Something was off sbout Tyler, he was more grumpy then usual and has been avoiding you for a bit. You weren’t stupid, you knew why he was so distant but you didn’t care much about it. It wasn’t like you two were together and he didn’t bother asking you to be more then just a friend, so you kept your usual flirty personality. Everyone knew it was just playful jokes, most people going along with it or just laughing it off which you were happy for. You thought more about Tyler, remembering the time he kissed you after one of his matches. It was like those typical american high school movies, which was cheesy as hell but so what? You got a kiss from Tyler Hernández! You missed it dearly, but you weren’t the type of person to go beg for peoples attention. You were currently at your house with the rest of the group in your room. You were talking about plans for the weekend since it was friday and you were all bored out of your mind. You and Aiden were playfully sending winks and kisses, giggling about it like 12 year old girls but Tyler was really not having it.
To say he was fuming was an understatement, but like always he didn’t do anything about it. You excuse yourself and go to the kitchen downstairs, grabbing yourself a glass of water when you hear footsteps approaching. You put the cup down and you suddenly get turned around quite harshly, an angry Tyler before you. “What the fuck is up with you and Aiden?” He asks and you look at him with a smirk. “What? Is Mr. Hernández jealous?” You say and he glares, shutting you up. “You fucking like him don’t you?” He asks and you shrug; “And if I did? We aren’t dating Tyler so it’s none of your business.” You say and try to walk away but he had a firm grip on you.
He looked devastates but tried to hide it, collecting his thoughts before speaking up; “Okay, don’t expect a long speech, I’m not good at those, but I really like you Y/N and I wanted to let you know, I just never knew when or how i’d do it.” He confesses, standing there looking embarrassed. He let your arm go and looked you in the eyes, he wasn’t necessarily glaring but he did have a very serious expression on his face. “Yeah alright, I love you too Ty, I finally got you to say it.” You tease and his eyes widen and he hits you playfully; “You were just trying to make me say it cuz you were too embarrassed to do so yourself!” He blames and you giggle, running out the room and back upstairs. He ran after you and everyone stared at the two of you. Tyler had a hand on your was and you rested your head on his shoulder, sitting on your bed. “Finally, I was afraid my very good acting skills were going to waste.” Aiden spoke up and everyone erupted in laughter, Tyler just grumbling some swears cussing Aiden out.
You chuckled softly and all of you joked for the rest of the night, finally having fun like normal teens before everyone decided it was a good time to go home. You waved everyone goodbye, Taylor and Tyler staying behind for a few more minutes longer. Taylor waited outside, giving you both some privacy before you parted ways for the day. Tyler hugged you, clinging to you like a little boy to his mother and you patted his back softly, running a hand through his dark hair. He looks at you and kisses your nose, smiling at you, a genuine, happy smile before waving you goodbye; “Good night mi amor, stay safe alright?” He says making you chuckle; “I’m not going anywhere Ty don’t worry nothing will happen to me, i’ll text you if anything happens yeah?” You reassure and he nods, walking out the door. You watch them leave before closing the door and run to your bedroom, laying down on your bed and kick your feet like a mad woman. You finally had someone that loved you, cared for you. Love really was a great feeling.

You and Tyler have been together ever since you were moved to Mr. Thompson’s class and grouped with Ashlyn and the rest of the gang for the group project. Then rolled around the Savanna trip. Ever since then, Tyler has been super protective over you and that's basically how you guys got into this relationship. You guys never got sleep anymore but would still help you study before going into the phantom realm, today was one of those days. You went over to his house right after you got off the bus to drop off all your random stuff and grab a snack. When you got Hernández’s house hold, you with a to the Tylor's mather welcomed warm smile with Myler running to the door like you've just come home after 12 years.
“Mi amor... you're here early." Tyler wraps his arms around you carries you to his and room while you were basically thrown over his shoulder. His mom laughed at the sight but texted Tyler about how exhausted you looked.
"Omg! Y/n you've already here!” Taylor started but a death glare was given by her twin, "Yes but we are studying because she's on the brink of failing.” Tyler sternly stated while you spaced out while admiring your boyfriend. Taylor smiled at your actions.
“Fineeee, I’ll leave her alone with you for today.” She said as she walked away while closing the door.
