Y'know. Maybe staring this Aeonic elder god in the face was not the best of ideas.
The screaming, cursing and still prevalent feeling of being put into a godly nuclear reactor is a sensation that is not leaving anytime soon. What the Stellaron within is feeling on the other hand?
Wow, a touch of home.

For such a violent Aeon, Nanook was a quiet soul.
Many of your conversations were one-sided, with you rambling about your day while Nanook merely listened and observed, occasionally playing with your hair or poking at you - much like a cat, you'd often say. Whenever you mentioned that to them, they'd only respond with a comforting rumbling of their chest, which was their version of a chuckle.
You laid on your side in their large palm, the Aeon currently occupied with other matters - most likely implanting another Stellaron in some unfortunate planet. Rings of molten gold glowed above you, some of that glowing liquid dripping down in waterfalls of melted metal. But you paid no matter to that.
Instead, you focused on tracing lines on the Aeon's palm, fascinated with the folds and scars that spanned over their dark skin. Beneath those thin stretches of skin glowed the golden blood of Nanook, much like a lantern. When you pressed your ear against them, you could briefly feel a pulsing beat against your head - Nanook's heartbeat.
You hummed to yourself, a sweet melody drifting through the endless void. When Nanook was busy, it was in your best interest to keep quiet. Any distractions, and Nanook might accidentally kill you instead of a planet (it's happened before).
It took a few moments of pure silence before you noticed a pair of eyes trained on your body. Knowing that there was only one other person in this space, you rolled over to meet Nanook's gaze.
You couldn't see the entirety of Nanook's body from where you were, but you didn't mind. The honey-like amber of Nanook's eyes was enough to enrapture you - no matter how many times you saw it, you were fascinated by their beauty each time.
The Aeon rested their head on one of their hands, leaning into their palm as they watched you - a hint of fondness making its way onto their expression.
You smiled cheekily up at the Aeon whose name sparked fear into the hearts of countless.
"Enjoying the view?" you teased. Nanook raised a brow.
"And if I am?" they mused. Their voice was low, yet unbelievably loud. It rumbled throughout the galaxy, both soothing and overwhelming to your ears.
Rather than replying, you sat up and beckoned towards them, making grabbing motions with your hands. Obliging, Nanook lifted you to their face so that you could touch them.
Their skin was warm like a fireplace under your skin. Nanook's eyes fluttered closed as you kissed their nose and nuzzled against them. A smile flickered onto their lips, but it was gone as fast as it had come.
"You know," you hummed, "for an Aeon of Destruction, you're awfully gentle."
"Only for you."
You chuckled, pressing your forehead to theirs as they tilted their head down. "Quite adorable too."
You didn't see it, but you knew Nanook was rolling their eyes at you. But you didn't really care. All that mattered right now was this moment, a silent yet intimate night among the cosmos.

Dream AU
I have asks and dw I'm doing them, just had random brainrot so we posting this chicken scratch first
HSR but when you dream you enter their world and you're like wow!!! Sick dream! And they're like where the fuck did this random ass person come from?
Called dream AU cause you teleport there in your dreams, originally was going to be self aware but I think this works better.
Something about Aeons x Reader just got me in SHAMBLES.
Using he/him pronouns for Nanook
Part 2 is out
I'd like to imagine the first time you dream that you're in HSR you appear in front of an Aeon. Not just any Aeon but Nanook. As the Antimatter Legion launches its attack on the Herta Space Station, Nanook doesn't feel the need to pay much attention. Oh there was a person with a Stellaron in them, that was unique. Nanook didn't spare them more than a glance though, they'd be destroyed soon anyway.
Then, another interesting anomaly appears. Another human, in front of him, not even floating through the space but walking through it as if it was their own backyard. A nuisance, one deliberately far away from the rest of the anti matter legion. Had you tried to escape? It didn't matter. With a simple blink you would be gone.
Yet even as he felt destruction reach out to you, it had no effect, you remained perfectly unharmed albeit confused. Then your eyes landed on him, and excitement filled your face. Excitement? You moved faster, small legs carrying you toward Nanook. Humans were pitifully small, like insects only existing to infect the world. It was his duty to remove the world of them.
Yet with all the excitement you held and the care toward a being that had just tried to destroy you, it made him pause for a moment to ponder if he was to destroy you too. Even in your most miserable moments would you be able to shine as brightly? The thought didn't stay for long, after all everything in this universe was a mistake. The universe itself should've never have been created and everything in it was as putrid as the next, only choosing to hide behind rosy colors.
Nanook nonchalantly brushed his hand to the side, hitting you with it, yet the moment it touched you his hand was unable to move any further. His gaze lowered again, resting on you. You seemed entirely undisturbed and was still looking at him in awe and wonder. He doubted you were another Aeon, you had no presence at all-- but you weren't effected by his.
Eyes full of molten lava narrowed as they focused in on you. For once, lacking the intent to harm he moved his hand to push you slightly to the side. You moved, stumbling a bit. Nanook's heart leapt a beat.
Oh. Oh. Civilization only brought war with it, as everything within the universe was a mistake. But perhaps, this was the universe's sole purpose, this being was supposed to exist. The notion sickened him, it went against his entire core. The creation of the universe was a mistake thus it must all be destroyed, it never should've happened. Maybe, another universe was supposed to be created and you were from that. A being that shouldn't and couldn't be destroyed, this was the only possibility. An anomaly in the world of mistakes.
Nanook couldn't offer to protect you, all he knew was to destroy. But he had to say something. This universe still had to be destroyed to the point nothing remained and neither Terminus nor Oroboros would have claim to it. You had to leave, before the end tried to swallow you whole. As the one being that shouldn't be destroyed he had to stop it from happening to you. Yet as he looked back nothing remained.
