Por las noches dejo abierta la ventana de mi cuarto, aprovecho la ausencia de mosquitos ya que el calor extremo está incinerando la tierra y no hay una gota de agua donde se pueda criar ese insecto inmundo. Mi esperanza es que alguna noche entre de visita alguno de los murciélagos que sobrevuelan mi espacio aéreo, aunque creo que lo justo es decir que el espacio aéreo es de ellos, ya que sin drogas yo no vuelo, en casa casi siempre estoy solo y es raro que me drogue sin compañía humana. Le comenté esto a mi madre (la existencia de los murciélagos, no lo de la droga) y me dijo que uno de sus tíos (hoy todos muertos) llegaba frecuentemente borracho a su casa y meaba acostado en dirección al techo, su objetivo era acertarle a los murciélagos que sobrevolaban la habitación. Siempre que empiezo a creer que fui/soy/seré el más raro de la familia, aparece alguna historia del pasado que me destrona.

I need you guys to understand just how bananas this one character arc in the manga murcielago is. okay so imagine the following: for the first 22 chapters, this character, Chiyo has appeared on panel almost EXCLUSIVELY in the context of having sex with her girlfriend, the main character, Kuroko. She barely has any personality outside of being a girlfriend.

So far as we see in half a dozen entire arcs, she doesn't even know about the crazy action hero shit that her gf gets up to at work, or that Kuroko regularly cheats on her. We don't get a single glimpse into who she is as a person. The framing would have us believe that she is just the latest in the string of vulnerable woman that Kuroko has taken advantage of. I'd written her off as a flat cliche ages ago. But then, after 22 chapters of doing almost nothing but get head, Chiyo suddenly reveals that she knows exactly what's going on. She hears that Kuroko is going to investigate a cult full of evil lesbians, and she's like "My girlfriend is a horny idiot. she's gonna fall for every trick they have. She needs my help." Then she pulls out the samurai skills that she's apparently had this entire time, and kicks in the cult's front door to keep her girlfriend under control.

It's like the manga was using the misogynist cliche to hide her in plain sight. If they were always planning to flesh her out, why bury the lede? It's just such a unique move that I don't know what to make of it. It feels like a plot twist, but it's not. It makes perfect sense that the girlfriend of an eight foot tall serial killer would also be pretty wild.
