This is VERY UNLIKE ME, but here's some incredibly fast, EXTREMELY late-night meta on two dramas (Dangerous Romance and I Feel You Linger in the Air) from this TIRED mama, all before Only Friends later today!

(Y'all. I've missed being around this week! Moving and unpacking... I'll tell ya. It gets harder as I get older. Mostly because I/we have more stuff, and the BRAINS I need to figure out where this stuff should go is like, as mentally draining as it is physically draining to open boxes, unpack 'em, go up and down stairs -- damn. I have been COLLAPSING at night. Friends have been sending me meta to read -- @ranchthoughts, I see you, boo! <3 <3 The little peeks and breaks I've been getting have been giving me energy. I'm a little back on my bullshit now, and I can't wait to give Only Friends the full treatment tomorrow. But for now, quick notes!)

1) Dangerous Romance, episode 4: Listen, the friends covered a lot (here, here, and here -- @neuroticbookworm, @lurkingshan, @wen-kexing-apologist, all clowning correctly). WKA also notes that this show was written by Pratchaya Thavornthummarut and Bee Pongsate, two of the three writers of some of the best BLs ever -- Bad Buddy, My School President, Dark Blue Kiss, etc. When Bee and Pratchaya write WITHOUT Au Kornprom, as they did in BBS, MSP, and DBK -- things go a touch awry (cc @chickenstrangers, as we've talked about this before). Bee and Pratchaya, for instance, wrote Vice Versa, which I haven't watched, but I know the fam is mid on. (Remember when Aof Noppharnach had to come in to save 2gether by making Still 2gether? 2gether was written by Bee and Pratchaya -- Aof and Au joined in on the Still 2gether correction.)

ANYWAY, ALL OF THIS IS TO SAY that I should have been smarter about this show when I started in on it. It's directed in part by Lit Phadung, formerly of SOTUS, which is a fine show by nostalgia's standards! But like, not the height of drahmah.

So there's a lot of mid kinda swirling around here, and god, honestly, I'm kicking myself, because I should have been more sus. I should have been more sus!

Perth and Chimon are too good for this show. Not that I hate it! I don't hate the show, per se. It's just -- the first episode was so intense, so very issues-based, as all the dear friends noted, that to swerve towards a SUCH a gloopy romance plot was just... man, even SOTUS was WAY more clear in its plot than DR. (Dudes, I was chatting with @neuroticbookworm while I was watching this, and I was like, LOVE SICK HAD A MORE CONVINCING ROMANCE PACE THAN THIS. LOVE SICK!!!) DR is moving WAY too quickly towards the cheesiest of tropes, without the beef to back it up.

Anyway, from the energy vibes that Perth and Chimon are giving off, they should either 1) be making out by now, and/or 2) doing it by now, because like, WHOA, lots of staring, boys! LOTS of staring. And lemme tell ya, someone's staring at me like that, like in the clurb or something, and I'm like, yep, make-out time, right?! RIGHT?!

I am now officially watching this show, as I noted to @neuroticbookworm, literally to watch all the dear GMMTV celebs in here try to avoid a dumpster fire. (Where the hell is June?!) (At least Marc and Pawin are funny for like, the 10 seconds we see them.)

OH, ALSO?! What's the difference in Sailom becoming a sex worker vs. being bought out as a live-in tutor? Were we supposed to judge Sailom becoming an escort? Are we intentionally ignoring bias in socioeconomic gaps, writers? TOO MUCH TO ASK, TEAM! Too. much. to. ask.

I luv you, Perth and Chimon, I LUV YOU, BUT WHY. ANYWAY. MOVING ON.

2) I haven't written anything about I Feel You Linger in the Air yet because of LIFE (see above), and I was very wibbly about it when I started it, because you, your mother, MY mother, and MY MOTHER'S MOTHER all know about how sus I am on Tee Bundit (but I finally watched Lovely Writer and LOVED IT, so I am a touch less sus).

