I’M SO LATE FOR SINDAY OH MY GOSH! I got you though, Ozzie! You never specified if this was platonic, or whatnot, so I decided to do a bit of both for a couple of my dudes!

SCP-8713 / Ophelia

Receiving (romantically): ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH CALLING HER PRETTY OR PRAISING HER!! Things like Darling, Beloved, Lover, Dear, Kitten, etc. are always good but if you call her smart, beautiful, talented, compassionate. She’s melting and looking at you with the softest expression! Larry would always use it to warm her up before an apology for him dragging her into his hunts

Receiving (platonically): Ophelia isn’t super used to getting many platonic nicknames, it’s mostly been cold phrases like ‘girl’ or ‘SCP / SCP-8713,’ to refer to her in recent memory, so something as simple as acknowledging that she is a Miss or that she is a qualified and decorated nurse. That’s often enough to bring her joy! The common Hun, Honey, Dear and Loves though?? Those have to be her favourites of the passing niceties family!

Giving (romantically): GOD, OPHELIA IS SUCH A FUCKING DELI COUNTER WITH ALL THE CHEESE SHE HAS GOING ON. Petnames from her have two categories: artistic bullshit or like… such genuinely sappy vintage declarations of love that seem like they jumped off a 1910s Valentine collection. Some of the highlights of hers include: Tiger, Hotstuff, Handsome, Stallion, Sweetheart, Hunk, Stud, Dove, Angel, Lambkin, Love & Honey.

Giving (platonically): Ophelia is of the firm opinion to love often and love unapologetically, so practically everyone in her life has been given some personalized pet name or another to signify the relationship she holds with them! Poppy is her Ducky, Iris is Shutterbug, Easel alternates between Mr. Grumpy and Blot, Yam is her Sweet Potato, Lily is her little bear cub, Hell! Even many of the doctors and staff have nicknames! Connor had her calling him ‘Big C’ for a while after he joked offhandedly that it could be cooler than the corny nickname she had come up for him. So TDLR: everyone gets a nickname, they aren’t super generalized, Ophelia likes to tailor them to show people she loves them.

Receiving (romantically): SALLY WILL MELT IF YOU GIVE HER A SAPPY NICKNAME, it’s such a proclamation of unabashed love in her eyes and it is on the level of PDA to her in the best way. You call her your golden rose and you may as well be open mouth kissing her right in front of company and she ADORES it. In terms of notable favorites though!

Anything involving gold or yellow on account of her hair, Ladybird, Mouse, Magnolia, Rose, Sweetheart, Beloved, Darling, the last one especially is enough to make her get that dopey grin and nod like ‘Yes, I’m your darling, that’s me,’

Receiving (platonically): None usually! Sally, she won’t pick a fight with people but she dislikes nicknames and the faux kindness that carries with them. If you know her, she prefers you call her by her given name or either of her last names.

Giving (romantically): Darling, Beloved, Dear, Handsome/Gorgeous, Sweetest & Angel! Mind you these are all unisex in her mind, and certain relationships will draw their own unique petnames.

Giving (platonically): Sally really isn’t too fond of giving pet names to people! It’s not her thing, far too familiar and faaaar too presumptive in most cases. If you are her friend, colleague, etc. she’ll default to calling you by your last name, i.e sir, mr, miss, mrs. -blank- (sadly she’s pretty antiquated to these are her defaults) If she’s closer with you, you get to be a first name basis. For example, Sally calls the Trapper Evan!

But this said, she has been known to throw out the words Dear & Love platonically! I.e ‘Dear, would you help me lift this?’ or ‘Love, the door, my hands are occupied,’

Receiving (romantically): Evan is not familiar with pet names. Never grew up with them, never familiar with them & honestly, it’s a bit too much vulnerability to be comfortable. So, while receiving ANYTHING is wonderful and will make his heart flutter. It’s very overstimulating and overwhelming as well! Give him a bit to sit with any names before you make it a frequent thing!

Receiving (platonically): OKAY EVAN IS ONLY USED TO BEING CALLED BOY, SIR & MISTER. He had a couple goofy nicknames back when he had friends, like DaVinci mockingly for his love of art but that’s it! Anything else is new ground and he really doesn’t care much for it. Sir always feels nice though!

Giving (romantically): Contrary to the fact Evan isn’t super familiar with receiving pet names, I think he’d be incredibly open to giving them once he’s caught feelings! As I mentioned before, Evan goes full tilt puppy dog when in love! So a couple of his favourites are: handsome, babe, honey and muffin!

