I mentioned previously that I headcanoned that the graveyard gangaling started going to online school after the phantom dimension so here are more reasons why.
Ashlyn would become extremely anxious everyday before school due to being scared that her teacher would be similar to Mr. Thomas/Maverick; leading to intense anxiety attacks to the point she could barely go to school by that point.
Most of the twins’ classes were separate, and they often became distressed as it reminded them of being separated(season two finale).
They all became a lot more dependent on each other, and so they would become stressed when one or more was missing without an explanation or warning.
#i kinda ran out sorry#i just really liked the ashlyn one#these are all headcanons btw!!#none of this is canon!!#school bus graveyard#sbg#ashlyn banner#ashlyn sbg#aiden clark#aiden sbg#sbg ashlyn#sbg aiden#taylor hernández#taylor hernandez#taylor sbg#sbg taylor#tyler hernandez#tyler hernández#tyler sbg#sbg tyler#ben clark#ben sbg#sbg ben#mr. thomas#mr. thomas sbg#sbg mr. thomas#mr thomas#sbg mr thomas#mr thomas sbg#thomas walter

~ My SBG DR intro
⋆˚࿔ Céline “Lin” Walker is a Franco-American 15 year old born in NYC. She and her family moved to Alto, Georgia in 2016 because of her dad’s business.
Céline Walker was born and grew up in Manhattan, New York, so it was a big change for her to love to Alto, Georgia; it’s not easy transitioning from a noisy city to a small, quiet town. Originally the Walker family was planning on moving to the state capital, Atlanta, since it was closer to Mr. Walker’s work, but they changed their minds in the last minute, wanting a more peaceful place to live.
On the first day of school, Céline felt like she was walking on eggshells the whole day since it was her first time in a public school and she didn’t really know how things worked here. She wasn’t hopeful on making friends straight away, but to her luck Taylor Hernández seemed determined to talk her ears off. And Céline, not having anything else to do, followed Taylor around like a lost puppy. That’s how the new girl ended up in Taylor’s group in history class.
About Céline Walker:
- she prefers going by Lin bc she’s tired of people stereotyping her as “the French girl” bc of her name
- she loves gardening, reading, drawing and spending time in the kitchen
- she does martial arts
- she hates dogs. she’s not scared of them, just doesn’t like them (this was the cause of quite a lot of arguments)
- hates school even tho she’s really smart

Some small stuff about the group:
- Tyler hates having his hair in his face so he often wears headbands (after the group got closer)
- Ash is autistic, Aiden is ADHD
- Ben’s fav artist is Shawn Mendes
- Taylor got the whole group into F1 and MotoGP
- Logan brought over some plants to the school bus graveyard (in the normal dimension)
- I keep making everyone friendship bracelets (they lowkey love it)
Some of these are inspired by @astro-can ‘s sbg actor au

╰┈➤ ⋆。‧˚ʚ 🥀 ɞ˚‧。⋆
Something was off sbout Tyler, he was more grumpy then usual and has been avoiding you for a bit. You weren’t stupid, you knew why he was so distant but you didn’t care much about it. It wasn’t like you two were together and he didn’t bother asking you to be more then just a friend, so you kept your usual flirty personality. Everyone knew it was just playful jokes, most people going along with it or just laughing it off which you were happy for. You thought more about Tyler, remembering the time he kissed you after one of his matches. It was like those typical american high school movies, which was cheesy as hell but so what? You got a kiss from Tyler Hernández! You missed it dearly, but you weren’t the type of person to go beg for peoples attention. You were currently at your house with the rest of the group in your room. You were talking about plans for the weekend since it was friday and you were all bored out of your mind. You and Aiden were playfully sending winks and kisses, giggling about it like 12 year old girls but Tyler was really not having it.
To say he was fuming was an understatement, but like always he didn’t do anything about it. You excuse yourself and go to the kitchen downstairs, grabbing yourself a glass of water when you hear footsteps approaching. You put the cup down and you suddenly get turned around quite harshly, an angry Tyler before you. “What the fuck is up with you and Aiden?” He asks and you look at him with a smirk. “What? Is Mr. Hernández jealous?” You say and he glares, shutting you up. “You fucking like him don’t you?” He asks and you shrug; “And if I did? We aren’t dating Tyler so it’s none of your business.” You say and try to walk away but he had a firm grip on you.
He looked devastates but tried to hide it, collecting his thoughts before speaking up; “Okay, don’t expect a long speech, I’m not good at those, but I really like you Y/N and I wanted to let you know, I just never knew when or how i’d do it.” He confesses, standing there looking embarrassed. He let your arm go and looked you in the eyes, he wasn’t necessarily glaring but he did have a very serious expression on his face. “Yeah alright, I love you too Ty, I finally got you to say it.” You tease and his eyes widen and he hits you playfully; “You were just trying to make me say it cuz you were too embarrassed to do so yourself!” He blames and you giggle, running out the room and back upstairs. He ran after you and everyone stared at the two of you. Tyler had a hand on your was and you rested your head on his shoulder, sitting on your bed. “Finally, I was afraid my very good acting skills were going to waste.” Aiden spoke up and everyone erupted in laughter, Tyler just grumbling some swears cussing Aiden out.
You chuckled softly and all of you joked for the rest of the night, finally having fun like normal teens before everyone decided it was a good time to go home. You waved everyone goodbye, Taylor and Tyler staying behind for a few more minutes longer. Taylor waited outside, giving you both some privacy before you parted ways for the day. Tyler hugged you, clinging to you like a little boy to his mother and you patted his back softly, running a hand through his dark hair. He looks at you and kisses your nose, smiling at you, a genuine, happy smile before waving you goodbye; “Good night mi amor, stay safe alright?” He says making you chuckle; “I’m not going anywhere Ty don’t worry nothing will happen to me, i’ll text you if anything happens yeah?” You reassure and he nods, walking out the door. You watch them leave before closing the door and run to your bedroom, laying down on your bed and kick your feet like a mad woman. You finally had someone that loved you, cared for you. Love really was a great feeling.

