Casino Luxembourg – Fo.rum d’art contemporain, 41, rue Notre-Dame, L-2240 Luxembourg Artists: Aldo Tambellini, Otto Piene, Ibrahim R. Ineke, Semiconductor, Ayako Kato, Max Kuiper, Lisa Slodki, Hans de Wit Curator: Amelia LiCavoli Exhibition from 05.10.2024 to 05.01.2025 “Black Air takes its name from a 1968 electronic environment of video and pneumatics by Aldo Tambellini and Otto Piene. In addition to this re-activation, a new publication, site-specific installations, and performances have been commissioned. Ibrahim R. Ineke’s painting and artist’s book set the human scale. Semiconductor maps scientific data from expanses of dark energy within superclusters of galaxies, and visualizes them as sculptural reliefs, accompanied by sound. Ayako Kato performs a physical exploration of metaphysical black air throughout space and time. Max Kuiper constructs a mixed-media installation of sound, video projections, and transparent sheets with encased materials and prints. A suspended video installation by Lisa Slodki depicts a series of dynamic vignettes captured during a search for ether. Landscapes by Hans de Wit indicate bursts of radiation, churning air, and biological antennae, suggesting that the earth’s surface is more like a lung than a hard crust. Together these artworks demonstrate the amorosity of black air—which becomes visible or tangible only through its interactions, relationships, and effects.” Source + more information:

This is a collection of drawings by Peter Greenaway to accompany the ambitious Tulse Luper Suitcases multi-media project. The Tulse Luper Suitcases is an ambitious multi-media project, specially created for the Information Age, feature-films for the cinema, DVDs, websites, published fictional texts, exhibitions, video-games, theatre, paintings and drawings. The project covers the adventures of Tulse Luper (b. 1911), writer, collector and professional prisoner, who travels the world, leaving evidence of his obsessions, ideas, and works in a collection of 92 packed suitcases that purport to include an entire encyclopaedia of the planet and all that is in it, where nothing, absolutely nothing, is left out.

ok so im obsessed now, and ive learned a little bit more about the Roddenberry Archive, the project responsible for Star Trek Unification.
This goes a LOT further than just the one short film. Rod Roddenbery is heading "a multi-decade collaboration to preserve Gene Roddenberry’s lifetime of work for future generations to experience in next generation media formats."
Basically they're digging deep into concept work for star trek phase II, Star Trek: Planet of the Titans, the motion picture novelization, and the Cage. Mostly with a goal an preservation and recreation? its a lot of meticulous 3d models and renders. They want to make physical sets for everything. They're really heavily into the cage pilot, which is why THIS girl with the pony tail keeps showing up. her name is J.M. Colt
they are apparently developing a Roddenberry Archive Interactive Exhibit (WHICH I GOTTA ATTEND SO BAD) based off the Cage. theyre implementing "new holographic mediums for future generations to experience Gene Roddenberry’s legacy with the highest levels of immersion and historical fidelity." which sounds BANANAS. It's a fully immersive, interactive 360-degree experience where you can just WALK around the cage enterprise. You can use the turbolift to go to different levels, flip through Spock’s presentation of Talos IV in the briefing room, go through all of pikes stuff in his room. AND YOU LEAVE. BY BEAMING OUT.
I WANA GO SO BAD
Also bonus:
They got a little Animated series Arex!! Look at him!!! My boy!!
feel free to correct me if im wrong or add stuff! All of what i know is from like 2022 lol

