Time Travel Question 50: Early Modernish and Earlier 4
These Questions are the result of suggestions a the previous iteration. This category may include suggestions made too late to fall into the correct earlier time grouping. In some cases a culture lasted a really long time and I grouped them by whether it was likely the later or earlier grouping made the most sense with the information I had. (Invention ofs tend to fall in an earlier grouping if it's still open. Ones that imply height of or just before something tend to get grouped later, but not always. Sometimes I'll split two different things from the same culture into different polls because they involve separate research goals or the like).
Please add new suggestions below if you have them for future consideration. All cultures and time periods welcome.

Guys I noticed a FANTASTIC detail that has me in high hope for the wind reboot
Look at Musa's casual outfit:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's subtle, but notice the area around her waist. See the skin showing between her leotard and her pants and how visually similar it is to the whale tail in her og look? It's such a clever homage to the flagship season of the show while still creating a new identity for itself. They had absolutely no obligation to reference such a small detail in her design, but the fact that they chose this design element in particular stands out to me because of what it represents for Winx Club and it's history.
When the series originally aired, a lot of parents were mad about the amount of skin the girls showed, and Musa's whale tail in particular caught a lot of flack because, well, it's visible underwear in a show intended for young people. Of course that kind of thing is going to be controversial. So intentionally recreating that style shows they're a) standing by what made the original seasons so great, b) showing us that they remember and value the culture surrounding the show at the time (literally 20 years ago) and are hopefully going to take that into account when deciding which direction they're going to take the reboot and c) taking criticisms of that original run to heart as an intended improvement on the source material. Taking something iconic, understanding it, and running with it.
And they kept her a tomboy too!!!! For those who haven't been following Winx in recent years, Musa and Tecna's fashion senses have both become much more feminine as a result of putting the girls in matching outfits all the time. It feels SO good to see Musa's personality showing through her clothes again -- and that's something I can say for all of them (especially Bloom in that animation test). I love her music-note-looking M on her shirt and her purple fishnet glove. Honestly, there are very few things about their new designs that I don't like. And there are so many fun details and choices and looks to gush over! I'm officially hopeful that this reboot is going to be great.

what's your top three (or more) vale looks?
I deliberated before answering whether I want to show the objectively good looks or the ones where I personally feel crazy so I guess I'll try to balance both. Let's get into it.
1. Eyeball Mugello helmet 2011.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is it easy on the eyes? No. Does it look truly otherworldly almost terrifying. His own blue eye on the helmet, an ode to a lifetime of being watched and reclaiming the agency in it, the red suit, the yellow motifs of gloves and kneepads.
Leathers in general are some of the most captivating looking sport protective gear and his Ducati red ones being elevated in his trademark fashion, literally I have thought about them every day since I first saw them. It comes together in my mind partly because I love his freak ass so much and partly because if a bunch of alies descended upon earth, he could pass off as a revered human warrior to them lol. To me, it's a high fashion moment ™️.
2. 63rd Venice Film Festival, 2006.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Imo Face card with credit limit that could make Mansa Musa's worldly wealth look like peanuts. Cherubic glow on his face, a vaguely mellow mischievous glint in his eyes, curls settled around his head like a laurel wreath, sideburns framing his face in the trademark hot and iconic fashion. Every red carpet photo from this day is a hit. Fae prince realness served. Imo it also seems like the type of masculinity Vale always wanted to project to the world. Don't google the rest of the outfit he was in some ugly jeans.
3. Hair Color Saga.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Self-explanatory. Cemented him as an idea as a showman in the minds of people. Did it while having fun. Loved that he was on a mission to try as many colors as possible. My personal favourite is the blue hair by far.
4. Misc. Because why not.
Tumblr media
That time he looked like a hot dirtbag at Wimbledon and god knows how many inane rules he broke in the process. Sticking it to the man in trademark Vale style.
Tumblr media
Okayyy Miss Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil Shade 015 Cherry.
Tumblr media
That time he got jacked??? As my husband Diljit Dosanjh said, "lookin thicc, she be on that protein". It's not even hot or anything it's just surprising because when he was young he hated the gym. (Thank you callie @moonshynecybin for these pictures because I didn't want to good Valentino Rossi shirtless ur a real one mwah mwah)
Alas I've hit the 10 photo limit so I will have to stop now but appreciating Vale's face never stops.
Thank you so much for this question. I'd love to hear your opinions, which Vale era is most attractive to you and which ones made you like him? And same for Fabio?

Headcanons about Winx and Specialists <3
When Sky is stressed/worried, he absent-mindedly traces the scars on Brandon’s hand.
Stella wants to try theater/drama club. C’mon, look at her – she is a drama kid, born and bred.
Bloom definitely had a punk faze. (Semi-canon? Look at her ex-bf Andy and Selina, and tell me she wasn’t at least a little edgy in middle school.)
Bloom never lost her interest in mythology, but during the ‘punk’ phase, she shifted her focus towards origins of monsters & creepypasta, and – well, that particular interest continued into adulthood. Except her scale for normalcy has been tampered with and what she considers fun facts disturb the shit out of the Winx and the Specialists.
Musa, while enrolled in Alfea, has had regular music gigs at a Magix cafe. For a very long time, she wouldn’t allow the Winx girls to come and see her during the gigs, afraid that they would glean something too personal from her songs.
Riven and later, Timmy, are one of the only people allowed to come with no invitation required.
Tecna, who had been subjected to epic highs and lows of musical education on Zenith, sometimes helps Musa compose and edit her songs. It’s both a way to bond with her very artistic roomie and a way to have fun with a discipline that was forced upon her. The two even start performing together at some point!
(Tecna refuses to sing; it’s a good decision, she’s horrible at it. But she plays keys and is learning drums!)
Out of the whole friend group, Timmy, Riven, Aisha and Bloom are the most competitive. They are also all sore losers.
Bloom is a coffee girl, Stella is a vitamins-only “I don’t ruin my body with those filthy drinks” wellness kind of girl, Tecna and Musa are energy drinks girlies, Aisha is a power nap girlie. Flora snorts drugs.
Brandon and Sky switching identities was prompted by an assassination attempt made on Sky. Assassins sneaked into his quarters while he was sleeping and tried to slit his throat. While they did manage to cut the skin on his neck, Brandon, who was sleeping over, woke up and together they stalled the assailant until the guards finally showed up. That’s when Brandon was made Sky’s squire.
Sky has a thin scar on his neck because of that.
Tecna doesn’t notice it when she cries. She never makes a sound either: tears just start leaking out of the corners of her eyes, with the rest of Tecna’s face remaining completely unchanged.
Flora's love language is gift giving and she loooves spoiling her friends with presents.
Aisha loves imitating people and Musa finds it hilarious. Stella stakes her life on being better than her at impressions (she really isn’t)
Brandon and Sky definitely kissed a few times.
Everybody knows about that.

