Caroline had only seen this side of Klaus a handful of times, the real emotional side, she let go of the notebook and watched the way he traced his own words. This woman clearly had meant something to him. "I'm sorry for going through your things" she hadn't initially meant to, the notebook had fallen from the desk and landed face down on that particular page.

"can you.. tell me about her" she asked apprehensively, no longer in a jealous tone, but the more caring kind. She wanted to learn about what they once had, why she was lost. Was this woman someone he regret? or if terrible things hadn't have happened would Caroline even be sitting her right now.

Klaus looked surprised and confused by the question, a flood of emotions and memories flooding back to the surface all at once. He looked down at the notebook in her hands, the page was turned to an old poem he'd written about the Brave Bartender.

"She is an old flame..." His words were uncharacteristically mournful, but then, he never hid anything from Caroline. No, for this woman Klaus' wore his heart on his sleeve - for better or worse. He took the notebook gingerly from her hands, reading over the words himself, remembering why he had written them. Camille had never received this one. There were so many things she'd never gotten from him.

"She's gone love, there's nothing for you to worry about." Tearing his eyes away from the paper, they met hers, nothing but love and sadness in them. "I have a long and storied past, please don't let yourself be upset by it."

Klaus set the notebook full of another life down again, turning his full attention to the beautiful blond vampire before him, "I have many regrets in life. People I have loved and lost. But I would not change a moment of it Caroline. Because in the end, I found you."

Intense blues searched hers, he could see her pain and her loss. She isn't always given the credit that she deserves. And for someone who gives her whole heart to those she deems worthy. Elena came down the next morning to caroline's normal over the top breakfast with her and bonnies favourites just all over the kitchen. Way more food than they could ever reasonably need but that was Caroline. Their little christmas was all the more important after all the horrible things that had happened recently.

Its ok, it was really important to Elena too.

Elena had three gifts to give Caroline. In one bag, was an assortment of brand new gel pens, a planner, and some notepads for Carolines organization needs.

In another bag, was a sweater that Elena had picked out with a care-bear on it. It was very specifically the softest fabric she could find, just to make sure it met Carolines texture needs.

And in the third little box, was a silver bracelet that had three charms on it. All Marie from Aristocats.

Caroline returned to Mystic Falls to see her girls through their final year, able to let the merge go because Lizzie was now a hybrid. Things were good till the OEA came for the Salvatore School. Caroline was killed in the attack on the school as her students fled for their lives and she was killed by OEA. Will confirm but this was likely 1 to 2 years ago. She has just come back from the dead. So drama for that