Giving (platonically): YA EVAN WONT, not in the respectful way that Sally does it or the overly familiar way Ophelia does it. He’s just… not giving you any of that warmth and even though he’ll knows your name, he isn’t going to call you by it. With Evan platonically, you’re either being barked at with boy or girl. Or, if he’s pissed off with you enough, he’ll break out the condescending sweetheart, pumpkin, etc.

Bio: From a young age, Duncan has felt like the black sheep of his family. And who can blame him? Everyone else is a respected member of the law, all police officers... and he just happened to have a problem with rules. Rules are meant to be broken, and sometimes it was way more fun than to follow the law and be a member of society. That’s what he always thought. 

Even then, Duncan never went that far with his criminal tendencies: vandalism, stealing stuff... sure, but he would never intentionally kill someone and don’t even dare to suggest he‘s one of those psychos who hurt animals for shits and giggles. He’s bad... but he’s not that bad. Deep inside, he has a hard of gold. It’s just way more fun to be chaotic, make fun of others and intimidate others, not to mention he HAD to act strong and tough while he spent most of his years in Juvy.

One day, however, he saw the add that would the beginning of big changes in his life. He saw Chris McClean, a popular TV show host, announcing his next project: a reality TV show where 22 teens would compete for 100.000 dollars. Duncan saw his chance to get out of Juvy ( even if it was only for the entire Summer ) and possibly return with money for his lawyer. And so, he made a “one of a kind” audition, which made him an official participant for Total Drama Island.

He didn’t do bad -- heck, he ended in fourth place from 22, that’s incredible! And, if he had to be honest, the experience wasn’t that bad. I mean, anything is better than being in Juvy, but he made some cool friends along the way like Geoff and DJ, as well as meeting a “one of a kind” type of girl in Courtney.

Due to circumstances too complicated to explain, he was one of the few to return for the second season, Total Drama Action, in which he became a finalist alongside Beth. A year later, he returned for Total Drama World Tour, only to immediately quit due to being constantly annoyed by non-stop bickering and the singing... oh, the singing. Unfortunately for him, he was eventually forced to return mid-season ( ergo, forced to sing ) and here is where his bad judgment got the better of him.

Looking back, he regrets the love triangle fiasco between him, Courtney and Gwen, but at the time he didn’t give a fuck what others would think. These reckless mistakes and acting too idiotic would continue in All-Stars, the fifth season of Total Drama and the last time he appeared in live TV. Fortunately, despite how stupid he was acting, Duncan was able to ponder over his own attitude recently... and how not worth it was.  Like, sure, he has always been sarcastic, a little shit and enjoys making fun of others to some extent... but that was when he didn’t give a crap about the world, about the future or the people around him.

The catalyst to his “change of heart” was remembering Mal, the top dog of Juvy -- not even he dared to cross paths with him and was fortunate enough to remain low-key while he was there. Knowing what the guy was capable of made him reconsider his actions, leaving aside his pride and “tough bad boy facade” to help others, especially Zoey. Despite his best efforts, however, Mal eventually learned about it made a plan to have him kicked out. Well, not only did he succeed, but he also made Duncan go back to jail... even if this time he managed to get out early due to good behaviour.

Now as a free man, while not changing one bit of his physical appearance ( Like, c’mon, the mohawk and the piercings are dope as hell ), he IS trying to move on and have a new life... a better life. He began to work at a tattoo and piercing shop as an apprentice, slowly getting to do his own work and having his own customers. The few people that don’t outright hate him from Total Drama still keep in contact with him, much to his luck. He’s still a jackass... but he’s a better jackass than when he was 16.

Note: Follows canon events up to a certain extent, diverges heavily in the events of All-Stars and the aftermath of that.

V001: Delinquent Without a Cause

Default main verse. Takes place after all the events of the Total Drama seasons he participated in ( for more information on my divergence in All-Stars, read the bio ). He’s currently living on his own in a small apartment, with a German Sheppard he adopted from a shelter while it was still a puppy, and working full time at a tattoo and piercing shop.

V002: I Wanna Be Famous

Mid-show verse. For anything or any interactions that happen within the context of Total Drama, in any of the seasons he participated in: TDI, TDA, TDWT or TDAS.

V003: Last Surprise

Persona 5 verse. His lawyer, when speaking to the judge who sentenced him to 2 more years in Juvy, said that travelling abroad would do good for him. Something about different environments and different routines, or something like that. Duncan didn’t ponder on it until he had arrived in Japan, and even then he only REALLY thought about what this was doing to him months later when his life changed in the most unexpected way.