Ranking my own fics
I've had writers block for almost a year now so I decided to go down memory lane and re read all my Rivusa fics to see if I should go back to writing them or if the mood is officially dead. And then list/rank/rec them here in case any of you are interested in my thoughts of my own writing.
I decided to keep this list to just shippy rivusa fics that are over 6k words because otherwise it'd be a huge post.
Gonna be a long post so it's all under the cut! I'm curious to see what you guys think of them or if you agree with my order. And if you think I should go back to writing those two.
1st place: TEMPTING FATE (collab with @septemberrie)
I feel like this one is obvious. It's by far the most popular of my fics and one that I never get tired of re-reading. It was so fun to write and make the arts for and I loved working with Skye on it. I still get butterflies when I read all the comments, it truly warms my heart to know so many people loved it. We still get the odd comment here and there of people re-reading or reading for the first time and it makes my day whenever I see those. This fic not only holds a dear place in my heart because of all of this but it truly is, for me, the best written out of the list. I'm not very good with descriptions and since english is not my first language I feel like sometimes my dialogue comes across a bit stiff, but since this was a collab with Skye, she filled in where my weaknesses were lacking and the result was a masterpiece.
2nd place: THIN WALLS (collab with @theperfectrose)
It started as my first attempt at a multichap fic written by myself and soon I realised I did need help so I brought Iva in and I'm so glad! The result was something I'm super proud of and I also love re-reading it. It has around the same wordcount as Tempting Fate, and it's also a rom-com type fic, but it only has half the hits, kudos and comments, so if you liked TF and don't know this one I'd say maybe give it a shot and let me know what you think?
3rd place: TIRED OF PRETENDING (collab with @gossipqueen2000)
In all honesty I had forgotten this existed until I re-read it and I'm so shocked I forgot about it because it's so good! The start of the fic is probably the best start of any of my fics. Mo was the first stranger-I-met-online I collabed with and it was such a nice experience, she brings such a depth of emotions in the descriptions and you can really feel it reading her fics (and collabs). I'll definitely not make the mistake of forgetting about this fic again. And I'll never be fixing that one very obvious editing mistake contained in it.
4th place: TOLERABLE
I consider this to be the most underated of my fics, because I think it's super good but it has very few hits/comments/kudos comparing to others that I don't love as much. Not only I wrote it all by myself but I really loved how it turned out, the dialogue and the descriptions, the worldbuilding and setting of the story, the way Riven and Musa slowly fall for eachother in a arranged marriage situation. I meant it when I said in the notes that I poured my heart and soul into this and I am proud of it and actually finishing it and posting. I keep thinking of coming back to it, add another chapter or another fic in this same universe because I love the premise of it, but because of the lack of feedback I'm not sure if people would actually read it or what they'd be interested in reading about. So if you do read it pls lemme know!
5th place: TAKING IT SLOW
This is me, dipping my toes in whump and going out of my comfort zone and I'm so proud of myself for doing so. I loved how this came out. I know I keep saying I'm proud of myself for the fics I've written but I really am. I'm very self concious and I'm always comparing myself to others, thinking what I do isn't as good or thinking I shouldn't keep doing something because others do it better. Even if I tell myself that I shouldn't write for others and I should do it for myself and not mind if a fic gets few comments or kudos a part of me will always look for validation. But re reading this fic made me feel so good about my own writing, genuinely proud that I did it. I love this fic so much.
(Here is where I realise my top 5 fics' titles all start with T for some reason??)
6th place: AN INNOCENT TRUST EXERCISE
I always think this is a lil' one shot that I wrote and an okay one but then I realise it's over 10k and really good? lol I guess I have a habit of forgetting my own fics. It's the first "big" fic that I wrote by myself and I remember being so happy about this fact. Re reading it I feel like it could be better, the pacing is a bit off and the ending doesn't really match the tone of the fic, the smut feels like it came out of nowhere and some bits are cringy to read. But I still love it. Maybe one day I'll go over it again and make some edits.
7th place: SHARK WEEK (collab with @gossipqueen2000)
I love this fic and I know a lot of people adore this too but I feel like it isn't as good as the others, maybe because it's been so long since I wrote it. I do still re-read it from time to time (maybe sometimes during that time of the month for me).
8th place: ANY WAY YOU WANT IT
This is more like a collection of one shots than an actual fic but I do like it a lot. Is it self-indulgent? yes, a lot. It is a collection of smut after all. I feel like my specialty is writing funny smut and I have a blast writing it, inserting comedy and fluff into sexy situations even being an ace person in real life, lol. I have a couple more wips for the next chapters but writers block is a bitch.
9th place: THE LAST RESORT (Colab with @septemberrie)
I'm only putting this this far down on the list because we just posted 1 chapter but I still love it. This was mine and Skye's second attempt at a rom-com type multichap fic after the success of Tempting Fate and I feel like it could have turned out amazing too, but life got in the way and we haven't managed to get back into it. If you think we should give this another try let us know!
10th place: I CAN FEEL YOU
I really like this one, but I'm putting it here in the list because it isn't just Rivusa. It's Rivusa + Sky, PWP. More focused on Sky than Rivusa. But I do really like the emotion I managed to write in this and I am proud of stepping a bit our of my comfort zone with this.
11th place: WHY NOT
I feel like this one is too basic, bland, not a lot of effort or emotion was put into it. I mean not all fics need to be deep and whatever and this one is basically just PWP, which is fine too. But idk it feels unfinished, like a first draft. The first half has too many characters and I feel like I get overwhelmed when I have to write that many voices at once so it's basically just dialogue with no description. And then it switches gears to just Riven and Musa and smut. Feels like 2 different fics glued together.
Honorable Mentions (Rivusa fics listed on my AO3 that fit the +6k words criteria I set for this post but that don't quite fit my ranking list):
EN GARDE: I don't really consider this my fic because @septemberrie wrote the majority of it, I just came in as a final push at the end, but I absolutely love it and I'm so happy she let me dip my little fingers on it and write a bit. Definitelly a must if you love period/medieval AUs.
A LADY'S GUIDE TO FOOLS AND FORTUNES: Another one I don't consider my fic but had a part in the making. It was written by the forever-amazing @septemberrie with art/gifs I made for the Reverse Big Bang event. I adore it and am so SO proud of the gifs I made. One of my best ones for sure.
REASSURANCE and JUST FOR YOU (both collabs with @gossipqueen2000 and AmandaLovegood): Both of these were witten back in 2021 when Fate had just come out. Feels like ages ago. I'm putting them here because I feel like they have more Mo and Amanda than Val to be honest, I don't really remember writing them or the process of it but I really like them a lot. Again Mo has this way of writing emotion and feelings and you can just tell it was her. It feels real and raw and so good to read, whump in the best way.

Everyone's being like super duper positive about the Winx reboot but ngl I am not a fan,
Tumblr media
Their civilian looks are certainly a choice, Stella is a mess and looks washed out, Aisha is cute but her wearing sports wear is sooo basic, not a fan of Techna but idrk why, Flora is cute but could be a shade darker because she looks too light in some of what we've seen, Musa's hair is horrible both the style and colour, her outfits fine ig, but I hate hate hate that she has light blue eyes and double eyelids despite previous images (including ones shown in the preview) where she has monolids.
Tumblr media
If these are their first forms these are like so insanely over designed especially the wings and honestly some are kinda ugly ? Like idk something just isn't working and it's a shame considering what we saw from previous leaks which looked way better, like Musa and Flora are cute and I like Aisha's hair but other than that, ehhhh. Also ntm Blooms braids ??????
Tumblr media
Like… Bloom I don't think that style of braids is quite what you should be wearing. Also just generally I think the style is way too generic, like part of Winx appeal was the style and whilst I think they could do 3D well they just aren't, and somehow so far a show set to release in 2025 feels less diverse than a show from 2004 even though it's the same show. Every time we see something from this reboot it feels like a downgrade from what we've seen previously. I'd try to be more positive but there isn't much to be positive about, I mean it looks fun and I like the environments, the animation seems expressive which is nice but design wise it's lacking and I really hope they make some changes for the better before its release.

Now here's Flora!
Design wise, I gave her naturally wavy layered hair, and her bangs are more volumized. Idk, I just thought it fit her. She also has glasses because I really adored that idea from her concept sketches! I kept her shirt design but did change the skirt to overalls because, again, I thought it was a cute idea but also because I felt at first Flora would wear what was easiest to garden in and slowly her clothing grows because of her friends and she starts wearing more clothes just for the fun of it. I gave her green platform sandals, but she prefers not wearing shoes as most in Lympheans do.
It's part of their tradition and culture. They believe it brings them closer to nature. Of course, they will wear shoes in other kingdoms to show respect, but there are hardly any shoes stores in Lymphea. Most of the shoes they own are made outside their kingdom.
She does have a leaf shaped bag, and it is to hold a mini potions kit, actual potions, and candies. She basically carries what she knows will help her friends with their magical drawbacks and hers as well. She carries migraine potions for Tecna and Musa, motion sickness potions for Stella, throat soothing candies for Bloom, and pain relief potions and calming candies for herself.
The pain relief potions help with her chronic pain due to her magical drawbacks. She feels the pain of nearby plants, at first this merely extending to those immediately close to her, but as she grew, so did the radius of this drawback. The calming candies are to help keep her emotions balanced or just dulled as she is so connected to nature that it reacts to her emotions. At first, she thought it was great, and so did her family, but after an incident where she hurt someone badly on accident, she vowed to always remain calm. This itself has drawbacks.
Her fairy form is the most change. Though I do adore her original design, I really just wanted to give her a dress that was inspired by the Dancing Fairies/ Fairy Dancer plants, also known as fuchsias! They practically screamed, Flora!
Headcanons!
• She is a middle triplet! Her triplet brothers are Faun and Guy. Her dad thought it was funny to name them after Flora, Fauna, and Fungi. They all adore their younger sister Miele and all of them are very protective of her.
• Literally, everyone has had a crush on Flora at some point. She's just very oblivious to it. She just thinks they are being nice. 😭
• Her full name is Flora Carmen Thorngrove
• Her and Darcy know each other a little because they both are Lympheans.
• She's a really good cook, but she has a tendency to...experiment.
• She is very much a mad scientist.

