked this up from the Chigasaki Musuem of Art that was having an Ozu exhibition. Mathematically fitting this year is the 120th anniversary of his birth and 60th of his death. There have been a number of exhibitions, retrospectives, and collaborations in his honor, which of anything is a push to get people to see his films or at least be aware. Which I got to say has gotten better since I got into his films around 2007. The good of this is the exhibitions are getting better as they slowly piece at times almost anything they can find to continue to add to his shows. I recall in 2013 they had two: one at the film institute in Ginza and the other in at the literary museum in Kamakura that me and @nuno went to. Both were amazing for an Ozu fan but incomplete for anyone just looking to learn something more complete from an exhibition they attend. This was by far the biggest I have attended, I went to one last year at the Kamakura film museum that was more or less a repeat from the film institute in Ginza a decade prior. But to the book! This was the first exhibition to actually have an accompanying Ozu book that naturally sold out. I was able to special order and was a bit disappointed there was no English. The beauty of these books are the bilingual options on Asian artists that are relatively obscure in the west and thus represent some of the only chance to have in print some of these artists. The book rightfully focuses on the aesthetics of Ozu which is one of the things about an Ozu film in that he has created a unique universe rich of iconography that one can point to and say Ozu-esque. Steeped in Japanese aesthetic concepts of mu, jimi/hade, etc you can see a red teapot, a bottle beer in the foreground of an image, a colorful array of nihon shu cup, a couple with their backs diagonally turned to us on looking an ocean or a river, etc and immediately conjure multiple Ozu scenes. And this really is just one layer of what makes his films the greatest because then there is the camera angles, the lack of conventional eye lines, the scene structuring (pillow shots), the space and nuisance, the story (not plot big difference), the subtle social commentary, and general acceptance at life's disappointments that all never ends in any real meaningful way... that like life can only be inferred.