...So it seems you weren't entirely powerless. That was good, but it would make it more difficult for Nanook. He had to find you again, he was already racing against time.
You woke up feeling unusually tired. Must've not gotten a good night's rest, you mused to yourself. Yet you'd had a sick dream! A smile rose to your face at the thought. You'd met Nanook, the sick ass dude from Honkai Star Rail! Man, the majesty of Aeons was still portrayed in your dreams Hoyoverse's design team did such a good job! You felt so small next to him, well you were, you were about the size of his hand.
That didn't matter now though, you had work/school to get to! Places to go, people to see, things to get done! You wanted to go back to sleep.
Unfortunately, you didn't go back to sleep but on the bright side you persevered through the day! So, dragging your limbs behind you, you headed back to bed hoping to get a more restful sleep.
When you woke up, you found yourself surrounded by snow. It surrounded you like a fluffy blanket and muffled the noise around you, even with the snow you could still hear the sound of yelling. Oh neat, another hyper realistic dream. For some reason you'd always known when your dreams were dreams and you tended to dream of whatever your newest fictional obsession was.
It was nice until it wasn't. You supposed that you must've spent too much time dreaming up the fictional characters to the point you forget their original personalities. They would tend to act weird as you continued dreaming about them, which would lead you to drop the series entirely. It'd happened an unfortunate amount of times.
Hopefully, something similar wouldn't happen this time. You enjoyed these kinds of dreams where you could just observe the beauty of fiction.
You pushed yourself up from the snow, feeling your hand and feet sink slightly in the snow from the pressure you applied. If this followed the same pattern as the last dream then you were at Jarilo-VI. But where were you? There wasn't any discernible structure around you, there weren't even any fragmentum monsters. It was just snow.
Well at least you weren't able to die in your dreams. You knew that one from experience, although the experience of getting set on fire wasn't exactly pleasant. Actually it was kind of traumatizing even though it was a dream.
That being said getting dream hypothermia didn't seem pleasant so you began to wander in hopes that you would soon come across something.
To be continued when I figure out which Jarilo-VI character I want to write.

Chapter 14: Time's Ticking
You and Dan Heng are a match made in heaven until fate takes him away from you too soon. Years later, you think you moved on with a mutual friend who shared your grief and stuck with you during tough times until you meet a mysterious man with a striking resemblance to your past lover and a hidden motive. You’re determined to get rid of him, but how are you going to get rid of a god?

It’s been a few days since the strange text, and you aren’t sure whether to be relieved or nervous that’s all you received. Normally, you’d pass this off as a joke or an accidental text, but considering the circumstances, you just can’t. You’ve tried everything: texting back, tracing it, and alerting the police. But all you discover is that the number no longer exists, which makes you wonder if this is the work of magic.
Is it from Lan? Nanook? You doubt it. Why bother with a text when you've already met Lan? So, a sick prank from Childe, maybe? Or, is it the mystery man behind Lan and Nanook? The questions drive you crazy, and you wonder if this is the motive behind this ridiculous text. Once you've exhausted your options in figuring out this mysterious number, Dan Feng suggested something that caught everyone's attention at Bailu's apartment yesterday night.
"If Furina exists, it's safe to say that The Great Purge failed," Dan Feng said. "She wouldn't have managed to live this long."
Bailu sighed. "You know... I've been thinking. The mystery person behind Lan and Nanook's escape. What are they, exactly? A god? Someone like Furina?"
"Whoever they are, they knew about the teleporter," Neuvilette said. "That much is for sure."
"I think it's safe to say that they're behind this psychological game," Dan Feng said, nodding to your phone. "They're using magic, which means they found a way to wield it."
"But, couldn't they be like us?" Bailu mused. "They keep using magic until their power is completely gone?"
"Then, they should know how valuable it is to save their magic. Why would they use it on this?" Zhongli asked. "If we are assuming that Lan and Nanook are supposed to be doing the dirty work."
Neuvilette exhaled softly. "Perhaps they are like Furina. However, that wouldn't make sense either as we haven't seen her wield magic. She may have wrote The Book of Curses and lived for an abnormally long time, but that's about it."
You lean back on the couch. "Here's another thought. Who's to say other people didn't know about The Great Purge before it happened?"
Dan Feng briefly closed his eyes and nodded. “True.”
After a short silence, Neuvilette said:
“I suppose the question is... What caused The Great Purge to fail?"
"That's a loaded question," Bailu said. "Like... Where are we going to start?"
“Perhaps the place where we performed the ritual,” Dan Feng said. “The place where The Great Purge first started.” A pause. “My old home.”
You’re working at the office today while Dan Feng takes a little adventure back to the palace. Despite looking at your laptop screen, your attention is on your phone, hoping you’ll get an update in the group chat you share with the dragon gang.
A co-worker taps your desk, and you immediately look up. "He wants to see you now."
You got the message this morning that the team is getting a new temporary leader who’ll be supervising the group and the project’s progress. You don’t know much except that it’s a man, and he wants to meet the group members individually when he arrives later in the day.
You head upstairs, walking past busy-looking employees until reaching the quiet corridor. You aren’t sure why, but the closer you get to his office, you feel uneasy.
You knock once, and immediately a voice says:
“Come in.” You open the door and see a man with long dark blue hair with red tips and red eyes. He gestures for you to take the empty seat in front of him. “Take a seat.” So, you do, and he introduces himself as Yingxing.
“I… think we’ve met before,” you say, a little skeptically.
You’re trying to remember why he looks familiar when he says:
“Has Dan Feng mentioned me?” Your heart almost drops to your stomach. Dan Feng? How does he know about Dan Feng? He picks up on your confusion and slightly smiles. “Some people know me as Blade.”