It all started with Duncan doing something stupid. He was getting irritated by the idea of being a transfer student in a country he barely knows, to which he can barely follow a conversation with his basic Japanese... this led him to the shady deals of Junya Kaneshiro. However, what seemed like a good idea at first turned into a nightmare for him. If his lawyer learned about his, he would be brought back to Canada to complete his sentence behind bars... heck, they would probably make it longer!

But then... something unexpected happened. One of his classmates, a dyed blond punk questioned him about the blackmail ( first of all, how did he learn about it?? ) -- he only told him the truth in private, to warn him of the dangers and to make him stay away. He fucked himself over, he wouldn’t let others go through the same if he could avoid it. However, not only did he encounter that dude again, but discover a different reality from their own: the Metaverse.

That’s how he met the Phantom Thieves, how he learned about their identities and what they actually did to change people’s hearts. And the craziest bit? He, too, had the potential. Seems like his rebellious nature had awoken this “potential” years ago, however now it was actually manifesting due to being in the Metaverse. He was already a rebel, why not just continue being one? And like that, he ripped off the mask that formed on his face, his clothes chancing to something more leathery-like, and now having a large three-headed hellhound standing beside him: Cerberus. He was now known as “Demon”.

NOTE: He’s 16 in this verse and nothing from Total Drama happened in this verse. Not even TDI.

Somehow another National Signing Day has passed. It was a cycle that featured plenty of highs and lows for the Tigers. Auburn had 8 decommits this cycle, which I believe is a record for Gus Malzahn, three of those players ending up ranked in the top 100. But it was also the year of pleasant surprises with the Tigers pulling some major recruiting coups this season in the likes of Chris Thompson Jr, Kilian Zierer, Jay Hardy and Zykeivous Walker. Here’s some final thoughts on this 2020 class and some musings on the future.

Class Comparison

At a high level view, here’s how this 2020 class stacks up against previous classes under Malzahn.

For the 6th time in 8 years, Gus Malzahn signed a top 10 class per 247 Composite. Unfortunately, it was also the 7th time in 8 years his class ranked outside of the top 3 in the SEC. That’s just the world you live in when playing football in the SEC West. A #7 ranked class ends up being good for 4th in your division and 5th in the conference as a whole...

But what should jump out to you when reviewing these numbers is the average rating. The team rankings come from the point totals which are generated based on #math:

Second, the calculation. This is the math portion – stick with me. I promise to be brief. The commitments are ranked from highest to lowest based on their star rating. The scores are weighted, based on the rankings, according to a Gaussian distribution formula or a bell curve. In other words, the top recruit is worth 100% of his rating value, the second commit is worth nearly 100% of his rating value, and down to the last recruit who is worth a small fraction of his rating value. This formula ensures that all commits contribute at least some value to the team’s score without heavily rewarding teams that have several more commitments than others.

As such, not only do you need to sign blue chip talent to finish near the top of the rankings but you need to sign top 100 talent if you wish to crack the top 5. That’s why despite signing one of the deeper classes in the country AU finished outside the top 5 due to the lack of top 100 signees (at least compared to those classes ranked ahead of them).

But again, the average rating should stand out. If ranked by that metric then Malzahn has signed his two best classes back to back. The last time he did so was right before the 2017 campaign when Auburn won the SEC West. I am not saying this predicts an SEC West championship in 2021. What I am saying is that Auburn is doing a very good job of stacking top end classes back to back which should continue to keep them in striking range of Alabama, LSU and Georgia.

Here’s the numbers for the whole SEC if you are curious:

Georgia - 10

Alabama - 4

Florida - 3

Texas - 3

California - 1

Illinois - 1

Louisiana - 1

Mississippi - 1

Tennessee - 1

Germany - 1

Unsurprisingly, the meat of Auburn’s class came from Georgia, Alabama and Florida. Those 3 states have been and will always be the foundational pieces of Auburn’s recruiting classes. The Tigers did especially well in Georgia despite not flipping Broderick Jones. They signed 5 of the top 20 players in the Peach State per 247 Composite which is why Banner Society named AU the recruiting champs of Georgia in 2020.

