Throughout the years I have been lucky to have some amazing teachers, educators and professors. I'm going to take a second to tell you guys about a teacher who even though I hadn't seen in a long time and maybe we had one or 2 convos since she went to a different school, I never forgot her . Why? Because she was always checking in on me when I was no longer her student . It was because of her dedication and belief in the art of teaching that she still continues to do now, that I can literally write this. She pushed me into full English courses by second grade, she taught me about probability with MnMs, she taught how to tell time on a big clock , when we did good for the day our reward was a "gumball" sticker and once we collected 15 we got to pick a prize from the treasure chest. She was my 1st grade teacher and she was the first female besides my mom that I always felt like I needed to do good for. Today I randomly stopped by her new school to visit... And catch up.... She was suprised 😋👍 ...I'm never losing contact again :) #favteacherinelementary #thankful #loveyoualways #MsOlson

First day of school vibes! All the kiddos got a “red carpet” welcome this morning and a dance party when they arrived at school! I was so excited to finally meet my fifth graders! They were absolutely awesome! We got to play some great collaboration games (the paper towel one here was made up on the spot haha) they had to see who could make the tallest tower! They also got to make self portraits and then do a Venn diagram with a friend to see what they have in common. Then they presented their findings to the class :) couldn’t have asked for a better and more exciting first day!

Teaching Podcasts

Over the past week or so I've been indulging in teaching podcasts! I love The Cult of Pedagogy and Talk with Teachers! So many great speakers and topics covered. Two I've really loved so far was building relationships with students and a talk with Utah's 2014 teacher of the year :) what I love about podcasts is that I can listen to them on my drives, while I'm doing chores around the house, and while I'm working on my Master's Classwork :) I usually jot down ideas I hear in a notebook and look them up later!
