which tragic character from ancient greek literature are you?
Tumblr media
#022 : “the stoic stowaway” --- rachel jones.
orestes.
you are orestes from the oresteia by aeschylus, and you are haunted by a cycle of pain. you try your hardest to be a better person, but sometimes you wonder if you will stop feeling trapped by your past. you have a strong sense of justice, you are quick to protect and defend those you love, and you are not afraid to compromise your morals if that means you are settling the score. eventually though, the consequences of your deeds will catch up to you, but that's okay, because sometimes looking your ugliness right in the eye is the greatest release.

🎲(Rachel and Anya)
🎲= an old church that has chipped wood and broken windows
"You think this place is actually haunted?" Anya asks, walking around the old, abandoned church. It would be nice to actually see a ghost or interact with one. . .well not nice, but it'd be a good story to tell.

I think I might get into the thriller/mystery genre. I've always been a huge fantasy fan, but I've recently run into three problems.
I used to read fantasy books where Sapphic (I'd say 'lesbian' but let's be so fr) romance was the focal point/end game. However, they are often so damn disappointing and I'm honestly really tired of feeling that way. I love lesbian books but they're either actually bi books or like. Memoirs. Or, worse, depressing/don't end how I'd like.
I can't take straight romance seriously at all so that's a no go.
Fantasy without romance often doesn't catch my eye. I'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy such a book, but just that none have really jumped out to me as a must read.
It's been a while since I read anything, and I miss it quite a bit but I don't feel like the "well-written fantastical lesbian romance" genre is a long list (believe me, I looked) and straight romances are corny. I'd be willing to read a no-romance fantasy book but ones that suit me are so hard to find.
All that to say that I think I might like the mystery/thriller genre? I'm actually currently making my way through "the girl on the train" audiobook and I like it a fair amount. This may be the right direction to go in to get back into reading.

For Sham, Rachel, and/or Yuri. And anyone else you want to throw in there!
what they wanted to be when they grew up vs what they do now? do they enjoy silence or find it too loud? what is their idea of the afterlife?  does it scare them?
i sort of took the easy way out of this one by assigning one muse to a question each, hahaha.
what they wanted to be when they grew up vs what they do now?
rachel: a railroad engineer, or a train conductor. someone that worked on trains, anyway. she loves her father a lot and that was what her father was. this passion waned a little bit when her father was unfairly fired for an issue with a train he was working on that was pinned on him, and she spent a while hating the very idea of associating herself professionally with trains. currently she works in the information selling business, so it would actually be difficult for her to separate herself from that life. a part of her very much would like to be an engineer or a conductor still, but she's a woman in 1930's america and is also very aware that even if she left the information business her life would be at risk because of everything she already knows.
do they enjoy silence or find it too loud?
yuri: yuri absolutely hates silence. something that's not often mentioned is that yuri would have been by himself a lot as a child when yor began working as an assassin to fund his livelihood, and i think those were his least favorite times. because the world was and still is tumultuous, he'd spend most of that time worrying about yor's wellbeing, and that has led him to find silence incredibly difficult to stand. though he doesn't realize it, this IS something of a factor in why yuri doesn't really rest very often, because his home is predictably a very quiet place. at least when he's working, he has a lot of things to focus on!
what is their idea of the afterlife? does it scare them?
sham: sham imagines the afterlife to be a bleak and empty nothingness. that said, it doesn't particularly scare him because of the nature of his existence; actually permanently killing sham would be extremely difficult. in general, sham doesn't have much faith in religious or spiritual beliefs so it's difficult for him to either strive for a worthy death or fear death because he can't wrap his head around humanity's many different concepts of a potential afterlife.
headcanons. / always accepting.

@vvisteriagrows liked this post for a closed starter ♡ plot: in source ! muse: harry lewis. 25-30. stage actor.
Tumblr media
harry couldn't believe he let his friends convince him to show up here, let alone throw rocks at her window. he was one step away from holding a boombox over his head. the only thing propelling his delusion that this might work was his liquid courage. he threw a few stones softly, his aim slightly bad due to his drunkenness. after a minute of silence, he tossed another. "hello? anyone there?"

@merriemarvels asked: if this is your way of trying to make me feel better , you’re fired . (for rachel from tj)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Askani considered the woman before her. "I'm actually trying to make me feel better. Your angst is giving me a headache."
The Summers girl could be very blunt, and she figured that TJ would prefer some honesty to a honeyed lie.
"Now tell me what's causing this feedback loop of anguish between us..." she sat beside TJ, leaning back against the seat, trying to ignore the telepathic feedback she was receiving from her.

Y’all wanna know why marginalized communities don’t want to hear about how film studios only care about diversity? I’ll explain.
INTENT vs OUTCOME. When someone gives you unsolicited advice, it irritates you even though it was from a good place, right? When someone says something that offends you, even when they weren’t trying to, are you not still offended? They didn’t mean to make you feel the way they did, but they still did and they still owe you an apology, right? It doesn’t matter what they meant or the point they were trying to make, what matters is the words that came out of their mouth and how you feel. What matters is what HAPPENS not what was SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.
People are always talking shit abt those who do community service and record to post online because there can be an argument made about only doing it for clout. To that I say, Homeless ppl are being fed, trash is being picked, who cares that you can see it on tik tok? Who cares that you’re hearing about it?
Intent doesn’t fucking matter. At the very least, it will NEVER be more important than outcome PERIOD. STOP TRYING TO CONVINCE US OTHERWISE. Poc don’t care that diverse casting is trend bcs guess what? We’re getting representation. We’re getting jobs that we were barred from. We have a bigger voice now, we have more influence, we have more power.
But you, as a white person, can’t see that nor do you give a single fuck. Nah, you just sick and tired of seeing all these ppl who don’t look like you and want it to stop. You’re uncomfortable bcs u can’t relate, not even realizing that what you’re feeling is only a fraction of the community you’re actively trying to fuck over. And you are trying to fuck us over.
Stfu with ur bs abt how these film studios don’t actually care. Do you?

I don’t make a lot of opinion posts when it comes to Disney live-action remakes, but the hate Snow White is getting is really making me side-eye a lot of people. -____- I’m pretty sure I could do a whole dissertation on how Snow White (in the original 1930s animation) exhibits qualities of leadership, grace, kindness, perseverance, and a backbone despite what many try to say. But so many people seem to write her off as being uninteresting or not developed because she wanted true love and remained soft? Honestly, I feel like so many remakes (especially where princesses are involved) try to erase that softness where they can, working to give the princesses more developed personalities (but in turn erasing the grace that makes them princesses). I don’t know. If anything, it feels anti-feminist to me. There’s nothing wrong with being soft and pursuing love? That doesn’t negate strength, hardships faced, and even the more negative emotions they experience? The obsession with modernizing princesses to make them “palatable” to these weird, modernized takes that lack any nuance is...just really strange and feels like a major step back. (On a side note, this is probably why the only live-action remakes I’ve loved have been Cinderella and The Little Mermaid. I feel like those remakes thankfully kept the gentleness and romance while elevating it/expanding upon the story in a way that feels authentic to the original fairytales, and honestly, I really hope that’s what happens with Snow White. Mirror, Mirror and Snow White in the Huntsman back in 2012 were already attempts at a girlboss Snow White that frankly both entirely missed the mark for me, so I’m crossing my fingers that Disney tries something different.) Anyways, just some ramblings for the evening.