I see you mention Magical Archives a lot. Is that like an official artbook? Can I get it in English somewhere?
Hello hello! Thank you so much for this question, I have been hoping to write about this for weeks 🥳
The Magical Archives Game Guide vol. 1 (full name: 『ディズニー ツイステッドワンダーランド』公式ガイド+設定資料集 Magical Archives ) is maybe the single-most informative Twisted Wonderland resource available!
It includes a huge amount of extremely detailed information, from gameplay to the characters to early-stage development illustrations to a multi-page interview with Toboso Yana herself, only one of two that she has ever given on Twisted Wonderland.
While it may be described as an artbook it is also much, much more, and if you are only capable of purchasing one piece of Twst merchandise in your life, it is absolutely the #1 thing I would recommend.
First published in 2020 it is still available for purchase from outlets such as Square Enix's Online Store, Amazon, Rakuten, Animate and more.
It is not currently available in English, but for a brief while Aniplex USA was releasing "Player Guides" for free via social media:
These were multi-page PDFs that were, visually, quite similar to the first 1/3rd of the Magical Archives game guide, but with updated gameplay information.
These game-guide-inspired PDFs combined with how out of date the gameplay information in the original guide has since become makes me wonder if maybe there not are any plans for any official translation of the original Magical Archives :<
There has since been a second volume of the Magical Archives released (in September 2024), but it is not quite as detailed as its predecessor, including gameplay information and a huge library of game sprites but very few sketches from Yana and no interviews.
On the subject of translated art books, there actually is an official English-language book being released in December!
While its English-language title is "The Official Artbook," this is actually one of four books of a series called "Visual Books!"
Much like the magical archives the first volume is the most detailed, including pre-colored base art and the occasional messages from Yana to the colorist (re: a comment that there is no need to put any light in Rook's eyes for his labwear vignette groovy ww).
The Visual Book Series is not really comparable to the Magical Archives, consisting of pre- and post-groovy card art.
The "Design Note" might be the closest to the usual definition of "artbook," consisting of insight into event outfits worn by various characters and even including a few sketches of unused designs.
Unlike the Magical Archives, however, there are no behind-the-scenes notes such as "He has a black-hearted side, so he may laugh with a hint of that often" (about Trey) and "He has vertically-slit pupils that become round in dark places" (about Leona), which can only be found in the game guide.
There are also volumes 1 and 2 of the Art Gallery! These are collections of artwork by artists that are unaffiliated with Twisted Wonderland, depicting Twst's characters, much like Square-Enix-branded fan art (no contribution from Yana involved).
Lastly, there are the fanbooks! Contrary to their titles they do not consist of any fan-made content.
Volume 1 of the Fanbook mostly consists of character/story overview, but it also has some fascinating etymology information and exclusive interviews with several members of the voice cast!
The second fanbook focuses moreso on events, and also includes detailed recipes of Master Chef cuisine, a report on the since-concluded Twisted Wonderland Exhibition, a look into a Twst-themed hotel room in Tokyo Disneyland's Ambassador Hotel, and more.
And a third fanbook was just recently listed 🥳 (Amazon link), said to include event, card and story content from the 2nd to the 4th anniversaries.
I hope this helps! ^^

Blueberries: Carmen Berzatto x Reader
Tagging: @kmc1989 @wabi-sabi1090 @turtle-cant-communicate @fallout-girl219 @morgthemagpie
Companion piece to:
The Farm - Carmy recalls the day you met.
Good People - Richie and Carmy discuss a potential relationship with you.
Pears - It starts when Carmy makes an order he doesn't remember.
Something Important - Carmy knows the two of you have something important together.
Mornings - Carmy sleeps better with you around.
Bubble - You have no idea that you saved Carmy's life.
Crazy, Stupid, Fucked Up World (NSFW) - Carmy tells you he lvoes you for the first time.
Doing Something - Carmy owns up to something he's been doing without telling you.

In another life Carmy could have been an artist. You see that as you flick through the drawings he’s left spread out across the kitchen table from last night’s burst of creativity. He’s designing the new menu for The Bear and was up until 3am pouring his heart and soul into a sketchbook of ideas to show Sydney.
Your fingers trace lightly over the beautifully shaded blueberries, the ones you know were inspired by the produce on your farm. His attention to detail is impeccable, the way he captures the colours, the light hitting each tiny berry just right. His work, it belongs in a museum, on display for the whole world to see.
“Think of it like this…” You say at the kitchen table later on when you try to explain how his food makes you feel. He’s barely been up ten minutes and his attention’s already focused on the menu. His unruly curls fall over his features as he sits on the chair in a white t shirt and black boxer briefs that make you want to usher him back to bed. “The restaurant is the art gallery and your food is the art. Each dish is a multi-sensory experience, one that captivates the person eating it. These drawings are like teasing what’s to come-”
“You’re fucking with me.” He says taking a sip from his coffee as you gesture wildly with your hands, it’s something you do when you get excited and right now you are very excited because you think he should be using his images on The Bear’s social media to generate some buzz. “My drawings are not that good.”
“Carmen, they are phenomenal.” You tell him, spreading them out as if they were a photo exhibit. “I just wish that you could see what I see.”
It’s in the shower that he begins to consider your words. Truthfully he still lacks confidence in his abilities, most of the time he feels like an impostor, like he shouldn’t be here building a restaurant, like he shouldn’t be with a woman like you. Therapy is helping him to challenge those thoughts and as he stands before the kitchen table in nothing but a white towel, slung low across his hips he can’t help but think there might be something in what you were saying.
He explains the idea to Sydney later on as she surveys each of the images, studying them intently. It’s one thing hearing praise from his life partner, he needs the vindication of his business partner too. The two of you are the most important women in his life besides Sugar and if you’re both telling him he has something, then he definitely has something.
“So?” He says, his palm rubbing over the back of his neck as he watches her. “Alice is wrong right? She’s trying to placate me.”
Sydney pauses, her hands pressing into the table before she tilts her head up towards him.
“Alice is right.” She says, her gaze meeting his. “They’re fucking fire chef, we should use them.”

