The slogan for this year’s Bike Week is "bikes, live music, good beer." Executive Director of the Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce Ashely Upchurch shared her excitement with us, “I'm super excited to be playing a larger role in the Chamber as the new director, and it's fitting that this will be my first event in this role as it's my favorite! Anything to ring in summer is great in my book.” The week is complete with a 'thigh-burner' of singletrack race, the Fat Tire 40, clinics, a Film Festival, the Chainless World Championships, beer, and a fantastic party. “Obviously I'm particularly looking forward to the Chainless on Friday, but the Fat Tire 40 party is also a blast! The film fest is on Friday night at 6:30 p.m., and it's a great collaboration of bike videos. All in all, we're looking forward to a spectacular long weekend of bikes and parties!” Ashley said.

That moment when you find an old video from a trek in Peru and are instantly taken back to the moment. Nothing quite beats a self inspired song from a local Incan guide, reflecting on the majesty of the Andes. Learning from locals, the power and spirit of the mountains, can inspire a whole new understanding of our connection to the earth. After all, earth without art is just eh. #travelsustainably #duniaunificada #peru #andesmountains #lares #thisismyreligion #optoutside #musicinthemountains (at Peru)

Enjoy Todo Mundo Tomorrow
Tumblr media
It was a hot sunny day in Salida, Colorado at the FIBark festival when I got a chance to sit down with Todo Mundo lead singer Santiago Orozco.  We talked about the band and their up and coming show in Crested Butte.
How did the band Todo Mundo begin?
I was born in Colombia and moved to the USA when I was 23 years old.  I lived in a lot of places, but eventually made my way to San Diego.  I didn’t know anyone, so I just started playing on the streets.  I played at farmers markets and anywhere I could throughout San Diego.  From there, people began to approach me and ask if they could play with me.  The band just took on a form of its own and here we are now.  It has been a great journey.
How long has your band been playing together?
We have been playing together for 5 years, but band members have been in an out.
What motivates you to make and play music?
I love to make people happy. I get to do something that I love that brings joy to others, and it is truly the best and very inspiring!  My love for playing music comes from deep inside my soul that is so powerful and difficult to explain.  It is very organic.
Are all the band member from the United States?
I am the only member of the band that isn’t from the United States.
What do you love about touring in Colorado?
The mountains here are so beautiful and we feed off its energy.  It is really peaceful here and driving down these beautiful roads is so inspiring.
This is your second time to Crested Butte, what do you like about playing at CB?
Well, we were supposed to play in Crested Butte a few years ago, but our van broke down and we were not able to play.  We were super bummed about it, but we are excited to play this time.  We are ready to make up for not being able to play a few years go.  We are excited and look forward to putting on a great show!
How long is your current tour?
We will be on tour for 2 months.
What has been the biggest accomplishment as a band?
In a different perspective, the city of San Diego recognized our band for being a vehicle of unity to the city of San Diego.  We may be from different countries, backgrounds, and have different personalities, but we are all the same and are all connected.
What would you say to aspiring bands and singer-songwriters hoping to do what you do?  First, you must believe in yourself no matter what.  It is how we express ourselves.  It is very healthy for you.  Secondly, practice patience every single day with playing music.  With music you have to be patient and you cannot rush anything.