a/n: i'm literally on my way out of the house but i wanted to post this little ficlet while we're still firmly in february because it feels so wintery to me hahah 😌 also @writing-for-marvel you sent this gif to me one and a half years ago so shout-out to you being the most patient person on the planet ily
masterlist | read on ao3
Here's what Andy knows about his new neighbor:
She lives in the apartment right above his, and even though he barely heard her moving in, just a couple of weeks after he signed his own lease, she seems to love rearranging her furniture in the middle of the night. The music she listens to is loud and annoying and keeps getting stuck in his head when he's supposed to focus on paperwork.
And right now, she's struggling to get her groceries out of her car.
It's way too early for a day off, but he's not been sleeping well on the new mattress. He’s missing the perfectly broken in softness of his old bed, and combined with the incessant noise of the cars and the sirens outside, he can count the hours of sleep he’s been getting with one hand.
There’s been a lot of change in his life after years in the suburbs, and he's frankly too old for all of this. But he needed the fresh start.
So he's on his third cup of coffee as he looks out of the window, watching the new neighbor in her bright winter jacket as she tries to balance another plastic bag on top of the stack of boxes she's compiled in the trunk.
She's pretty, his brain supplies, but he swallows the thought down with his coffee. The divorce has only just gone through. It's way too early for anything like that. Besides; there's such a thing as too much baggage.
One of the bags rips open and the neighbor curses so loud Andy can hear it through the closed window. He waits for a beat, takes in the scene unfolding on the parking lot outside, and then his mug clanks against the metal of the sink and he's grabbing his keys and his coat and pulling the door closed behind him.
"D'you need help?"
Her head swivels around, her eyes widening slightly as she sees him coming towards her, groceries still spilled all over the car and the melting snow. Like a breadcrumb trail of canned beans and tofu.
"That's alright," she says with a huff of air that forms a steam cloud in front of her face. "I don't have far."
"I know," he says, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "I’m 3B."
"Oh. Hi. Sorry, I meant to introduce myself properly once I'm all moved in, but then …" She trails off, but he gets it. He's only introduced herself to Mrs Hernández down the hall because he kept bumping into her at the elevator and it got awkward.
"That's alright. I'm Andy."
She says her name with a smile and he has to remind himself that he still has a tan line on his ring finger; even though it's starting to blur in the cool winter sun, blending into his skin quicker than he'd thought possible.
"Let me get that," he offers again, and this time she doesn't protest. Two pairs of hands and eyes are far quicker than one, after all. "Are you having a party or something?" he asks once everything is packed up in plastic bags again and they each carry two inside.
"Uhm, no. I have a dog, though, and some friends coming over on Saturday. But we'll try to keep it down!"
"Don't worry about it. It's good you're christening the place. I mean—" He coughs uncomfortably. "I'll be out of town anyway. Work conference."
"Oh, really. What do you do?" Bright, keen eyes study him like he’s being flayed layer by layer, a particularly interesting specimen.
He swallows and holds the elevator door open. "I'm a lawyer."
It's not that he particularly misses the stress of being district attorney; still, it'd been everything he'd worked for for most of his professional life. And then, just like that, within a single year both his job and his family were ancient history.
Anyway. A couple of weeks of retraining courses and now it's back to low-stakes cases of insurance fraud and tax evasion. It's better this way.
That’s what he tells himself in those long hours when he’s supposed to be sleeping.
"Very fancy," she says, and he supposes it sounds that way if you leave out all the important bits of backstory. "I could never. Not smart enough for that kind of stuff."
"I highly doubt that," he says without really knowing why. It earns him a smile. "What do you do?"
"I'm a florist. My best friend and I own Letters and Leaves on—"
"Arlington Street."
That gets him another, brighter smile. "You know it?"
He does. He's often wondered about it actually, a small shop selling books and flowers that's nestled between a chain restaurant and a pharmacy. There's always fresh bouquets out on the window sills, and a handwritten sign promoting new releases and book talks.
"It's on my way to the office."
"Well, you should come by sometime. I'll give you a neighbor discount."
"How much's that?"
A moment’s hesitation as her eyes flit down his body and meet his gaze again. "Depends on what you buy."
The elevator dings for his stop, and he wants to curse it.
"Thanks for your help, Andy," she says and suddenly the bags are out of his hands and he’s been dismissed.
He clears his throat. "My pleasure."
With a nod, he steps out of the elevator and she gives him a small, friendly wink as the doors close. There's something odd happening to the inside of his chest as he returns to his still-too-empty apartment and picks up his cup of coffee again.
It's gone cold.
He looks out the window again, at the two trails of footprints in the snow outside. The sun’s come out now, and they’re already beginning to melt together until it’s impossible to tell them apart at all.
A couple of minutes later, the music is turned on upstairs. He can't help it: It makes him smile.
thank you so much for reading!! see, i will save every ask i get, i'm just very, very slow when it comes to actually writing them lmao

Hii, I saw you were writing for sbg now, could you do a Tyler x reader where they’re studying and the reader falls asleep on his shoulder (fox, one shot, whatever you want) thanks
Of course I can! Ty and Aiden are literally my world lol
genre : fluff
type : one shot
TYLER HERNÁNDEZ x FEM! READER
A/n : Hello hello anon! I hope you enjoy this as much as I did while writing it! I’m so sorry if he’s a bit ooc because I’m still trying to navigate all of the characters traits and behaviors! Enjoy ^^

You and Tyler have been together ever since you were moved to Mr. Thompson’s class and grouped with Ashlyn and the rest of the gang for the group project. Then rolled around the Savanna trip. Ever since then, Tyler has been super protective over you and that's basically how you guys got into this relationship. You guys never got sleep anymore but would still help you study before going into the phantom realm, today was one of those days. You went over to his house right after you got off the bus to drop off all your random stuff and grab a snack. When you got Hernández’s house hold, you with a to the Tylor's mather welcomed warm smile with Myler running to the door like you've just come home after 12 years.