While Auburn had tremendous success in Georgia, they took a beating within their own state in 2020. The Tigers signed only 1 player ranked in 247 Composite’s top 10 for the state of Alabama in J.J. Evans. The Crimson Tide signed 7. To make matters worse 2 of those signees, who happened to finish ranked #1 & #2, were once committed to the Tigers. The #3 player was considered a heavy lean heading into his senior season before committing to Clemson. It will always be difficult to beat Bama for the top instate prospects but the Tigers need to at least hold their own especially in 2021 which has a chance to be as top loaded as that 2019 crop.

What I find most interesting though looking at the geography of this class is Auburn’s continued success pushing west of its borders. After only signing 5 players total from the states of Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas in Gus Malzahn’s first 6 classes, Auburn has now signed 8 from those states in the past 2 classes alone.

I expect that trend to continue in 2021, especially in the state of Texas where Chad Morris was once a high school coach and where he built most of his SMU and Arkansas classes from. The loss of Marcus Woodson might hurt Auburn’s chances in the Magnolia state but both Jack Bicknell and Wesley McGriff have experience recruiting there as well due to their time in Oxford. Alabama, Georgia and Florida will continue to be the heart of Auburn’s recruiting classes but it’s important that the Tigers be able to step out of those areas to fill holes in the class elsewhere. It’s been encouraging to see Malzahn’s staff do so in the last 2 cycles.

JUCO Heavy

It’s hard not to notice the amount of JUCO products Auburn signed this year. That was something Gus did a lot early in his tenure before favoring grad transfers in recent seasons. Here’s a quick breakdown of the numbers:

2016 - 2

2017 - 2

2018 - 1

2019 - 0

2020 - 5

So why the uptick? Well Auburn has some major holes they want filled immediately, most notably offensive tackle, defensive tackle and cornerback. From the beginning the Tigers were targeting the top JUCO players at those positions and the strategy seemed to pay off overall. Auburn signed the #3 & #4 ranked JUCO OTs (just missing on the #1), the #1 SDE, #3 CB and the #4 DT. It’s unlikely all five are hits but if the Tigers can at least go 2/5 or preferably 3/5 then they likely have a starting offensive tackle, defensive tackle and cornerback in 2020.

Looking Ahead

Now with the 2020 cycle complete, attention turns to the 2021 class which is already off to a solid start. I will start breaking down the early top targets at each position in the coming weeks (hopefully I finish this time). The Auburn coaching staff has a bit of a new look with the departures of Kenny Dillingham, J.B. Grimes and Marcus Woodson along with the additions of Chad Morris, Jack Bicknell Jr and Al Pogue. We will see if they can keep bus rolling and sign another top 10 class this time next year.

HUGE Update Time

The page is back up and here is what you missed:

Theme: We only did a slight rework this time around, because I’m still loving the color scheme but we needed to make things a little more legible and organized. I’m pretty happy with it myself, but feel free to give us some feedback.

Pages: For some of the pages, we stripped their custom themes if we deemed them not important enough to be all fancily formatted. It will make it easier for people to access on mobile and for us to update. In additional we created a brand new masterlist to replace the old one. Since we were able to weed out a lot of characters, it was easier for us to transition to a more traditional character masterlist without it being too chaotic. (No worries, not all of our characters have been put up on the masterlist yet, since we are still waiting to hear back from a few people before we move forward with the extra work.)

Bio Removal: We have taken down quite a few of our beloved. Right now, while we are still waiting on hearing back from a few people, we have brought our numbers down to 90 total characters, with 44 of them currently being taken. This is a pretty good number for us and allows us not only to get more needed characters picked up, but it also gives us the ability to keep pushing out new bios without building up too much. We still have those old bios stored away somewhere if we get to the point that we can bring them back, but for now they will be in holding.

FC Changes: On that same note, we have done some FC changes to some of our open characters (and one taken character). I will list those below the cut so everyone knows.

RSVPs: 17 of our original 21 members from before the hiatus have sent in their responses. So far, 4 people are leaving, but 13 of us are staying, and we are still waiting on another 4 to hear back from everyone. If we do not hear from you by August 27th, we will be reopening your characters. Farewell to Ashley, Mali, Spencer, and Mandi. I will post all the unfollow links below the cut.

Finally, reopening: We have set a date and it is Sunday, September 3rd.  We acknowledge that for those of us getting back into school, this may be cutting it a little close, but we can’t see opening any earlier than that and we don’t want to wait too long. For me, that’s just a few days before my first class. However, we will be posting muse things, prompts, and character templates in the coming weeks to help people get prepared and into character, and in my eyes this will be the perfect time for us to prepare to mesh schedules with both school and rp and figure out how it will all work.
