The cold autumn air has his teeth chattering as night falls.
David grabs the black jacket from the back seat. After sliding it on, his hand fishes into his pocket for his black winter hat. He holds in his hand, analyzing the accessory remembering how he had picked up that habit.
You would always leave it tucked into the pocket before leaving for work because he can be forgetful when it comes to taking care of himself.
Staring at the endless sea of cedar that stem from the banks of echoing, rushing river, he thinks back to every little you used to do for him and he wonders how much of it he took for granted. He closes his heavy eyes as he reminisces.
The rush of the waters resounding through the cold air lull him, persuading him to give in. His body aches with exhaustion as it settles in his bones. The unmarked car he's nestled in warms gradually with every steady breath.
He doesn't notice he's nodded off until he jolts awake to the sound of birds cawing in the sky, pestered by what he assumes to be some commotion.
His heavy head lifts as he searches the terrain around. His sight takes a moment to adjust the jet black outside. Although it's hard to see, it doesn't seem like there's anything out of place.
Just as the small surge of adrenaline settles, his cell phone buzzes and lights up penetrating the darkness as he squints incoming texts. They're from O'Malley reaffirming everyone's in position for the ambush. The second confirms the arrival of the suspects.
A black SUV soon rolls up behind him with it's headlights piercing through the black.
David sits up in the driver's as epinephrine reignites in his system, tensing his muscles and urging his hand to instinctively wander down to the grip of his firearm.
Not knowing what to expect, he takes the gun from its holster and tucks into the waistband of his pants behind his back. Donovan may have made a small fortune with his crimes, but he didn't associate with the brightest. However, he's not willing to take the chance of stepping out of his car without protection. Especially if it could save your life.
The vehicle stops just 30 or more yards away from his rear end, so David steps out of his vehicle cautiously, scanning the abandoned site for any possible unexpected passersby as he holds his keys in hand.
The lights shine blindingly in his eyes. He doesn't look away; he tries to keep intimidatingly calm as he stares back at whoever the drivers is.
He hears the car doors open. Black shadows move behind the lights, but he still can’t quite make them out. He listens for the doors, counting three opening and closing, or so he thinks. He just can't tell. All he knows is they're not alone and he's almost certain the driver didn't get out.
Gravel crunches under heavy footsteps as dark figures move towards the front of the car. Standing before the light, it becomes gradually easier to make out the shapes. There's particular one that seems familiar.
His stomach drops. His breathing quickens. The hairs on the back of his neck stand on end as he struggles to stay cool. Although brief and very brief at that, relief fills his chest.
Your eyes widen as the smelly black bag is torn off your head. Taking a moment to adjust to, your vision narrows in on him.
Taking mindless, instinctive steps, you try to run to him with wide frightened eyes until one of the large man behind you pulls you back roughly with a bruising grip on your arm.
There’s not much you can do to fight him. You bite down on the cloth gag that’s tied around your head, mentally repeating the masked man's words to yourself.
Don't do anything stupid. Stay calm. Do as we say and everything will be over.
David raises his hands as if surrendering himself when he notices the gun pressing into the side of your head. Your heart pounds as if it were trying to break free from your ribcages.
“I am unarmed” he states loudly, breaking the thick silence. “The money in the trunk. I’m gonna open it slowly and you can come get it.”
The lack of reply is his signal to go on.
He slowly takes his steps toward the back of his car. Keeping one hand high and his broad frame forward, he unlocks the trunk and leaves the key in the keyhole as the trunk door springs up.
One of the masked men order him to step away from the car and keep his hands before walking over the distance towards him. David’s eyes blink nervously as they watch you. Every step seems to take a lifetime. He just wants this to be over.
Once the man reaches the vehicle, he opens the bags to inspect their contents. The longer he rummages through them looking for what David believes to be a tracker, the more he blinks nervously.
Your knees buckle from the anxiety. Your fiancée is just so close and still so far. The gun to your hand is the only that grounds you and keeps you from running into his arms.
You sigh almost relieved when you see the man lifting the bags from the trunk, seemingly satisfied with the money. Walking back to his lackeys, he orders his guard dog to ‘let the bitch go’.
Your head spins as his words sink in. A blade glides between your wrists as the silver duct tape around them is cut. The gun lowers from your head, so you rush to cross the distance as you race to David.
You almost can’t believe you finally get to go home, to finally be with the man you love more than anything. Tears stream down your stained cheeks.
You’re too stunned to even pull the tape off or the gag off; like you’re walking in a dream. None of this feels real. It’s almost too good to be true.
Halfway to your fiancée, you hear a familiar sound that freezes your heart. Your gut sinks low as if the world’s been pulled out from underneath you. Red and blue lights glow in the distance and you realize David didn’t come alone.

DCA PROMPTOBER 2024
I'm finally not sick anymore! Yeppee! Enjoy some fluff now (btw this Moon can be interpreted as an android or as a human, idk you choose, I just wanted to write something with the human design I made for him)
Day 12 - Carousel
Pairing: Human/Android!Moon x GN reader Warning: None Words: 2700+ Summary: Moon asked you out on a date (u lucky bastard)
The night breeze was cold as ice, it froze the blood in your veins and made you violently shiver in your winter coat, but despite the polar temperature your heart had never felt warmer. Moon had asked you to go on a date with him and for the last 3 hours you had been roaming around aimlessly in your house, trembling with excitement, struggling to find the right outfit, the right accessories, the right words to speak and thank him. You had gotten ready very early and ended up having to wait for the hour to pass with nothing to do, staring at your TV without actually looking at any of the movies that were being broadcasted in occasion for the winter holidays, so at some point you decided to simply get out and wait for your date outside your house. Bad mistake, considering the temperature outside, but at least you were going to see him as soon as his car pulled up into your driveway.
The night had long befallen the small town, everyone was cuddled cozily in their homes and no sound could be heard in the streets except for the rumblings of the few cars that still wandered deep into the evening. Hurricane had never been famous for its events, there was just one mall and a kids playground, so you weren’t sure where Moon was going to take you. He was a bizarre guy, so you couldn’t really rule out any possibility. He had told you about some of the excursions he had come with his brother and they did the weirdest things, from going climbing with goats on a random Tuesday to visiting a museum on the history of Monopoly the day after.
You looked at your watch; it was around midnight, so Moon was about to come in… half an hour. Shit, the guy also gave you the weirdest hours to meet up. He was a night owl, so you’d wake up in the morning to go to work with fresh memes he had sent to you during the night.
With your big surprise a car suddenly stopped right in front of your driveway, loudly breaking like the driver had almost missed the house, and an absolutely adorable Moon came out in a hurry. Seeing you, his eyes widened in surprise.
-Shit, I’m… Hi! W-Why are you already outside?!- he asked, breathing heavily. He was dressed in dark cargo jeans, a button up covered in stars of many shapes and sizes and a long winter coat. With it he was wearing a black belt to accentuate his nice waist, his usual beanie and a dark blue scarf. You noticed he was hiding something behind his back.