On This Day in Schitt's Creek...
Well, hello, you! Were you wondering what fanworks were posted on this day in the Ao3 Schitt's Creek tag? Were you looking to read some older fics you missed or perhaps re-read an old favorite? Well, look no further! Each day, I will post all the fics that were posted Ao3 on that date from 2017 to 2024! Give some of them a read and show the authors some love! At the end of each month, I also plan to post some stats about the fics posted in that month.
Multi-chaptered works or unfinished WIPs will be posted on the date they were last updated. All fanworks included in the tag for that date will be included in the post.
2020
Designated Grape [david/patrick, M, 1,097] by bellalafrella
This is my idea of what went down on that car ride back to the motel after Patrick came to get his drunk fiancé from Herb's fruit winery.
Filling in the Blanks [stevie & patrick, M, 4,493] by Aelia_Gioia
A series of random text conversations that fill in some blank spaces.
In Moira Rosé Veritas [david/patrick, T, 2,283] by Aelia_Gioia
After David and Moira sample all the fruit wine, after Johnny and Patrick have a heart to heart, it all culminates in Room 6.
More under the cut!
Morning Rosé [david/patrick, T, 532] by whetherwoman
Somewhere Near [david/patrick, T, 20,777] by alldaydream
Patrick Brewer suffers from amnesia that has erased six months of his life, forcing him to move back home with his parents. No one knows about the life he spent in Elmdale, so he goes chasing after his lost memories there only to end up in Schitt's Creek instead, taken by the handsome owner of the general store he's supposedly never met before. Before 4x07 The Barbecue
sustineo [david/patrick, E, 10,056] by @rockinhamburger
The bad thing about being a world-famous contemporary artist is… actually, there are many bad things. The clout-chasers and users. The frenzied hoards of tabloid “reporters” and paparazzi vultures. The pressure from interviewers, curators, collectors, and art critics to pigeon-hole himself, or, at the very least, be consistent enough for them to do it for him. The neverending demands that he ascribe an approved meaning to his art. The elitist club at the very top of the art world pyramid, which David has never been a member of, what with his postmodern, mixed-media, performance piece style of art that in equal parts seems to shock and disgust and enthrall. Or, an alternate universe where David is a famous, reclusive modern contemporary artist and Patrick is the art critic who is interviewing him about his new exhibition.
Synchronicity [david/patrick, T, 2,966] by @landofsonlali
david and patrick have a conversation after leaving jake's apartment.
2021
[art] The Roses Reunited [david/patrick, NR, art] by @frizzlenox
The Rose family poses for a portrait at the Emmys when Moira is nominated for Sunrise Bay.
Assistant Direction [stevie & moira, T, 2,378] by bigficenergy
Stevie's lazy morning with Ruth is interrupted by repeated phone calls from Moira, who is nervous about her first day of filming the Sunrise Bay reboot and simply must talk to Stevie.
China [gen, G, 300] by Rosey_Peach
Come Away with Me [david/patrick, M, 6,034] by @flowerfan2
There’s a beauty to David that’s hard to define in words. Patrick prefers to tell him with long, slow kisses and the kind of gentle, drawn-out love-making that gets David to drop his defenses. He had sort of hoped that this weekend would lend itself to a night like that, alone in a fancy hotel in the L.A. he had imagined. It’s a lot less likely to happen in their subpar Airbnb. David and Patrick take a trip to L.A. for the Sunrise Bay premiere. It isn’t exactly what Patrick expected.
Free Marcy Hugs [david/patrick, G, 803] by @goodiecornbread
Marcy Brewer is a hugger. So she puts her mom hugs to good use. TW for implied homophobia/transphobia, but no phobic or harmful language is used.
kiss away the pain [david/patrick, T, 1,008] by @lastchancecafe13