Salam brother. Can you tell me how to raise my self esteem without falling into egoism? Most of the advice about self confidence talk about boosting one's ego but I'm afraid I will fall into egocentrism. How to find balance? What's the islamic way to build self confidence?
Developing Muslim psychology instead of western psychology is very important to have self-esteem. Muslim psychology constitutes postulates of being optimistic, being grateful, don’t being materialistic, showing patience and gratitude (Sabar Wa Shukar), and above all, omitting the habit of comparing yourself with others. The comparison may lead to Jealousy which is forbidden by Allah. Be grateful at times of happiness and be patient at times of hardships. If you don’t have an optimistic approach towards life, you will become easy prey to shaitan. Build these habits with time and you will see your self-esteem and self-confidence growing.
Developing positive habits and involving yourself in performing virtues will increase your self-esteem. Remember that sins decrease self-esteem. The more you do sins, you will ultimate feel low, you won't see yourself speaking or expressing yourself properly, your mindfulness will get affected. Hence, develop a habit of helping others, develop a habit of complimenting others, develop a habit of speaking the truth. Spread positivity and positivity will reflect back to you.
Having good company is one of the most important aspects of having self-esteem. If your company is bad, you are spending your day with people who don’t talk about the good in life, who are always being funny and never discuss Allah, who tease you and others just out of the fun. All of this will affect your self-confidence in the long run. It is wisely said, If a person sits with another person who is wearing perfume, then ultimately the smell of perfume will start coming out of him too. If a person sits in a coal mine, he will blacken himself and his clothes as well.
Some of the things which we think will increase the Muslim’s self-confidence are:
Putting his trust in his Lord, depending upon Him and seeking support and help from Him. The Muslim cannot do without his Lord, may He be Exalted. As we mentioned above, self-confidence is an acquired characteristic, and the Muslim needs help and support from his Lord. The more he puts his trust in his Lord, the greater his self-confidence will grow and reach the highest level.
When Musa (peace be upon him) and his people fled from Pharaoh and his troops, and the two sides saw one another, we see the trust that Musa had in his Lord. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa said: ‘We are sure to be overtaken.’ [Musa] said: ‘Nay, verily, with me is my Lord. He will guide me.’” [Ash-Shu`ara’ 26:61-62]
Finding out what his strong points are and increasing them; what he does well and developing it; and what his weak points are and trying to deal with them.
In order to develop self-confidence it is essential to look with gratitude at what Allah has given you of skills and characteristics, so that this will motivate you to strengthen your self-confidence. With regard to your weak points, you have to try to deal with them and develop them so that they reach the same level as your other, good skills and characteristics.
It is very important for the Muslim who is seeking ways of increasing his self-confidence not to repeat negative words, such as saying that he has no self-confidence or that he will never succeed at work.
The Muslim has to set specific goals for his life and check on the outcome time after time, because the person who is self-confident will make sure that his goal is achieved on the basis of good planning and with the help of his Lord.
The Muslim should seek righteous companions, because that will give him a motive to succeed and encourage him to make greater efforts. The righteous companions will not overlook their friend’s weak points; rather they will guide him to follow the better path. Thus good companions are one of the factors of success for the confident Muslim.
He should not be distracted by previous difficult experiences and past failures, because that will spoil his efforts and make him look down on the success he has achieved. This is not something that the Muslim wants for himself.

Darcy and Riven – their story and why I ship them
In January 2023 I found my way back into the Winx fandom - more precisely, I created this Tumblr on January 28th, 2023 and since then I have been constantly passionate about this show from my childhood. Most of all, of course, for our three favorite witches. Accordingly, this year I have given a lot of thought and HCs to the Trix and their relationships. Today is the day that I'm going to write down all of these HCs and thoughts I have and tag them properly so that they're easier to find in my jumble of posts, reblogs and crazy fangirling. Well, have fun!
I got my first anon ask about Driven headcanons (hcs most of the time now) in march and therefore tried to order my thoughts on this topic as well. It actually became something of a definition of their relationship and how I see them in the show: This is how my bullet journal looks:
Riven is pretty badass. That's why Rivusa doesn't make much sense because ego-wise he would have gone after best-girl-Bloom. Or Princess Stella, but more Bloom, simply because Brandon (Sky) obviously found Bloom interesting.
Then there is Darcy. Not only is she the complete opposite of the loud, glittering fairy gang, but she also forms a stark contrast to Riven. She is powerful, yes, but above all she is calm, goal-oriented and come on in 1x8 we see how cute she is. Of course, Riven likes her power-talk in 1x9 but he surely is keen on her because she is a totally different type of girl than Musa or Stella.
Tumblr media
Oh, and an important thing that just came to my mind while supervising what I wrote and putting it into a post: DARCY DID NOT MIND-CONTROL HIM IN CANON!
Tumblr media
Her glowing eyes meant that she formed the connection with Riven, so that he could contact her mentally later on in the show!
Tumblr media
It's fkn 4kids who came up with the mind control because they tend to downplay everything for all American kids' sake. - Ok back to the post:
In terms of type, if comparted to the fairies, Darcy is mostly like Flora, but in contrast to the nature fairy, she has a much more self-confident demeanor. She is also the first to respond to Riven as a person and his needs (power, being recognized). Then of course there is the matter of rescue. Firstly: Thanks for saving my life and secondly: The woman can ride this flying motorcycle like a guy. Where can you find something like that? And unlike the Winx, who are constantly in trouble, Darcy (and her sisters) is beyond competent (in Season 1 after all, we know how the writing goes down, *sigh*). So, we have Darcy: a beautiful, competent badass BB who just saved his life and looks like an angel that fell from heaven - all in the specialist uniform too - sexyyy. So, it's an extremely attractive girl who also knows guy things and cares about him and really sees and perceives him as a person. She's not a self-centered good-time girl who makes him clean, so she doesn't have to endure her punishment alone (looking at you, Winx....)
But who exactly is Darcy? (she's my girl, my bb, my queen) Out of the Trix, she is probably the one who is least behind the world domination plans. Of course, she is still a member of the Trix - and of course not less power-hungry than her sisters. But she would be the one most likely to give up everything to live a quiet but fulfilling life with the person she loves. Isn't she? She is definitely the first to panic and to make mistakes as a result. We remember episode 1x5, where she immediately panicked when everything didn't work out as planned. She thought she would find Stella's ring in no time, that wasn't the case. Instead of keeping a cool head like Icy would have, she freaks out and starts attacking Bloom. Is it fear because she is running out of time and doesn't know what to do if her disguise is exposed? In any case, Darcy would have been expected to wear a more confident disguise. But in the end, she's the one most likely to panic and this episode shows that perfectly. Maybe that's also the reason why she has clever ideas, but often doesn't think them through. In episode 2x10 she tries to get Icy to put the feather in the scales, fearing that she might have made a mistake and get wiped just like Stormy, who had previously hit the scales with brute force. Icy states very correctly: You’re a backstabbing coward, Darcy. And I love you for that. And with that she the nail right on the head. Darcy is certainly the first of the Trix to get nervous. She certainly has a tendency to overthink, whereas Riven strikes first and thinks later (at best).
Tumblr media
Mind control is her specialty. She knows how to get into the minds of her victims to confuse and weaken them. At the same time, she also knows how uncertain and dangerous feelings can be. When it comes to having deep feelings for someone else, she is more likely to be the one who is insecure and cautious. Precisely because feelings are so uncertain, she probably tries to make decisions with her head rather than with her guts.
Their love story is iconic and cute. Basically, we have good girl and bad boy, but the good girl is one of the bad guys and the bad boy is ultimately one of the good guys. They haven't really fought against each other yet. Riven only knows that Darcy is one of the most powerful witches in Cloud Tower and that she and her sisters hate the Winx. Since Riven is skeptical of the Winx himself and has no deeper connection to them, he has little to do with this antipathy from both sides and perhaps only hears about it in passing from Brandon or Sky. So in 1x7 he doesn't pay much attention to the Trix. The fact that he turns on the light and exposes the Trix is once again Riven being Riven. He wants to be the cool dude and doesn't really care about the situation. He simply has no interest in the Winx's affairs and is only pissed when he becomes personally involved with Musa being thrown into his arms by the minotaur. Maybe that’s where his inner hero speaks? But first and foremost, he wants to praise himself. The first time he really notices Darcy is in 1x8, where she represents to him the complete opposite of the fairies, one of which had just shown him up (Bloom).
Darcy, on the other hand, is already interested in Riven in 1x7 and hides the whole thing behind the talk about the Prince of Darkness (seriously, WHO is the Prince of Darkness? Why is that never clarified?). One episode later, she's extremely worried that something might happen to Riven with Icy's, admittedly delicate, plan. bb obviously already has a crush on him. And no one can claim that Icy doesn't know this and is actively using it for her plan. I think that Darcy's feelings didn't matter to her at all, thinking she'd get over it sooner or later. But the fact is, even Icy sees the spark fly between them.
Tumblr media
So you could say it was love at first sight for both of them. It is also important for Riven that after all the disappointments and constant criticism he was exposed to at Red Fountain, someone finally recognizes him and his talents. While the Winx, especially Stella, just complained about him, Darcy supported what he was. Partly because she can take advantage of his ambitions, of course, and partly because she simply likes him. I think there are some things Darcy does simply for herself and not because it's part of the plan to rule the Magic Dimension.
Tumblr media
From Riven's point of view, what probably also speaks for Darcy is her maturity. She's not a little fairy to save. The opposite is the case. She is probably more experienced in other things too - but that always depends on the respective HC. Darcy can be a bad bitch and cute bb - both are accurate. For me though, she gives more bb vibes than bitch vibes. However, she appears much more mature and confident than the fairies. Speaking of bb (she's one, look at her!) -
Tumblr media
she's the type most likely to develop romantic feelings. Icy is too calculating and Stormy is just there for the passion (if you get what I mean). In 2x2 we have this scene "*sigh* To be young and in love...".
Tumblr media
She's also the one of the Trix most likely to feel something resembling remorse, if only for her time with Riven. On the other hand, in season 2 we have Riven, who immediately sees through Darcy's attacks - because he knows them. Very well. There is probably still a connection between the two. There could have been more hints about their relationship besides “cute” and “not cute”. There could have been one or two longing looks. I FELL ROBBED.
That’s basically how I interpret their story and why I ship them. I’ll come up with some headcanons these days as well. Stay tuned :3

