when your best friend turned up dead, you knew right away it had something to do with the mystery guy she'd been seeing. she never gave you any details, but there were only so many places she could've met someone. only so many people there who would have interested her. it wasn't that hard to put the pieces together. at least, it wasn't that hard for you. apparently it may as well have been a three billion piece jigsaw to the cops, for how hard they found it. they don't even seem to care that her necklace never turned up. 

you're convinced he still has it. somewhere in his house, maybe. if you can get proof that he has it, maybe the cops will finally take you seriously.

Firstly, thanks for following me (I literally squee’d). Secondly, random question, do you happen to listen to the podcast My Favourite Murder? I feel like maybe you’d be into true crime, and if you’re into that, chances are you’re a Murderino. ANYway, on mini episode 390, the first hometown story is from a person talking about her parents being in a motorcycle gang in the 70’s when they were 19 years old. Apparently to the dad was the vice president of the gang, and his nickname was Lush.

I IMMEDIATELY pictured Crowley and Aziraphale being that couple (because my brain rot doesn’t. ever. stop.) and then pictured them in your art style. It made my afternoon. Thanks for everything that your contribute to them fandom! You’re awesome 😁

do you think a true crime podcast that doesn't descend into "murderinos" and valorizing murderers is possible? Or is the concept of true crime podcasting just rotten no matter how you try it?

I think it could be done but I don’t think people would enjoy listening to it

Okay. So. I watched the Laci Peterson documentary on Netflix. The two jurors? Don't think they could have found a more sanctimonious piece of shit pair of dudes. They piss me off almost as much Scott Peterson does.

Idk. Ever since my writers group dudes needed to see a guy be more evil than "let me impregnate this selkie, then she'll want to stay" to justify his fictional thematic death, my opinion of men's judgement on crimes against women has hit an all-time low. Just... the way they talked about the case and how high and mighty their judgement and opinions were.

"I don't care about this, I only care about that" like shut the fuck my dudes. Look, I understand the perils of our criminal justice system and the overincarceration of innocent men, and I understand the need to get to as close to the truth as possible. But in a system designed by and built to protect conventionally attractive white men like Scott Peterson, who are you to pick and choose what's relevant and what's not? Who are you to decide the difference between what's circumstantial and what's context?

Ugh. Idk. I don't like a lot about what happened with the press on the case, and my own red flags about Scott Peterson (besides what the documentary highlights) include "who tf goes open water fishing after determining its too cold to golf" (also, golf is a red flag in and of itself) and "only monsters park their massive pickup truck in a spot marked for compact vehicles", so.... I'm not exactly an authority on the matter.

But I do question the fuck out of men sitting on juries for crimes against women. Especially men like these two douche canoes. I don't care what the eventual verdict was. I pity the women who had to sit on the jury with those two pricks.

1) Very much regretting I didn’t watch Succession tonight, based on a few vague posts I’ve seen. I may stay off of my dash tomorrow until I can watch it. I sense spoilers.

2) I think the head of my department might be a murderino! In Friday’s meeting, she happened to bring up the weird origin of Nike’s “Just Do It” campaign, and that was half of Thursday’s MFM episode. I mean, what are the odds that this specific story about a Nike ad from 25 years ago happened to be on her mind for a different reason? Now to decide if I should ask her.

3) Adelaide’s with her dad at her grandparents’ house in Mississippi, and when I spoke to her today, I learned that most of what was supposed to be in her Easter basket got left behind in SC because (and this was obviously how it was expressed to her by her father) they just had too much to keep organized for the 7 and 3 year old. I know having little kids is hard and that this situation was accidental. I get it. But come on. Pointing it out to her and making it into an excuse she’s supposed to swallow and accept as ok? That irritates the hell out of me.

4) The Indian food I had the other night was SO good, and it’s been so long since I had good Indian. Very cozy little place. Cute tattooed waiter. Delicious cocktail too.

5) Jesus, remember when people used to be able to smoke in restaurants? And you’d get a blast of cigarette smell as you were eating? I’m so glad that’s not a thing anymore.

6) I’ve been thinking a lot lately about painting or wallpapering the dining room in a dark color. I love the idea of it, but it might be too much for a small room? Heather suggested maybe just doing one wall, but I don’t always love an accent wall. Sometimes it just looks like an idea you never finished.

7) I love it when you reply to a post from someone you’ve never spoken to before and they tag you back with a conversational response. Friendly never gets old.

fuck the “my favorite murder” podcast ad on my dashboard right now. fuck the marketability of branding people “murderinos,” fuck the pop culture obsession with serial killers, fuck white women thinking that making a few bland jokes is enough to absolve themselves from contributing to the fetishization of despicable and violent men. i know people like true crime and I know there’s probably an ethical way to indulge that interest but I’m so sick and tired of people mining tragedy for content. it’s disgusting to build humor off of human atrocity, it’s disgusting to reduce the violent murder and sexual predation of other human beings to an entertaining spectacle. years ago, i tried getting into true crime podcasts and the first podcast I tried began with the real, recorded footage of a small child calling the police after discovering her father had massacred her entire family. she was crying. she was scared. she was a baby. and I was just listening to a recording of a child crying on the worst day of her life while I was standing in line at a goddamn Home Depot. the banality of where I was, listening to such profound suffering, made me ashamed of myself. I couldn’t finish it. I wanted to cry, I wanted to throw up, I hated every second of it. fuck the culture of glorified violence and human apathy that’s brought us to the point where somebody can live with themselves and still make a profit off a podcast titled “my favorite murder” or mine the real, irreparable trauma of human tragedy for likes and subscribers. fuck that. fuck that.

anyway here's how online dating has been going. it's been about 3 weeks so far

i have been on one date. we got snowcones and talked for 5 hours! she was super cute and sweet

i'm in the process of planning a date with another woman, but i don't think i will like her. she called herself a murderino and got an extremely trivial fact wrong and it bugs me. is this why i'm single?

one woman lives in a different city and wants to meet up! no details on that part yet but i really like her so far

one woman sent me a very forward first message which obviously won my heart immediately. i like her a lot and want to get to know her more but she doesn't message every day so i'm not sure how interested she is

a woman who lives in my city wants to go to a local event with me next month. the frequency of her messages suggest that she is interested in me, but the content not so much

i matched with a person outside of my distance criteria because i think they're really cute. i like talking to them a lot but i'm worried i'll get attached and be in another miserable long distance situation. i did it to myself!

i'm talking to a few other people who i think i could come to like but don't have a good sense of yet

i'm surprised at how well it's going so far! i guess i had myself convinced that nobody would like me, but it turns out people do think i'm cute and interesting and want to get to know me! i feel very excited and hopeful. 🥰