“Mi amor... you're here early." Tyler wraps his arms around you carries you to his and room while you were basically thrown over his shoulder. His mom laughed at the sight but texted Tyler about how exhausted you looked.
"Omg! Y/n you've already here!” Taylor started but a death glare was given by her twin, "Yes but we are studying because she's on the brink of failing.” Tyler sternly stated while you spaced out while admiring your boyfriend. Taylor smiled at your actions.
“Fineeee, I’ll leave her alone with you for today.” She said as she walked away while closing the door.
Tyler turned back to you “Anyways…Y/n?” Tyler snapped his fingers in front of your face until you snapped out of your daze. “You okay, love?” He seemed concerned and worried about your droopy eyes.
“Huh? Oh yeah, I’m- I’m fine.” You smiled sweetly but tripped over your words here and there. You were about to say something until a hand gently pushed your head down into his lap.
“Maybe it’ll be better if you rest, princesa. You’re tired, it’s been rough on all of us.” Tyler cracks a small smile while looking down at you, he was always so soft and gentle with you even if you were in the phantom realm. Before you knew it, you were on Tyler’s bed with your legs tangled together. Your head on his heart and his chin in your head. What a great nap with your boyfriend.

Summer 2018 at UD Las Palmas: "President, we have signed a 15-year-old phenomenon"
(via Canarias7 - February 18, 2025)
In July 2018, UD managed to close a signing that it had been pursuing for months. And it was not for the first team. It was a 15-year-old boy who had excelled to a superlative degree in the cadet team of Juventud Laguna de Tenerife, who had also called up by the Canary Islands National Team in that category, and who the club's Recruitment Department had monitored in detail. The interest was so big that every two weeks a coach travelled to the neighbouring island to take note of his progress and several meetings were held with his parents, invited to visit the Casa Amarilla and the Gran Canaria Stadium, in order to convince them to give their permission for his arrival.
It was a very hard-earned seduction job that was on the verge of being ruined when, Christmas 2017, Real Madrid came on the scene and gave him a trial at Valdebebas. Madrid's appearance threatened UD's desire to the limit. "We couldn't compete with them, and we took it for granted that they would take him", admits one of the members of the club involved in carrying out the operation.
But the winter days in the Spanish capital were hard, it froze and snowed and, for whatever reason, Pedri, uncomfortable in that environment, did not quite catch the eye of the white scouts. In fact, they agreed to get in touch with him again after those training sessions… And they didn't even bother to do so. "There, in the face of that silence, we went back in strong, knowing that it was the perfect opportunity. We were close to Pedri, we insisted with his parents… And, in the end, they themselves valued our perseverance, appreciation and value and, having other options, they chose UD", says this same source.

"Mr President, we have signed a phenomenon", those who knew told Miguel Ángel Ramírez, certain that the rough diamond brought from the foothills of the Teide would justify himself in grand style.
At fifteen years old, Pedri played the first round of the 2018/19 championship with the Juvenil B team under the orders of Juan Germán and the second half with the División de Honor team under the direction of Suso Hernández. He has to share the dressing room and compete with teammates who are two and three years older than him, a major physical conditioning factor at that stage of his training. “With a push, they would throw him off the field”, he remembers those unequal duels in terms of stature but which he saved by using ingenuity, technique and skill.

"A well-coordinated, elegant and creative player, who stands out for his decision-making", it says in the reports of that time. In his time with his teammates at the Las Ramblas residence, he has a "calm and very polite character." The whims of precocity mean that he cannot be promoted to the Juvenil A team because he has not yet turned 16.
"At that time, a work contract could not be made, it is what the law states. And, until the age of 18, one can be signed but with the authorization of the parents or guardians. A private contract was made for him with salaries and clauses, and he was registered with Social Security. Until that moment, we were exposed to the risk of him being taken away by paying only the training rights", they recall at the Anexo.
Unstoppable and stellar progression
Positioned as a left winger, he is a great player. And with goals, as many as nine goals. In a Copa del Rey youth tie against Atlético, he finally confirmed that he is ready for something big. "Thank God the game we played there was not televised because it was an exhibition. Whoever had seen it would have been eager to sign him, although at that stage the club had him under control, so to speak. And, in addition, Pedri felt at home, perfectly adapted, very comfortable and happy. He wouldn't have left just like that, either", they underline.

His progress was so big that, literally, Las Palmas Atlético did not even have time to sign him so that he could fulfil the natural next step. Exactly 13 games with the División de Honor and always more until reaching the summer of 2019. Pepe Mel, UD coach, did not hesitate to integrate him into the preseason of the professional team from the first minute in the recently opened Ciudad Deportiva de Barranco Seco. On July 15, the club announced that he had signed a professional contract for five seasons and with the initial intention that "he would alternate games with the first team and the reserve team." Such a circumstance would never happen because he never went down after making history by becoming the first youth player of the club with those conditions.
"He's a millionaire and he doesn't know it", Mel murmured when he saw him training. "Let's see how long he lasts," he prophetically warned after his first friendly, in Fuerteventura and against Gran Tarajal on July 20 of that year. Events around him continued to happen at breakneck speed because in the middle of summer preparations, rumours about his future were rife.

Without having made his debut in an official match, and knowing that he is an exportable asset that will bring good profit, Miguel Ángel Ramírez agrees with his fellow board members and coaching staff that the sale is inevitable and cannot be postponed. Rocco Maiorino, the club's sporting director at that stage, took the initiative: "It all started when I called Ramon Planes, and he trusted me. I told him: 'I have something here that is not normal, it is for Barça'. I believed that only at Barça he could demonstrate his talent and develop," he said on Carrusel Deportivo.
Barcelona's key move
Unlike Madrid, who were urged to try again, Barça were quicker and began to negotiate with variables. "We went from one million to a fixed amount of five. And on top of that fixed amount, a series of bonuses that were unthinkable at the time but which were fulfilled. Number of games, call-up to the national team…" they detail at Pío XII, where they ended up exceeding 20 million in revenue from all concepts.