So we got an official preview...
The official Winx party in Rimini happened a few hours ago and oh, my God. We were fed! I have many thoughts and feelings I'd like to share... Obviously, it'll all be below the cut and spoiler warning so no one gets spoiled if they don't want to be! All images provided are screencaps from the preview video which I will link.
I do not own the images or the video. They are all property of Rainbow.
However, before we go on. One thing to say: Rainbow, please don't use AI in promotional material.
Spoilers below the cut!
youtube
First up: the fairy forms (or at least what we see of them).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not really sure how exactly I feel about Bloom because blue and pink again... I long for blue and yellow Bloom to come back. But it is what it is.
Aisha's outfit reminds me of synchronized swimming costumes and her wings look like fins or even water droplets. Her hairstyle is really cute, honestly.
Musa's outfit looks like an updated version of her original MW outfit and I'm honestly here for it. Both she and Aisha have really cute boots on, too. I'm not really a fan of giving her braids but I could warm up to it. Also, her wings are freaking keyboards! I'm obsessed.
Stella looks very pale and the shade of orange for her outfit blends too much with her hair but that might honestly be the lighting because it was a recording on a screen. Her top and wings are giving sunbeams. I'm glad her bangs are back... Even though not in her civilian outfit. Maybe season 2 will bring her bangs back in all forms!
Tecna's outfit is once again the weakest. However, her wings are honestly really fun and I love her hair! Maybe her outfit will look better when we get a full view of it?
Out of all of the Winx, Flora is the only one we get. Her outfit, like Musa, looks like an update of her original form. Her wings have the same shape as her old ones, too, but I like that there's more colors to them. I am not a fan of her boots. Like at all.
Now, onto the civilian outfits.
Tumblr media
No real comments to make other than... Stella is ghostly pale and her outfit is the weakest out of the bunch. Bloom still has that weird outfit that desperately needs some work.
There's nothing much to say about the voices other than Musa and Aisha sounded a bit too similar. I love Flora's accent.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I'm really looking forward to the Winx reboot, in terms of both animation and writing.

I know this has been asked before but what's your favorite scene for each couple you've written so far
Bloom and Sky- Their talk after Sky tells the truth of his curse season 3, Chapter 34; The Truth is a Grotesque Animal
I just feel it captures how despite loving each other so much, things just keep getting in the way and (in a parallel with Daphne and Valtor) they are also a tragedy
Stella and Brandon- I don’t think I have a specific one but if I had to chose their moment in Season 4, Chapter 2; Love or Like, It’s Like Hide and Seek
It’s just very domestic and shows how much they just get each other. Also Brandon loving it when he gets to see Stella with her glasses is UUUGGGHHHH- they’re the cutest
Flora and Helia- I’m between the love confession in Season 2, Chapter 34; See the Light and… their scene in Season 3, Chapter 27; Show me the Places Where the Others Gave you Scars. Also, honorable mention to their moment in Season 3, Chapter 31: I’ll Stare Directly at the Sun but Never in the Mirror
They’re just so soft, I love writing for them but these 3 specifically where just… ugh- love it
Musa and Riven- I got 3 favorite scenes, first Season 1, Chapter 21; Lightning can Strike Twice, when they’re at Zenith because I feel like this is the first time they truly connect. Then, Season 2, Chapter 40; But Tonight I’ll be the Happiest Girl in the World, you’ll see, Like it Never Happened, since this is when they get together.
But THE SCENE for them is season 3, Chapter 45; Fairy Soiree, because this is when they realize that they’re in it for the long haul and they’re finally learning to communicate and it was just very soft and fun to write
Tecna and Timmy- there is only one possible option here, their talk in Season 3, Chapter 39; Would You Hold Me and Just Forget the World? Because I feel like it’s these two at their purest and the best way to see their relationship and what they mean to each other
I just loved writing that scene for them
Aisha and Nabu- their scene in Season 3, Chapter 27; Show me the Places Where the Others Gave you Scars, since this is when Aisha first realizes that she’s falling in love with Nabu
Honorable mention to Nabu backing her up when she goes up against her mom in Season 3, Chapter 57: Things Work Out, Except for the Ones that Just Won’t

...or...or reverse adopt
Griselda: Why did the girls give me a mother's Day card?
Griffin: I got a step-mom card.
Faragonda: I got a mother's Day card too.
All three: ...
Griselda: Did the girls really just adopt us as mother figures?
Winx: We did it in first year actually!
This reminds me of a post I reblogged 😂 It said:
Yes it's sweet when your fave adopts the plucky child they've just met, but the best trope is when the child finds the tallest, gruffest old man they can find and says 'yeah, I'm gonna be his problem now'.
The Winx spend more time with Faragonda and Griselda than their parents at this point, and those girls know something is going on between them and Griffin. They’ve been calling them their Moms for years (In the beginning, The three of them always chalked it up to an accident as it wasn’t unusual for students to call them “mom.”)
After graduation, The Winx realize that this could become confusing and decide that their Birth Mothers (& Vanessa) would be “Mom”; Faragonda would be “Mama”; Griselda would be ”Mother or Ma”; Griffin would be “Step-Mom or Wicked Stepmother” (because they think it's hilarious); and that Faragonda, Griselda & Griffin would be their “Bonus-Moms”. However, when referring to All of them, the Winx call them their “Moms”. And yes, the specialists are aware.
[Most of these take place after graduation, but some can take place before]
===== Bloom =====
Person A: What’s it like having two moms?
Bloom, looking through her phone: Five.
Person A: What?
Bloom, holds up her phone and shows them a picture of Vanessa, Marion, Faragonda, Griselda & Griffin having tea: Five moms, and It’s pretty nice.
Bloom, counting on her fingers as she lists them off: When I experience culture clashes, I talk about it to my adoptive mom because she can understand my point of view. (Vanessa)
Bloom: I’m able to get to know my birth mom and learn how similar we are despite not being raised by her. (Marion)
Bloom: Mama is always willing to lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on and offer advice. And when she has time for tea, she will tell all sorts of stories about my other moms, especially the embarrassing ones. She also gives the best hugs. (Faragonda)
Bloom: When I was falling asleep during my classes, the professors eventually stopped waking me up; I later learned Mother told them to let me sleep. She would then go over everything I missed one-on-one during detention or let me sleep through detention if I was in there for another reason. Now, she lets my friends and I nap in her office and will make time for us in her absurdly busy schedule if we need her. She also gives surprisingly good hugs if you’re brave enough to ask. (Griselda)
Bloom: And if the Winx and I are ever in trouble or end up in jail, our Step-mom will bail us out and not tell any of our other Moms. (Griffin)
===== Stella =====
Stella, hears someone talking shit about Faragonda: Keep my Mama’s name out of your fucking mouth.
–––
Stella, hears someone talking shit about Griselda: Keep my Mother’s name out of your fucking mouth.
–––
Stella, hears someone talking shit about Griffin: Keep my Step-mom’s name out of your fucking mouth.
(This one, in particular, has led several people to wonder when Griffin married one of her parents; Luna is the usual assumption)
===== Flora =====
Helia, over the Phone: The guys and I are wondering if you and the girls are free this weekend?
Flora: I’m so sorry, but we all have plans.
Helia, a little curious: Really? What are you all doing?
Flora: Well, Mama’s taking Bloom and me to that new Botanical Garden that recently opened.
Flora: Mother got tickets to a Ballet that Musa and Aisha have been talking about for months and is taking them both.
Flora: And Stella and Tecna are going to watch a Meteor Shower with our Step-mom.
Helia: That sounds incredible. I hope you all have fun!
Flora: We will!
===== Musa =====
Some Asshole to Musa: Well, at least I have a Mom!
Musa, without missing a beat: Actually, I have three, and each of them could kick your mom’s ass!
===== Tecna =====
Timmy, staring at the device on the table in disbelief: Where did you get this?
Tecna, speaking casually as she typed away on a laptop that wasn’t even available for purchase yet: Mother made some calls. It turns out a lot of people owe her favors.
===== Aisha =====
Nabu or Nex: Hey, Aisha, can I ask you some quick questions?
Aisha: Sure, what’s up?
Nabu or Nex: Why do you have a dagger strapped to your leg? Where in the Magic Dimension did you get it? Do you even know how to use it? If so, who taught you? And do your parents know?
Aisha: My Bonus-Moms firmly believe you should never go anywhere without a knife.
Aisha: It was a gift from my Step-mom.
Aisha: Yes, I do. Mother taught me, and she wouldn’t let me go anywhere with it until she was confident that I knew how to use it.
Aisha, Smirking: Mama asked, and they said No.