-Hi, I… I was getting bored waiting inside,- you smiled, walking closer to him, -Hope you don’t mind.-
-N-No! No, absolutely not, it’s just that you must be freezing!- one of his hands came to grab one of yours, attempting to warm your cold fingers, while the other stayed behind his back. What was he hiding you didn’t know, but you suddenly wanted to thank the weather because Moon had never looked so beautiful. His nose was red, just like his cheeks, and his eyes looked bright in the night. You observed the few freckles that dusted his nose—Moon’s skin was dark, but almost half of his face was as white as milk due to the vitiligo, so you could make out some of the dots that you always dreamed of kissing on his beautiful face.
-You look amazing,- he whispered, pulling you close to his body, and you would have complimented him back if he hadn’t interrupted you, -I came early because I wanted to surprise you.-
-Really?- you giggled, throwing your arms behind his neck and brushing your nose against his.
-Yes. my plan was to sneak to your door, ring your doorbell,- his breath was hot on your lips, ghosting over your skin, temping as ever, -Then sneak away before you could open.-
-Why?- you asked, confused but intrigued.
-So I could get in through a window or something while you were distracted,- he replied, -You know, like people do in movies.-
-You mean like serial killers do?- you laughed, parting enough from his hug so you could look as his smile, -Like fucking Ghostface or something? Am I going out with a psycho?-
-Oh, no, Comet! I’m actually a very romantic person,- he said, revealing what he was hiding behind his back; a bouquet of blue, purple and white moonflowers.
-Y-You’re not serious!- you gasped, looking at the flowers presented in front of you, -You didn’t…!-
-I did,- he said with a sly smile, looking proud of himself, -Now, what’s your favorite scary movie?-
Moon tried to kiss you but you swiftly pulled away, laughing, running away from him and to his car. He tried to follow, but almost slipped on the frozen grass of your yard.
-Careful!- you laughed, getting into the passenger seat of his car, -The flowers will have to wait before I put them in a vase, I want to know what you have set up for me.-
-Oh, I promise you will like it,- he said, finally regaining his balance enough to wobble to the car and slip in, -It’s a beautiful place, I discovered it last week.-
-Are you gonna tell me anything else?- you asked, leaning closer to tease him, but this time he was the one to push you away.
-Nope, stay put and behave now, you animal.-
☆
The gates of the abandoned amusement park were rusty, bent and old, looking like relics of an old and forgotten time, when joy and laughs were the norm in that damned city. Now very few people lived in Hurricane, but you and Moon still managed to cut out a piece for you to live in and have fun, away from the problems of daily life. You have had a crush on him for months, never gaining enough courage to turn your friendly teasing and flirting into a reality, but one day he had surprised you first, asking you to go on a date with him. If you hadn’t known him for almost a year already, you would have never accepted meeting someone at midnight and following them into an unspecified second location, but Moon… was Moon, and he and his brother were the most amazing people you had ever met.
You stared up at the gates, which were already open and inviting you to come in, feeling both amazed and a little scared. You turned to look at Moon.
-Are you serious?- you asked, still holding on your bouquet like an anchor, -What if there’s someone else inside?!-
There could be all kinds of dangerous people hiding in there, the whole park had fallen into ruin more than a decade before and even the cops didn’t come to check anymore, it was completely abandoned. People weren’t even the biggest problem! You looked through the bars of the gate, at the old mirror maze, at the haunted house and ferris wheel, thinking about all the things that could break, fall, and injure…
-Hey,- Moon hugged you from behind, bringing you away from your thoughts, -There’s nothing you have to worry about, this place has been forgotten by almost anyone, not even junkies come here. Also, we don’t care about any of those stupid places right now, because our aim is…-
One of his hands held one of yours and brought it up in front of your eyes, proceeding to use your finger to point to a place far on your right. Detached from all the rest, almost alone in all of its glory, stood the most beautiful vintage carousel you had ever seen in your life.
-Right there,- said Moon, -That’s where we’ll go.-
You gasped, beginning to walk towards it, but the man behind you stopped you before you could take another step. He tugged you by the sleeve of your jacket, pulling you back into his warm and welcoming arms.
-Don’t you forget something?- he said, pointing at his lips, -Like showing your gratitude to a certain someone?-
Smirking, you got on your tiptoes so your lips could brush against his, chapped in the cold night air. You were still trembling, but not for the cold.
-I’ll consider if I should thank you after the end of this date,- you whispered, -Promise.-
Letting you go, Moon threw his head back and laughed loudly. Between you and him things had always been in that way, and honestly, you wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. The constant banter kept your heart ablaze 24/7, making you burn even hotter for him every day.
Hurrying down the paved street of the abandoned park, you slid past old ticket booths, food stalls and random attractions, ignoring everything and focusing on the carousel only. Your eyes didn’t leave it for one second, and the closer you got the more you fell in love with it. The carousel was much bigger than you had first imagined; silver and blue, covered in tinted glass and beautiful vintage decoration, with pictures of animals, children and jesters running and dancing around with joy. The colors had long faded, the blue had taken a more cerulean tint and many of the glasses were shattered or rusted, but it all added to his magnificent aura. The carousel had two floors; a lower one, with white and black horses towing large and luxurious chariots, and a higher one which you could get access by a flight of stairs. Up you saw cats, fishes and bunnies of the same size as the horses.
-Moon, this…- you gawked at the spectacle before you, mesmerized, -This is beautiful!-
-I had a very similar reaction the first time I had seen it,- Moon smiled, looking down at you, -It truly is the most beautiful thing in existence, yeah?-
His eyes were soft, gentle, full of love. With their heat you feared they were going to melt your heart and turn it into a puddle of indistinguishable mass at the bottom of your stomach, so you turned your head away. In response, one of Moon’s hands sneaked up to your head and ruffled your hair, ruining the lovely moment, because of course he had to do something like that.
-Go and choose a horse, okay? The most beautiful one,- he nodded towards the carousel, -I’ll join you in just a second.-
For a second you wondered what he was planning to do, but excitement quickly distracted you from your previous thoughts and brought you back to the sight before your eyes. Giggling, you did as Moon had asked, jumping on the carousel and looking at each of the animals, admiring their faded mane and missing ears. With their peeled eyes the horses looked rather creepy, they made you feel like they were staring directly at you, but for some reason you didn’t feel scared. It could be that Moon was close to you, so you had nothing to fear about, but their bared teeth looked more like smiles under the moonlit sky rather than grins.
You found a big horse with a beautiful dappled cloak, black and white, and when you looked into its eyes you saw that his muzzle had survived the challenges of the winds and rain, proudly showing smart and shining eyes which held a kind and joyful expression. You decided that this mightful steed was going to be your ride for the night, so you hopped on, making sure that your jacket covered your freezing ass before checking your bouquet of flowers. Everything seemed still in order, so you patiently waited for Moon, who was nowhere in sight.
Turning around, you looked behind you and even up at the second floor of the carousel, but the dark-skinned man was nowhere to be seen. Worried, you began to call his name, but no answer followed. Right as your heart was beginning to grow filled with fear and you decided to jump down the fake horse to go look for him, the lights of the carousel flickered to life around you and a distorted music began to play from the speakers. Startled, your head snapped from one side to the other, trying to make out what was happening, but then the ride began to move under you and you screamed. Your feet lost footing as the horse went up, into the air, before slowly beginning a gradual descent towards the ground. The entire ride was moving, humming a gentle and festive motif in a voice which hadn’t been used in many years, and while some of the light bulbs decorating the carousel had stopped working, most were in good enough conditions to blind you, searing a shadow into your retina.
