basically at the D23 convention they announced a new Monsters Inc land and while they didn't say where it would go or what it might replace, by looking at a concept map some people think it will end up taking over PizzeRizzo (? i think that's what it's called i can't remember rn), Piggy's iconic fountain, and the Muppet*Vision 3D ride.

MV3D was like the last project Jim Henson worked on before he died unexpectedly in 1981, and the ride opened a year later. it's a huge part of muppet history, recently got refurbished, and is one of already very few pieces of evidence that Disney even owns the Muppets. It's also just... delightful? i'm biased because im weird about these little felt guys but it seems like even muppet-neutral people really enjoy it.

KEEP IN MIND this is just what i understood from a few articles and tweets from Muppet History- i could be wrong with some of these details

still i have never gotten to ride MV3D and if i don't get to i will actually be inconsolable and i am not exaggerating

one of my favorite little touches from muppet vision 3*D are cast member kermie and piggy and their friends!

i used to be a wdw cast member so the disney parks have an extra special place in my heart, as do the muppets. needless to say, the few touches that the muppets still have on the parks do not go unnoticed by me :,-)

i especially love that their nametags say leland, ms and bogen county, ia 😭😭 those are such adorable touches!! idk why gonzo or animal don't have name tags but it's nice whenever i see them drop by :-)

the picture on top with all 4 characters was taken just 2 days after the announcement of monsters inc land which made me extra emotional. i hope with all my heart that muppet vision is going to be preserved for years to come- and although it's wishful thinking, i'd love to see the surrounding area get some love. (for those unaware, the stores in muppets courtyard have sat closed and unused for almost 5 years.) muppet vision is such an important part of both muppets and studios' history, and it also serves as an honor to jim henson's legacy. i really do love it with all my heart.