my digested thoughts on the reboot trailer!
ALFEA & FAIRIES
Tumblr media
Starting off, i want to say that the animation looked very hard, and what i mean by that is that there is a lack of natural motion.
When bloom was riding her bike, it just didn't look very natural;
Also, in this scene the skirts and hair looked very stiff [but i won't take that much into my heart because it's a paused frame]; otherwise, i really love the textures!
And, Stella has her "staff' back! I guess it's not much of a staff now, as it's very small so it would be more appropriate to call it a Wand or a Scepter, but it's there!
Tumblr media
I'm a little dissapoited with the background characters here because they all look very bland. Characters in the original were all so fun and unique that even background fairies, who never even spoke, were people's favourites because of their designs.
Through design, we got the gist that they had different personalities and that they all came from different planets all over the magical dimension, where different types of clothing were trendy. It breathed life into the universe without needing tiring exposition about it.
Here, their styles just look very similar to each other, and they all are quite boring.
Tumblr media
On another note, i think Alfea looks very stunning as always, and i really do like the design of the castle. I just think it looks a little bit less unique to the original.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, this fairy's design looks extremely simple compared to the winx's transformation. This just lowkey makes me upset because, at least for the modern fairy transformations, the background girls always looked top-notch and even had more complex looking desings when compared to the winx.
Tumblr media
+ a clearer look of her scepter > I think the intention behind this design was to make it look like the Sovereign's Sceptre with Cross or Queen Mary II's Orb, but the colour choices and star at the bottom make it look a bit tacky. I don't hate the idea of the design, but i think a different colour scheme would have made it look more regal. And I say this because thinking back to her original staff, it was quite sleek and luxurious looking because of it.
THE SPECIALISTS!
The scene where they appear is so blurry and quick that there's not much to talk about, but i definitely enjoyed what could be seen during those 2 seconds.
Brandon being with his full body upside down, you go king! We can't see any of them that well, but Sky looks cute, even if he's blurry, and Brandom, they could never make me not like Brandom. Riven looks like he's scowling, so that's good for him.
Also, I think the details of the uniforms look very cool, but something about the Board is giving plastic toy for me. The ship also look alright and other then that, I love that they had some falir whilst coming out of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
some quick design commentary
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I still don't love their daily outfit designs; actually, i think i'm starting to dislike them even more.
Musa and Stella's faces still look very weird (I think for Stella using yellow eyeshadows really was a BAD choice)
I like that their exploring outifts hate different-looking bottoms and that all of them have their hair tied up in different ways [not sure what's going on with Bloom's bangs tho];
Also still on the exploring scene i love that Aisha is the one leading even tho Bloom is on scene :p
Tumblr media
The Trix are honestly so iconic that i get very happy just by seeing them, even though i don't love theirs looks. They still look good, and I like that the bit with their initials looks that way, but something is off about the texture for me.
That was all from me. I didn't want to be very negative, and overall, i do think that it looks fine, y'know. And i do have high hopes for the storytelling and for it to be good!
Also, i don't think it needs to be just like the original series for it to be good, but I have set expectations. Because Winx Club was my childhood show, and now, as an adult looking back at it, I can see so many great aspects of the show that still hold up to this day.
And for me it just doesn't make sense how people back then could do such great things, and nowadays they can't produce something that's up to the same standars y'know [Winx Club Seasons 5-8, I'm looking at you].
Anyway, i'm very excited to watch it when it comes out. What are your thoughts?