Tyler turned back to you “Anyways…Y/n?” Tyler snapped his fingers in front of your face until you snapped out of your daze. “You okay, love?” He seemed concerned and worried about your droopy eyes.
“Huh? Oh yeah, I’m- I’m fine.” You smiled sweetly but tripped over your words here and there. You were about to say something until a hand gently pushed your head down into his lap.
“Maybe it’ll be better if you rest, princesa. You’re tired, it’s been rough on all of us.” Tyler cracks a small smile while looking down at you, he was always so soft and gentle with you even if you were in the phantom realm. Before you knew it, you were on Tyler’s bed with your legs tangled together. Your head on his heart and his chin in your head. What a great nap with your boyfriend.

Pablo D Lyle, Florida inmate S61685, born 1986, incarceration intake February 2023 at age 36, scheduled for release April 2027; subject to immigration hold and detention
Manslaughter
In February 2023, a Mexican actor convicted of involuntary manslaughter was sentenced to five years in prison for issuing a deadly punch during a road rage confrontation in Miami in 2019.
Pablo Lyle, 36, a well regarded Mexican telenovela star who appeared in Netflix’s “Yankee,” faced a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison in the death of 63-year-old Juan Ricardo Hernández.
Security cameras reportedly showed Lyle punch Hernández in the face after an argument on the road. Lyle claimed the punch was in self-defense, adding that he feared the man was armed and his children were scared.  According to press accounts, Hernández was not armed and died at the hospital four days later from a traumatic brain injury.
The sentencing by Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez came almost four years after Lyle was charged with murder in the incident and two months after she rejected the actor’s request for a new trial.
In addition to the five-year sentence, the judge ordered Lyle to eight years of probation, conflict resolution management and 500 hours of community service.
During the sentencing hearing, which lasted more than three hours, Lyle reportedly looked calm and expressed remorse for his actions.
“I am very sorry,” Lyle said in Spanish, looking at some of Hernández’s family members who were in the courtroom. “I always pray for him and for you, with all my heart.”  The victim’s son was among those family members and had reportedly asked the judge to sentence Lyle to the 15-year maximum. He said he was with his father the day before the altercation.
“I didn’t want to believe it was him,” Hernández’s son said of going to the hospital to see his father after receiving news of the incident.  He described his father as a “very happy, attentive person, with good health and principles.”
During the trial, Lyle’s lawyers argued that the punch was in self-defense and said there were inconsistencies with the evidence provided.
The judge, on the other hand, said Lyle made a “poor decision” by acting “out of anger.”  “The evidence shows that the action of Mr. Lyle was an act of violence,” Tinkler said. “Mr. Lyle has to be held responsible for those actions.”
The incident took place on March 31, 2019, when Lyle’s bother-in-law was taking him, his wife and two children to the airport. Surveillance video released at the time showed Hernández get out of his car at a stop light to confront Lyle’s brother-in-law, who was in front of him at the light, for reportedly cutting him off.
The brother-in-law got out of the car to argue with Hernández, who eventually turned around to head back toward his car. At that moment, Lyle jumped out of the car, ran toward Hernández and punched him before getting back into the car and leaving the scene.
Hernández reportedly collapsed in the road near his car.

Here is my contribution for Fowl Fest day 2 (should I make this a full story?)
Diary of André Price, 16 years old, Portland Oregon (aka the Baby from the wrestling match in the Atlantis Complex)
Dear Diary
Okay, brain very loud right now, need to vent.
Kind of a lot happened today. New guy finally arrived, you know the one everyone was convinced must be some juvie reject because he was being transferred in from out of state. Turns out no, his dads in the military, and new guy’s been dealing with long covid. His names Jayden, he’s really cute. I give him an 8, no 9, no… 9.5/10 (still not quite up there with Jacob, but got just a little more rizz than Liam).
Not the point, moving on.
When we were let out to lunch, Em was waiting for me outside class (she never does this, since it’s embarrassing enough to be my sister, let alone people seeing us together, but I digress) said she had to talk to me. Something weird happened this morning when she was getting on the bus (I drove in today, so I missed this). She spotted all these guys in big SUV’s scoping around the woods near the river. They apparently didn’t look like the normal military we get around here, and they had these devices in like a backpack thing and were scanning around the area. She looked really freaked out, because apparently they were scanning the area where I usually go to practice.