On 2 September, his transfer to Barcelona was announced, a deal that would see him remain on loan at UD until June 2020. Seventeen days later, and having just landed from Qatar, where he had made his debut with the Spanish U-17s, he scored his first goal as a professional, the winner against Sporting (1-0). He also became the youngest scorer in the entire chronology of UD at 16 years, 9 months and 25 days, breaking the record set by Orlando Suárez in 1990, at 17 years, 3 months and 3 days.
"We prayed every night that Pedri would not be discovered. We would not have sold Pedri if the team had been in the First Division. The boy deserves everything, because in addition to being a good professional, he is also an even better person", Miguel Ángel Ramírez emphasized about him at the time.
As a Barça player, he still slept in a bunk bed
Pedri was welcomed that night by his teammates at the Casa Amarilla. Already a Barcelona player and a star at UD, he continued sleeping in a bunk bed and was subject to all the time and conduct codes of the rest of the youth squad.

He made 37 official appearances, four in total with UD before flying to the Camp Nou. His year in Segunda, sponsored by Jonathan Viera, was conditioned by the pandemic and prevented him from saying goodbye to the Gran Canaria fans, since his departure coincided with the phase in which the game was played without an audience due to health restrictions. This Saturday, Pedri returns to where it all began, already a world reference, continental champion with Spain and leader of Barça. Who has seen it and who sees it.

Phantom Nights, Alien Days Chapter 2: And Then There Were Aliens
Previous Chapter - AO3
"When it's your turn, state your name and talk about yourself." The teacher orders while pulling out a blue marker.
"As an example, I'll go first." He continues while writing 'Thomas Walter' on the board.
"My name is Thomas Walter, and this is my first time teaching my own class. So, it looks like we'll all be learning something this year." He explains while scratching his face sheepishly.
-------------------
"Are introductions really necessary? I want to sit back down." Ashlyn mentally complains in her mind as she stands up to introduce herself.
"Ashlyn Banner. I like dogs." She quickly says in a bland tone while keeping her eyes averted from everyone before sitting down.
-------------------
"I'm Aiden Clark. I like bungee jumping, skydiving, rock climbing, racing, water skiing-" Aiden continues to list all these activities with his usual carefree smile and using his fingers until Mr. Thomas has to cut his introduction short to save time.
-------------------
Ben ignores Mr. Thomas' requests to introduce himself. The tall teen lays his arms and head on his desk to sleep. Aiden has to introduce Ben to the others.
-------------------
"Hello. I-the-uh... Logan Fields." Logan stutters out with a smile while looking down and messing with his fingers.
"I like astrol-I mean astronomy. I like astronomy." He corrects himself before sitting down.
-------------------
"I'm Taylor Hernández! I'm in the mechanics club. Come say hi if you get the chance." Taylor cheerfully introduces herself with a friendly smile and wave.
She's wearing a short-sleeve beige shirt with 'roll' in large black lettering on the front and black stripes on the sleeves.
-------------------
"I'm Tyler Hernández, yes, we're twins. I'm in the baseball club." Tyler is the last to introduce himself, doing so in a bored and sarcastic tone.
Under his red baseball jacket with grey sleeves, he's wearing a beige short-sleeve shirt with 'rock' on it in black lettering, matching his sister's shirt.
Mr. Thomas isn't deterred by Tyler's lackluster enthusiasm, though.
"Alright, now that introductions are over, let's talk about the semester-long group project!" Mr. Thomas enthusiastically says as the projector starts a PowerPoint.
"Today, you'll be choosing your group partners for the project, and each group should consist of six people." He explains, causing Ashlyn to panic.
"Calm down, Ashlyn. Don't panic. He might let you work alone." Ashlyn thinks, combing through her hair in panic.
"Oh, and no one will be allowed to work alone." Mr. Thomas adds, causing Ashlyn to freeze in horror.
"Take it back!" She screams in her mind while giving her teacher an expression of horror and anger.
Behind her, Aiden is innocently smiling in her seat. Ashlyn can't help but turn to him in dread, knowing he's planning something behind that smile.
"Crap."
-------------------
"The rest of class will be about the project. So, go ahead and sit with your group wherever you want with your group." Mr. Thomas directs everyone after all the groups form.
As he talks, Aiden can't help but snort because how his group sits together makes him think of a turtle. He's in a group with Ashlyn, Ben, Tyler, Taylor, and Logan, and their desks are in a tight circle. Logan's bag is hanging neatly on the back of his chair, causing Aiden to picture it as a turtle head.
The group seems fairly dysfunctional. Aiden is distracted, Ben is still sleeping, Tyler doesn't seem to care about anything happening, and only Taylor and Logan seem to be checking the assignment while Ashlyn sulks in her seat with her legs in her shirt and her head down.
"What was the point of assigned seats if it was going to end like this?" Ashlyn mentally questions as she depressingly sits there.
"Our main focus this semester will be the history of Georgia's oldest city, Savannah."
"This is also what your project will be about, and the topics you'll choose to present are in the rubric. Additionally, there is an overnight field trip to go along with this project!" Mr. Thomas reveals, causing his students to talk excitedly to each other.
"Of course, it's optional. However, those who do attend can get extra credit for individual grades." Mr. Thomas quickly adds before they drown his voice out.
"If you're interested, please grab one of the permission slips on my desk. They include everything you and your guardians need to know about the trip." Mr. Thomas finishes while motioning to the stack of pink papers on his desk before raising his hand and pointing his finger upward.
"Now, please spend the rest of class choosing your topic with your group. You have twenty-five minutes left. So, spend it wisely." He advises.
-------------------
The bell rings to signal the end of class. Before his students leave, Mr. Thomas reminds them.
"Don't forget to have the slips signed and bring them back on Monday."
Ashlyn ignores his reminder and passes by the permission slips while staring at her phone with a blank expression.
"Group projects never go well. I've already been dragged into a group chat." She thinks in annoyance before hearing Aiden make a noise of interest behind her.
