Katie Moon (USA) and Nina Kennedy (Australia) decided to share the gold medal in the pole vault final at the World Championship. Both women cleared 4.90m (16-feet-0.75), but both also missed on all three attempts at 4.95m (16-feet-2.75) before deciding to share the victory rather than go to a jump-off.
Wilma Murto (Finland) took bronze.

Finnish words that i think would make cool names
Note that these aren't "ordinary" names and would probably be better suited to more fantastical settings. But you do you, of course! They're just not "name" names.
Salama (A bolt of lighting)
Arkisto (The archive)
Kivikko (a stoney area)
Ranta (coast/beach)
Murto/Murska (break/crush (or break-in for the 1st word)
Rahka (it's a dessert)
Ohto/Otso (olden word for bear)
Mesi (Nectar)
Vaiva (ailment or bother)
Tahto (Will (like the emotion))
Sopu (A sort of word for peace that indicates a sense of general agreement - like the opposite of discord)
Salaisuus Or Sala (Secret)
Seura (company of another person. Not like. The business type of company)
Lento (flight)
Kajo (a word for the subtle leftover shine of light from far away, such as the sunset)
Nappi (button)
Mylly (mill)
Karkea (coarse)
Putous (water) fall)
Musta (black)
Kuu (moon)
Aura (plough)
Ps. Please tag me if you end up using these for ocs, I'd love to see

Hi I don't if you are taking requests still but could you maybe write Spencer with a Mexican reader and how when the reader speaks Spanish it turns Reid on. It's just that I don't see many or any stories of Mexican reader. Please?
funny you asked me 'cause I studied Spanish for a long time and I'm still absolute shite at it. but with a little help from the internet, here we are. (thank you for the ask💗)
“You like it?” You asked Spencer, referring to the movie you had convinced him to watch.
IT, your all-time favorite film, not exactly his style.
“Yeah,” he said, unconvincingly, making you laugh softly.
“ you don’t have to lie baby”
He sighed, a shy smile tugging at his lips “It’s just-it’s a bit…”
“Improbable”
“Improbable”
You both said at the same time.
You bit down a grin, as your hand went to his cheek “You and this improbable thing…” you sighed “It doesn’t have to be realistic to be cool”
“I know, but like- they don’t even explain how he was born,” he said “Was he created? was he born like that? They don’t tell you anything”
You couldn’t do anything besides letting your head fall in the crook of his neck, depicting your exasperation.
“But you like it, so I want to watch it” he said, stroking your hair.
“You sure?” you raised your head “We can change it if you don’t like it”
“I’m sure” He promised, leaving a quick kiss on your lips.
“Thank you” you murmured, kissing him once more.
You went to watch the movie again when a ringing sounded across the room.
You groaned, fishing your phone out of your pocket.
“It’s Camila,” you said, and he paused the movie
“Go on” he urged, and you smiled in return, picking up the phone.
“Hola, que pasa?”
Spencer heard a mumbling voice from the other side of the line.
"Que!?" you almost shouted.
You couldn't believe your ears, Sofia and Jacob, your long-time friends had broken up.
"No me lo creo" you said "Cami, es imposible, ¡Han estado juntos como una década!"
She was as shocked as you, as she tried convincing you of what she had herself just heard.
"¿Me estás tomando el pelo?" you exclaimed as she told you the story.
" no! Que hijo de puta, la engañó?"
He had cheated on her.
"es murto para mi, nunca más hablaré con él." you promised "Pero lo siento por Sofía, la llamo más tarde, ahora estoy con Spencer" you told her you were gonna call Sofia later since you were with Spence, and she immediately understood, starting to end the call.
"vale" you spoke, "hablamos despus, hasta luego" you bid farewell, hanging up.
You turned to Spencer, and just as you did, noticed a weird expression on him.
"what?"
"nothing" he said with a thin voice.
"Spencer..." you raised your brows, shifting closer to him "what?" you asked again, more sweetly "i can see there's something going on in that big brain of yours"
"it's-it's nothing I just-I never hear you speak Spanish"
"mh-mh" you nodded, "and..." you urged him to keep going.
"nothing- it's-it's cool" he gulped as you inched closer, a smug smile tugging at your lips. You had a hunch about what was really going on.
"cool?" you asked, taunting him
"I-I like it"
You smirked, cocking an eyebrow "Te gusta?"
he nodded, his knowledge of Spanish coming in handy.
"cuánto?"(how much?)
“A-a lot” he confessed
“Te excita?”(does it turn you on?)
He looked at you shyly, slightly avoiding your gaze before nodding.
“Cariño” your fingers grazed his jawline “no tienes que avergonzarte”(you don’t have to be embarrassed) you spoke slowly, noticing the way his eyes focused on your mouth as his cheeks flushed pink “El español es un idioma muy sexy” you giggled, your hands going to his hair
“I-“ he tried to speak, but for some obscure reason, he found he couldn’t force a word out of his throat.
“Que?” You asked “Que queries?”(what? What do you want?)
You were mere inches from his face, and Spencer felt on the verge of a heart attack.
“Sabes que?” You bit your lip before kissing his cheek “Creo que sé lo que quieres” (I think I know what you want)
“Qué te parece si vamos al cuarto?” (What do you think about going to the bedroom?)you murmured “Así que también puedo mostrártelo” (so that I can show you), and to that, Spencer couldn’t do anything other than eagerly nod as you took his hand in yours and started towards the bedroom.

