Wangja University KRP has reached its reservation goal! Tentative opening date: July 20th, 2024

Thank you to everyone from the roleplay community who has supported and promoted our group so far! We want to give a special thanks to the roleplay directories and each writer joining us on this creative journey soon.

In this post, we will detail the next steps for everyone who has submitted a reservation and or an application for their muse so far. Please read this post carefully and reach out to us if you have any questions about the instructions below! We hope to see you all soon!

This roleplay is still open for reservations up until our opening date (July 20th). After that day, prospective applicants will have to apply when they are ready. In the future, we will only accept reservations during temporary application closures or extensive activity checks.

Reservation Submissions: Writers who have submitted a reservation for a faceclaim and or role/position for their muse in the roleplay have until July 13th, 11:00 PM EST to apply. After that day, their reservation will be considered expired and their reserved faceclaim/position will be free again.

Application Submissions: Writers who have already applied and received a reply from the admins will receive a formal welcome message in their inbox through the form of contact they listed on their application. This message will contain the Mewe profile links for two admin accounts to follow. Applicants have until July 13th, 11:00 PM EST to follow both admin accounts sent to their inbox. Once the admin accounts have followed you back, you will be invited to (7) Mewe groups. Your muse’s Mewe account will be messaged by the admins with further instructions. Our tentative opening date will be July 20th. Since we anticipate that some applicants will arrive early and be eager to write, we will have prompts to keep everyone’s creative juices flowing until our official open date! Keep in mind that activity requirements will be relaxed until we open. We will keep you updated as frequently as possible to keep the spirits alive during this opening period.

Admin Note: The admin team will do our best to make the opening of this roleplay a smooth transition for you all. Please be patient with us since we still have out-of-character responsibilities to manage while maintaining this roleplay. We’ve set this particular schedule accordingly so that you all can have our attention when it's needed the most. Thank you for understanding!

hi, i’ve been lurking the main and really admire the work you’ve put into this group <3!! however, and please understand that i’m not being hostile, but i’ve been noticing a huge influx of korean industry fcs in this group & it makes me reaaaally uncomfortable. i’m korean, love my culture, love kpop & kdramas, and i love some of those fcs, but EVERY SINGLE group with a lot of these fcs has always made me feel alienated, fetishized, etc. years in this community have taught me that there are practically no exceptions to how strange a korean industry fc-dominated group can be, even if it’s not because of admins’ influence. i know that you can’t help who applies & that this isn’t a unique issue to this group, but this is one of the few groups i’m interested in applying for in months 😜 but i feel iffy doing it if i 99% know i’ll inevitably be frustrated in because i’m surrounded by people’s weird perceptions abt my culture. that sounds like a threat SORRRYYY i don’t mean it like that & you don’t even have to post this message? but i just wanted to raise a concern that i’m sure isn’t just being noticed by me!

 to  our  members  and  prospective  members  ,  as  this  anon  implores  us  as  a  group  to  reflect  ,  i  want  to  draw  attention  to  the  DIVERISTY  UMBRELLA  section  located  in  our  guidelines  .  while  there  is  a  1:1  ratio  where  for  every  white  fc  you  play  must  be  matched  with  a  fcoc  ,  please  be  diverse  in  your  fc  choices  .  this  isn't  to  single  anyone  out  or  target  anyone  specifically  but  if  you  find  yourself  leaning  more  towards  korean  industry  fcs  in  particular  ,  please  be  be  mindful  of  this  !  and  as  a  reminder:  the  admin(s)  reserve  the  right  to  decline  an  app  based  on  inactivity  or  lack  of  diversity  .  this  can  and  will  extend  to  the  lack  of  diversity  in  fc  choices  . as  an  admin  ,  this  is  a  tough  call  to  make  .  i  want  to  avoid  taking  drastic  measures  but  will  in  order  to  mitigate  this  if  there  is  no  improvement  .

can you believe that one year ago today, we hosted our grand opening event? time has certainly flown by! 

first and foremost, we want to thank everyone who has been a member at any point in wannabe’s existence. you are the reason that we have had such an amazing community of writers and kpop fans so far and we have absolutely adored being your admins. there’s been so many amazing characters, plots, and friendships both in-character and out of character on our dashboard and we couldn’t be more proud of the community that we’re creating here. we can’t wait to see what the next year and beyond will bring to wannabe.