“I can’t say that was something I would have ever wanted to see. I know you’ve told me stories but hearing and having it laid out in front of me like that. And he stood there with that smirk on his face--” Patrick's voice trailed off as he pressed a kiss to David’s lips. Patrick's thumbs traced the tear tracks down David's cheeks. He wiped them away before continuing, "I can’t believe after all that that you’re here and you’re so good David. After all that that you were willing to open your heart to me--" Tumblr kiss prompt #39 kissing the tears from someone else's face
Leaning on Somebody Isn't Easy [david/patrick, G, 2,976] by lucianowriter
A Continuation of “Hate To Say That I Miss You.” It’s been three weeks since the phone call and David finds himself single and at a bar where Patrick is. A conversation happens. Will they get back together or is there too much baggage? Based off Ben Platt’s Temporary Love
The Diamond and the Duke [david/patrick, E, 4,005] by asoftplacetoland
Patrick plans a very special roleplay for David for Valentine's Day based on his latest television obsession.
Mine Own Weak Moments [stevie & moira, 6, 3,644] by @treepyful
When her phone buzzed with a silent call for the third time in eight minutes, Stevie debated throwing it out her open window.
The Moira Rose Story [johnny/moira, G, art] by WrathoftheStag
It's the poster for the upcoming, and highly anticipated, Interflix movie The Moira Rose Story.
this is my confession [david/patrick, T, 791] by @blackandwhiteandrose
Patrick finds a way to tell David the things he wants to say before David is ready to hear them.
2022
About a Boy [david/patrick, T, 13,507, CW: MCD] by the_same_but_different
"How about mac and cheese?” “I’m very uninterested in that option.” “RJ.” “Patrick, I’m sorry, but these lunch selections you’re offering me are just…” “Incorrect?” “You said it, not me.” Patrick’s relationship with Roland Moira Schitt Jr over the years. (With bonus audio commentary from David Rose.)
Make a Wish [david/patrick, T, 1,330] by @goodiecornbread
After having a birthday lunch with Stevie, David planned on sitting alone at the motel, smoking weed and eating cake. Then Patrick offers to join him.
2023
Itty Bitty Living Space [david & alexis, NR, 100] by mallpretzles
David is at his wit’s end with sharing 300 sq feet with Alexis.
Wallpaper Whispers [david/patrick, G, 100] by @legalgal421
Patrick takes one last look at his room at Ray’s.
2024
Easy [david/patrick, G, 1,154] by obsessedwithdavrick
David loves his husband and enjoys his Sunday sleep-in. Patrick loves to spoil David. They both are taking time to enjoy their slow time together.
Making Everything Okay [david/patrick, T, 1,064] by obsessedwithdavrick
After many years of marriage, Patrick could pretend to be okay as much as he wanted. But David knew when his husband wasn't okay, and sometimes he just had to be the one to take charge.
oh honey, you can have me when you want me [david/patrick, E, 2,990] by stereopticons
“Such a good little slut.” He gives Patrick's ass a light slap. “So here's what I'm thinking. I think that you put on that dirty little sweatshirt because you wanted me to bend you over this table and fuck you, isn't that right?” David accidentally buys Patrick a joke hoodie. Patrick wears it, to great effect.
Rosewood [david/patrick, M, 40,050] by @beaiola
Inspired by Jane Austen's Mansfield Park. Patrick and David have been friends for years, their bond deep and undeniable, and there's no one whose opinion David values more. So when a new family moves into the neighbourhood, it's only natural that David should turn to his oldest friend for his advice and support as he tries to work out what this could mean for him and his future. Patrick, on the other hand, isn't as instantly taken with Sebastien and Klair Raine but David's sure when they all get to know each other things will be different. But there's no way he could forsee the impact the Raine siblings will have on the residents of Rosewood.

