At my prom, they exclusively played the most AWFUL rap music I have ever heard and I THINK it was mumblerap. I've heard some rap that I think qualifies as mumblerap that I actually liked, so I was hesitant to say that's it, but you could not hear a WORD these artists were saying and the instrumentals were also miserable to listen to. It was also impossible to dance to. There were a bunch of kids on the dance floor grinding on each other, but no one else was even making an attempt to dance to it. Like, I generally enjoy rap, but this is like... if someone who hated rap music attempted to make rap music because everything that makes rap fun was completely gone. It was like what grindcore (one of my other least favorite genres) is to metal. Incomprehensible and noisy.

The only other thing they played was modern country slow songs.

Telling my mom about this experience and her being like "oh yeah at my prom kids did the routine from Dirty Dancing so I understand" is the closest I've come to relapsing into the "born in the wrong generation" mindset since I was about 12.

The point is, if that stuff wasn't mumblerap, I sincerely apologize to mumblerap for voting for it.