ANYWAY, thanks to the convincing of @lurkingshan and @neuroticbookworm to look past the slow pace of the first episode as accurate for a historical drama, I kept at it with IFYLITA. And I'm glad I did.

Now this? THIS IS A BL, BABY!

We got sexy typewriter scenes! Drawings of cutie widdle pigwets! Drunk falls! Red cheeks! Reading out loud! POETRY! FLOWERS! ENEMIES AND INTRIGUE! (I'm not happy about the marital rape, but unfortunately, I am thinking that is accurate for the time being portrayed.)

Admittedly -- god, Tee, the episodes are still a little long, my homey. A little long. BUT.

This show, as so many have noted, is just beyond gorgeous. The plumerias. I LOVE Ming and Maey. I LOVE THAT WE MAY HAVE A SAPPHIC SUB-PLOT.

But I also appreciate that only four episodes in, we haven't forgotten that this is a time travel show, in the midst of the budding romance. My thinking on that out-of-body experience on Jom's part was Jom flirting with consciousness after the present-day car crash. But who knows.

I like that Jom is making the connections with those drawings he found in that chest -- and that, lol, he was asking Prik questions about the architecture. Even though Yai's dad seems like a bad dude, I have faith that Tee Bundit is going to keep Nu Surasak going as a good BL dad/dude -- fingers crossed.

I am just -- I am loving where this show is going to go. The house is worried about Yai. I like the way the scent about Yai's preferences is a lot more muted in 1920s Thailand than it would be as set in the present-day. I just think that's totally accurate for what I would call an "old-fashioned" Asian perspective now. I'm very intrigued to see how a historical drama like this will wrestle with homophobia, as this is my first period BL, and -- I'm just excited to see where it'll go.

The acting is GREAT, the pace of the romance is GREAT, the pace of the filming is still slow, but I can't believe I'm saying this -- I'll continue to forgive it for now. Tee, please, PLEASE don't fail us, because you have something GREAT going on here. Yai, head over HEEEELLLLSSS for Jom, is just -- it's a wonder to see, and I am fully on this roller coaster palanquin ride.

(Also, hey, TWO DRAMAS where dudes were PAID to live with their crushes. K!)

(Oh, also, definitely, next time I'm at a clurb, in like, 20 years, I am definitely ordering an URN of liquor with a ladle. Like a baijiu urn. Fuck yeah. What a LOOK.)

TAMassociati takes part in redesigning the future of Bellinzona (Switzerland)

A large-scale masterplan rethinks the heart of the cantonal capital, projecting it towards a generational time frame. It introduces new elements of research and the idea of a gradual development in the name of all-round sustainable regeneration. And it’s future-proof.

Porta del Ticino – Urban Living Lab is the project developed by a visionary team made up of sa_partners, TAMassociati and Franco Giorgetta Landscape Architect, laying out the path to follow for the future planning of the large site (120,000sqm) in Bellinzona.

Presented by the authorities to the citizens on 22 October, the plan outlines the development of a large part of the urban territory, today dominated by the major industrial complex of the Officine Bellinzona, the most important heavy-industry company in the whole Canton. For 130 years it has been the city’s economic driving force and within a few years it will be moved outside the built-up area.

The green impulse

The proposed study (a Parallel Study Mandate commissioned by the Canton, Municipality and SBB-Swiss Railways), in competition with 5 other international teams) articulates the former Officine SBB complex as three large belts along the site’s longitudinal axis.

At the centre, the elaborate urban layout will be dominated by the Almenda, a large public green lung, conceived both as a local green infrastructure and (with its 6.4 ha of biotic area and 3.2 ha of agricultural area) to offset the future industrial development outside the city. The Almenda will be the new, powerful urban landmark, a fertile ground of biodiversity and natural climate control for the city, at the sides of which the complex of structures will develop as a settlement.