Berenice Abbott Wastebasket

Stella Simon, Wastebasket made from a photograph design by Berenice Abbott, 1931
The great art historian Svetlana Alpers published a book on Walker Evans in 2020, Starting From Scratch. Alpers discusses the influences of surrealism versus documentary in photography at the time Evans arrived onto the scene.
She makes the case in the first chapter, writing about the influence of Atget, whom the Surrealists claimed, that photography has a default surreal quality. "The surreal and the abstract are defaults of the camera." The argument doesn't work for me, as any image in a rectangle has surreal qualities. She contrasts surrealism with abstraction this way: "the accident juxtaposition of things in which surrealism produced surprise, while abstraction brought order."

Berenice Abbott, Photograph design for a wastebasket, 1931
Alpers plucks this one abstract Berenice Abbott photograph of crumpled paper as evidence that Abbott always had an abstract vein. This is an odd choice; it's not represenative of her output at the time, which was the topographical "Changing New York" project. Alpers points to the Abbott’s scientific photography, twenty years later, as the continuation of this vein.

Berenice Abbot: Refraction of Water Waves, 1958-1961 / portrait of Julien Levy, 1930
Abbott's crumpled paper abstraction was also a commissioned work. As the title suggests, it was for a design for a wastebasket. And it was Julien Levy's design. Levy had opened his gallery in 1931 and was high on Surrealism and photography. He was intent on bringing Surrealism to the states and he'd experienced the multi-media aspect of the movement and wanted to host films and sell books. Levy had a vision of photographs everywhere: large, statement-making architectural four-meter murals down to small cigarette boxes.
The murals project ended up being part of an exhibit at MOMA in 1932, whereas the smaller objects, which Levy called "kinick kinacks" are a curious footnote. A superficial search doesn’t turn up any surviving examples of these products in museum collections or auction results. A bulk of Levy’s archive is in Philadelphia and the museum has photos documenting both the finished products and the source photos.
Further evidence that Levy commissioned the crumple paper is an alternative crumpled paper photograph by the firm (or simply two people?) Whiting-Salzman Studio. This version has writing and a stamp and it's clear why Abbott's more abstract crumpled paper works better on the basket. There's also a second Abbott crumpled paper in vertical orientation, but it appears to be the same piece of paper, just rotated.

Stella Simon, Lampshade made from a photograph design by Berenice Abbott, 1931
Besides the wastebasket, Abbott also created what looks like a photogram for a lampshade design, with leaves or feathers that resemble a flock of hummingbirds. Philadelphia does not seem to have the source photo. The mysterious Whiting-Salzman Studio created a photo-realistic lampshade design and this source photo still has the Levy gallery tag on it.
Levy got House and Garden magazine to cover the new product line for the April 1932 issue and the first page has a small photo of the cigarette box, but the subsequent two-page spread has illustrations of what spaces could look like with "photography as architecture."
Levy's vision of photography everywhere was constrained by the available printing technology. Ninety years later, with countless services that will print a photo on nearly any surface, swag and trinket, perhaps having that constraint was a good thing. There's a Whiting-Salzman photograph of marble, perhaps a design for a lightweight serving tray that looked like marble. Today a great amount of new flooring is a photograph of wood under vinyl.
1932 was an incredible year for photography in Levy’s gallery. Along with the historic Surréalisme exhibit (which included Atget, Man Ray, Moholy-Nagy), that year he put on a European photography group show, a Man Ray solo exhibit, a New York photography group show (18 photographers, including Berenice Abbott, Walker Evans, Bourke-White), an Abbott solo show and a portrait photography group show. There was a fantastic 2006 exhibit about the gallery and photography (the catalog is at archive.org and has a few paragraphs about the design products).
About twenty years after Abbott's crumpled paper, Robert Rauschenberg was experimenting with blue print / cyanotype paper, some featuring figures as large as several meters tall. With a smaller piece of paper, he seems to have created a process for crumpling that was not simply balling it up, but folding the paper to create a controlled crumple.

In 1953, a few years after the cyanotype, Rauschenberg created a sculptural object, a glass box with crumpled tissue paper. The work was lost or destroyed and only seen in a few photographs.

CHICANO ART MOVEMENT visits: “Rasquachismo” 2024
On Saturday 05/11/24, we visited Huntington Beach Art Center to view “Rasquachismo” in the city of Huntington Beach, California.