-Do you like it?- screamed Moon, who was looking at you from the ground, pleased.
-You bastard!- you yelled back, -Come here right now!-
What the fuck had he done?! The man jumped onto the moving carousel and began to move through the animated animals, dodging hooves and tails, slowly making his way to you with a wide grin on his face.
-Did you do this?- you asked as soon as he was close enough so you didn’t have to scream over the music. Moon nodded, and you swore you would have slapped and kissed him at the same time, hadn’t you been holding on the plastic ears of your horse. -How?! How did you…?-
You couldn’t form coherent sentences anymore, that man had just killed your brain and turned it into soup, nothing you could say would have conveyed every emotion you felt in that moment.
-I found a way yo restart it just yesterday,- explained Moon, hanging from the pole attached to your horse’s back for support, -The moment I learned it could still sing, I thought it was finally worthy enough for you to see.-
A smile opened on your lips and you had to fight back some tears, but you still managed to speak.
-I would have loved it anyway.-
-I know, but I want only the best for my Comet.- Moon’s hand rested on your cheek, pulling your face closer to his, -I would bring this entire park back to life if you just told me to do so.-
The night was cold, the horse you were sitting on was cold, but your face and hands were feverish. Even Moon’s skin, which was usually freezing for your standards, felt hot under your fingertips when you brought him closer as well. You kissed his lips, lulled by the gentle movements of the carousel, and enjoyed the music surrounding you like a blanket. Moon’s lips felt right on yours, tasted right, like they belonged on yours, so when you had to pull away to breath you felt the immediate urge to kiss him once more.
-Do I have to make a miracle of engineering every time I want a kiss from you?- Moon asked, breathing heavily after the long kiss, ruining the perfect moment with another one of his dumb jokes, -Because, I mean, it’s not as easy as I made it out to be! It took me a lot, you know?-
-Oh, shut the fuck up, please!- you laughed, grabbing his scarf and pretending to tighten it around his throat.
-Make me,- he teased, grabbing the back of your head and pulling you in another kiss.
The carousel must have finished its ride, because the horse both of you had been holding on slowly began to stop moving and the platform under your feet came to a stop, but the lights and the music only dimmed.
The entire park was quiet, lonely, but your little carousel was as good as new. On it, you and Moon hummed its music and danced to the rhythm, holding one in the arms of the other, with your head resting on his chest and his hands around your waist. You danced on the still carousel, forgetting the world outside, only conscious of the present you were holding in your hands, living in the moment like the night could never turn to day.
When you were with Moon, at least, the nights would always be endless, like a never ending dream, like his sole presence could make you fall into a coma and bring you into a land of love and beauty. Moon was your personal Morpheus, your Sandman, and you loved him more than anything in this wretched earth.

G & CSP (4) - How to become a villain
Summary: After Steve messed up (aka talked to some other woman) he tries to make amends and get to know you better.
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Villain!Reader
Warnings: implied smut, a little teasing/making out, idiots in love
Written for: Winter Break Advent: Day 7 - Close proximity
Catch up here: Blurb (3) - The first fight
Goddess & Captain Sassypants masterlist
“Don't you just want to let go and have the bad girl, a villain for once?" You purr and run your fingers through his hair to mess it up a little.
Your lips brush over Steve’s. You breathe against him but don’t touch his lips. If he wants a kiss, he must beg you for it.
He’s the one giving in first. Steve cups your face and presses his lips to yours. He devours your mouth, making you gasp against his soft lips.
Steve smiles at the memory. You opened up to him even more. And now, you crossed a line. Your flirty banter and all the teasing ended in a night of passion. (According to you.) Steve would call it making love.
“So,” Steve clears his throat. He’s still not back in your good graces. (at least not completely.) You took it to heart that he ruined your fifth date fight in the park.
The bench you sat on that day didn’t make it out alive. The same goes for the woman’s car, her apartment, and almost her dog too.
The last one was an accident!
You tried to rip her handbag off her shoulder only to watch her dog fly off the roof. Of course, you saved the poor dog just in time.
She didn’t get it back, though. Let’s say Carl got the dog he always wanted, and the woman is missing an accessory she loved to carry around in a handbag.
“Goddess, are you still mad at me?” Steve repeats the same line he said a hundred times already. “Please forgive me for messing our date up.”
You glare at him. “That wasn’t a date, Captain Sassypants!”
“Our epic battle then,” he grins when you melt against his warm chest. “So, do you want me to make things up again?”
You quirk a brow and lift the silky sheet covering his lower half. “You really are a super-soldier, huh? I didn’t think it comes with a mechanic dick.”
Steve chuckles at your comment. “It’s not mechanic, doll.”
“I don’t know,” you move your hand to his crotch to feel him up. “Litte Captain Sassypants is hard as steel!”
He grabs your hand to place it on his chest. Steve wants to talk about a few things with you.
“You never told me why you became a villain,” he softly says while you are busy running your right hand over his naked chest. “Every infamous villain has a backstory. Don’t they?”
Crap. You’re not prepared to give him a good lie. The truth is, you had a huge crush on Steve and started to commit smaller crimes to get his attention. One thing led to another, and you ended up with a whole bunch of crazy minions, a huge mansion, and a name everyone fears.
"A villain is in control. I had enough of feeling helpless. All my life people walked all over me. I got treated badly because of my powers. I belonged nowhere. Not even Shield wanted me. So, I became a villain and embraced my powers and being different from others,” you say.
It’s not a complete lie. Your life sucked, and you got used to being an outcast. Everyone overlooked you until you decided to impress a certain hero with your powers and the crimes you committed.
“I see,” Steve wraps one arm around your body to hold you close to his warm chest. “Every villain has a backstory then.”
“What about you?” You lift your head from his chest. “Aren't you tired of being the golden boy and perfect minion to Shield, the Avengers, and everyone else out there?" You rake your nails over his chest, causing Steve to shudder. “Don’t you want to break out and run away sometimes?”
“With you?” He smirks and looks at you in his arms. “Imagine, the mightiest villain and Captain America run off for their honeymoon.”
“Whoa, slow down!” You grunt. “I conquered your body to weaken your resistance and make sure my minions can wreak havoc while you are busy with other things I never agreed to marry you.”
“You will,” he shrugs. “I know you want to be a good person. You only need someone to help you see you’re not evil.”
“I enchanted you,” you hum to yourself. “I’m even mightier than I thought. I made Captain America lose his mind!”
“That you did.” Steve agrees to not lose the chance to hold you in his arms a little longer.
You’re a good person, he just knows it. Every time you take care of one of your minions or save someone standing in the line of fire he sees your true self.
Sadly, no one before Steve saw the light in you. They tried to extinguish it or turn it into a raging fire.
“Good thing I live in close proximity to the Avengers Tower. This way, I can keep an eye on you, Captain.”
“You’re still mad at me,” he sighs deeply. “Doll, I told you this woman meant nothing to me. She didn’t stand a chance against you.”
“Damn right,” you click your tongue. “I gave it to that bitch good. She will never try to get her greedy hands on someone else’s man-” You cough and try to play your slip-of-tongue cool. “I meant enemy.”