Should you feign ignorance?
“Interesting name,” you finally say. “Why the alias?”
“Yingxing is a more fitting name for this generation, but you can call me whatever you feel most comfortable with.” His elbow is on the armrest, and you don't like the look in his eyes. It's as if he's studying you. "Dan Feng is looking for the Aeons, is he not?" He slightly leans closer. “Or, is he looking for you?”
Unfazed, you give him a deadpan look.
“I’m getting tired of explaining that I’m not someone from the past. How do you know about me?”
“I know he's secretly looking for the woman who betrayed him. He’s never admitted it, but I know he wants answers. And... you say you're not someone from the past, but it's telling me otherwise."
You narrow your eyes. "What's telling you otherwise?"
“I am not supposed to exist,” Blade says sternly. “When The Great Purge happened, it was supposed to rid magic from the world. But something went wrong.” A slight pause. “I would think you know about The Great Purge.”
“I do. I also know that you were the one who told Furina to write The Book of Curses." You cross your arms. "If anything went wrong, I would suspect you had something to do with it.”
“A bold accusation, but I suppose it’s logical.” You almost roll your eyes. “But it wasn’t me. I never wanted immortality.”
"...So, you're like Furina. You never died? You just continued to exist?"
Blade almost chuckles. "Ah, so you know that much already." Then, his expression turns stoic. "Immortality is possible if you know the right people." Right people…? “There’s only so much you can accomplish without external resources.”
“What do you want?” you ask. “You say you’re here because someone granted you immortality. Do you think it’s Dan Feng? Is that why you're asking about him?”
“I’d like some answers.”
“How are you so sure he’s the one responsible?”
“You sure have a lot of trust in him. I don’t know whether to call you courageous or foolish. If you are the reincarnation of the woman he hates… he’ll kill you.”
“I’m not,” you say bitterly. “So, you don’t have to worry about that.”
“So you say.” Blade leans back, and his eyes land on your necklace. “Who gave that to you?”
“Why do you ask?”
“You asked me earlier what's telling me you're someone from the past." He points to your necklace with his pen. "There's your answer."

Pierro is working in his office when he gets a call. He reaches for the phone and hears his receptionist’s voice on the other end.
“You have a visitor.”
“I’m not expecting anyone today,” Pierro says. “Whoever it is can wait.”
“Are you sure, Sir? Tsaritsa is here to see you, and…” Pierro hears some muffled conversation. “She won’t take no for an answer.”
Pierro shuts off his monitor screen. “All right.”
It’s not like he has a choice.
Tsaritsa arrives shortly after in her familiar dark blue dress. Her hair, tucked behind her ears, is pulled back into a fancy braid, and her makeup is uncharacteristically bold with a dark red lip and gold smokey eyeshadow.
“I thought the event would keep you until late,” Pierro says, gesturing for her to sit on the sofa. He stands and walks to a long table near the large window. “Coffee? Tea?”
“I finished reading the diary,” Tsaritsa says. Pierro, who’s pouring himself coffee, stops halfway and puts the decanter back in its place. “And I want to know more about the woman your ancestor mentioned… Idrila.”
Pierro turns around with his cup. “That impatient, huh? It can’t wait until later?” When she says nothing, he finds her silence a little suspicious. He turns around, pours her a coffee, and says, “Well, I don’t know how much I can tell you. I’ve never met her, obviously.”
Tsaritsa coughs, and he doesn’t think much about it until it starts sounding a little violent. Pierro turns around holding two cups of coffee and sees her hunched over with her hand over her chest. But what almost makes him drop the cups is when he sees blood on her hand. He quickly puts them down.
“Hey,” he says, running over to her side. “Are you okay?” He puts a hand on her back. “Did you take your meds?”
“I’m fine,” she says calmly, reaching over to grab a tissue. She puts it to her mouth and straightens up. “...I’m fine.”
Pierro, one of the few who knows Tsaritsa has more than just a weak body, still looks worried. “Are you sure? Have you been taking your medication?”
Tsaritsa looks at him, a look that screams that he’s asking the wrong questions. “I said I'm fine, Pierro."
Pierro frowns. “I’ve noticed, you know. You’ve been coughing a lot more, and your fatigue is getting the best of you. I wouldn’t be surprised if the others are picking up that something is wrong.” He sighs. “Have you been seeing your doc—”
“Why do you think I’m here?” Her question takes him by surprise. “I know it’s getting worse.” She sighs to compose herself.  “But, you and I both know there is no cure.”
It was late at night, and Nanook was heading back to his room in the mansion when he saw the door of Tsaritsa's room ajar. As he got closer, he heard her cough. Once. Twice. And…
He stopped and peeked inside.
Tsaritsa was standing, hunched over her table. An old-looking open journal was off to the side. Nanook quietly opened the door, not wanting to startle her, but then he saw the blood on the table.
“You’re getting worse," he said. Before Tsaritsa could react, Nanook was already by her side. “It’s escalating.”
Tsaritsa's hand groped for the drawer as she took a breath. Finally, she got it open, and her hand shakily took out some pills. When she had trouble opening the bottle, Nanook helped her and watched her down two pills.
“...I’m fine.”
“Really?” Nanook asked, not convinced. He glanced at the blood. “This says otherwise.”
“What are you doing here?” She grabbed the journal and closed it. Nanook realized it was the journal from Pierro. “It’s late.”
“Well, I heard you coughing, and”—he looked at the blood—”do I need to say more?”
“It’s nothing,” she answered calmly. “I’m getting better.” Then, she put a hand on top of the journal. “You knew Pierro’s ancestor, didn’t you?”
Nanook slides a hand inside his pocket. “So, that old geezer mentioned me after all. Should’ve known.”
