it's crazy bc i feel like i cant remember any of the french lit i read for my degree studies like none of them stood out to me in any lasting way? at least not yet. but tht quote from the critic of biswas n hugo from les mains sales non récupérable live rent free in my brain n i did those at a level

#i feel kind of stupid abt hugo n les mains sales #bc i feel like i nvr grasped the political implications of it #n tbh i feel like i can nvr grasp the political implications of literature #bc like local political systems are hard enough to understand n i grew up here #much more foreign political systems tht are in like no way similar to ours #but it's like i love hugo #but I feel like thts like shallow n stupid bc of all the political implications or whatever #but also like it's not so bad when literature meets u where u are even if u cnt meet it where it is #i respect sartre n l'engagisme n all tht #but if i had to read les mains sales solely strictly within tht framework then i wldnt appreciate les mains sales #like sometimes what's so bad abt taking literature out of context n loving it for tht reason #ah whatever #cloud nonsense