Kolminkertainen Sielu, toinen kirja
2: Tunnustus
Lajityyppi: fantasia, romantiikka, LGBT/queer Avainsanat: enemies to lovers, slowburn, m/m, draama, seikkailu Julkaisutahti: uusi luku kaksi kertaa kuussa Suora linkki tämän postauksen kommenttikentässä!
Ren’in kädet lepäsivät Haukan lanteilla vain sekunnin murto-osan, mutta jo sekin tuntui ikuisuudelta. Haukka nielaisi.

Following Tuesday's negotiation session where Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's (NCP) government finalised next year's draft budget proposal, reactions to the budget dominated Finnish papers today.
According to a report by Ilta-Sanomat, the Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ) is "appalled" by the government's plan to make further cuts to vocational education. In spring, the government announced plans to cut vocational education funding by 100 million euros, and despite heavy protests, in the latest budget negotiations, it increased the cut by another 20 million euros.
"It is unacceptable that vocational education is being cut once again. The government's policy is at odds with the needs of the labour market and the goal of raising skill levels. There is a great need for skilled workers in areas such as technology and healthcare," said OAJ President Katarina Murto.
According to OAJ, the total cuts would be equivalent to reducing about 1,600 teachers.
Finnish Education Employers (FEE) association (Sivista in Finnish) also condemned the additional cuts.
"It is impossible for educational institutions to plan for the future when funding is constantly uncertain. Education was supposed to be exempt from savings, but the government has broken this promise regarding vocational education for the second time," said Director of Policy Heikki Kuutti Uusitalo in a statement.
Preserving Finnish language
The most widely-read story on Helsingin Sanomat story featured Finnish youngsters who are challenging the dominance of English words in the Finnish language.
Lauri Lassila noticed what he considers a troubling trend — his friends increasingly struggle with finding the right Finnish terms and often resort to English or ask for translations. He pointed out anglicisms or English words or phrases directly adopted into Finnish: 'running joke' becoming juokseva vitsi or using steppi (step) instead of the Finnish equivalent, askel.
Together with friends Touko Kinnunen and Saaga Suonvieri, Lassila started a group called "Kivenkantajat" (Stone Bearers), dedicated to finding Finnish equivalents for English loanwords.
Kinnunen attributes this trend to a lack of pride in the Finnish language, seeing the dominance of English as a sign of surrender to American culture.
Although language naturally evolves and loanwords have always been part of this process, the group worries about the extent of English influence and how it may undermine the Finnish language.
They pointed out that Finnish youngsters replace words like Purilaisten, kanansiipien and lounaan with English versions like 'burger', 'wings' and 'lunch'. Instead of developing new Finnish words, there's a tendency to directly adopt English terms such as canceloinnista for 'cancellation', smoothiet for 'smoothies'.
People may be hesitant to use new translations at first, Lassila admits, but told HS he has successfully introduced the term kyrnyty to replace "cringe", which he claimed has gained traction in his circle.
The group compared themselves to conservationists who are determined to preserve the Finnish language.
Finnish cities with clean air
Oulu, Tampere, and Helsinki ranked high in an evaluation of air quality conducted by the European Environment Agency (EEA), which assessed 372 European cities.
According to a report by Swedish language daily Hufvudstadsbladet, Oulu and Tampere are in fifth and sixth place, respectively, while Helsinki ranked twelfth.
Leading the list are Swedish cities, with Uppsala in first place and Umeå in second. Eight of the top 10 cities are in northern Europe, with Faro and Funchal in Portugal being the only exceptions.
According to the EEA, overall air quality in Europe has improved over the past 30 years. However, some cities still have air quality that can be harmful.
The city with the worst air quality in Europe is Slavonski Brod in Croatia, the country’s seventh-largest city, according to the ranking.