“This woman that you and Lan were so fond of…” Tsaritsa faced him. “Idrila. She was sick, and after she poisoned herself to end her suffering, both of you wanted to bring her back to life.”
“Why are you so curious?” Nanook asked skeptically. “I thought what you wanted from that journal was to learn more about that pretty boy so we can get rid of him.”
“And I did learn something,” she answered. “But, this is my first time hearing about another woman.”
Nanook scoffed. “You sound like an obsessive ex.”
Tsaritsa suddenly grabbed him by the throat, but Nanook didn’t flinch. “Let’s stop playing games, shall we? Regardless of your reasons for staying in the human realm, I kept you around because you promised me one thing… You could find a cure.”
“And I haven’t stopped looking.”
“The sickness that Idrila had… She began coughing blood in its early stages.”
Now, Pierro understands.
“You don’t…” he begins. “Are you saying you have the same illness as her? That’s ridiculous! If what the journal says is true, it wasn't normal.”
“Wouldn’t that explain my circumstances?” Tsaritsa asks bitterly. “You’ve been with me since the beginning, Pierro. You, out of all people, should know how many times I’ve been told ‘I’m sorry… I wish we can do more.’”
“But that doesn’t mean it’s magic.”
The silence drags on… and on… and on.
“It’s because of Lan and Nanook, is it not?” Pierro asks. “Because of who they are and what they did, it feels like anything and everything can be explained because of magic. I know you want an explanation. I would, too. But this isn’t healthy.” He sits next to her and puts an arm around her shoulders. “We’ll get through this together.”
Will they, really? Tsaritsa has her doubts. Still, she knows Pierro means well unlike the others she met in her life.
She never knew her birth parents. Those at the orphanage never told her much about them either. It was a rainy night when they found Tsaritsa wrapped in a blanket in a large basket at the entrance of the orphanage. So, her childhood memories were with the kids who accepted her despite her weak body. But that didn't make life any easier as she watched them leave for loving homes. Pierro was the first. Arlecchino was the second, and Columbina was the third.
“Oh, I wish we could adopt her, but you see, we’re looking for…”
Tsaritsa believed she heard it all. Every single excuse one could think of for not wanting her, and all of them were about her condition. So, when a family decided to adopt her, she was over the moon until she discovered the truth.
“Is she asleep?”
No, Tsaritsa wasn’t. She was upstairs with a perfect view of her adopted parents in the living room below. But, they couldn’t see her as it was dark, and she blended in with the darkness.
“Yes,” her mother answered.
Her father sighed. “We… should’ve waited. Don’t you think? If we found out sooner you were pregnant, we wouldn’t have this problem.”
“Oh, it’s a little harsh to call it a problem, right? We were told that I couldn’t get pregnant… So, this should be a great surprise. Besides, Tsaritsa is a good kid for her age.”
“But, I’m thinking about the future. Now that we’ll have a child, I would like them to take over our business.”
“And… What about Tsaritsa?”
“I… I don’t want to assume the worst,” her father said. “But, will she live long enough to see the day?”
And since then, before Dan Heng’s mother was even born, Tsaritsa already hated her. But not as much as she hated her adopted father.
“You say it can’t be magic,” Tsaritsa says. “But do I need to remind you that it still exists? Lan, Nanook, and Dan Feng’s existence is enough proof.” She turns to Pierro. “Idrila was born with a weak body, but her condition was purposely made worse.”
“That doesn’t explain how you could’ve gotten it,” Pierro says.
“Did you read until the end?” Tsaritsa asks. “Before she died… She had a child.”
Pierro’s face goes pale.
◆◆◆
Bailu arrives at one of the largest hospitals in the city. She has her hands on her hips as she stares in pride that the hospital she helped to get off the ground is still doing well.
Despite being born with a condition that stunted her physical growth, Bailu easily soared above her classmates in terms of knowledge and talent. She was only ten years old when she graduated from one of the most elite universities in the nation and after two years of work experience in the field, she entered medical school. Graduating early, she had many great job opportunities but chose a small clinic, Bubu Pharmacy, that was just starting to get off the ground. With only two employees, Bailu was attracted to the idea of building something big from scratch. And it wasn’t until she brought someone back to life that Bubu Pharmacy completely changed.
It was a slow and rainy day, and Bailu was enjoying her usual conversation with her co-workers, Herbalist Gui and Baizhu when someone entered. As soon as they heard the bell, they spun around, shocked to see a drenched woman carrying a bleeding, young girl on her back.
“Please…” the woman muttered. She would’ve fallen to the floor if Baizhu hadn’t caught her. “Please help my daughter.”
“Y-You need a hospital!” Herbalist Gui said, a little shaken.
“There’s no time for that,” Bailu said, examining the young girl. “She’s… She’s already dying.”
The woman grabbed Bailu’s arm. “Please… Please save her.”
Bailu remembers the day like it was yesterday. The woman and the young girl were victims of a hit-and-run, and they wouldn’t have survived. Yet, the young girl did, and while it was thanks to Bailu, she didn’t like to mention it… as she took the woman’s life to save her.
“Did it…” Herbalist Gui said quietly, his eyes wide. “Did it work?”
The young girl and the woman were lying next to each other on a large table. Bailu stood on one side while Baizhu stood on the opposite.
“Bailu,” Baizhu said, and she looked up at the young girl. “You’re shaking.”
Bailu looked at her gloved hand covered in blood. It was true.
Suddenly, a painful groan grabbed everyone’s attention. Bailu almost gasped as the young girl’s eyes fluttered open.
“Wh… Where am I?”
“Oh, my God…” Herbalist Gui muttered. “She’s… She’s alive!” He looked at Bailu. “You did it!”