The First Fairy Hunter
We’re back with another sarcastic comic summary! This time, we’re summarising Issue 133: ‘The First Fairy Hunter’. So, settle in, and remember that I do love the comics, I just really like being sarcastic. Be warned that this is ridiculously long.
So, we’re on Tir Na N’og, which is a school now. I don’t know where all the Earth Fairies live, maybe they moved into a condo. Nebula’s teaching - and can we all just take a moment to give a round of applause to whoever decided that, following her promotion, the woman that usurped the Queen and tried to kill everyone in Gardenia should be put in charge of educating the youth of today? Go ahead, applaud, they deserve it. Super decision-making…
Anyway, Nebula is announcing that Morgana, her mentor-slash-that-woman-she-condemned-to-an-extra-dimensional-void is here, along with the famous Winx! Who are here! For…some reason. They’re not teaching a class. Or giving advice. Apparently they just showed up to clap their hands and be name-dropped. (And have a random adventure, but we’ll get to that.) Also, Roxy isn’t here. Because why would the Princess of Tir Na N’og be on Tir Na N’og to talk to young Earth fairies. It’s not like she too is a young Earth fairy. Plus her mom is here. But that was two seasons ago; who can be bothered to remember genealogy?
Nebula asks Julia, the Fairy of Existing for Only Three Panels, to demonstrate what young Earth fairies are capable of, smiling uncomfortably as Julia pulls out her copy of ‘Disproportionate Global Vengeance for Dummies’. Fortunately, she rolls with it, and Julia levitates it, along with a couple other books, and the Winx are amazed, having never seen anything so impressive.
Julia gets interrupted by Lydia, who is apparently the class mean-girl, as she interrupts Julia’s book-levitating-skills to say she knows how to do it better, and when Julia defends herself, Lydia makes copies of herself to bully her, and Nebula, being the top-tier teacher she is, just kicks back and watches her student get picked on, because Julia stops existing in the next panel, so who cares.
Morgana, meanwhile, is applauding the illusory bullying, ignoring the inappropriate conduct in favour of complimenting the spellcraft (this is the woman who was willing to watch Nebula crush her husband with a giant iceberg; I’m not sure where you think the bar is, but it’s lower than that).
Nadine, Lydia’s b**** sidekick, decides to get in on the fun, glamouring herself to look like Morgana, which really impresses Morgana, and everyone says a sad goodbye to Julia as she drifts into obscurity and oblivion. (Not really, everyone’s already forgotten her name.)
Nebula finally gets up and does something, making Nadine look like herself again and telling Lydia to get rid of her bullying duplicates, and everyone watches with excited anticipation for the surely inevitable reprimand of Lydia for picking on another student, but no! The problem here is illusion magic, the bullying is AOK. Apparently illusion magic is forbidden at Tir Na N’og College, and they’re both suspended. Meanwhile, all the other students have just vanished from the classroom. Where have they gone? Did they leave early? Does anyone care?
Later, the Winx are just wandering down a hall with Morgana, trying to figure out what to do until their adventure of the week starts. Stella suggests they get a bagel. Bloom says no. Musa asks if she left her phone charger at home. Tecna says nah, it’s cool, she brought it. Everyone realises why Winx doesn’t show the behind-the-scenes bits.
Stella asks if Nebula was a bit too hard on Lydia and Nadine, and Bloom says they performed the spells correctly. Sure, Lydia was bullying another student, but Bloom thinks it’s okay to randomly assault royalty. Lydia was probably just having a bad week. Or she felt like it. She’s a fairy, so whatever. She can do what she wants.
Morgana admits Nebula was a bit harsh, but she understands why Nebula hates illusion magic, and says she’s forbidden it for a very precise reason, and Aisha asks what that reason is, since Morgana is being helpfully cryptic. Morgana says it’s because Nebula has never forgotten her defeat at the hands of Yllidith: the Lord of the Fairy Hunters! Dun dun dun!
Musa says this is the first they’ve heard of it. What? You mean there’s a villain you didn’t hear about until the exact, specific day it was relevant? Oh my God! That has never happened before! *cough cough* Wizards of the Black Circle *cough cough* Seriously, what are you learning at your apparently eternal course at Alfea?
Tecna asks if Yllidith is as powerful as Ogron and the other hunters they’ve fought in the past, and everyone pauses and goes ‘…Oh yeah! Remember them?’ Also, once again, Gantlos, Anagan and Duman are reduced to Ogron’s sidekicks or bandmates or whatever. I’m convinced Morgana and the other Earth fairies (see, I can reduce people to ‘other whatever’ too) just don’t know the other wizards’ names, and they’re covering up their shoddy research skills.
Morgana says that because of his illusion powers, Yllidith is far more powerful than Ogron and…um…the…other ones. Okay… I mean, Duman could turn into anything and Gantlos was the Wizard of Destruction and could summon natural disasters, but okay, some stage magic tricks are more powerful. (I’m sorry, Ogron and Anagan, but you may have to fight it out with illusion magic for least impressive powers.)
We get a flashback where we see the wizards kneeling before Yllidith in…a castle? They had a castle? They had a castle, and we saw them living in the sewers? What? Okay, whatever. Maybe it wasn’t their castle. Maybe it was an Air B&B.
We get to see the Gantlos and Duman in some pretty cool medieval outfits, along with the back of Ogron’s head (nobody tell him his face didn’t make it into the comic, he’ll be livid), while Anagan has apparently just been wearing that trenchcoat since the dawn of time. Meanwhile, Yllidith looks, to use @spilledmilkfkdies words, like a very colourful homeless man, while his…minions? Teammates? People whose moderate fame he’s glommed onto to become a disappointing comic villain? Look far snappier.
Apparently the wizards feared and respected him, and then we realise we’re getting dangerously close to the villains having actual human emotions, so we slam on the brakes and get to the evil bit, where the wizards besiege Tir Na N’og, and with Yllidith as their guide, they were practically unstoppable as they fought…what appear to be the college students from earlier. Ogron uses those blue lightning powers we all know he has in order to do an unspecified thing, well done him, now get out of the comic, your brief return to minor significance is over, see you for your anticlimactic cameo in twelve issues, and things are generally not good for the Earth fairies.
Nebula apparently tried super mega hard to defeat Yllidith, but he overcame her with his incredible power of making some duplicates and staring blankly at her.
But, fortunately, Morgana was there, and, with the help of Aurora, Diana and…Sibylla? She managed to blast Yllidith? Sibylla is blasting Yllidith? Sibylla’s in a fight? Sibylla? The Fairy of Sitting in her Cave and Doing Nothing is in a fight? So she can get involved? I guess the wizards unleashing the Abyss on the Day of Justice just wasn’t important enough to warrant getting off her stone chair, huh.
Anyhoo, shoving that glaring plot hole in with all our many others, we continue on to Morgana saying that Yllidith was locked in a cell in the castle dungeons, where he still is today. Nobody knows where he was when the castle was in that other dimension. Or where all the fairies were. By this point, nobody knows where anybody is, will be, or has been, we’ve made ourselves dizzy enough, so once the room’s stopped spinning from plot inconsistency, we pick ourselves up and move onto Musa’s very reasonable question of why didn’t the wizards come get Yllidith? Apparently, Ogron was super ambitious, and wanted to be the new leader, so Yllidith got left behind, because Ogron, Gantlos, Anagan and Duman cannot have human emotions or any motivations aside from power, so Ogron was the new leader. The fact that we hear nothing about the others being resentful of this feels like it says a lot, like maybe they actually liked Ogron better as a leader, and a guy that made them all bow to him like he was king rather than a guy who needed a new stylist wasn’t the greatest guide to have, but anyway.
Tecna points out that if Yllidith were freed, the school could be in danger, and that maybe keeping a felon under a school full of teenagers isn’t amazing decision-making, but don’t worry, because it’s not just any cell! It’s a special, magic cell, that Nebula monitors all the time, apparently even when she was in that other dimension, so apparently the wizards trapped Yllidith right along with the fairies. Or not, and Morgana is just covering yet another lapse in judgement from the Queen of Bad Choices.
Flora feels sorry for Nebula, and wants to reassure her, while Aisha was planning to feel some trauma with all this Ogron-mentioning, but then got reminded that this wasn't about her, and her trauma followed Julia to wherever it is things we’re pretending don’t exist go.
Stella wants to have a chat with the students Nebula suspended, and Bloom is curious to know where they learned those spells of illusion. I’d guess the Magic Dimension internet, but that’s not very dramatic, so probably not.
Bloom, Stella, Tecna and Musa get back from looking for Lydia and Nadine, and they find them, but apparently they’re in the basement, and the foreshadowing is so strong now that nobody can see the plot right in front of their face, and Morgana, who’s apparently just been standing there, doing nothing, says she’d better go check.
They go down to the basement and Bloom says it’s dark, so Stella says she thinks she can summon some light. You think? You think you can summon some light?! You’re the Fairy of the Shining Sun! Or Sun! Or Sun and Moon! Or whatever! You can relight one of the Pillars of the Infinite Ocean, but you’re iffy over whether you can make a hovering lava lamp? Really?
Lydia and Nadine, in the weirdly fancy basement, hear the Winx coming and don’t want anyone finding them, as ‘The Professor’ wants to keep his lessons a secret. Morgana appears behind them and asks what professor, and the girls beg Morgana not to punish them, forgetting that she doesn’t work at the school or have any authority anymore, so she can do precisely nothing. (Though, despite having made Nebula the queen, she’s still wearing her crown. Maybe her forehead was cold, I don’t know.)
Morgana says they’re in a sea of trouble for…going into the basement? I didn’t realise it was off-limits. But, fortunately, we see some of the Morgana that got overthrown by Nebula and gave the woman a promotion, because she says if they tell the truth, maybe she’ll look the other way and make them duchesses or something.
Bloom realises this has been not about her for a worrying length of time and quickly takes over asking the questions, asking where they learned those illusion spells, and they explain that they learned them from a mysterious teacher who lives in the basement, only contacts them telepathically, and has been teaching them to strengthen their magic by blasting a random seal. It is at this point that the Winx realise they are dealing with complete idiots.
Morgana flips because that’s the seal of Yllidith’s prison, and that it’s nearly broken, and Nadine finally realises that maybe something shady was going on here, and the girls learn the valuable life lesson to never start randomly blasting stuff because disembodied voices tell you to. Remember that, kids.
Yllidith pops up out of nowhere and blasts Morgana, because he’s the smart kind of escaped prisoner that hangs out right next to his old cell and picks a fight with the heroes of the dimension. I can see why the wizards were so invincible with his help.
The Winx do what they always do, transform and strike a pose, but unfortunately Yllidith actually is smarter than he looks (which isn’t hard), because a whole bunch of Yllidiths appear to confuse the Winx. (Frankly, going off the Winx in later seasons, if he wanted to confuse them, he could just have put a pull sign on a door you have to push.)
Turns out they’re all illusions, and further more that Darcy is suing because Yllidith stole her moves, but then everyone remembers that nobody cares about the law, so that gets thrown out.
Bloom says they have to warn Nebula, Aisha and Flora that the school is in danger from the exact specific villain they were talking about twenty minutes ago - what are the chances?! And Musa takes Morgana to a safe place. We don’t know where it is, maybe they went to hide in the void of irrelevance. Though that’d be a terrible hiding place, as Yllidith’s just gonna wind up there in ten minutes anyway.
Meanwhile! Nebula’s showing some remorse because she did a bad thing, so, based on the precedent, it’s time to make her Empress!
Flora and Aisha are telling her it’s fine, and it’s been years, so her trauma should be gone by now, and that everybody makes mistakes that almost get them killed and leave them with lasting emotional scars they can’t talk about because we’re keeping it light!
Flora points out that Nebula is now Queen of the Earth fairies, politely glossing over that time she tried to kill them all. And that second time she tried to kill them all. Don’t worry, she’s a fairy, so it’s all good!
Nebula says she’s not as strong a fairy as them, which is a bit weird, since she’s a highly-trained warrior and the Winx are still unaccountably in college, but of course, nobody’s as good as the Winx, so Nebula’s weaker for the purposes of nobody having to think too hard.
‘Morgana’ rocks up and says that if that’s true, Nebula isn’t worthy to be Queen, and I would say that’s a conversation that does need to be had, but for different reasons. (Like that coup she staged.) ‘Morgana’ says Nebula is weak and insecure and should leave the school forever, and somehow she just misses out on the ‘Understanding Person of the Year’ award, and Flora shows that she can be feisty by snapping at Morgana that she’s being spiteful, but the steadfast, almighty fairy warrior willing to fight the most powerful being in the universe for what she wanted admits that Morgana’s right, and she deserves to leave forever, so she prepares to follow what’s-her-face from class earlier into the void of obscurity, but thankfully Bloom gets there just in time to stop her, and Stella explains that it’s not really Morgana, it’s Yllidith, and he escaped his prison and decided to come mess with the person he already owned in battle rather than running for the hills and finding a better outfit that makes him look like a villain rather than a very tired guy at a Renaissance fair.
Yllidith, having anger issues and an apparent allergy to just getting the heck out of there, blasts Stella as though that will cause her to hoover back up what she just said and make Nebula believe he’s Morgana again.
Yllidith says that even if they find him, he’ll defeat them one by one, before proceeding to reveal himself. Thanks, buddy, that was really helpful, now we know where you are.
Flora and Aisha transform, and Aisha looks pretty close to doing that Black Widow hair flip thing, both of them just rolling with the bad guy of the week. Aisha puts him in a net, but it’s not him, it’s an illusion, and everyone starts to realise that this guy is basically a Darcy knockoff, but with worse fashion sense and he couldn’t keep his team around.
He disappears, and Aisha says it’s incredible, as though she doesn’t see her college roommate channel the supreme force of life in the form of a giant dragon on a weekly basis.
Nebula asks where Morgana is, and when Stella says Yllidith hit her with a spell that presumably did something, Nebula says they’ll never be able to beat Yllidith without her. Really? You have the Fairy of the Dragon Flame, along with a fairy with light powers that could disrupt illusions, and yet Morgana is the one you need? She was pseudo-involved in like, two fights in season four. She did basically nothing. Just let her daughter kick ass for her.
Bloom tells Nebula to believe in herself, and some voice of reason left over from the earlier seasons asks why they’re not using Believix against one of the guys it was presumably created to defeat, before being shoved into a broom closet before they have to start having continuity again. She tells Nebula to remember she’s the Queen of the Earth fairies, because she can presumably defeat Yllidith with political status, or maybe she can give the Winx some new power using the crown Morgana won’t give up.
Yllidith just pops up behind them, and Bloom helpfully yells out what’s happening in case anyone just couldn’t be bothered to swivel their eyeballs in his direction, and Yllidith starts…wrecking the castle. I don’t know why, don’t ask me. Maybe he wants to destroy his prison. Maybe he thought it’d be scary. Maybe he’s just a weirdo, and who knows why he does anything.
The students run for shelter, a student running the evacuation because nobody could be bothered to hire a teacher other than Nebula for a school that won’t exist again in four pages.
Nebula says it’s the end, and they have to save themselves. Seriously? This is the woman who watched the ground be ripped open by an abyss of evil and her first instinct was to charge, but she’s faced with some property damage and the end is nigh?
Thankfully, Tecna and her computer are there to establish that this is just an illusion, and Nebula says it looks real. Yeah, Nebula, that’s the point of illusions. Nobody would take Yllidith seriously if he just had cardboard cutouts of himself that he left around as duplicates. (I’m not sure how many people take him seriously now, but they’d definitely lose all respect for him then.)
Yllidith once again tries to turn back time through blasting, this time wrecking Tecna’s computer like she didn’t already tell everyone everything they needed to know. Apparently the Winx bore him, so why he’s still there, making it look like he’s doing something when he’s actually not is anyone’s guess.
Bloom tells Nebula to concentrate, and that together they can put a stop to these illusions, and Nebula gets everything back to normal with the power of smiling and doing nothing, which summons some violet magic that presumably does something. Thankfully, Tecna was right, and it was just an illusion, or else that would have been a rather anticlimactic end to the Winx.
Yllidith, who’s just lost his only real power, tells Nebula she’ll never beat him without Morgana and the Major Fairies (seriously, she can see through your illusions now; you have no power over her. How delusional are you?).
Then, Morgana pops up behind him with Diana, Aurora and Sibylla, and Yllidith just goes ‘Whuuuuuut?’ Nobody thinks to blast him while he’s distracted, but maybe they’re just being polite.
Stella says it’s impossible for the Major Fairies to be here, which, Stella, it’s really not, it’d take two minutes max to text an overview of the situation, and Diana and Aurora are confirmed to have teleportation. They could be there.
But anyway, turns out they’re not, and the two morons that listened to a random telepath they met in the basement have figured out how to jump-start their singular brain cells enough to come up with the idea to use their illusion magic to create duplicates of the fairies to distract Yllidith. And it’s presumably a damn good distraction, as Yllidith remains distracted as Bloom announces that they can catch him by surprise (yeah, Bloom. Announce your sneak attack. Why are you in charge?)
Nebula orders Flora to trap Yllidith with her vines, because she’s realised Bloom can’t be trusted to run the show here, and Flora ties up Yllidith like she tied Anagan up, but with no flirting because Anagan was cute and charming, and Yllidith is just the weird guy everyone wishes would get out of the comic, or at least get an outfit change.
Bloom yells for a convergence, because when the chips are down, generic uniting of beams of signature-coloured light is your friend, and she announces a Bloomix convergence that Nebula joins in with, apparently being a secret Bloomix fairy - who knew - and this is the second Winx convergence Nebula’s got in on, and she never has the power they said the convergence was for, but what the hell? She’s got a signature colour light beam, so let her join in.
They blast Yllidith and…apparently kill him. They don’t say that, but apparently they did, because he’s been ‘defeated forever’. Now, I’m gonna get serious a sec. We were told in season four that they couldn't kill the wizards, even though they’d betrayed them and prevented them saving Nabu, and Aisha was villainised for it, but…because Yllidith was mean to Nebula and pretended to inflict some property damage, he gets obliterated? What? So killing people is okay as long as Bloom does it. Got it. Good. Great. Hypocrites.
Now that they’ve killed the bad guy and made sure Aisha doesn’t call them out on what massive hypocrites they all are, Morgana shows up again, just in time to do nothing, true to form, and Musa’s a little ticked off she missed the adventure, but no worries, because there’ll be a new random villain soon.
Morgana says she’s proud of Nebula, and that she’s a worthy Queen of the Earth fairies, and that she totally didn’t just give her the crown because she was sick of responsibilities and wanted to hand them off to the first person she saw, and Nebula says she’s proud of Lydia and Nadine, because their illusions saved the day, and Lydia asks if they’re still suspended, and Nebula says no, and now illusion magic is fine, and the can improve their skills and everything is brought to a nice close, until presumably someone tells Nebula that Lydia and Nadine let Yllidith out in the first place by blasting random magical seals, and then I imagine they’re expelled and have to go back to wherever the hell all these new Earth fairies came from in the first place. Ah well, the end.
Thanks for staying with me for this sarcastic comic summary! I had a great time writing it! If there are any other comics you’d like me to sarcastically summarise, let me know! I can access most of them up to issue 152, though I’ll only summarise season 5-7, as the earlier comics are actually really good, and have better storylines.