Steve poorly tries to hide the smirk creeping across his face. He nuzzles your hair and sighs again. “What did you do to her?”
“Nothing.”
“Goddess.”
“I kinda stole her poor dog. Little fart is much happier with Carl.”
“Little fart?”
“I didn’t name the dog,” you grumble. “Carl did.”
“You know stealing is illegal. Right?” Steve tuts, letting the hero and goody-in-two shoes show.
You chuckle darkly. “Oh, I did more than steal her dog. Do you want to arrest me now, Captain?” While you straddle his lap and place your hands on his chest, Steve watches you with adoration in his eyes. “Hey, stop looking like a love-sick puppy. We are not here to make love! You are my prisoner for the time being.”
“Oh, please don’t chain me up in the cold cell again,” he plays along. Steve knows you don’t like to give up control or admit feelings. Weakness is not an option. You had a hard life and won’t be weak ever again.
Well, maybe you allow yourself once in a while to be weak when you are in his arms. “If you are a good prisoner, you can stay here.”
“Phew, good.” Steve watches you lie back down on top of him. “I feared Tony must come to my rescue. You know him. He’ll call you my girlfriend again.”
“I dare him!” You exclaim loudly. “I’m your master and made you my willing slave. Nothing else.”
“I know, doll,” Steve runs his hand over your back. “I’ll tell him so. Promised.”
“Good. We don’t want your little friends to come over and believe they’ll get my cookies or shit. I won’t share my technology or minions with them.”
“Goddess, I need you to tell me what you did with that woman.” Steve already knows you wrecked her car and apartment.
“She had it coming,” you lift your head from his chest to grin at Steve. “I think she learned her lesson. No one touches my archenemy.”

the reposing force of the great lakes;
---by kael knoxton martin, a (real) wip intro.
genre - science fiction, superhero fiction.
age range - adult.
status - working on first draft.
content warnings - child abuse, drug use (marijuana), discussions of homophobia and transphobia, unhealthy relationships, gore, suicidal ideation.
summary.
In the fictional city of Knife's Edge, Michigan, home to the headquarters of the Reposing Force of the Great Lakes, a superhero collective is tasked with protecting the Great Lakes region from any supernatural threats or metahumans misusing their powers. The Reposing Force is massive, and its heroes are treated like celebrities, as if they're above reproach. The Great Lakes Reposing Force is largely corrupt, preferring publicity and self-gain over the actual goal of helping citizens that the Force was founded with.
Metahuman Ivy White is on her way to a recruitment appointment, with the goal of becoming a member of the Reposing Force. She lives in her car, struggles with mental health issues, and generally views membership to the Force as a last resort attempt to improve her life. Ivy meets Kingsley Henneth and Rowan James during the interview; both of them have powers almost as unique as her own, and all three of them get embarrassingly rejected for having "useless and embarrassing powers". Kingsley and Rowan invite Ivy to stay with them after her car breaks down. At roughly the same time, the leader of the Reposing Force, Graham Case, is making a deal with the queen of the demonic dimension Xulthea to trap his best friend, Soren's wife in the main city for eternity so she is unable to expose proof of a gay adulterous affair to the public.
After finding out what Graham had done, Soren, secretly an extremely powerful metahuman himself, believes his wife to be suffering in Xulthea, so he kidnaps the entire Reposing Force and tricks the queen of Xulthea into giving him free passage between Earth and the parts of Xulthea that are so unpredictably nightmarish that no one lives there. Trapping the Force in what is essentially endless psychological torture, in a realm that naturally must use their deepest fears against them, Soren tells Graham that he and his friends will remain there until his wife is freed. Meanwhile, his wife, Jessica, is unexpectedly bonding with the queen of Xulthea, perfectly safe, watching her husband destroy the city they both once loved.
Also, it turns out Soren missed one member of the Reposing Force. Kira Ramos, the Force's second-in-command who was out of the country visiting family at the time of the kidnapping, returns to Knife's Edge a day later, and must pick up the pieces and retrieve her friends before any supervillain senses an opportunity and decides to wreak havoc in the city. She recruits Ivy and Ivy's new friends to save the Reposing Force, promising high ranking membership and immense fame if they can complete the task.

excerpt.
The picture fizzles out, fading slow back into a void-black screen, and she’s gone. The secondhand store employee’s words echo through her mind: fucking Reposing Force, I swear to God… But the gates open, swift and fast like a predator. Ivy looks up into the skies, watches the building as it goes up and up and up, boundless above her. She takes a deep, deep breath, and begins walking again. She’s always walking, always transporting herself between what is real and what is fantasy and what is dreaded. When she isn’t walking literally, her body exhausted from its nomadic nature, she’s walking metaphorically, through the graveyard of her past, her former self an angelic statue fixed above a headstone. Ivy is adept at pushing through obstacles of any kind. She moves forward whether the universe likes it or not. She enters the building, and her boots make a thudding sound on the teal tile beneath her. There’s a mural behind the front desk—scenery of Lake Michigan that is too vibrant, too dreamlike, to be real or accurate. The state of Michigan is never that serene. But regardless, she approaches the desk. It’s a different secretary; how many fucking employees does this place have? She asks for Ivy’s name with a monotone voice, thanks her for it in a monotone voice. Ivy cannot help it. Her mind wanders to situations, to possibilities unknown. Are these employees super=powered too, are they considered lower than the heroic division? If she gets this job, will she be doing boring secretary work for the rest of her life? If she manages to get this job, will she get the opportunity to disrespect others, just as they have done to her? Would she ever get the opportunity to do true good, or will they stick her at a desk for eternity? She wouldn’t be able to handle that.

Understanding Your Audience: Crafting Articles for the Auto and Vehicle Market
When you write for autos and vehicles, it’s essential to understand the unique audience you’re targeting. Automotive enthusiasts, car buyers, and even casual readers interested in vehicles have distinct needs and interests. The ability to cater to these different segments is key to creating compelling and effective content. This article will delve into the nuances of crafting articles for the auto and vehicle market, helping you engage with your audience more effectively and drive better results from your writing efforts.
The Importance of Audience Understanding
Before you put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard), it’s crucial to understand who you're writing for. The automotive industry is vast, with a wide range of sub-niches—each catering to a different audience. When you write for autos and vehicles, you need to recognize whether you're writing for car buyers, car enthusiasts, auto industry professionals, or just everyday drivers looking for advice. Each of these groups has different expectations, levels of knowledge, and engagement with automotive topics.
For example, car buyers are likely to seek informative content about the latest vehicle models, fuel efficiency, pricing, and customer reviews. On the other hand, automotive enthusiasts are more likely to be interested in performance enhancements, car culture, and the technical specifications of vehicles. When you craft content, it's essential to tailor it to the specific interests and language of these groups. Understanding the depth of knowledge your audience has will help you decide how technical or general your language should be.
Crafting Content That Speaks to Your Audience
Know the Type of Content to Create
When you write for autos and vehicles, you must first decide what type of content will resonate with your target audience. Do they prefer in-depth reviews, how-to guides, or quick tips? Here are a few common content types for the automotive market:
Vehicle Reviews: These are usually detailed assessments of specific cars, trucks, motorcycles, or other vehicles. They often include pros and cons, performance assessments, and comparisons with other models.