Except, Bailu wasn’t sure what to feel.
The young girl, confused and disoriented, finally saw her mother next to her. “M-Mom…!” She held her hand, and Baizhu saw the moment her heart dropped to her stomach. “You’re… You’re so cold.” She looked at the worried faces around her. “Who are you? Why is my mother—”
“She’s gone.”
No one expected Bailu to be so direct. Not even herself.
“She’s gone…?” the young girl repeated, and her voice barely above a whisper. “What do you mean she’s gone?”
“She gave up her life… to save yours.”
“No… That’s…” She looked from Bailu to her lifeless mother. “That’s impossible. You can’t—”
“That’s what we thought,” Bailu interrupted. “But you… You’re living proof.”
“This is huge,” Baizhu said quietly. “I never thought this could be possible.”
“How?” the young girl asked, her fists clenched. “If what you said is true, how did you do it?”
Bailu never thought she’d say it, and it felt more surreal after she did.
“Magic.”
They soon learned that the girl was named Qiqi, and with no other relatives, Bailu, Baizhu, and Herbalist Gui took her in and treated her as one of their own. But it wasn't long before they realized that transferring her mother's life to hers had consequences. Qiqi had stopped ageing, and she was physically stuck as a child. This had grabbed the attention of the locals and the media, and soon, Bailu was being pulled in all sorts of directions to research this strange phenomenon.
But Bailu had made one thing clear: She didn't want to do it again. She knew that Qiqi and her mother were supposed to die that night, but she played with fate at the desperate request of Qiqi's mother and won with conflicting feelings. By now, only a few individuals had access to developmental research about magic. Bailu was one of them. But instead of researching more about taking someone's life to give to another, she followed her interests in immunity and immortality, hoping that no one would ever have to give their life to save another again.
Despite times changing, Bailu is happy that Bubu Pharmacy—now Bubu Hospital—still retained its traditional look and feel. Baizhu, Herbalist Gui, and Qiqi would be happy knowing that Bubu Hospital is alive and well. As Bailu takes the elevator to the uppermost floor, she walks down the quiet corridor, not wanting to reminisce about the past… again. She has done it far too many times, knowing it doesn’t make the pain of losing them any easier.
She also doesn't want to remind herself that losing them has made her a murderer.
“Tsaritsa? Is that her name?”
Bailu stops. Did she hear that correctly? She takes a few steps back and peeks into the room. A man with long blonde hair sits with one leg crossed over the other in a chair. But it’s the man standing that grabs Bailu’s attention.
It’s him. It’s Nanook.
“I have reason to believe she’s Idrila’s descendant,” he says. “And you… You were her doctor, were you not, Luocha?”
Luocha? Why does that name sound so familiar?
It was a slow day for Bubu Pharmacy, so Bailu spent it working on her research. Baizhu was in the room next to hers, and he hadn’t come out since she saw him walk in this morning. Curious about what he was up to, Bailu left the room, saw Herbalist Gui and Qiqi attending to a couple of customers, and then softly knocked on Baizhu’s door.
“It’s open.”
Bailu opened the door and peeked inside. “Whatcha workin’ on?”
“Oh, you know…” Baizhu sighed, his eyes still on some experimental equipment on his table. “I don’t know if you heard… but the princess of the nation developed a strange illness.”
“I’ve heard bits and pieces, but not entirely sure what it is she got.”
“It’s supposed to be confidential,” Baizhu said. “They don’t want to cause any unnecessary panic.”
“Figures,” Bailu muttered.
“But, as much as they want it to be confidential, we won’t get anywhere if we don’t share information.”
“She’s losing blood, isn’t she?”
“Rather than losing, it’d be more accurate to say something is draining her blood,” Baizhu said, and Bailu raised a brow. “They say it’s because of a spy from the neighbouring nation.”
Bailu wasn’t surprised that those in power would want to direct the blame to others, and what better scapegoat to use than their biggest enemy nation? As she never liked those in power, she never bothered with remembering names or faces. Leaders were all the same. Greedy. Power-hungry. Two-faced.
“Do they want you to use magic to cure her?” Bailu asked.
“Well… That’s the thing,” Baizhu said quietly. “There’s no magic that can. Not right now, at least. Perhaps it also has its limitations or more research needs to be done.”
“Huh… How interesting that not even magic can provide a solution.”
“They’re bringing in another doctor to see if he can provide some insight,” Baizhu said. “I’m meeting with him tomorrow.
“Really? Who?”
“Someone named Luocha.”
“How long are you going to keep standing there?” Luocha’s green eyes meet hers through the crack in the door. “You’re welcome to come in.
The door suddenly slides open.
“Well, well, well,” Nanook says with a small grin. “Look who it is.”
Chapter 15
End notes:
And the mystery deepens...
I promise to make the timeline a little clearer lmao. But, for now, Bailu and Dan Feng would've been human in the same time period but Bailu "died" before the invasion happened. For some reason, this chapter was kinda difficult to write. Regardless, I hope you enjoyed learning more about Tsaritsa and Bailu. And damn this chapter was hard to name lol.

I was reading all the lore books of the Xianzhou for fic research and one volume in particular, Glimpses into the beyond, has my brain running circles, so why not share my notes
It's a manuscript written by Fu Xuan, touching on divination and Aeons
I loved this quote: "Humans walk the Paths, while stars cross the sky: Observing these situations can produce future predictions. All of this is based on the diviner's ascertainment of the present situation (or the past, because the present is constantly becoming the past)."
Implied that diviners must stay constantly in tune with the present lest they loose their footings
Mentions the founder of the Divination Commission, a master Xuan Yao, who said "Only the universe and the Aeons cannot be foretold."
