¡Feliz día de la radio! Tengo la gran suerte de haber pasado la mayoría de estos últimos años ligado de un modo u otro a la radio, un medio que me encanta y me apasiona. Sharing Music in the Community

It’s simple. Things are better when we share them. I love sharing music with people. From sharing music with the community for charity, to sharing my choir with the community for local events, to sharing my choir with other choir leaders for their events.

Yesterday the Local Vocals had a recording session (thank you students from Leeds College of Music) with the legend Sammy King. We’ve sung with him a couple of times before and really enjoyed the experience so it made sense that when the opportunity arose to take it further and record something with him that we would go for it.

The experience of recording with an artist like Sammy King (a local songwriter and musician/singer who has performed with many well known bands including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and written for legends like Roy Orbison) got me to thinking about collaboration and sharing in the music industry. But I’m talking specifically at the community level, so community choirs, orchestras, schools and so on.

Here are some simple ideas for how we can share more music in our communities:

1. Have our choirs perform at community events, like galas or markets, or for care homes or schools.

2. Give local music students a chance to perform at local events like choir concerts, or community events.

3. Have choirs support local artists in local performances.

4. Give collaborative choir concerts with neighbouring choirs.

5. Have community choirs working with local schools giving opportunities to students to conduct, accompany or sing.

6. Have local choir leaders give singing workshops at community or charity events.

7. Have choirs busking or flash-mobbing at markets, shopping centres or events.

The Sunset Concert Series Returns to the Theater in the Wood!

The highly anticipated music series is back for the Summer of 2021 and is going to be bigger and better than ever before! Enjoy live music every Friday evening beginning mid-July!

INTERVALE, NH –Every Friday night beginning on July 16th through September 24th, live music can be enjoyed on the lawn behind the Theater in the Wood!  The eleven-week series has something for every type of music fan in the Mt. Washington Valley. From soul, rock and roll, grunge, reggae, blues, or country, there is something for everyone! The Sunset Concert Series will kick off with the one and only Adam Ezra Group on Friday, July 16th!  The following Friday, July 23rd, the Theater in the Wood welcomes new comers to the Valley: The Duppy Conquerors, a tribute to Bob Marley!  On Friday, July 30th, we celebrate Jerry Garcia with none other than the “Blues-Grassicana” band, August First! The Big Takeover, led by the powerhouse, Jamaican-born singer and songwriter NeeNee Rushie, hits the stage on Friday, August 6th.  Billy Wylder and their incredible mixture of American folk and rock perform on August 13th.  Modern soul artist, Jesse Dee and his full band jam out on Friday, August 20th while the 10-piece blues band, The Blues Brother Next Generation will visit Mt. Washington Valley for the first time to perform on August, 27th. Rocking and rolling into September, the grunge duo of Muddy Ruckus visits the Theater in the Wood on Friday, September 3rd.  Continuing to rock out while adding a bit of Celtic flair, The American Rogues join the fun on Friday, September 10th.  The series then takes a turn into the world of country music with No Shoes Nation Band – a tribute to Kenny Chesney, performing on Friday, September 17th.  The final performance of the series will be a big one, as local favorites, the Starlight Honeys, take the stage on Friday, September 24th. Doors to the venue will open at 7:00 pm with performances starting at 7:30 pm every Friday evening.  Tickets must be purchased in advance.  Lawn seating for each concert is $19 while premium seating is $27.
