He was plastered. Completely drunk out of his mind. Everything that had happened between him and Kyra was finally catching up and finally getting the best of him. Throwing away their perfect marriage for something that wasn’t even worth it? The pain and guilt and thought of how much he put Kyra through was finally there. Which was why he turned to the bottle. Shots after shots at a local bar until he was being kicked out for drunk and disorderly behavior. And he knew, deep down inside where the toxins didn’t take over, that calling her wasn’t a good idea. But he did it anyway and he begged and begged for Kyra to come. Begged for her help until she had given in. And when she finally arrived, he was seated on the curb of the sidewalk, head bowed into his legs and mind racing from how intoxicated he was. It was pathetic. Pathetic and he knew it. “You’re here,” he finally began, slow and slurred as her blue hues glanced up at the blurred vision of his soon to be ex-wife. “You’re here. Thank god.”