Fu Xuan writes that the universe birthed the Aeons, not vice versa.
She further writes that omniscience is unattainable
While writing about the Yaoshi, she brings up the fact that any attempt to divine the Abundance's future is an unforgiveable felony onboard the Xianzhou. Any attempt to do so can be lethal for the diviner, and if they survive, they will face the full wrath of the Ten Lords Commission. (The other Aeons are kind of forbidden to divine, but the punishment is less severe and may even be suspended.)
She mentions that hubris often strikes diviners during their first 100 years on the job; likely implication being that she has been doing it for at the barest of minimums that time, and more probable way longer?
The rest of Fu Xuan's observations are musings on the nature of Aeons and relate a lot to the future of the Xianzhou:
Sorting of the Aeons into three categories, which the Xianzhou still uses:
"Arbiters: Determining mortal births and deaths, which are highly connected to the rise and fall of civilizations." Lan, Qlipoth.
"The Sacrosancts: Difficult to predict as good or evil; often unable to even know where they head for." Nous, Akivili, Aha, Idrila.
"The Authors of Calamity: The main culprit behind all disasters. Avoid, or be annihilated." Yaoshi, Nanook, Tayzzyronth.
Lan appeared in Year 3400 Star Calendar, and ever since the Divination Commission monitors and interprets what Lan's arrows mean.
Fu Xuan muses that while Qlipoth themselves strives for isolation between worlds with no contact, IPC, their foremost faction, facilitates contact and trade between worlds seemingly without drawing the ire of Qlipoth at all.
When the Xianzhou fleet set sail they witnessed Qlipoth's Echidna Skywall that seperates the worlds from the void.
Fu Xuan herself has seen Nous, the machine-like Aeon. "Contrary to standard thinking, Nous is not a god that provides solutions. On the contrary, all they offer is an infinite number of questions." Overall she speaks very highly of Nous and encourages diviners to take after them.
Akivili is shrouded in legends, but Fu Xuan mentions that both the IPC and Xianzhou fleet navigate space by the star rail ("chromatic echelons").
Deems Aha to be the Aeon closest to mortals, mentioning how Aha's followers instigated a riot that ended with a troll virus being spread in the local robot army.
While Idrila is fallen, it's implied that through gathering and using the relics left behind, they might come back.
This quote is just fascinating in the implications of Idrila: "According to ancient myth, Idrila once attributed the beauty of all the starzones to themselves, showing heroes, villains, and mortals the meaning and aesthetics contained within the cosmic landscape, and driving them to complete astonishing (but often devastating) achievements for Idrila's own pleasure. This myth may reveal the true meaning behind the Path of Beauty: The integration of consciousness, insight, and values."
There is some strange and remote connection between the Yaoshi and the Xianzhou people, apparently, one that physics cannot yet explain.
Nanook is the most recently ascended Aeon. Fu Xuan muses that the followers of Nanook are becoming an increasing problem, the fleet has lost contact with many worlds ravaged by the Antimatter Legion, and that in the near future it's likely they will have to face Nanook's forces.
Tayzzyronth, while dead, still has seeded worlds which in turn become hellscapes if not destroyed. Also their scions are still alive, and there are scholar theories that they can come back at any time.
Fu Xuan once inspected a piece of amber that was a piece from the "Imperator Insectorum's Prison Cell." The omniscia implanted in my forehead could not see the future of this item, which only serves to corroborate the scholar's claims. All I can do is pray in silence to the Reignbow that such a day will not come soon.

Musings on the anomaly of Main Character (or might they be Akivili's remains?)
Huge spoilers warning for the HSR story quest!
At the beginning of HSR story, the Main Character woke up after being planted a Stellaron inside their body, before they were known as "receptacle". But does the MC body was actually intended to contain Stellaron since the very beginning?
As a creation of Nanook the Aeon of Destruction, the Stellaron, or also the Cancer of All World, is the seed of disaster that will lead to destruction. By this point in the story, we already see how Stellaron almost destroy Jarilo-IV and Xianzhou Luofu. For Cocolia, only exposed to their presence cause insanity in her, on top of extreme climate change in her planet. In Xianzhou Luofu, it caused the Ambrosial Arbor to grow back despite having pruned by Lan the Aeon of the Hunt. So for a body to be able to contain a Stellaron and somehow stabilize it, it must be an extraordinary one.
Herta is a genius studying the Aeons, as we can see from her Simulated Universe. She is even recognized by Nous, who presides over the path of Erudition. If by chance she got her hand on the remains of a (presumed) dead Aeon, then experimented on it so it can contain something as dangerous as Stellaron, then I wouldn't put it past her (if by chance this is the case, then she might be being secretive or she doesn't know if the receptacle is the remains of dead Aeon).
Tumblr media
Akivili the Trailblaze is the Aeon that presides the Trailblaze path. They created the rail path and the Astral Express to connect worlds. Akivili left his home world Pegana trying to find the endpoint of Tree of Existence, however they died because of an unknown "accident". It was very intriguing since Kafka mentioned that there are three ways that an Aeon can disappear, or killed: being conquered by overlapping path, war with other Aeon, and the third mysterious way currently unknown.
There's a theory that Akivili's heart might be implanted in the Astal Express engine, but Himeko never found it despite had dedicated years to fix the train.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when we enter the Simulated Universe, as we met one Aeon by another, they greet us as Akivili - this might be because we join the Nameless, but what if they actually feel that the player's presence is similar to Akivili's.
Besides those, one of the most interesting things that Kafka told the MC is that among the things that Elio saw in our future is that how we are fated to go against Nanook the Aeon of Destruction; the creator of the Stellarons. But just like Lan the Hunt warring against Yaoshi the Abundance, shouldn't the one who can go against Aeon is another Aeon? So either way, the fate that is implied for MC is to be elevated into one of the Aeons; or if MC is actually Akivili since the beginning, they would regain their power?