Em is the only person who knows about my powers. Thank God it wasn’t Sophie. That 10 year old little weasel would have ratted me out to Mom faster then I could have bribed her. Downside, Em has been treating me like her own personal science experiment ever since (perks of having the local town mathlete/spelling bee/science fair champion around, while you are but a smooth brained gay little lizard) but I guess it’s not all that bad. I know way more about my powers now then I did at the start of the year. I’ve gone from lighting little fires when I look at twigs hard enough to being able to jumpstart my car with electricity.
But maybe that’s not such a good thing.
After school Em and I drove out to investigate. We decided not to get too close, giving ourselves an excuse to be there by picking up Mr Hernández’s dog Chika (still the most adorable Pitbull I’ve ever seen, and a total wimp) and taking her for a walk since he’s still recovering from surgery.
Em was right, a whole swarm of men in black vans with the word A.C.R.O.N.Y.M, stitched onto their uniforms (none of them were even slightly attractive! Total let down). But they were scanning around the old well, exactly where I’ve been practicing for months. That must mean they’re looking for me.
We must have made a noise or something, because one of the men pointed and shouted in our direction. We ran, they ran after us, but they didn’t catch us. I think someone on the team, someone who likes to believe they have sense, must have told them to let us go. After all, we were just kids being curious (shows what they know).
Instead of going home, Em suggested we pick up Dairy Queen and hang out for a few hours. She said it was to throw off suspicion in case these A.C.R.O.N.Y.M guys decided to keep an eye on us. I think she just wanted to get me to pay for Dairy Queen, since I’m not reckless with my money like she is. We got Chika a puppuccino from Starbucks (such a spoiled puppy, but she deserved it after our fright in the woods). While we were there, we saw flyers being put up for a wrestling event that’s coming to town next week. Apparently the Jade princess is gonna be there (you’d think our family’s collective obsession with wrestling would have died down somewhat since that accident when I was a baby. Nope.) so we'll probably all being going.
We were just about to head home when I saw something else weird. Four people parked up outside the general store arguing. There was this tall, bald muscle guy (a 10/10), a tall blonde who looked like tall guys sister (Em informed me she was a 10/10. She was totally having a case of lesbian-itus), this small child in an oversized hoodie (Very loud, could hear them over the entire parking lot), and a dark haired guy in a suit (a 100/10, are you kidding me??? Edward Cullen wishes he looked like this dude!!!). I only took notice of them because I heard the kid in the hoodie shouting something about “magic” and “human babies”. I mean… that’s me! I was a human baby (Shocking I know) and I do have powers (maybe magic???). It felt like too much of a coincidence for both the A.C.R.O.N.Y.M guys, and the hottie bunch (+small child) to all be here on the same day.
All this, and I still have algebra homework to do.
Update.
Hot vampire guy is downstairs with muscle man and blonde lady. They’re asking for me!

Even High Earners Worry About Making Ends Meet, US Poll Finds (Bloomberg) Making ends meet is a rising concern for US consumers, including among those who make $100,000 or more a year, according to a survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. More than a third of consumers in the survey said they were concerned about having enough money in the next six months, compared to 28.7% from a year ago.
Ex-Honduran president sentenced to 45 years for trafficking drugs to U.S. (Washington Post) Former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernández was sentenced by a U.S. judge on Wednesday to 45 years in a federal prison and an $8 million fine for running his Central American country as a “narco-state” that formed a critical passageway for South American cocaine flowing to the United States. Hernández, 55, who was convicted of federal drug and weapons charges in March, built his political career on millions of dollars in bribes from traffickers in Honduras and Mexico, U.S. prosecutors said. During his two terms as president from 2014 to 2022, they said, he protected key traffickers from extradition and prosecution. He allegedly helped move at least 400 tons of cocaine to the United States. During his presidency, the U.S. government portrayed him as an ally. In 2015, then-vice president Joe Biden hosted him at the White House. In December 2019, then-president Donald Trump praised him for his cooperation, saying the countries were “stopping drugs at a level that has never happened.”