vy my beloved big brained winx mutual you simply must ramble about the platonic winx/specialists dynamics i'm actually begging you </3 aldhgl
like,, which ones are your favorite and why! which ones do you want to see more of in canon! which ones are you definitely sure would be great but have zero canon evidence for (tecna helia dynamics my beloved ueghhhh)
THANK YOU FOR ASKING! YOU WILL RECEIVE!
i'm a huge huge huge sucker for platonic friendships and i think the biggest personal attack winx club canon has made on ME, vy lynpheas, is that they never really develop... platonic winx and specialist relationships ☹️ i haven't seen s1-3 in a long while but i just rewatched s4 and i'm wracking my brain trying to remember any platonic interactions between the winx and their non-boyfriend specialists. & i got nothing. when there was a 30 second interaction in s5 between sky and flora right before sky got amnesia, my 12 year old self thought about it for months i swear 😭
so i'm just gonna throw out a bunch of fun random pairings i like and how i think their friendship would work because my basic assumption is that EVERYONE is friends with EVERYONE because i want them to be!!!
(also i wrote most of this in oct 2023 and forgot about it but if anyone wants to ask me abt any more platonic pairings i would be so so so down 😭😭)
tecna & riven
okay this dynamic i have a lot of fun thinking about just bc tecna is musa's roommate so she deals with riven on a diff level than the other girls
i think esp early tecna would tend to make snap judgments of people & she immediately thinks riven is like. rude and immature and so everything he does after that point is framed through that lens. & i think riven is primarily motivated by his emotions (at least in terms of his interpersonal relationships) and tecna who is more "logic" based so she doesn't really understand why he acts the way he does. (i put logic in quotes because i do think tecna is biased toward her feelings when it comes to interpersonal relationships, but she sorta confirmation biases herself into thinking her judgment is more factual) & so i think their relationship begins as being vaguely antagonistic/indifferent (ie tecna making snarky comments to the side and riven being like. offended but kinda writing it off by acting like he just doesn't care about tecna), especially because she doesn't see why musa would like such a jerk and thinks musa deserves better.
then i think because of proximity and just facing a lot of mortally perilous conflict together, tecna begins to respect/sympathize with riven a lot more as a strategist because riven is actually like. pretty contemplative about his next moves, and she sees how his abrasive personality obfuscates that and leads to the specialist squad initially just. bulldozing over his ideas bc they're like "oh riven's just an asshole all the time let's go with sky's plan." and i think riven begins to really appreciate and respect tecna's tactical skills but also be slightly envious of how the winx do rely on tecna and trust her judgment. and he tries to learn from her approach: more levelheaded suggestions rather than condescending/combative remarks to express his ideas.
& i think riven's really good friends with timmy (they might be roommates in s1? i don't know if i made that up tho) so when tecna starts showing up more often & he can tell she's very important to timmy, riven makes an effort to be less rude and standoffish toward her, although still awkward. i think this is what especially shatters tecna's preconceptions about riven bc besides her relationship with timmy, he doesn't have any real reason to make nice with her -- especially after she's been pretty rude to him about him and musa.
and then they become pretty decent friends! maybe not super emotionally intimate, but they like, advocate for each other. tecna really utilizes riven's skillsets in her plans and makes sure he isn't overlooked & riven gets more protective over tecna bc he's like. this girl is smart and capable. and even when they don't always see eye-to-eye, she's very kind in her own non-traditional way.
musa & timmy
between riven and tecna, musa sees a Lot of timmy. i think as riven and tecna stop being as icy with one another, the four of them hang out as a group a lot. musa can kinda be the odd one out at times, because tecna and timmy can technobabble together a lot but if they veer into. hovercrafts or battle strategy riven and tecna can get Really into it with each other bc they agree on enough to not argue but have enough strong contrasting opinions to have very spirited conversations. so musa can kinda sit back and watch as timmy gets ousted from the convo and they have solidarity in that LMAO
they're both very chill and timmy is just. super curious about all of musa's hobbies and interests bc he doesn't know Anything abt music or anything. & i feel like timmy is an edm/techno/trap kinda guy & i hc that musa freelance djs at clubs and parties. so timmy is like fascinated by the mechanics of all of that and musa loves talking about music in any capacity so they reach common ground through that. and in turn musa gets interested in like, hovercraft mechanic convos and videogame lore that also helps musa better connect with riven and tecna!!
& i think these conversations evolve into. timmy tagging along with musa to raves LOL like they party it UP together!!! like timmy is pretty self-conscious and awkward at first, but musa really shows him that dancing/enjoying music isn't about how you look or acting cool -- it's just about having fun. and it really brings him out of his shell. timmy's got his white boy dance moves!!! riven goes to musa's shows sometimes but edm gives him a headache and most of the girls like to party but they're not into the subculture at all so they're not consistent participants. but timmy is a yes-man! he always wants to come!
& timmy and musa get fairly close because of this! timmy is such a huge hype man and occasional technician for musa and musa knows she can always rely on timmy to show up for her! and they just learn a lot from each other!
plus because they're both close with the other's respective partners, they like to go to the other for relationship advice because they'll get some unique insight into the problems they're facing. timmy is a huge riven-is-just-misunderstood advocate and musa knows tecna's ins and outs.
musa & timmy besties agenda <3 like i really really just love the idea of their friendship
aisha & riven
this is the only non-romantically involved winx/specialist combo i had actual recollection of interacting before i did my rewatch tbh. or i guess also riven and bloom. riven is just a very notable character LMFAO
anyways, aisha is hyper-independent and riven is prickly and easy to misjudge so. aisha doesn't fuck with him very much at first BUT when she comes into the winx's life she didn't firsthand experience riven double-crossing them w the trix. so she's an asshole to him for like. "i think you're kind of a loser and i don't like men that much in general" reasons instead of "you have personally wronged me" reasons. she challenges him to petty stuff because she likes poking the bear and she finds it kind of entertaining to see him get annoyed and want to prove himself for the sake of his ego, but eventually she just starts genuinely thinking that riven's a pretty decent guy. like, he never tries to undermine her for her skills, he just wants to match and surpass her. and he simultaneously respects her authority but also respects her enough to disagree with her and involve her in certain decisions, where she's used to having to put her foot down to assert herself.
at first riven really just. does not care that there's a new winx girl bc besides musa and maybe bloom they're all kinda the same to him. but then aisha is just kinda mean to him and temporarily hogs his hoverbike so he starts actively disliking her but underneath it all begrudgingly respects her. THEN he finds out she and musa are getting really close and she's actually a princess and he sees her put sky in his place over smth that wouldve irritated the fuck out of riven privately -- and he just starts to really like and respect her.
at first, aisha just likes to aggravate riven bc she initially thinks he's kind of standoffish and takes himself too seriously. so they'll be walking with the group and she'll all of a sudden be like "bet i can reach that tree faster than you" and riven's like "what are you talking about" "so you know you're gonna lose?" "uh, fuck no, you're on" and suddenly they're sprinting past everyone else and leaving them in the dust. but aisha tends to win these little competitions and eventually after she starts genuinely liking riven, she gets bored of trying to get a rise out of him. but riven still thinks she's cool asf and wants her to realize that he's actually Not A Loser so he's the one that ends up instigating more often.
their friendship is mostly characterized by them just. egging each other on. bet you can't do more hoverboard tricks than me. bet you can't do a backflip on the spot. bet you can't tell musa you haven't listened to her mixtape yet. bet you can't let stella give you a makeover. bet you can't swing from that vine across that canyon. holy shit riven ur lucky i have wings otherwise you would've died. nah i knew i could trust you.
like honestly riven is basically just aisha and tecna's kid brother. with aisha specifically he just rly wants to prove himself to her lmfao. little does he know, aisha already thinks he's cool but she will never ever ever tell him that.
stella & sky
so canonically stella has probably never met sky before red fountain in order to be able to pull off the whole name-switch situation, but i think it'd be fun if they had at least some awareness of each other before going to school from being the royals of their respective realms. like you can't tell me they've never attended the princess balls of some realm that's mutually allied with eraklyon and solaria! if anything, as his squire, brandon and sky must've always attended events together and been so close/tight-knit that a lot of people weren't exactly sure who was who, just that the duo themselves were sky and his squire. (because sky also barely looks like his parents lmfao)
i like to think that stella is extremely put off by sky for multiple reasons, including that he ultimately fucked up her relationship and completely broke bloom's trust. and pettily she sorta vows to make sure solaria and eraklyon never have good relations ever again. sky's like. well, can't let that happen + i need to be on stella's good side for the sake of brandon/bloom
and i think this results in him just like !! slowly trying to initiate a relationship with stella, like if he agrees with her about something he'll go out of his way to make it known he agrees with her. and just making comments and stuff to get on her good side
and stella sees right thru this lmfao she's like ok... i see your game... and i don't respect it... but she fully just leans into it and if sky is saying some kind of affirmative to an outrageous idea she has she's just like ok bet. put your money where your mouth is
which is how sky ends up in a lot of ridiculous situations because of stella like maybe during a mission stella suggests going down a path everyone else is hesitant about, and sky is also hesitant but he doesn't necessarily DISagree with her so he loudly corroborates her plan and then. it's just the two of them who get sent down that path and then get fucking eaten by a venus flytrap monster or smth idk. or sky ends up being stella's mannequin for like 12 hours straight while she figures out draping. or he ends up accompanying her to a stuffy ball where everyone around her is condescending her
and then eventually they'll just have more and more moments where they're spending time together like one on one and theyre like???? hey we actually do have a lot in common because of our upbringings and we can give each other diff perspectives about how to deal with the expectations that were imposed on us growing up
like stella has reacted to being in the spotlight as a princess by being aggressively and unapologetically herself. shes not afraid of fucking up but shes like inifinitely empathetic and kindhearted. sky is kinda the opposite where he's always tried to mold himself into expectations and really lean into this idea of being a leader-prince charming type guy. and basically they teach each other how to Be A Royal in a way that allows them to be their truest selves. like sky helps stella figure out how to use Royalty Etiquette and Rules to get her way and stella helps sky figure out how to let loose and not be so bogged down by duty all the time