(What if Akivili's incident that caused their disappearance was caused by Nanook? Because for something as powerful and as Astral Express and its rail system, it would take massive power to take it out. What if this wass caused by the creation of Stellarons? After all, it seems that Stellaron came into creation after the Astral Express and its rail system was created. If Stellaron had existed before the Astral Express, wouldn't Akivili have created some kind of precaution system to get around Stellaron's disturbance? This would explain why MC is fated to fight against Nanook in the future).
Trailblaze is the path that Akivili presided, connecting one world to another. So what would you call a path that trailblaze a Path to another Path?

Ophelia's Introduction —✧
"A former Lord Ravager who, upon being defeated in combat by Ambrose, was spared and given a new name. She has since become the Emanator's reserved and considerably intimidating travel companion."
◆ Name: Ophelia ◆ Gender & Pronouns: Female (she/her) ◆ Age: ??? ◆ Faction: The Antimatter Legion (formerly), none (currently) ◆ Path: Destruction ◆ Type: Fire
Tumblr media
Mercy, as a concept, was one that Ophelia lived by.
...At least, her version of mercy was the unique philosophy she lived by.
During her days as a Lord Ravager of the Anrimatter Legion, Ophelia—then known by another name—believed that humanity was inherently vile, and that the greatest mercy she could bestow upon to save them from their evil was the destruction of their societies.
...But upon being defeated by Ambrose, the Aeon Yaoshi's beloved angel, she was surprised and quite appalled to find that their concepts of mercy were very different.
"I am sorry that the universe has been so cruel to you thus far," Ambrose had said, tender hands brushing the hair from Ophelia's face as she huffed and glared upwards. As the Destruction's power drained from their body, so too did her ability to maintain a more intimidating form, leaving her... like this, in the young body that she had initially emerged from Warforge in. Ophelia vaguely mused to herself over how much her body had changed since that time... she had barely even noticed, but it was all too blatant now. How utterly weak she must have looked to Ambrose in that moment. "You did not deserve to suffer, darling child."
"Kill me, then. Spare me further suffering."
The Emanator paused, dazed blue eyes flicking across her tired face. Then, they smiled. Kindly, too kindly, it made Ophelia utterly sick. "But then you will not have the chance to experience the beauty of life. No, little one... I have never been that kind of person. I will not kill you. I will not take away your birthright to live, and live at peace."
"Are you mocking me?" she demanded, nails digging into the dirt beneath her. "Ugh... to be patronized by one of Yaoshi's children, the Destruction's antithesis... how annoying. Spare me your insufferable pity."
Nothing but her life was spared, unfortunately.
Even now, as Ophelia wearily glances over at the Emanator of Abundance that she was cursed with traveling with, she still thinks that Ambrose was pitying her. The mercy they extended was rooted in nothing other than pity and compassion.
...But maybe that was fine.
She doubts Nanook would take her back, anyway, so it wasn't as if she had anywhere else to go.
Tumblr media
PERSONALITY
◆ Irritable, moody, and harsh are among the few words that come to mind when a person who knows Ophelia is asked about her. She is, to be frank, the polar opposite of the one who saved her. Despite being trapped in the body of a child aged no older than seventeen or eighteen, she has the stare of something ancient, piercing deep into the skin of those unfortunate enough to be at the receiving end of it. If Ambrose is seen as the gentle, inviting kiss of foamy waves crashing on the shoreline and against one's body at sunset, then Ophelia may very well be the violent and swirling nighttime waves that swallow unsuspecting victims who get too close... more or less, since Ambrose has forbid her from killing unnecessarily. Despite being perhaps childishly moody at times, Ophelia has been known to have moments of frightening calmness, clarity, and wisdom beyond the years of her physical body. It is at those times during which all those around her are forced to remember just what she once was—a Lord Ravager, immortal, all-powerful, and unconstrained by the limits of known physics. Though many of her former powers have been taken away from her, having been rescinded at the very same the moment that her emanatorship was, she still retains some semblance of the divine bringer of destruction she once was.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, whoever did this to you was an idiot.
It was one thing to antagonize the lover of the Destruction. It was another to physically hurt them.
So either your assaulter had a death wish, or a severe deficit in braincells. Although, you weren't too keen on the idea of just running to your lover - knowing them, Nanook would break all of hell loose, giving them a fate worse than death itself.
You sighed to yourself as you rubbed at your cheek, which had already begun to bruise. Thankfully, you weren't hurt too bad, so you could probably just brush it off with a few bandages and ointment. All you had to do was to hope that Nanook wasn't home today.
But of course, fate wasn't on your side.
The second you opened the door to your shared room with the Aeon, what greeted you was a sight of Nanook in their mortal form, lounging on the bed. They weren't doing anything in particular, simply staring up off into space as golden specks flickered around them like fireflies.
Their eyes flicked to you the moment you walked through the doorway. Slowly, their gaze roamed your body, zeroing in on your injuries - evidence of a fight.
Their expression barely changed, save for the slightest narrowing of their eyes. But the atmosphere immediately dampened, as though a black hole had came and sucked all of the air out of the room. The pressure dropped so quickly that your ears popped, and you winced.
Noticing your discomfort, Nanook immediately snapped out of their momentary rage, and the air went back to normal - only slightly, though.
Wordlessly, they beckoned you towards them with a finger, their right arm open for you. Cautiously, you sat down on the bed, allowing Nanook to wrap their arm around you and pull you close.
They studied your bruise carefully, running their finger across it. Swiping their thumb against it, a bit of their power seeped into you, instantly mending your wound.