It will also constitute the visual and ideal connection between Bellinzona Castle (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the so-called ‘Cathedral’ (the imposing industrial stone building, an icon of the factory) which together embody the city’s history and identity.

Along the perimeters of this renaturalized area bounded by large trees and vertical greenery – in which the railway lines and 3 buildings of historical value will remain – is planned a building development conceived as autonomous blocks, extremely flexible and capable of meeting the needs of phasing and new scenarios as they evolve.

A ‘green kilometre’ will be created, in symbiosis with the city, to link the river and the mountain along the north-south route, with a built-up area characterized by the complementary functions of a commercial, managerial, administrative, educational and advanced research type.

Municipal and cantonal uses, including schools and the innovation park, as well as cooperative housing, will be laid out around the ‘Cathedral’ and beside the tracks, while residential uses and services will be concentrated in the west.

The project envisages a balanced development of typologies, standards and architectures, in keeping with a logic of supply of diversified housing for the community of Bellinzona and the new citizens that the project will attract. An open system is envisaged, also capable of accommodating types of innovative hybrid residences (cohousing , senior cohousing, temporary + affordable housing, mixed use lofts, etc.).

Phasing

“The development of the neighbourhood will take place through various temporal phases, to avoid any dependence between the new buildings and the existing ones.” The phasing of the plan is feasible outside of pre-conditioned sequences and with a low dependence between the various parts of the project, whose development also envisages prospects for modular growth at variable speeds, while still guaranteeing high socio-environmental value and quality.

Conceived with a systemic and non-linear approach, the path of transformation passes through scenarios and verificatory feedback, offering a vision of development with clear yet open and flexible rules.

In fact, the plan proposed envisages the possibility that, depending on the economic/social scenarios that will arise in the future, the project could develop around the Almenda at different speeds and densities. A scenario that ranges from low building density with very high biotic density to a highly variable system of massing buildings based on some fixed constructional and identitarian invariants of an agricultural, aquatic, communitarian, logistic and innovative character.

Innovation and sustainability

Thanks to the research and experimentation conducted for some years, the team is able to foresee new approaches to construction compatible with the project’s timing, making use of new generations of ‘good’ microbial technologies that will regulate the generation of energy and the treatment of water and waste, as well as much else. Experimentation continues into new generations of living and engineered construction materials, powered by clean energy, capable of keeping environments healthy and resilient through microbial processes and influencing the microbiome through the design of buildings and human interaction.

The project envisages eMergetic evaluation (the set of all resources directly or indirectly invested to achieve something) of the whole lifecycle of the buildings or settlements. This is an innovative tool capable of directing the project towards simpler, more efficient energy choices, and under control as situations change (availability of primary resources, climate change, geopolitical changes…).

From the use of the construction site itself as an urban mine of material to strategies for halving water consumption, the careful policy of recycling materials, the creation of a naturalistic habitat, accessibility and gentle mobility, planned energy policy objectives, progressive actions aimed at achieving zero-emissions, 100% renewable energy, the introduction of innovative energy-storage systems and environmental monitoring certifications with active contributions to climate vulnerability, the project as a whole proposes a very high level of overall sustainability, whether the development prospects are fulfilled in future or risk scenarios arise.

An exemplary vision

The College of Experts, called on to assess the contents proposed by the competing teams, unanimously chose the office Porta del Ticino – Urban Living Lab as pointing out the path to follow for future planning of the sector.

“An exemplary vision of one of the last major sites in southern Switzerland, which has inspired the whole College of Experts,” which described the “courageous urban and landscape gesture” as convincing, the “sensitivity shown in the location and arrangement of the buildings” as appreciable, “The permanence and enhancement of the historical heritage” as relevant, “the important ecological analysis” as notable, and the plan that makes “transformation and the sequence of implementation adaptable to future scenarios” as far-sighted.