"And even worse, he now has my number." She mentally groans as Aiden talks to her.
"You aren't going on the field trip?" He curiously asks while holding up a permission slip.
"I'd rather stay home." She bluntly tells him without turning around and walks off.
Aiden stares at her for a moment before looking at the permission slips and grabbing an extra one.
-------------------
"It looks like school went well." Ashlyn's mom says as she and her husband observe their daughter while enjoying some snacks.
Ashlyn tiredly sits at the dining table with her head lying on the table. She pulled her shirt up so the collar covered the top of her head like a hoodie.
"It didn't." Her daughter bluntly replies before continuing.
"Not only am I stuck with that guy on the bus and in class. But now I'm in a semester-long group project with him."
The despair in her tone causes her parents to start sweating and look at each other, trying to figure out what to do.
"I don't wanna go back tomorrow." Ashlyn groans.
Finally, it's her mom who speaks up.
"Well, on the bright side, you might make some friends." She suggests, causing her daughter to turn to her with a look of pure disgust.
"You know that isn't going to happen." She says in a dead tone.
But she soon has to pull her head back as she and her father jump in surprise when her mother suddenly slams her hand on the table while crying.
"How could you say that?! How can you deprive your parents like this?" She dramatically demands while crushing the bag of chips she was eating and holding her face.
Her husband looks at her in confusion. Ashlyn's mother gives him a quick, imploring glance with her uncovered eye, and he understands what she's doing.
"Where are they? Our memories of you having sleepovers and birthdays?" Ashlyn's mother demands, fake tears streaming down her eyes, while she falls to her knees and rests a hand on top of a chair.
Not wanting to be outdone, Ashlyn's dad stands on the living room table with his knees and reaches out to the sky with his own set of fake tears. His back is to his daughter.
"Our memories of bonding with your friends' parents and planning playdates? We want those parenthood experiences where we put a glass against your door at 3 A.M. and listen to what you and your friends are saying.
"You guys done yet?" Ashlyn asks in amusement, thinking about how terrible her parents' acting is.
"Yeah." The two say as their dramatic tears dry up instantly, and amused smiles replace them.
"But in all seriousness, in your entire sixteen years of existence, you haven't had one friend." Ashlyn's father tells her as he and his wife sit down on the other side of the dining table.
"I get that people can be exhausting. But, sweetie, you can't just avoid-" He continues before his wife cuts him off.
"No, I think she's fine, Mike. Socializing is more effort than it's worth anyway. Honestly-" Ashlyn's mom says before her daughter joins in.
"-I'd rather do something else." The two say together, Ashlyn's mom eating some of her non-crushed chips.
"Aaand I give up." Mike sighs before taking a sip of his drink.
To the family's surprise, they suddenly hear knocking at the front door.
"That's probably the delivery guy," Mike says as he gets up while Ashlyn's phone dings, causing her to pick it up before freezing.
Aiden: Knock knock
She jumps up from her seat and shouts toward her father.
"Wait, Dad, don't open the-" She cries, but it's too late.
Mike opens the door to reveal Aiden, Ben, and two other people.
"-the door"
"Hi," Aiden says while putting his phone away and holding some food.
-------------------
Ashlyn is now sitting in the bathroom with a serious expression.
"What do I do?" She questions with her hands clasped together, elbows on her legs, and mouth touching her fingers.
"This is out of hand. No, it was already out of hand before. Why is he relentlessly bothering me? I've made it obvious that I want nothing to do with him. Yet, here he is at my house."
"Is he doing this on purpose? Should I just directly tell him to leave me alone? At this point, I don't care if I sound rude anymore."
"I mean, what kind of guy shows up at your house and never asks in the first place?! It's been a total of nine hours since I've met this dude, but I'm certain he's going to ruin any piece I have in my life."
She continues to debate in her head for a while. But she eventually comes to a realization and lets out a sigh.
"...I've been in here too long."
-------------------
Downstairs, the parents are chatting together while Aiden and Ben keep out of their conversation.
Aiden soon notices Ashlyn returning and gives her a big, closed-eye smile, causing Ashlyn to grow suspicious.
The people the cousins brought with them are an older couple who look about as old as Mike and his wife. The two have the same skin tone as Aiden. But the older man has black hair the same length and in a similar style as Aiden's and brown eyes behind rectangular, black-framed glasses. His wife has medium-length brown hair that extends to her shoulders and brown eyes.
The man wears a black button-up shirt with a white collar, black pants, and brown business shoes. The woman wears a white sleeveless dress, red heels, and chandelier earrings.
"Sorry for coming on such short notice. Aiden told us Ben, he, and your daughter have been fast friends, and so we wanted to come and introduce ourselves-" The man explains in a calm voice before his explanation gets cut off when Ashlyn's parents start coughing as they choke on their drinks in surprise.
"Oh my. Are you two alright?" He asks worriedly.
"Y-yeah, sorry." Ashlyn's mom says.
"Don't mind us." Mike coughs.
"I was just saying that we're happy to see Aiden and Benny fitting in." The man continues.
"We move around a lot. So Aiden's always been homeschooled, and even Ben, it's been a while since he's gone to public school."
"Oh, that's exciting. Are you guys having fun?" Mike asks curiously.
"Yep! Especially with the field trip!" Aiden excitedly says, causing Ashlyn to pause as she's about to take a sip of her drink, questioning what he's up to.
"I thought it'd be fun for Ashlyn to come along too." Aiden sighs while looking at her with a sly smile.
"He is." She growls in her head as she realizes what he's doing.
"I knew I had a bad feeling about him." Ashlyn thinks, realizing how dangerous he is for her wish to be left alone.
"What field trip?" Ashlyn's mom asks as she and Mike look at him in confusion.
"Oh, you don't know?" The man in glasses asks in surprise.
"The kids have this group history project about Savannah."
"Oh, right. Ashlyn mentioned that earlier." Ashlyn's mom states.
"Their teacher also planned a field trip to Savannah for the project. It'll be overnight, though." The glasses-wearing man explains.
