the things is, hyde is an embodiment of jekyll’s evil. he is jekyll, just without the parts that make hime good. and isn’t that so scary? the person who takes over your body sometimes, who does these awful things - he may give himself another name, but he’s still you. i think that’s what makes jekyll and hyde so interesting and so devastating to me, the thought of jekyll having that crushing realisation that he is hyde, and hyde is him. and he can’t undo that

One of the potential endings for Jekyll/Hyde's part of my AU was for for Edward to sort of "evolve" and take on more of Jekyll's traits. he'd grow taller, visibly age, and settle somewhere in between the two forms, effectively reconciling his dual nature and finding balance. While I was drinking my coffee I decided to play around with what that might look like and this was the result. I don't dislike it, I don't know if I'll go that route in my re-write but I do like what it represents for my version of the character, which is a sense of growth, maturity and self-acceptance.

Is it just me or does everybody else also coincidentally design their jekyll with long low tied brown hair, gray streaks, brown vest, temple-less glasses, blue tie and pinstriped pants. I’ve seen 6 of them already 😅 (bonus if he has long black gloves………….)

There's something about the trope where the genius delves so far into the need for creation that they get lost in their own mind and end up sacrificing their health (mental or physical) and their very Being in order to continue and in order to be something Great that just always gets to me

Like yes, go off and become something you don't recognize, as you don't know who you are outside of your need to be Known ! Fall from greatness in order to Be great in your skewed perceptions ! Scramble towards the divine and become something monstrous because of it !

Hi TGS tumblr! Again. It is now a reasonable time to be awake and I wanna share one of the funnier thoughts I had immediately after reading the comic.

But first, reminder to Free Palestine 🇵🇸🫡

Ok ok.

Think about it logically. The entirety of Chapter One is stupid funny and impossible- that, or Jekyll can run REALLY fast or can teleport or something. (*insert unfunny pun about how amazing he is at juggling roles*).

So the chapter starts with Hyde right? With his whole ‘oooh I’m the Spirit of London at night’ shenanigans ‘I know all things in this city, and see it all, and I know the deepest desires of men. I’m a shadow oooh.’ Yeah, unrelated- I love him.

But we also know that in the first scene, he speaks to Jekyll. Jekyll tells him to hurry up, etc etc. Hyde sets the scene for us with Jasper’s little predicament, and then shuffles away.

In about the space of 10mins? Hyde’s gone somewhere to drink that bloody potion, changed into Jekyll’s clothes, made himself look presentable, hopped into Lanyon’s carriage and swooped in to save our boy Jasper. Then he gives the most dashing smile in modern media history, but that’s besides the point.

Like hello? The Society is almost certainly NOT in Bethnal Green; it would take a while to get back to his lab, lest he drank the potion and changed his clothes somewhere else.

Also, he shows up in impeccable manner, with a very calm tone of voice. How does he do that? He’s a bit crazy but none of this makes logical sense to be coherently chronological.

Jackie looks over to her… what is he? Her boyfriend? Her really good friend? Her acquaintance? She sighs, frustrated with herself. “I wish I could hate you.”

Hyde doesn’t say anything, just watches her. If he says something, he might put his foot in it even further.

“But I just can’t.” She studies her perfectly pink manicure. She sighs, because this next part is going to be hard. “And I don’t think I can love you anymore either.”

“Jackie—“

“You hurt me, Steven. All because you decided you saw something. Something that didn’t happen!”

He swallows, trying to keep his zen. “So that’s it?”

She shrugs. She doesn’t want it to be it, but she doesn’t want to be hurt again either. Either way, she’s unhappy. So she makes a decision. Quietly, she whispers, “that’s it.”

I drink down the concoction of my own invention, stronger than any liquid courage.
