extremely specific work-related gripe that has been playing on repeat in my brain since yesterday:
Mudbox my betolerated, why you save paint layers as .tif's by default
#Mudbox my betolerated#3D artist#3D Art things#Mudbox#look I know Mudbox is the ginger step-cousin of the 3D art world but I can smudge on imported paint layers and the knife tool is so dope#meanwhile Zbrush gives you 32 brushes but all you'll ever need is Dam Standard and even that isn't the Mudbox knife tool#just let me have adjustable falloffs Zbrush PLZ#I imported Mudbox's texture alphas into Substance because they're so dope#Don't worry I use Zbrush for most of my other sculpting work#Y'all have too much loyalty to certain programs istg#.TIF doesn't even make sense in a high-fidelity 3D setting because it was designed for PRINTING#.TARGA if you want a lossless filetype with an actual dedicated Alpha channel jfc#Yeah I know .TGA is from 1980-something but .PNG is from 1997 so its not much better in the grand scheme of things#screaming into the ethernet#work-related screeching

Artist:Â Rafael Benedicto Title: Commander Shepard
âI am a big fan of the original Mass Effect trilogy. So I made my own design for Commander Shepard, along with my own gun designs and Omni-Blade
I used 3ds Max as my main 3d program. Mudbox was used to sculpt the organic, curvy designs on her face and armor, and then retopologized with Topogun. I used Substance Painter to create the edge and dust maps. These maps were then used for adding detail to the final V-Ray materials
I used V-Ray 3.5 for rendering and then final post-processing was done with Photoshopâ Wonderful resultâŚ

(Asajj Ventress Character Redesign by Walter Leon on ArtStation
"This is the final entry for the Star Wars Reimagined Challenge from CG , I decided to make a new version of Asajj Ventress, I worked on ZBrush, Maya, Mubox, VRay and Nuke. Hope you like it!"
--------------
Walter Leon's art can be found at ArtStation, Instagram and OnixArk)
Open Fandom RP (to all fandoms)
Asajj Ventress had died near the end of the Clone Wars. But she was found and later brought back to life. Becoming a cyborg and given a second chance at life. But instead of going into hiding, she decided to use this chance to fight the Empire, while working with your muse.
"We should hurry and get what we need before these Imperial cowards call their master," said Ventress who knew despite her being brought back and is still powerful, she has no chance against the Sith in charge. "I'd rather we didn't fight the Inquisitors or their master."

(â ââ ââ ââ ââ ââ ) I've never posted the kitty cat on here !!
It's a project I've done last year
Every year in my school the 2rd year learn Xgen with a project where we have to create an animal from scratch
As a loyal former Warrior Cats kid I obviously choose a cat
I used Blender, Mudbox, Maya, Xgen and Renderman !

Me: Now that my class is finished and things are settling down school-wise, I should focus on finishing up resizing the Wavelength head for SD bodies and work on that Nintendo Switch head prototype.
My hyperfixations: Use your new found Maya and Mudbox knowledge to make a Cult of the Lamb chess set.

Had my into to digital modeling class this term. And I was soooo close to getting bold with it. My first thought was 'I wanna make a market stall!'. Then I remembered how much trouble I had with Maya last term and realized....no, that'd probably be a terrible idea. So I scaled it waaaaay back and focused on a single mushroom potion and I am glad I did because this thing was a massive pain in the ass for a beginner like me :)
May the people who created Maya and Mudbox find a Lego in their slipper every day, forever.

3D Diorama: Final Update!
This thing is done. God damn.
I found I enjoyed doing all the hand painting of the textures and arranging and composing all the props - even making little tweaks from differences I noticed between the concept and project - but doing all that by hand like a caveman not so much. Also there is a reason why we use things like Substance Painter or 3D Coat or Mudbox. Also also, I will never do painted-on shadows again. Ever. The diorama itself isnât too bad, especially for my first shot at something like this, but I need to learn to work faster and more efficiently.
Will make breaky-downy, zoomy-inny post or two soon for the various props and stuff.
Made with Maya, Marmoset and Photoshop.

The Transformative Power of 3D Visual Art: Exploring Creativity in the Digital Age
In the ever-evolving world of art, 3D visual art has emerged as one of the most innovative and impactful forms of artistic expression. Combining technology with creativity, it allows artists to craft lifelike images, objects, and scenes that feel tangible and immersive. As digital technologies continue to advance, 3D visual art is reshaping the way we interact with the world around usâwhether itâs in the form of movies, video games, virtual reality experiences, or fine art installations.
What is 3D Visual Art?
3D visual art refers to any artistic creation that utilizes three-dimensional space, creating objects or scenes that appear to have depth, height, and width. Unlike traditional two-dimensional art forms such as painting or drawing, 3D visual art enables artists to design objects that can be viewed and experienced from various angles, making them more interactive and immersive.
While 2D art remains beloved for its flat, traditional qualities, the introduction of 3D visual art has expanded the possibilities for creative expression. Artists use specialized software tools, like Blender, Autodesk Maya, or ZBrush, to model, texture, and render three-dimensional objects. The final products can be experienced digitally on screens or physically, as in the case of 3D printing.
Types of 3D Visual Art
There are several types of 3D visual art, each with its own unique purpose and application. Here are the most common forms:
1. 3D Modeling: In this process, artists create digital models that represent objects, characters, or environments in a three-dimensional space. These models are often used in films, video games, and virtual reality. The models can be manipulated, rotated, and modified to achieve the desired look and feel.
2. 3D Animation: 3D animation brings models to life by adding movement and dynamics to them. This is a key component of animated films, games, and digital simulations. The process involves rigging characters (creating a skeleton structure), applying textures, and animating them to behave in realistic or stylized ways.
3. 3D Sculpting: 3D sculpting is similar to traditional clay sculpting, but it's done digitally using tools like ZBrush or Mudbox. This method is often used in character design for films and games, allowing artists to add intricate details to their creations.
4.3D Rendering: Rendering refers to the process of turning 3D models into high-quality images or animations. Rendering is essential for creating photorealistic visuals that can mimic real-life lighting, shadows, and textures, which is vital for industries like architecture, product design, and entertainment.
The Future of 3D Visual Art
As technology continues to advance, the future of 3D visual art looks incredibly promising. New tools and techniques are making it easier for artists to push creative boundaries, and emerging technologies like AI and machine learning are already being used to enhance the creative process.
For instance, AI-driven software can now help artists generate 3D models, animations, and textures, automating tedious tasks and giving them more time to focus on creative decision-making. With the increasing popularity of immersive media like VR and AR, 3D visual art is set to become even more interactive and experiential, offering new ways for artists and audiences to connect.
Conclusion
3D visual art is no longer just a niche practice used by a select few industries; it has become an essential part of the modern artistic landscape. From the entertainment world to architecture, product design, and beyond, the impact of 3D visual art is profound. As digital technologies continue to advance, this innovative art form will only grow in importance, offering endless opportunities for artists to express themselves and for industries to innovate.
Whether youâre a digital artist, a fan of immersive video games, or someone interested in the future of design, 3D visual art is a fascinating and dynamic field that promises to reshape the way we experience and interact with the world around us.