Four Steps to Help Your Clients Find Their ‘Why’

Coaches often encourage changes in behavior to help clients reach their goals. Makes sense. The only problem, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, is that it doesn’t always work.

But what if we change the frame, and instead of trying to fix their actions, we focus on their goals? Not the goals they tell you about, like what they want to look like in the mirror. You’re looking for their “why”—the true reason they want to make those changes.

A real why is more complex than, say, dropping 20 pounds. Finding it takes time and requires the kind of emotional unpacking few clients are willing to do on their own.

It sounds daunting, and it is. But it also gets to the heart of your job as a coach: to motivate clients. Nothing motivates people quite like finding their why.

Once they understand it, they’ll get better results, and their results are good for your bottom line. You’ll see better retention and more referrals.

Three examples of misplaced motivation

A client who hasn’t found their why will probably come to you with goals like these:

“I want to lose XX pounds”

I once had a client who said she wanted to lose weight. But when I asked her why, and pushed her to dig a little deeper, she revealed the true reason: Her daughter had told her she was too overweight to babysit her grandchild alone.

“Ten times out of 10 they don’t just want to lose weight,” says Jonathan Stuart, owner of OPEX Mount Sinai in New York. “Weight loss is not a purpose or an intention or a why.”

It’s easier to state a superficial goal than to admit to you, or even to themselves, why they need to change, and why they need to change now.

In my client’s case, clarifying that her real goal was to spend more time with her grandchild turned out to be a powerful motivator.

“I want to do this specific exercise”

Another client was adamant about doing a pull-up. But then she never did the supplemental exercises I gave her to do on her own. If that was her real goal, why blow off the homework?

It took some digging, but eventually she realized she only focused on doing a pull-up because she thought it would prove her worth to her athletic father. She was chasing something she thought she should want, rather than a goal with actual meaning to her.

This “a-ha!” moment helped relieve her feelings of inadequacy. She learned to embrace her worth regardless of her ability to do a pull-up, and her commitment to fitness actually increased.

“I want this thing I’ve always wanted”

Here’s a personal example that I’ll bet a lot of personal trainers can relate to. I’d been a competitive athlete my whole life. I competed in basketball and rowing in college, and then I turned to CrossFit, which led me to the CrossFit Games in 2014.

For a long time after that, I told myself I needed to train hard and get back to that level. But I slacked off week after week. Beating myself up about it just made training joyless.

It took me two years to realize my priorities had shifted. I no longer wanted to train twice a day for hours at a time. An hour a day was all I wanted or needed for physical and mental health. Once this clicked for me, my love for training was reborn.

That’s the power of finding your why. These four steps will help you help your clients.

Step 1: Create opportunity for real conversation

Group fitness is fun, but nobody is going to share their recent diabetes diagnosis in a room with 15 people. And while personal training is more intimate, it’s still tough to dig into deep issues between squats.

That’s why Stuart sets aside time with his clients specifically for lifestyle consults. It creates a chance for real conversation.

Arrange to meet with your client, one-on-one, in a private space. Limit distractions and arrive with a clear head, because you’re going to want to pay careful attention.

“Not pseudo-attentiveness,” says Stuart. “Real awareness of the person in front of you.”

Step 2: Ask the hard questions

You probably don’t like prying into your clients’ personal lives. But that’s often what it takes to help them unpack their emotional pain, which is essential for finding their why.

When you do, it’s best to be direct. Don’t try to beat around the bush. If, for example, your client says she thinks she’ll be happier and more confident if she loses 20 pounds, ask, “Why do you believe that?” or “How did you come to that conclusion?”

The goal, Stuart says, is to help the client “restore a connection that’s been lost and forgotten.”

Other questions to consider:

Where has that helped you or hurt you?

Do you believe you’re capable of change?

What’s the source of your biggest stress?

What do you value most in life?

Step 3: Understand it’s a long game

If your client opens up in your one-on-one, great. But most of the time, unpacking pain and developing trust takes time, probably more than you have in one meeting.