How-To Guides: Content that helps readers solve common automotive problems or guides them through vehicle maintenance is very popular. Think of things like "How to change a tire," "Tips for improving fuel efficiency," or "How to choose the best winter tires."
Industry News: Auto enthusiasts and industry professionals alike are keen on the latest car innovations, industry trends, and emerging technologies. Writing about electric vehicles, autonomous driving, and cutting-edge automotive technology can capture their attention.
Product Comparisons: Articles comparing similar vehicles, car accessories, or aftermarket parts help readers make informed buying decisions. If you write product comparison articles, always aim for detailed information backed by data.
Use the Right Tone and Language
The tone of your article should align with your target audience's expectations. For example, if you're writing for an audience that’s well-versed in the automotive world, you can afford to use technical terms and a more sophisticated writing style. However, if your audience is mostly first-time buyers or casual drivers, it’s important to keep the language simple, clear, and easy to digest.
Another factor to consider is the language and terminology used in the auto industry. If you're targeting enthusiasts, you might want to include specific jargon like "horsepower," "torque," "suspension," or "handling." But if you’re writing for a more general audience, it’s better to explain these terms or avoid them altogether.
Provide Value Through Data and Research
One of the most important aspects of writing for the automotive industry is backing up your claims with data and research. Whether you're writing about fuel economy, vehicle safety ratings, or the latest technology, providing accurate, up-to-date information will add credibility to your content. When you write for autos and vehicles, facts, figures, and expert opinions can elevate your articles from simple opinions to authoritative sources of information.
For instance, when discussing the best cars for families, don’t just list models—back up your choices with safety ratings, interior space measurements, fuel efficiency stats, and expert reviews. Additionally, include relevant links to studies, vehicle manuals, or government safety ratings. This not only enhances your credibility but also offers your readers value they can’t easily get elsewhere.
Incorporate Visuals and Multimedia
In today’s digital world, your readers want more than just text. When you write for autos and vehicles, incorporating visuals like images, infographics, and videos can make your content more engaging. Car buyers, in particular, love to see high-quality images of vehicles, both exterior and interior. This helps them visualize the car they’re considering purchasing.
You can also include videos to demonstrate features or provide walk-throughs of complex concepts like car maintenance. Car enthusiasts might appreciate videos or photos of performance cars in action, while general readers might enjoy a video comparing different vehicle models.
Connecting with Your Audience on a Personal Level
Another effective strategy to engage with your audience is to connect with them emotionally. The automotive world is filled with passion—whether it’s the excitement of owning a new car, the nostalgia of a vintage model, or the thrill of modifying a vehicle for performance. Tap into these emotions by telling stories that resonate with your readers.
For example, if you're writing about classic cars, you could include a personal story about a memorable road trip in a vintage vehicle. If your audience is primarily focused on fuel-efficient cars, tell the story of a family that saved money by choosing the right hybrid or electric vehicle. These personal narratives make your content feel more authentic and relatable.
Conclusion: Crafting Articles That Truly Engage
In conclusion, to effectively write for autos and vehicles, you must take the time to understand your audience’s needs, interests, and level of knowledge. By choosing the right type of content, using the appropriate tone, providing valuable data, and incorporating engaging visuals, you can create articles that resonate with car enthusiasts, buyers, and casual readers alike. Writing for the automotive market isn’t just about detailing the specs of the latest vehicle—it’s about connecting with your audience, offering them value, and making your content memorable.
Remember, the key to success in automotive content writing is to keep your audience at the forefront of your strategy. Once you fully understand who you’re writing for, you’ll be able to craft articles that are informative, engaging, and ultimately drive results for both you and your readers. So, whether you're crafting a detailed review, a helpful guide, or a feature on the latest automotive technology, make sure your content is tailored to meet the needs and interests of the people you're writing for.

Choosing the Right Car Seat Cover for Your Vehicle
Selecting the right seat cover can make a significant difference in your driving experience. Here are some tips to help you choose the ideal cover for your vehicle:
Consider Your Lifestyle Needs
Think about how you use your car daily. If you often drive with pets or engage in outdoor activities, neoprene or canvas seat covers may be a practical choice. For city drivers or those who enjoy a touch of luxury, leather or sheepskin options could be ideal.
Factor in Climate and Weather
Your local climate can also influence the best choice of material. Neoprene and canvas covers are better for humid or rainy regions, while sheepskin works well in cooler climates. In hotter areas, consider breathable fabrics that won’t absorb heat.
Match Your Car’s Interior
Choose seat covers that complement your car’s interior design. Leather covers provide a classic look, while canvas offers a rugged appeal. If you prefer something unique, patterned or custom-designed covers can add personality to your vehicle.
Check for Compatibility
Ensure that the seat covers you choose are compatible with your car’s make and model. Some covers come in universal fits, but custom-fit options are available for specific models to ensure a seamless look.
Installing Australian Car Seat Covers
Most car seat covers are easy to install, but here’s a simple guide to help ensure a secure fit:
Clean Your Seats: Start with clean seats to prevent dirt or debris from getting trapped under the covers.
Remove Headrests: For better access, remove headrests if your cover requires it.
Secure the Cover: Slip the cover over the seat, ensuring it fits snugly. Adjust any hooks, straps, or ties to prevent movement.
Replace Headrests: If necessary, make small cuts in the cover fabric for the headrest mounts, then replace the headrests.
Smooth Out Creases: Tuck in excess fabric and smooth out any creases to ensure a neat appearance.
Caring for Your Car Seat Covers
Proper care can prolong the life of your car seat covers and keep them looking new. Here’s how to maintain them:
Vacuum Regularly: Prevent dirt buildup by vacuuming the covers often, especially if you have pets.
Spot Clean Stains: For spills or stains, use a mild cleaner suitable for the cover material. Blot the area with a clean cloth rather than rubbing.
Machine Wash When Possible: Some covers, like neoprene or canvas, are machine washable. Check the care instructions and follow them carefully to prevent damage.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Use gentle cleaning solutions that won’t harm the cover material or fade colors.
Benefits of Investing in High-Quality Australian Car Seat Covers
Quality car seat covers are an investment that provides numerous benefits beyond protection. Here’s why it pays to choose quality over price:
Increased Resale Value: Seat covers prevent wear and tear, helping to maintain the original condition of your seats. This can be beneficial if you plan to sell your car.
Enhanced Comfort: Premium materials offer added comfort, especially for long drives or during extreme weather.
Personalized Style: Seat covers allow you to personalize your car’s interior without a complete overhaul.
Long-Term Savings: By protecting your seats, you’ll avoid costly upholstery repairs in the future.

Reasons To Install An Overhead Garage Door in Oklahoma City, OK and OKC
Most homeowners use the garage as a purely functional space. The car is parked safely inside, and the related equipment and accessories are stored nearby. While there is no doubt about the garage's usefulness, choosing the right garage door may be a trifle challenging. The variety is enormous, and the consumer will be spoilt for choice. It makes sense to go for an overhead garage door in Oklahoma City, OK, and OKC. The overhead doors can be a practical solution for protecting the automobile. The aesthetic appeal must be addressed, too. Alternatively known as sectional doors, this type of door is a standard fixture in most residential and commercial properties. The garage door is one of the most oft-used and must be maintained meticulously. Available in various colors and made with diverse materials to ensure durability, the best overhead garage doors come with the following advantages:
· Security- The homeowner is always concerned about protecting the home from outside threats. Statistics reveal that burglaries and break-ins occur once every half an hour. True, the security systems, CCTV, and alarms would keep such threats at bay, but a weak garage door can be counterproductive. The modern overhead garage doors offer the best security possible. They are impossible to open unless the user has the opener. The sturdy door is impossible to break as well.