"Healed by the Destruction," you couldn't help but muse, leaning your head against their broad shoulder. "How ironic. Aren't all Aeons bound their Paths?"
Nanook only hummed, a deep rumbling in their chest. "I've strayed from my Path twice before. The first was when I fell for you. The second is now. Clearly, the laws of the universe are not as rigid as you make them out to be."
"I guess," you shrugged, closing your eyes. Nanook doesn't breathe, nor do they have a heartbeat, but they are warm. Warmer than a human, more like a flame, if anything. "You're not going to ask who did it?"
"I already know," they merely replied. You couldn't help but feel as though their gaze was quite literally burning into your skin as they stared down at you. "I will take care of them, do not worry."
"Don't overdo it," you sighed, shifting into a comfortable position. "The last time you went after someone who hurt me, you destroyed an entire planet."
"I was killing two birds with one stone," they explained matter-of-factly. You laughed, squinting your eyes at them.
"Mmm, I suppose you were," you admitted. Nanook only smiled briefly before poking your nose.
"You should get go wash up," they advised. "You're filthy."
"Gee, thanks," you scoffed, but stood up regardless. You stretched for a bit, rolling out your shoulders before kissing Nanook on the cheek, and then you were off to the bathroom.
But as you closed shower door, and the Aeon heard water running, Nanook's gaze darkened. They dissipated into golden sparks, the only thing that hinted at their existence being a divot in the bed where they had once laid.
That night, as you peacefully rested, unaware of what was happening, your attacker awoke to flames - dark, dark flames devouring their home world as the Destruction watched from afar, the burning planet resting in their dark hand.

Before I suggest anything, I'm reminding you that all the muses that I've suggested to you have ended up on your muse list ndkdkfj
That being said I think you should try at an Aeon. I could see you writing Nanook tbh or Lan. Also I think you would have a lot of fun with Duke Inferno. In terms of genshin I'm almost certain you're already making space for the new boy but also I could see you having fun with Arlecchino.
send canon characters you think i could write
Tumblr media
this is exactly why i said this meme is dangerous-
not gonna lie, i have been Tempted by nanook >_> and i think it'd be interesting to try my hand at an aeon level character. hmmmm..... i shall Think on this one
and yes, i am 100% making space for the new boy bc i am so very, very weak. arle isn't one i've ever thought about before but..... maybe..........

i didn't feel like formatting this one so....... 🙏🙏🙏 ambrose enjoyers, here is a random unformatted minimal dialogue drabble of yaoshi being an attentive parent and easing ambrose through an episode of mara 🫶 i love writing about characters who have said less than ten lines canonically fr /lh
Tumblr media
a thick, impenetrable haze had settled in ambrose's mind.
it happened sometimes, generally after injuries or stressful encounters; they weren't unfamiliar with it, and if they really focused on it, really thought about what may have caused the hazy episode, they could feel a dull, pulsating throb in their side. that was undoubtedly what had caused them to fall into such a poor state. a nasty hit from one of the anitmatter legion's elites... right. they'd almost forgotten about the encounter, really. they were somewhat surprised by the fact that it still hadn't healed. it should have. the child of abundance themselves should have healed by now.
a scalding, burning sense of frustration boiled in their chest. the destruction, damn the destruction—how could nanook be so careless? how could they stand to live with themselves, knowing the kind of pain and suffering they have plagued the universe with?
(some would say the same about yaoshi. the thought only made ambrose's blood boil further.)
nanook, nanook, what a vile aeon...
the gentle drag of nails on their cheek lovingly guided their mind back to where it should have been—far away from the festering fury and unrest.
to be so angry was unbefitting of the child of abundance.
(although...
would it be unbefitting for them to have an abundance of rage, just as they do love? there was no clear answer. it didn't matter, because that rage was not a product of them, but a product of the mara they suffered from.
they were not an angry person. they sincerely weren't.)
newfound peace bloomed in their chest. the fog thinned slightly, and they subconsciously leaned towards the source of their respite.
two of yaoshi's hands reached out to cup ambrose's face, a fond coo dancing on their lips as they observed their child and the way they immediately sought out the aeon's comfort the second it was offerred to them. ambrose looked as if they were about to cry.
'poor thing,' yaoshi mused, thumbs brushing away the beginnings of tears pricking at their emanator's tired eyes. still... a little smile pulled at their lips. they couldn't help but squish ambrose's cheeks ever so slightly. such a delicate little thing ambrose was.
(of course, the child of abundance noticed. it made them pout a little. they almost wanted to tell the aeon to take them seriously! they really weren't some defenseless, scared little kid with separation anxiety anymore. they had long since gotten over it!
...
they also noticed, however, that yaoshi's fond attention was dulling their pain, so they supposed it was tolerable to be cooed at...)
the aeon wondered how it was possible for a single being to be so unbelievably cute, so unbelievably fragile in their hands. perhaps this was how mortal parents felt towards their own children—an indescribable warmth towards their fragile and weak offspring, an unearthly pull, some comeplling need to tend to the needs of their children.
then again, perhaps not.
the intricacies and complexities of immortal bonds were far too complicated to be put into mortal terms. the lord of longevity's feelings could not be described in such a simple way.
ambrose sniffled, fingers gingerly clasping onto yaoshi's wrists. the aeon took that as their sign to gather their child into their many arms, as if to shelter them from the threats and dangers of the universe.
yaoshi leaned down slightly, kissing away what remained of the emanator's tears, as if to whisper kindly reassurances.
'shed your tears no longer.'
'i am here.'
'you will get through this, little one.'
to those with a bond that transcends space and time itself, words were trivial. unnecessary.
the aeon of abundance and their child had no use for words.