Consider this example from veteran trainer Michael Pilhofer, owner of MSP Fitness in Minnesota.

One of his clients, we’ll call her Megan, took two years to find her real purpose. She talked about her body composition from time to time, and said she wanted to lose weight, but could never stick to a plan. Her interest and compliance would fade, and they stopped talking about that goal.

That all changed when Pilhofer decided to dig deeper.

He asked Megan if there was ever a time when she liked what she saw in the mirror. She said that, years before, she had gone on a strict diet, lost weight, and dropped to a size 8.

As she shared this, she broke down, revealing that even then—even when she’d reached her goal weight—she still hated what she saw in the mirror.

Through tears, she explained that growing up, her father had been overweight and was never much of a dad. He couldn’t move well and was unable to join in activities with her. Now, as an adult, she still associated food and weight with her unfulfilling relationship with her dad.

“She was scared she’d become her father to her kids,” Pilhofer says. “It wasn’t about losing weight at all. It was so much bigger than that.”

If you don’t feel like you’re getting anywhere with your client, be patient. Building trust takes time.

Step 4: Reframe the concept of discipline

When clients fall short of their goals, they usually assume they lack self-discipline. I believed that too, until I read “The Myth of Discipline” by the late Charles Poliquin.

As Poliquin saw it, discipline doesn’t exist. What does exist is love:

“You are the result of what you love most. You either love finely etched muscular abs more than donuts, or you love donuts more than washboard abs. Thank you Madam Chair and thanks for the very interesting interventions.   I want to say, before I start, that my presentation is not intended as a criticism of the many people who choose to work closely with companies in Multi Stakeholder Partnerships – I am absolutely convinced that everyone who has spoken does so for the right reasons.

However, my presentation is based on IBFAN’s 40 years of advocacy for strong laws, UN resolutions, codex standards and guidelines that aim to improve transparency, address conflicts of interest and end harmful and misleading marketing while facilitating the right to adequate food. IBFAN’s concerns are shared by the CSM and many other public interest NGOs, movements and networks.

So, I will come straight to the point on one thing that everyone must agree,  whether they take money or not: multinational corporations have played, and continue to play, a major role in the harm caused to human and planetary health. What I suspect we disagree on is whether working in partnership with them and accepting financing from corporations ­– especially food companies, since we are here at CFS – is a wise thing to do.

In our experience, governments attempting to retain, improve and adopt effective policies,  face fierce opposition from the food industry to weaken their provisions. This is a fact and we will be going to Codex next month and we will see this happening again. Even though, when properly monitored and implemented,  these laws save thousands, possibly millions of lives.

The CSM values its role in the CFS, an important inclusive inter-governmental consultative body, where governments remain the decision makers.  However, at every turn we see the promotion of Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships as the answer to malnutrition, despite the fact that even the HLPE report states that there is little evidence of their efficacy. We believe this is a huge risk that will take us all in entirely the wrong direction. Indeed, we see the risk of governments and the UN being reduced to the role of facilitator, rather than the primary actors in addressing malnutrition. 

I’m going to take two examples that we’ve looked at:  the Scaling up Nutrition (SUN) and the European Commission Platform for Diet Physical Activity and Health.

But first let me point out that any MSP focused on nutrition that involves the food industry will invariably place great emphasis on innovation, micronutrients and fortification. Rarely is it acknowledged that this can undermine confidence in real, minimally processed, biodiverse and culturally appropriate food. All too often the sngle nutrients are promoted with claims while the multiple nutrients in breastmilk or fresh foods come with no such commercial promotion. 

We have done a 3-country study on SUN  and this revealed many other problems. For example, we found:

A lack of adequate accountability procedures and a lack of truly independent monitoring. Indeed, if things go wrong no one can be held accountable.

SUN’s Conflict of Interest policy is inadequate and confusing. It focuses on trust and collaboration rather than the need for caution.