As the adults talk, Ashlyn glares at Aiden while he smiles back at her. Ben is quietly munching on some snacks as he watches the stare-down.
-------------------
"Here," Aiden says as he hands Ashlyn a pink permission slip while his family is leaving the Banner household.
"In case you want to go." He tells her before looking at her parents.
"It was nice meeting you, Mrs. and Mr. Banner." He says with a friendly wave before they all leave.
The family watches them leave before closing the door and collapsing on their couches; Ashlyn and her mom share one while Mike sits alone on the other.
"Well, they were nice," Mike says with a smile as he reaches for some cookies on the table.
"I thought it would never end." Ashlyn's mom groans as she lies on her back.
Ashlyn is equally exhausted next to her and resting her chest on her legs.
"Don't know about you guys, but imma go get ready for bed," Ashlyn tells her parents before getting up and setting the permission slip on the table before leaving.
Mike picks up the paper and stares at it for a moment after his daughter leaves.
-------------------
In her room, Ashlyn is doing some contortions while messing with her phone. She's lying on her chest and bending her legs backward until her body makes an O, her toes touching the floor next to her ears. She even has her hair undone as she does it.
She then hears a knock and looks up to see her father enter with an uncomfortable expression.
"Hey, Trooper. Mind if I come in?" Mike asks while cringing slightly at her position.
"Sure." Ashlyn shrugs.
Mike watches as his daughter unbends her legs and stands up while he sits on her military camo-colored bed sheets.
"I think you should go." He tells her as she also sits down.
"On the field trip? Why?" His daughter questions with a shocked expression.
"You know we aren't actually friends, right?" Ashlyn questions.
"I've had maybe two conversations with the guy, and one of them was about the project. And Ben hasn't even spoken to me." Ashlyn explains to her father.
"All friendships start somewhere, right?" He asks good-naturedly in return.
"But I don't want friendship." She argues back in a firm tone.
"How do you know? You can guess that you won't like something, but you never actually know until you try, right?" Mike points out in a fatherly tone.
"Like how you made me try pickled eggs?" Ashlyn asks in annoyance as she gives her father a dirty look, remembering the way he laughed at her while she gagged because of those eggs.
"Could've used a better example, but at least now you know you hate them now." Mike nervously says as he averts his eyes from his daughter.
He suddenly grabs his daughter while saying, "Listen, I won't force ya."
"I do think it's a good idea for you to experience things before you hate them, though." He tells her while giving his struggling daughter a noogie on the side of her head.
"Ack, quit!" She shouts as she feels his knuckle dig into her skull.
Ashlyn's mom watches them from the door frame with a warm smile for a moment. Then, she gains an excited grin.
"Hey, lemme join in too!" She shouts before charging toward her husband and daughter, much to Ashlyn's panic.
"Get away!" She shouts as her mother grabs her legs.
Mike grabs Ashlyn's arms, and the two quickly stand up and begin swinging Ashlyn from side to side while she struggles to break free.
"Let me go!" Ashlyn shouts, but there's a slight laugh to it as she continues to struggle.
"Don't let her get loose, Emma," Mike warns his wife with a grin.
"Don't worry, she's not escaping from me." She promises with a grin.
"You sure? She can be slipperier than a Polymorph when she wants to be." Mike points out.
"What does that even mean?" Ashlyn laughs, never understanding some of the things they compare her to.
"We'll tell you when you're older." The parents say in unison as they swing her faster.
-------------------
After messing around with her parents, Ashlyn exhaustedly lies in bed, her hair spread out all around her. While relaxing, she holds up the permission slip with a debating expression.
"It kinda irks me that he planned this out. I feel like I'm losing if I give in and go." Ashlyn thinks, remembering Aiden's smiling face as if it's mocking her.
"But Dad really wants me to give it a shot." She argues back.
She continues to lie there until she sighs before saying.
"I don't want to."
She then takes her earplugs out and sets them on the table. However, she freezes when she hears a strange sound from outside. Her ultrasensitive ears pick up the sound of something falling at high speed.
Ashlyn quickly rushes to her window and opens the curtains to see an object falling in a direction fairly far from her house, in the direction of the forest near it. She soon hears a crash, but doubts her parents did. It's late, and they're probably asleep already.
"What the heck?" Ashlyn can't help but ask in surprise.
Ashlyn is debating with herself about what to do. On the one hand, she doesn't want to go out this late. On the other hand, she might find something to convince her parents that she should go on the field trip without outright saying she doesn't want to.
Finally, it's her curiosity and refusal to let Aiden win that leads her to grab a flashlight from the kitchen and head out to search for whatever fell from the sky. She ties her hair into a messy bun to help keep it from getting in her way and quietly sets out.
-------------------
The forest is both quiet and loud for Ashlyn. The girl is keeping her earplugs out in hopes that she can use her hearing to help find whatever crashed. However, it causes her to hear every little sound around her. The rustle of leaves, the hooting of owls, and sometimes the little footsteps of small animals as they try to avoid her. It's like this for a few minutes as she treks through the forest in the direction she saw the object crash.
With each step she takes, a feeling of dread enters Ashlyn's heart as she begins to question if this is a good idea.
"I probably should have gotten Mom and Dad to come with me." She thinks as she navigates with her flashlight.
She soon hears a buzzing sound up ahead and quickly starts running toward it. As she runs, she soon sees signs of a crash, displaced trees, torn-up ground, and blown-away foliage. She soon reaches a clearing and is shocked to see a massive crater that forms a path with smoke emanating from its end.
Ashlyn stares at the crater with cautious fear and slowly scoots closer to it to see if anything is inside. What she sees when she gets close to the edge is a metallic pod. It looks almost like an egg or baby carrier to Ashlyn from her position.
"What the heck?" Ashlyn asks in shock as she stares at the pod with astonished eyes, unable to believe what she's currently looking at. She can only assume it came from space.
"Did it fall off a satellite?" She mentally questions before feeling the ground she's standing on give out.