(“Beyond Timeless” by Justin Favela, 2022)
We learned from the mission statement that: “‘Rasquachismo,’ [is] a multi-media exhibition celebrating the aesthetics and transformative power of Lowriders. Featuring work by William Camargo with Alkaid Ramirez, Justin Favela, Stephanie Mercado, Arturo Meza Il, Aaron Moctezuma, Jose Manuel Flores Nava, Alicia Villegas-Rolon, and Cora J. Quiroz.”

(“Anaheim in Flux” by William Camargo with Alkaid Ramirez, 2024)
“Emerging from the barrios of Southern California, lowriding brought forth a long resistance against the American Dream and dominant idealist norms that attempted to anglicize the young Chicanx individual. Forces of the Anglo-American culture did all it could to disrupt and omit the lowrider. From individual traffic stops to passing county-wide laws, all were attempts to take the lowrider off the streets. Low and slow, their metallic bodies transfigured in response. Now, unapologetically visible, lowriders glisten in candy-colored paint and dance with the aid of hydraulics. The power of lowriding extends beyond the car's aesthetics, however. It has become a rasquachismo expression of Mexican-American, and, eventually, Chicanx identity.”

(“Highland Park” by Stephanie Mercado, 2023)
A favorite of Robert’s at the “Rasquachismo” exhibit was Stephanie Mercado’s “Highland Park.” Through a little research, we learned that “‘Highland Park’ honors the cultural richness of the area including its history, diversity, and its valuable contributions to the broader arts and culture sector of Los Angeles. Utilizing imagery and icons sourced from the neighborhood, this piece celebrates the enduring local landmarks and showcases the architectural diversity that defines the area. Simultaneously, it pays homage to the artists and art spaces that have played a vital role in making Highland Park a vibrant and lively neighborhood for generations.”

(Detailed view of “We Can Dream” by Cora J. Quiroz, 2022)
From the museum ephemera, we learned that this painting entitled “We Can Dream” by Cora J. Quiroz is part of a series called “Not Your Typical Rosie.”
The artist states: “I paint women in a way that removes them from being acquiescent muses in typical artworks. From action, body language, and clothing, to expression, I ensure the women I paint have active roles of inspiration, movement, and storytelling. Raised by my mother, I learned about my family’s history through oral tradition. Rather than beng inspred by male-dominated stories in media, I became inspired by the Indigenous and Mexican women of my family, taking spaces where they were not expected.
The simplest acts typical for a man to perform, can often be taboo for women, such as working in the car industry. Despite this, for many years there have been women who have gone against the grain to become whoever they pleased to be, going beyond the WWII icon associated with strong women. These are the stories that inspire my work.”
(“El Cuento de los Panes: A Community Installation Inspired by Dr. Tomás Ybarra-Frausto” organized by the Exhibition Design students at Laguna College of Art and Design, 2024)
The exhibition statement shares that the term rasquachismo was “coined by Chicano scholar and art critic Tomás Ybarra-Frausto to describe ‘an underdog perspective, a view from los de abajo’ (from below) in working class Chicanx communities which uses elements of ‘hybridization, juxtaposition, and integration’ as a means of empowerment and resistance.”
The Huntington Beach Art Center presents “Rasquachismo” curated by Laura Black until June 1st, 2024 with their last programming event of an artist discussion is set for Saturday May 25th, 2024 from 1pm to 2:30pm.

Viviana Bonura (Palermo, 1999) is an italian lens-based artist. Her practice has a multi-media approach and combines visual and performative arts. Her research focuses on the themes of identity and existence by using her body and presence. She explores the individual both as a singular entity and as part of a collectivity by taking into consideration the surrounding space and its emotional history. She investigates the delineation and dissolution of boundaries by diving into concepts such as liminal spaces, hereditary traumas, and the connection between dreams and reality. Her work is rooted in the ambiguity of the symbolic manifestation of something held in our deepest and most human form. She graduated with honors in Graphic Design at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo and studied Media at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. Her project “Born from salt”(2022) was self-published as a book, got transformed into her first solo exhibition at 2LAB Gallery (Catania, Italy) and took part to many group exhibitions worldwide.