There is no requirement for democratic scrutiny of the implications for governance before countries join SUN. So, no Parliamentary vote or anything.

Regarding the EU Platform, along with 6 other leading NGOs, IBFAN has left because the Platform completely failed to achieve its aims.  Instead of focusing on curbing marketing, the corporate members would challenge much needed proposals – focusing instead on funding nutrition education in their efforts to appear a benign force. 

So we ask the following questions to all those in this room hoping to join or create an MS Partnership  at country level:

Do you have adequate safeguards in place to stop undue corporate access and  influence on public food and nutrition policies?

Do you think the MSP will speed up or slow down the progressive realization of the right to adequate food?

Will the MSP make it easier or more difficult for the promotion of strategies that address the root causes of malnutrition:   unequal power, poverty, land grabbing, harmful marketing –  these sort of things?

Finally I would like to add two points:

Just to be wary of terminology. The word ‘Partnership’  by definition, implies arrangements for ‘shared governance’ to achieve ‘shared goals’ – where shared decision-making is a unifying feature. Can I suggest we use instead  ‘corporations funding government programmes’ – that’s straightforward and to the point. 

Lastly, we hope the UN Secretary-General will end the recently signed Strategic Partnership Agreement with the World Economic Forum.  Nearly 300 civil society organizations and networks, believe this will risk delegitimizing and weakening the role of UN system in global decision-making.

How Clothing is Released

OurWorld: OurWorld has a super store with items that can be bought year round by any user. They release limited clothing at every holiday (Valentines, Easter, Summer, Halloween and Winter/Christmas.) These items are available for about month or two before they are taken off the store. OurWorld also has mystery boxes. Mystery boxes are packs filled with items based off of a central theme. For example, the Anubis box (Ancient Egypt), the Clockwork Box (Steampunk) and the Light/Dark boxes (angels and demons.) Some mystery boxes are updated every year with new items, like the Bento box, and others are only available for a limited time. (You can get past items through Zoe’s Club/Auctions but they are extremely expensive.)

Fantage: Fantage has these things called events, where they release a theme that has limited items and games that go with it. These events last about 2 weeks and have a PM set (items that people with membership can buy with stars) and a non-PM set (items that anyone can buy with gold.) Fantage occasionally updates their item catalogs and adds three new outfit sets every couple of weeks.

MovieStarPlanet: MSP updates their site every Thursday with a new event theme. After the theme is replaced, the items get added with the other items from older themes. Some themes are limited and their items become rare after the theme goes away (Halloween and Christmas theme.)

Marketplace/Trading

OurWorld: oW probably has the best trading system out of all of the sites. Every item has an MPA, or a market price average. This determines the items worth. The MPA of an item goes up and down depending on the price people are selling it in coins and the MPA of the items people are accepting for it. Users use the MPA as a guide to trade up to the items they want. It’s easier to trade when the items have a determined value than trying to figure out it’s worth by speculation.

Fantage: Fantage has redone their marketplace a couple times. The first one they had was called Trade n’ Sell (which is pretty self-explanatory.) Fantage had shut it down due to the high amount of users getting scammed. It was replaced by MyMall which brought a new in-game currency with it. You can only sell items in MyMall and as of right now only premium members can put up items to buy.

MovieStarPlanet: MSP currently doesn’t have a marketplace, but there is still a way for users to trade with each other. Because users can gift items directly from their inventory, some people ignore the trading feature in an attempt to scam others.

Forums

OurWorld: oW has a forum that's separate from the live game. Your account must be 13+ in order to use it. Not too many users actively use it (it still has a lot of people on it, just not as many people as the live game.) Most threads are about some aspect of the game. Members of oW’s development team can be seen posting and you can ask them questions.

Fantage: Fantage’s forums are built into the live game and are called Clubhouses. From there, they are split up into topics (music, anime, tv shows, etc.) There’s seems to be a looser filter on the forums, as you can get away with a hell/damn. You can also upload pictures.