"Crap!" She shouts in surprise as she falls into the crater and rolls close to the pod.
She quickly looks up while lying on her stomach and watches as the top opens. Ashlyn quickly gets on her butt and starts crawling back as whatever is inside the pod glows orange.
Ashlyn looks in fear at the glow while trying to stand up. As she gets up, she suddenly hears what sounds like something moving in the pod and jumps to the side when something launches at her from it.
Ashlyn sees that the device attacking her is some weird watch, the one she wears two weeks in the future. The object launches itself at her again, causing her to jump away again. She then looks around for anything to fight back with and finds a fairly big stick.
Quickly picking it up, Ashlyn takes a wild swing toward the object as it tries to attack her again, relying on her ears for her aim.
She manages to hit it. But to her shock, the device wraps around her weapon and swiftly crawls down it until it's on her left wrist.
Ashlyn drops the stick in panic and begins trying to pull it off.
"Get off!" She shouts in alarm when she first starts pulling.
However, the device won't come off, no matter how hard she pulls on it. It's like it's welded to her skin. All Ashlyn manages to do is get the faceplate to extend after turning it a few times while trying to rip it off.
After realizing she can't pull it off, she desperately tries to shake it off while backing into the wall of the crater.
"Why won't this come off?!" She questions with gritted teeth, her panic starting to turn to frustration.
In her frustration, she slams the watch into the wall and pushes the dial down again, causing a bright orange light to envelop her form.
Ashlyn lets out a scream of surprise and fear as she suddenly feels her body morphing into something else. She closes her eyes through the whole process, and when she opens her eyes, she's shocked to realize she's taller than before.
"What the heck?" She questions as she reaches out, only to freeze when she sees that she now has green, thin, insect-like arms with spikes coming out of the forearms and three pointy fingers.
She jumps in surprise, but her shock grows worse when she suddenly finds herself flying into the air at high speed.
"Ahhhhhh!" Ashlyn screams in fear, her voice slightly deeper but still feminine compared to before.
The force from her jump soon stops, and she looks down to see she's extremely high up in the air, almost like she's the same height as a skyscraper.
"What's happening?!" Ashlyn asks in alarm as she begins falling.
Ashlyn can feel her life flash before her eyes as the ground grows closer. She wants nothing more than to be in her parents' arms and is afraid that will never happen again.
She closes her eyes as the ground closes in, but is surprised to find the landing didn't kill her. However, she is unprepared for it, and it causes her to fall to the ground; her legs take most of the impact without damage before she does.
Ashlyn is breathing heavily and realizes she's staring at the pod. However, what interests her more is the reflection that's coming from it. Staring back at her isn't her face.
Instead of her human face, she has a long, thin, green face. She appears like a humanoid insect with horns on the sides of her head. On those horns are glowing orange eyes. Atop her head is another, more massive, sturdy-looking segmented horn that points backward.
"What the heck?!" She finds herself asking for the umpteenth time as she finds herself on her butt again, revealing more of her new form.
She has a broad, bulky abdomen with a stinger-like tail on her lower back and large, muscular grasshopper legs with three toes, two on the front and one on the back. Ashlyn also has spikes similar to the ones on her forearms on the back of her legs. She looks like a mix between a grasshopper and a praying mantis.
With her new form comes new clothes. She's now wearing orange overalls that perfectly display her arms and legs while covering her body. The overalls have black horizontal stripes and a large collar around her neck. In the center of her chest is the dial on the device, the hourglass faceplate glowing orange.
Ashlyn stares into the reflection for a moment before one of her arms. She's surprised to see the reflection moving its arm as well.
"Is this... me?" She asks before she starts to feel sick.
She looks down at her lower body to stare at her three-joint legs and hugs herself in terror.
"What's happening to me?" She cries, ready to puke, until she notices the dial on her chest.
She immediately grabs it with her thin arms and tries to pull it off.
"Change me back! Change me back! I can't let my parents see me like this!" She cries while trying to force it off her to end this nightmare.
She wants nothing more than to go to her parents. But she's smart enough to know they'll probably be afraid of her when she's like this. They may even get the guns she knows they have out of storage and attack her. That thought terrifies her more than her current appearance.
When she sees that pulling it won't work, it's only hurting her, she begins slamming her fist into it. She stays like this for a few minutes, her mind unable to tell time in her panic. She finally stops after realizing nothing is working.
After failing to change back, Ashlyn lies on her side while hugging herself in tears.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid." She keeps repeating to herself, breaking down at what's happening to her.
She should have just gone on the stupid field trip.
While thinking this, she suddenly hears a beeping noise that sounds similar to a warning or countdown. She looks around but soon realizes the sound is coming from her. As she realizes this, a red light envelops her, turning her back to normal.
Ashlyn looks at herself in shock for a moment. Then, in quick succession, she smiles in relief before tiredly falling backward.
"What's happening to me?" Ashlyn mentally wonders before realizing the watch is still on her.
She raises it to her face while lying on her back and studies its features. It doesn't seem like it's hurting her right now. But there's no way she wants it on her wrist if it will turn her into things like that bug creature she was earlier.
She raises it to her face while lying on her back and studies its features. It doesn't seem like it's hurting her right now. But there's no way she wants it on her wrist if it will turn her into things like that bug creature she was earlier.
"How do I get this off me?" She questions, her mind running through different scenarios.
Hesitantly, she reaches for it again and begins messing with it in a much more delicate manner. The hourglass symbol is now red instead of orange. Ashlyn turns the dial left and right a few times and jumps slightly when it extends again.
"No, no, no." She says in a slight panic as she tries to get it down without turning her into something again.
She flinches when it closes, but it makes a single long beep that sounds like an error warning. Ashlyn opens her eyes in surprise before looking at it.
"I guess it needs to recharge." She thinks dumbly.
She then falls back to the ground.
"This was so stupid." She mutters to herself.
She covers her eyes with her right arm while trying to figure out what's just happened to her life. But she soon has to get up when she hears the sound of something else falling. She looks up and sees another object heading in her direction, covered in fire.