· Quality Insulation- An old garage becomes uncomfortable during summers and winters. While the car owner or a home occupant cannot use it for any other purpose, the vehicle may heat up or freeze, making it difficult for the owner to start the engine. Thankfully, such problems are eliminated when an advanced overhead garage door is installed in its place. Such doors come with superior insulation that optimizes the temperature inside the garage. Apart from ensuring proper garage usage in inclement weather, the garage owner experiences less strain on the HVAC system, which does not have to function for long hours. The low energy consumption is reflected most positively in the utility bills
· Low Maintenance- Maintenance usually includes regular cleaning and lubrication of the moving parts. While the door is durable and quite sturdy, one cannot rule out repairs occasionally, either. The repairs are simple and affordable as well. Besides, this type of garage door does not require repairs too often. It is, however, important to schedule maintenance services regularly. Checking the components and the opener closely will pay off in the long run.
Installation of a quality overhead garage door in Oklahoma City, OK, and OKC can add to the property's value. The new door captures instant attention with both aesthetics and functionality assured. Surprisingly, such garage doors may be integrated with smart technology, making the garage door accessible by remote control.

Understanding BMW Car Battery and Charging System Maintenance Tips for Longevity and Reliability
Whenever you think of enjoying your BMW peak performance, the first thing that hits your mind is upkeeping the battery and charging system, as both systems play crucial roles in keeping your adorable BMW in great shape and avoiding abrupt breakdowns. So, here is the essential guide containing the maintenance process to achieve an optimal driving experience down the road.
Understanding the battery
Nowadays, modern BMWs are blessed with absorbent glass mat batteries that ensure durability, bear harsh weather conditions, and manage high electrical loads. You must check the manufacturer’s manual to know the exact battery type used in your specific BMW model.
Mostly, your BMW battery lifespan is 3-5 years. If your BMW battery is about to cross this time frame, its the time for a replacement.
Routine battery inspection
Check for any signs of cracks or damages around the battery and white, powdery substance, rust, or dirt around the battery terminals every month.
Measure the battery voltage regularly using a multimeter. The voltage of a healthy battery should be 12.6 volts while the engine is idle. If the voltage measured is below 12.4 volts, you need to replace it.
Maintaining clean connections
Loose battery terminals can start causing battery troubles and gradually degrade the engine capability. So, make sure the battery terminals are tightened securely with perfect torque.
You can clean the corroded or dirty battery terminals by brushing out the dust and rust gently using baking soda and distilled water.
Keeping an eye on the charging system
The primary component of the charging system is the alternator that charges the battery while driving. Observing specific issues while ignition or noticing the battery warning light to illuminate or flicker at the dashboard indicates something is wrong with the alternator.
Inspect the drive belt for any sign of wear and tear or cracks. As the drive belt delivers energy to the alternator, it performs a critical role in charging the battery as well.
Be aware of the electrical load
High usage of electrical appliances like radio, stereo lights, infotainment, or air conditioner while the engine is off can drain the battery charge heavily and put unnecessary strain on the battery. So, avoid using electrical gadgets while not driving.
Remember to turn off all the electrical accessories before ignition. This can protect the battery from heavy load during the engine crank and leads to smoother ignition.
Operating your BMW frequently
Avoid short trips because covering short distances never charges the battery completely, and lack of charge can weaken the battery, reducing its lifespan.
Go for a long drive at least once a week to make the battery fully charged, enhancing the overall performance of your vehicle.
Dealing with harsh weather conditions
During winter, the battery loses its ability to hold the electric charge like before. So, don’t leave your car idle for so long. Remember to give the engine a crank once every day.
Like cold, extreme heat can also hamper the battery life by overheating the battery and the engine. So, try to park your BMW under shades or in underground parking lots to avoid excess heat during summer.
Detecting your BMW battery warning signs
If you notice the interior lights or the headlights dim or flicker, the battery or the alternator might be having some troubles.
If the dashboard battery or alternator warning lights appear, It can be a minor or severe electrical issue.
If your BMW engine doesn’t crank the way it should or delay in ignition can be the outcome of a weak or dead battery.
If the electrical accessories like infotainment, radio, stereo, power windows, or air conditioner don’t function properly or have some glitch, that could be due to a bad battery or alternator.
The bottom line
Looking after your BMW battery and charging system is not tough at all but can create critical troubles in the future if not addressed properly. As precaution is better than cure, you must observe the overall battery body, its terminals, the alternator, and the drive belt, as well as other electrical components, noticing every sign to avoid failure. This will not only save your money but also your time and energy, keeping you away from sudden failing while coving a trip. Therefore, show your BMW some extra love and care to enjoy a seamless ride with your loved ones.

Winter Weekend in Quebec City!
Sophie and I decided to brush off our dormant French skills, pack all of our warmest sweaters, and jaunt off to Quebec City for a long weekend! there is a Winter Carnaval going on with wintry activities and we plan to keep ourselves busy (and hopefully stay warm) exploring the city for a couple days!
Mom and Dad picked us up for the airport bright and early and Kenny carried Sophie’s suitcase down to the car for her, sadly without Kenny along for the trip Sophie has had to carry her own suitcase the rest of the day but she has borne it like a champ.
Our flight options were somewhat limited so we basically had the option of arriving at 11:30 pm with one layover or arriving at 5:30 pm but with two layovers, so I picked the two layovers and we both have brought along some good reading material for the trip. Interestingly, my backpack got flagged for additional screening while going through TSA- but not due to my portable charger which I assumed was what they were checking. They wanted to look at the physical book in my backpack- which is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in French, which I have been vaguely planning on reading for like the last 10 years since I read the first three in French. Was hoping the French vibes of Quebec City would inspire me to finally read it, but Who reads physical books anymore, must be suspicious 😂 I just got global entry for the first time and this trip was the first time I used the tsa precheck- the columbus airport is so small that it didn’t save me any time at all. But I did get to keep my shoes on. Currently on our last leg of our flight and our plane has propellers! Which is cute. If you’re reading this post our propeller plane must have made it to our destination!
We are staying in an air b n b in the Old city part of Quebec City, which is a walled former fort from the 1600s. It was snowing when we arrived and we grabbed dinner and then enjoyed a snowy evening walk around the city. The majority of this walk was so cute- winter wonderland vibes, and it was actively snowing an inch or so while we walked around. There is an ice skating rink, parks, a really excessive number of Bronze statues of famous Quebecers (some of which were a bit creepy in the dark covered in snow!) we found the location of a few landmarks we may visit tomorrow. Got very chilly and snow covered by the end of our walk. Sophie has purchased a cheap but cute pink digital camera that takes very poor quality pictures so you all have some excellent images to look forward too 😂
Friday morning was our first full day in Quebec City! Neither Sophie nor I usually eat breakfast first thing, so we planned for a stroll around and then a later breakfast. I wake up a lot earlier than Sophie so I enjoyed my trusty travel Starbucks Via coffee and read my e book for a while until Sophie woke up. Both of us had weird snow hair/ bed head from being out in the snow the night before so it was a good thing it was cold and we could get away with full time hat usage to cover that up! We both packed furry leggings, jeans and fully layered up on the coat and jackets, scarves and gloves. I was not a fan of any of the winter attire I brought with me- all relics of my early high school ski club 😂 so I planned to be on the lookout for some new more fashionable winter accessories while we did some window shopping and found some souvenirs.
