This impressed the others and since then has being spreading its wings to the entire city! As the beautiful city is overgrowing, so is the demand and want for homemade food. As the name suggests, its not an easy task to deliver the right food to the right place and hence to simplify the complicated process, coding system was introduced. it has evolved through experience and time over the years. Initially it started with simple colour coding But as the demand increased there was a need to meet the ever increasing want and need  and hence alpha numerical  characters were introduced. With the ever changing personality it has become very easy for us to identify them in the crowd by looking at their WHITE topi which is important for them during the workhours or else will be fined Rs.25/-. they are well known for their swift service and work ethics.The Dabawala’s are called ‘Mard Marathas’, the worrier cast in Maharashtra, and as “Vithoba chi Fauz” that is the army of Lord Vishnu and are also decedents of Shivaji Maharaj. When asked to Mr.Raghunath D Medge, President, Mumbai Dabawala Association, “ During olden days we use to climb mountains for war, today we climb stares for delivery” and further added “We are in War against time”. This shows tremendous dedication and motivation that they have towards the job they do. Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a popular Hindu festival celebrated in honour of the god Ganesha. It falls on the fourth day of the Hindu month Bhadrapada, generally in August or September. This time this festival will begin on 31st August.

The festival goes for ten days – starts with the installation of icons of Lord Ganesha on the first day to absorption of the Lord’s icons on the tenth day.

Kasba Ganpati, Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganpati, Guruji Talim, Tulsi Baug Ganpati and the Kesariwada Ganpati are the top 5 Ganesh icons in Pune. This is the order in which these icons are immersed on the last day. Piecemeal from these, another well- known mandal is the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati that creates a replica of the numerous popular monuments and tabernacles of India. The fests in Pune are done traditionally and they try their stylish to insure that no citizen is disturbed in these fests.

The festival ends with the ‘Ganesh Visarjan’ where the icons are immersed in the water. The most prominent of absorption occurs on Chowpatti Beach. A massive crowd assembles then to proof the event. The processions for Visarjan begin beforehand in the morning and reachmid-night by the time the final ritual is performed.