Argentina’s reforms (CSM) Nearly seven months after taking office, Argentine President Javier Milei has begun to tame one of the worst economic crises in Latin America. His spending cuts and currency reforms have drastically cut high inflation. The government has seen its first budget surplus in 16 years. And with a strong mandate from voters, he has made some progress in Congress to pass reforms—despite his party being in the minority. Much still needs to be done, such as reducing nearly $400 billion in foreign debt and privatizing state-owned enterprises. Yet, concludes a paper by the United Kingdom-based Economics Observatory, the changes so far mark “the first time since the turn of the century that Argentina is purposefully addressing the deep-rooted cause of all its economic struggles.” In March, Mr. Milei asked ordinary citizens for their “patience and trust.” The reforms enacted so far have exacerbated hardships. The percentage of people living in poverty has reached the highest it’s been in 20 years (57.4% nationally). Yet two polls this month found that as many as 63% of citizens are willing to stay the course. Their confidence may rest on a willingness of Argentina’s political leaders to work together with transparency. “It was crucial that he showed that he can work with the opposition to get something approved,” Eugenia Mitchelstein, a political analyst at the University of San Andrés in Buenos Aires, told The Wall Street Journal. “If everything is a conflict, and no negotiation, he won’t get anything done.”
Thousands of doctors go on strike in England a week before the UK general election (AP) Thousands of doctors in England are staging their 11th walkout on Thursday in a long-running dispute with the government over pay and working conditions, disrupting hospital services just days before the U.K. general election. The five-day strike by junior doctors—those in the early years of their careers—shines a spotlight on the troubles besetting the chronically underfunded National Health Service, Britain’s state-funded public health system, a topic that is a a top concern for voters going to the polls on July 4. Junior doctors, who form the backbone of hospital and clinic care, have been locked in the pay dispute with the government since late 2022. They went on strike for six days in January—the longest in NHS history—and hospitals had to cancel tens of thousands of appointments and operations.
Flatulent cows and pigs will face a carbon tax in Denmark, a world first (AP) Denmark will tax livestock farmers for the greenhouse gases emitted by their cows, sheep and pigs from 2030, the first country in the world to do so as it targets a major source of methane emissions, one of the most potent gases contributing to global warming. As of 2030, Danish livestock farmers will be taxed 300 kroner ($43) per ton of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2030. The tax will increase to 750 kroner ($108) by 2035. However, because of an income tax deduction of 60%, the actual cost per ton will start at 120 kroner ($17.3) and increase to 300 kroner by 2035. Livestock account for about 32% of human-caused methane emissions, says the U.N. Environment Program. Denmark’s move comes after months of protests by farmers across Europe against climate change mitigation measures and regulations that they say are driving them to bankruptcy.
Mongolia holds an election Friday (AP) A parliamentary election will be held in Mongolia on Friday for the first time since the body was expanded to 126 seats, adding some uncertainty to a vote that has been monopolized by two political parties and plagued by corruption. The election in a relatively new democracy—the country was a single-party communist state until 1990—comes at a time when many Mongolians have soured on the government, which they see as benefiting business interests and the wealthy. “We have democracy only in appearance,” said Gantamur Dash, who earns money taking photos of tourists at the central square in Ulaanbaatar, the capital. “Only a few are living luxurious lives and the rest of the population is poor.” Mongolia is a sparsely populated country of 3.4 million people in East Asia squeezed between China and Russia. The government has sought to maintain ties with its much larger neighbors while also building new ones with the United States and its democratic allies—a delicate task since the two sides are increasingly at odds.
As Iran’s presidential vote looms, tensions boil over renewed headscarf crackdown (AP) Seemingly every afternoon in Iran’s capital, police vans rush to major Tehran squares and intersections to search for women with loose headscarves and those who dare not to wear them at all. The renewed crackdown comes not quite two years since mass protests over the death Mahsa Amini after she was detained for not wearing a scarf to the authorities’ liking. A United Nations panel has found that the 22-year-old died as a result of “physical violence” wrought upon her by the state. Amini’s death set off months of unrest that ended in a bloody crackdown, and for a time morality police disappeared from the streets. But now videos are emerging of women being physically forced into vans by police as lawmakers continue to push for harsher penalties. Meanwhile, authorities have seized thousands of cars over women having their hair uncovered while also targeting businesses that serve them. But still, many women continue to wear their hijabs loosely or leave them draped around their shoulders while walking in Tehran.