Once we suited up for the cold, we took a stroll in The opposite direction from the evening before- first stop was to duck into the Catholic Church in downtown Quebec City. Love a beautiful old church, and there was a museum exhibit in a side room discussing St Francois de Levalle who is an important figure in early Quebec history of the church. Then we did a lot of meandering which is my favorite way to explore a new city- up to the fancy hotel, and back through the streets. Did some souvenir shopping- went in a bunch of weird shops, including like a chapelier- or a hat shop that only sells fancy hats- and an artisanal craft store that somehow sold even fancier hats. Then we went in a home goods type store and I found a cute new significantly less expensive new winter hat that was on clearance. And of course lots of souvenir shops selling various items with Canadian flags on them.
Our top destination on this trip was a bus tour to the ice hotel! The ice hotel is only up in Quebec City in the winter, and melts away in the spring. and it’s not really in the city, it’s like 40 minutes away at a winter village with snow tubing and an indoor water park like Great Wolf Lodge. Easiest way to get there from where we were staying in the walled part of the city was taking a bus tour. The tour times seemed tight to me- a bus there at 12:30 and the bus home at 2:45, but they did have a second bus back at 6:00. but that was really plenty of time to see the ice hotel, there is an ice bar and ice slide inside, but other than peeking in each room, there wasn’t too much to do inside the hotel. we learned that if you book a room to stay in the hotel, they provide -30 degree rated sleeping bags for you and they also book a secondary room inside a real hotel room in case you wimp out and can’t make the whole night. The hotel is a balmy -4 degrees Celsius and the instant we walked inside Sophie said, “I COULD not do it”. the rooms are all artistically rendered snow carvings and the beds are made of ice with a mattress on top. There were
“Cheaper” rooms with no carvings just plain snow walls. There is a bathroom in the ice hotel but luckily not made of ice ;)
We definitely enjoyed the ice hotel bar- they serve the drinks as shots in blocks of ice! neither of us packed water proof gloves so I was a bit concerned that my ice would melt onto my glove and get it wet, but it was cold enough that that really did not happen at all. Sophie has a fun looking drink with blue curaçao and that was way more impressive looking in the ice glass than my off white colored amaretto drink with crème- note to self for future ice bars!
Sophie was slowly turning into a human icicle during the ice hotel tour so we managed to snag some coffees before we rode the tour bus home. I don’t really get cold so I was okay- Sophie is an excellent sport for agreeing to come on a winter adventure with me but we made sure she never got *too* cold haha!
I thought the bus ride part to the ice hotel would be more of a tour but it was basically the same highway to the airport and not scenic at all. The couple from
Texas behind us were having a loud chat about how they had never heard of Tim Hortons before and I enjoyed listening to their weird conversations while Sophie snoozed a bit on the bus.
Went back to the airbnb to recharge a bit and add on some more layers for dinner and then going to the actual winter carnival! This year is the 70th anniversary of the carnival and the have events for two weeks including ice canoing, concerts, parades, masked balls, a creepy snowman mascot named Bonhomme. We had an effigy, or a little ticket to get access to
The events, and were thinking we would be doing more carnival activities, but our timing/ location was sort of off so we really only did a couple activities and probably could have skipped the carnival ticket entirely, or come a different weekend to take better advantage of more activities. I also get the sense that the carnival used to be a bit more debauchery/ partying and now is more family friendly with things like ice skating and kids activities. It did make for great people watching all weekend though!
we wound up at a little burger place advertising good cocktails for dinner. I got some poutine- classic Canadian snack with fries, cheese curds, and gravy. the cocktail lists at nearly everywhere we have been are sorely lacking in bourbon or whisky drinks. Lots of gin and vodka, but no whiskey. Canada has a lot of Canadian whiskey/ rye so it makes no sense! Our waitress at the burger place had never heard of a Manhattan and had to check with the bartender that he could make it. (He could and it was actually quite good lol)
After dinner we headed to our only carnival activities which were visiting an ice sculpture garden, igloo, and Bonhomme’s Ice Palace! we had a lot
of fun taking pictures of the sculptures and the ice palace was cool, but the festival crowd was picking up and the line was crazy. It was jam packed shuffling through the ice palace and we didn’t even see Bonhomme, though of course we saw many of his statues. Unlike the ice hotel, which was cool inside but meh outside, the ice palace was cool in both directions but you definitely could not sleep there. We also enjoyed drinking some Carnival Hot Toddy’s and standing by the fire after the ice palace.
In approximately 2012, my parents gave me some random Canadian money ($80) that was dated 1991. I guess they assumed I’d go to Canada someday- I do like to travel. And I’ve had that money in my little coin collection for over a decade now haha. I finally made it to Canada and have now used up the cash, but turns out Canadian money has all changed in design and every time i used the money the Canadian people were so impressed at the old money and wanted to chat with me about it. One girl tried to tell me it was probably worth more than $20- google says poor condition 1991 dollars might go for like $23. The reaction in the US if you used 30 year old money would literally be nothing haha. also the whole point of spending that cash was to get rid of it so mission accomplished!
Our hot toddy’s warmed us somewhat but Sophie was still freezing so back to the air bnb. We both needed to shower and the hot water was amazing- it went down to about 10 degrees last night outside. It was very difficult to get out of the shower after into the cold- our air bnb is cute but old and likely could be warmer haha. We watched a bit of the movie Groundhog Day before bed, otherwise known as “ jour de la marmotte” en francais! Spring is early per Punxsutawney Phil- sure doesn’t feel that way in Quebec City though!
Day 2
We were more tired this morning and got a bit of a later start so I enjoyed my coffee and e book for a couple hours while Sophie slept longer and then we started the day with getting breakfast. Realized I forgot to say that we also had breakfast yesterday, which wasn’t important expect I had crepes that weren’t really very good and so we picked another crepe restaurant and I had much better Nutella and banana crepes this morning :) at yesterdays breakfast we also had a Caribou- which is a little hot spiced wine. Very enjoyeable as a winter cocktail, I don’t know if other people usually drink them at breakfast but we are on vacation! :)
after breakfast we went back to the air bnb to get in our very warmest clothes because we decided to take a round trip ferry ride across the ice in the St Laurence River! Base on our two walks past the boardwalk overlooking the river, which was bitingly cold wind every time we walked past- we were worried the ferry would be absolutely frigid and miserable. So we elected to double all our layers to walk down to the ferry, just in case we would be freezing. Even with our double
Layers, neither of us bothered to wear the extremely fuzzy polar fleece robe/sweater thing that I packed for no reason that took up SO much space in my suitcase 😂 the ferry dock is on the lower part of Quebec City and down from the rest of the walled part that we had been exploring up to this point. To get there it was a truly excessive down hill walk with tons of stairs. The ferry ride itself was just out and back directly across the river to the town of Levis, and only cost $7.50 Canadian and took about 15 minutes each direction, but Sophie and I agreed it was our favorite part of the trip :) love a ferry and we got to watch (and hear!) the boat sliding through the ice on the river, cracking the ice along the way. it was nowhere near as cold as we feared it would be, the sun even came out and the views of the river, the city, and the hills in the distance were unbeatable!