if wannabe was a tv show, the conclusion of NEXT GEN was the finale of season one. after a brief break, we’re back and ready to kick off season two! we already have so many fun things planned behind the scenes; different kinds of casting events, more trainee events, and maybe even debuts...? you’ll just have to stick around and see! no events are being announced today, but in the next week or two we should have some fun things coming your way.

as we gear up for the next season of wannabe, we wanted to take this opportunity to make a few updates to our rules as well as a few other behind the scenes updates to share with you all. we have a lot of important announcements under the cut, including a much-requested addition to the directory, so please read on for the full anniversary celebration!

that’s right; in honor of our anniversary, we’d like to give a small gift to each of our members! every current muse has one free chance token to use whenever they’d like. the chance token tracker has been updated to give everyone one bonus token. we’re also extending this reward to any new muses who join this wednesday, june 28th.

we’ve added a new sideblog as an archive for previous themes! this archive will document our growth and aesthetic changes over the last few months and includes special themes like the april fools event.

there was a small mistake in the trainee system page that’s been corrected; we previously neglected to list instruments as a broad category in the list despite it appearing in our sample document.

— RULES & GUIDELINES UPDATES

muns and muses now must both be at least 18 years old to be accepted to this directory. the limit was originally 16. when we were creating this directory, we were admittedly out of touch with the current tumblr krp community after having been distant from it for a few years. the idol progression genre historically had attracted many high school students or even younger muns, but we recognize now that the community has grown up and new young writers haven’t really come in, at least not at the ages when we originally joined the community. the thought process was that we’d rather minors not lie about their ages so we could make sure that everyone was being appropriate and practicing internet safety. we also felt that it’d be even weirder to force a minor to write an adult character, hence allowing younger faceclaims. no one under the age of 18 has ever joined wannabe in the year we’ve been open, therefore we’re enacting this rule and will not allow faceclaims under the age of 18 to be reserved or written here as well.

along the same lines, our aging up/down rules have changed slightly. any faceclaim under the age of 19 cannot have their age changed, nor will we allow a muse over the age of 19 to be aged down any younger than 19 years old. faceclaims who are 18 must be written as 18-year-olds. no faceclaims may be aged down to under the age of 18.

we realized that we never formally added a disclaimer that we reserve the right to reject applications based on past actions or the opinions of our community, so this has been added to the rules as well. we’re not holding a vote every time we receive a new application, but we do monitor the general opinions of our community quietly. certain names have been mentioned frequently by a certain number of members or serious allegations were brought to our attention.

we know this has been a much-anticipated addition, so we’re very excited to announce that we are now allowing 3rd muses at wannabe! in order to reserve and apply for a third muse, you must be active on your current two muses for four consecutive weeks. if you go on hiatus or the warning list on one or both muses during the waiting period, the timer resets.

as we allow third muses, we’ve also added a rule that no mun may claim more than two faceclaims from the same idol group. exceptions may be made in the case of temporary groups (iz*one, wanna one, etc.). we completely understand having a favorite group to write, however we want to encourage a diverse group of faceclaims and also allow opportunities for new members to claim faces from their favorite groups as well.

just curious, how does this whole krp thing work?

Hello, anon! We've received a couple of messages similar to this, so I hope you don't mind me answering both inquiries in one response. KRP is essentially a widespread writing community of roleplaying as K-POP idols. You choose an Asian idol as a faceclaim or muse, and portray that idol. There's General KRP (gen) roleplays which are basically portraying your character as part of the real idolverse, following their real-life schedules and content to write and post about. There are also AU (alternative universe) roleplays where you portray your faceclaim/muse as an OC (original character), so their personality is something you can create entirely yourself. Choosing which kind of KRP to join does come down to personal preference, but many writers are members of both general and AU communities! For example, if you were interested in joining Blue Flame, you would first read through our rules page. That can also explain how things work more in depth! Once you're aware of the rules, you can either reserve an idol muse through our inbox to secure your spot, or go right ahead and send in an application via our google doc.