Winx Club Incorrect Quotes
From my self-indulgent chatfic that takes place after my fanfiction S.S.S. so when all of them get along.
Iorda is my OC.
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Iorda: DARCY OMFG YOU LITTLE SHIT
Darcy: Yeah yeah stfu
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Icy: No, like, I still like men. Men are hot. But Bloom is also hot. I know that sounds like a pun, but that isn't
Stormy: I mean, you could be bi, or pan, or omni. etc. There are a lot of things that would explain why you find Bloom of all people hot
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Iorda: STORMY HELP ME SHE'S GETTING CLOSER IMA DIE! STOP YOUR CRAZY SISTER FROM MURDERING ME PLEASE I WILL OWE YOU!
Stormy: You're in the coven. She's your crazy sister now. Have fun ;)
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Stormy: Okay, let's get to work witches and bitches
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
The Squad watching Frozen
Stormy: Aw shit, bye bye Anna
Flora: No! She can't die yet! ;0;
Aisha: I think she is...
Tecna: If she dies I'll help you sue whoever made this
Bloom: Disney
Icy: They sound like asswholes
°•°•°•°•°••°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Tecna: But here is the real question, Icy:
Icy: Yes...?
Tecna Did the cold bother you anyway?
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
The Squad watching Raya and the Last Dragon
Flora: Aw the little TukTuk <3
Aisha: I WANNA SQUISH IT SO BAD
Icy: You'll kill it!
Aisha: *gently
Darcy: Proceeds to gently kill the TukTuk
Aisha: You know what I mean!
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Stormy and Flora smiled at the exchange before looking at each other, making expressions and hand gestures that conveyed that they both knew.
They both know the two fuckers were gay.
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Stormy: OH! Do you, by any chance, have a little... >:)
Darcy: Say crush and I forcefully assist you in shedding your skin
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Stormy: ... do you seriously think if you got into a romantic relationship with Iorda that you'd hurt her?
Darcy: Yeah, of course. What else would happen?
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
"Glad I'm corrupting you so well," Darcy teased and decided to retaliate because them and Iorda banter on the daily. This wasn't any different, right? "Sweetheart."
Iorda coughed on air because one thing she hadn't learned from Darcy was how to have an excellent poker face. She wasn't expecting that comment, and holy shit her brain wasn't functioning she was too gay for this. If she had a pillow she would scream in it.
"Shut up," Iorda said, laughing under her breath and trying to calm herself down. Darcy cackled, throwing her head back, and Iorda looked back at the group awhile in front of her. "MUSA I'M GETTING VERBALLY ABUSED!"
Barely Iorda could see Musa look back at them. "GOOD! YOU PROBABLY ENJOY IT!"
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Icy: I'm up for it. Also excited to see Bloom's type~
Bloom: =0o0=
Darcy: Simp
Iorda: wHeRe dId yOu lEaRn ThAt wOrD DaMmIT???
Musa: Bloom
Icy: Wait, what does that word mean?
Darcy: It means Bloom would like you to step on her
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Iorda: As one would say on Earth...
Icy: Not again -_-
Iorda: "Villan women."
Darcy: You have problems you know that right?
Iorda: Yeah, nO sHiT
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Musa: DO IT NO BALLS
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