We stopped in Levis for about 20 minutes, walked around an outdoor ice rink that a Zamboni was working on, and enjoyed the view from the opposite river bank, and then headed back on the boat to Quebec City.
We then decided to chill for a bit at a brewery in the lower part of the city (it was called Archibald- almost Sophie’s last name! So we were destined to stop there. ) The beer was good, my go to beer order is whatever wheat beer/ Hefeweizen/ white ale type beer that tastes the most like blue moon and they even served it with an orange like blue moon. I decided I was going to go do a tour of the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, which is the big picturesque castle looking building that is the quintessential landmark of the city, and Sophie wanted to head back to relax in the air bnb for a bit. So, to get back up to the walled part of the city, we got to ride the Funiculaire! What is a Funiculaire exactly? Well, Columbus is the flattest city ever so would never have need of one, but it’s basically a tiny little elevator that takes you up the large hill without having to take the stairs. 5 dollars for a ride was a bit steep for the 30 second ride but we felt it was well worth it. It’s cash only so I got rid of more Canadian money, and found it funny that they accepted either $5 American or Canadian. That’s a bad deal for the Americans as it’s like $6.70 Canadian for 5 US haha.
I found a guy selling little watercolors along the street and I found one I loved so I had to buy it- not sure where I’ll hang it once I get home but I loved it :) I stopped and drank an espresso for my pastry and waited for my tour to arrive near the Hotel. The guide was an old man dressed as the old governor of Quebec from the 1600s, and the tour was nice- an assortment of the history of the city and the hotel, and getting to walk through various areas of the hotel like the ballroom and the wine cellar . The hotel namesake, Count Frontenac, was in charge when the British demanded a surrender of the then fort, requesting an immediate response or facing war, to which the guy replied, “my only response will be from the mouth of cannons” which is pretty badass. And clearly Quebec stayed French Canadian haha. Also turns out that FDR, Winston Churchill, and the prime minister of Canada met at the hotel and nearby Citadel military base to plan the DDay invasion. Various celebrities have stayed in the hotel, and we also got to see their bottle of Louis the VIII which sells for $250 a half ounce at the bar, and you can get a bottle for your own for like $50000. Apparently there is a famous masked ball hosted in the hotel as well as a very elegant New Years Eve party.
After my hotel tour I went back to the apartment- Sophie and I only had one key, and no data to text when I arrived- though likely could have connected to the WiFi from the street. Our plan was to have me knock on the window of our building so she would let me in, and if she didn’t respond or we would otherwise get separated, we’d meet where we had breakfast in the morning. Backup rendezvous not needed but you never know when traveling! we took a rest to finish watching Groundhog Day and then accidentally wound up eating dinner at a fancy restaurant- I enjoyed some Manhattans, and a very delicious but tiny meal of Canadian Walleye. But I was still hungry after dinner so then we got some late night banh mi from a Bubble tea place near our place😂
other than having to book a surge priced Uber to get us to the airport causing some minor morning stress, we wound up back to the Quebec Airport without issue and made it to our flight connecting through Toronto- writing this from the plane on the last stretch. We thoroughly enjoyed our whirlwind winter wonderland Vacation in Quebec City! Still not sure how I convinced Sophie to come with me somewhere so cold but we had a blast- Love you Sophie! 🌨️☃️❄️

do all the 20s for the meme :)
BLESS YOU FOR THIS im SO EXCITED OKAY SO
20 . do they have a “comfort outfit” or a go to look? if so, why did they choose those pieces?
Teagan is absolutely a big t-shirt/hoodie and leggings kinda girl when she isn’t feeling like dressing up, maybe with a pair of flashy boots to at least feel like she put a little bit of effort into her look but. Mostly a pair of tennis shoes or even a pair of slippers, she isn’t above that LMAO her every day look is casual but with lots of black &/or muted tones. Tank top, zip up hoodie, ripped up jeans. Studded belt is a must.
first one is her lazy comfort outfit, second is an every day sorta thing
21. in a relationship, are they the ones stealing their partners’ clothing? or are they the ones having their clothes stolen?
It really depends on the relationship; if she is with a masc person usually she is the one to do the stealing, but if she is with a femme person she is usually offering her jackets and oversized stuff constantly. Nothing is better than oversized partner clothing 😭
22. do they have bumper stickers on their car? if so, what kind? (bonus points for pictures!)
She has all kinda of band stickers, from her own band to other bands she has toured with to some of her favorites that she has seen in concert. Aside from that she def has some pride stickers and at least one amoeba music sticker and some other weird ones that she either got online or as gifts from friends like:
23. do they have a comfort movie? book? tv show?
She really really loves the x files, and even though she thinks its utter trash from the jump she also loves supernatural. Pretty much any shitty teen romance/drama/thriller with supernatural / post apocalyptic themes are in heavy rotation (think twilight or hunger games) and shes too much of a book nerd to pick just one, really LMAO
24. if forced to wear socks, what kind do they prefer? ( ankle? crew cut? patterned? plain? )
She is a black ankle/low cut sock kinda girly, usually no pattern. If not that then she might be wearing stripes but thats VERY uncommon. Shes usually wearing boots so its not like you can really see them anyway!!!
25. what do they do when they are deep in thought? ( bite their nails? twirl a strand of hair? lick their lips? just look off to the side? nothing too exciting because this is a highly specific question? lol )
Shes a lip biter for sure, I've actually considered giving her a lip piercing to chew on when she’s thinking but i am still on the fence about that. Other than lip biting she wrings her hands a lot and plays with her acrylics
26. what is their favorite snack food?
Flaming. Hot. cheetos. pair that with a liquid death and she is SET.
27. what do their hair care products smell like?
For the most part its vanilla and warm sugar, maybe a toasted marshmallow perfume thrown on top or maybe some sort of chai smelling perfume? Really rich and sweet; the kinda stuff that makes you think of fall and winter.
28. how dedicated are they to their favorite color? must everything they own be that color? do they even care that much?
Her favorite color is blue, and she really likes it but shes not terribly dedicated to it. Shes a thrifter and an opportunist when it comes to clothes and accessories, so she will make do with whatever. Things like pens, toothbrushes, hair brushes / etc that you can get at a store that might come in a few different colors though…. She is more inclined to reach for the blue ones than something else.
29. what does their perfume smell like, and how much do they put on?
I already kinda answered this one above but she wears lots of warm and sweet smells, and she wears quite a lot of it too. She absolutely has a small bottle that she carries around with her to refresh after smoking a cigarette or eating or something. Depending on the season her smell might slightly change, like in spring it might be more vanilla and flowers, summer would be more warm sugar and coconut, fall vanilla and maybe something pumpkin spice adjacent, and winter would be some really vanilla chai/ spicy smelling one.