In the searing heat of the Gaza summer, Palestinians are surrounded by sewage and garbage (AP) Children in sandals trudge through water contaminated with sewage and scale growing mounds of garbage in Gaza’s crowded tent camps for displaced families. People relieve themselves in burlap-covered pits, with nowhere nearby to wash their hands. In the stifling summer heat, Palestinians say the odor and filth surrounding them is just another inescapable reality of war—like pangs of hunger or sounds of bombing. The territory’s ability to dispose of garbage, treat sewage and deliver clean water has been virtually decimated by eight brutal months of war between Israel and Hamas. This has made grim living conditions worse and raised health risks for hundreds of thousands of people deprived of adequate shelter, food and medicine, aid groups say. Hepatitis A cases are on the rise, and doctors fear that as warmer weather arrives, an outbreak of cholera is increasingly likely without dramatic changes to living conditions. The U.N., aid groups and local officials are scrambling to build latrines, repair water lines and bring desalination plants back online.
Israel’s War On Gaza Is The Deadliest Conflict On Record For Journalists (The Intercept) Salman Bashir had been covering Israel’s war in Gaza on the ground for a month when his fellow journalist, Mohammed Abu Hatab, was killed. He threw his vest emblazoned with “PRESS” down on the ground in anguish during a live broadcast. “We are victims on live TV,” Bashir said. Abu Hatab, who worked for Palestine TV, was killed in November in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis in an Israeli strike that destroyed his home and killed 11 of his family members. He is among the more than 100 journalists who have been killed in the nine months of the war, marking it as the deadliest conflict on record for reporters—even more than World War II, which lasted six years. The vast majority of journalists—89—were killed in airstrikes. At least 16 were killed while working. At least 56 were killed at home, and most of the time family members were killed with them. The Israeli military said it “only targets military targets” and claimed Al-Aqsa often employs “terrorists” posing as journalists, but did not provide evidence.
‘The People Have Spoken’ (Reuters) Kenyan President William Ruto yielded to protesters’ demands on Wednesday by agreeing not to sign Nairobi’s contentious finance bill. “I run a government, but I also lead people, and the people have spoken,” Ruto said. The concession comes in stark contrast to Ruto’s comments the day before, when he lambasted the widespread protests as “treasonous events.” Nairobi’s proposed finance bill aims to raise $2.7 billion in taxes to alleviate Kenya’s extensive debt crisis. Demonstrators, primarily young people, mobilized in the capital on Tuesday to condemn the legislation, having nicknamed the president “Zakayo” after the biblical tax collector Zacchaeus. Protesters stormed and set fire to part of Kenya’s parliamentary building. Ruto, in turn, deployed the military to assist police in quelling the violence. At least five people were killed, around 200 others injured, and more than 50 protesters arrested. Kenya has the fastest-growing economy in Africa but faces imminent debt default. In total, Kenya owes $80 billion in domestic and foreign public debt, accounting for almost 75 percent of the nation’s entire economic output.
The Vanishing Islands That Failed to Vanish (NYT) On a wisp of land in the Indian Ocean, two hops by plane and one bumpy speedboat ride from the nearest continent, the sublime blue waves lapping at the bone-white sand are just about all that breaks the stillness of a hot, windless afternoon. The very existence of low-slung tropical islands seems improbable, a glitch. These islands, which form atop coral reefs in clusters called atolls, were quickly identified as some of the first places climate change might ravage in their entirety. As the ice caps melted and the seas crept higher, these accidents of geologic history were bound to be corrected and the tiny islands returned to watery oblivion, probably in this century. Then, not very long ago, researchers began sifting through aerial images and found something startling. They looked at a couple dozen islands first, then several hundred, and by now close to 1,000. They found that over the past few decades, the islands’ edges had wobbled this way and that, eroding here, building there. By and large, though, their area hadn’t shrunk. In some cases, it was the opposite: They grew. The seas rose, and the islands expanded with them.
