Rear Mudguards: The Essential Protection for Your Motorcycle Rear mudguards, or rear fenders, protect your motorcycle from dirt, debris, and water kicked up by the rear tire. They prevent grime from hitting the bike and rider, keeping both cleaner and reducing wear on components. A well-designed rear mudguard also enhances the aesthetic appeal of your motorcycle. Sandhri Associates offers a wide range of durable rear mudguards to ensure your bike stays protected and stylish.

anyway fuck car drivers who don't look out for bikes, may they too be rear-ended by something four times their size
#it has been a fucking day ok#(I'm fine apart from a scrape down one leg and a mangled mudguard but I am absolutely seething about it)

Half term, so I just kept my head down and left it to the breeders and their feral kids this week. Easy enough to do guilt-free when it's cold and grey...but a quick ride yesterday morning spurred me to replace my front mudguard when I got home. The trails are drying out....a bit, but there's still too much kack making it past the old 26er mudguard that's migrated from bike to bike over the last few years. The replacement, an RRP Max, is certainly bigger but it's made of softer plastic. Less prone to breakage in a crash? Possibly, but lacking the sus fork brace attachment it's designed for, it's also floppier. In addition to the supplied zipties, I've stuck the side flaps to the inside of my fork legs with small squares of cushioned draught excluder. I suspect longer term I'll be drilling holes higher up the flaps to use additional zipties.

here's my dilemma. I'm going on a concert date. the venue is 1 hour 10 mins away by transit, 30 minutes by bike. it's raining, not so hard that it would really be uncomfortable to bike, but enough that I will show up wet and bedraggled and probably with a decent helping of mud all over me if I bike. to bike or to transit?
#leaning towards bike#just bc I'm hot enough that I think I can get away with looking like a drowned rat#and plus the return trip is going to suck ass if the concert goes even remotely late#but the mud might be a deadbreaker. unfortunately I don't have mudguards on my bike because I am stupid

I had a great conversation with Mr. Yui Takada at his exhibition in Beijing, where we collaborated to create a mudguard design.🏍 I depicted a figure with only a head and limbs, inspired by Mr. Takada's iconic symbol. This figure originated from two drawings he made as a child, and he has since revisited and reinterpreted this symbol in various ways, as if reconnecting with the curiosity and perspective of his youth. The concept of "human" bridges the gaze across time. After completing the design, Mr. Yui Takada asked me to write a sentence. I glanced at the keyboard and thought of this: "Press the 'r' key, and the first candidate in the input method is 'human'." (In Chinese pinyin input, simply pressing 'r' usually yields the character 'human'.)

Great colour shot of a German motorcyclist of the 110th Artillery Regiment on his DKW NZ 500. Winter, 1940, location unknown . Note the WH marker on the mudguard under the number plate. This is for Wehrmacht Heer (Armed Forces Army). Luftwaffe number plates were WL and Kriegsmarine plates were WM for Wehrmacht Marine (Armed Forces Navy)

The Tall Bobeus BMW R1100GS is a beast
MANIFY | 10 januari 2017 | Jorg Schapendonk | CREDITS: MARK MEISNER
Daan Borsjes, owner of Moto Adonis, received a request from tattoo artist Bobeus if they could build something that would suit his height and give him more riding comfort than his current motorcycle, a Honda CB750 . Agreeing that they should go for something bigger and better, the BMW G Series came out on top due to its gigantic frame. No sooner said than done. Bobeus bought a solid BMW R1100 GS from 1997 with few kilometers on the odometer, and then started working on the design together with Moto Adonis. The collaboration is mainly reflected in the tattoo-like curves in the frame. To give the motorcycle the badass look they were looking for, Miller Kustom Upholstery designed a brand new leather saddle. And to complete the rear, the Tall Bobeus is equipped with a handmade mudguard with Bates style brake lights and turn signals. What a beast!

Ford Fortyniner
The Ford Fortyniner. The car that, remarkably, saved Ford. Even though Ford should have made a lot of money through its war contacts, by 1947 the company was in dire financial straits and desperately needed a new car to capture the public's imagination and bank accounts. The 46/47/48 models were just reruns of the prewar cars and had become old fashioned and Henry Ford II was rushed into the top job to try and save the company. The Fortyniner was revoutionary. It was the world's first complete three box design (the famed 1947 Raymond Loewy designed Studebaker was really two and a half boxes as the boot was, in retrospect, half-hearted where as the 49er's was pretty much the same size as the bonnet) and the full length pontoon mudguards gave the car a futuristic look. There was nothing else like it — GM and Chrysler, like Studebaker — played it safe with the three box look, but Ford was totally committed. The centre spinner or bullet was the masterstroke. Mechanically it was upgraded with Ford waving goodbye to the old transverse leaf spring system that had served it since the first Model T.
It was a car to lust after. Sales boomed.
Oddly, one was entered for the 1949 Monte Carlo Rally. But then, so to was a British Ford V8 Pilot.

Ner-a-Car ca. 1924 Model “C “ 350 cc side valve Blackburne
During WW1 American Carl Neracher designed a motorcycle that should be clean, easy to operate, stable, comfortable and reliable. He came up with an unusual machine that was constructed more like a car than like a motorcycle; it had no frame but a chassis made of beams, 221 cc two stroke engine, friction drive and hub-centre steering. This rather unique means of transport was aptly named the Ner-a-Car. Nearacher had some trouble to find investors and manufacturers for his machine. In 1919 he signed an agreement with the British Sheffield Simplex firm to produce the Neracar for England and its Colonies, excepting Canada. Production started in 1921. Having found financial support in the USA as well, the Ner-a-Car Corporation started production in Syracuse, N.Y. in 1922. In November 1922 Cannonball Baker rode a Neracar from New York to Los Angeles, a distance of 5420 kilometres. He averaged 30 Km/h and used 2.7 litres of petrol per 100 kilometres. In less than 8 days he spent 179 hours in the saddle… In 1923 the model B with larger front mudguard and 285 cc engine was brought out in England. A year later the model C came out, powered by a 350 cc Blackburne engine and fitted with a conventional clutch and gearbox. This rare model “C”is unrestored." Source