MovieStarPlanet: MSP’s forum has no moderation (or direct moderation at least.) You can usually find memes and funny posts here. Like a Facebook shitposting page. Forumers are kind of separate from the other users on the site. They usually only use the forums and can be controversial/drama-mongering.

The word clouds below compare the top 50 terms (excluding frequently used terms) featured in the high ranked tweets by the @Conservatives (blue) with those used in the @jeremycorbyn (red) tweets.

The most striking difference is “Brexit”. This is the #1 term in the @Conservatives tweets and doesn’t even feature in the top 50 of the Jeremy Corbyn tweets.

In fact the term appeared in less than 2 per cent of his tweets during the campaign.

In contrast Brexit appeared in 44 per cent of @Conservatives account tweets.

It's viral nature demonstrated by the 135,000 retweets and likes it received, dwarfing creator Ben Skipper's 2,000 followers.

The application had been dormant since the Tweetsdistilled experiment was ended back in February.

Data and analysis

PoliticsUKTD’s results were based on the tweets of thousands of the top influencers in relation to UK Politics from right across the political spectrum. During the campaign period (18th April 2017 - 7th June 2017 inclusive) these influencers tweeted over 3 million times, including retweeting and replying to over 200,000 other accounts.

The Tweetsdistilled application tracked every tweet in real time, seeking out the ones that looked to have the most potential for influence. This assessment is based on a number of factors including who is reacting and the scope and velocity of that reaction.

This means to rank highly a tweet needs to be getting the attention of a lot of influential people, the wider Twitter community or preferably both.

Out of these 3 million tweets over 27,000 (around 500-600 per day) were rated of high significance. Based on an analysis of key terms used over 14,000 tweets from 2,756 different Twitter accounts were assessed as directly or indirectly related to the campaign. Between them these tweets were retweeted or liked over 21.2 million times.

NB: Unsurprisingly, a signficant number of high rated tweets in the campaign period were related to the tragic events in Manchester and London. Tweets that referenced parties and/or their leaders in relation to the attacks were included within the 14,000+ tweets used to produce the lists.

We summarised the 14,000+ high rated tweets into three Top 100 lists. To qualify for consideration an account needed to have a minimum of four tweets rated as high significance with an aggregate retweet and like count of greater than 1,000.

We wanted you to get to know our team a little better! Here’s 5 Questions with Jake Revers, Director of Business Development here at STEADfast.

#1: What’s your name and title? 

My name is Jake Revers and I’m the Director of Business Development at STEADfast IT.  

#2: How long have you been working at STEADfast and what are your primary responsibilities?

I’ve been at STEADfast for a little more than a year now. My role with the company is focused on new business development and customer engagement to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. ​

​#3: What do you enjoy about the work you do at STEADfast?

The people. I enjoy the people that I work with and get to have conversations with daily. To sit down and understand the challenges business and individuals are faced with daily and to be able to come up with a solution or direct them to a partner to help solve those challenges is very fulfilling. My goal for every conversation that I have is to walk away knowing that I helped that individual in some way, shape or form. If I don’t have the solution – I know someone who does!

#4: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of being a father to three amazing kids, I’m an avid outdoorsman. There is something about being connected with mother nature that I can’t explain. I love to hunt and fish but more so to immerse myself in my surroundings and use my senses to really become a part of nature. It’s amazing how many things are actually going on around you once you become aware.

#5: What’s your favorite book, movie or podcast? 

With all the time I spend on the road, I take advantage of that time to reflect on myself and listen to podcasts. My favorite is the Ed Mylett Show. His podcast inspires you to be a better person in so many ways. He extracts information from his interviews and relates it not only our everyday lives, but to his own as well is a talent second to none. His tactics and strategies are tools to help you transform your body, mind business and/or family.