"Oh, come on!" Ashlyn shouts in alarm before standing up and trying to sprint out of the way.
The object crashes nearby, and the force from the impact sends Ashlyn and the surrounding trees flying. Ashlyn ends up landing on a few of the destroyed trees.
"Ow." She groans while holding her head.
She looks over at the object and sees another pod-like device. However, this one is massive and more like a wasp's body compared to the circular pod the watch was in. And it's dark brown and orange instead of metallic gray.
"I really should have just told my parents no or gone on the trip." Ashlyn thinks before watching as three insect-like legs extend out of the device.
She watches as the pod stands with these legs before its arms pop out of its side, and a head appears on top of it. The biceps are thin and gray, while the forearms are broad and brown, with sharp gray metallic fingers and circular blasters under the arms. The head of the machine is human-like, with red insect-like eyes, and the top part extends back while curving downward.
Overall, it's more than double the size of Ashlyn's house and doesn't look nearly as comforting to the girl.
The mech looks around for a moment before its sensors seem to lock onto Ashlyn. Unknown to the girl, it's more focused on the item she's displaying while holding her head with her left hand.
"Crap, crap, crap," Ashlyn mutters as she quickly gets up and tries to run.
She barely manages to move in time to avoid getting killed by the red laser the robot fired at her. She then makes a run for it, but the robot chases after her, firing at her while doing so.
"Think, think. What do you do? I can't go home. If I do, this thing will follow me and hurt my parents. But I can't fight this thing. I'd need-" Ashlyn's mind is running a mile a minute to find a solution while trying to avoid getting killed.
However, she soon realizes her only option might be to use the thing stuck to her wrist.
"Is it after this thing? That's the only reason I can think of why it's chasing me. Do I have to use it? But it's still drained." Ashlyn thinks as she sees the red hourglass.
Suddenly, the hourglass symbol changes back to orange, causing Ashlyn to sigh.
"Alright. Let's try this again." She thinks as she begins messing with the watch.
She activates the dial again but sees a black outline in the center of the hourglass symbol. It looks different from the creature she turned into last time, but she doesn't have time to worry about that. In her hurry, she slams the dial down with her palm, and another orange light envelops her.
The robot pauses for a moment as it registers what's happening. Appearing before it instead of its original prey is a thin, lanky humanoid being with most of its body made of an indigo obsidian-like substance. Small pink crystals protrude from its chest, and larger ones pop out of the back. The pink crystals also make up their five-fingered hands. Their feet are toeless, almost like shoes, but not made of pink crystal. The head is pentagon-shaped, with the pink crystal displaying the face in an upside-down long isosceles triangle and a single glowing orange eye. The transformation device is on the chest of this being.
Ashlyn looks at her new body for a second, disoriented by the feeling of being in a different body, before remembering her current situation and turning around in time to see a laser fired at her.
She doesn't even have time to try to dodge or block. However, she didn't need to. When the laser shot hits her, her new body seems to absorb it and turn it into a rainbow array of colors as it enters her before vanishing.
Ashlyn can feel the energy in her body and has an almost instinctual understanding of what she can do with it.
Lifting her arms and aiming both palms at the robot, Ashlyn fires a rainbow-colored energy beam at the robot that causes it to stagger back when hit.
Ashlyn's single eye widens in surprise at what she did.
"Okay, I guess this isn't all bad." She thinks as she realizes this guy is easier to control than the other one.
The robot recovers and seems to realize its blasters won't work. So, it charges at Ashlyn and swings one of its claws at her. It manages to slam Ashlyn into the ground before picking her up and placing her in front of it.
Ashlyn tries to force herself out of its grip. But it's keeping a firm hold on her.
"Come on, come on." She thinks before feeling her eye heat up.
Getting an idea, she looks at the robot and shoots another, much thinner, beam at the robot, managing to destroy one of its optics.
The robot throws her to the side and backs away in alarm. Ashlyn hits the ground without much pain and quickly gets up. She sees the robot starting to adjust to its missing optic and examines the body.
Now that she's getting an idea of how to use this guy, she's starting to strategize on how to take it down. She soon gets an idea when she sees the joints.
As the robot looks around for her, Ashlyn fires a blast and manages to hit one of the leg joints, causing the owner to fall as it loses one of its legs. Its face lands in front of Ashlyn, and she takes this chance to fire a final blast with both her hands to destroy the head and finish the robot off.
The robot's limbs stop moving, and Ashlyn takes a moment to examine her handiwork.
"What the heck is going on?" Ashlyn thinks as she examines the robot's body.
As she does, her watch times out, and she returns to normal. Hesitantly, she reaches her hand out to examine the robot, realizing everything is real.
"Maybe I should go on that trip. It'll give me some more time to think about all of this before I tell my parents."
She needs time to figure things out. She doesn't feel she can tell her parents, afraid of how they'll react if she transforms to get them to believe her.
Unfortunately, this isn't the last problem Ashlyn will face that will change her life and those around her. She'll soon have to deal with something worse than Aiden. Something that will make her question whether it was lucky that she came out here tonight.
And that's the end of chapter two. I considered adding the Vilgax bits, but a part of SBG is the mystery aspect. So, I thought I'd keep that going with the sections connected to Ben 10 and slowly try to pepper in Vilgax's identity over time, despite us knowing it.

In their letter to Rubio, the coalition of Democratic lawmakers asked for a wellness check on Hernández Romero, while also noting that there are legitimate reasons for why, as a gay man, he was seeking asylum.
“Mr. Hernández Romero’s family and lawyers have had no contact with him in more than a month. His mother does not even know whether he is alive. Given both the well-documented concerns about conditions at CECOT and the history of anti-LGBTQI+ persecution in El Salvador, there is serious cause for concern about Mr. Hernández Romero’s well-being,” the letter reads.
“No mother should have to worry that their child will be forcibly disappeared from the United States without due process, or whether their son is even alive and healthy because of the actions of the United States government,” the letter continues.
