Aghhhhh today is one of those days. I didn’t get to sleep very easily last night. It’s like my brain has too much going on. Birthdays, Christmas, homework, christening, health. Last night all of these thing were a jumbled mess whirling in my brain. It made my tinnitus loud and my head sore. Infact I ended up getting up making a sleepy tea and eventually falling asleep on the sofa. Not ideal. Today when I was shouted at 5.30 my brain soon started again. Today we need to get out of the house. Get some fresh air. I need to start back on the vitamins (especially D) to help get me through the winter. Back to school with confetti on top. Or back to school with a bump. However your first days have gone. It’s all ok. If they need some time to transition back into that routine. If you need some time to recoup. However your day has gone. It’s all ok. There is always a way to start over. There is always a chance to catch a breath. After some chores this morning & a then a trip to the dentist I needed a moment to top up my energy, A moment to breath. This is the river I used to swim in. Unfortunately we are no longer allowed due to vandals swearing at the farmer who owns the land. But just being there with a cuppa (my free cuppa for downloading the @greggs_official app) was enough to grab a breath after the first school run back. I mean to be honest it went surprisingly well. Often though it’s all a mindset shift that helps things feel like they are that bit smoother. I’ll be talking about mindset in motherhood in the Back to school chaos control challenge that we start on Monday 12th September. Along with strategies to find calm in the chaos. Do you ever get those weeks where it seems like one thing after another after another after another. Illness, dentists, car crashing, ambulances, medical appointments. That was me the last two weeks. My brain started defaulting to previous Nina - the pessimist, the I only get bad luck, the shit I’m gonna die type feelings. But this time I’d got my swim bag of safety , not only did I have a ladder to climb out of that pool of negativity, but I’d got my life jacket on, And there were guide ropes to pull me back to the edge. And so this week it’s back to business and getting ready for half term. Now then, What do you do when they happen? Who do you turn to? Do you end up in a spiral of negative thinking that you then get trapped into? Life is going to have these moments of utter shiteness, those heart wrenching, stomach churning moments. But when we equip ourselves to deal with them. To deal with the overwhelm it’s so much easier to bounce back. What tools, can you put in your safety bag? Today has been declared a mental health day by me. 🌿We started the day outside with some fresh air, sunshine, and seeing grandma & grandad through their window. 🌿Then I decided to do our visionboards The kids loved going through magazines finding things that make their heart happy. 🌿Before lunch there were some tunes on the radio that meant we had to dance around the table! 🌿The big two made a card for grandma & grandad to say how much they missed them and how they wish covid would go (felt a bit like dejavú) 🌿We’ve also had playing, pampering, and some Spanish set by school (because we all love learning Spanish) 🌿Now it’s time for 5 mins just for me with a danish & a turmeric tea! 🌿Some days have to be declared mental health day don’t they? 🌿Sometimes we have to take a step back.
