Week 1 - About Me

This is going to be a difficult one, despite the fact that I am quite the talker, whenever someone asks me about myself I am usually at a loss. I think that this is because depending on the context of the situation I can act in a variety of ways. Because of this when I am asked “what is your favorite food” or “who is your favorite actor” I can’t ever seem to answer the question in a way that seems true. So for this journal I am going to opt in to giving mostly factual information about myself. 

My name is Jacob Daniel Muchenberger. I was born in West Allis, but I grew up in a town that is about 20 minutes Northwest of the Wis. Dells. I was born are the end of April, that makes me a Taurus (I don’t really believe in Astrology, but who knows). I currently hold two jobs, my first is for the Air National Guard, My second is for Mucks LLC. Mucks is a small business that I own, I do interior and exterior house painting at the moment. I have plans to expand into house inspections.

Actually Mucks LLC is one of the reasons I am taking this class. I do not have a logo for the company yet and I was hoping that this class could aid me in the creation of one. Another reason I am taking this course is because it is an art credit, and I am hoping to knock out most of my “Gen-eds” over the next year. I have no experience in graphic design at all. The last time I had any sort of formal education even remotely relating to Graphic Design it was 7th grade art.

I am not entirely sure what inspires me, I think that this is one of the questions I might not be able to answer completely accurately. But if I had to choose something that is inspiring it would for sure be landscapes, or sunsets/ rises. I’m not sure I would call it inspiring, but I have always thought it would be cool to be able to paint or draw them perfectly. I talk about painting or drawing them in particular because digital pictures are too perfect. The imperfections of paintings or drawings is what makes them better able to represent how it actually was.

To answer the final question asked this week I would like to talk about the pants I recently purchased. These aren’t just any pants they are Duluth Trading Company “Firehose” pants. Duluth Trading is a company that's brand is based on the extreme comfort of the clothing, particularly men’s clothing. And let me tell you, the design of these pants is nothing short of immaculate. First of all, they are cargo pants, so I have plenty of pocket space; there is even extra little pockets for things like screw drivers or pocket knives. Secondly, the material they are made out of is very stretchy. I can and have done many squats in them (mostly for demonstration purposes) and they have not torn once. Finally, the material is also hydrophobic, so water beads right off of it. There are many more benefits to owning this pair of pants; for the sake of the post let me just say that I can not think of one way that they do not exceed your average pair of blue jeans.