The First Friday Pity Party
First Friday in Colorado Springs is like a holiday in my mind. It is this exceptionally special night when art lovers, creators and appreciators crawl across town drinkin up the culture of our city.
This First Friday proved to be just that.
The much anticipated annual "Gratitude" show opened at Auric Gallery. After their fabulous face-lift last year, the gallery is back in its steady groove and, of course, brought this exhibition back for another round.
It's always wonderful to see familiar names in this 155-artist-lineup. I'm talking Lupita Carrassco, Becca Day, and the folks that have made our town so colorful for many years.
But what was really exciting for me was some fresh media from fairly new dogs on the block.
I was so pleasantly pleased to find an immersive installation by Jacqueline Moulton tucked in the back area of Auric. Moulton, while not having lived here quite as long as many of the familiar big names at Auric, has absolutely made an impacful splash.
Before I tell you about Gratitude, I gotta paint you a picture of this incredible artist.
You may find Jacqueline teaching poetry at Cottonwood, her neon red hair and expressive, funky fashion glowing through the room. She has an incredible energy that is welcoming and honestly, refreshing. She is always adorned in color every time I catch her around town. A living, breathing rainbow. Aside from her being a walking art piece, Moulton is also a professional lifter. Like weight lifter. Like buff-as-hell powerhouse. Follow her on socials if you don't believe me. She is a multi-faceted and layered character for sure, which is why I find it necessary to tell you about her before I tell you about what I saw.
Moulton's installation is entitled " The Pity Party Hotline." This manifests as a walk-in phone booth fashioned with plastic flowers, fake astroturf, and a sort of half-hearted puff of confetti.
Here, visitors can use the provided phone inside to listen to poetic readings from the artist. They touch on grief, loneliness, and being on the outside. The poems are read in a professional and lightly monotone manner.
This particular piece feels a little odd and out of sorts amongst the abstract paintings and classical media. But this is exactly what Moulton does. There's something liminal and transporting about this installation. It's the cartoonish plastic of it all. The upfront aesthics and comically straightforward style sits in opposition to the intensity of the topics you'll hear once you call in.
On the line, our operator says, "Your anguish, your sorrows, your woes are important to us"
Clinical yet reassuring.
Funny but touching.
Alot of duality is present here.
It's a lot like who I imagine Jacqueline to be.
Two vastly different things in one form.
The colorful creative
The serious athlete.
There's some poetry hiding in there.
I got alot out of my short visit inside the installation. It's refreshing to laugh about the seriousness of our delicate little hearts. It's a lonely and grief-heavy world out there, so it is nice to hear it spoken about in such a gentle way.
Gratitude is an absolute must-see this month, but do not make the mistake of skipping this backroom installation. If you want to check it out from home, call the Hotline at any time by dialing 719-785-0723.
Auric Gallery is open Tues-Sun 12-5pm
125 E. Boulder St. Colorado Springs.
Until next time.
Xoxo

CAM FORRESTER - 'A Symphony Of Sound' by The Velvet Underground (part 1)
"Multi-instrumental artist CAM FORRESTER performs an authentic interpretation of a 1966 rehearsal by The Velvet Underground entitled 'A Symphony Of Sound'. The band originally performed the improvised jam (which lasted almost an hour) in June 1966, at Andy Warhol’s studio, ‘The Factory’, in New York. The rehearsal was filmed by Warhol himself, using several experimental filming techniques (most notably erratic panning and fast in-and-out zooming) and was one of the many films he made that would be used for projections in the subsequent 'Exploding Plastic Inevitable' multi-media shows. This cover version is based on the audio of the film, and is essentially a highlight-compilation of the interesting musical ideas exhibited by the band during the session".
* This recording contains a sample of a viola solo performed by John Cale (accompanied by Maureen Tucker), which was sourced from an audio excerpt of the film 'The Velvet Underground and Nico' (a.k.a. A Symphony Of Sound) by Andy Warhol © 1966 The Museum Of Modern Art Film Library.

Collectables, 2016
From the artwork, Géneses Estoica (=Stoic Genesis) this are some of the subjects photographed in macro lentz, still kept and maintained until now and presented together with the photographs as undisclosed objects. To present what sometimes the human eye alone cannot see for itself as well as recreate an encounter with nature's most fine details. A part of a major artwork i would love to have an opportunity to exhibit, that talks about the Nature in Us and in all that surrounds us. Borda d'Água is a multi media project, being explored and enhanced since 2013/2014 up to nowadays, talking about the four seasons of a year, at the same time make a bridge between memories and traditional tales of the multiple cultures that coexist and reach out.
hope you have a lovely day on your end* and may it also be nature friendly <3
